Make a travel insurance claim

About hsbc travel insurance claims.

HSBC Travel Insurance is provided by Aviva Insurance Limited. Aviva manages the claims process from start to finish so that your claims are handled as quickly and efficiently as possible.

When to make an HSBC Travel Insurance claim

If your trip has been cancelled, your first step should be to contact your travel and/or accommodation provider for a refund.

If you paid any part with your debit or credit card or PayPal, you may also contact the payment provider for a refund. If you paid with an HSBC debit or credit card, here’s how you can  raise a dispute .

Claiming a refund from either your travel operator or your card provider may lead to a better outcome for yourself than claiming via your travel insurance, as you may be able to claim the full amount you paid without having to pay an excess. You could also potentially recover losses for all the party members on the booking, some of whom may not have taken insurance. You can find further useful information on this topic on the  MoneyHelper  website. If you’ve been unable to get a refund from your travel and/or accommodation provider or your payment provider, please contact Aviva to make a claim.

  • details of any self-isolation advice you’ve been given by either your GP or from NHS 111

For all claims, normal policy excess, terms and conditions, exclusions and claims assessment apply.

How long will it take to process my claim?

As soon as you’ve notified Aviva of your claim, they will send you a claims pack detailing the information they need from you. To ensure your claim is handled as swiftly as possible, please follow the instructions in this pack.

After receiving your details, Aviva will assess your claim and make a payment to you within 28 days if your claim’s been successful.

Investment Daily: US stocks fell amid higher Treasury yields and geopolitical concerns

hsbc premier travel insurance claim online

16 Apr 2024

Key takeaways

  • US stocks fell amid higher Treasury yields and geopolitical concerns.
  • European stocks were mixed as government bonds fell.
  • Asian equities fell amid US rate and geopolitical concerns.

US equities declined on Monday amid higher Treasury yields and concerns over geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, as the earnings season continues. S&P 500 lost 1.2%, as the tech-heavy Nasdaq saw a sharper 1.8% drop.

US Treasuries fell (yields rose) and the yield curve steepened as investors weighed upbeat retail sales data while accessing geopolitical risks and remarks from Fed officials for the US rate outlook. 10-year yields rose 8bp to 4.60%.

European stocks were mixed on Monday as investors digested the uncertain geopolitical backdrop and US earnings results. The Euro Stoxx 50 index increased 0.6%, with the German DAX and French CAC up 0.5% and 0.4%, respectively. In the UK, the FTSE-100 was down 0.4%.

European government bonds lost ground on Monday (yields increased) due to receding safe-haven flows and an upward surprise in US retail sales. 10-year German yields rose 8bp to 2.44%, as 10-year French yields rose 10bp to 2.96% amid rising fiscal concerns. In the UK, 10-year gilt yields rose 10bp to 4.24% ahead of key labour market and inflation data.

Asia stock markets declined on Monday due to rising geopolitical worries and ongoing concerns about the US rate outlook. Japan’s Nikkei 225 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng both fell 0.7%, with other regional markets seeing steep losses. India’s Sensex was down 1.1%. Onshore Chinese equities bucked the regional trend, with the Shanghai Composite rising 1.3%. Last Friday the Chinese government issued guidelines to strengthen capital market supervision and risk prevention, aimed at enhancing investor protection, shareholder returns and reviving market confidence.

Crude oil prices ended a choppy session slightly lower on Monday as investors monitored geopolitical developments in the Middle East. WTI crude for May delivery settled 0.3% lower at USD85.4 a barrel.

Key Data Releases and Events

US retail sales posted a 0.7% mom increase in March, above market expectations. Data for January-February was revised higher, pointing to solid growth in Q1 2024.

Releases due today (16 April 2024)

hsbc premier travel insurance claim online

In China , Q1 GDP is expected to rise 1.5% qoq after a 1.0% qoq increase in Q4 2023. Retail sales should remain firm in March after rising 5.5% yoy in January-February, and industrial production is forecast to stay solid in March following a 7.0% yoy gain in January-February.

In the UK, the ILO unemployment rate should nudge higher to 4.0% in the three months to February, from 3.9% in the three months to January, with underlying average earnings moderating.

US housing starts should fall in February after January’s 10.7% mom weather-related surge.

Such characteristics can lead to considerable losses being incurred by those exposed to such markets. If an investment is withdrawn or terminated early, it may not return the full amount invested. In addition to the normal risks associated with investing, international investments may involve risk of capital loss from unfavourable fluctuations in currency values, from differences in generally accepted accounting principles or from economic or political instability in certain jurisdictions. Narrowly focused investments and smaller companies typically exhibit higher volatility. There is no guarantee of positive trading performance. Investments in emerging markets are by their nature higher risk and potentially more volatile than those inherent in some established markets. Economies in emerging markets generally are heavily dependent upon international trade and, accordingly, have been and may continue to be affected adversely by trade barriers, exchange controls, managed adjustments in relative currency values and other protectionist measures imposed or negotiated by the countries with which they trade. These economies also have been and may continue to be affected adversely by economic conditions in the countries in which they trade. Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks. You should read all scheme related documents carefully.
