Not Everyone Hates the Pirate Night Menu on Disney Cruise Line

disney cruise pirate night menu

I’m not sure that I’d call myself a super-seasoned Disney cruiser, but I’ve sailed with Disney Cruise Line 9 times, and it’s become my favorite way to vacation. One of the things I discovered as I researched all the need-to-know topics for my first cruise back in 2016 was that there were a lot of people who didn’t care for the Pirate Night menu in the rotational dining restaurants. In fact, most of the advice I saw recommended making reservations for one of the fine dining locations on Pirate Night, skipping the menu altogether.

With most things, especially when it comes to food, I typically do my own thing and pay no attention to reviews as it’s such a subjective topic. If it’s too spicy, doesn’t have enough salt, or has too much of a certain ingredient, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the food is bad. I like to try things myself before judging them, as we all have different tastes.

disney cruise pirate night menu

When I saw the Pirate Night menu, I felt like it was pretty safe to say that nothing on it stood out to me as a must-try, so we skipped it on our first cruise and ordered room service . On cruises after that first one, we would try for a Palo dinner reservation, and if we couldn’t get one, we’d either eat at one of the quick-service locations by the pool or order room service. To this day, I have not eaten in any of the main dining rooms on Pirate Night, and I’ve been on 4 of DCL’s ships ! I *think* that might change during my next cruise, but the jury is still out.

disney cruise pirate night menu

I recently came across a thread in the Disney Cruise Line forum on DISboards.com where a poster flat-out asked what’s so bad about the Pirate Night food. I was honestly really surprised by how many others weighed in on what they love about it instead of what’s so bad about it, and I thought I’d share some of the responses here with all of you in case you’re on the fence about giving it a try.

Everyone has different tastes. For us it’s our favorite menu of the cruise – crab cake, shanghaied noodles and falafel are awesome. You will always find something you will enjoy on the menu. @xiphoid76 on DISboards
I usually get the beef option most nights (I’m a plain eater and I don’t do seafood). I enjoy the Strip Loin on Pirate Night very much. I prefer that over the beef offering on the rotational menu in Royal Palace/Court, and some of the other options on the 7 night cruises too. The corn bread (Johnny Cakes) is delicious too. I’m not a big fan of the nightly bread offerings but this is one I make a point to eat. @CamColt on DISboards
I don’t get it either, I quite enjoy the Pirate menu, but don’t care for the entrees. I get: Mango Soup, Baby Gem Salad and Samosa as apps. I then get two crabcakes as my entree and I love the sundae with the pineapple coconut ice cream. Once I learned to get the crabcakes as my entree….game changer! @Erica1016 on DISboards
Add me to the ‘I like the Pirate Night menu’ camp. It’s not my favorite menu, but I definitely look forward to it (and have had it a few times). For some, I guess it might be the cuisine-that menu has a Caribbean flair which some may not be as familiar with (or not like). Of course, everyone has their personal preferences; that’s just a guess on my part. @RedHead0186 on DISboards
I’ve only sailed once, on the Wish, and pirate night was my second favorite menu! The cornbread was delicious as were the crab cakes. The chicken was juicy and tender. I really enjoyed it. Actually, I liked it more than Arendelle, but not as much as 1923. @Aaryana on DISboards

Disney Magic Cruise Pirate Night — Everything You Need to Know

By Wendy Leave a Comment

If you’re going on a Disney Cruise , there’s something you should be warned about…

disney cruise pirate night menu

Captain Hook and Mr. Smee on the Disney Magic

Or maybe I should put it this way: BE YE WARNED , me hearties, because your ship — specifically, the Disney Magic — may be taken over by PIRATES, and they’ll want YOU to join their crew! So we’re here to walk you through EVERYTHING you need to know about Pirate Night on the Disney Magic so YOU don’t walk the plank!

Pirates IN the Caribbean Deck Party

On Disney Cruise Line, Pirate Night can vary from ship to ship. For instance, on the new Disney Wish , passengers experience the Pirates Rockin’ Parlay Party .  Here on the Disney Magic… well, you’ve heard of Pirates of the Caribbean, right? The highlight of Pirate Night on Disney’s first ship to ever set sail is the Pirates IN the Caribbean Deck Party !

disney cruise pirate night menu

Pirate Night

You’ll gather with your fellow pirates on the pool deck for a nighttime party like no other. Disney pals and crew will entertain you with a show and teach YOU how to party like a pirate! But beware…

disney cruise pirate night menu

They may be joined onstage by some uninvited scoundrels and scallywags! From this point… well, I don’t want to spoil things. Let’s just say that someone very special just may show up to save the night.

disney cruise pirate night menu

Pirate Mickey

The entire thing is capped off by something Disney Cruise Line is known for: FIREWORKS AT SEA !

disney cruise pirate night menu

Now we pirates don’t like rules, do we??? HECK, NO! Still, we must remind that fireworks are weather-permitting.

Also, be aware that Pirate Night is part of select sailings, so check your itinerary on the Disney Cruise Line website, or with help from your Travel Agent .

Disney Characters and Costumes

The fun starts even before the sun sets on Pirate Night! As the ship prepares for the party, Disney characters prepare in their own way… by donning their best PIRATE COSTUMES so you can get a hug and have your photo taken with the cutest band of pirates you ever did see.

But here’s the thing… Disney pals aren’t the only ones who get to gear up with gold hoop earrings, tricorn hats, striped shirts and socks, and… umm, HOOKS.

disney cruise pirate night menu

Captain Hook

You see, passengers are likewise encouraged to dress for the occasion ! And you won’t believe how many guests go ALL OUT for the big night.

Didn’t pack any pirate garb? That’s ok, matey! Disney Cruise Line has you covered, as every guest on the ship receives their very own Pirates in the Caribbean bandana to fit right in. (If you really won’t feel like your look is complete without an eye patch, though… you’re on your own.)

Pirate Eats

Of course, a pirate’s gotta eat to be ready to party, so Pirate Night features a special menu for dinner at each of the Main Dining restaurants .

disney cruise pirate night menu

Rapunzel’s Royal Table

On the Disney Magic, these are Rapunzel’s Royal Table, Lumiere’s , and Animator’s Palate . But don’t you fret… no matter where you are dining on Pirate Night in Disney Cruise Line’s signature Rotational Dining , the special Pirate Night menu will be served.

Though subject to change, other options may include dishes like Jolly Rogers Barbecue Rib Salad, Vegetable Samosas, Pirates Gold-en Pot Stickers and Chilled-to-the-Bone Honeydew Melon and Watermelon Soup. Oh, and you’ll likely spy Rum-Soaked Chocolate Cake as one of the dessert choices, of course. AHOY!

Pirate-y Extras

Pirate Night fun extends beyond dinner and the deck party onboard the Disney Magic! You might join in on Pirate Trivia or a themed game show as one of the many onboard activities.

Lil’ Pirates may enjoy pirate-themed activities at their own dedicated clubs (like Disney’s Oceaneer Club or Oceaneer Lab for kids ages 3 – 12 years old).

Didn’t have enough to eat at dinner? (HA! Like that would ever happen on a Disney Cruise…) Your itinerary might include a special late-night buffet following the deck party on Pirate Night ! (Your attentive server will let you know at dinner, if that’s the case.)

Disney Cruise Pirate Night Guide: Our Top Tips And Everything You Need To Know

If you ask people what activities they enjoyed on a Disney Cruise in the Caribbean, Pirate Night always seems to top the list. At first I wasn’t sure about the Pirate Night hype, but now it is one of my favorite on board activities. Here is our complete guide to Pirate Night with our family-tested tips so you can avoid rookie mistakes on your Disney Cruise Pirate Night.

What Is Disney Cruise Pirate Night?

Select Disney Cruises in the Caribbean have a special event called Pirate Night. This event is a combination of pirate-themed live shows, fireworks, a pirate makeover option, a late night dance party with full buffet, and special character meet and greets.

For the cruises from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas and Castaway Cay we’ve always enjoyed pirate night on our Nassau port day. Check your exact cruise itinerary to know which night is your scheduled Disney Cruise Pirate Night.

The party officially starts around 7:30PM with Pirate Games, but you can get into the pirate spirit much earlier than that with a makeover at Pirates League starting in the late afternoon.

Pirates League

What is pirates league.

Disney Cruise Pirate Night is a special event on cruises to the Caribbean. Here is our complete guide to Pirate Night and best tips to make it extra fun.

You have probably heard of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for princess makeovers, but did you know on Disney Cruise Pirate Night you can get pirate makeovers? These pirate makeovers start on the afternoon of Pirate Night when Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is taken over by rogue pirates and turned into the Pirates League.

Pirates League is for those age 3 years and older. In fact, there is no upper age limit at Pirates League. We mostly see kids, but some full families have gotten pirate makeovers for the night.

The Pirates League makeover options are make-up only or make-up plus a costume. Either choice will provide your pirate-in-training some keepsake goodies. There are 3 makeover options for the boys which feature different beards and make-up. For girls there is only one pirate makeover choice.

We’ve always opted to bring our own costume from home because there was only one option for a girl’s pirate costume. However, on our most recent trip I did notice they had a second costume option for girls. It wasn’t actually a costume, but a cute pirate themed t-shirt and tutu set.

Pirates League Makeover Experience

When entering Pirates League don’t expect a polite welcome, but that’s part of the fun. The pirates take the job very seriously and expect you to have the right swagger to join their crew. Their first task is to get you a new pirate name. You roll dice and the numbers decide what your new name will be.

Then the next available pirate calls you to their chair. Here you will choose exactly which make-up option you would like. There are some additional choices to be made during the princess pirate makeover such as eye shadow, blush, nail polish, and lipgloss color.

During the entire makeover your pirate stays in character and makes a big show of getting you ready to join the crew. Once you look the part you take the pirate oath. This oath binds you to the pirate crew.

The take home goodies from Pirates League, other than a costume if you choose that option, are a sword, a special bandanna, your pirate oath with new name, a medallion necklace, and an eye patch. For the pirate princess makeover you also get to keep the nail polish and lip gloss.

If you ask Elizabeth her favorite Pirate Night activity her answer is an emphatic “makeovers at Pirates League”, but really that  is just the beginning of the Disney Cruise Pirate Night fun.

Disney Cruise Pirate Night Events

Pirate Night on Disney Cruise Line encompasses several events. There are pirate character meet and greets, two live stage shows, fireworks, a dance party, and special late night buffet.

Special Pirate Character Meet And Greets

Disney Cruise Pirate Night is a special event on cruises to the Caribbean. Here is our complete guide to Pirate Night and best tips to make it extra fun. #disneycruise #piratenight #disney #familytravel

On Disney Cruise Pirate Night several characters get a pirate makeover. For example, Mickey meets guests in his full pirate outfit.

You can also meet some other special pirates like Captain Hook, Smee, or Captain Jack Sparrow. Please note that the wait times for these special character meet and greets can sometimes get long.

Pirates In The Caribbean

Disney Cruise Pirate Night is a special event on cruises to the Caribbean. Here is our complete guide to Pirate Night and best tips to make it extra fun. #disneycruise #piratenight #disney #familytravel

The first live show of the night is Mickey’s Pirates in the Caribbean.  This show usually begins at 7:45pm right after first seating for dinner is done.  The show takes place on the stage in front of Funnel Vision on the pool deck.

Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Daisy are a pirate crew looking for new recruits – you! They train you on the most important lessons a pirate needs to know with a mix of songs and activities.

After your lesson, Captain Hook and Smee take over Mickey’s ship with their pirate crew. For Mickey to regain control of the ship the audience needs to answer Smee and Hook’s tough pirate questions.

After Mickey’s Pirates in the Caribbean there is a short lull in activities while second dining takes place. This is a time you can try to meet those special characters or catch a show.

Buccaneer Blast

Disney Cruise Pirate Night is a special event on cruises to the Caribbean. Here is our complete guide to Pirate Night and best tips to make it extra fun. #disneycruise #piratenight #disney #familytravel

After second seating dinner has ended the next live show begins around 10:15pm. This show also takes place on the pool deck in front of Funnel Vision.

The live show has a pirate crew, including Captain Jack Sparrow, improvising silly songs with the help of the audience. The show is fun, but I don’t think it is as good as Mickey’s Pirates in the Caribbean. After the live show it is time for fireworks.

Disney Cruise Pirate Night is a special event on cruises to the Caribbean. Here is our complete guide to Pirate Night and best tips to make it extra fun. #disneycruise #piratenight #disney #familytravel

For me the highlight of Buccaneer Blast is the fireworks. Seeing fireworks launched from the ship over the ocean was such an impressive sight.

Club Pirate

After the fireworks a DJ takes over the stage in front of Funnel Vision. They play a variety of family friendly dance favorites. I enjoyed dancing and being silly with Elizabeth and lots of families were on the dance floor living it up.

Pirate Night Buffet

Disney Cruise Pirate Night is a special event on cruises to the Caribbean. Here is our complete guide to Pirate Night and best tips to make it extra fun. #disneycruise #piratenight #disney #familytravel

Cabanas buffet reopens with a full special Pirate Night buffet during Club Pirate. We were still stuffed from dinner, but others were indulging on the late night meal. I loved looking at the pirate themed watermelon carvings and other pirate decor in the buffet line.

Are Costumes Required On Pirate Night?

Disney Cruise Pirate Night is a special event on cruises to the Caribbean. Here is our complete guide to Pirate Night and best tips to make it extra fun. #disneycruise #piratenight #disney #familytravel

The quick answer is “no”. This was my biggest concern about Disney Cruise Pirate Night on our first Disney Cruise . I am not really a costume person, but didn’t know if I would feel left out without one. I opted to wear regular clothes our first Pirate Night, and although it was fine I did wish I had done a little something pirate inspired.

I still don’t wear a pirate costume, but I do opt for a pirate inspired look with regular clothes. On our most recent trip I used black jeans, black booties, a necklace and bracelets I already owned. I added a striped T-shirt and big hoop earrings from Target and ordered an inexpensive red scarf from Amazon that I used as a sash. This allowed me to participate in our Disney Cruise Pirate Night, but in a way I felt comfortable.

If you are a costume person then go for it. There are lots of people in full pirate gear and make-up and it is awesome. I especially love to see when full families get into the costume spirit. My only rule is do the level of pirate night costume you are comfortable doing.

My Tips For Disney Cruise Pirate Night

Schedule your pirate league makeover early in the afternoon.

Pirates League makeovers cost money and I think that the earlier you get the makeover the more time you have to enjoy it. Scheduling your appointment near the opening time of Pirates League is especially important if your have first dinner. Otherwise you may have to miss out on part or all of dinner to get your makeover done.

Make Your Pirates League Appointment Before Your Trip

Don’t wait until you are on the ship to schedule Pirates League. Instead book it online when you are choosing your other cruise activities such as scheduled character meet and greets , spa treatments, or excursions. Scheduling ahead of time gives you the largest number of appointment time options.

Set Up Early For The Best Views Of Mickey’s Pirates in the Caribbean Show

Unlike setting up for a Disney parade you don’t have to arrive that early to secure a good viewing spot. At 7:30pm we were still able to grab off-center seats pretty close to the stage for Mickey’s Pirates in the Caribbean. I really like this show and enjoy being close to the action.

Pick Your Fireworks Viewing Spot Carefully

Disney Cruise Pirate Night is a special event on cruises to the Caribbean. Here is our complete guide to Pirate Night and best tips to make it extra fun. #disneycruise #piratenight #disney #familytravel

We were running late to Buccaneer Blast after second seating dinner on our most recent trip. I rushed upstairs and grabbed a good spot to watch the live show on the starboard side of the stage, but I forgot all about the firework viewing.

The fireworks are launched over the starboard side of the ship. For those who don’t speak boat that means on the right side of the ship if you are facing front. We were able to see the fireworks, but had a obstructed view because of the AquaDuck tubing.

For the best fireworks view grab a spot on the port side of the boat. The best pirate night fireworks viewing spot is probably port side on the upper deck, but then the view of the live show isn’t as good. Just remember to pick port side (left side of boat when facing forward) and you’ll be in good shape for fireworks viewing.

I think this is the most important part of a Disney Cruise Pirate Night. People are generally in a good mood and have a lot of fun on Pirate Night. Do what makes you feel comfortable with costume and make-up. The main thing is to just go out and have a great time with these special activities.

Don’t Over-Do Pirate Night

My only words of caution are this: if you want to be off the boat early the next morning, don’t stay out partying too late. We always see parents and kids struggling on the morning after Pirate Night. And generally the entire port day after can be a challenge if everyone is tired. Know yourself and your family to choose the right level of Pirate Night party for you.

Final Thoughts On Disney Cruise Pirate Night

I think the reason people love Pirate Night so much is that it is a chance for everyone to be a bit of a kid for the night. People are in a good mood and the feeling of fun is infectious. The live shows, fireworks, Club Pirate, and late night buffet keep the Pirate Night fun going for hours. I really enjoy this special Disney Cruise event on our Caribbean cruises and I hope you do, too!

Disney Cruise Packing List

What happens on pirate night.

  • What to Wear for Pirate Night

About the Fireworks

Frequently asked questions, pirate themed dinner.

The party begins with a special pirate dinner in your assigned main dining restaurant. It’s similar to most main dining dinners but with a pirate flair. Servers will be dressed in their pirate-y best as well as many of the cruisers.

You will be handed a menu that looks like a treasure map with such food items like Jolly Rogers Barbecue Rib Salad or Chilled-to-the-Bone Honeydew Melon and Watermelon Soup.

There will most likely be some Caribbean dishes as well such as Tia Dalma's Jerk Chicken and Rum-Soaked Chocolate Cake.

Disney Cruise Pirate Night Dinner

Pirate Night Games & Activities

Pirate night actually starts in the afternoon when most of the regular entertainment shifts to a pirate theme.

disney cruise pirate night menu

A big hit with the wee lad’s and lassie’s is the Disney Junior Pirate and Princess Dance Party .

You can also get crafty and create your own pirate treasure with the cruise staff.

Later, Captain Mickey and his pirate crew host a Pirate Celebration on deck between the first and second dinners.

Do you like game shows? Then join in the fun at the action packed pirate game show at A Pirate's Life For Me or test your pirate knowledge by participating in pirate trivia.

So much to do!

Stage Shows

There are two pirate-themed stage shows on the pool deck.

The first show, which is more family-friendly and geared towards younger kids, will be between the two dinner seatings - around 7:30pm - and the second show is right before the fireworks which starts at 10:30pm. (Check your daily Navigator for exact times.)

The later show can be scary for some children if they are sensitive to loud noises.

(Don’t get me wrong, both shows are safe for kids of all ages; just be prepared if you have little ones who might be sensitive.)

The Big Highlight: Buccaneer Blast Fireworks

Buccaneer Blast fireworks are one the most anticipated events on a Disney Cruise .

This pyrotechnic spectacular is set to a dramatic score featuring songs from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies.

We go into more detail on this explosive show below including where the best viewing spots are. So keep reading...

Late Night Buffet

Finish off the night with - what else? - more food!

If you’re like me, I get hungry about every two hours when I’m cruisin’ so why not enjoy the late night pirate buffet in Cabanas?

The buffet usually opens around 10:45pm so it will be waiting for you once the fireworks are over. There will be a smorgasbord of food for you to indulge in including giant turkey legs.

What to Wear for Disney Cruise Pirate Night

M any guests will dress up in swashbuckling gear for Pirate Night... but there is absolutely no obligation for guests to dress up at all.

Everyone will receive a free Pirates in the Caribbean bandana to wear if they’d like. It will most likely be left in your cabin or given to you at dinner.

Disney Cruise Pirate Night

Some guests just tie on the provided bandana or put on an eyepatch and call it good. Some will go all out and be in full pirate costumes while others will be somewhere in between.

There really is no right or wrong here. It’s totally up to you!

If you do want to dress up, most people do so to dinner and keep it on for the remainder of the evening. You will see your servers as well as Mickey and Minnie and friends dressed in in their pirate garb too!

Before you start purchasing your costumes for Pirate Night, you need to know that any type of toy sword is prohibited on DCL and will not be allowed on the ship. (Note: I’ve heard that there are approved toy swords for sale in the shops onboard but I haven’t verified that.)

I personally love to shop Amazon because many of their costumes have free returns so if it doesn’t fit or it doesn’t look good on me, I just return it for free and try again.

Shopping without getting out of my pajamas? Uh, yes please!

Just make sure you see “FREE Returns” next to the price. If you see that then you can return that item for any reason and receive a full refund. You won’t even have to pay return shipping fees!

I did notice that Free Returns are harder to find on children’s costumes but on adult costumes it’s quite common.

Idea #2: Shop in Stores

I f it’s near Halloween then hit a Halloween store for costumes. Even better, if it’s the day or week AFTER Halloween you can get costumes on clearance. YES! I love saving money!

You can also check your local dollar store. They typically have a selection of pirate items such as eye patches, pirate hats, etc for cheap.

If you get on the cruise and realize you forgot something, the shops onboard the ship do have select merchandise available.

But if dad forgot his puffy pirate shirt, he’s out of luck. The onboard stock is mostly just for kids.

Idea #3: Get Creative

R ather not spend money on a costume? No problem. You probably have some items in your closet that will do the trick.

Just stick with the colors red, black and white and maybe throw in some stripes. That way you’ll be festive without being in a costume.

Here are some ideas:

  • A white or black off-the-shoulder top or a black/white or red/white striped shirt
  • A black vest
  • A red sash belt
  • A bandana (remember they give you a free bandana on the cruise)
  • Black or red skinny pants, jeans, leggings or skirt
  • Black boots (if they have buckles or cuffs then that’s a plus)
  • Hoop earrings
  • Bangle bracelets
  • Pirate-y necklace (skulls anyone?)
  • Heavy eyeliner 🙂

Idea #4: Keep It Simple

D on’t want to take up precious suitcase space on pirate garb?

Don’t sweat it, matey. Nobody'll make ye walk the plank.

Just throw on an eye patch and the provided bandana and call it good.

If you wanna do a little more, go with a simple Jolly Roger t-shirt like this one . They come in all sizes and colors.

Idea #5: Get Gussied Up at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

I f  you really want to take it to the next level make an appointment for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on the day of Pirates Night.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique transforms into The Pirates League just for the day where kids of all ages (yes, you too, Mom and Dad) are able to get pirate makeovers for an additional fee.

After your transformation you will be sworn in with a sacred pirate oath making you an official member of Captain Jack’s crew!

Space is extremely limited, so be sure to book your appointment early.

How to Book the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique (aka The Pirates League)

Before you embark.

Once you are checked into your cruise, go online and view the My Cruise Activities page. This will show when the themed days and nights are scheduled and allow you to begin booking your Pirates League reservation.

Visit or call Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique during business hours. The hours vary so check the Navigator when onboard.

The following special packages are available only on Pirate Night at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

PIRATE LEAGUE TRANSFORMATIONS TAKE 45 MINUTES

D isney’s fireworks are spectacular! While the the onboard display isn’t quite as awe-inspiring as the ones at the Disney parks, the Buccaneer Blast is still one of the most anticipated activities on the ship.

Disney was the first cruise line to introduce fireworks on their sailings and is currently the only cruise line offering a fireworks show at sea.

This event is weather permitting but Disney does their best to make sure that it happens whether it’s re-positioning the ship to a better location or rescheduling it for a different night.

Disney’s Fireworks ARE Environmentally Friendly

The best place to view the fireworks on disney cruise.

Fireworks are launched from the starboard side of the ship - slightly aft of midship.

There are several good locations to view the fireworks, so I thought I'd list some of my favorites.

First, some definitions.  If you are facing forward towards the bow (front) of the ship...

  • Port = left side of the ship
  • Starboard = right side of the ship

On Disney Wonder / Disney Magic

Deck 10: starboard side, deck 10: port side -- just be sure you're not behind the funnels which may partially block your view, on disney fantasy / disney dream, deck 12: port side -- against the railing that overlooks the pool/deck stage.

This location lets you watch the pirate show below and still see the fireworks across the ship on the starboard side without having to move. If you end up closer to the outer railing that overlooks the water, be careful that the Aquaduck above you does not obstruct your view.

Deck 12: Starboard Side -- close to the outer railing overlooking the water

You can watch the stage show on the Funnel Vision. Be careful that the Aquaduck above you won’t obstruct your view.

Deck 11: Port Side

Don't sit under Deck 12 on the starboard side or you will have trouble seeing fireworks.

Deck 13: Starboard Side -- forward

This is an adults only area for guests 18 and up. You will not be able to see the pirate show that is on the Deck Stage from this viewing area but you will be able to enjoy the fireworks sitting in a lounger with a cocktail in hand.

If You Have a Starboard Verandah Stateroom...

Will there be a pirate night on my cruise.

Unfortunately, not all DCL itineraries offer a Pirate Night.

Due to environmental laws, the Alaskan itineraries and some European sailings do not have a Pirate Night.

If you are booked on one of these itineraries, make sure to check first before planning for pirate festivities .

Also, Pirate Night festivities don't take place on Disney Marvel Cruise or Star Wars Disney Cruise , as there are other celebrations on those sailings.

Will there be a Pirate Night on my Disney Cruise?

When is Pirate Night?

For specific dates and times, check the Personal Navigator or Disney Cruise Line Navigator mobile app once onboard the ship.

If you want to know what day of your cruise it will be before you get on the ship, call Disney at 800-951-3532 once you are close to your embarkation date.

You can also find out by looking online (once you’ve checked in ) to see when The Pirates League makeovers are available. They will only be available on Pirate Night. So the day you are able to book one of the Pirates League packages is the night you will have your Pirate Night.

You view this on the My Cruise Activities page on the Disney Cruise website .

TRADITIONAL PIRATE NIGHT SCHEDULES (subject to change - your cruise may be different)

  • 3-Night Cruise: Night 2
  • 4-Night Cruise: Night 3
  • 5-Night Cruise: Night 2
  • 7-Night Cruise: Night 4 or 5

Complete Guide to Pirate Night on Disney Cruise Line

by Kelly Coffey-Behrens | Apr 12, 2023 | Disney Cruise Line

We’re sharing a complete guide for everything you need to know about the swashbuckling good time that is Pirate Night on Disney Cruise Line sailings!

Ahoy, mateys! If you are getting ready to set sail aboard Disney Cruise Line, you may want to pack your eye patch and secure your treasure because Disney Cruise’s Pirate Night is something you won’t want to miss. Pirate Night aboard Disney Cruise Line is a special-themed night that occurs on select sailings, complete with themed entertainment, dining, and an on-deck party. We’re sharing your complete guide with everything you need to know about Pirate Night before setting sail.

What Is Pirate Night?

Pirate Night is a special themed night that occurs on all five Disney Cruise Line ships: Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Wish. Bring your best pirate-themed outfit and dress for the occasion, as Cast Members and Disney Characters will be channeling their inner Jack Sparrow for the evening.

From special events such as Pirates of the Caribbean trivia to special meet and greets, including rare character appearances like Captain Hook, Mr. Smee, and Captain Jack Sparrow , Pirate Night aboard Disney Cruise Line is a fun-filled evening, perfect for the whole family.

Special Activities During Pirate Night

Guests sailing on Disney Cruise Line during Pirate Night will find special-themed trivia, games, and even meet-and-greets with characters who will be dressed in pirate attire, making for unique photo opportunities.

“Pirates of the Caribbean” will also be playing either on the Funnel Vision by the pool deck or inside the movie theater on board. Guests wishing to get into the pirate spirit may also stream the Pirates of the Caribbean films, or Peter Pan , via their television inside their stateroom.

Disney Cruise Pirate Night-Themed Dinner

Guests will find a special pirate-themed dinner in one of the Main Dining restaurants. The wait staff, who will be dressed for the occasion, will greet you with a cheerful “Ahoy matey” and “Arrr!” making the dining experience unique from the moment you step inside the restaurant. Once you are seated, you will find a pirate party bandana at your seat, one for each guest (make sure to tie it around your head to celebrate the festivities!), as well as a special pirate-themed dinner menu.

Dinner items in the past have included options such as Jolly Rogers Barbecue Rib Salad, Pirates Gold-en Pot Stickers, and Chilled-to-the-Bone Honeydew Melon and Watermelon Soup. However, menu offerings are subject to change.

Pirate-Themed Deck Party and Show

After your special pirate-themed dinner, make sure to visit the pool deck for the Pirates in the Caribbean Deck Party, an entertaining pirate show which includes a fantastic fireworks display! For those sailing on the Disney Wish specifically, the show is not to be missed as Captain Redd, who Disney fans may recognize from the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction , makes an appearance and even sings a rock rendition of the iconic pirate tune “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me).”

DCL Sailings That Include Pirate Night

All of the current Disney Cruise Line ships offer a Pirates Night for most of their itineraries aboard the Disney Fantasy, Disney Magic, Disney Dream, Disney Wonder, and Disney Wish . If you are sailing with Disney Cruise Line, be sure to check your itinerary to find out if Pirate Night is included in your Disney Cruise itinerary. If so, the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app will let you know which night Pirate Night will fall on for your cruise.

Disney Cruise Menus

by Prof. Cruise · Published January 30, 2022 · Updated June 12, 2023

A bunch of Disney cruise menus with text that reads: Disney Cruise Menus.

There’s something you should know about me that might surprise you. I went on a Disney cruise before it was cool. In fact, I went on a Disney cruise before Disney Cruise Line even existed! You’re probably asking yourself two questions at this point: “how?” and “just how old is she?!?”

At 10 years-old I went on my very first cruise, a “Disney cruise” onboard Premier Cruise Line (they had a partnership with Disney that allowed characters on their ships and offered cruise, hotel, and theme park packages). I was reminiscing about that first cruise today with Paul Thornton as he interviewed me for the third in his series of cruise books and thought to myself, “even though I’m cheaper than Jack Benny (that should offer you a clue as to my age) and low-key hate Disney (Walt would want you to go easy on me in the comments), as someone who cruises for a living I really shouldn’t have let 30+ years go by between Disney cruises.”

disney cruise pirate night menu

So that got me thinking about planning a Disney cruise. And since food is one of the most important aspects of cruising, I was curious as to whether the quality and variety of food on Disney would justify the extra cost. I figured some of my readers may be wondering the same, so I reached out to a Disney loving cruise buddy and he sent along these recent menus (these specific menus are from the Dream and the Fantasy – other ships will vary slightly, but this will still give you a basic idea of what to expect).

He also sent me a primer on “rotational dining,” which I think sounds pretty unique and fun.

What’s “rotational dining” on Disney cruises?

It’s like speed dating with food! Disney ships have three main dining rooms with a different menu and theme. Each evening of your cruise you will rotate to a different restaurant (assigned to you in advance) with your same table-mates and wait staff. In looking over the menus posted below, the three dining rooms are: Animator’s Palate, Enchanted Garden, and Royal Palace. There’s also a pirate theme night that will take place in one of those dining rooms and I’ve included that menu as well.

I’ll spare you any further song and dance (you’ll get plenty of that if you decide to book a Disney cruise) and get straight to the menus. But if there’s anyone reading who has cruised on Disney, please chime in in the comments with your experience and your favorite menu items.

Disney Cruise Line’s Breakfast Menu (included)

This breakfast menu will be available in one of the main dining rooms and is included in your cruise fare.

Disney Cruise Line’s Animator’s Palate Diner Menu Menu (included)

Aminator’s Palate is one of the three main dining rooms you will “rotate” through for dinner. If you are on a Disney ship other than the Dream or the Fantasy the dining rooms will have different names.

Disney Cruise Line’s Enchanted Garden Dinner Menu (included)

Enchanted Garden is one of the three main dining rooms you will “rotate” through for dinner. If you are on a Disney ship other than the Dream or the Fantasy the dining rooms will have different names.

Disney Cruise Line’s Royal Palace Dinner Menu (included)

Royal Palace (called “Royal Court” on the Fantasy) is one of the three main dining rooms you will “rotate” through for dinner. If you are on a Disney ship other than the Dream or the Fantasy the dining rooms will have different names.

Disney Cruise Line’s Pirate Night Dinner Menu (included)

On most Disney itineraries there will be a Pirate-themed night that will take place in whatever restaurant you’re assigned for that night. Here’s the menu:

Disney Cruise Line’s Kids Menus

Here are the kid’s menus for a 7-night sailing. Each menu will also include an additional page with activities for kids to complete while waiting for their meal to arrive. Or for adults who forgot to charge their phone.

Room service is included for free on Disney cruises (except for specialty items noted below), but be sure to tip. I typically tip $2 per item ordered, but do whatever you’re comfortable with.

This adults-only Italian specialty restaurant offers a prix fixe option for $45 or you can order à la carte.

Disney Cruise Line Remy Dinner Menu (extra charge)

At $125 for the prix fixe option (you can also order à la carte), Remy stands out as the most expensive specialty restaurant at sea. The French-inspired offerings are the work of two world renowned chefs, Scott Hunnel, from the award-winning Victoria & Albert’s at the Disney World Resort, and Arnaud Lallement, a Michelin 3-starred chef recently named one of the world’s 10 best chefs by  Le Chef .

Disney Cruise Line Remy Dinner Menu 2022 page 1

These menus almost make me want to get a real job so I can afford them! That seems extreme though. Instead I think I’ll start subtly working on my in-laws, tugging gently on their heart strings: “Your grandson will love you more if you take us all on a Disney cruise!”

If my next post includes a photo of me pouting in 30-year-old Minnie ears with a “DONATE HERE TO SEND PROF. CRUISE ON A DISNEY CRUISE” button, you’ll know it didn’t work. And with that…

CLASS DISMISSED.

Homework (10 points): Share your thoughts on cruising Disney in the comments. If you’ve taken a Disney cruise, what did you think? If you haven’t, why not? Tips? Tricks? Highlights? Worth the higher cost? Not worth the higher cost? Favorite menu items? I want to hear it all! I love learning from my cruise friends, especially when they know way more about a topic than I do! Thanks in advance!

These 10 tips for Disney Cruise first timers ensure a magical experience

I f you're reading this, you are probably getting ready to go on your first Disney Cruise or searching for tips on how to get ready for your first Disney Cruise. You may be researching and figuring out whether a Disney Cruise is right for you. You've come to the right place.

I've been on seven Disney cruises with numbers eight and nine booked. Here are my best tips.

Here are 10 things you need to know about how to get ready for your first Disney cruise

1. download the disney cruise line navigator app.

Go to iTunes or Google Play Store for the free Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. Make sure everyone else in your travel party does the same.

You'll use the app while preparing to cruise and board the ship. Once you embark, you'll be able to use the messaging feature to communicate with other members of your group, even if you don't purchase the onboard WiFi package. The app will also give you access to other onboard information, including entertainment schedules and dinner menus.

2. Reserve onboard activities early

One of the reasons a Disney Cruise is so awesome is all  that is included . There are a few things you'll have to reserve in advance and a few extras you'll have to pay for that aren't included in the price of your cruise. These include spa treatments, shore excursions, and specialty dining, like Palo and Remy.

First-time Disney cruisers can book activities and special experiences 75 days out. You will want to book these activities at midnight Florida time on the first-day bookings are open for you. I know that sounds a little crazy, but everything fills up quickly. The higher Castaway Club levels and concierge level cabins will have an earlier booking window, so some things will already be full, even if you're an ultra-early bird.

Packing for a cruise and feeling overwhelmed?  Here are 20 cruise packing checklists for you to check out!

3. Check-in early

You can check in online for your Disney Cruise 30 days before embarkation. Again, you'll need to check in at midnight Florida time, right at the 30-day mark. Early check-in means earlier boarding time and more time to enjoy the vacation you've paid for versus sitting in the port's waiting area.

Boarding groups and port arrival times are staggered, so don't snooze on doing your online check-in.

4. Schedule the Character Call – Possibly the most fun part of getting ready for your Disney Cruise

You can schedule a free, pre-recorded call from a Disney character to generate excitement about your upcoming cruise or reveal the fact that there is a cruise in your family’s near future. This is fun…and no, Mickey and Minnie don’t talk back but this gets everyone pumped up about going on a Disney Cruise.

5. Record the moment you walk onto the ship

This might be a spoiler but I wish someone had told me this part. When you walk onto the ship for the first time, record your experience or ask the family ahead of you to do it. Or the family behind you. Just make sure the video is rolling because it's magical.

When we stepped on board the ship, the Cast Member inside asked us our family’s last name. “Robbins,” we said without questioning why. I mean…it seemed like a simple enough question.

“ Please welcome aboard the Robbins Family .”

This was shouted into a microphone and all the crew standing nearby clapped and cheered as we crossed the threshold. I almost cried. This immediately set the tone for the entire cruise and now I know what it feels like to be visiting royalty.

6. Prepare to Party Like a Pirate

Most Disney Cruises include a pirate night. Pirate night includes special themed menus in the dining room, beloved Disney characters in pirate costumes, and on-deck entertainment.

The pirate show has music, characters, and dancing. Disney's newest ship, the Disney Wish , has an 80's rock-themed pirate show but to date, the other ships have a good versus evil pirate show where Captain Hook tries to take over the ship and Captain Mickey comes to the rescue. Disney is the only cruise line that does fireworks at sea.*

One of the most fun things about the pirate night is seeing how many guests dress in pirate costumes. Disney Cruise Line also sells a variety of pirate costumes and accessories.

*Alaska sailing does not have fireworks at sea and usually has a Frozen-themed  deck party instead of a pirate party.

7. Decorate Your Door with fun, decorations from Etsy

Shouting out loud and proud is fun on any cruise but the design of the Disney Cruise Line's magnetic stateroom doors gives you so many fun options. The round porthole design on the door is a fun space to decorate around. The door design on the Disney Wish is shaped differently so keep that in mind if you're ordering door decorations that rely on that round design.

8. Join the Facebook group for your cruise

The odds are excellent that someone has started a Facebook group for the passengers sailing on your cruise. Find them by searching for the name of the ship and the date of the sailing.

These are unofficial groups, usually managed by experienced cruisers, not by Disney. It's not unusual for the group admins to be travel agents or travel content creators. These are usually drama-free online gathering spots to ask questions and make friends with other passengers before your cruise.

9. Learn About Fish Extender Gift Exchanges

Fish extender gift exchanges are unofficial gift exchanges organized by passengers. These are typically organized within the cruise's Facebook group.

Fish Extenders are named for the small metal fish* outside stateroom doors that are used as a mailbox for any paperwork the cruise staff wants to distribute to you during your cruise. Most guests participating in a Fish Extender gift exchange will have some sort of Disney-themed handmade holder for other passengers to put their gifts in. If you don't want to make your own, Etsy sells them.

*On the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy , Fish is on the port side and Seahorses are on the starboard side, but the concept is the same.

10. Make a must-do list

Do you want to have a massage on the beach? Dine Palo? Take a selfie with Minnie Mouse in her pirate costume. There is so much on a Disney Cruise and the time will fly. Jot down a list of things you'll be disappointed not to experience.

It's hard to do everything on a single cruise, so don't stress yourself out trying.

9. Book your next cruise on board

Book on board and receive 10 percent off a future cruise. The deposit is minimal and you don't have to book your cruise or pick your date. Your $200 deposit can be applied against a future cruise that must be completed within the next two years. Make sure you read the fine print because some restrictions do apply.

Disney Cruise Line doesn't offer a ton of sales or discounts so if you're having fun and see yourself doing another Disney Cruise in the next two years, booking the placeholder is pretty low risk. You'll get your deposit back if you don't book during the allotted time.

10. Don’t compare Disney to any other cruise line

I will tell you that a Disney Cruise will spoil you for any other cruise line. A Disney Cruise is an experience all its own. If you’re an experienced cruiser, you’ll have some insider info that will help you rock your first Disney Cruise. But, a Disney Cruise is just different. It’s special. It’s magical.

It’s like that crazy roller coaster ride where you get off, laugh, and immediately say “Let’s go again.” It’s just like that.

Princess makeovers and $18K dinners: How to spend a fortune at Disney

For a cool $500,000, you too can have an ultra luxury disney honeymoon, complete with a custom gown and carriage.

disney cruise pirate night menu

For some Disney fans, waiting in ride lines and dining with the masses at the theme parks just won’t do.

Those seeking a lifestyles-of-the-rich-and-famous experience can be ushered through lines by a dedicated guide for as much as $900 an hour; watch fireworks from a private boat for $450; or spend three hours sampling food and wine in the kitchen of a fine-dining restaurant for $635 a person. Not pricey enough? There’s always the $18,000 private dinner experience.

Plenty of people are paying for these experiences; in some cases, demand is so high that there’s a waiting list.

“There are a number of people out there where money is no object,” said Greg Antonelle, co-owner of the travel agency MickeyTravels . “I’m a little jealous.”

He said a five-day trip with VIP access, fancy food and luxury accommodations could easily add up to $30,000 to $40,000.

The Walt Disney Company has made headlines for exorbitant prices, including the now-closed $5,000 Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel and role-playing experience and $115,000 private jet excursion to every global Disney park. Even entry-level visitors complain about ticket prices, food costs and the relatively new expense of skipping lines .

The company offers more budget-friendly options, with the cheapest ticket priced at $104 or $109 in California and Florida respectively. In low season, a value-priced hotel room at Disney World runs for about $155 a night.

“Like other vacation destinations, we give our guests lots of options to customize their Disney experience,” Disney spokesperson Avery Maehrer said in a statement.

Still, some fans complain that a Disney vacation has become so costly that it’s out of reach for the middle class, even without luxury upgrades. Between tickets, hotel, food and souvenirs, even a penny-pinching trip can set a family of four back more than $3,000.

For those who have never pinched a penny in their lives — or just saved for a special-occasion splurge — Disney provides a host of options . The extras range from pricey add-ons to truly aspirational indulgence.

$450-an-hour VIP tour

Consider some of the most annoying aspects of a Disney trip — parking, hiking to the gate, queuing to get in, then standing in, line for rides all day. Now imagine avoiding all of that. That’s the promise of a VIP guide who will pick you up, sweep you through backstage entrances and usher you onto rides with minimal or no waits.

The convenience doesn’t come cheap. At Walt Disney World, the tour costs between $450 and $900 an hour, depending on the time of year, with a minimum of seven hours and maximum of 10. Ten people can be part of the group. Park admission is not included — and neither is a tip.

Antonelle said his company has clients who will book 10 days at Disney World and opt for VIP tours for seven of those days. He said it’s not uncommon to see a plaid-wearing VIP tour guide carry a family’s food trays at restaurants or push strollers with the group.

Cara Goldsbury, president and founder of the luxury Disney travel agency Glass Slipper Concierge , said the guides also share stories, trivia and history, and provide access to special viewing areas for parades and nighttime shows.

“That’s the only way to do it as far as most of our clients are concerned,” she said.

$185 photo package

Photographers are stationed all over Disney World parks to take photos of guests, but those snapshots aren’t free. To get downloads of all the pictures from an entire trip, including from rides, the “Memory Maker” package costs $185 if purchased in advance, or $210 during the vacation.

For those who want more time with a photographer, or don’t want to wait for six other families to get that shot in front of the castle, Disney offers private 20-minute photo sessions for $99.

Staci Kimball, a travel adviser and vice president of GSC World Travel , a sister company to Glass Slipper Concierge, said clients care more about memories and experiences than merchandise.

“We really do always recommend either a private photo session or certainly buying the Memory Maker photo package so they can capture all of those memories,” she said.

$250 custom lightsaber

Mickey Mouse ears, popcorn buckets and bubble wands are always in demand, but some travelers want to have a role in making their souvenirs.

Kimball said she helps clients book the Savi’s Workshop experience, where Star Wars-loving visitors can custom-build their own lightsaber. It costs about $250 at Hollywood Studio s in Florida and $220 at Disneyland in California .

“That is a really popular, popular activity,” she said. “That can also be hard to get.”

Another in-demand interactive gadget: a build-your-own droid for about $120 in Florida and $100 in California .

$449 fireworks cruise

Don’t want to brave crowds for fireworks? There are a number of ways to get a better view — including from the water.

Starting at $449, a private fireworks cruise at Disney World can seat up to 10 people and includes snacks and drinks. Chartered boats set sail from several hotels to view the fireworks show at Epcot and Magic Kingdom.

“What we’ve learned is people that are spending exorbitant amounts of money on their vacation, they don’t like waiting in lines, number one, and they don’t like being 20 rows of people back for fireworks,” Antonelle said. Sure, fireworks are overhead, but who really wants to camp out for a good spot and look at hundreds of other necks craning if they can avoid it?

$450 princess makeover

Kids who dream of being royalty, or just looking like the product of a fairy godmother’s magic wand, can visit Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Magic Kingdom or Disneyland Park .

Packages start at $99.95 for the princess treatment in both locations or $19.95 for a knight’s look in Florida and $49.95 in California. The most expensive option, starting at $450, includes a “signature Disney Princess gown,” crystal tiara, garment bag, hairstyling, makeup, sash, face gem and nail polish.

“I just did Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique with my 5-year-old granddaughter,” said Goldsbury, who wrote “ The Luxury Guide to Walt Disney World Resort .” “It was the most darling experience.”

$7,900-plus a night hotel

Goldsbury said her company prefers to book clients at Disney World’s priciest, most conveniently located — or “deluxe” — resorts, especially those connected by monorail to the Magic Kingdom. Some rooms have “club level” designation with lounges and free food, she said.

A search of available inventory shows a club-level two-bedroom suite at the Grand Floridian for $3,597 a night in early April of 2025. The Polynesian’s King Kamehameha suite is listed for $3,320 in late August of 2025, a typical slow season.

In California, the two-bedroom Mickey Mouse suite at the Disneyland Hotel is going for about $5,025 in June of this year, and the two-bedroom Mount Whitney suite at the Grand Californian is listed for a whopping $7,984 a night in June.

For some travelers, deluxe hotel prices pose zero problems. Antonelle said he books a “royal family from overseas” at a Disney World deluxe resort.

“They’ll book out literally dozens of rooms because they’re bringing their nannies, they’re bringing their security,” he said.

$18,000 private dining experience

Disney parks are full of budget-stretching drinking and dining options. But three-course dinner inspired by “Beauty and the Beast?” Get ready to shell out $70 per adult. A tequila tasting with a “certified Tequila Ambassador” costs $180 per person. The Chef’s Table at Victoria & Albert’s, a restaurant at the Grand Floridian Resort, is a hot ticket at $635 a person for wine and food.

21 Royal, a private dining experience situated atop Pirates of the Caribbean in California, may take the cake. It costs $18,000 for a group as large as 12 and promises transportation, a reception, opportunity to explore the apartment-type surroundings, a meal on gold-plated dinnerware and balcony dessert with a view of evening entertainment.

AJ Wolfe, owner of the Disney Food Blog , has eaten at 21 Royal twice.

“It was luxurious for sure — the food was wonderful, and I felt like a VIP,” she wrote in an email. “Also, for a Disney history nerd it’s amazing because you know that Walt was integral in thinking about that space — maybe not the decor necessarily, but the layout.”

$95,000 top-floor hotel buyout

The Four Seasons Resort Orlando, near the theme parks, allows guests to rent out its entire 16th floor , which includes balconies with a view of fireworks at Epcot and Magic Kingdom. While the hotel isn’t operated by Disney, advisers say it’s a good fit for luxury travelers who are used to five-star service.

According to the resort, the cost for the top floor is $95,000 a night, plus tax. On a smaller but still extremely expensive scale, prices for the Presidential Suite start at $19,000 a night and $22,000 a night for the Royal Suite.

$500,000 honeymoon

Jennifer Kozlow, a travel adviser and vice president of Glass Slipper Concierge, said she had clients who spent their five-week honeymoon at Disney World. The trip included transportation to a special event in a carriage, a custom gown, private dining as the characters from “Beauty and the Beast” danced, a special fireworks viewing and VIP tours every other day for the five-week stretch. The couple stayed in presidential suites at four different hotels.

Another client managed to spend the same amount of money in a much shorter stretch: four days. Kozlow said the group — a family of 37 — bought out the top floor of the Four Seasons to celebrate the matriarch’s 80th birthday. The family had private meals delivered to their suites so relatives could come and go. The group did daily VIP tours using four guides.

“They flew in on a private plane just to see the resort,” Kozlow said.

There is one thing money can’t buy, she said.

“People do ask: Can they get a character to come to their suite? That you definitely can’t do,” Kozlow said. “They don’t tuck you in at night.”

More about Disney

Outsiders banned: Disney theme park trips cost a lot — more every year — and take heaps of planning to pull off. But the company has recently banned some independent tour guides from helping visitors navigate the parks, citing “unauthorized commercial activities.”

Next-level fandom: For some Disney fans, donning a pair of Mickey ears isn’t enough. In a practice called “ Disneybounding ,” they create entire character-inspired outfits that don’t run afoul of rules that ban costumes for adults. Disney food fans had a reason to celebrate when a beloved snack, Dole Whip , came to grocery stores. How does it stack up to the parks version?

Political crossfire: The most magical place on earth has gotten political , thanks to a battle with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R). While several observers have suggested Disney World move out of the Sunshine State, experts say it’s a goofy proposition. Fan sites have been forced to add coverage of lawsuits to their standard lineup about rides, churros and characters.

Moscow at Night

Author: Peter Kolesnichenko · Published: May 21, 2021 · Modified: Jul 5, 2021

Most tourists would venture out to explore Moscow at night around Red Square. It's the same city, but Moscow comes alive completely different at nighttime. The beautiful iconic buildings lit up, like a wonderland.

Walking in Moscow at Night in Red Square

Is Moscow Safe at Night?

This is a good place to start. In my experience, absolutely. I haven't had any issues in Moscow during the day or night. Especially around the Kremlin and Red Square, there are many police officers around. It's probably one of the most surveilled places in Russia, you'd have to be pretty stupid to attempt something.

However, this doesn't mean that crime doesn't happen, of course it does. You need to always make good choices, be careful with your valuables and money, and don't do anything stupid. This is a global rule, regardless of your country.

According to Numbeo, the Crime Index in Moscow was lower than Perth Australia (where I'm from) and lower than New York City. That surprised me, as Perth is a pretty sleepy town in comparison to Moscow. My experience, don't wander in any city in alleyways or anywhere that's dimly lit. Stick to Red Square and area, and you will love the evening sights.

Nikolskaya St and GUM at Night

Nikolskaya Street

Beside Red Square is Nikolskaya Street. This is such a beautiful and Instagrammable street! Made famous during World Cup, where people congregated to dance and spontaneous celebrate World Cup victories. It's a pedestrian only street with millions of lights suspended over the sidewalk. At night, it's an impressive site as well, as it's all lit up. So plan to visit twice, just to get day and evening photos.

GUM - State Department Store

At night, GUM (pronounced goom ), the former State Department Store, converted to an upscale mall is fully lit up. The outline of each doorway and window has clear lights that emphasis the beauty of the building. In front of GUM, It's the other iconic part of Red Square. Of course, the famous St Basils Cathedral is also lit up. The bright onion domes look different at night, I always can't get enough of this old cathedral.

Moscow at night, St Basils and the Kremlin

Moskva Reka - Moscow River at Night

If you want to see the Moscow River at night, it's best to take a river cruise. That way you enjoy all the sights of Moscow along the river. However, I waited until after midnight to film the view of the Kremlin from the other side of the Moscow River. Much of the city traffic had died down, and the city had a quiet hum. Crossing the bridge to Sofiyskaya Embankment provides the best views of Kremlin, the cathedrals and the famous towers. The river cruise went too quickly, and when walking, you can take it at your own pace, taking lots of photos along the way. An ancient Kremlin is a beautiful sight at night.

Moscow River and Kremlin at Night

These are iconic photos that you have to see. I love seeing Moscow at night, all lit up and full of life. This is not the old grey Soviet town you might be expecting, at least not the favorite tourist traps you need to visit!

Ratings and reviews

Location and contact.

Just an average restaurant. Nothing special, just the views. A lemonades and cocktails were spectacular while bistroganoff came out room temperature and super salty. Pizza, fish, and buratta were okay. We had a ten year old kid with us and you should of see her... disappointed face when she ordered two ice cream 🍨 balls. The server brought her two tiny little drops of ice cream. Seriously, they were really 1/3 of the size of a regular ice cream scoop🤷🏽‍♀️. More

Came to birds late night for drinks & dinner! Fantastic atmosphere, really good service and also good food. We had a blast, thank you!

disney cruise pirate night menu

It's ridiculous for this type of restaurant/club that they don't accept credit card! The service is tipically Russian (bad) - waiters force you to order more and drink more and more. On the other hand, the atmosphere is good.

My boyfriend and I celebrated my birthday there. Well, the story started with the fact that my partner who does not speak Russian fluently could not book a table by calling them since NO ONE! at the reception spoke English/French/German or any other language. His... requests to speak slowly and clearly so he could try to converse in that little Russian he could were ignored, and the lady on the line was laughing instead of providing help in this very embarrassing situation. Later on, after waiting for 10 minutes for someone who reportedly could handle his inquiry he had to hang up as nobody picked up the phone. So in the end he had to open Google Translate and simply read his speech out. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ The place itself claims to be posh and fancy with gold decorations, feathers and pink lights everywhere. I personally found it cheap and tasteless, but okay, tastes differ. The music (let's be fair, pretty nasty pop music) was too loud, so we could barely speak at the table. Plus I had a strong impression that most of their customers had come there just to post on the Gram that they can afford a dinner in the neighborhood. The quality of the food however - at this price at least - was disputable. The seafood was really great, as well as sushi. Salads and mains were fairly very average. Whenever we asked the waiter for advice, he would always advertise the most expensive item in this or that section of the menu, that was pretty obvious. By the way, beware of the lady in a white gown selling flowers in the restaurant. You know, the one who puts men to shame when they refuse to buy a bouquet for their girlfriend or spouse at an indecent price. Can you imagine that in any Michelin place? Neither can I. Finally, the waiter who wasn't particularly nice or helpful mentioned "Please pay attention that the service fee is not included". Excuse me? Since when are we forced in this country to leave a tip? I know it might function differently in other places, but definitely not in Russia. Of course we knew that we could leave a tip if we wanted to express appreciation to the waiter or the chef, but after he had literally said this, and in this intrusive manner, we totally changed our mind and didn't leave tips at all as a matter of principle. Believe me, we normally do. But that was not the case. Oh sorry, I forgot about the bouncers at the entrance who asked me to open my very tiny purse despite it could obviously fit in a phone and a few cards. They checked the inside and asked me what was in the 10*5cm box. These were blotting papers actually, girls will understand. To my question "Why?" they answered "If it is chocolate, we have to take it. You can't bring your food and drinks". 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ More

Discriminating and uppity behaviour !! So we were not informed about any dress code at the time of reservation!! Thankfully we were dressed for the club .. but at the entrance were questioned for the reservation which they finally got after so much perusal .... Then we were told our footwear was not in the appropriate dress code .. so rather than refusing us entry ( which would be a lost customer ) they did us a " favour "and seated us at some corner not even inside the club ! We were naive enough to believe the footwear excuse till we saw some 2/3 people enter in sneakers and similar footwear . I would strongly urge tourists to stay away as this club only happy with locals I guess .. and we certainly got a racist vibe .. NOT recommended for tourists !! More

I wanted to check-out Birds during my Moscow visit last weekend but it was simply IMPOSSIBLE to make a reservation due to the incompetence of the customer service staff. I called a week in advance to make a reservation for Saturday evening for a dinner... for 5 people. The following issues occurred: - NO English speaking customer service. It’s not possible to get someone on the phone who speaks English in order to make a reservation. The girl I had on the phone wanted to connect me to an English speaking agent but that agent hang up each time the connection was established and I started talking in English. I called around 6-7 times during two days and it was the same scenario every time. - Then I let my Russian speaking colleague call and she left my number and was promised that a manager who speaks English would call me in order to make the reservation but guess what, I never received a call from anyone! - After a few days my colleague called again and tried to reserve the table for me. She was told that you have to leave a pre-deposit of 1000 RUB per person in oder to get a table with a nice view next to the window. Without a pre-deposit they cannot promise you a table. But as a foreigner you cannot make any pre-deposit as you need a Russian bank card for that. My colleague was promised to receive a call from a customer service staff who can make deposits for foreigners but of course nobody ever called! At the end of the day we went to Sixty instead which is located on the 62nd floor of the Federation Tower. It’s not the highest restaurant and club in the world but at least it’s possible to get a table and in Sixty you get an AMAZING view over Moscow! I suggest Birds improves the competence, reliability and friendliness of it’s customer service and makes sure that it’s staff speaks English and foreign customers get a chance to make a reservation. Dear 603ninaw, we apologize for the inconvenience. Glad to see you again! Regards, Team 354 Exclusive height.

Birds is a restaurant club that you should absolutely visit when you are in Moscow especially if you have something to celebrate like your birthday. It is a fun place with a sort of a show going on whilst you are dining, ladies dressed as... birds with gorgeous feathers walk around the restaurant. There is a singer, a guitarist and a very good host who directs all of that. The food is very nice and fresh, the sea orchins and prawn carpaccio were excellent. The service was very attentive and professional. Too good to be true? It is quite expensive in the sense that there is a minimum spend per head of 20,000 roubles and you have to pay a deposit when you reserve your table. Later on in the evening, people start dancing around their tables and a mini dance floor is created. The concept is new, the bar is full of nice ladies having a drink... It is also apparently the highest restaurant club in the world situated on the 84th floor of the OKO tower so the view is staggering. More

The bar is on the 84th floor of a skyscraper and 354 m high. You must go with reservation. On the lobby floor, at the entrance to the club there are many luxury vehicles and bodyguars. There are ladies in topmodel beauty. The smoking room... is absolutely perfect. The food and entertainment is very nice. Prices are expensive and credit cards are not used. You should pay everything in cash. You must see such an environment once. More

Nice classy place, amazing atmosphere, food and drinks are good, but over priced, live music is playing all the time, you need to book it in advance, the stuff doesn't speak English unfortunately

The Comprehensive Guide to Moscow Nightlife

Moscow’s nightlife scene is thriving, and arguably one of the best the world has to offer – top-notch Russian women, coupled with a never-ending list of venues, Moscow has a little bit of something for everyone’s taste. Moscow nightlife is not for the faint of heart – and if you’re coming, you better be ready to go Friday and Saturday night into the early morning.

This comprehensive guide to Moscow nightlife will run you through the nuts and bolts of all you need to know about Moscow’s nightclubs and give you a solid blueprint to operate with during your time in Moscow.

What you need to know before hitting Moscow nightclubs

Prices in moscow nightlife.

Before you head out and start gaming all the sexy Moscow girls , we have to talk money first. Bring plenty because in Moscow you can never bring a big enough bankroll. Remember, you’re the man so making a fuzz of not paying a drink here or there will not go down well.

Luckily most Moscow clubs don’t do cover fees. Some electro clubs will charge 15-20$, depending on their lineup. There’s the odd club with a minimum spend of 20-30$, which you’ll drop on drinks easily. By and large, you can scope out the venues for free, which is a big plus.

Bottle service is a great deal in Moscow. At top-tier clubs, it starts at 1,000$. That’ll go a long way with premium vodka at 250$, especially if you have three or four guys chipping in. Not to mention that it’s a massive status boost for getting girls, especially at high-end clubs.

Without bottle service, you should estimate a budget of 100-150$ per night. That is if you drink a lot and hit the top clubs with the hottest girls. Scale down for less alcohol and more basic places.

Dress code & Face control

Door policy in Moscow is called “face control” and it’s always the guy behind the two gorillas that gives the green light if you’re in or out.

In Moscow nightlife there’s only one rule when it comes to dress codes:

You can never be underdressed.

People dress A LOT sharper than, say, in the US and that goes for both sexes. For high-end clubs, you definitely want to roll with a sharp blazer and a pocket square, not to mention dress shoes in tip-top condition. Those are the minimum requirements to level the playing field vis a vis with other sharply dressed guys that have a lot more money than you do. Unless you plan to hit explicit electro or underground clubs, which have their own dress code, you are always on the money with that style.

Getting in a Moscow club isn’t as hard as it seems: dress sharp, speak English at the door and look like you’re in the mood to spend all that money that you supposedly have (even if you don’t). That will open almost any door in Moscow’s nightlife for you.

Types of Moscow Nightclubs

In Moscow there are four types of clubs with the accompanying female clientele:

High-end clubs:

These are often crossovers between restaurants and clubs with lots of tables and very little space to dance. Heavy accent on bottle service most of the time but you can work the room from the bar as well. The hottest and most expensive girls in Moscow go there. Bring deep pockets and lots of self-confidence and you have a shot at swooping them.

Regular Mid-level clubs:

They probably resemble more what you’re used to in a nightclub: big dancefloors, stages and more space to roam around. Bottle service will make you stand out more but you can also do well without. You can find all types of girls but most will be in the 6-8 range. Your targets should always be the girls drinking and ideally in pairs. It’s impossible not to swoop if your game is at least half-decent.

Basic clubs/dive bars:

Usually spots with very cheap booze and lax face control. If you’re dressed too sharp and speak no Russian, you might attract the wrong type of attention so be vigilant. If you know the local scene you can swoop 6s and 7s almost at will. Usually students and girls from the suburbs.

Electro/underground clubs:

Home of the hipsters and creatives. Parties there don’t mean meeting girls and getting drunk but doing pills and spacing out to the music. Lots of attractive hipster girls if that is your niche. That is its own scene with a different dress code as well.

disney cruise pirate night menu

What time to go out in Moscow

Moscow nightlife starts late. Don’t show up at bars and preparty spots before 11pm because you’ll feel fairly alone. Peak time is between 1am and 3am. That is also the time of Moscow nightlife’s biggest nuisance: concerts by artists you won’t know and who only distract your girls from drinking and being gamed. From 4am to 6am the regular clubs are emptying out but plenty of people, women included, still hit up one of the many afterparty clubs. Those last till well past 10am.

As far as days go: Fridays and Saturdays are peak days. Thursday is an OK day, all other days are fairly weak and you have to know the right venues.

The Ultimate Moscow Nightclub List

Short disclaimer: I didn’t add basic and electro clubs since you’re coming for the girls, not for the music. This list will give you more options than you’ll be able to handle on a weekend.

Preparty – start here at 11PM

Classic restaurant club with lots of tables and a smallish bar and dancefloor. Come here between 11pm and 12am when the concert is over and they start with the actual party. Even early in the night tons of sexy women here, who lean slightly older (25 and up).

The second floor of the Ugolek restaurant is an extra bar with dim lights and house music tunes. Very small and cozy with a slight hipster vibe but generally draws plenty of attractive women too. A bit slower vibe than Valenok.

Very cool, spread-out venue that has a modern library theme. Not always full with people but when it is, it’s brimming with top-tier women. Slow vibe here and better for grabbing contacts and moving on.

disney cruise pirate night menu

High-end: err on the side of being too early rather than too late because of face control.

Secret Room

Probably the top venue at the moment in Moscow . Very small but wildly popular club, which is crammed with tables but always packed. They do parties on Thursdays and Sundays as well. This club has a hip-hop/high-end theme, meaning most girls are gold diggers, IG models, and tattooed hip hop chicks. Very unfavorable logistics because there is almost no room no move inside the club but the party vibe makes it worth it. Strict face control.

Close to Secret Room and with a much more favorable and spacious three-part layout. This place attracts very hot women but also lots of ball busters and fakes that will leave you blue-balled. Come early because after 4am it starts getting empty fast. Electronic music.

A slightly kitsch restaurant club that plays Russian pop and is full of gold diggers, semi-pros, and men from the Caucasus republics. Thursday is the strongest night but that dynamic might be changing since Secret Room opened its doors. You can swoop here but it will be a struggle.

Mid-level: your sweet spot in terms of ease and attractiveness of girls for an average budget.

Started going downwards in 2018 due to lax face control and this might get even worse with the World Cup. In terms of layout one of the best Moscow nightclubs because it’s very big and bottle service gives you a good edge here. Still attracts lots of cute girls with loose morals but plenty of provincial girls (and guys) as well. Swooping is fairly easy here.

I haven’t been at this place in over a year, ever since it started becoming ground zero for drunken teenagers. Similar clientele to Icon but less chic, younger and drunker. Decent mainstream music that attracts plenty of tourists. Girls are easy here as well.

Sort of a Coyote Ugly (the real one in Moscow sucks) with party music and lots of drunken people licking each others’ faces. Very entertaining with the right amount of alcohol and very easy to pull in there. Don’t think about staying sober in here, you’ll hate it.

Artel Bessonitsa/Shakti Terrace

Electronic music club that is sort of a high-end place with an underground clientele and located between the teenager clubs Icon and Gipsy. Very good music but a bit all over the place with their vibe and their branding. You can swoop almost any type of girl here from high-heeled beauty to coked-up hipsters, provided they’re not too sober.

Afterparty: if by 5AM  you haven’t pulled, it’s time to move here.

Best afterparty spot in terms of trying to get girls. Pretty much no one is sober in there and savage gorilla game goes a long way. Lots of very hot and slutty-looking girls but it can be hard to tell apart who is looking for dick and who is just on drugs but not interested. If by 9-10am you haven’t pulled, it is probably better to surrender.

The hipster alternative for afterparties, where even more drugs are in play. Plenty of attractive girls there but you have to know how to work this type of club. A nicer atmosphere and better music but if you’re desperate to pull, you’ll probably go to Miks.

Weekday jokers: if you’re on the hunt for some sexy Russian girls during the week, here are two tips to make your life easier.

Chesterfield

Ladies night on Wednesdays means this place gets pretty packed with smashed teenagers and 6s and 7s. Don’t pull out the three-piece suit in here because it’s a “simpler” crowd. Definitely your best shot on Wednesdays.

If you haven’t pulled at Chesterfield, you can throw a Hail Mary and hit up Garage’s Black Music Wednesdays. Fills up really late but there are some cute Black Music groupies in here. Very small club. Thursday through Saturday they do afterparties and you have an excellent shot and swooping girls that are probably high.

Shishas Sferum

This is pretty much your only shot on Mondays and Tuesdays because they offer free or almost free drinks for women. A fairly low-class club where you should watch your drinks. As always the case in Moscow, there will be cute girls here on any day of the week but it’s nowhere near as good as on the weekend.

In a nutshell, that is all you need to know about where to meet Moscow girls in nightlife. There are tons of options, and it all depends on what best fits your style, based on the type of girls that you’re looking for.

Jerry Bruckheimer; 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'

Jerry Bruckheimer revealed that the next installment of Pirates of the Caribbean will be a reboot of the beloved franchise.

The legendary producer said in a recent interview with ComicBook.com that they’re working on a Pirates of the Caribbean sequel as well as Top Gun 3 , but noted that the latter is going to take longer to develop since it involves coordinating schedules with several A-list actors, such as Tom Cruise, Miles Teller and Glen Powell.

Disney seemingly starting from scratch with Pirates may come as a surprise to some fans, as there have already been ideas swirling in recent years about the franchise’s future — some that involve Margot Robbie and others that see Johnny Depp returning.

Bruckheimer previously told The Hollywood Reporter in 2022 that they were “getting very close” with Pirates 6 and even had a “very good script.”

“We developed two of them — the one with Margot Robbie and one with a younger cast,” he said at the time. “The Margot Robbie one needs a little more work. The younger cast one is close. Hopefully we’ll get both of them.”

The producer also shut down Robbie’s claims that the project wasn’t happening , saying, “We believe we’ll get it made. It’s a very strong story.”

Elsewhere in the interview with THR , Bruckheimer added he “would love to have” Depp in another movie.

However, it appears the next Pirates project to hit the big screen will likely feature an all-new cast. The Last of Us  creator Craig Mazin, who worked on the new story with screenwriter Ted Elliott, told the Los Angeles Times last year that he was surprised Disney liked their script because it was “too weird.”

“We pitched it and thought there’s no way they’re buying it, it’s too weird. And they did! And then we wrote a fantastic script and the strike happened and everyone’s waiting around,” Mazin explained at the time.
