About Thomas Rhett

Ten years after signing his record deal with Big Machine Label Group’s The Valory Music Co., arena-packing superstar Thomas Rhett — dubbed “the most reliable maker of No. 1 singles in country music”  (Variety)  — has 19 multi-PLATINUM and GOLD-certified No. 1 hits, 12 BILLION streams and the longest current active streak of consecutive No. 1s in the format (Mediabase/Country Aircheck Chart). Declared “a prince in the genre”  (USA Today) , he has been honored with eight ACM Awards including Entertainer of the Year, two CMA Awards, five GRAMMY nominations, plus trophies from the CMT Music Awards,  Billboard Awards and iHeartRadio Awards, in addition to being recognized with two CMA Triple Play awards for penning three No. One songs within a 12-month period. The superstar’s critically-acclaimed sixth studio album WHERE WE STARTED is available now, with single “Half of Me,” featuring Riley Green, currently Top 5 at Country radio. Thomas Rhett has also just released his first-ever Christmas collection MERRY CHRISTMAS Y’ALL, featuring his rich vocal and sincere delivery, with a country flair on four favorite festive tracks.  Inspired by family, friends and his love of the outdoors, Thomas Rhett is also the cofounder of Dos Primos Tequila and has collaborated with Chaco on an exclusive sandal line. He recently extended his BRING THE BAR TO YOU TOUR into 2023 with dates scheduled for the top of next year in Canada. For more information, visit  www.ThomasRhett.com .

About Cole Swindell

Multi-Platinum selling superstar Cole Swindell released his fifth studio album,  Stereotype , to massive success. The project has already charted three back-to-back multi-week No. 1 hits: the Gold-certified “Single Saturday Night,” the Platinum-certified “Never Say Never” (with Lainey Wilson) and, most recently, the Platinum-certified, five-week chart-topper “She Had Me At Heads Carolina.” In the seven years since his debut on Warner Music Nashville, Swindell has racked up an impressive 12 No. 1 singles as an artist – 13 as a songwriter – 11 certified Platinum singles (four singles at 2x Platinum), a Platinum-certified debut album ( Cole Swindell ) and a Gold-certified sophomore album ( You Should Be Here ). The Georgia hitmaker has over 5.2 BILLION global career streams. His massive, GRAMMY-nominated hit “Break Up In The End” was named the 2019  NSAI Song of the Year . Swindell is nominated for two CMA Awards for  Musical Event of the Year  and  Music Video of the Year  for “Never Say Never” with Lainey Wilson. He officially became a headliner on his own in 2018 with his  Reason To Drink  Tours, and is currently out on the road with   Ashley Cooke and Dylan Marlowe for his  Back Down To The Bar Tour .

About Nate Smith

With a mix of gritty backwoods soul, rock ‘n’ roll swagger and velvet-thunder vocals, Nate Smith first chased his neon dreams to Nashville in his early 20s – but it didn’t stick. The disheartened Smith returned home and thought he was “100-percent done” with his artistic journey…until a crucible of change burned away the past. In 2018, Smith lost everything he owned in the devastating Camp Fire which tore through Paradise, California. Although his family was safe, he struggled to cope and turned back to music, hoping that it would help comfort himself and others. Help it did, inspiring a month-long road trip across the U.S. to Music City, writing music and playing dive bars along the way. Soon after his arrival to Nashville, Nate released his biggest song to date, “Wildfire,” and landed a publishing deal with Sony ATV. Since then, he’s released new music including “Sleeve” and “Under My Skin,” which has amassed over 70 million on-demand streams to date. The singer was named a Spotify Hot Country Artist to Watch for 2021 – an accurate prediction as he rounded out the year with a record deal with Sony Music Nashville and is now making waves with his latest release, “Whiskey On You,” which is now Gold-certified and Top 15 and climbing at country radio.

Thomas Rhett Announces Home Team Tour 23 Dates

Thomas Rhett has announced his tour plans for 2023. The country hitmaker will bring the Home Team Tour to 27 states from May through September. In total, he just put 40 new tour dates on his calendar.

Cole Swindell and " Whiskey on You " singer Nate Smith will open the Home Team 23 Tour. It kicks off on Des Moines, Iowa, on May 4 and criss-crosses the country before wrapping in Nashville on Sept. 29. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Nov. 11 at 10AM local time.

See a full list of Rhett's tour dates below.

In a video shared with fans, Rhett attempts to wear sports jerseys from all 40 cities he'll be visiting as he makes the announcement and answers questions during a mock press conference. Swindell and Smith make brief cameos, but video magic makes Rhett the exponential star of the show. He even wears a University of Tennessee jersey, which surely had to sting, as Rhett is a big University of Georgia fan.

The tour's name comes from Rhett's name for his fan community. In fact, it's at least the second Home Team Tour he's embarked on. In 2017 he brought Kelsea Ballerini and more along for a Home Team Tour that focused on the midwest and southeast.

Thomas Rhett talks Home Town Team Tour 23 kickoff in Des Moines

home team tour 23 tickets

Country star Thomas Rhett is kicking off his Home Team Tour 23 in Des Moines on Thursday.

The multi-platinum "Look What God Gave Her" hitmaker gave the metro area a spot on his massive U.S. tour's starting lineup due to the special place it holds in his heart. Rhett first came to Des Moines in 2013 as an opener for Jason Aldean and said he has enjoyed his frequent visits to the city.

"We loved the Midwest so much and we wanted to kick it off somewhere we knew," Rhett said.

His August 2018 performance to a sold-out Iowa State Fair Grandstand crowd of 15,775 audience members was the then-largest crowd the fair had seen in nearly 25 years. He returned in 2019 with his Very Hot Summer Tour at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Instagram-famous Tennessee native first rose to fame with a debut album "It Goes Like This" and then broke out later with mainstream success in Nashville by charting more than a baker's dozen of No. 1 singles. The "Marry Me" singer said fans will enjoy the tour setlist, which features little-known gems and his biggest hits alike.

“If you have been a fan of mine since 2012, you’re going to be in the crowd being like, ‘Oh my gosh. I can’t believe he just played that,'” Rhett said.

Close friend Cole Swindell and Nashville newcomer Nate Smith are set to join Rhett out on the road as opening acts. Rhett said Smith, the breakout star behind fan favorites "Whiskey on You" and "Wildfire," is one of his favorite new voices in Nashville "by far." But it's Swindell, a buddy and frequent collaborator, who made Rhett sentimental.

“The fact that we are still getting to tour together is a huge deal with me,” Rhett added of his tourmate.

Rhett, the son of singer-songwriter Rhett Akins, is a second-generation star in the genre. The family man and father of four daughters with his wife, Lauren, won't be joined by his family in the metro as his three oldest children finish up school in Nashville before heading out midsummer for dates across the country.

“As we have had a million kids ... three of them are in school now so I think we’re kind of waiting until the summertime until we bring them out on the road,” he said.

Rhett and his wife first fell in love in high school have known each other since elementary school. The couple have gained a dedicated following on social media platforms who leave double-tapped hearts on photos documenting their love story.

A decade after his first time performing at Wells Fargo Arena with a handful of hits, Rhett will do it again. On Thursday he returns as a headliner for the second time, standing before folks who’ve been there since the start.

“This tour is for people — obviously anybody is able to come — but we kind of dedicated this tour to the people who’ve been rocking with us for a decade,” he added.

Multi-Platinum entertainer Thomas Rhett will join the Home Teams of 40 cities next summer, today revealing US tour dates for his HOME TEAM TOUR 23, produced by Live Nation, presented by Dos Primos Tequila and Fueled by Marathon. Known for his "bombastic, good time energy” (Esquire), after kicking off 2023 in Canada, the summer tour will begin May 4 in Des Moines, IA at Wells Fargo Arena with Cole Swindell and Nate Smith, and end at Thomas Rhett’s hometown Nashville, TN, at Bridgestone Arena on September 23, 2023.

The singer was named a Spotify Hot Country Artist to Watch for 2021 – an accurate prediction as he rounded out the year with a record deal with Sony Music Nashville and is now making waves with his latest release, "Whiskey On You," which is now Gold-certified and Top 15 and climbing at country radio.

Mark Pope Named Head Coach of Kentucky Men’s Basketball

LEXINGTON, Ky. – When his alma mater came calling, Mark Pope knew there was no place like home.

Pope, a captain of the University of Kentucky’s 1996 National Championship team, has returned to Lexington as the 23rd head coach of Kentucky’s storied men’s basketball program, UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart announced Friday.

Pope is a nine-year head coaching veteran with stops at BYU and Utah Valley, amassing a 187-108 career record. His squads won 20 or more games in six of the last seven seasons and he has made six postseason appearances.

“Mark Pope not only brings an impressive record in nine years as a head coach, but also a love of the University of Kentucky and a complete understanding of what our program means to the people of our state,” Barnhart said. “As a captain on the ‘96 championship team, Mark was a beloved and respected teammate. As a head coach, he is highly regarded nationally as an innovator. His teams run a unique and dynamic up-tempo offense and they get after it on defense. He is a strong recruiter with international ties and a person of integrity.

“He fully embraces our high expectations and standards and I know that as our fans get reacquainted with Mark, they will be eager to join him on what promises to be an exciting ride.”

Pope returns to UK from Provo, Utah, where he compiled a 110-52 record (.679) during five campaigns at the helm of BYU. He took the Cougars to three postseason appearances, including two trips to the NCAA Tournament, and missed another bid when the 2020 event was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Three of his five BYU teams finished the season ranked in the top 20 of the Ken Pomeroy efficiency ratings.

“The University of Kentucky is the pinnacle of coaching in college basketball. It’s the definition of blueblood program where hanging a banner is the expectation ever year,” Pope said. “Equally as important, UK changed my life forever as a human being. The love and passion I have for this program, this University and the people of the Commonwealth goes to the depth of my soul.

“I’m thankful to Dr. (Eli) Capilouto and Mitch Barnhart for this opportunity. I’m proud to be your next head coach and I can’t wait to do this together!”

Pope is coming off a 23-11 season in 2023-24. It was BYU’s first season in the Big 12 Conference and the Cougars’ 10-8 league record featured victories over No. 7 Kansas, No. 11 Baylor and No. 24 Iowa State. BYU’s first win in the Big 12, on January 13 at Central Florida, also marked Pope’s 100th victory as head coach of the Cougars.

The Cougars ranked third in the country with 11.1 made 3-pointers per game in 2023-24, and also ranked in the top 10 in assists per game (3rd) and assist-to-turnover ratio (6th). BYU led the Big 12 in scoring at 81.4 points per game. They were ranked as high as No. 12 in the AP Poll after going 12-1 in nonconference action, winning the Vegas Showdown, BYU’s first multi-team event title since 2011. Pope was named to the 2024 Naismith College Coach of the Year Late Season Watch List for his efforts.

Pope’s teams also hit the postseason in 2020-21, finishing with a 20-7 mark and making BYU’s first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2015. The Cougars were 24-11 in 2021-22 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the National Invitation Tournament. The Cougars captured win No. 60 under Pope in January of ‘22, making him the fastest BYU coach to achieve the mark.

Pope began his head coaching stint at BYU in the 2019-20 season, tallying a 24-8 record, the most wins for a first-year coach in program history. He finished the season ranked No. 18 in the Associated Press poll and No. 16 in the USA Today/Coaches poll, becoming the first head coach at BYU to conclude the season with a national ranking in his first season. The Cougars finished second in the West Coast Conference with a 13-3 record. The Cougars also toppled No. 2-ranked Gonzaga, earning their best win over a ranked opponent inside their home venue in program history. The Covid pandemic prevented an almost-certain bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Pope’s Cougars were statistically among the top offenses in the nation in ’19-20. The Cougars finished the season ranked first in 3-point field goal percentage, second in assist-to-turnover ratio, third in field-goal percentage, fourth in 3-point field goals per game and fifth in assists per game.

Following his first season with the Cougars, Matt Norlander of CBS tabbed Pope as the best hire of the year. He was also awarded with the United States Basketball Writers Association District VIII Coach of the Year honor. He was a semifinalist for the Werner Ladder Naismith Coach of the Year.

Pope’s first head coaching stint was a four-year term at Utah Valley. Beginning in 2015-16, the Wolverines increased their win total during every season of Pope’s tenure, culminating in a 25-10 overall mark and a runner-up finish in the Western Athletic Conference in 2018-19. Utah Valley was 30-2 at home from 2017-19, and the 25 wins in 2019 were a single-season school record.

He began his collegiate playing career at the University of Washington, where he was tabbed the 1992 Pac-10 Freshman of the Year. After his sophomore season, he transferred to Kentucky, where he appeared in every game of his two-year career with the Wildcats. UK won the 1995 and ‘96 regular-season Southeastern Conference championships, the ’95 SEC Tournament title and the 1996 NCAA Tournament. He averaged 7.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game in 69 career games. Pope was named to the All-SEC Tournament Team in 1995, behind a pair of double-doubles in three games, including one in the title game that went to overtime.

Pope was selected in the second round of the 1996 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers. He played professional basketball from 1997-2005, including stints with Indiana, Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets. In 2000-01, he started 45 games and helped the Bucks reach the Eastern Conference Finals.

Following his playing days, Pope enrolled in medical school at Columbia University and completed two years before returning to basketball. He joined Mark Fox’s staff at Georgia in 2009. He then spent one season as an assistant coach for Jeff Bzdelik at Wake Forest and four seasons at BYU under Dave Rose. The Cougars posted four straight 20-win seasons and advanced to postseason play in each of those four years, including three bids to the NCAA Tournament. His success as an assistant at BYU was the springboard to become head coach at Utah Valley.

Pope and his wife, Lee Anne, have four daughters, Ella, Avery Layla and Shay. He is a 1996 graduate of Kentucky with a degree in English.

Pope’s record as a head coach:
