Trip to Japan

Great organisation and planning of the trip. Gary at AK provided a real balance of down time and active time. The recommended guides were superb and helped us understand the culture and history of Japan much better. Logistic were great between Tokyo, Lake Hanoke, Takayama, Hiroshima, and Kyoto. Recommended hotels were great and two in particular were exceptional - Seiryu in Kyoto and Gora Karaku in Hakone. Will book again with AK.

Having provided an accurate view of my experience at the Yala National Park, they saw the review and wanted contact details. Thats what I thought. Still no response or taking responsibility. My tickets state" Tour Operated by Abercrombie & Kent Sri Lanka Pvt Ltd. I would steer away from this company as after sales is poor - They clearly only want your money and I suspect no-one from the company has even Quality assured the trip.

Awesome Cambodia!

We have just returned from a two-week trip to Cambodia organised by Gary Meynell, who could not have done a better job in tailoring every detail to meet our needs. All the hotels (in Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and Koh Rong) and the length of stays/excursions were absolutely spot on for us. This was our third holiday with A&K and we will continue to use and recommend them.

Really great proposal, modified to our suggestions, taking into account travel preferences, and a bill that reflects the quality of the anticipated experience. Trip of a Lifetime

This was truly a trip of a lifetime!!!! Jo, from A & K was amazing from the start. Jo phoned me and I outlined my requirements, dates, etc, and her knowledge and advice was brilliant. I went ahead with the booking and she did everything including booking flights, etc, which was seamless. Regarding Leopard Hills, the Lodge was beautiful, the food delicious and the game drives were spectacular! The Rangers and Trackers were so knowledgeable and I got to see so many animals from a tiny dung beetle beetling away to massive elephants casually walking past the vehicle. I went as a solo traveller and Leopard Hills could not have been more welcoming! Thank you Jo and Leopard Hills for a trip of a lifetime!

Disappointment

I chose A&K to organise our trip on the basis of the company's reputation and advertising. The on-site services were all excellent (except for one minor one). The preparation, on the other hand, was painful for two reasons: on the one hand, there was no advisory content, only process and the often late production of mostly useless documents full of mistakes, whereas I was expecting a dialogue with proposed choices and help with the decision; on the other hand, it was difficult to obtain quick answers on time and I had the impression of permanent procrastination which led me to have to make urgent calls to colleagues of the person I had been assigned. I wondered if the person who was managing the preparations knew anything about the countries I was going to visit. The A&K App system was never explained to me and my name and email address were misspelt. I inadvertently received internal exchanges that told me I was asking 'stupid' questions. Finally, I have never received any response to any form of transparency regarding the overall price and the breakdown between the various services, which is neither commercially acceptable given the amount involved, nor legally sustainable. At no time did an agent call me or come forward to ask me if the trip was going well (or had gone well). In short, I was disappointed: I was expecting personal service for the price, but all I got was robots at every stage. I'll be sure to mention this to my friends. As I fill in this form, I realise that I'm dealing with a robot again!

Generally things went well

Generally things went well. Our guide was experienced and tried hard to provide a good experience. We probably had one day too many in Petra and would have benefitted from an additional day on the Dead Sea. Hotels were generally pretty good. The Fairmont in Amman was exceptional. The Kempinski at the Dead Sea was very disappointing.

Trip to Egypt (Aswan to Luxor)

Trip to Egypt A&K came thoroughly recommended by the expat community in Cairo. My partner and I wanted, in four days, to gain a very broad overview of the history around Aswan and Luxor so that more focused trips could be planned in the future. Organised around existing holiday arrangements, Dora, our initial contact in A&K, suggested being driven and guided from Aswan to Luxor taking in sites of historical interest along the way and then spending two and a half further days in Luxor. Suffice to say that A&K exceeded expectations in all respects. From planning through to the holiday itself, nothing was ever too much trouble. Everything ran perfectly – tour facilitators and coordinators were there to ensure that drivers and guides were on time and correctly briefed. Vehicles were clean, tidy and safe and the drivers got us to our destinations punctually and without incident. On arrival at Cairo International Airport, we were met by Osam who saw us through the visa and immigration process with consummate ease. One week later our two guides – Yasser who guided us from Aswan to Luxor, and Abdullah who spent two very full days showing us around Luxor, made the trip all that it was – utterly fascinating and totally absorbing. A faultless service with exemplary guides made for a truly memorable trip. Thank you A&K.

Petra or Bust

We had a very challenging window for managing a trip - and A&K rose to the occasion - even negotiating when British Airways decided to cancel one leg. We made it; the trip was spectacular; and Harry was a star for sorting out flights in a timely fashion. The trip was to Jordan and the A&K in country staff could not have been more helpful and knowledgeable. We certainly will go back again to explore more.

The top of the top of our bucket list

Words cannot describe how fantastic our experience has been!! A&K were just amazing. We were given excellent advice about how to plan our safari trip to Tanzania, where to go, where to stay, what to expect, how to plan, what to bring. The guides were specular; friendly, knowledgeable, cautious and fun. Thank you George for being so flexible and kind with our children. The camps we stayed at were outstanding. We just did not want to leave. Proposing Zanzibar and the Baraza Resort was a splendid way to end the absolutely perfect holiday. Life memories, stunning locations, excellent food but most of all - memorable because of the people. Everyone at A&K just made it worth every penny!!! Thank you for everything you have done. Every detail, every step...just perfect.

Well organised.Excellent accommodation…

Well organised.Excellent accommodation and food in Cairo hotel and river cruise boat. Packed a lot in during a week. Would have been better as a ten day holiday, with more time to see sights in and around Luxor. Guides very good, although the one on the boat seemed anxious for a big tip!

A&K Trip to Cambodia

We are so pleased that Gary at A&K recommended a trip to Cambodia. Our experience was better than expected and I had high expectations! Specifically our guides Salon and Siem Reap and Sam in Phnom Penh deserve special mention. Their knowledge of the history and culture of this amazing country was faultless. The hotels were superb especially the Jaya House River park with daily massages included and laundry service!

A&K trip to Iceland

Great trip to Iceland. Very well planned ahead and our local guide was fantastic. The hotels were excellent and the activities were very varied (landscapes, adventure, relaxation, etc.). We did so much in one week that it felt like we were there for one month! We would recommend a more detailed explanation of what the activities entail to be better prepared (eg. some activities required a very good fitness level which was not the case for all of us, how many hours of car travel are required, and how long each activity is expected to take).

Fantastic Sri Lanka Family Holiday.

A&K organised a summer holiday for us in July/August 2023 to Sri Lanka. This was a fantastic two week experience. Our consultant in the UK Brandon recommended an itinerary that took us from West to East starting in Galle and everything was planned out meticulously. We had a great A&K guide (Ashok) from day one, the hotels were all boutique and exquisite (we particularly enjoyed the Ceylon Tea Trails property) and the cultural excursions (from temple visits, elephant safaris, etc.) were all appropriately planned. It was the right balance between fun and culture and our two teenage children had a blast. The country itself is of course beautiful and the people are very warm. I would highly recommend Sri Lanka & A&K. Maqbool Mohamed

A memorable trip to Vietnam.

We have just returned from a 10 day trip to Vietnam organised from start to finish by A&K. The organisation was perfect and we did not experience a single hitch throughout the holiday. The responsiveness of the UK team in the booking process was efficient and uncomplicated. The help on the ground in Vietnam was first class - special mention must go to our guides in Hanoi / Halong Bay (Lily) and Hoi An / Hue (Lien). The hotels were excellent even by Far East standards. We will definitely book future holidays through A&K.

Booking experience for honeymoon trip to Bhutan

Our booking experience with A&K has been mixed. In general, we were impressed with their ability to work with their local team in Bhutan over a very tight timeline to tailor the itinerary to meet our specific needs. The one big negative was a shock £700 last minute markup for making two local flight reservations from New Delhi into Paro. That was an unnecessary financial hit given the relatively low cost of the flights and left a bad taste which would impact my willingness to use them again given there are other alternatives in the market. Hopefully the honeymoon itself doesn’t come with other hidden surprises!

The preparation, on the other hand, was painful for two reasons: on the one hand, there was no advisory content, only process and the often late production of mostly useless documents full of mistakes, whereas I was expecting a dialogue with proposed choices and help with the decision; on the other hand, it was difficult to obtain quick answers on time and I had the impression of permanent procrastination which led me to have to make urgent calls to colleagues of the person I had been assigned. I wondered if the person who was managing the preparations knew anything about the countries I was going to visit. The A&K App system was never explained to me and my name and email address were misspelt. I inadvertently received internal exchanges that told me I was asking 'stupid' questions. Finally, I have never received any response to any form of transparency regarding the overall price and the breakdown between the various services, which is neither commercially acceptable given the amount involved, nor legally sustainable. At no time did an agent call me or come forward to ask me if the trip was going well (or had gone well). In short, I was disappointed: I was expecting personal service for the price, but all I got was robots at every stage. I'll be sure to mention this to my friends. As I fill in this form, I realise that I'm dealing with a robot again!

Generally things went well

Generally things went well. Our guide was experienced and tried hard to provide a good experience. We probably had one day too many in Petra and would have benefitted from an additional day on the Dead Sea. Hotels were generally pretty good. The Fairmont in Amman was exceptional. The Kempinski at the Dead Sea was very disappointing.

Trip to Egypt (Aswan to Luxor)

Trip to Egypt A&K came thoroughly recommended by the expat community in Cairo. My partner and I wanted, in four days, to gain a very broad overview of the history around Aswan and Luxor so that more focused trips could be planned in the future. Organised around existing holiday arrangements, Dora, our initial contact in A&K, suggested being driven and guided from Aswan to Luxor taking in sites of historical interest along the way and then spending two and a half further days in Luxor. Suffice to say that A&K exceeded expectations in all respects. From planning through to the holiday itself, nothing was ever too much trouble. Everything ran perfectly – tour facilitators and coordinators were there to ensure that drivers and guides were on time and correctly briefed. Vehicles were clean, tidy and safe and the drivers got us to our destinations punctually and without incident. On arrival at Cairo International Airport, we were met by Osam who saw us through the visa and immigration process with consummate ease. One week later our two guides – Yasser who guided us from Aswan to Luxor, and Abdullah who spent two very full days showing us around Luxor, made the trip all that it was – utterly fascinating and totally absorbing. A faultless service with exemplary guides made for a truly memorable trip. Thank you A&K.

Petra or Bust

We had a very challenging window for managing a trip - and A&K rose to the occasion - even negotiating when British Airways decided to cancel one leg. We made it; the trip was spectacular; and Harry was a star for sorting out flights in a timely fashion. The trip was to Jordan and the A&K in country staff could not have been more helpful and knowledgeable. We certainly will go back again to explore more.

The top of the top of our bucket list

Words cannot describe how fantastic our experience has been!! A&K were just amazing. We were given excellent advice about how to plan our safari trip to Tanzania, where to go, where to stay, what to expect, how to plan, what to bring. The guides were specular; friendly, knowledgeable, cautious and fun. Thank you George for being so flexible and kind with our children. The camps we stayed at were outstanding. We just did not want to leave. Proposing Zanzibar and the Baraza Resort was a splendid way to end the absolutely perfect holiday. Life memories, stunning locations, excellent food but most of all - memorable because of the people. Everyone at A&K just made it worth every penny!!! Thank you for everything you have done. Well organised.Excellent accommodation and food in Cairo hotel and river cruise boat. Packed a lot in during a week. Would have been better as a ten day holiday, with more time to see sights in and around Luxor. Guides very good, although the one on the boat seemed anxious for a big tip!

A&K Trip to Cambodia

We are so pleased that Gary at A&K recommended a trip to Cambodia. Our experience was better than expected and I had high expectations! Specifically our guides Salon and Siem Reap and Sam in Phnom Penh deserve special mention. Their knowledge of the history and culture of this amazing country was faultless. The hotels were superb especially the Jaya House River park with daily massages included and laundry service!

A&K trip to Iceland

Great trip to Iceland. Very well planned ahead and our local guide was fantastic. The hotels were excellent and the activities were very varied (landscapes, adventure, relaxation, etc.). We did so much in one week that it felt like we were there for one month! We would recommend a more detailed explanation of what the activities entail to be better prepared (eg. some activities required a very good fitness level which was not the case for all of us, how many hours of car travel are required, and how long each activity is expected to take).

Fantastic Sri Lanka Family Holiday.

A&K organised a summer holiday for us in July/August 2023 to Sri Lanka. This was a fantastic two week experience. Our consultant in the UK Brandon recommended an itinerary that took us from West to East starting in Galle and everything was planned out meticulously. We had a great A&K guide (Ashok) from day one, the hotels were all boutique and exquisite (we particularly enjoyed the Ceylon Tea Trails property) and the cultural excursions (from temple visits, elephant safaris, etc.) were all appropriately planned. It was the right balance between fun and culture and our two teenage children had a blast. The country itself is of course beautiful and the people are very warm. I would highly recommend Sri Lanka & A&K. Maqbool Mohamed

A memorable trip to Vietnam.

We have just returned from a 10 day trip to Vietnam organised from start to finish by A&K. The organisation was perfect and we did not experience a single hitch throughout the holiday. The responsiveness of the UK team in the booking process was efficient and uncomplicated. The help on the ground in Vietnam was first class - special mention must go to our guides in Hanoi / Halong Bay (Lily) and Hoi An / Hue (Lien). The hotels were excellent even by Far East standards. We will definitely book future holidays through A&K.

Booking experience for honeymoon trip to Bhutan

Our booking experience with A&K has been mixed. In general, we were impressed with their ability to work with their local team in Bhutan over a very tight timeline to tailor the itinerary to meet our specific needs. The one big negative was a shock £700 last minute markup for making two local flight reservations from New Delhi into Paro. That was an unnecessary financial hit given the relatively low cost of the flights and left a bad taste which would impact my willingness to use them again given there are other alternatives in the market. Hopefully the honeymoon itself doesn’t come with other hidden surprises!
