We Love What We Do and it Shows

The Garden District Tour with Betsy was better than we expected. Lots of great, fun facts & history, along with getting to see the magnificent homes. Really appreciated Betsy keeping us in the shade and the bathroom break with air conditioning. Small group was also a bonus. We were booked for the Brothel Tour as well (discount for 2nd booking!), but had to cancel because of flight change. Two Chicks was so gracious. Easy cancellation and refund. Another nice feature was the ability to add tip when booking. Great to not have hassle of finding (or remembering to find) an ATM before the tour.

If I could give a higher review, I would. My friends and I spent the week in New Orleans and booked all the available tours that Two Chicks had to offer: the Brothels, Bordellos, and Ladies of the Night; the French Quarter Stroll; and the Garden District Tour. We had Karen for all three tours, and fantastic wouldn't even begin to describe her. Not only did we have a great time on the tours seeing so much and learning about the history of New Orleans, but she also went out of her way to reach out throughout the week with dining and activities suggestions and she even sent me a message on my birthday. We never felt rushed on our tours and having locals say hi to her & jokingly call her "Mom" as we walked by was a glowing review in and of itself. I wish they had even more tours because if we could have spent the whole week with Karen, we would have! We look forward to going back to New Orleans soon and using Two Chicks again!

We visited NOLA last week and I am so happy I found 2 Chicks Walking Tours! We originally booked the French Quarter tour. Karen was our guide and she is amazing! She took us to areas that we would not have seen on our own. Her knowledge of the area is unmatched! We then booked the Garden Quarter tour for another day with Karen and that was equally as wonderful! She was so informative of the current areas as well as their history. She gave us some lunch and dinner recommendations in both areas and we tried several of them - they were all fantastic as well! I highly recommend, Thank you! Debbi & Ron

I learned a lot. Dannal was very informative and answered all questions. The walk was just the right amount of time. There were many interesting facts learned.

I took the French Quarter and Garden District tours. Both tours were great, as was our tour guide. Highly recommended.

"We had a blast on Christine’s French Quarter tour! She was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, adaptable, and professional. She showed us some real New Orleans magic. I would take any of these tours and recommend them to everyone I know! Truly a wonderful experience, there couldn’t be a better way to see New Orleans. It’s an afternoon I will always treasure. Thank you again!"

"We made this stroll through the French Quarter at our first day in New Orleans. It was a very nice overview for the beginning. The group had only 6 people thought we could ask a lot of questions. Our tour guide was very well informed."

"Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Took time to connect with all of us and answer our questions. Ended at a nice local book shop and gave me a few recommendations. Great way to start your New Orleans trip."

"We had a wonderful tour with Christine at Two Chicks Walking Tours. She is very knowledgeable of New Orleans and it’s history. She was a pleasure to work with. Please support her business. If you're lucky (like us) you might meet a celebrity."

"I recommend this tour to everyone! First timers to been to NO before wanting to see more! Kristine was our tour guide and this is her company! She knows a lot about New Orleans and has a cool map to show you the growth of the city through hundreds of years. The Garden District is a must see. My friends and I loved it and could not stop talking about it. The flowers blooming everywhere were so beautiful as we went end of April/early May. Well worth the money to go with a tour guide who is as passionate as Kristine! (*Covid 19 rules still in play and safety/ social distancing* and we went with a nice small group, Kristine made us feel comfortable getting to know the other couples that went with us)Informative and fun tour of the Garden District. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Took time to connect with all of us and answer our questions. Ended at a nice local book shop and gave me a few recommendations. Great way to start your New Orleans trip."

Compliance status

Screen-reader and keyboard navigation.

  • Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. For example, we provide accurate form labels; descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal dialogues (popups), and others. Additionally, the background process scans all of the website’s images and provides an accurate and meaningful image-object-recognition-based description as an ALT (alternate text) tag for images that are not described. It will also extract texts that are embedded within the image, using an OCR (optical character recognition) technology. To turn on screen-reader adjustments at any time, users need only to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen-reader users also get automatic announcements to turn the Screen-reader mode on as soon as they enter the website. These adjustments are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.
  • Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the website’s HTML, and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the website operable by the keyboard. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.Additionally, keyboard users will find quick-navigation and content-skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first elements of the site while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside of it.Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

Disability profiles supported in our website

  • Epilepsy Safe Mode: this profile enables people with epilepsy to use the website safely by eliminating the risk of seizures that result from flashing or blinking animations and risky color combinations.
  • Visually Impaired Mode: this mode adjusts the website for the convenience of users with visual impairments such as Degrading Eyesight, Tunnel Vision, Cataract, Glaucoma, and others.
  • Cognitive Disability Mode: this mode provides different assistive options to help users with cognitive impairments such as Dyslexia, Autism, CVA, and others, to focus on the essential elements of the website more easily.
  • ADHD Friendly Mode: this mode helps users with ADHD and Neurodevelopmental disorders to read, browse, and focus on the main website elements more easily while significantly reducing distractions.
  • Blindness Mode: this mode configures the website to be compatible with screen-readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack. A screen-reader is software for blind users that is installed on a computer and smartphone, and websites must be compatible with it.
  • Keyboard Navigation Profile (Motor-Impaired): this profile enables motor-impaired persons to operate the website using the keyboard Tab, Shift+Tab, and the Enter keys. Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

Additional UI, design, and readability adjustments

  • Font adjustments – users, can increase and decrease its size, change its family (type), adjust the spacing, alignment, line height, and more.
  • Color adjustments – users can select various color contrast profiles such as light, dark, inverted, and monochrome. Additionally, users can swap color schemes of titles, texts, and backgrounds, with over 7 different coloring options.
  • Animations – epileptic users can stop all running animations with the click of a button. Animations controlled by the interface include videos, GIFs, and CSS flashing transitions.
  • Content highlighting – users can choose to emphasize important elements such as links and titles. They can also choose to highlight focused or hovered elements only.
  • Audio muting – users with hearing devices may experience headaches or other issues due to automatic audio playing. This option lets users mute the entire website instantly.
  • Cognitive disorders – we utilize a search engine that is linked to Wikipedia and Wiktionary, allowing people with cognitive disorders to decipher meanings of phrases, initials, slang, and others.
  • Additional functions – we provide users the option to change cursor color and size, use a printing mode, enable a virtual keyboard, and many other functions.

Libby was great and showed us the french quarter alongside stories about the amazing history of New Orleans. That's the way to get to know a city, and in NOLA every house has a story. Would defently recommend this tour to anyone coming to the city as the first thing to do before you decide what to do next. Enjoy!

Libby was everything you would want out of a tour guide: personable, professional, and knowledgeable. The stories she told were both entertaining and informative. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who would like to add a layer of culture and history to their New Orleans trip. Thank you, Libby!

We joined the French Quarter tour on July 5 and it turned out it was just the two of us and our guide, Josh. Josh provided information and shared many stories about New Orleans in general and the French Quarter in particular. He really provided a sense of the city historically and in the present. We could answer questions about lots of topics and were given great answers. We highly recommend this tour and company.

James is the best tour guide ever, he’s hilarious! My husband and I could not stop laughing, we had a wonderful time. We would honestly take this tour again just for James because it felt like we were with a long-time friend, who knew a lot of history!

Our guide Suzanne Stone was absolute wonderful. She was very knowledgeable of the history and identity of buildings where strange things happened in NOLA. We loved hearing her stories and information of the people and development of the French Quarter. We would definitely request her and recommend her to all our friends.

Libby was truly amazing. Her depth and breadth of knowledge about New Orleans history was inspiring, and her passion for sharing it all with us kept us enthusiastically engaged the entire time. Our 10 year old daughter truly loved your storytelling, too! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Never been to New Orleans before and decided to take the family and kids tour. Ms. Libby is a one of a kind lady! She brought the kids little gifts that with their simplicity and the stories they carry open all our hearts. The candy, the food and most of all Ms. Libby's stories made us full in love with New Orleans and we will be coming back for more. Thank you so much Ms. Libby we will never forget you."

Ms. Peak was so kind and informative, the crafts were cute and the kids enjoyed them. She definitely made the best out of a rainy situation and made what could have been a bad thing a good one!! Loved her energy and I will definitely be recommending the tour to my friends with kids! Great job!

Our Guests Love Our Local Knowledge!

The private tour of New Orleans with Michaela is an absolute must-do. She is a 4th generation New Orleanian and is the real deal. She lives and breathes the city. She seemed to know everyone on the street which made the random historical and cultural tangents all the more interesting. She gives an in-depth background to NO but also gives you her own perspective about the many changes that have taken place there.

I've been to New Orleans before but never saw it like this! Michaela showed us the French, Spanish and English architecture around uptown. The garden district homes are grand and amazing! But my favorite was the cute, little, colorful shotguns in the Irish Channel. She was a great guide! I will definitely try another private tour with her again next time I visit New Orleans.

Michaela was not only an excellent and professional guide she was incredibly accommodating with all of the requests we made. She was wonderful company and extremely knowledgeable about the history of New Orleans. Our private tour with her was one of the highlights of our entire USA trip.

She [Michaela] took us all around the various districts of New Orleans highlighting its history from the early days to the present. She also was very flexible making sure we saw the things we wanted to while working around an on-again, off-again rain. We stopped at a restaurant for a quick lunch and got a true flavor of New Orleans' po-boys.

I wish I could rate this more than 5 Star! Michaela was fantastic, 3rd generation from New Orleans, it was so informative and absolutely a lot of fun. We have been to NOLA many times but never saw all the wonderful parks, houses, churches, and battleground before. Her knowledge of history and architecture was amazing. We will be returning again next year and will definitely plan another day with Michaela maybe even two.

Michaela has infectious talent for meeting new people and guiding your tour of New Orleans! Needless to say, she was THE BEST GUIDE we have ever had. She knew beautiful New Orleans spot-on and projected her love and depth of knowledge with great enthusiasm. We learned A TON, and it all came alive as she added brillant tidbits from the years she has lived there. She took us to the places she thought we would enjoy, and those spots were not your typical "tourist places."

I contacted Tours by Steven and spoke with him. I liked him instantly. He was perfectly accommodating of our specific needs. He sent me additional recommendations for local spots we might like while in NOLA and I was able to incorporate some into our plans. Steven himself led our tour. He called ahead to confirm and make sure I had no questions. He was energetic, witty, engaging, and clearly loved his city. His knowledge of the history and paranormal activity was top notch. I highly recommend Tours by Steven.

private walking tours new orleans

So I will admit, I was the one in our group that wasn’t really excited for our tour. However, I was ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY by Steven and the tour! I would highly recommend this to anyone even considering doing a tour! It was very enlightening on the history of New Orleans and also very educational on the current city. Highly, Highly recommend!!

couple on walking tour in New Orleans, LA

We started our stay with the walking tour to St. Louis Cemetery #1. Our guide, Karen was very knowledgeable of the cemetery and the area. It was a very warm, sunny humid day. She made sure we stood in the shade whenever possible. There was not much shade. Ask for Karen if possible.

group of people at historical site in New Orleans, LA

My wife and I took an early morning tour of St. Louis Cemetery #1 with Diana and were fascinated by the stories this place had to tell. Diana was a great guide and gave us the real history behind many of the things we had heard and seen on our trip to New Orleans. Definitely worth the time to check out if you have the time and want to learn more about the city. We would recommend going in the morning to avoid the crowds and the heat.

girl in front of building in the French Quarter

Brian provided a great tour that engaged teens and adults in the history, architecture and overall city environment of NOLA. He explained things very well and took lots of questions. He provided some great tips on other things to do and see in the city. We took his advice on a restaurant/music venue and on bike tours. He was spot on!! He checked in on us a few times during the two hours to make sure everyone was OK with the heat; bathroom breaks, water, etc. We did cover a lot of ground but everyone in the group was agreeable to it. Highly recommend this as a great way to start a NOLA visit!

private walking tours new orleans

My husband and I enjoyed the French Quarter Tour with Chad and a Garden District Tour with Sarah. Both Sarah and Chad provided great history and local insights. The tour was entertaining and informative. I was especially grateful for the customer service given the terrible weather on the date our first tour was originally planned and took advantage of a discount offer that allowed us to book a second trip while we were in town. I would highly recommend tours by Steven.

headstones at St. Louis cemetery in New Orleans, LA

We had John as our tour guide a couple days ago for the St Louis Cemetery #1 tour and we loved it! We knew it would be interesting and fun, but didn’t expect it to end up being a highlight of our trip! He had so much knowledge about the history, burial process (one of the most interesting things we learned about), and the city in general and had a great sense of humor. This is definitely something you need to add to your list!

private walking tours new orleans

We just got home from a weekend trip to NOLA. We did the cemetery tour Saturday morning. We had the sweetest tour guide named Ginger. She was so knowledgeable and kind. Despite the heat, she moved the tour right along and made sure we stopped in shaded areas. I just loved her! Thank you for making our tour so great!!
