Love love love this place, everyone should take their doggies there! The staff is awesome and friendly and so good with dogs! Emmile W.
It's where I trust to take my dog. Again and again, they have proven to be amazing. Hemlock loves it here! Ron B.
We love Bone Voyage! They take such good care of our dog and love her like she was their own! Lola gets excited before we turn onto the road where it is located when we take her there and she is fast asleep before we get back to 42 when we pick her up from playing so hard with her puppy friends! Trish J.
My rescue has extreme anxiety and when I picked her up at other boarding venues she would be anxious and nervous but ever since finding this place, when I pick her up she is happy, smiling, and wagging her tail. It's such a relief to know that both of my dogs are being well taken care of, looked after, and loved while Mom and Dad are gone. They love being here and are military friendly! The staff is extremely kind and sweet to us as owners and our fur babies. Would never take my babies anywhere else. Lauren P.
The staff at Bone Voyage is beyond awesome!! They take great care of Mack and Joey every time they board there!! Could not be more grateful!! Thank you! Renee B.
Literally the people there treat all the dogs as if they were their own! You can never get so much love and attention for your dogs than here! The owners are amazing and they make sure you feel welcome! Brittney L.
We can't say enough good things about this facility--the dogs are loved and cared for just beautifully. I don't know what we would do without this HEAVEN FOR DOGS!!!! Sherry W.
We love this place and so does my fur baby. He never whines when we leave him and he is so excited to go all his fur friends. We definitely are pleased with service and we love the friendly staff. April L.
Best place we have experienced for boarding and daycare. David G.

Common Questions

What are the kennel sizes and options?

We have several kennel size options so to make things simple I have included the following table. Kennel size varies by width; all kennels are approximately 7 feet deep. Those kennels located on exterior walls have outside runs attached to the inside portion that is accessible via a doggie door (guillotine door), and are indicated by the +run notation. Need More Information...see our new Kennel Size Guide

**- Senior pets, Reactive dogs, Aggressive dogs, 2 or more dogs

Can I bring my own food and toys?

While we only provide premium food to pets staying at the resort, you are always welcome to bring your own food. If you do, please bring it in a resealable container, along with a measuring cup. While we are unable to prepare specialty foods (e.g. raw) on site, should you individually wrap such meals we can certainly feed them. Additional fees may apply for additional services. Please contact us if you have specific questions about feeding issues.

Toys are great, in fact a special toy can make your pet's stay less stressful and more enjoyable. Please mark all toys with your pet's name. We will try to return all toys and bedding that you bring, but occasionally things do happen to these items and they have to be discarded during the stay. Do not bring any toys or items that are valuable.

Is there anyone at the facility during the evening?

One of the things we thought important for pet owners when traveling is knowing that someone is nearby your pet at all times. Therefore we have a late-evening caretaker, and video monitoring, which allows us to check on your pets throughout the night when we cannot be on site.

If I stay at a hotel on the Island, can I check my dog out for some playtime on the beach?

Absolutely!!

What happens if there is a hurricane in the gulf?

During hurricane season we have contingencies in place to safely guard your pet during their stay. During the storm season it's mandatory that you provide us with a regional contact that will take your pet should a storm threaten us from the gulf. In the event of a mandatory evacuation of the island, All pets not placed with other facilities or alternate custodians, will evacuate with the BVPR staff. There are a additional fees if your animal is boarded during a storm related event. Animals remaining at the facility in the event of a Shelter-in-Place situation will incur a daily hazard fee. In the event of an evacuation, a daily Animal Evacuation Fee will apply that is in addition to the daily regular fee.

What is your Cancellation Policy?

For Daycare:

Day Care Cancellation Policy

Due to the high demand for our daycare services, and an increasing number of no-shows and last-minute cancellations, we have made the decision to implement the following reservation and cancellation policy.

When our facility is booked to it's limit, we often have to disappoint our clients by adding your pup to our Wait List or by turning away business. Seldom are we able to fill a space when a daycare reservation is a no-call, no-show. These minimum cancellation periods allow us time to offer your booked space to another client.

There is a  24 Hour Cancellation Notification Policy  (By 9:00am preceding day to avoid all cancellation fees).

No Cancellation Fee | Call by 9:00 am preceding day

After 9:00am Preceding Day | $15 Fee

No-call, No-show | Automatic $15 Fee.

We appreciate your understanding regarding the necessity of this policy.

For Boarding:

Bookings must be canceled at least one week (over 7 days) prior to the check-in date to avoid cancellation fees.

Late Cancellation Fees if you cancel... More than 7 - days prior = No cancellation Fee. Less than 7 days (but more than 3 days prior) = 33% of the original booking estimate fee.  Less than 3 days prior = 50% of the original booking estimate fee.

It was awesome . My dog love it. We were so happy and the staff were very friendly. We will be back for sure.

I am going to make the same comment that another reviewer made. The place is great but the seven day cancellation fee is ridiculous. Most boarding facilities have 48 to 24 hour cancellation, and most do not charge a fee for it. Playful paws pet resort in Kemah is absolutely unbelievable and they do not charge a fee if you have to cancel.

Absolutely the best kennel I ever used. Originally I was planning to use petsmart near Texas City during the trip to Galveston. When I asked the petsmart if I can take my dog to a beach one day and bring him back, they told me that I need to check him out/pay and rechecked him in. That's understandable but that's when I found BoneVoyage. When I called them and asked the same question, their answer was "absolutely! Just let us know when you want to take him to the beach and bring back here before we close!" I booked with them on the same day. They're nice and friendly over the phone and in person! My dog enjoyed the stay and day at the beach as well :)

Photo of Bsn N.

If I could give them no stars, I would. The staff doesn't care about the individual dogs nor do they listen to the owners wishes and directions. When I first reached out to this kennel, I was very clear that I had 2 rescue dogs that were afraid of people. We had boarded them several times previously with a kennel in another state so leaving the dogs (only when absolutely necessary) has gone very well with no issues. I called ahead to make sure Bone Voyage understood that my dog's initial reaction is to be very afraid of strangers. This goes away quickly once the person comes down to their level for a minute to say hi. They assured me their staff was great about working with dogs and my dogs would be well cared for. When I filled out the application, I was clear they were afraid. I also talked to them when I dropped the dogs off. I made sure they knew also that we were working with a trainer from the dog training services that shares space with the kennel and appears to be affiliated. I did not hear one word from the kennel in the 3 days our dogs were there. When I picked them up, there were big letters on the kennel - Aggressive to people. I almost cried. I knew then that they did not listen to anything I had said or just didn't take me seriously. They went on to say my dogs were not boardable. They had to chase them around to get the dogs out of their small private kennel yard back into the inside space which means the were frustrated and my dogs were terrified. They had to call someone in so 2 of them were chasing my poor dogs. If they had just did what I told them and stooped down, the dogs would have come to them. Or if they had reached out to the trainer that was working with them, she knew how to work with the dogs. But instead, they chose to terrorize these 2 dogs who had been mistreated before a rescue took them in. I really question how much my dogs were let out of their kennel or if they were even fed as they were supposed to (we got a LOT of food back). And it cost me almost $100 / day for this! It has been a long road in socializing these dogs with people (they are good with other dogs). I have no doubt that Bone Voyage has workers who can do the job, but they do not have staff that listen to the owners or care about the dog unless the dog is perfect and does exactly what they want them to do. As far as I am concerned, Bone Voyage took our dogs backwards. This boarding experience should have been a positive experience as it has been as other boarding facilities but instead, I felt these dogs were scared the whole time they were there. Biggest disappointment is they didn't reach out to me or the trainer. A phone call would have gone a long way and I would have got back early to get them. They also told me the dogs were too wild to work with the trainer, but I paid that trainer to be there. The trainer told me that she did work with them. I have no idea who is telling the truth, but I will never go to either of them again. Consider using Dogs at Dolphin View. They have staff that not only listen, but truly care about each dog that comes into their facility. They listen to the wishes of the owner and call if there are any issues or questions! Plus I got pictures of the dogs playing in the yard each day. I could clearly see they were happy dogs!

We have been taking our Cooper here since they opened and he loves it. When we tell him its time to go to Daycare he gets so excited. We have kept him here on extended vacations as well and he has done perfectly. When we tell him he is going to Daycare he runs to get his leash and is so excited to go play with all of his friends. We feel very secure that the staff love our Cooper as well and take very good care of him. I love that they post pics on Facebook while we are out of town, it is very assuring to see him while we are gone having fun.

bone voyage galveston

They've always taken good care of our dog. So that is not the issue. We had to cancel a reservation three days in advance due to an illness. They charged us a $40 cancellation fee!! I could understand a 24 or even a 48 hour cancellation deadline. I think that a 7-day deadline is a bit long and $40 is a bit steep. I'm sure it was in the initial agreement we signed. But it's still something we will consider next time we make a reservation.

Cannot recommend Bone Voyage more highly! Our dogs generally hate being boarded, even at the nicer daycare type places like Bone Voyage. That's not the facility's fault of course, that's just our dogs. We have two sweet 4-yr old dogs, one boxer mix (looks like a pit) and another American bulldog mix. Thankfully, Bon Voyage loves ALL dogs. :) We were headed on a cruise and I found Bon Voyage on Yelp. The location is perfect if you're taking a cruise. We arrived a day early and they were kind enough to take the dogs a day early on an hour's notice (!). The facility was bright and clean and the staff was super friendly. They temperament test every dog and assign play groups based on the dogs temperament. Not surprisingly, our dogs didn't do well on the temp test so they were relegated to one on one play. Our dogs can get really stressed in these situations and while having group play is a great option for some dogs, it's also great that the more fearful pups can get some fun time in too one on one. We aren't sure what happened while they were there but I did notice this: 1) When we picked them up, they were markedly less stressed than they normally are when we pick them up. Calm, almost! 2) Staff seemed genuinely concerned about our dogs. When they brought the dogs out, our dogs looked happy and comfortable with them. 3) Our dogs received the BEST baths they've ever had. I've honestly never seen either of them so clean! Ever. 4) Our dogs received the BEST nail trims of their lives. Never had the nail grind before but it's amazing. They look more comfortable with their nails so well trimmed. 5) Usually when the dogs come back from being boarded, they take a few days to adjust and are anxious. Did not happen this time. I don't know what went on while they were there, I just know they received some of the best dog-centered care available. I wish Bone Voyage were where we live so we could board here every time. Many thanks to the excellent crew here!

Best Dog Boarding Ever!!! I dropped my dog, Maui Lu, off at BoneVoyage for the first time ever this December. I was pleased to find that the facilities were extremely clean and did not smell like a kennel at all. I toured the back and saw that very few dogs were barking and most were just chilling in their beds. This told me that these animals were exercised regularly and very happy to be there. When I picked up my dog, it was clear that she had become very accustomed to playing with the staff and was in great spirits. I highly recommend this kennel to anyone.

My fiancé and I had to work a double (9am-11pm) and didn't want to leave our new pup Kona, at home alone all day long. With some quick research we found BoneVoyage, and really glad we did! Kona loved her night stay. I was sad to leave her, but the staff there were super amazing and kept me updated with how she was doing when I called on my break. They even took pictures of Kona on her playtime! Absolutely awesome staff, very clean place, overall super happy!! We will definitely be back. Thank you!!

Nothing but good things to say. We boarded our 2 mini poodle mixes when we left for a cruise. We're from Fort Worth so we booked based on Yelp reviews and the good initial feeling from the kind receptionist who answered the phone. They made it very easy on their website to get registered and we faxed shot records and good to go. Clean, airy, my dogs even had a small window room....i teared up leaving them behind and knowing we'd be unreachable....but the staff seemed caring and we checked them in for 5 nights. We checked in the first a.m. and dogs had already eaten and been out to play, so I got on the cruise ship without fear. Pickup was a breeze, the dogs were energetic and seemed fine...no complaints, and since my dogs seem healthy, got their special treats I packed...i can't complain and definitely recommend and would use again.

They were great! I boarded my spoiled dog for the FIRST time with them for a week and when we picked him up, he seemed perfectly happy and healthy. All of my interactions with them were positive and they provided updates via email while I was out of town. Highly recommend

Great place, clean and trustworthy environment for sure????

Our Annie girl absolutely lives this place and the staff there are courteous and professional.

It was clean and the price was well explained. The staff are helpful. I cannot rate 5 stars because I was not there but my dog seemed fine when I got back

Trelle with Mutts with Manners was wonderful!

Patricia Diaz

This was our first time taking our little girl there for the weekend, she seemed to have a good time. Everyone there was super nice especially Jared, I'm pretty sure that was his name. He explained everything very well ...super friendly, he treated Roxy and talk to her like he's known her forever. Which made myself and my husband feel good about that. If you have to go away for awhile or just a couple of days or even the afternoon I would highly recommend this place in Galveston Texas. Definitely will use again!

Will not be boarding here again. I boarded my 8 month old dog for 5 days, and two days into her boarding i called to see how she was doing. I was told shes eating, drinking, using the bathroom...a very short response. When i said "...ok but is she doing ok?" The reply was "yep". Very short. When my husband came to pick up, he noticed that she had lost weight, had some scabbed over scrapes on her feet, and when our puppy got home, had pretty bad diarrhea (explaining the weight loss). I called to speak with the manager to make them aware of what happened regarding the diarrhea, she said there were no notes made in her file (so not keeping track?) it must have started after i called. I told her that i still should have been told that she had it, and that she wasnt doing very well. Would be incredibly nervous to board her here again, because i would like to really know how shes doing while im away.

Amanda Burns

The only place I will board my pups! AND I don't live in Galveston

Daycare is a great way to keep your pet happy and healthy while you are away for limited times during the week.

During each daycare session, pets are allowed to play in a supervised group setting with other compatible dogs. These groups are determined typically by size of animal and temperament, but can also vary by individual dog Likes-and-Don't-Likes. Typically several hours of playtime are allowed per group each day, as dogs often tire of group activities (just like humans do). The remaining time is spent lounging around the bone pool.

Best of Moscow by high speed train

Cool Cruiser

Sure would appreciate someone who has taken "Best of Moscow by high speed train" from St. Petersburg could please share their impressions of this shore excursion. From the description this sounds like a very long day.

Wondering how the 4 hour train trip was in terms of accommodations, etc. Also what time did you leave the ship and what time at night did you return? Were both legs of the trip on the high speed rail (I read that slower trains also travel the same tracks)?

My wife and I are considering this excursion. We thought that if we are making all the effort to go to Russia then how could we pass up going to Moscow, walking in Red Square, seeing St. Basil, etc.

If you are considering this on the 2015 June Baltic cruise on Voyager; my suggestion is don't. There is so much to do in St. Petersburg and although a train is one of my favorite ways to travel the time would be far better spent in St. P.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, this would be on the Voyager during the 2015 season but not yet sure exactly which cruise.

We did the Moscow excursion "on a different luxury line", but from your brief description it sounds very much like the same trip, so I will operate on that assumption. It is a VERY long day! We left the ship at 5:30 AM and returned at 12:30 AM. The highspeed train trip is comfortable, and while they call it "Business Class" it does not compare well to the equivalent class on say Rail Europe. When we did it in 2011, we did have highspeed both ways, and the trip back seemed much longer as the adrenaline and excitement had worn off!:D

Moscow itself is not that terribly different from any other big city in the world, but this Cold War kid never thought he would ever stand in Red Square, never mind walk the grounds of The Kremlin, or tour The Kremlin Palace, or see (but not visit) Lenin's Tomb, or visit The Armoury. But he did, and he loved every minute of it! Yes, it is a long day, and you barely scratch a scratch on the surface, but it is worth it. There is a tremendous amount to see in St. Petersburg, but every Baltic cruise goes to St. Petersburg, so you can go back if you choose to. Not every cruiseline offers you the chance to see Moscow.

RachelG

I have not personally done this tour, but our last time in St Petersburg, the private guide that we hired for a day was leading the regent tour to Moscow on the high speed train the next day. He said it was way better than the previous alternative, which was flying to Moscow and back. He said that you actually got to Moscow faster because you didn't have to deal with airline checkin etc. it did seem like a very long day to me, and there is so much to see and do in st. Petersburg that I didn't consider doing it.

We toured to Moscow from St. Petersburg via the hi-speed SAPSAN train last September, from a Baltic cruise on the Oceania Marina. You need to have a two-night, three day port call in St. Petersburg to take this tour because the tour typically leaves the ship around 5:00 - 5:30 AM and doesn't return until after midnight the next day. We didn't take the ship's tour; we made private arrangements with TravelAllRussia for three days of touring, the first and third days in St. Petersburg and the second day the tour to Moscow by train. Our cost for the private tour for three days was about the same as what the ship charged for the excursion to Moscow alone. There are a number of private tour agencies that operate in St. Petersburg and offer the Moscow train tours; we would strongly recommend them over the ship's tours.

All three days had private guides with car and driver. The second day, the driver picked us up at the ship and took us to the train, but we were alone on the train, and met in Moscow by the guide on the station platform. After our tour and dinner, we were brought back to the train and after the return train trip met by the driver and taken back to the ship. Because you are alone on the train you must have your own Russian visas.

If this is your first visit to St. Petersburg, I would agree there is much more to see there. We found Moscow somewhat a disappointment, particularly Red Square. The Kremlin and the cathedral in Red Square were also worth seeing. But the best thing we saw was the Moscow subway! I worked for the Washington Metro system back in the 1980s as it grew from 40 to 80 miles and although I was in the computer area, I learned a lot about the challenges of running a subway system. We used the Moscow system to get across the city from where we had dinner to the train station, and I was amazed at the cleanliness', speed of operation, the short headways maintained, and the courtesy of everyone involved. A very impressive experience!

We had been to St. Petersburg before, and so had the time to take a day and go to Moscow. Also, I really like trains, and the SAPSAN is a German train set running on Russian rails. Seats are like first class domestic air, spacious but not too plush or comfortable, but with enough room. Not too much recline, and almost 8 hours on the train in two shots is a lot for an old man. They come through and sell drinks, candy, etc. but the sellers don't speak English and no one around us helped, so we had just poor coffee once coming, and brought stuff with us for the trip back. Not too much to see from the train either, particularly on the return when it is night the whole way.

If you decide to go, take a private tour and avoid the overly expensive ship's tour. I'm glad we did it, but wouldn't bother to repeat the tour; we've seen Moscow.

Thanks so much to all of you for the thorough and thought insight. Yhe information you have provided is most helpful.

countflorida: Your detailed post is very helpful. We are not quite ready for a Baltic cruise but should do so within a year. Time enough to do our pre travel research, bookings and visa gathering.:) Thank you!

We thought that if we are making all the effort to go to Russia then how could we pass up going to Moscow, walking in Red Square, seeing St. Basil, etc.

I did this on Seabourn. IMO DONT. Take Aeroflop (er Aeroflot). The train has non folding seats where you are literally knee to knee with your fellow passenger (facing each other). Further they don't believe in air conditioning. It's also the worlds slowed bullet train. I think I would have found more enjoyment wandering around the St. Petersburg and Moscow airports.

Countflorida,

This is a little off topic,, however we had planned a river cruise in Russia but decided we would rather stay on land and have booked about two weeks with Travel-All-Russia using the private guide and driver. I'm curious as to how you found them as a tour company.

The guides they provided were fine. We had a different guide each of the days in St. Petersburg, but both were flexible, pleasant, knowledgeable and spoke English very well, as did the guide in Moscow, incidentally. She was a bit aloof, distant, not too friendly, but otherwise fine. In fact, she was the one who suggested taking the Metro, which unexpectedly became one of the highlights of the Moscow excursion. If I have a complaint with AllTravelRussia, it is with their plan and its execution (more later).

I had requested emphasis on World War II (in Russia, the Great Patriotic War) sites and info. In scheduling us, they weren't careful about dates and a couple of the sites we wanted to see were scheduled on the third day, after we'd been to Moscow. But both sites were closed that day of the week, and that info was readily available, right on web sites describing them. Also, the included meals (lunches in St. Pete, dinner in Moscow) were not what we asked for: light meals with some choices, so we could avoid things we didn't like and choose things we did like. My request was ignored; we were given full Russian meals with a fixed menu, no choice. On the first day, a fish dish was the entre, but I am allergic to fish. Fortunately, I had the e-mail I'd sent with me and showed it to the guide, and she was able to change my entre to chicken, which was very good actually. But we didn't want a 3-4 course lunches or dinner (in Moscow). We had the guide drop the lunch the third day, although we never got any credit or refund. But, particularly in contrast to the ship's tours, the prices were so reasonable we didn't worry too much about it.

The people who were on the ship's tour to Moscow saw us boarding the same train for which they were forced to queue up and wait on the way back, and asked us what we had done. I was candid and open so they were not happy when I explained what we had arranged and particularly what it had cost. Also, when we returned to the ship, we found they had laid on a late supper for those who had gone to Moscow, so up we went and had something. Well, it turns out the late supper was supposed to be just for those on the ship's tour, but we and others on 'independent' tours, there were a dozen or more of us, crashed the party, actually got there first, and they didn't realize it until the larger group arrived and there weren't enough tables/places set. By that time, the 'independents' had all gotten served and were eating; what could they do?

A couple from the larger group sat down with us and asked us about our tour, and they were the ones I told about our arrangement and its cost. They turned to others who’d been with them and announced the details, loudly enough so the whole room heard, which started a lot of bitching and complaining. I gathered they weren't very happy with the ship's tour to begin with, and this was the straw that broke the camel's back. We finished up and beat it out of there, but overheard later that one of the excursion staff came to check on something and ran into a real mess. I caught a cold on the trip, which forced me to bed the second day following in Tallinn, so by the time we reappeared we heard about the contretemps' but apparently no one recalled who started it, thankfully.

Because of what happened to us, I would probably not use AllTravelRussia if I were to go again, or if I did, I would be sure to get confirmation of every detail of the tour. They do have good reviews generally, and we were certainly helped by their visa department and liked the guides and drivers. Their weakness, I say now with full 20:20 hindsight, is that once the sales person who plans the tour, sells it to you and collects your money, he (or she) transfers the plan to their Russia office for implementation; there is no follow-up to make sure it gets done right. And that is where our problems arose; we paid for a custom tour but got a standard package with a few destinations switched, and no one checked them out, even to see when they were open the day we were scheduled to go. If you check every detail that’s important to you, it should be OK, but that’s a hell of a way to have to do business, in my opinion.

Thank you for the 20/20 hindsight observation on your Russian tour operator, and better priced than the ship's excursion cost.

Thanks very much for the feedback.

We had the same experience as you so far as price. We originally booked a Viking Cruise but, hearing some things about the river cruises that made us unhappy, looked into other options. T-A-R cost the same or less than a cruise and had us in hotels for 11 days. We opted for the private tour. They have three tour levels, based on hotels. We originally opted for the four star as it did not cost much more than the three star hotels. Finally we decided to throw it all in and upgraded to five star. In Moscow we will be at the newly opened Kempinsky which is two blocks from Red Square. In St. Petersburg it is the Grand Hotel Europe, one of the most vaunted luxury hotels in Russia. Location is important for us as the tours use up only part of the day so being in the center of everything for our independent touring is important. As with many other cities, the less you pay, the farther out of the center of town you are.

We have been working with our salesman in D.C. and he seems to get back to us with the changes we want. He recently returned from Russia so is up on everything. When I asked they said they paid the full TA commission if I wanted so I got my usual TA on board so he is watching our back and giving us that extra level of comfort. He also set up our air, which I know pays him little or nothing, and got us business class for much less than T-A-R wanted for economy, though it took working for a while with a consolidator. He's happy to get his 10 percent on this trip without having booked it. He also took care of the trip insurance. We've been doing a lot of research on the CC sister site Trip Advisor and will write a report there. We will, I guess, become a source of info for CC members after having spent 5 days in Moscow and 6 in SP.

Bars & Nightlife

The nightlife scene in Moscow is varied, and long gone are the days when the only kind of venues in operation were luxury establishments guarded by stern-looking bouncers. Although some places still enforce FC/DC, many are now leaning towards a more casual approach to entry - the recent decade has seen a rise in the number of casual bars modelled after hip urban haunts of West European capitals. Wine bars, craft breweries, bohemian cafes, indie bars, and glitzy nightclubs are all to be found in abundance, spread throughout the city's many neighbourhoods. And here are the best bars and nightclubs in Moscow, Russia:

In order to satisfy the wishes of Moscow's well-off upper middle classes, many chic designer stores have opened their stores in Moscow. Today there is definitely a risk that tourists will return home with considerably more expensive souvenirs than fur hats and Russian "matryoshka" dolls, which are readily available throughout - a good place to start browsing for these is the souvenir market right next to the Red Square.

Tourist Information

Vnukovo International Airport

The city's third and most compact airport, Vnukovo is located approximately 28 kilometres southwest of the city centre. The air hub is best reached by Aeroexpress trains departing from the Kievskaya Railway Station. Several mini-buses also run here from Yugo-Zapadnaya metro station (south end of the red line).

More Information:

Sheremetyevo International Airport

The largest international airport in Moscow is Sheremetyevo International Airport, located 30 kilometres from the city centre. The easiest and fastest way to reach any of Moscow's three major airports is by Aeroexpress - a fast train designated for air travelers (train departs from Belorussky Railway Station). The train ride takes 35 minutes. Another way to get here is by taxi. At the airport you can order taxis at the operator desk. You can usually book a taxi in advance through the hotel or travel agency when going to the airport. Alternatively, there are different bus routes. The buses take about 30-70 minutes depending on the route and your final destination. When traveling by car or bus, do keep in mind that rush hour traffic may sometimes be very dense, and significant delays are possible.

Domodedovo International Airport

Another large airport in Moscow is Moscow Domodedovo Airport. The airport is located 22 kilometres away from the city. You can also reach the airport from Domodedovskaya underground station by mini-bus or bus and from Paveletsky railway station by train. The train from Paveletsky railway station takes 40-50 minutes going on the Aeroexpress train, and 1 hour and 10 minutes on the commuter train. The express buses and shuttles from Domodedovskaya underground station take 25-30 minutes and leave every 15 minutes. Buses run from 6am-12am. Taxis can be ordered at the domestic and international arrivals hall. There are car rental services at the airport.

Moscow has one of the world’s most beautiful underground railways which operates very efficiently. If you carry big luggage on the metro, make sure you buy a special luggage ticket. Tickets can be bought at station entrances - either at vending machines or special staffed kiosks. If you plan to use the metro multiple times during your stay, it makes sense to purchase a top-up card called "Troika".

In Moscow the easiest way to get a taxi is the traditional way: to stand in the street and hold out your arm. Civilian cars like to operate as taxis, it is therefore recommended to only use professional taxi services. Taxi meters are not always used, so agree on a price before travelling.
