Mega plans for PM's Nizamabad meet

pm modi visit nizamabad

Nizamabad : The BJP is planning to mobilise two lakh people for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public meeting in Nizamabad on October 3. This would be Narendra Modi’s second visit to Nizamabad. He visited the city for the first time during the 2014 general elections.

BJP state president G. Kishan Reddy visited Nizamabad on Tuesday and interacted with party leaders on arrangements to be made for the public meeting at Government Giriraj Degree college grounds in Nizamabad.

He directed the party leaders and in-charges to coordinate and work for making the meeting a grand success. Leaders from Nizamabad urban, Nizamabad rural, Armoor, Balkonda, Bodhan, Banswada, Jukkal, Yellareddy, Kamareddy, Korutla, Jagtial, Nirmal and Mudhole Assembly constituencies attended the meeting.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle , BJP state general secretary G. Premender Reddy said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national leadership are committed to the development of Telangana state. During the Prime Minister's visit to Mahabubnagar on October 1 and Nizamabad on October 3, he is expected to announce developmental activities. “We are hopeful that the Modi meeting will be a game changer in Telangana politics,” he said.

Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind became instrumental in finalising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting in Nizamabad. BJP scores believed that Modi will give a clarity on Turmeric Board and other key issues that concern northern districts of Telangana.

PM Modi’s Telangana visit to support BRS, split anti-incumbency vote: Congress chief Revanth Reddy

Pm modi is addressing meetings at mahabubnagar and nizamabad, where the congress is strong, on the request of chief minister k chandrashekar rao, said revanth reddy..

pm modi visit nizamabad

A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Telangana’s Mahabubnagar and on the eve of his subsequent visit to Nizamabad, Telangana Congress chief A Revanth Reddy Monday alleged a grand conspiracy by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to split the anti-incumbency vote and thereby support the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). The TPCC president asked why the PM was silent on the alleged corruption by the ruling party’s first family.

According to him, the BJP has taken “protection money” from the BRS and has no right to seek votes in Telangana. “It is on the request of KCR (Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao) that PM Modi is addressing meetings at Mahabubnagar and Nizamabad, where the Congress is strong, just to divide the anti-incumbency votes… The BRS and AIMIM (All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen) are two eyes of PM Modi,” Reddy alleged during a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan.

pm modi visit nizamabad

During his Mahabubnagar tour on Sunday, PM Modi launched projects worth Rs 13,000 crore, and during his Nizamabad tour on Tuesday, he is expected to announce the launch of projects worth Rs 8,000 crore. Telangana is due for Assembly Elections in November or December. With a team from the Election Commission of India set to visit the state for a three-day tour starting October 3, the election notification is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Reddy pointed to a toned-down speech of the PM to suggest a ‘dark deal’ between the BJP and the BRS. “Why didn’t Modi talk about family robbery? He failed to give any assurance to the people of Telangana to expose KCR’s corruption. The BJP and the BRS are one. Modi’s visit is only to divide the Opposition’s votes and ensure victory for the BRS.”

He added that the cost involved in the PM’s visit to Mahabubnagar was enough to develop Palamuru. “Instead of announcing the national status for the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, the Turmeric Board was announced for Nizamabad as if it was something new.

Festive offer

Reddy added that the Turmeric Board and Tribal University were assurances given in the past. “We hoped that the ITIR corridor would be restored. We hoped the Bayyaram steel plant and the assurances made in the AP Reorganisation Act would be implemented. We hoped steps would be taken to provide employment opportunities to Telangana. The PM did not mention any of these,” he added.

PM Modi to Inaugurate Development Projects in Telangana's Nizamabad

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Nizamabad in Telangana on Tuesday, where he will inaugurate a series of crucial development projects and address a public meeting organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

During his visit, PM Modi is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various development projects with an estimated worth of around Rs 8,000 crore, according to an official release. Among the key projects, he will inaugurate the first 800 MW unit of Phase 1 of the Telangana Super Thermal Power Project developed by NTPC. This power plant is expected to provide cost-effective electricity to the state, thereby contributing significantly to its economic growth. The project is also noteworthy for its environmental compliance and adherence to strict environmental standards, making it one of the most eco-friendly power stations in the nation.

In addition to the power project, PM Modi will also boost the state's rail infrastructure by inaugurating key rail projects. These include the new rail line connecting Manoharabad and Siddipet, as well as the electrification projects for the Dharmabad-Manoharabad and Mahabubnagar-Kurnool rail lines.

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for 20 critical care blocks under the Pradhan Mantri - Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. This initiative is aimed at strengthening the health infrastructure in Telangana and providing improved healthcare access to the citizens.

Abhishek Banerjee-Led TMC Protest at Jantar Mantar Over MGNREGA Funds

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee has announced a protest at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, with the participation of 3.5 thousand job cardholders. The demonstration aims to draw attention to the delayed disbursement of funds to MGNREGA job cardholders, some of whom have been awaiting payment for over two years.

TMC leaders and supporters are preparing for the protest at Jantar Mantar, armed with letters addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the non-payment of dues. They assert that they have gathered over 50 lakh such letters from West Bengal and intend to present letters from other BJP-ruled states as well. The focus of their protest centers on allegations of corruption in central schemes, as reported by PTI sources.

Supreme Court to Hear Chandrababu Naidu's Plea on Skill Development Corporation Scam

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a plea filed by TDP (Telugu Desam Party) leader N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday, PTI reported. Naidu's plea challenges the Andhra Pradesh High Court's order, which dismissed his petition seeking the quashing of an FIR filed against him in connection with an alleged scam related to the Skill Development Corporation.

A bench comprising justices Aniruddha Bose and Bela M Trivedi will preside over the hearing on Tuesday. In a previous ruling, the Supreme Court had declined to restrain the trial court from proceeding with a plea seeking police custody of Naidu. It was announced that a new bench would hear Naidu's petition for the quashing of the FIR linked to the alleged Rs 371 crore scam in the state.

The case revolves around allegations that Naidu, during his tenure as Chief Minister in 2015, misappropriated funds from the Skill Development Corporation, resulting in a purported loss of Rs 371 crore to the state exchequer. The trial court has extended Naidu's judicial remand until October 5, as the legal proceedings continue.

Naidu's plea and the subsequent court proceedings have drawn significant attention, underscoring the importance of accountability and transparency in governance.

PM Modi Announces Formation Of National Turmeric Board During Telangana Visit

India is a major producer, consumer and exporter of turmeric.

Fulfilling long-pending demands from turmeric farmers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Telangana, on Sunday announced the formation of a National Turmeric Board.

"After Covid, awareness about turmeric has increased and global demand has also increased. Today it is important to pay more attention professionally and take an initiative in the value chain of turmeric, from production to export... Looking at the necessity of turmeric farmers and future opportunities, the centre has decided to establish a National Turmeric Board," PM Modi said addressing a gathering in the state's Mahabubnagar.

Farmers in Telangana particularly produce turmeric in huge quantities. Nizamabad, Nirmal and Jagtial districts are known for their huge cultivation of turmeric. The finger and bulb varieties of turmeric from here are exported abroad apart from catering to domestic and commercial needs.

Besides for turmeric, there are boards for tea, coffee, spices, jute, coconut, among others. These boards help farmers market their produce, besides looking after their other needs.

In poll-bound southern state of Telangana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has today dedicated and laid the foundation stone of multiple developmental projects worth more than Rs 13,500 crore, in important sectors like road, rail, petroleum and natural gas and higher education.

During the programme, Prime Minister also flagged off a train service -- Hyderabad (Kacheguda) - Raichur - Hyderabad (Kacheguda) train service from Krishna station -- through video conferencing. The train service will connect Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet districts in Telangana with Raichur district in Karnataka. The service will provide first-time rail connectivity to several new areas in backward districts of Mahabubnagar and Narayanpet, benefiting students, daily commuters, labourers, and local handloom industry in the region.

Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of key road projects that are part of Nagpur - Vijayawada Economic Corridor. The projects include - 108 km long 'four lane access controlled Greenfield highway from Warangal to Khammam section of NH-163G' and 90 km long 'four lane access controlled greenfield highway from Khammam to Vijayawada section of NH-163G. These road projects will be developed at a total cost of about Rs 6400 crore.

The projects will reduce travel distance between Warangal and Khammam by about 14 km; and between Khammam and Vijayawada by about 27 km.

"The season of festivals has started. Navratri is about to begin but by passing the Women's Reservation Bill in the Parliament, we established the emotion of worshipping 'Shakti' before it... Today, in Telangana, many projects are launched... I congratulate Telangana for the projects worth Rs. 13,500 crore... Many such road connectivity projects have been launched which will bring huge changes in the lives of people... Through the Nagpur-Vijayawada corridor, the commute to Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra is going to get convenient. Because of this, in these three states trade, tourism and industry would be boosted," PM Modi said addressing the gathering.

PM Modi also dedicated to the nation a road project - 'four laning of 59 km long Suryapet to Khammam section of NH-365BB'. Built at a cost of about Rs 2,460 crore, the project is a part of Hyderabad - Visakhapatnam Corridor and is developed under Bharatmala Pariyojana. It will also provide better connectivity to Khammam district and coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh.

During the visit, Prime Minister also dedicated '37 km of Jaklair - Krishna New Railway Line'. Built at a cost of more than Rs 500 crore, the new rail line section brings areas of the backward district of Narayanpet for the first time onto the Railway Map.

Also, foundation stone and dedication to the nation of important oil and gas pipeline projects were done during the programme. Prime Minister dedicated to nation 'Hassan-Cherlapalli LPG Pipeline Project'. Built at a cost of about Rs 2170 crore, the LPG pipeline, from Hassan in Karnataka to Cherlapalli (suburb of Hyderabad), provides a safe, cost-efficient, and eco-friendly mode of LPG transportation and distribution in the region.

Foundation stone of 'Multi- Product Petroleum Pipeline of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) from Krishnapatnam to Hyderabad (Malkapur)' was laid. The 425 kilometre pipeline will be built at a cost of Rs 1,940 crore. The pipeline will provide safe, faster, efficient and environment friendly mode of petroleum products in the region.

Prime Minister also inaugurated 'five new buildings of University of Hyderabad' i.e, School of Economics; School of Mathematics & Statistics; School of Management Studies; Lecture Hall Complex - III; and Sarojini Naidu School of Arts and Communication (Annexe). The upgradation of infrastructure at University of Hyderabad is a step towards providing improved facilities and amenities to the students and faculty.

The National Turmeric Board — a long-pending demand of the people of Northern Telangana — is all set to materialise.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, 1 October, announced the setting up of a Turmeric Board in the state, during his address in the Mahabubnagar district.

Turmeric, which is cultivated in large quantities in the northern districts of Nizamabad, Jagtial and Nirmal, makes up around one-fourth of the total production of the spice in the country.

Meanwhile, the strategic announcement by Modi is also expected to deliver electoral dividends for the BJP in the year-end Telangana Assembly elections, and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Speaking at the public meeting, Modi said the BJP was committed to improving the lives of the people of Telangana.

“Telangana wants change, because it wants a BJP government here,” Modi said, adding that the state wants a change because it does not want a corrupt government, but a transparent and honest one.

The “Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam” — the Women’s Reservation Bill — had been passed recently and now the voice of women would be strengthened more than before, not only in Parliament but in every state Assembly, the prime minister told the cheering crowd.

Long pending demand of farmers.

According to Lok Sabha data in 2021, Telangana produces 386.596 tonnes — the highest in the country — of turmeric every year, in 55.444 hectares of land.

Turmeric farmers, who are facing severe stress, have been demanding a board on the lines of the tobacco board. Farmers say a dedicated board would help in extension and marketing activities.

They are demanding as the farmers have no access to scientific input or extension support and they depend on the local seeds and varieties.

As most of the farmers are small and marginal with very small landholdings, they cannot afford any scientific management of their fields and crops.

During the meeting, he also virtually laid the foundation stone for several infrastructure projects and inaugurated others, in total worth more than ₹13,500 crore.

Modi is expected to participate in another rally in Nizamabad on 3 October.

The politics behind it.

During the 2019 Lok Sabha election, hundreds of farmers in the Nizamabad constituency contested as independent candidates as a sign of protest against BRS (then TRS) leader K Kavitha as she did not bring the Turmeric Board to the constituency.

In March 2019, the current Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharmapuri — the BJP candidate who defeated Kavitha in the aforementioned election — signed a written pledge with a non-judicial stamp pledging to get the board sanctioned by the Centre.

His associates distributed copies of the pledge throughout the turmeric-growing regions of Nizamabad. Senior BJP leaders including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Ram Madhav, also supported the pledge.

However, as recently as March 2023, the ministers in their various replies in the Lok Sabha had denied setting up any turmeric board in Nizamabad.

The argument was that since the Ministry of Commerce had established a regional office of the Spice Board in Nizamabad, it would serve the needs of turmeric farmers.

Now, with the announcement by the prime minister ahead of his visit to Nizamabad, the dreams of turmeric farmers have been realised.

Several development projects announced.

The prime minister laid the foundation stone for several developmental projects and inaugurated other finished structures, which add up to more than ₹13,500 crore via videoconferencing in the Mahabubnagar district.

In addition, the Union government is establishing a Central Tribal University in Mulugu district of Telangana at a cost of ₹900 crore, which would be named Samakka Sarakka Central Tribal University, the prime minister said after launching the projects.

This is also a long pending demand of the Telangana government.

The prime minister laid the foundation stone for key road projects that are part of the Nagpur-Vijayawada Economic Corridor, including the 108 km long four-lane access-controlled greenfield highway from Warangal to Khammam section of NH-163G and the 90 km-long four-lane access-controlled greenfield highway from Khammam to Vijayawada section of NH-163G.

These roads will be built at a total cost of about ₹6,400 crore, said a release.

Modi also inaugurated the newly four-laned 59 km long Suryapet to Khammam section of NH-365BB. Built at a cost of about ₹2,460 crore, it is a part of the Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam Corridor and is developed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana.

The jaklair-krishna railway line.

He also inaugurated a 37-km section of the Jaklair Krishna New Railway Line. Built at a cost of over ₹500 crore, the new rail line section brings areas of the backward district of Narayanpet for the first time onto the Railway map.

The Hassan-Cherlapalli LPG Pipeline Project, which is built at a cost of about ₹2,170 crore was also inaugurated on Sunday. The LPG pipeline, from Hassan in Karnataka to Cherlapalli (a suburb of Hyderabad), provides a safe, cost-efficient, and eco-friendly mode of LPG transportation and distribution in the region.

Additionally, Modi laid the foundation stone for the multi-product petroleum pipeline of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) from Krishnapatnam to Hyderabad (Malkapur). The 425-kilometre pipeline will be built at a cost of ₹1,940 crore.

Among the new structures inaugurated were five new buildings of Hyderabad University — School of Economics; School of Mathematics & Statistics; School of Management Studies; Lecture Hall Complex III; and Sarojini Naidu School of Arts & Communication (Annexe).

The PM also flagged off the Hyderabad (Kacheguda)-Raichur-Hyderabad (Kacheguda) train service from Krishna station via video conferencing. The train service will connect Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Mahabubnagar, and Narayanpet districts in Telangana with Raichur district in Karnataka.

Madras High Court allows PM Modi's roadshow in Coimbatore after state's no

The madras high court granted permission for prime minister narendra modi's roadshow in coimbatore, after the district authorities denied permission earlier today for the march 18 event..

Listen to Story

PM Modi's Coimbatore rally was scheduled on March 18.

  • Madras High Court grants permission for PM Modi's roadshow in Coimbatore
  • Permission initially denied by police due to security risks
  • March 18 roadshow is part of PM's South India tour ahead of elections

The Madras High Court on Friday granted permission for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's roadshow in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore, scheduled for March 18. Sources earlier said that the district police administration had refused to grant permission for the roadshow, citing various reasons, including security risks.

However, the court has directed the police to permit the roadshow, with certain conditions imposed.

"There shall be a direction to the police to grant the permission and necessary police protection by imposing reasonable conditions," the court said.

The court said that such conditions shall also include the route through which the roadshow will take place, the distance to be covered throughout the roadshow, and a restriction on the erection of flex boards during the event.

It also urged the party workers shall obey the conditions imposed by the police.

Reacting to the court's order, Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai said, "What has happened is not only shameful, but disgusting. Within 6 hours, we were able to get a positive order from the High Court. It shows the DMK’s one more failure to stop the PM’s roadshow in Tamil Nadu."

"We are glad the High Court rejected all the reasons cited by the police because it’s all very frivolous," he added.

The roadshow was part of PM Modi's South India tour ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The BJP had sought permission for a 3.6-kilometre roadshow in the industrial-textile city.

Security risks, the communal history of Coimbatore, and inconvenience for the general public, especially students, were some of the reasons earlier cited by police for denying the permission, sources had said.

The culminating point of the Prime Minister’s roadshow was RS Puram, which was one of the locations where the 1998 serial blasts had taken place.

Moreover, no political parties or groups were given permission for roadshows given the communally sensitive nature of Coimbatore, sources earlier said.
