Tata Safari Expert Review
The Tata Safari , a renowned name in the SUV market, was reintroduced in 2021. The 7-seater SUV has now received its first facelift. The 2023 Safari sees extensive updates in its looks, interior, and features.
Within the price range of Rs 25-30 lakhs, the Safari stands as a strong choice for families seeking a spacious SUV, competing with rivals like the MG Hector Plus , Mahindra XUV700 , and the Hyundai Alcazar .
Let's delve deeper into what’s changed.
The shape and dimensions of the Tata Safari remain unaltered. It continues to assert its presence as a large SUV, measuring nearly 4.7 meters in length and 1.8 meters in width. The changes primarily focus on the lighting components, as well as the front and rear bumpers and alloy wheels.
The revamped front end is now more stylish with the connected daytime running lights and body-colored elements on the grille. The bumper design has been completely reimagined and now features LED projector headlights and LED fog lamps. Notably, a functional vent in the bumper contributes to improved aerodynamics.
The side profile remains largely unaltered, with the exception of the fresh alloy wheel design. The base variants (Smart and Pure) are equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, while the mid-spec Adventure model sports 18-inch alloy wheels. In contrast, the top-spec Accomplished and Dark variants feature striking 19-inch alloy wheels.
Observing the rear of the Safari, you'll immediately notice the updated tail light graphics and the redesigned rear bumper.
Color options on the 2023 Tata Safari are as follows:
Tata Motors has adopted a fresh strategy by creating 'Personas' rather than traditional variants, resulting in each Safari variant getting a distinct look and ambiance. The base-spec Smart/Pure versions feature a modest gray upholstery, while the Adventure variant gets chocolate brown upholstery. On the other hand, the top-spec Accomplished variant showcases a Range Rover-like sophisticated white-gray dual-tone interior combination, while the Dark variant gets an all-black cabin theme.
The dashboard of the Safari has undergone a redesign, appearing slimmer and more upmarket. The accent on the dashboard is now slimmer, and the central AC vents have been widened. Beneath, a gloss black panel accommodates the new touch-panel for climate control and other vehicle functions.
Another notable addition is the 4-spoke steering wheel, which gets a classy design and premium look thanks to the white-grey two-tone wrapping. The wheel also features an illuminated logo and backlit switches for music/calls and instrument cluster control.
In terms of fit and finish, there is a marked difference, evident in the improved panel alignment and material quality consistency.
Regarding cabin space, there are no noteworthy differences. The wide-opening doors make ingress effortless, although it's advisable to install side steps if elderly passengers frequently use the vehicle. The rear seat space remains spacious as ever, with ample room for a six-footer to sit comfortably behind a six-foot-tall driver.
However, Tata has not incorporated one-touch tumble functionality for the third row. To access the third row in the captain seat version, one can walk through the middle row or recline and slide the second-row seat forward. While the third row has just about enough space for adults, it's best suited for children during extended journeys. Additionally, there isn't much foot room beneath the second-row seats, requiring passengers to extend at least one foot towards the center.
When all three rows of seats are occupied, the available boot space is non-existent, enough only for a couple of backpacks. Folding down the third row of seats, however, opens up a substantial 420 liters of storage space. Sadly, the third row doesn't fold completely flat, and there's a slight incline that can cause luggage to slide. Folding the second row of seats gets you a generous 827 liters of space.
Here’s a quick runthrough of the new features on the Safari
Dual-Zone Climate Control: This system allows individual temperature settings for the driver and co-driver, and it can be adjusted using the physical controls, touchscreen, or voice commands.
Powered Driver's Seat (with Memory): The driver's seat offers a 6-way power adjustment feature, with manual lumbar adjustment, and includes three memory settings for added convenience.
12.3-Inch Touchscreen: The free-floating touchscreen, featuring a sleek bezel, exudes a premium feel. It offers clear and crisp graphics with quick response times. This screen can also be used to access various car functions, including climate control, powered tailgate, and ambient lighting. It supports Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
10.25-Inch Instrument Cluster: The instrument cluster provides three distinct views: a single dial view, dual dial view, and digital view. The screen remains legible even in direct sunlight and can be controlled via buttons on the steering wheel.
10-Speaker JBL Sound System: This sound system delivers excellent clarity and deep bass. It includes 13 sound profiles by AudioWorX, allowing you to select equalizer settings tailored to your musical preferences.
360-Degree Camera: The cameras have good resolution, providing the driver with a clear view. Indicating activates the respective camera, simplifying lane changes and tight maneuvers.
Powered Tailgate: The boot can now be opened electrically through various methods, such as using the switch on the boot, the key fob, a mobile app, or the touchscreen. Additionally, a hands-free operation is possible by kicking under the rear bumper.
In addition to these new features, several existing highlight features including front seat ventilation, a powered co-driver's seat with "Boss mode", rear seat ventilation (available in the 6-seater configuration), a panoramic sunroof, and ambient lighting have been retained in the 2023 Safari.
Tata Motors has confirmed that structural enhancements have been incorporated in the new Safari. Standard features include:
Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) is also on offer with the Adventure+ A, Accomplished+ and Accomplished+ Dark variants.
Performance
The Tata Safari retains its single 2.0-litre diesel engine without any changes in its tuning, maintaining the same power output of 170PS and torque of 350Nm. This engine is available with a choice of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Compared to the previous version, you will notice a minor improvement in noise levels inside the cabin.
We’d recommend opting for the automatic version as it makes driving more convenient. The engine's response is adequate for city commuting, and it offers ample power for day-long road trips. Additionally, Tata Motors now provides paddle shifters with the automatic transmission, allowing drivers to manually shift gears if desired.
The Safari maintains its previous drive mode options, including Eco, City, and Sport modes, along with three 'Terrain' modes: Rough, Wet, and Normal.
Ride and Handling
The wheel size has been increased from the previous version’s 18 inches to 19 inches. Tata has fine-tuned the suspension to maintain a comfortable ride and absorb jarring impacts. While you might occasionally sense the road's surface at lower speeds, there's minimal side-to-side rocking on uneven roads. The Safari exudes a sense of confidence and comfort, even when cruising at triple-digit speeds, making family road trips fun.
Tata has also introduced an electric power steering system, which has resulted in improved steering responsiveness. It remains light enough for easy maneuvering in tight urban spaces, including quick u-turns and parking. Steering weight at high speeds is satisfactory too.

What's New?
The facelifted Tata Harrier and Safari have been launched in India. The Tata Harrier facelift is priced from Rs 15.49 lakh with prices for the automatic starting from Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Harrier Dark Edition is priced from Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Safari facelift's prices, meanwhile, start from Rs 16.19 lakh with the automatics and Dark Edition variants both priced from Rs 20.69 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom). The prices are introductory and valid for a limited period. The SUVs are priced at a premium over the outgoing models but pack in a lot more tech than before.
Starting with the exterior, both SUVs now get greater differentiation in design. Both SUVs retain the split headlamp design but now feature full-width lightbars up top with the main headlamps positioned lower down. Both SUVs also get different design bumpers with the Harrier featuring more triangular housings for the headlamps to the Safari’s more rectangular housings. The Safari also gets a silver-finished faux skid-plate element while the Harrier gets a black-finished piece. At the rear, both SUVs get revised tail lamps with a lightbar element along with redesigned bumpers.
Inside, both SUVs get a revised dashboard design with new control surfaces and more tech. Top models now feature a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Furthermore, each trim level – Persona in Tata speak – gets its own unique interior trim finishes to stand out. There’s a lot to talk about by way of features as well with both SUVs packing in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, powered tailgates, panoramic sunroof with mood lights, electronic parking brake with auto hold, ventilated front seats, ventilated seats in second row (Safari), powered driver seat and more.
Tata has also revised the variant names going from the previous XE, XM, XT and XZ variants to using Smart, Pure, Adventure, Fearless and Accomplished. As with the outgoing model, Tata is offering both SUVs with the Dark Edition variants.
Expert Review on Tata Safari
- Solid Road Presence
- Spacious And Comfortable Cabin
- Well-Specced With A Host Of Features
- Heavy Weight Is Quite Noticeable In Traffic
- Automatic Gearbox Could Be More Responsive
- Infotainment System Feels Not The Most Reliable
Like many Tata models the Safari also gets drive modes so you have City, Eco and Sport and yes there is perceptible difference between City and Sport for sure. But there is also a terrain response system a la Land Rover. Rough Road mode, Wet mode and then back to the default City drive mode.
Tata Safari
The Tata Safari carries the rich legacy of the original SUV that was a hit on Indian roads. The new Safari has been completely revamped and comes with more equipment and a whole new look and feel.
How’s the Design?
The Tata Safari has a front fascia that is almost similar to the Harrier. The split headlamp cluster is the same and there is a differentiated tri-arrow pattern for the front grille with chrome finishing. There is a third row of seats now and the roofline is also higher for the SUV along with a rear overhang which is longer. It also comes with a rear quarter glass that is full-sized and the tail-end is also very upright. The tail lights are different from the Harrier though. There are chunkier roof rails which are designed to indicate a stepped roof. The Safari is longer and taller while the wheelbase and width remain the same.
How does it perform?
The Tata Safari’s engine has high levels of refinement while there are Eco, City, and Sport driving modes. The engine offers a wide and punchy power band, while the Sport mode is the best for higher drivability. You can easily get the SUV up to higher speeds although there is some noise when you rev the engine hard. There are 6-speed manual and automatic transmission systems and the driving experience is also neat. The clutch is a little heavy if you are using the manual transmission unit. Slotting the gears will require a little more effort in turn. The automatic version comes with a unit from Hyundai and shifts smoothly engine. The Safari is responsive and agile enough.
How’s the mileage?
- Diesel Manual- 16.14 kmpl
- Diesel Automatic- 14.08 kmpl
How’s the driving experience?
The Tata Safari offers a mixed bag in terms of the driving experience and the ride. The steering feels heavier at lower speeds while higher speeds are not as comforting or balanced. However, the Safari is a good highway cruiser and offers more confidence and stability. The suspension system is more robust and is softer as well, leading to better absorption of bumps at lower speeds. The Safari can readily tackle bad roads, potholes and uneven stretches.
What’s the interior like?
The cabin is quite similar to the Harrier. The dashboard looks neat although the Oyster White interior theme is the stand-out feature here. There is also the electronic parking brake now. There is a great view from the driver’s seat with mostly high quality materials inside. The central console, however, may eat into the driver’s knee room. The 8.8 inch touch screen infotainment unit appears small inside the car. The quality of the rear view camera could also have been better. There is a lengthy feature list including the JBL audio system, panoramic sunroof, and the powered seat for the driver along with connected tech features. Wireless charging is unavailable though. The middle row has theatre-esque seating with a higher placement for the seats. Comfort is great and the overall experience is good enough, with the 60:40 sliding function. There is a Boss mode for adjusting the co-driver’s seat from the back itself. The top-end variant also gets a six-seater configuration with captain’s seats in the middle. These come with great cushioning and comfort, while offering several adjustments and a folding armrest. The rear windows however skip sun blinds and USB slots are hard to find when you venture near the central tunnel. The third row is accessible with the one-touch fold and tumble mechanism. Once you are in position, the space is not that bad. Adults will find decent legroom and the big windows create an airy feeling with blower control and two USB charging slots as well.
Tech and infotainment
The Tata Safari comes with its 8.8 inch touch screen infotainment system with connected car and remote tracking functions, a reverse camera, panoramic sunroof, USB charging slots, JBL audio system, powered driver’s seat, and a lot more.
Safety equipment
The Tata Safari comes with six airbags along with ABS, EBD, ESC, traction control, and brake assist. There are other features including fog lamps, parking sensors, and hill-descent control.
Which variant to buy?
You may check out the XT option if you are on a tighter budget. The XMA is the value pick from all the variants, while if you are okay paying more, then the XZA or XZ variants are par for the course. The XE variant has decent equipment at the entry level including good safety features, projector headlamps, remote central locking, power outlets, and more. The XM trim comes with the automatic transmission option, a 7 inch touch screen infotainment unit, driving modes and more. The XT gets more premium features including TPMS, automatic wipers and headlamps, rear view camera, 18-inch alloy wheels, LE3D DRLs, iRA connectivity suite, ambient lighting, and a lot more. It comes only in the manual guise. The XT offers a panoramic sunroof for an extra amount. The XZ comes with an automatic transmission system and is a value offering with more airbags and safety features, the 8.8 inch touch screen infotainment unit, 7 inch semi-digital instrument console, terrain response modes, JBL audio system, Xenon headlamps, and more. The XZ+ and XZA+ take it up a notch with captain’s chairs and the sunroof but are costlier. The XZ+ Adventure is more popular with buyers due to its interior changes.
Which cars compete in the segment?
The Tata Safari takes on the Mahindra XUV500 and the MG Hector Plus in its segment. It is the tallest and widest of the lot, while the MG Hector is the longest here. The Hector Plus has the biggest boot space while the Safari has the lowest volume. The Safari and Hector Plus both have more powerful diesel engines in terms of output. However, the torque output is the highest for the XUV500’s diesel engine. The Safari manages to hold its own in terms of features, design, handling, performance, and interior space.
Verdict (Value for Money)
The Tata Safari offers a spacious and comfortable last row of seats along with a rugged and durable vibe. It offers good performance, a refined engine, and a long list of features. The SUV’s design is also a head-turner on the road. However, the driving dynamics and heavy steering could be minor hindrances. If you talk about a muscular and attractive three-row SUV with good performance, then the Tata Safari certainly makes a strong case for itself.

About Tata Safari
Model launch date:
The updated Tata Safari was launched in India on 17 October, 2023.
Feature list:
In terms of exterior design and styling, Tata Motors has changed the look of the SUV in a significant manner. It gets a redesigned front bumper that now houses a pair of LED headlamps, new front grille that separates it from the Harrier, sequential turn indicators, and an elongated LED DRL. At the rear, it gets LED taillamps connected with an LED bar that stretches across the tailgate. Depending on the variant you choose, the Safari comes with alloy wheels ranging between 17-19 inches and these are very similar to the ones found on the Harrier EV concept.
Inside, the updated Safari gets a dual-tone cabin based on its exterior shade along with a new four-spoke illuminated steering wheel and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment screen. Apart from this, it also receives a new digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, and a touch-based climate control panel.

The facelifted Safari makes use of the 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine that produces 168bhp/350Nm. The transmission duties are handled by a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter automatic.

Engine and Performance
The 2023 avatar of the Tata Safari retains the same 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic unit. This motor meets BS6 Phase 2 emissions standards and produces 168bhp and 350Nm of peak torque. The automatic transmission still works very well, with the shifts that remain quick, smooth, and in sync with the engine’s characteristics and power delivery. There is enough torque for pulling from low speeds, and the transmission's responsiveness to both upshifts and downshifts makes the driving experience enjoyable. It also gets paddle shifters, and they respond well, making the driving experience more engaging.
The Eco, City, and Sport driving modes remain unchanged, offering responsive throttle inputs. The Safari has sufficient load-carrying and people-hauling capabilities in both urban and highway settings, and it can overtake effortlessly despite its size and weight. This Tata SUV remains planted and stable at triple-digit speeds, and its performance is not compromised despite being larger and heavier than the Harrier. The terrain mode selector, which efficiently alters the response through software maps, has been retained too. However, some off-road enthusiasts may argue that all-wheel drive (AWD) would have made the SUV more capable in hilly regions and slippery conditions. Nonetheless, our experience suggests that the Safari can tackle trails and rough terrain with poise for the most part.
Ride and Handling
The Safari's high ground clearance, tall stance, and well-tuned suspension allow it to effortlessly absorb bumps, potholes, and ruts on broken roads. Occupants are not unsettled, and there is minimal noise inside the cabin — whether driving at low or high speeds. Its robust build quality and Land Rover underpinnings are evident in its ride and handling.
Previous Safari owners complained about the heavy hydraulic steering, but the new electronic power steering has addressed this issue. It feels lighter at low speeds but adds weight as the speed increases, as is also noticeable in the Sport mode. The ADAS, meanwhile, is not intrusive and gently guides the car back into the marked lane if it starts to veer off. Then, all the disc brakes provide good stopping power and work well with the emergency automatic braking system. Overall, both systems functioned flawlessly, with the adaptive cruise control responding to commands instantly.
Exterior Design
Despite being a facelift, the new model has been significantly redesigned, giving it a concept-like appearance and a more upmarket feel than its predecessor. The new single grille is unique, with accents that match the exterior body colour on this version. The connected LED bar is a welcome addition, and the new squared-off headlamp housings on the re-sculpted bumper further distinguish it from the previous model.
Moreover, the new 19-inch wheels have an attractive design similar to the Sierra concept's wheels showcased at this year's Auto Expo. The rear section has been updated with tweaked taillights and a new LED bar that gets the welcome and goodbye animation in line with the front. There's also a faux skid plate on the redesigned bumper with vertically stacked reflectors and reverse light housing.
Interior and Features
The interior has also been updated, but the overall design remains largely unchanged. The most noticeable change is the new steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, which was first seen on the new Nexon. Tata has also addressed our previous criticism of this new steering’s horn placement, which was awkward and difficult to use. The horn has now been repositioned and is more responsive to inputs.
The new Safari also features touch controls for the AC. Other major updates to the dashboard include a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a fully digital instrument cluster. The latter gets readable fonts, fast response time, and high customisability, and is packed with information, including ADAS. The touchscreen is also highly responsive and has a clean UI, but it lacks haptic feedback and knobs for quick control.
The seating layout remains unchanged, with ample space in all rows. However, a major improvement that elevates its interior's premium feel is the high-quality materials used for the upholstery, dashboard, and most surfaces. Nothing feels cheap or out of place, and the cabin remains robust. The Safari has been known for its 'boss mode', and it continues to offer a laid-back seating position with power adjustments. The seats also get adjustable headrests for enhanced comfort. To further delight passengers, ventilated seats are now available in both rows, which will be a blessing in our hot and humid climate.
The carmaker has also taken the safety aspect up a notch. For example, all variants/personas now come standard with six airbags, while the top-spec version gets an additional driver's knee airbag. In addition, the Safari gets a 360-degree camera and a host of ADAS features, including new ones like adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, high beam assist, lane change alert, and lane departure warning. Other ADAS features include door open alert, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot detection, and rear cross-traffic alert. Additionally, other important safety features include rear collision warning, forward collision warning, and autonomous emergency braking, which worked effectively. The SUV also gets disc brakes on all four wheels.
The new Safari is also equipped with a new e-call feature for emergency assistance. With a touch of a button, the breakdown call can notify the roadside assistance service. Other impressive tech features that worked flawlessly include the new TFT cluster, terrain mode selector with TFT screen, audio controls compatible with Alexa, powered tailgate opening, and the connected car experience. Finally, whether you choose the six- or seven-seater version, every variant, from the entry-level Smart to the top-spec Accomplished+, offers a good variety of exterior colour options and material choices.
Tata Motors wants to broaden the appeal of the new Safari with a wider range of exterior colours, including a segment-first dual-tone option, and a plethora of new features. The Safari retains its macho appearance, making it a symbol of authority while offering a premium and spacious cabin. Prospective buyers also get new technology and added connectivity, all while cocooned in safety. Tata Motors also has kept the premium reasonable, making the new Safari an easy choice for buyers, given its many appealing features.

Questions and Answers
Which is better, toyota fortuner, jeep meridian or tata safari.
All the cars are good in their forte. The Fortuner is capable, more powerful, can look both rugged or city-slicker, and promises to be more comfortable on the inside. It's that big jump in price that is going to be a hard pill to swallow. On the other hand, Jeep Meridian isn't the most spacious vehicle, the cabin lacks the big SUV feel that you expect at this price point. But the interior quality is the best in the segment and the seating comfort in the front two rows is really good being a Jeep, its off-road ability is commendable for a monocoque SUV. In terms of features, the Meridian is well-spaced. Whereas, Tata Safari is a well-balanced 7-seater SUV with a great balance of design, comfort, performance, safety, and practicality. Moreover, we would suggest you take a test drive before making the final decision.
Which is the best colour in the 2021 Tata Safari?

Tata Safari Storme 2019 Verdict
The Safari has always been known for its presence and mighty demeanour and continues to do the same despite its design being decades old now. It is a spacious vehicle that will take a whole family of five with all their luggage without having to worry about broken roads or bad patches. But it feels too old now especially when compared to its modern competition.

Top 5 best-selling Tata vehicles in Feb 2024
Here are the five best-selling tata vehicles in february 2024. the best-selling tata nexon had to settle for second, beaten by its sibling..
Vehicle sales in February saw hatchbacks registering negative growth, while Hyundai’s Creta managed to outsell Tata’s best-seller, the Nexon. However, the Tata Nexon was not the best-selling model for the carmaker in February. Here are the top 5 best-selling Tata vehicles in February 2024, with their sales numbers and YoY growth.
Best-selling Tata vehicles in February 2024
Tata safari.
The fifth best-seller for Tata Motors in February 2024 was the Safari, the company’s current flagship that uses the same platform as the Harrier, while also sharing the engine and gearbox. The Tata Safari registered sales of 2,648 units, registering a YoY growth of 112 percent.
Tata Altroz
The Tata Altroz takes fourth place and the introduction of CNG variants has helped with sales. In February 2024, Tata sold 4,568 units of the Altroz, as compared to selling 3,955 units in February 2023, registering a YoY growth of 15 percent last month.
The Tata Tiago ups the Altroz’s game by one, as it has a petrol powertrain, a CNG one, and an all-electric version. The wide range of engine options has helped the carmaker cater to a wide customer base, registering sales of 6,947 units, however, hatchbacks saw a decline last month and the Tiago registered a negative YoY growth of 7 percent.
The Tata Nexon settles for second, with sales accounting for 14,395 units in February 2024. The Nexon has registered a YoY growth of 3 percent compared to February 2023, and the recent update of the ICE version and the EV variants has helped, but not enough to beat the Creta in terms of sales in February 2024.
The best-selling Tata vehicle in February 2023 was the carmaker’s entry-level SUV, the Punch. The recent update, including the launch of the all-electric version, has helped the carmaker sell 18,438 units last month, as compared to selling 11,169 units, registering a YoY growth of 65 percent.

VinFast likely to bring in electric SUVs to India after Centre's new EV policy
- In a strategic move, India has announced a significant shift in its approach to electric vehicles (EVs). The new policy includes reducing import duties on specific EVs from manufacturers committing to invest at least $500 million and kick-start domestic production within three years.
India's latest move signals a significant strategic change in its electric vehicle (EV) approach. The nation is set to decrease import duties on specific EVs from manufacturers pledging to invest at least $500 million and kick-start domestic production within three years. This development, part of a fresh e-vehicle policy, is designed to lure substantial investments from major global EV manufacturers.
This policy revision is expected to heighten competition for domestic automakers, especially with companies such as Tesla and VinFast eyeing India's position as the world's third-largest car market.

Vietnam's VinFast Auto, the Vietnamese EV maker, expressed enthusiasm for India's recent electric vehicle policy changes. The company stated that this development is expected to enable VinFast to introduce a diverse range of eco-friendly, high-quality SUVs at competitive prices.
VinFast India CEO Pham Sanh Chau praised the Indian government's new electric vehicle (EV) scheme, highlighting its goal of attracting significant investments in manufacturing, fostering skill development, establishing a robust supply chain, and offering consumers access to world-class, zero-emission vehicles. Chau emphasised that this policy allows VinFast to introduce a range of premium EV SUVs at inclusive prices, complemented by after-sales services.
VinFast has committed to investing $500 million in India, which includes establishing an electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. The company previously announced a plan to invest ₹ 4,000 crore over five years in the initial phase, creating 3,500 jobs in the Tuticorin region. Once operational, the plant will have the capacity to produce 1.50 lakh vehicles.
Earlier in February VinFast officially begun construction on its inaugural integrated EV manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, India which will spread across 400 acres within the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) industrial estate. VinFast also aims to stimulate local economic growth by promoting localization efforts.
Beyond manufacturing, VinFast intends to establish a nationwide dealership network to cultivate a strong brand presence and effectively engage with customers throughout the country. The company further filed a design trademark for its first vehicle. It is the VF3, a compact electric SUV that is a rival to the MG Comet EV. As of now, there is no confirmed launch date for the VF3.

The recently approved EV policy aims to promote India as a manufacturing destination for EVs and attract investment from renowned global EV manufacturers. Under this policy, companies establishing manufacturing facilities for EV passenger cars will be permitted to import a limited number of cars at lower customs/import duty of 15 per cent on vehicles costing $35,000 and above for five years from the approval date. This move is expected to attract major global players like US-based Tesla to invest in India's EV manufacturing sector.

Mahindra SUVs accounted for over 70 percent of the segment's 30,000 unit sales in February 2024
Mahindra SUVs were the top-selling midsize SUVs in India in February 2024. The segment’s popularity shrunk by nearly 3 percent in month-on-month (MoM) sales, however the Mahindra Scorpio and MG Hector still did not report any losses last month. Here’s how many midsize SUVs were sold in February 2024.
Key Takeaways
The Mahindra Scorpio continued to dominate the sales chart as the best-selling midsize SUV in February 2024. More than 15,000 units were sold last month, and it registered a monthly growth in demand of over 5 percent. Please note that these figures include the sales of both Mahindra Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic .
The next highest selling SUV here was the Mahindra XUV700 , even though it only shipped less than half the units of the top-selling Mahindra. It did witness a drop of over 9 percent in MoM sales.
Both Tata Safari and Tata Harrier attracted more than 2,500 customers each, together crossing the sales mark of 5,000 units in February 2024.
With more than 1,800 units sold, the MG Hector did not face any losses in monthly sales, indicating its consistent demand in the market. However, the Hector's year-on-year (YoY) market share still dipped by nearly 20 percent. Please note that these figures include the sales of both the Hector and Hector Plus .
The Hyundai Alcazar also crossed the sales mark of 1,000 units, but it took a hit of nearly 30 percent in MoM sales. Its February sales were almost 400 units less than its average sales of the last six months.

The Jeep Compass ’ February sales also declined by about 29 percent, and it only attracted 204 buyers last month. It was still the best-selling premium model here.
The Hyundai Tucson on the other hand took the eighth spot in the sales table with over 150 units sold in February 2024. Hyundai’s flagship ICE (internal combustion engine) SUV witnessed a loss of over 14 percent in MoM sales.
With just over 100 units sold in February 2024, the Volkswagen Tiguan took the ninth position in the sales chart.
Citroen did not manage to sell even a single unit of its flagship SUV in India, the C5 Aircross .

Government issues high severity warning for iPad, iPhone, Vision Pro and MacBook users. Here's what you should do next
CERT-In issued high severity warnings for iPhones, iPads, Safari browser, Vision Pro, MacBooks, and Apple Watches due to vulnerabilities that could be exploited by attackers. Users are advised to update their devices to the latest versions to protect against security risks.
Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), the cyber security watchdog under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has issued a high severity warning for iPhones and iPad users, highlighting certain vulnerabilities that could be exploited by a potential attacker. CERT-In has also issued a follow-up alert for other products, including the Safari browser, Vision Pro, MacBooks and Apple Watches.
Also Read | Apple reported to launch new iPad Air, iPad Pro models on March 26. Everything we know so far
In the first warning, issued on March 15, CERT-In said several vulnerabilities had been found in Apple's iOS and iPadOS that “allow an attacker to trigger denial of service condition, execute arbitrary code, sensitive information disclosure and bypass security restriction on the targeted system."
The cybersecurity agency said these vulnerabilities exist for a number of reasons, including improper validation in Bluetooth, MediaRemote, Photos, Safari and Webkit components. There are also privacy-related issues in ExtensionKit, Share Sheet, memory corruption, lock screen and timing side channel.
Which devices are affected?
According to the warning by CERT-In, the issue affected iOS and iPadOS devices running on versions prior to 16.7.6 like the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPad 5th generation, iPad Pro 9.7-inch, and iPad Pro 12.9-inch 1st generation. Moreover, the issue also affects iOS and iPadOS versions prior to 17.4 versions like the iPad Pro 10.5 and 11 inches, iPad Air 3rd gen and iPad Air 6th generation and later versions.
Also Read | Vijay Sales introduces 'Apple Days Sale' offers: Deals on iPhone 15 series, iPads, MacBooks
CERT-In states that users should update their iPhones and iPads to the latest version in order to protect themselves from these vulnerabilities. Moreover, older devices that aren't a part of the update cycle are advised to apply the appropriate security patches from Apple's website.
Vulnerabilities with Vision Pro, MacBooks and Apple TV:
In yet another advisory issued on March 19, CERT-In stated that multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Apple products that could be exploited by a potential attacker. Without going into the details of the vulnerabilities, the cybersecurity watchdog stated that these vulnerabilities could be used by attacker to “execute arbitrary code, bypass security restrictions, disclose sensitive information, gain elevated privileges or cause denial of service condition on the target system."
These vulnerabilities affect devices like the Apple Vision Pro, Apple TV HD, Apple TV 4K, Apple Watch Series 4 and later editions along with Apple macOS Soonoma 14 and later editions.
