I'd love to hug the Lost and Found department!

Cool Cruiser

I lost a necklace that was inexpensive, but of great sentimental value to me on a July Celebrity sailing. I contacted the folks in their Lost and Found department, who kept me apprised every week of the steps they were taking to locate it. Today, I got a call from a lovely woman named "Rose" at Royal Caribbean, who let me know that my precious keepsake had been found! She was awesome in tracking it down!

I am posting because I want to give due credit for the tireless efforts made by Celebrity/RCI and by Rose in particular. And I also want to let folks know that if you should ever lose something on a X or RCI sailing, be sure to report it to the Lost and Found Department. I had given up hope. I know that not everything is found and returned, but don't hesitate to let the good folks at RCI/Celebrity help you if you should leave something behind.

I'm also wishing good karma to the person who turned it in. I'm thinking maybe our room steward, Antonio...

The best way to thank Rose is to send an email to guest relations at RCI.
Glad to read that the staff an Celebrity/RCCL went the extra mile to find your necklace. During our last cruise - Celebrity Solstice, in January 2012 - i found 2 clutch purses that were left in the stalls in the ladies room. When I couldn't locate the owners in the ladies room, I brought the purses to the Purser's Desk. Hopefully, the rightful owners claimed their property. About 15 years ago, I left a camera (pre-digital cameras) in the specialty restaurant on NCL. We had taken our 3 kids on this cruise and had taken a lot of family photos. I remembered that I had left the camera under the table about an hour after we had left the restaurant. When I returned to the restaurant, the camera was gone. I don't know whether the staff or another passenger took our camera. The camera was not a very expensive one, but the photos were important to our family.

What a lovely story, with a happy ending. And wishing Rose good karma, will only bring the best karma back to you.

So happy for you. I also spoke to a woman named Rose when we left a piece of luggage at Cape Liberty in June. I was so upset..it was my suitcase with all my clothes. The porter kept rushing me and counting the luggage for me. I shouldn't have let him be so aggressive. Fortunately, the suitcase was delivered to me 3 days later. Lesson learned!

Wow, that is fantastic!!

Way to go, Rose...sometimes the least expensive piece of jewelry holds the most valuable memories.;)

Lost and found were great for us twice. Once the Daughter took off her coat to go thru security and on the other side she forgot to collect it. It was missing for 3 days, but finally whomever had picked it up realized they had someone elses coat and turned it in the LAST morning. We got it back right before we disembarked.

On another day they changed sheets in the cabins and the same Daughters much loved stuffy was tangled up in the sheets and went unniticed by the housekeeping. When we got back aboard that late afternoon and she discovered no 'puppy', there was mild hysteria verging towards total breakdown. He Da called Xavier's number and while he was on break, the lovely gentleman covering for him came rushing down to deck 2 to hear what the problem was, departed to go find it and leave a messsage with Xavier for when he came back, and, miracle of miracles, was back with it in under 15 minutes. What a relief.

Great Review

I am happy for you as I have lost something of sentimental value and an employee of Delta Airlines helped me out! I too would recommend writing a letter as people understand it takes time to write something down and send it. Personally, I enjoyed getting letters from people for the efforts of my companies employees. We always made a big deal out of the letters! The employee loved it and so did other employees. They knew their efforts mattered.

I have her full name now, since she sent me my shipping number this morning. I hope that she is recognized by her supervisors...

Thanks for turning in the clutch purses.

I left my new digital camera in a lounge two years ago - just forgot it.

The next day I checked at guest services and they had it.

So thank you to however turned it in!

This year I found a beautiful diamond ring on deck and took it to guest relations. I expected to be given some sort of receipt confirming that I had handed it in but I was informed that this is not the way they do things. Next day I saw a man looking around the area where the ring was found and I asked him what he was looking for. Turned out to be the husband of the owner of the ring. He said they had been to guest relations who reported that no ring had been found. I suggested he went back and give them my name and cabin number and the time I handed in the ring. Shortly afterwards his wife came and found me and she was wearing the ring. They were so happy. I wonder what would have happened if he had not bumped into me on deck though.

Hummmmm makes you wonder what they do with stuff that is not claimed....
