The Real PGA Tour Money List for 2023: Rahm, Hovland, McIlroy & More

top 150 pga tour money list

Scottie Scheffler topped the traditional money list, but that was before $75 million in FedEx Cup payouts — find out who’s truly No. 1 in 2022-23.

Entering the 2023 Tour Championship — the finale of the FedEx Cup Playoffs and by extension this year’s PGA Tour campaign — Scottie Scheffler was on the doorstep of golf history. Already the Tour’s record-holder for single-season tournament winnings at just over $21 million, he had a chance to score some serious style points and nearly double his financial haul.

Due to FedEx Cup regulations, his status as playoff points leader meant that he even got to start out the Tour Championship at Atlanta’s East Lake Golf Club at -10, two strokes ahead of the No. 2 competitor on the leaderboard.

When the dust had settled on Aug. 27, however, Scheffler finished just sixth, though he nonetheless earned a $2 million FedEx Cup payout that wasn’t so far off from the handsome $2.7 million he received for winning The Masters in 2022.

Viktor Hovland, meanwhile? The No. 3 money winner from the regular PGA Tour season increased his annual on-course earnings by an incredible 127% in outlasting the Tour Championship field and claiming the FedEx Cup’s eye-popping $18 million top prize.

That’s a lot to process, to say the least. So, what does the “real” year-end PGA Tour money list look like when a full $75 million in playoff bonuses gets factored in?

We went ahead and crunched the numbers for you — check out Boardroom’s full 2022-23 PGA Tour earnings rundown that combines the traditional money list with the final FedEx Cup payout numbers.

Get on our list for weekly sports business, industry trends, interviews, and more.

Combined 2022-23 PGA Tour Money List Earnings & FedEx Cup Payouts

NOTE: Additional bonus money will be handed out to top players later this year when the PGA Tour announces the top finishers for its Player Impact Program, which seeks to rank the most popular golfers on the Tour regardless of tournament performance.

Payday at TPC Sawgrass

Players Championship prize money payout: Here's how much money each golfer earned at TPC Sawgrass

2079011031

Jared C. Tilton

Money, money, money. For better or worse, it’s the underlying subplot regarding the uncertain future of men’s professional golf. And if you pay attention to social media, for worse seems to be far outweighing for better these days. If there is a tipping point regarding how much golf fans care about how much tour pros are making in tournaments, it feels like that point has likely passed.

That said, you can’t ignore that this week at the 50th anniversary of the Players Championship, the 144 golfers in the field were playing for A LOT of money. It’s just a fact; the overall purse up for grabs at TPC Sawgrass was $25 million, the most of any event on the PGA Tour. And the prize money payout for the winner, Scottie Scheffler, was also a record amount, with $4.5 million going to the last man standing. Scheffler shot a final-round 64 to end at 20 under par and win in back-to-back weeks—following his Arnold Palmer Invitational win last Sunday—and for the first time in tournament history, back-to-back years, following his 2023 Players title. Brian Harman, Xander Schauffele and Wyndham Clark tied for second a shot back. Clark's birdie attempt on the 72nd hole was halfway in the hole, but rimmed out in dramatic fashion.

The prize money payout has grown substantially in a short period of time. As we have noted previously , when Rory McIlroy won the Players just five years ago, he claimed a then-record $2.25 million for his victory. But now a solo fifth place finish this week earns you $1.025 million.

Indulge us for our annual review of just how much the prize money has risen—again for better or worse—at this championship over the years. It's seems only appropriate to revisit given the golden anniversary being celebrated this year.

Year: Total Purse/First place 1974: $250,000/Jack Nicklaus, $50,000 1982: $500,000/Jerry Pate, $90,000 1987: $1 million/Sandy Lyle, $180,000 1993: $2.5 million/Nick Price, $450,000 2000: $6 million/Hal Sutton, $1.08 million 2007: $9 million/Phil Mickelson, $1.62 million 2014: $10 million/Martin Kaymer, $1.8 million 2018: $11 million/Webb Simpson, $1.89 million 2019: $12.5 million/Rory McIlroy, $2.25 million 2021: $15 million/Justin Thomas, $2.7 million 2022: $20 million/Cameron Smith, $3.6 million 2023: $25 million/Scottie Scheffler, $4.5 million

2024 Valspar Championship money: Purse, payout breakdown, winner’s share

Keith Mitchell holds a two-shot lead heading into the final round of the Valspar Championship.

Getty Images

Sunday could be a big day for Keith Mitchell. The 32-year-old took the lead at the Valspar Championship in dramatic fashion on Saturday, holing out from the fairway on the 18th hole for eagle to claim a two-shot advantage heading into the final round.

A win at Innisbrook’s Copperhead course would mark the second of Mitchell’s career, following his 2019 victory at the Honda Classic. And, it would come with a sweet payday: $1.512 million of an $8.4 million purse.

But Mitchell’s chasers aren’t going to make it easy for him. Two-time PGA Tour winner Mackenzie Hughes is only two shots back, and 11 other players are within four shots of Mitchell’s lead at 10 under, including Cameron Young and Brendon Todd (-7) and Adam Hadwin (-6).

Check out an entire purse breakdown for the 2024 Valspar Championship below.

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Ludvig Aberg robbed the trophy hunt of any drama by shooting 61 to win by four strokes at the RSM Classic , but the final round at Sea Island Resort’s Seaside Course still had plenty of Sunday drama thanks to the tournament within the tournament.

On the final day of the 2022-23 PGA Tour season, a veteran rallied to keep full status for next season, a bubble boy had his bubble pop and another veteran pro shed tears after the realization that he had failed in his quest to stay in the top 125.

Here’s a look at how things shook out for The Next 10, the top 125 and the top 150 on Sunday.

Ryan Moore delivers, Troy Merritt hangs on, Carl Yuan's bubble bursts

2023 RSM Classic

Ryan Moore came through in the clutch. Entering the week at No. 128, he shot bogey-free rounds of 62-65 to finish T-8 at the RSM Classic and vault to No. 118 and earn full status for the 2024 season. He was the only player to move into the top 125 in the FedEx Cup Fall standings and will be exempt into all full-field events and the Players Championship next season.

“I thought I needed that birdie on 17 to get it done, or at least one in those last two. I somehow just made that one go in,” he said, noting the nerves reminded him of trying to win a golf tournament coming down the stretch. “Starting this fall at I think 150th or something like that, I was pretty far out of it, a lot of points out of it.”

One of the differences for Moore this fall was a change in putters to an Odyssey Rossie AI putter.

“We had it narrowed down to like two or three putters that looked pretty good, and my 7-year-old was out there, Sully, and I was like, ‘Hey buddy, which one you like better?’ He walked over, kind of examined them. He was like that one. I was like, I’m committing to it.”

Troy Merritt, who started the week at No. 123 and missed the cut on Friday, hung on to the final spot at No. 125 in the standings by less than two points. The hard-luck loser was Carl Yuan. He entered the week as the bubble boy at 125 and remained there heading into the final round. He made birdies on his final two holes but it wasn’t enough as he sprinkled four bogeys on his card and finished with an even-par 70 (T-68) and slipped to No. 126 in the standings.

“It was a pressure week, not gonna lie,” he said. “I didn’t leave any out there.”

But he noted that his back bothered him this week and may have affected his play.

“The bed at the Airbnb is just too soft for me, started bugging me on like Thursday night,” he said. “Tried to rehab and do stuff like that, but definitely bugged me a little bit. You know, that comes with the profession. I’ve got to handle my body well. It’s my responsibility.”

Conditional status is better than no status

Yuan looked at the bright side. He’ll still get starts by playing out of the Nos. 126-150 category. That’s more than Paul Haley II can look forward to next season.

Patton Kizzire, who has had full status since 2015, shed tears during a post-round interview.

“I’ve tried to keep the emotions down, but they’re kind of coming on right now,” he said. “This is what I’ve always wanted to do since I was a kid. They asked me what I wanted to do when I was in second grade and I said I want to be a professional golfer and I’ve never changed my mind, so here I am.”

Kelly Kraft and Vince Whaley both leaped inside the top 150 this week, though Whaley had a medical exemption as a backup plan.

“You never want to be in this position let alone I’m fighting to stay inside the top 150 because I played so terrible the first half of the year,” Kraft said. “Would have been a little more fun trying to stay inside the 125, but the way I played for most of the year until really towards the end and then now the fall, I played terrible and I kind of deserved to lose my card after playing that way. I turned it on this fall, I played great, made every cut, some top-25 finishes, so proud of the way I played this fall.”

Kraft delivered on Sunday with a 5-under 65, including a clutch birdie at 17.

“It was the most nervy round of the year,” he said. “Hit a lot of good shots under the gun. Hit a couple bad shots today that were just purely nervous swings.”

The unlucky two to fall out of the top 150 were Webb Simpson, who has exemption status from wins through 2026, and Paul Haley II, who missed the cut and fell to No. 151.

While conditional status beats nothing, Kraft said he would be in Florida for Q-School, where five full-exempt status cards are available.

“I spent my 3,500 bucks and signed up for it, so right now I’m planning on going,” Kraft said. “They’re full cards, so I can, you know, just go there and hit it at every hole and try to finish first. If I can improve my status, then I will.”

Status was long ago secured for those battling for the Next 10 but Sunday mattered to them nonetheless. Nos. 51-60 in the standings qualify for two Signature Events in 2024 via The Next 10 (AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, The Genesis Invitational). One player moved in: champion Ludvig Åberg jumped from No. 96 to No. 53. Alex Smalley fell out from No. 57 to No. 61.

J.J. Spaun was on the outside looking in heading into the final round but made eight birdies and shot 7-under 63 to finish T-13 and hang on to the No. 59 spot. Sam Ryder, the bubble boy at No. 60 entering the week, made an eagle at No. 5 and closed in 68 to finish T-13. He made a bogey at 16 and was projected at No. 60. In clutch fashion, he made par and birdie to finish out the week and complete his goal of earning Signature Event starts on the West Coast.

2024 PGA TOUR full-membership fantasy rankings

Change Text Size

Sometimes, the more things change, the more they, well, change. This year, perhaps more than any other in memory, personifies that twist on the familiar phrase.

This is my annual full-membership fantasy ranking. It’s for the 2024 season. Note the absence of a hyphen. No more wraparounds. So, this is the first time since 2012 that my largest project of the year has dropped in December. That’s but the first of a series of adjustments that soon will become second nature for all of us.

In addition to the ranking across these pages, there is a one-page Cheat Sheet, and it’s printable! It’s perfect for draft leaguers because it’s meant for draft leaguers.

FULL-MEMBERSHIP RANKINGS : Intro | 1-50 | 51-100 | 101-150 | 151-200 | 201-223 | Cheat sheet

This also is a one-time post. It will not be updated. So, if you’re usage extends into the season, merely apply what’s occurred and acknowledge that values will rise in time. In effect, aside from new injuries that can crush opening value, no one plummets in the short range, but golfers most definitely will vault from positions with hot starts. This especially relates to winners of tournaments for which the full allocation of FedExCup points is awarded. They become automatically eligible for all remaining Signature Events . Because this is a predictable result, I’ve added “SE” beside all who have gained entry into the full slate in Qualifiers .

Of the eight Signature Events, only The Genesis Invitational, the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard and the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday will have a 36-hole cut. All of the other five guarantee four rounds per entrant, which means a guaranteed output for investors. So, the golfers already eligible for the Signature Events are obvious targets in your draft.

Golfers who scale into The Next 10 and The Swing 5 will not appear in Qualifiers, and because real-time form determines who fills each subset, neither influences opening fantasy value in this ranking. For comprehensive information on these qualifications, their cadence, the Signature Events as a whole and numerous other details, read this .

All of the golfers ranked include ages, 2022-23 earnings (“salary”) and levels of status on the PGA TOUR. An asterisk beside a salary value indicates that a golfer is a bargain.

If a golfer earned $0 last season, you’ll see “--“ with no asterisk beside him because that’s a given. Salaries for golfers who were non-members in 2022-23 are determined by the combined totals of official money and earnings at the World Golf Championship-Dell Technologies Match Play. To determine salaries for all non-members, refer to the “TOTAL MONEY” column in “Non-Member Off+WGC Earnings” . To view 2022-23 non-members Min Woo Lee, Ryan Fox, Nicolai Højgaard and others who do not appear when you first land on the page, select the Butterfield Bermuda Championship in the Tournament field. However, note that all golfers affected by their initial omission when navigating to the page and who qualify for the ranking based on status are included below with accurate salaries (e.g., Min Woo Lee, 2.812M).

Levels of status via the 2022-23 FedExCup are broken down as follows with corresponding exemptions:

STATUS = BERTHS

• Top 125 = Entry into most opens and THE PLAYERS Championship.

• Top 70 = Qualified for the 2023 FedExCup Playoffs to improve position but didn’t earn exemptions into every Signature Event in 2024.

• Top 50 = Eligible for all Signature Events in 2024.

• Top 30 = Exemptions into every tournament before the Playoffs except the PGA Championship. Their membership exemptions also are extended through the 2025 season if they aren’t already.

Other levels of status are as follows:

• Top 30 (2022) = Only Aaron Wise, who is fully exempt through 2024 for reaching the TOUR Championship in 2022.

• Multi-year = Winners prior to 2022-23 who didn’t finish inside the top 125 of the FedExCup but still have fully exempt status.

• Career earnings exemptions = Zach Johnson and Davis Love III.

• Non-member Top 125 = Min Woo Lee and Nicolai Højgaard. They are fully exempt members in 2024.

• Medical Extensions = Terms to fulfill are noted where possible. Short of a victory that would yield an automatic promotion into the winners category, golfers on Major Medicals would retain status in the same Priority Ranking for the remainder of the season if they fulfill their terms. Golfers with other medicals would be promoted to the Major Medical category for the remainder. Follow all golfers on medicals here .

• DPWT = 2023 DP World Tour Race to Dubai (10 golfers).

• KFT = Korn Ferry Tour graduates (30 golfers).

• Q-School = PGA Tour Qualifying School presented by Korn Ferry graduates (5 golfers).

• PGA TOUR Accelerated = Only Gordon Sargent, who can accept membership after the conclusion of the college season.

• Conditional = Nos. 126-150 in the 2022-23 FedExCup.

There are 28 rookies to open the season. They are noted accordingly. Others are first-time PGA TOUR members (via the DP World Tour and KFT), but each exhausted his rookie eligibility in a prior season. My Rookie Ranking migrated from this website to a season-long thread on X for the entirety of 2022-23. Click here to read it. I will start a new thread for the 2024 rookies.

As the winner of the 2023 PGA Professional Championship, Braden Shattuck is allowed up to six somewhat restricted starts but he is omitted from the ranking. There are no Life Members in 2024.

Not excluded from the sweeping changes in 2024 is how the reshuffles will work. There are now only two categories.

The higher-positioned of the pair replaces what was only Korn Ferry Tour graduates and former graduates on medical extensions. It now consists of Nos. 2-10 among the DP World Tour top 10, Nos. 2-30 among the 30 Korn Ferry Tour grads (and previous grads with medicals) and all five Q-School grads. They will open the season in separate categories and will remain in that order through the Valero Texas Open after which all golfers in these categories will be reordered into a singular category based on FedExCup points. They will reorder only once more at the conclusion of the Wyndham Championship. Golfers via PGA TOUR University and PGA TOUR University Accelerated can be added midseason. I will continue to monitor these golfers here .

The other reshuffle category combines the golfers on conditional status (Nos. 126-150 in the 2022-23 FedExCup) with all members who finished outside the top 150 in the FedExCup. Similarly, they will open the season in separate categories but will reorder earlier and more frequently, at least six times into the FedExCup Fall. Golfers who achieve and accept Special Temporary Membership can be added midseason (more on this below). There is not a dedicated page to monitor this grouping because fantasy value is extremely low in the long term.

Another new wrinkle introduces opportunities for golfers who finished Nos. 126-200 in the 2022-23 FedExCup. They can accept membership on the DP World Tour and play tournaments on that circuit. Details of this conduit are outlined here . Gamers interested in golfers eligible for this secondary initiative are advised to monitor it closely and maintain shorter leashes than usual until we learn how this plays out both individually and in the macro.

For non-members eligible for PGA TOUR competition in 2024, as of Dec. 18, the target to achieve Special Temporary Membership is 262.946 FedExCup points. This was Paul Haley II’s total from his position at 150th in the 2022-23 FedExCup. If you were not aware, I tracked notable non-members throughout last season on X. This is the last entry of the thread that extends from the beginning of the season. I will launch a new thread for this as well in 2024.

With winners of THE PLAYERS Championship and majors earning 750 FedExCup points and winners of Signature Events banking 700, PGA TOUR Fantasy Golf gamers will have even more reason to lean into chalk for the biggies.

Half of the eight Signature Events are in Segment 1, while Segments 2 and 3 each have two majors and two Signature Events. THE PLAYERS opens Segment 2. View the entire schedule here . Motivations always vary in real-time, so be on the lookout for weekly advice in my preview material.

Hit me on X anytime, publicly or privately, and I will communicate with you as soon as time allows. In the meantime and as always, have fun, listen and learn, and remain fluid. In fantasy, in reality.

2024 Houston Open one and done picks, top sleepers, rankings: PGA Tour predictions, expert golf betting advice

Mike mcclure locked in his expert pga one and done golf picks, projected leaderboard, and sleepers for texas children's houston open 2024 at memorial park golf course in houston.

The push towards the 2024 Masters is on with the PGA Tour descending upon the Lone Star State this week for the 2024 Texas Children's Houston Open at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler headlines the 2024 Houston Open field. Scheffler, a Texas native, notched outright wins in his last two starts at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship, and enters this week as the heavy betting favorite at 14-5 in the latest 2024 Texas Children's Houston Open odds. He is followed by Wyndham Clark (14-1), Tony Finau (18-1), Will Zalatoris (18-1), Sahith Theegala (20-1), Jason Day (28-1), and Si Woo Kim (35-1). The total 2024 Houston Open purse is $9.1 million, with the winner's share coming in at $1.638 million. The winner of this event will also earn 500 FedEx Cup points.

In a wide open field, would it make sense to back Scheffler this week in One and Done pools? Or would this be a good week to target a long shot like Beau Hossler, Billy Horschel, or Kurt Kitayama? Before locking in your 2024 Texas Children's Houston Open one and done picks, you need to see what SportsLine DFS pro and PGA expert Mike McClure has to say .

The One and Done format is growing in popularity. It has several noticeable similarities to NFL Survivor pools, with the main difference being entries are not eliminated with a bad week. Players pick one golfer per week and earn points based on their selected golfer's prize money for that tournament. Golfers can only be used once per season, and the point format makes nailing majors, signature events, and big money tournaments critical.

McClure is a DFS legend with over $2 million in career winnings, and he's been red-hot on his PGA picks dating back to the PGA Tour restart in June of 2020. McClure uses his proprietary simulation model to analyze the field and crush his  golf picks .

McClure has been on fire with his One and Done picks in 2024. At The American Express he backed Justin Thomas, who finished in third place and took home $635,600. At the Genesis Invitational, McClure tabbed Patrick Cantlay, who finished in fourth place at the signature event, as his top OAD pick. At the Cognizant Classic, McClure's top one and done pick, Min Woo Lee, finished in a tie for second place. Finally, at the Arnold Palmer Invitation, another signature event, McClure recommended using Scottie Scheffler and Will Zalatoris. The Result: Scheffler won the event by five strokes, and Zalatoris finished in fourth place.

His hot steak continued at the Players Championship, where McClure again recommended using Scheffler (if was still available) and Xander Schauffele. Both players were in contention until the end, with Scheffler coming out with the win and Schauffele finishing in second place. Then, at last week's Valspar Championship, McClure recommended using Cameron Young, who finished in second place, in OAD pools.

Now, McClure has dialed in on the Texas Children's Houston Open golf tournament and just locked in his one and done picks and PGA predictions. They are a must-see for any player looking for an edge in their One and Done pool. You can only see McClure's Texas Children's Houston Open 2024 one and done picks at SportsLine .

Top 2024 Houston One and Done picks

One of McClure's top OAD picks this week at Memorial Park is 30-year-old Wyndham Clark. The reigning U.S. Open champion has three career PGA Tour victories, with one of those coming at this year's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Clark also notched a win at this year's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and finished in second place at The Players and the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The Denver, Colo. native has climbed to No. 4 in the Official World Golf Ranking and has become a threat to win any tournament he enters. Clark enters this week ranked third on the PGA Tour in total strokes gained (1.869), eighth in strokes gained tee-to-green (1.214), 12th in strokes gained putting (0.656), and 17th in strokes gained on approach (0.615). With the Houston Open field being wide open, McClure expects Clark to be in contention until the end.  You can see who else to back at SportsLine .

How to make Texas Children's Houston Open 2024 One and Done picks

McClure is also targeting another golfer for his 2024 Texas Children's Houston Open one and done picks who has a long track record of success against elite competition. This former major championship winner has the ability to win any tournament he enters, and is one of the most talented golfers in this field. You can find out who it is, and check out all of McClure's Texas Children's Houston Open one and done picks at SportsLine .

Who wins the the Texas Children's Houston Open 2024, and which golfers should you target for your PGA one and done picks this week at Memorial Park Golf Course?
