Tips for Choosing a Food Tour Business Name.

Choosing the right name for your Food Tour business is a significant step that can greatly impact its success. A memorable and appealing name helps to attract more customers, establish your brand, and differentiate your tours in a competitive market. Below are some key tips to consider when selecting the perfect name for your food tour venture.

  • Focus on Originality: Pick a name that's unique and stands out to ensure your food tour doesn't get lost in the sea of competitors.
  • Keep it Relevant: Opt for a name that reflects the types of food tours you offer, whether that's local cuisine, international dishes, dietary-specific tours, etc.
  • Easy to Remember: Choose a name that's easy to spell, pronounce, and recall to facilitate word-of-mouth marketing and online searches.
  • Consider Location: Incorporate the name of the city, region, or specific location your tours focus on to attract tourists looking for local food experiences.
  • Avoid Limitations: Select a name that allows your business to grow. Avoid overly specific names that could restrict your ability to expand to different culinary styles or regions.
  • Check Domain Availability: Ensure the domain name is available for your chosen business name to establish a strong online presence.
  • Solicite Feedback: Share your name options with friends, family, and potential customers to get their initial reactions and feedback.

Guide: How To Name Your Business

Why is your business name important.

Your business name is one of the single most important pieces to starting a business.

Because your business name has power.

It reflects your reputation, your mission, values, and represents what people (and customers) are searching for.

It impacts the way in which people remember, refer you, and perceive your business

When choosing your business name, there's a lot to think about in order to get it right - so it's important not to rush this process.

Let's take a look at everything you need to consider before deciding on a business name:

Tips To Consider When Naming Your Food Tour Company:

Simple is always better

This means a few different things. Your food tour company name should always be:

  • Easy to spell
  • Easy to pronounce
  • Easy to remember

Consider avoiding long names as much as possible, as this will only lead your customers forgetting your name and feeling frustrated.

To test this point, try to think of any well-known reputable brand off the top of your head.

The first that come to mind for me are Alexa, Google, Nike, Apple - each unique in their own way (hence, easy to remember) , less than six characters and easy to spell.

Your Business Name Should Define What You Do

The name of your business should reflect a defining characteristic of what you do.

Before your customer goes to your website or speaks to you, the name of your business should spark some initial thoughts in their brain as to what you're all about.

For example, marketingexamples.com describes exactly what their company is about: providing great examples of marketing tactics.

Consider SEO When Naming Your Business

Bottom line: If you don't show up in google, you're going to make it that much more challenging for customers to find you.

There are several different aspects to think about when it comes to SEO & naming your food tour company:

  • Try not to pick a business name that's crowded with other businesses
  • Consider naming your business based on highly searched keywords
  • Make sure the name of your business matches search intent and what people are looking for

Think about the emotions you want to evoke

Your business name has the power to evoke certain emotions and thoughts from your customer.

It has the ability to evoke a positive or a negative feeling. An inclusive or an exclusive feeling. A fearful or a loving feeling.

It's not to say that any of these feelings are wrong, but it's important to ensure that they are in line with your values and mission.

For example, the brand Death's Door makes me feel a bit risky and uncertain - but that's the point. They're selling Gin.

Try Not To Pick Something Too Limiting

Your business name should be fitting for the future and growth of your business , that way you don't have to confront a re-brand down the road.

If you choose something too narrow, it may be challenging to diversify your product and revenue streams down the road.

Here are some tips to avoid making this mistake:

  • Try not to name the business after a particular geographical area (this makes it hard to grow in other areas)
  • Try not to name the business after only one product you sell
  • Try not to name something based on a current trend

Brainstorming Names For Your Business

If you're in the brainstorming phase and trying to come up with a business name, there are a few key things to think about in order to get the juices flowing:

  • Write out a list of words that reflect your brand, personality, team etc. These should be the first things that come to your mind and you shouldn't have to think too hard about it.
  • Look at competition in the space and see if there's a common theme. Write down some key words or phrases that resonate with you and add them to the list.
  • Think about the emotion you want to evoke with your business name
  • Ask yourself: If I had to describe my business in one word, what would it be?

From there, you can create a shortlist based on the words that resonate best with you and follow the naming guidelines above.

Tips on naming your business

In addition to the requirements from the State, there are some general naming guidelines that may help you down the road as well.

We've put together a full guide here for naming your business here but will also cover the most critical pieces below:

Is your URL available? Social media handles?

You can check for domain availability here:

Find a domain starting at $0.88

powered by Namecheap

As soon as you resonate with a name (or names), secure the domain and social media handles as soon as possible to ensure they don't get taken.

Other general naming tips

  • Consider SEO when naming your business
  • Consider naming your business something that reflects what you do and/or who you are
  • Keep it simple! Easy to spell, easy to pronounce and easy to remember
  • Try not to pick something too limiting that could impact your businesses growth in the future!

Check out our full naming guide here .

Here is a video covering all factors to consider when naming your LLC :

Examples of Great Business Names

When choosing a business name, it's critical that you look at other examples of businesses not only in your space, but business names in other industries that have done particularly well.

Here are a few examples of great business names (+ how some of these businesses came up with their name):

Competitor Analysis Example

One great way to name your business is by looking at the competition and getting inspiration.

Gia Paddock, founder of Boutique Rye analyzed other businesses in the space and added her own personal spin to her business name:

A popular national brick & mortar women’s boutique that many may have heard of is called Francesca’s… How original, right? So we came up with Boutique Rye named after our son, Riley. We put "boutique" in front to be a little different.

The name "Boutique Rye" checks the boxes for naming a business:

  • Short and simple
  • Easy to spell and easy to remember
  • Clearly defines what the company does
  • Optimized for SEO (people searching for boutiques)
  • Unique and personal touch - tells a story.

Ask Other People

Sometimes, coming up with a name is as easy as asking other people, whether that be friends, family, people at a coffee shop, or in Spyq Sklar case, his own customer!

How we came up with the name Cat Sushi :

So, we put together a quick business plan and set aside some money that we were willing to risk. One of our loyal customers actually came up with the name. We still give them free cat food.

Read the full story ➡️ here

The name "Cat Sushi" checks all the boxes for naming a business:

  • Memorable and funny
  • Obvious that they sell treats for cats
  • Fun & unique story - their customer literally came up with the name of their business!

The Amazon Example

Formerly called "Cadabra", Jeff Bezos decided that the name was too obscure, hard to spell, and easy to misinterpret.

The name Amazon came from a simple dictionary search .

Jeff Bezos wanted something that started with an A, looked through a dictionary and came up with the word Amazon.

When he told his team, he didn't care for anyone else's input. He was set on it.

Here's how the word "Amazon" checks all the boxes (aside from being worth a trillion dollars):

  • Represents the largest river in the world, making it very memorable
  • The story and meaning of the word matches the vision of the company: To be the larger and better than any other business!
  • The name allows for future growth opportunity - they didn't name something specific to just "books," even though at the time, that's what it was.
  • Easy to spell, pronounce and recommend!

Real, authentic experiences

We love the highlights, but for us the real magic is found off the tourist trails. Our trips combine iconic sites with hidden gems that you’ll only discover with Intrepid. We’re talking mornings exploring the Taj Mahal, followed by a Mughlai cooking class with a passionate home cook.

A local Intrepid leader

Local expertise

Whether you’re perusing markets, hunting down the best street food bites or learning how to cook centuries-old family recipes at a homestay, there’s no better way to get the inside scoop on a destination – and its culinary traditions – than with an expert local leader by your side.

A small group of travellers

Small groups

Big coaches and flag-toting tour guides don’t cut it for us. With a maximum group size of 12, our groups blend in with the locals and have plenty of opportunities to interact with chefs, street food vendors and group leaders. It also means you can really connect with your fellow foodies.

Must-try dishes around the world

A plate of traditional Peruvian ceviche

Peru – ceviche

Ceviche is the unofficial national dish of Peru. It's made by marinating cubes of raw fish and seafood in lime juice, onions, salt and aji amarillo chilli peppers, and is served cold with sweet potato chunks, plantain chips and corn on the cob.

Paella simmering in a pan

Spain – paella

This saffron-flavored rice dish originated in Valencia hundreds of years ago when hungry servants would combine rice with leftovers from Moorish kings' lavish banquets. The dish varies across the regions, but the mixed version with chorizo, mussels and prawns is the most popular internationally.

A Kochi-style Thali in India

India – thali

Struggling to choose just one curry? Fear not. A thali comprises several eye-popping dishes served on a large plate. The dishes typically include grains, lentils, vegetables or meat curries, chutney, raita, pickles and pappadum – creating the perfect balance of sweet, salty, bitter, sour, astringent and spicy flavors.

A glass of wine with Balkan cheese and a cracker balanced on top

Balkans – cured meats and cheeses

When traveling through the Balkans, treat your tastebuds to delicious charcuterie boards loaded with traditionally preserved meats, cheeses, vegetables and bread. Some of the most popular Balkan meats to try include cevapi (homemade grilled sausage), njeguši (dry-cured ham) and pljeskavica (Balkan burger).

A street vendor selling falafel in Bethlehem, Isreal

Israel & Palestinian Territories – falafel

Considered to be Israel’s national dish, these balls of deliciousness (made with ground chickpeas, herbs and spices) are a must-try plant-based dish. They’re usually served on a platter or in a warm pita pocket filled with pickled vegetables, crunchy cabbage salad and generous lashings of creamy tahini sauce.

A colorful bowl of khao soi in Chiang Mai

Thailand – khao soi

There’s a whole world of Thai noodle dishes to discover beyond the obvious (and delicious!) pad thai. Khao soi is a chicken and coconut noodle soup from northern Thailand. It’s packed with vibrant aromatics and is served with crispy fried noodles, shallots and fresh lime wedges on top.

Tour reviews

Food tour faqs, what food can i expect.

Expect to eat the local way. We don't call these trips ‘food adventures’ for nothing. Forget Michelin stars and 20-course degustations – our local leaders will help you get behind the scenes of local food culture, track down the freshest street food, discover the most authentic local restaurants and reveal the traditions and techniques that make these destinations so deliciously mouth-watering. From lining up with locals for fresh tortillas in a Mexican market to hopping between Logrono’s thriving tapas bars, they’ll show you local food from the perspective of those who eat it every day.

How does a Food Adventure differ to a regular Intrepid trip?

All of our food trips have been designed with one thing in mind – experiencing the best local food on the planet. But we all know that there’s much more to food than just eating it – so whether it’s browsing markets for fresh produce, sizzling up a storm in a cooking class or meeting a local street-food legend, we’ve stuffed your plate to the brim. And once you’ve devoured all the local food you can handle, we’ve made sure our Food Adventures are rolled up into a burrito with the lot so you won’t miss out on the iconic sights and authentic cultural experiences that are found on all our Intrepid trips.

Is there any freedom & flexibility in the itineraries?

Like all Intrepid itineraries, we’ve made sure our food trips provide free time between activities, allowing you to digest a destination either with your group or on your own. You might spend the morning exploring a buzzing local market with your guide and cooking a delicious local dish with your group before heading off on your own to wander the marbled halls of a museum or cycling through ancient alleys.

We’ve also left plenty of mealtimes free of organized activities, which gives you the flexibility to ‘get your gourmet on’ at a fine dining restaurant or simply seek out your own ‘real food’ adventure. Needless to say, your leader will be there every step of the way with suggestions and recommendations.

What transport is used?

Sometimes, the best way to eat like a local is to travel like one too. That could mean jumping on a boat to discover the flavors of the Mekong Delta, riding the Tokyo subway to a sake bar or rattling along in a rickshaw in pursuit of Agra’s finest chaats. We love to use local transport because it gives us a chance to experience everyday local life from a new perspective.

What is the accommodation like?

Whether you’re spending the night in an ancient fortress or in the home of a local family, most of our trips include a memorable overnight stay that is designed to make your trip extra memorable. When we do choose to use hotels, all of our accommodation options are in our Original style, which means a mix of 2-3 star establishments that are safe, clean and comfortable.

How do Intrepid's Food Adventures benefit local communities?

We help support local economies by purchasing snacks and meals from street-side vendors, dining in local restaurants, eating seasonal produce from the destination, and using local guides throughout our itineraries. Many of our trips incorporate visits to community projects, and we choose locally-owned accommodation wherever possible. We are committed to a style of travel that is culturally, environmentally and socially responsible.

Why does every Food Adventure include a plant-based meal?

Plant-based foods generally have a much lower carbon footprint than animal-based foods, and incorporating more plant-based eating into our diet is a major opportunity to mitigate and adapt to climate change. As Intrepid continues to innovate in ways that promote and support sustainability, including a delicious meal that showcases local fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds is just one way that we are investing in the health of our planet.

What about vegan travelers?

We do our best to accommodate dietary requirements (including vegan diets) on all of our trips, and all our Real Food Adventures will include at least one plant-based meal. If you want a more tailored experience, that's where our Tailor-Made team can step in. We can use our 30 years of experience and regional specialists to help you create your perfect vegan food adventure.

How to Choose a Catchy Tour Name for Your Business

name your tour

What is it about a tour business name that makes it stick with you? Humour, fancy acronyms or play-on-words all have their place in the travel industry. Ever wonder how some companies land on their tour name?

When you are just starting a tour operator business , you have to come up with a name that stands out in people’s minds. A memorable tour name helps to curate brand recognition and bring more customers your way. And as people grow to be familiar with your tour brand , they’ll develop a positive association with it.

What’s in a tour business name?

A tour name can have a polarizing effect on people. It should define your tour business type, give guests an idea of what you offer and speak to your values, like if you offer ethical travel and tours .

With many different types of businesses in the tourism and travel industry, it’s vital to capture your audience’s attention with just a few words. In trying to figure out how to attract potential customers to your tour business, ask yourself the following questions:

  • What do you want your business to stand for?
  • How do you want your tour business to fit into the market
  • How do you want your tour business to work for you?

Tourpreneur addresses some common challenges when it comes to naming a tour business. You want to land on something that’s fun, memorable and sets your tour business apart. And ideally, you want your name to accurately represent the experiences you set out to provide.

Is there a secret sauce to choosing a name? Maybe a little bit.

Let’s take a look at how Google reads your website.

Google defines keywords as words or phrases that describe your product or service. They’re how search engines match websites with terms people are looking for.

When looking for keywords to use for a good tour name, aim to pick terms that will attract the right audience to your site. The best way to do this is to get specific.

It’s also a good idea to use your name your tour business after the area you’re located in. That way you capture audiences looking for activities or tours in your city or town. Remember, your goal is to attract people who are interested in an experience where you are located.

Google understands when words are related and searches for keywords on your site based on your link structure. So, it might be worthwhile to include a few common keywords that prospective guests use throughout your main web pages as well as in your tour name, if you can.

how to pick the right tour name

This is where Search Engine Optimization (SEO) comes in. And before your eyes glaze over, I hope to simplify how SEO impacts your tour business.

Choosing based on sentimental value or having to explain can be challenging for climbing search engine ranks.

  • Do you have a lot of competition for the name?
  • What are your unique selling propositions (USPs)?
  • How do you attract guests?
  • What demographic do you tend to attract?
  • Is the website name available?

SEO involves adding elements to your site so search engines (like Google) can find and rank you. And while quirky statements or deliberate misspellings aren’t always savvy for SEO, they can help you to stand out with the right tactics.

To better understand how customers find you , explore tools like Google Analytics and Google Search Console to see which keywords prospective customers are already using to find your tour business.

The basics of tour name SEO:

  • Identify what your customers are searching for
  • Learn how to create content that will match their query
  • Set your site up so Google can find and understand it

While SEO can be intimidating, understanding the basics can have a huge effect on your website traffic, and ultimately your bottom line. So what does this all have to do with naming your tour?

Well, with nearly 85% of travelers using their smartphones to book travel activities online, guests are likely using a search engine to find what they’re looking for. If you want modern travelers to book your tours and activities you have to be available online. Even more importantly, they have to be able to find you on the web and it all starts with a good tour name.

choosing a cycling tour name

How to find tour name ideas

Happen to find yourself in an emerging market or have little competition? Choose a straightforward name that has the activity and location right within the name. Potential guests are going to search for experiences by typing in the activity type in a specific location.

Imagine as a guest in a major city, that tours are offered by bike, boat or on foot. How will travelers narrow their search?

To help guests find you, be specific and simplify your name to detail the activity, location and tour type you offer. Descriptions help to provide a compelling reason to book with you if guests are looking for an easygoing pace on their tour.

The goal is to use as few words as possible to help future guests find your tour business. Simplicity can help your online presence. Make sure to include keywords for the type of tour you offer, your location, and any subcategory or distinct feature. Try using the template of both category and name:

Category :    Location & Keyword for Tour   Name: Distinguishing feature

For example: Category: Victoria by Bike Name: The Pedaler : Victoria Bike Tours

Aim to choose a short, easy-to-spell name with two to five words. But what if you offer multiple activities under one business umbrella? Is there a defining word that can work to allude to the types of activities you provide?

Still struggling to choose a tour name that works? Try this tour business name generator tool or this online name generator which conveniently lets you know whether the domain name is available, too.

  • Two Wheelin’ Bike Tours
  • Rapid Cycling Bikes
  • Pedaling about [City] Cycling Tours
  • [ City ] Bikes and Brews – Brewery tours by Bike
  • Spokes and Snacks — Scenic Bike Rides in the Pacific NorthWest

Pretend your name is Ronan and you live in Scotland where you operate Row Boat tours in Lochness Lake. Does the name Ronan’s Rowboat Tours sound both catchy and descriptive?

If you’re considering this tour name for the long term, is there the potential that you may want to scale in the future? And if so, what would happen if a person named Linsday wants to run this type of rowboat tours in another City. Does the name still make sense?

  • Scenic [ City ] Tours by Boat
  • Boat Tours [ City ]
  • Water Adventure Tours
  • Paddling [City] Tours

  • Walking in [City]
  • Wake up [City] Walking Tours
  • [City] by Foot Walking Tours
  • Pacing about Portland – if you enjoy alliteration

Instead, if you name your business something like “Cloggin’ about Chicago” most people know that clogs are shoes and can put the two together. Still, it might be a stretch. Ideally, you want to squeeze in the most basic version of what you offer in your name.

Better yet, name your tour company using layperson’s terms like Inner [City] Walking Tours. By naming your tour after the location and activity, you’ll answer the main questions guests will have. In your tour description, you’ll be able to further niche down what you offer.

how to choose a kayaking tour name

What happens if your tour name is already taken?

You may notice a lot of similarities when it comes to tour names. If you’re in a saturated market, it’s best to eerr on the side of caution. Try to make sure you’re not borrowing someone else’s name for the sake of simplicity.

For instance, if you run walking tours, there’s a good chance your competition will also have “walking tours” in their name. To avoid conflict, see if you can get more creative by adding in something instead like Frankly Fun Food Tours or [your name] Classic Culinary Adventures. You can be a bit cheeky but there are too many clever names available to be a copycat in a competitive industry.

To give you a first-hand account, Tourpreneuer tackled this topic in the podcast episode with Lauren McCabe sharing how she built up and chose the name for her food business.

For scalability, steer clear of using your own name. Unless you’re Rick Steeves’ — globally known tour guide, then it’s probably a good call to brand your tour company as Rick Steeves tours.

But, not all is lost if you find yourself with a name buddy. Your solution? Amp up your marketing efforts. Picture more video marketing, a heightened social media presence. Be ready to adapt and identify areas where your business shines. No need to get petty with another business, provided they’re not copy-catting your business name.

Final thoughts

Words are powerful and when it comes to first impressions, they can hold a lot of weight. Choosing a tour name is one element of creating a successful tour business. So, if you can land on a catchy tour name that aligns with your values and provides memorable experiences for guests, you’re well on your way to building your tour brand.

Consider how people find you and what they’re looking for in an experience. Then, aim to have your tour name be representative of the type of activity guests are searching for. Ideally, you want to take your time selecting your brand name because it’s likely to stick with you for as long as you’re in operation.

From here, add detailed descriptions to help your tours stand out to travelers. By choosing a tour name that represents the type of business you plan to run and describes what you offer, you make it that much easier for guests to book an experience with you as they search online for their next adventure.

How to choose a catchy name for your new tour

Carla Vianna

There are a million and one things to check off when you’re just starting your tour business .

Coming up with tour names is one of them.

This action item may seem like a piece of cake until you realize how important a tour name can be.

Your tour titles can help make your company visible on Google and attract the right audience. If you have found yourself struggling to come up with a tour name that conveys the right message and stands out to your customers, you’re not alone.

The truth is that there’s no magic formula. Yet there are a few strategies that can help you create catchy tour titles that delight your guests. In this post, you’ll learn how to choose the right tour name for your new tours.

How do you name a tour?

Should I name my tour(s) the same as my company?

6 strategies for coming up with catchy tour names

1. hint at the nature of the experience, 2. deliver a clear message, 3. keep it seo-friendly, 4. make it rhyme, 5. consider the location, 6. think about your audience, how do you name a tour .

The main purpose behind a tour name is to tell your customers what kind of experience you can offer them. The challenge is to find the right words that can reflect that.

There are many ways to approach this. You can create a name based on the location of the tour or the kind of tour. You can try to make it rhyme or go for a play-on-words that fits the activity.

As your brainstorming ideas, consider the following questions:

  • Where does the tour take place?
  • What kind of tour are you offering?
  • What’s the main activity on this tour?
  • What makes this tour unique?
  • Who is this tour for?
  • What keywords do you want to rank for on Google?
  • What’s the competition like for my tour?

Next, you can make a list of the highlights of your tour. For example, if you’re a helicopter tour company in New York City, consider the most exciting moments of your flight.

Flying over the Empire State Building might be one of them. In this case, you can try to incorporate that highlight into your tour title. It may look something like “NYC Empire State Building Helicopter Tour.”

Before you settle on a name, it’s a good idea to check on your competition:

  • How many other companies are offering helicopter tours in NYC?
  • Are they all named the same way? If so, your tour company can easily get lost in the mix.

This is when you’ll need to get creative and find a name that stands out. A name that simply describes the location and activity may not be enough. When that’s the case, refer to one of the many helpful tips for coming up with catchy tour names below.

Should I name my tour(s) the same as my company?

Tour operators that focus on one specific tour type in one location will likely include both in their business names. For example, a boat tour in Portland, Maine, may very well be named “Portland, Maine Boat Tours.”

In this case, if the boat tour operator only offers one tour, it may be very similar to the name of the company.

Most of the time, though, your tour names will be different from your business name. Your tour names should be catchy enough to grab your customers’ attention — and clear enough to convey the right message.

Let’s say you’re a sightseeing tour provider, and you offer several different types of tours. Your company is called “Chicago Sightseeing Tours.” You have walking tours, bike tours, and boat tours.

You want people to understand the difference between each of your sightseeing tours. In this case, you wouldn’t name your tours the same name as your company. You’ll name each tour based on the unique activity and highlights in each.

What makes a “catchy” tour name? The objective is to make your customers stop scrolling and click on your tour listing. You want to catch their attention and reel them in with your creative use of words. We know this is easier said than done, which is why we’ve compiled these six strategies to help you.

A tour name should correctly represent the experience that’s taking place. A snorkeling tour, for instance, should convey that the experience happens in the water. Here are two examples:

  • Avery’s Underwater Adventure in Maui
  • Full-Day Snorkel and Sunset Tour in Maui

From a search engine perspective, it’s a good idea to include the activity in your tour name. This will make it easier for your website to rank for those keywords on Google. However, research your competition before doing so. There could be many similarly-named tours in your area.

If you run a challenging hiking tour, perhaps the name “A Stroll Through The Woods” isn’t the most accurate — or appealing — name.

Let’s say you’re a hiking guide in Colorado. You likely have several different tours available for different regions and mountains. Your tour name should reflect the type of hike you offer as well as its location. Here are two examples:

  • Pikes Peak Hiking Guide
  • Colorado Hiking Tour: Pikes Peak Summit

Both of these tour names suggest that this tour is a mountain hike. They also indicate which mountain in Colorado: Pikes Peak.

Keep in mind that you don’t have to convey the full message in your tour title. The duration of the hike, a list of things to bring, and meet-up time, for example, will be in your tour description . As for the title, the goal is to deliver the main message in the shortest amount of words possible.

Google ranks your website based on keywords present in your content. Keywords are words or phrases that describe your tours.

When someone searches for “walking tours in Paris,” the company “Free Tours by Foot” appears in the first 10 search results. Ranking on the first page of Google highly increases the chances that users will click on your link.

These customers are specifically searching for the experience you’re offering, and many of them are ready to hit “book.” This is why Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is so effective at driving direct bookings.

Consider the keywords you want your company to rank for when you’re naming your tours. This almost always includes your location. That way, you attract travelers looking for tours in your city or state. Next, think about what a guest might search for when interested in participating in the tours you’re offering.

Use these keywords to create a catchy title for your tours.

An easy way to make your tour name sound catchy is through rhyming. A tour name like Sky-High Zipline Tour rolls off the tongue. It also does a good job at catching adventurous travelers’ attention who might want to know how high “sky-high” actually is.

Think about where you operate. Is it known for anything in particular? Many places have common phrases that reference the unique cultural values or character of a city. New York, for example, has the “I love NYC” tagline. A helicopter tour company may use that tagline for a tour that flies over the city’s most iconic monuments: “I Love NYC Helicopter Tour.”

Earlier in this post, we asked you to think about your audience. Who are your tours for? Now think about how you can best appeal to these specific customers.

For example, a food tour company that’s promoting itself to millennial travelers may use a catchy and cool term like “foodie.”

  • Chicago Foodie Tour: Beyond the Deep Dish

Another example is using the term “like a local” to appeal to travelers looking for cultural experiences off the beaten tourist path.

  • Paris Culinary Tour: Shop, Cook, and Eat Like a Local
  • Paris Walking Tour: See Paris Like a Local

All three of these tour titles use language that appeals to a specific group of guests — which makes it that much easier to attract them.

Your tour names are a powerful aspect of your tour business. They can help you rank on Google, bring in the right customers, and set you apart from your competitors. With these strategies, you’ll be prepared to create catchy tour names that’ll increase your direct bookings.

Organizing a tasting party can be an ambitious task for most party organizers. Not only do you need to attract the right people to the event, but you’ve got an offer a unique food tasting experience. If you’re new to organizing tasting parties, it would be best to have a guide on where to start and the laundry list of things you need to prepare. We’ve prepared a brief guide on how you would go about planning your first tasting party.

  • Choose your category.  The first step in planning any tasting party is knowing what type of food or beverages you intend to let your guests taste. Other than the things you believe they will enjoy, you can also select foods that you think they are curious about, but haven’t tried yet. This will give them a feeling of anticipation about what you can expect.
  • Narrow down your selection.  From the initial step, you may have a lot of things in mind. Different people have different tastes of course, but you won’t be able to serve every type of cuisine possible at a single event. Instead find a niche to focus on like pizza, Italian food, sushi, appetizers or other themes already mentioned in this post. Do an elimination process to determine what your guests could agree on. It also helps to select a theme so you could focus on a particular type or group of food. Just make sure you select food pairs well with each other. Don’t forget about the beverages that could enhance these flavors too.
  • Shopping.  Once you’ve decided what you want to prepare, now is the time to head to the grocery store and stock up on supplies. You may also want to consider purchasing beverages to serve before, during, and after tasting. If you are unable to find the food you intend to prepare locally, you can research online for specialty shops that will ship the ingredients you need.
  • Set Up Everything. This is the time you need to organize everything that you’ve planned. Consider everything from pens, tableware, and even printed tasting sheets so you can get feedback from your guests. This is also the time to organize the serving table and what food needs to be in the same area. Start with the milder flavors going into the strong ones to prepare your guest’s palate gradually. Doing it the other way around may turn off some of your guests and might not continue with the food tasting at all. You may also consider preparing background information for each delicacy and where to buy them for guests who could be interested.
  • Food Tasting. As a host, here’s where your PR skills take the front seat. Invite your guests to the first food and lead them through the order. Encourage them to focus and take notes on their thoughts, then you may discuss with them the sample afterward. Before going to the next food, it would be advisable to offer them water to cleanse their palate and be ready for the next food in line.

As you can see there’s plenty to organize even when hosting a small tasting event for friends. But don’t forget to enjoy the process as well. Food tasting events can be powerful ways to be introduced to interesting people, nurture relationships and sample foods you’ve never tried. A fun tour. The group I travelled with made quick friends. Most of the accommodations were acceptable. Taormina was a treat staying at the Splendid hotel. Marcus our guide in Palermo was exceptional. I felt the food and wine experiences were average.

Taste of Salento-Authentic Culinary Experience Tour

Taste of Salento-Authentic Culinary Experience

My husband and I just returned from our week-long stay at Masseria Linazza, and it was one of our most fun and unique vacations ever! Chef Emilio, wife Clara, brother Michele, and father Antonio were the most gracious, kind, hospitable, and accommodating hosts! They are very flexible and want to ensure that all of their guests have a memorable experience. They took us to different parts of the Salento region each day and told us about the history of the area, answered questions, allowed time for photos, and in some cases let us decide how much free time we wanted before returning to the masseria. We stayed in a B&B that was a 5-minute walk from the masseria. Our room was very spacious with a queen bed and single bed, plenty of closet space, and a large bathroom. We found fresh towels on the bed every other day! A short walk from the B&B is a cute coffee shop where we enjoyed delicious coffee with the locals before walking back to the masseria for an abundant breakfast of delicious pastries, yogurt, fresh cut fruit, fruit juice, and more delicious coffee. We loved the small-group “family feel” of this tour, as well as the peaceful atmosphere around the property (especially after having spent the previous week in bustling, fast-paced Rome). My favorite part of each day was gathering for dinner at the restaurant to enjoy Emilio’s fantastic dishes, fine red and white wines from the region, amazing desserts, and great conversations with our new friends. Due to the casual/flexible nature of this tour, do not expect to do everything listed in the tour description or to follow the daily schedule exactly as shown. Just relax and know that you will be treated to some stunning sights with some amazing hosts who want you to experience the best that their region of Italy has to offer. My husband and I highly recommend this tour! Final note: Omar at Soleto Travel was excellent to work with! He was very responsive and helpful as we planned for this tour.

Private Sicily Food & Wine Lovers Tour Tour

Private Sicily Food & Wine Lovers Tour

This is a MUST for any foodie. Our guides were amazing and it was nice to have a true foodie tour while still learning a lot and having a ton of fun. While each day was filled with beauty and delicious food, my favorites were being by Mt. Etna (because, it's Mt. Etna!!) at the winery and farmhouse, then the cooking class in Taormina. Our chef was so kind and always smiling! It's a truly wonderful experience. The wineries we visited gave us that feeling that life can't get any better. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that my husband and I will never forget. Everyday was a new and exciting memory. I didn't stop smiling throughout the whole trip. What really stuck out were the people and how kind everyone was. They really wanted you to have an amazing time...job well done, everyone!

Discover Matera and Taste of Salento Tour Tour

Discover Matera and Taste of Salento Tour

Best decision I've ever made. On the masseria on the country side you will be surrounded by a lovely family running the restaurant making sure you will experience the local life, la dolce vita. The food was the best I've ever tasted. Fresh, simple (almost no additional ingredients!) comfort food and very very tastful. Lots of raw fish, fresh pasta, cheeses, cold meat, good olive oil and complementing wine. The chef Emilio is very modest but he's a star really. They make you feel like you're their guest at home, I felt so welcome and as if I was part of the family/a friend. So warm. When you book the tour (I really recommend this!!) with overnight stay, the group will be no more than 4 persons (nice and cozy!), I was a solo traveller and stayed together with another woman. Every day the family (mostly Clara, lady of the house) drove us places (nature, beaches, cities, churches, you name it) to experience the local life and to see all the Salento treasures. The program is very flexible, they discuss the program day by day, as you wish. Very pleasant and also a good combination of trips and free time. Really everything was taken care of, total relaxation, felt like a queen but as if it was my own family/friends taking care of me. There are so many things I would like to say to compliment them, I truly recommend this place. I am home for 2 weeks now and I genuinely miss them. After that I stayed at Matera for 3 days in a very nice hotel and had some private city tours with a very pleasant tour gide. Matera is truly enchanting, such a romantic and historical city. The view is stunning, and the (enormous) hotel room actually inside the Sassi is quite an experience! Breakfast at the hotel was really luxurious and dinner outside the hotel every day was also luxurious, you are really taken care of. The food/wine tasting was also delicious and the people were so nice and generous! I really enjoyed these last days, the accommodation was really luxurious and there is lots to see in the Sassi area of Matera. All in all it was a very balanced tour. I booked my tour at Salento Travel (Omar), he was really helpful during booking this tour, kind, always quick with responding and also very flexible. Asked for a late airport transfer on the way back as I had a night flight. No problem at all and I had the best car and driver I could wish for. I really recommend this trip, you won’t regret it!

Charming Sicily Food & Wine Small Group Tour - 8 days

Overall our tour was wonderful. We had a great time. Denise, especially was a very good guide, very knowledgable and personable. The cooking class and our Palermo Street Food tour was, probably my favorites. A few areas that could have been improved upon: - A little more communication prior to the tour would have been reassuring. In this day of fraud it is a little unnerving to send all that money into the internet and not get much of a response. - The final communication, our itinerary, was a definite problem. We were told by Tour Radar that we would receive it 10-14 days before we left. The tour operator (ClickTours/Mossimo) told us we would receive it 8 days before we left. I finally called Tour Radar 6 days before we left

Sicily was great, the transportation was very good, fellow passengers were a great bunch who mixed well. Food and wine experiences were good, but for me the highlight of the trip was ancient and modern Sicily. The tour guide was lovely and tried very hard but with limited English understanding, was not able to provide any significant on board commentary or quell the frustrations that accrued as we drove from place to place. Accommodation throughout the tour was average to good and the weather was just perfect.

We had a wonderful time. Raffaella was a lot of fun and taught us to prepare many traditional dishes that we also enjoyed eating. She is a very special person. She has a wonderful old farm house with lots of room for everyone to do their hands on cooking. After the cooking we ate in a separate dining room on a beautifully set table with their own wine and olive oil.....delizioso! We also enjoyed interacting with her other guests and hearing their travel stories. In the afternoons, we were chauffeured by Paulo on our daily tours. Thank goodness because driving here is an artform. We truly enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend this experience to everyone. Thanks again Raffa for the fantastic memories.

Reviews of food & culinary tours in italy.

I can’t say enough good things about our experience in Sicily thanks to Mossimo and his team. Excellent, informative tour guides…Denise, Carlos, Antonio and Sem. The cooking class may have been the highlight, but all of the activities were fun and the pace of the tour, planned activities/free time mix was perfect. Will definitely recommend!
Emilio, Clara, Michael and Antonio were fantastic hosts. The food and the sights visited were fantastic. However, a more protein driven menu would have been appreciated. The Casa Clarita was nice, but needed little attentions such as water in the fridge upon our arrival without asking and napkins. The mattresses would need updating and extra blankets. Being North Americans, it would help paying attention to safe driving. These are only constructive criticism, as we truly enjoyed our week on the farm and highly recommend this tour.
This private tour of Sicily one of the most fun, relaxing, beautiful, and delicious (!) vacations we've ever had--the perfect way to break out of the Covid "lockdown" blues after not being able to travel for 17 months. If you are considering this vacation, stop looking and book this tour before it sells out--you will not regret it!! I originally thought I would book the small group tour, but because of covid--and more importantly because the private tour price was so reasonable--we booked this as a private tour, and it couldn't have been more perfect. Massimo is the SINGLE BEST travel agent we've ever used. I don't say this lightly--First, I'm extremely picky (I'm a professor and scientist, and I tend to analyze everything; I want only the very best experiences; second, we have traveled all over the world, and we have very high standards and expectations. We have always had wonderful local travel agents, but Massimo went "above and beyond" in every way imaginable. His communication was phenomenal; with Covid restrictions, we weren't sure we were going to be able to make the trip happen at all, and at every stage Massimo would send me the latest information on Italy, and also he basically said we could cancel for a full refund even a week before our trip, which is an extremely generous policy and eased a lot of my stress. I ask a lot of questions, and he answered every question very quickly with detailed answers. He treated me more like a friend or family member than a "client."If he hadn't been so friendly, reassuring, and had such a flexible policy, we probably wouldn't have taken the trip. The trip itself was absolutely perfect in every way. When local travel agents plan trips for us, I meticulously read reviews of all the hotels and activities, and I end up making suggestions for revisions or alterations. In this case, all of the reviews were stellar, so I didn't ask fora single revision. And yet, every single tour, activity, and hotel Massimo planned was FABULOUS. I wouldn't change a thing! The care with which Massimo puts into his tours--and especially his clients--is amazing. He would what's app me every evening to remind me of the pickup time the next morning, and again during the day to check in to see how our day was going, whether we were enjoying an activity, and if he could do anything to make things better. I noticed that every tour we went on, they took pictures of us and sent them to Massimo, which I believe was his way of making sure we were always well cared for, and where we were supposed to be. I truly felt like he deeply cared about us and wanted to make sure we were having the best time possible. His drivers, guides, and tours were also top notch. Every single driver (without exception) was early to pick us up, spoke great English, and was incredibly friendly and informative--it's as if he chose to only work with contractors who have his same wonderful personality. Each and every tour guide was also incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and engaging, some of the best guides we've had in any city. All of the activities -- from cooking classes to food tours to wine tasting -- were incredible as well. What I loved most of all was that I literally never had to worry about anything, because everything was so perfectly chose and planned and because Massimo was always watching over us to make sure everything went well. I will absolutely recommend this tour of Sicily and especially Massimo to all of my friends and family!

10 Destinations Where Culinary Tours are a Must

culinary tour names

Food is undeniably one of the most profound aspects of travel. It’s through the exploration of local dishes that we not only get to know new flavors, but also get in touch with the cultures and histories that make each destination unique. But what if we told you that there’s a way to take this part of your trips to the next level?

culinary tour names

In a world where travel is about more than just seeing, culinary tours provide a remarkable avenue to experience a destination’s essence. Beyond the traditional tourist sights, these tours open the door to a world of local traditions, authentic recipes, and the stories that have shaped a region’s cuisine. From street food to advanced combinations by skilled chefs, culinary tours offer an immersive experience into a destination’s heart and soul. And it’s not just about the food – it’s about the people who lovingly craft each dish, the history they tell you with every bite, and the communities that thrive around shared meals.

Culinary tours are as important as museum visits. With every dish comes a story – of cultural fusion, ancient traditions, and the subtle influence of geography on taste. These tours provide an intimate window into a destination’s culture, offering a chance to experience the locals’ way of life, and gain a better understanding of the historical events that have shaped their culinary identity. Whether it’s learning the art of rolling sushi in Tokyo or tasting aromatic tagines in Marrakech, culinary tours transport you beyond the surface of travel, inviting you to taste, touch, and never forget the delicious memories you’ve created.

In this post, we’d like to share 10 destinations where culinary tours are an absolute must. We’ve divided our exploration into two sections: the well-known culinary havens and the unexplored treasures waiting to be uncovered. From cities celebrated for their gastronomic delights to lesser-known corners of the world with very rich culinary cultures. Both will guarantee an amazing tasting experience, we promise!

Culinary Capitals: Starting With The Well Known

These are the cities where food is an art form, a way of life. They have earned their gastronomic reputation through centuries of refinement.

1) Paris, France

Oui oui! As soon as you step outside your hotel, you’ll see locals passing by with baguettes sticking out of their bag. From the chic bistros lining the streets to the grand tables of Michelin-starred restaurants, Paris encapsulates a love affair with food that spans centuries. In the charming bakeries, croissants boast flaky layers that whisper tales of dedication. The earthy aroma of Coq au Vin resonates with the terroir of Burgundy’s vineyards. Escargot , while adventurous to some, is a delicacy that bridges the gap between the past and the present, reminding us that embracing tradition can be an amazing experience.

The food is very often related to tradition, a reflection of the vibrant people who shaped the nation’s history. Mexican gastronomy celebrates the earth’s bounty and evokes memories of pre-Columbian times. Tacos al pastor, a beloved street food, is a mix of the influence of Middle Eastern immigrants with indigenous spices and techniques. Mole, a complex sauce with deep flavors, weaves together the narratives of Mexico’s rich past. The warmth of tamales, wrapped in corn husks, reminds us of the value of community and shared meals.

Exploring the Lesser Known Dishes

For this second portion of the article, we’re deviating a bit from already popular dishes, looking into destinations where the culinary scene might not be as well-known world wide but is just as captivating. These are the places where you’ll find the local grandmothers whipping up generations-old recipes and the markets where exotic spices taste like magic.

6) Istanbul, Turkey

Istanbul is a city that straddles two continents and embraces countless cultures, is a culinary crossroads where flavors merge in history and tradition. Turkish cuisine has influences from the Ottoman Empire to the Silk Road, resulting in a variety of spices and tastes. We definitely recommend trying Lahmacun, a thin and savory Turkish pizza adorned with minced meat, vegetables, and a burst of lemon. Also manti, tiny dumplings that carry the essence of Anatolia’s rolling hills. The rich creaminess of muhlama, a cornmeal and cheese dish, is the best Turkish comfort food. Take those while sipping some good Turkish black tea or the velvety sweetness of Turkish coffee, and you’ll understand the years of tradition.

7) Prague, Czech Republic

Prague is a city that whispers tales of castles, history, and – surprisingly – a culinary scene that’s making waves. Czech cuisine, often overshadowed by its neighbors, has a soulful and inviting charm. In cozy taverns and traditional eateries, you’ll taste the comforting warmth of goulash, a stew that’s rich in flavors and history, reflecting the Czech’s enduring spirit. Sample svíčková, a tender beef dish accompanied by creamy sauce and bread dumplings, a true taste of home. Trdelník, a sweet pastry spun over open flames, represents the feel of Czech hospitality.

8) Montreal, Canada

Did you know that Montreal is a bilingual city? Speaking English and French, Montreal’s cuisine reflects the duality of its culture. Among the delicious dishes, you’ll find poutine, a tasty mess of crispy fries, cheese curds, and rich gravy. Smoked meat sandwich, a delicious marriage of Jewish and Canadian influences. And don’t forget the classic bagel adorned with a smear of cream cheese if you want a taste of the local lifestyle.

9) Tel Aviv, Israel

Israeli cuisine is the result of influences from the Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and global cultures. Some of the mandatory dishes when visiting are: shakshuka, a hearty dish of poached eggs in a tomato and chili pepper sauce, served with crusty bread. Also, the aromatic world of falafel, where a crispy deep-fried ball or patty made from ground chickpeas or fava beans meet tangy tahini sauce. Another recommendation is the zest of sabich, a sandwich that marries eggplant, hard-boiled eggs, and fresh vegetables. Just like in Istanbul, if you try the aromatic Arabic coffee along with the food, you’ll find that every dish tells a story.

10) Krakow, Poland

The medieval charm of Krakow is also often overlooked by the food explorers. Polish cuisine, deeply rooted in history and tradition, has a very characteristic warmth and richness to its food. In Krakow’s historic streets, you’ll find for example, the delicious and comfy pierogi, delicate dumplings filled with savory or sweet fillings. You’ll also find bigos, a stew that combines sauerkraut, meat, and spices in a with mastery, and oscypek, a smoked sheep’s cheese that carries the aroma of the Polish highlands. The typical drink is hibiscus tea, an amazing option to complete your understanding of Krakow’s culinary scene.

If you’re the type of traveler that believes the essence of travel transcends mere sightseeing, culinary tours have emerged as an essential passport to the heart of global cultures. To truly grasp the spirit of a destination, one must immerse themselves in its local food, tasting the stories and histories brought with every bite. As travelers, it’s these flavors and memories that linger long after the journey ends, reminding us of the universal bond of food and the stories it tells. Whether it’s the comfort of a Roman Carbonara or the intricate tales behind a Krakow pierogi, culinary tours offer a flavorful ticket to understanding our diverse and interconnected world. So, the next time you chart your travels, let your palate be your guide, and discover a world rich in flavors, traditions, and tales waiting to be savored.

What is a Food Tour?

inside mercato albinelli in modena italy

A food tour is an adventure for your taste buds, guided by a knowledgeable local passionate about their city’s cuisine and traditions. It’s a journey through the heart of a destination, exploring themes like markets, bakeries, or even wine tasting, depending on your interests. Often including tastings of food, wine, or liquor and insights into food production, food tours are a deep dive into local flavors and culinary practices.

At Tasty Itinerary, we think of it as a “foodie adventure” – a unique opportunity to sample, learn, and fall in love with local eats and drinks you might otherwise miss, all while having fun and trying new things.

A Food Tour Looks Like This

  • Meet and Greet : Your guide will welcome you at your meeting point, provide an overview of the tour you’re about to take, and introduce the city’s highlights.
  • First Bite : You’ll have your first taste, usually at a local bakery or café, sampling the city’s typical breakfast fare. Unless it’s an afternoon or evening tour.
  • Culinary Exploration : Part of a food tour is embarking on a walking tour through the city, stopping at local markets, eateries, and specialty shops to taste a variety of local specialties.
  • Diverse Dining : Experiences may include on-the-go street food tastings and-or sit-down meals at restaurants.
  • Learn and Taste : The food they introduce all comes with a story—learn about its history, production, and cultural significance.
  • Insider Tips : This is one of the most valuable parts of a food tour. Your guide will provide personal recommendations at other must-visit spots to eat, drink, and local gems to explore.

Practical Tips to Book a Food Tour

Now that we know what a food tour is, here are some practical tips to help you book and take a food tour during your next vacation.

During a private food tour in Girona, Spain , hubby got a lesson on how to slice jamón. And I fell in love with one of my favorite pastries to date, the local pastry of Girona called a Xiuxo.

1. Do Your Research

First things first: do some homework.

  • Ask friends or family who’ve visited the destination about their food tour experiences.
  • Read reviews on tour companies and individual guides on platforms like Viator , WithLocals , and Devour Tours .
  • Join travel Facebook groups for insider recommendations.
  • Aim for high-rated tours and rave reviews because these tours are vetted for.

2. Check What’s Included

culinary tour names

Not all food tours are created equal.

  • Read the description of the itinerary. See how many stops are planned and what kind of tastings are in store.
  • Are you into paying for the guide and then paying for the food you choose to eat during the tour, or does an all-included fee sound more cost-effective?
  • Sometimes, splurging a bit on a private tour can offer a different perspective, and you can tailor it as you wish.

Foodie Tip: Above all, embracing new flavors and experiences is at the heart of what makes a food tour truly memorable.

3. Find a Tour That Fits Your Budget

Your budget will dictate a lot of your choices. Food tours can range from modest to extravagant, especially in cities like Rome, Paris, or New York, where the cost of living (and dining) is higher. Weigh the experience against the expense to find your sweet spot.

4. Check the Meeting Point and Schedule

tigella modena foods

We tried Tigella, a typical food from Modena, for the first time during a food tour. We had never heard of it until then.

Logistics matter. Look at where your food journey starts and ends and how it fits your accommodation and transportation plans. Timing is just as crucial; you want a tour that syncs up with your day without making you rush or miss out.

Pro Tip: Book your tour around breakfast or lunchtime, or make it a dinner adventure. That way, it doubles as a meal, filling you up with delicious experiences.

5. Communicate With Your Tour Company and Guide

tortellini being made by hand during a food tour in bologna

On a food tour in Bologna, we visited a pasta factory where several ladies made tortellini by hand.

Got questions? Dietary restrictions? Need to cancel or reschedule? Get in touch with your tour provider early on to smooth out any wrinkles before they become crinkles. A little pre-tour communication goes a long way in ensuring your food tour is as seamless as it is scrumptious.

Foodie Tip: We recommend touching base with your guide before you arrive; their insider tips on where to eat and what to see can be as valuable as the tour itself. You can start planning and making reservations.

Where to Book a Food Tour?

We always start our research and book most of the tours on these sites with great success. It’s a great starting point in finding one that fits your needs.

What is a food tour called?

A food tour goes by many names: culinary tour, foodie tour, gourmet tour, but here at Tasty Itinerary, we prefer “foodie adventure.”

How would you describe a food tour?

A food tour is an exciting experience for food enthusiasts, guided by a local expert passionate about showcasing their city’s best culinary offerings and traditions. It’s a chance to immerse oneself in the distinctive flavors of a location, accompanied by a fellow food lover.

culinary tour names

It’s common to visit fresh local markets and specialty stores during food tours.

Why do people go on food tours?

People go on food tours to sample and learn about local eats and drinks they might miss if they were exploring on their own. Spending time with a local foodie makes the experience unique, as who better to learn from than someone passionate about local cuisine? Plus, it’s just fun to eat and try new foods!

How does a food tour work?

A food tour typically starts with meeting your guide, who leads you through 5 to 8 culinary stops, offering tastes and sips of the locale’s specialties. These tours can be private or in small groups of 6 to 10 people, lasting about three to four hours to ensure a more personal and manageable experience. The goal is to keep things intimate, making navigating and soaking in every delicious moment easier.

What is included in a food tour?

What you’ll get on a food tour varies with each company or guide. Typically, tours include a mix of guided walks and tastings of local foods and drinks, ensuring you get a hearty experience of the local cuisine. The amount and variety of food depend on the tour and location, but the aim is always to leave you happily satisfied.

Be aware that some tours offer just the guide’s expertise, leading you through the city’s culinary spots, where you pay for what you eat as you go. This approach lets you pick what tempts your taste buds but requires more flexibility and budgeting. Always check the tour details to know exactly what’s included and make the best choice for your appetite and curiosity.

Are food tours worth it?

Yes, we believe food tours are worth it and a great way to learn about a destination through its food, as it is part of its culture. The value you get from what you eat and drink and the bonus of having a great guide to show you around make it an amazing and worthwhile experience.

drinking coconut milkshake in mazatlan

It was hot in Mazatlan, so I wore a tank top, shorts, and a hat on our food tour.

What do you wear to a food tour?

Unless specified, be comfortable and stay casual. Always wear comfortable shoes as you will walk a lot during the tour when you’re not sitting down to eat.

Do you tip your food tour guide?

Always tip your food tour guide, especially if they’ve done a fantastic job.

Sicily: Syracusan Delights

Amalfi Coast: Flavours of the sea

What you will experience traveling with feast

FEAST producer visits

We believe that food is the most intimate expression of culture, and it is our love of food that defines each culinary tour to the Mediterranean with feast travel.

Each of our tours includes four main ideas: Discover, Gather, Make and Feast.

On a culinary journey with feast, you will get to know the regions visited in Italy, Greece, France and Spain up close and become an explorer, gatherer and producer yourself.

As you wander through the countryside, you will see the connection between the place and its food and between culture and cuisine. You will meet the people who live there and meet locals who will share their knowledge that has been passed down for generations.

Amalfi lunch

You are always right in the middle of things and immerse yourself in the life of a region during interactive experiences, such as cooking courses or visits to producers, while you prepare your own dishes with chefs in their kitchens or see how mozzarella is actually made.

The highlight of each day is when everyone comes together and eats together, with a better understanding of the rich traditions, hard-working people and craftsmanship that go into all the components of a dish.

That's why when you sit down at the table with feast, it's no ordinary chair, and you're no ordinary traveler either. We invite you to take a seat and become part of a gastronomic adventure with feast travel.

Consider the duration of the tour, the group size, and the level of comfort you desire. Some culinary tours offer all-inclusive packages, while others may require additional expenses for certain activities or meals. Plan ahead to secure any necessary travel documents, such as visas or travel insurance, and make sure to coordinate transportation arrangements to and from the culinary tour destination.

Planning a Culinary Tour

Benefits of Culinary Tours

Embarking on a culinary tour offers numerous benefits beyond just enjoying delicious food. One of the most significant advantages is the cultural immersion and understanding that comes from experiencing a destination through its cuisine. Food is intricately connected to a culture’s history, traditions, and values. By exploring the local food scene, participating in cooking classes, and engaging with local producers and chefs, you gain a deeper appreciation for the cultural significance of the dishes you encounter.

Moreover, participating in culinary tours allows you to build culinary skills and knowledge. Whether you’re a seasoned home cook or a novice in the kitchen, the hands-on experiences, cooking classes, and interactions with chefs offer valuable insights and techniques that you can incorporate into your own cooking repertoire. You’ll gain a better understanding of flavor combinations, ingredient selection, and cooking methods, empowering you to recreate authentic dishes from your culinary tour at home.

Tips for Making the Most of a Culinary Tour

To fully enjoy your culinary tour, keep the following tips in mind:

Embrace new flavors and food experiences

Be open to trying new dishes, ingredients, and flavors. Culinary tours are an opportunity to expand your culinary horizons and discover new favorites.

Interact with local chefs and food artisans

Take advantage of the knowledge and expertise of the local culinary experts you encounter. Ask questions, engage in conversations, and also learn from their experiences.

Keep an open mind and be willing to try unfamiliar dishes

Culinary tours often introduce you to dishes that may be outside your comfort zone. Embrace the adventure and be willing to step outside your culinary boundaries.

Immerse yourself in the local culture

Beyond the food itself, take the time to learn about the cultural context behind the dishes you encounter. Also, understand the history, traditions, and stories associated with the cuisine of the region you’re exploring.

Take notes and document your experiences

Bring a journal or use a digital note-taking app to record your favorite dishes, cooking tips, and memorable moments from the culinary tour. Capture the sights, smells, and flavors that make each experience unique.

Bring a Journal

Respect local customs and traditions

When visiting markets, restaurants, or cooking classes, be mindful of local customs and etiquette. Show respect for cultural practices, such as dress codes or dining rituals, to ensure a positive and respectful interaction with the local community.

Stay curious and ask questions

Culinary tours provide an opportunity to learn, so don’t hesitate to ask questions. Engage with the guides, chefs, and locals to deepen your understanding of the culinary traditions and techniques you encounter.

Connect with fellow food enthusiasts

Culinary tours often bring together like-minded individuals who share a passion for food and travel. Take the opportunity to connect with fellow participants, share recommendations, and exchange stories and recipes.

Support sustainable and responsible practices

Choose tour operators and establishments that prioritize sustainable and responsible approaches to food. Look for those that support local farmers, use organic or ethically sourced ingredients, and promote environmentally friendly practices.

Extend your culinary journey at home

Once your culinary tour is over, don’t let the experience end. Bring back the flavors and techniques you learned and incorporate them into your own cooking at home. Experiment with new recipes, source authentic ingredients, and share the stories and flavors of your culinary adventure with family and friends.

In conclusion, embarking on a culinary tour is a delightful way to combine your love for food and travel. Whether you’re exploring the flavors of Sorrento on a food tour, delving into Basque cooking traditions, or indulging in a Tuscany cooking vacation, these immersive experiences offer a unique opportunity to connect with local cultures through their cuisine.

From market tours to cooking classes, each culinary tour provides a chance to learn, taste, and appreciate the diverse flavors and traditions of a destination. So, let your taste buds guide you on a gastronomic adventure and uncover the world’s culinary treasures one bite at a time.

411+ Creative Food Festival And Tasting Event Name Ideas

food festival

Pairing food with drink together is one of the most common reasons for people to come together. Food festivals and tasting events also give artisan food makers and farmers an exciting marketplace to connect with new customers. Where I live in Southern California, the Temecula Balloon and Wine Festival is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year for the community.  Tens of thousands of tourists come each year to participate in the event, sample food, listen to live music and of course drink wine.

In this article, I’ll help you brainstorm creative name ideas that will project mouth-watering imagery in the minds of potential guests. Here’s a hit-list of more than 400 examples you can use to promote an event like this .

You can pretty much serve anything at a food or wine tasting event. The challenge here, though, is how you can craft a unique food or wine tasting experience that people won’t forget and will actually want to attend. So step one is always to select theme of food you want to serve. Then you can start working backward to select food samples to provide guests.

This will help you identify your ideal guests and narrow down your menu to their food preferences. Here are some brainstormed ideas on what you can serve.

  • Charcuterie – A cheese board is filled with finger foods like nuts, cheese, dried fruits, and meat. Put one of these in the room while you sample different wines so you can enjoy the event more without feeling lightheaded because of the liquor.
  • Hors d’Oeuvres –  While waiting for the main course, serve your guests with small bite items and cocktails to keep their tummies from rumbling. Whether it’s devil eggs, skewered food, or bread and pastry classics, people will stay delighted in the event.
  • Soup – S oup hydrates the mouth of your guest while they continuously taste dry foods. This is also a meal you can take a few sips of and understand the taste and flavor profile. It’s nutritious and flavorful, making it an ideal part of the menu.
  • Salads – S alads are another classic meal that doesn’t fill you up too much. It’s a light bowl of veggies that help with the digestion of guests. This might also serve as an appetizer and is extremely flexible since you can add an almost unlimited number of toppings and dressings.
  • Entrees – T his is the main dish, the most awaited part of the full course meal. Ideally, you should serve your 4 main entrees.  One caterer I spoke to for this pieces  suggested tailoring the choices to guest taste preferences. It is also better to offer something seasonal so your menu will be fresh and price-friendly.
  • Beverages – T he standard menu recommends you prepare 2 cold beverages and 2 hot beverages for your guest but it’s actually up to you. As long as you have something to quench their thirst, you’ll be fine.
  • Cocktails – Serve these spirited beverages with the dish they complement with to enhance the tasting experience of your guest. Remember: light drinks go with heavy food while light food goes with heavy drinks.

And there you have it! A creative event name is a steppingstone toward unlocking marketing opportunities through food festivals and tasting events. Remember, the more you promote and market the event in advance, the larger the audience you’ll attract. I hope this list has inspired you to organize the most unforgettable food or wine event . If one of the ideas worked for you, let me know the one you chose on social media.

13 Absolute Best Food Tours In New Orleans

T he city of New Orleans can best be described as a food lover's paradise. Its rich and cultured past has paved the way for an eclectic and diverse food scene to rival all others in the country. In the Big Easy, everything is iconic, from fresh seafood out of the Gulf Coast to delicious drinks that fuel the festivities and sweet treats that many tourists travel far and wide to sample. The city's unique blend of cultures gives rise to exclusive dishes, drawing visitors from across the globe to savor unforgettable cuisine and create lasting memories.

When visiting a new city, it's often wise to let a tour guide tote you around to the most serene, signature spots on your checklist. When New Orleans is the destination, tourists should never leave before booking a food tour to open their eyes to tastes outside the tourist district. We all know to indulge in cajun gumbo and beignets. However, lesser-known New Orleans classics like hearty red beans and rice and yakamein soup are often overlooked by travelers. A food-focused tour ensures a taste of the renowned favorites of the city, while unveiling hidden gems beyond the staples of The French Quarter, where authentic Cajun and Creole flavors come to life. Using personal experience and research methods, this list sums up the best food tours to make your New Orleans vacation unconventional and, therefore, spectacular.

Doctor Gumbo

Ever been on a boring tour? Doctor Gumbo's tours implore guests to forget their preconceived notions about standard tours, with bored, blasé tour guides reading off lists and going through the motions. Doctor Gumbo boasts "a cure for the common tour" with food-focused walking tours that are designed to be both fun and informative. Meet new friends and explore the ins and outs of the most vibrant city in America. Whether you choose the food history tour or strictly cocktails while you walk along the streets of New Orleans' revered French Quarter, you're in for an experience that will have you swooning over the Big Easy.

Doctor Gumbo's food history tour allows visitors to dine in five iconic New Orleans locations, including some centuries-old establishments that are household names in the city. You'll discover dishes like seafood-rich gumbo, savory boudin balls, and the best muffuletta in Nola . Enjoy your leisurely stroll through the city streets, enjoying jazz performances and exploring various restaurants. There are plenty of opportunities for candy shop stops and hot sauce store tours so that you can pick up some classic New Orleans souvenirs along the way.

Sidewalk Food Tours

Food is the name of the game for Sidewalk Tours. The company specializes in a variety of food-themed tours to accommodate all visitors. Learn about the neighborhoods of The French Quarter and the Lower Garden District while you sample the flavors that put the city on the map as a culinary hotspot. Sidewalk tour guides are friendly and laidback, so instead of feeling like a structured tour with a strict itinerary, this experience is more like a casual stroll through a beautiful city that leaves guests with a full belly and fond memories to last a lifetime.

Choose whether you'd like to explore The French Quarter or the less famous but equally impressive Lower Garden District with Sidewalk tours. For The Quarter tour, choose five locations, including Leah's Pralines — arguably the best place for iconic sweets in New Orleans — and Felix's Oyster Bar, where you can sample freshly shucked oysters fresh from the Mississippi River. Opt for the Garden District tour to explore locations such as the famous sandwich shop Turkey and the Wolf and Juan's Flying Burrito, the world's first Creole taqueria. Sidewalk Tours also offers private and corporate tours.

Let a bona fide local tote you around the Garden District with Bon Moment tours. Whether you'd like a guided bar crawl or a tour that will satiate your appetite, Bon Moment is an ideal choice for a small group looking for an intimate, in-depth New Orleans culinary experience. This tour focuses heavily on small businesses, meaning you might sacrifice stops at some famous chains. Still, in exchange, you'll be supporting the local economy of the city you've been longing to visit.

Bon Moment's tour guide will educate you on the history of the neighborhoods that you're touring before and after you indulge in some iconic NOLA food and beverages. Take the company's Bywater food and drink tour to do New Orleans like a local. Drink in a dive bar and grab po '  boys at the corner deli while you admire street art and listen to live music in this up-and-coming part of town. Bon Moment also offers tours of The Garden District and a nightlife tour on Frenchman Street, where you can party like the locals do.

Guided Underground Donut And Beignet Tour

Those who are unfamiliar with the city may not think of donuts and sweet treats when they think about the culinary scene of New Orleans (usually fishy food and booze are what come to mind). But locals know all too well the addictive nature of New Orleans-style beignets and other soft and sugary NOLA treats. On Guided Underground's donut and beignet tour, you'll get to indulge in a different way than everyone else partying in the French Quarter on Fat Tuesday. Guided Underground's tour takes visitors through the neighborhoods of Magazine Street — an area to explore that tourists don't often add to their itinerary. Yet for New Orleans locals, Magazine is the go-to spot for culinary delights, refreshing drinks, lively parties, and an all-encompassing good time.

On the tour, you'll visit four pastry shops, enjoying the best beignets the city has to offer with a cup of chicory-laced café au lait in hand. You'll try the classics as well as seasonal donuts loaded with local ingredients unique to the city. The tour promises to finish with a fun surprise, so book this distinguished food tour on your next New Orleans excursion to enjoy something off the beaten path.

New Orleans Secrets

So you've tried gumbo, beignets, and rum-rich hurricanes — now what? There's a lot more to the New Orleans foodie scene than just the classics that we can all name off the top of our heads. New Orleans Secrets aims to shed some light on the lesser-known delights that the city has to offer and leave the gumbo to the novices. The company's Magazine Street foodie tour includes six stops with seven menu items to enjoy. The experience is anything but a tasting tour and more like a full day of indulgence. You can certainly check this eclectic meal off as one of the best you'll ever have in New Orleans and beyond.

The New Orleans Secrets foodie tour leaves guests in suspense by staying true to its name and keeping the restaurants a surprise until the tour begins. So for an adventurous foodie who loves to throw all caution to the wind and embrace a mouth-watering, savory meal in any and all forms, this tour is a must-experience. Guests will stroll for a half mile down Magazine Street, enjoying the sights, sounds, and — most importantly — flavors of the city.

Destination Kitchen

Considered one of the best in the Crescent City, Destination Kitchen offers tours to suit any group. Whether you're on a cocktail-laden girl's trip or a family-friendly vacation, a culinary tour by Destination Kitchen will please everyone in your group by showcasing the best of the best in New Orleans cuisine. Amble through The French Quarter during Destination Kitchen's walking food tour, perfect for first-time visitors. On this tour, you can sample gumbo and other iconic dishes, as well as "make groceries" (otherwise known as "shop for tasty treats" in New Orleans language). This tour includes a stop at the city's famous French Market, where you can choose any seafood meal you can fathom and grab a cold beverage to ease the sticky Louisiana heat.

For a more intimate and unconventional experience, opt for Destination Kitchen's walking tour and cooking class. At nearly six hours, this tour turns the culinary world of New Orleans into a fun day of gastronomic bliss. Visit the most famous eateries in the city and learn about their impact on New Orleans culture, all while sampling beloved dishes. Then, enjoy an entertaining and informative cooking demonstration at the New Orleans Cooking School, complete with a full lunch.

Taste Of Nawlins

Let Taste of Nawlins take you on an educational epicurean excursion through the French Quarter. Don't let the quirky phonetic spelling in this tour's name fool you — the company promises to take you and your guests on a dignified journey through the famed culinary landscape of New Orleans as it was meant to be experienced. You'll learn the history of iconic dishes like jambalaya and gumbo , as well as the story behind the historical buildings that line the streets of The Quarter. On this tour, you'll meet the locals who keep New Orleans's food scene alive and thriving, providing a hearty dose of sweet Southern culture to accompany the savory meals you'll enjoy.

If you're after a tour that offers a little something beyond the classics, take the Taste of Nawlins breakfast tour. On this excursion, you'll start your day with a full New Orleans-style breakfast in a popular restaurant on Decatur Street before you head out for an early morning educational adventure. You'll learn about food, architecture, and the French history that made this Gulf Coast cuisine among the most revered in the country.

The Premier New Orleans Food Tour

Lead by two New Orleans locals with a fiery passion for The Big Easy's eclectic charm, the Premier New Orleans food tour is sure to impress even the pickiest of palettes. Naif and Sandy — two lifelong Louisiana residents — will be your knowledgeable and quirky guides on the culinary circuit. Both Naif and Sandy are former educators and cooking aficionados, making them the perfect guides for those who want to learn about New Orleans food history with delightful Southern friendliness.

The Premier New Orleans French Quarter tasting tour leads guests along the historical streets to taste the best po' boys in New Orleans — stuffed with meat or seafood and dressed to the nines — all while learning the myriad differences between Cajun and Creole cuisine. Tour five different locations in the French Quarter at a leisurely pace while your guide answers any questions you may have about the food or historical sites that you'll visit. The Premier New Orleans Food Tour offers tours for small and large groups, as well as private tours.

Intrepid Urban Adventures

Intrepid Urban Adventures employs a network of tour guides all over the world to host food-centric and other themed excursions in cities spanning every continent. In New Orleans, Intrepid Urban Adventures hosts a small tour that brings out the foodie in every Big Easy visitor. Meet your tour guide at Jackson Square, and then stop at four mouth-watering stops in the French Quarter. On this tour, the more famous eateries are cast aside in favor of New Orleans's hidden gem establishments. Enjoy dishes from restaurants that tourists otherwise would overlook if not for a knowledgeable, local guide to show them how to eat like a resident in The Quarter.

Intrepid Urban Adventures tour guides are full of energy and dedication to their city, and their passion is reflected in their tour. You'll learn historical facts about the French Quarter that many locals aren't even aware of. Even if you've lived in NOLA all your life, this tour makes for a worthwhile adventure for anyone who wants to learn about the famous heart of New Orleans while enjoying some unconventional eats.

Tastebud Food Tours

Whether you're on the hunt for a taste of the best seafood in the city, a strong and refreshing cocktail, or the most iconic flavors of Cajun and Creole cuisine, Tastebud Tours has you covered. The company offers seven distinct food tour options, as well as options for private tours and large group tours. Learn to craft three famous New Orleans cocktails and discover the history behind them with Tastebud Tour's cocktail class. Or, tour the famous foods of the French Quarter and enjoy a boozy bourbon brunch followed by a bourbon-focused cocktail class.

We recommend a seafood-centric tour that showcases the best fish dishes in the city. Visit the Court of Two Sisters, famous for its enticing brunch offerings and lively jazz accompaniment. You'll stop at Cornet Restaurant, home of the largest balcony in The Quarter, perfect for celebrating Mardi Gras and treating yourself to some fresh and steamy crawfish étouffée. Next, you'll visit New Orleans Creole Cookery, a NOLA staple offering chargrilled oysters and shrimp remoulade. These restaurants are steeped in history and contribute to the diverse culture that makes New Orleans such an enticing spot for travelers.

Nola Detours

Nola Detours boasts off-the-beaten-path sightseeing — a tempting option for travelers who want to experience a city in all its glory. The company hosts backstage music tours, sight-seeing drives, haunted tours, and, most importantly, culinary excursions. Embark on a cocktail tour as you take in the view of the centuries-old city from the rooftop bar of the esteemed Royal Orleans Hotel — an experience that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on every newcomer to New Orleans.

Choose Nola Detours' street food tour, where you'll be led to low-key spots that are usually only frequented by locals. Here, you can get the real Nawlins treatment. Experience some of the most authentic cuisine in the city, including a stop where guests can try alligator meat — a Louisiana delicacy . The tour is led by a former New Orleans restaurant owner, so you know you're getting first-hand knowledge and experience on the bayou fare that makes New Orleans a coveted culinary haven. As you scour the streets in anticipation of the next delicious treat, you'll visit the famous St. Louis Cathedral and other historical sites to check off your travel itinerary.

WeVenture Taste Of Gumbo

If there's one dish in New Orleans that deserves a tour solely in its honor, it's gumbo. WeVenture offers tours in top urban destinations around the country, including a New Orleans culinary tour with a heavy focus on the rich, savory, and controversial dish native to the distinctive city. No two gumbos are alike, which is why on this tour, visitors experience several variations of the acclaimed dish. Experience fresh seafood and veggies melded together thanks to an expertly prepared roux accompanied by a hearty scoop of rice, making it filling enough to grant it dinner status. You can then decide for yourself if you're team tomato in gumbo or prefer to pass on the tart flavor, and whether you prefer a light or dark roux .

On The Taste of Gumbo Tour, you'll meet your guide in Jackson Square and stroll through the French Quarter sampling various gumbos, each with a distinct style and made with different meats and seafood. Discover each immigrant culture's contributions to the gumbo recipe that we know and love today, and learn about all of the different styles of the dish throughout history. New Orleans's storied past is reflected in this iconic dish, so let WeVenture be your gourmet gumbo guru on this French Quarter quest.

New Orleans School Of Cooking

Our list concludes with an unconventional and compelling tour experience. Learn to cook Louisiana's renowned dishes under the tutelage of skilled chefs. Fueled by a passion for the Cresent City and a love for the bounty of the Gulf Coast, the chefs of The New Orleans School of Cooking delight in educating and entertaining tourists. You'll be given a brief history of the city as well as a list of fun facts and tidbits about the food before you witness it come to life before your eyes.

Here, you'll get to prepare from scratch a New Orleans staple meal with a highly skilled chef by your side to guide you through the fun and informative journey. After the class, sit down and enjoy a family-style meal over chatter about the New Orleans experience. This culinary adventure is bound to leave a lasting impression. Now that you've obtained the skill necessary to cook top-tier Louisiana fare, you can prepare the perfect meals for Mardi Gras back home to impress friends at a NOLA-themed party.
