GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ohio – Looking for a summertime adventure? Lake Erie Canopy Tours , situated on 25 acres of Geneva State Park, is your opportunity to zipline through the sky, climb across the trees, and paddle through the water -- all in the same day if you wish.

Adults can ride the zipline canopy tour , which includes eight ziplines, a swinging sky bridge and treetop towers up to 60 feet all while being attached to a continuous belay system. The adult adventure course thrills with obstacles where guests climb, crawl and test their daringness across the various sections. Feeling extra adventurous? Try out the freefall rappel from the treetop tower.

The zipline and adventure course combination package is $139 per person. Or, choose the half-zipline canopy tour for $79.

For the younger guests, ages 4-10, check out the Landlubbers Kids Adventure Course with short ziplines, climbing features and more for $29 for one hour.

Looking for a different kind of escape? Take to the water of Cowles Creek in a kayak or pedal boat. Choose between a single ($25) or tandem ($40) kayak for a one-hour rental. Or take the family (two adults and two children) out in a swan pedal boat for $40 an hour.

The season kicked off Memorial Day weekend and will run through Oct. 31. Hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday through Monday in June, September and October -- and daily in July and August.

Lake Erie Canopy Tours is located adjacent to The Lodge at Geneva on the Lake at 4888 North Broadway. Guests’ heels and toes must be covered, no exceptions. Long hair must be in a ponytail. Bags, cameras and cell phones should be left in lockers or in guests’ cars.

Guests must be at least 5-foot and weigh at least 70 pounds to ride the zipline. There is a weight limit of 275 pounds for all courses. Guests under 16 must be accompanied by and adult and guests under 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.

How physically fit do you need to be to do the Cape Canopy Tour?

How old do you need to be to do the cape canopy tour, what to wear for ziplining.

• Comfortable walking shoes that won't fall off your feet 
• Sunglasses  - Bring your least favourite pair just in case.
• Layers - The Cape is known for its microclimates and you never know what to expect from the weather, even 15 minutes away. Always be prepared for both hot and cold weather just in case.

Other tips for making the most of your canopy tour:

• Wear sunglasses - They probably won't fall off and the experience is so much more fun when you can see that cliff face rushing towards you instead of squinting into the sun.
• Bring a backpack - You can wear this on the outside of your harness and it's very helpful for carrying valuables, water, and sunscreen. You can also keep your phone in this if you want to take some pictures along the way ...or make a four-minute video about your experience and any acts of relieving yourself in nature that you may have. 
• Alternatively, the staff at the Cape Canopy Tour also have a video package if you just want to enjoy the experience and let someone else be your Instagram husband.
• If you want super glamourous videos or photos (like the one in the picture above) of your face in closeup as you scream with terror while soaring between two cliffs, strap a Go Pro, "Faux Pro" or action camera on your wrist.
• Bring water. (You can keep it in your backpack.) But maybe don't drink too much before you go.

Zip & Climb

The X Tour is a 2.5-3 hour professionally guided X-Treme zipline tour. It features a hybrid course design using a combination of trees and towers with a cross-country style zipline that boasts 11 ziplines.

The DragonFly

What to Bring

You should wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe footwear. Slip-slops are not suitable as they will simply fall off during your zip line. Shorts or long pants are fine but mini-skirts are not due to the harness worn. Running shoes, takkies, and ‘veldskoene’ are perfect and strap-on sandals will do. Don’t forget to bring your camera as there are many excellent photo opportunities along the way and if you submit a photo to our “Photo of the Month” Competition on our website you could win a free Canopy Tour®.

What to Expect

The Magaliesberg Canopy Tour® experience begins with a thorough safety briefing that covers all the do’s and don’ts of the ziplining tour. After the briefing, you will be kitted out with your sliding harness, safety helmet and sliding gloves. The guides check that harnesses are fitted properly and make final adjustments where necessary. To end the briefing, you are given an opportunity to ask questions.

You are now ready to mount the 4×4 vehicle that will transport you up the mountain, over a distance of approximately 2 kilometres, to the drop off zone near the first platform. Look out for the resident Impala, Blue Wildebeest, Zebra, Duiker, Dassies and many other indigenous animals, bird, reptile and insect species along the way – it makes the trip even more exciting. Disembark, follow your guides on a short walk to the first platform and let the fun begin!

We are open year-round, except the 25th December and 1st January.

Our hours are 08:30 until 16:30.

Do You Offer Corporate, School of Group Bookings?

Yes! A growing number of schools, corporates and tour groups are discovering the fun and exciting team building qualities of the Magaliesberg Canopy Tour® – whether as a day outing or combined with a resident conference package at the Rosewood Function Centre where the tour starts.

The Magaliesberg Canopy Tour® is a safe and fun team-building adventure activity for people of all ages, sizes and fitness levels – with the most effort required being a short walk out at the end of the tour. If a client is nervous or requires assistance, our guides will happily go in tandem with them.

At the Rosewood Function Centre, we can offer a great venue for an end of year celebration or special company function with the option of overnight accommodation and meals included as part of the package.

It is recommended that you combine the adrenalin rush of the Canopy Tour with the total relaxation of a spa treatment or a delicious lunch for the ultimate team build.

The Magaliesberg Canopy Tour® has been designed by a civil engineer and we have full public liability insurance cover in place. A film crew is also available to take photos and videos for you which is available as an additional purchase.

Return and Refunds policy

The provision of goods and services by Magaliesberg Canopy Tours is subject to availability. In cases of unavailability, go to Magaliesberg Canopy Tours every endeavour to rebook/reschedule the service. If that is not possible, it will be considered to refund the client as soon as possible.

In the event of cancellation, the following rules shall apply:

More than 30 days prior to arrival: 0% cancellation fee

More than 7 days prior to arrival: 50% cancellation fee

Less than 7 days prior to arrival: 100% cancellation fee

Payment options accepted

Payment may be made via Visa, MasterCard, credit cards for online bookings. Bank transfers or cash will only be accepted for direct bookings into the Magaliesberg Canopy Tours bank account, the details of which will be provided on request

Credit card transactions will be acquired for Magaliesberg Canopy Tours via PayGate (Pty) Ltd who are the approved payment gateway.
