Star Tours

  • Star Tours was a joint production between Walt Disney Imagineering and George Lucas' special effects operation Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) . After agreeing to the project, Walt Disney Imagineering purchased military flight simulators to help create the effects and movement. The final StarSpeeders are therefore very similar in design and power to these immense industrial machines.
  • The Astroport workers seen during the flight and in the pre-show video are all ILM modelshop workers . However, contrary to popular belief, the worker seen ducking in shock as your StarSpeeder returns to the Astroport is infact not George Lucas but Ira Keeler, an ILM modelmaker who just happened to be in the right place at the right time!
  • Look closely at REX's bodywork and you'll see a red tag featuring the words "Remove Before Flight" - could this explain his poor flight skills?
  • One of the Ewoks featured in the pre-flight video is holding a Mickey Mouse plush . The guests surrounding them are all Imagineers and their families.

The original Star Tours in California, opened 1987, cost almost twice as much as the whole park did upon opening in 1955!

  • Make your plans for a Star Tours departure later in the day for a shorter wait at the terminal. Even though the ride is indoors, it is given an extra buzz of realism at nighttime thanks to the spacey atmosphere of Discoveryland outside.
  • Not suitable for sufferers of motion sickness.
  • For safety, you should be in good health and free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness or other conditions which could be aggravated by this adventure.
  • Expectant mothers and those wearing an orthopaedic device or surgical collar should not ride.
  • Transfer required.

Star Tours - The Adventures Continue (Disneyland Paris)

star tours ride disneyland paris

In 1987, the original version of Star Tours opened in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland. The motion simulator ride based on the Star Wars franchise featured Captain Rex, a droid that attempted to fly guests to the planet Endor.

In 2011, Disney debuted an updated version of this ride: Star Tours – The Adventures Continue . The new ride uses advanced 3D technology, randomly chosen alternate scenes, and frequent updates with new characters and locations as new Star Wars films come out.

The new version also exists at other Disney Parks around the world: Disney’s Hollywood Studios , Disneyland Park  and Tokyo Disneyland .

Queue Details

  • Captain Rex can still be found in the new version – the droid is near the entrance to the queue’s cargo bay, ready to be shipped far, far away as DEFECTIVE stickers are now stuck to him.

star tours ride disneyland paris

  • The droid found during the boarding pre-show is Aly San San . She is inspired by  Attack of the Clones ‘ waitress droid, WA-7 . In the US versions of the ride, this character is voiced by actress Allison Janney which has a “glitch” to provide safety information in Spanish. In this version of the ride, the droid is voiced by a French actress with her “glitch” being part of Janney’s English spiel. You may recognize Janney as the voice of Peach in Pixar’s Finding Nemo (2003) as well as Doofenshmirtz’s ex-wife Charlene in Disney’s Phineas and Ferb .

Ride Details

  • The original French version of the ride featured Luq Hamet as the voice of Captain Rex. Hamet has a few Disney roles under his belt as the French voice-over actor for Milo in Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) as well as the titular character in Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) . In the new version, our pilot is C-3PO, voiced by the film’s original English voice actor/performer Anthony Daniels , who although doesn’t provide the voice-overs for the French dubs of the  Star Wars films , does speak fluent French.
  • The ride doesn’t have an original score, but rather a compilation of music from the Star Wars films by John Williams . Composer  Richard Bellis  was in charge of arranging and orchestrating the melody including some original elements such as the infamous chime . Bellis played a similar role in Disneyland’s Indiana Jones And The Temple Of The Forbidden Eye as well as a number of original projects for Disney including The ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter and Dinosaur .
  • One of the sequences takes riders to Crait , the mineral planet seen during  Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi (2017) . Crait was inspired by and filmed on Bolivia’s Uyuni Salt Flat . The portions used during the ride are likely to be completely CGI.
  • Another sequence takes riders to Hoth , the ice planet seen during  Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980) . Hoth’s battle scenes were filmed on and near Norway’s Hardangerjøkulen (Hardanger Glacier) , although the ride footage appears to all be CGI.

The great thing about Disneyland Paris is that it’s not just for kids! Across the two Disneyland Paris parks, there are some fantastic rollercoasters and thrill rides to get the adrenaline flowing.

Disneyland Paris Rollercoasters

Table of Contents

5 Awesome Disneyland Paris Rollercoasters

From the classics like Big Thunder Mountain to the latest addition, Avengers Assemble: Flight Force in the Avengers Campus, here’s our guide to the best thrill rides and rollercoasters at Disneyland Paris.

Extra Magic Hour

Remember if you are staying at one of the Disneyland Paris hotels (or have a Magic Plus or Infinity annual pass) then you can access the parks one hour before the gates open for regular guests. This is a great time to ride some of the most popular rollercoasters at Disneyland Paris – Big Thunder Mountain, Crush’s Coaster, Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain and Avenger’s Assemble typically welcome guests during Extra Magic Hour. Extra Magic Hour is one of the main perks of staying at one of the Disneyland Paris hotels.

If you want to stay in a Disney hotel then hotel and ticket packages can be reserved through the Disneyland Paris website and this will include access to Extra Magic Hour during your stay – check hotel prices and availability here!

Check Disney hotel availability and prices here!

Extra Magic Hour is a benefit to hotel guests across the Disneyland Paris Hotels:

1 | Avengers Assemble: Flight Force

Location: Avengers Campus, Walt Disney Studios Minimum Height Requirement: 1.2m Do riders go upside down: yes

A recent addition to Walt Disney Studios, the Avengers Assemble: Flight Force rollercoaster was launched in July 2022 as part of the Marvel Avengers Campus. Riders join forces with Iron Man and Captain Marvel to save the world from an intergalactic threat. The 3-second, 0 to 60mph launch is a highlight and this steel rollercoaster features twists and turns including a corkscrew and a double inversion sea serpent roll.

Disneyland Paris Rollercoasters

Disneyland Paris rollercoasters tip: if this rollercoaster seems familar, there’s a good chance you might have ridden it before! Prior to its Marvel retheme to become Avengers Assemble: Flight Force, it was originally the Aerosmith Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster which operated in Disneyland Paris between 2002 and 2019.

Disneyland Paris Rollercoasters

2 | Crush’s Coaster

Location: Worlds of Pixar, Walt Disney Studio Minimum Height Requirement: 1.07m

The Finding Nemo-inspired Crush’s Coaster is an all-spinning, all darkness rollercoaster which transports riders in a turtle shell.

Disneyland Paris Rollercoasters

The aquatic themed ride features scenes from the movie with the Great Barrier Reef and Sydney Harbour Bridge both appearing. Crush’s Coaster starts off quite slowly before riders are propelled into the rollercoaster style section by the East Australian Current. The ride reaches speeds of 40mph and has a 50 foot drop!

Disneyland Paris Rollercoasters

Disneyland Paris rollercoasters tip: With its minimum height requirement of 1.07m, the ride is accessible to riders from age 4 or 5 and up – our 4 year old loved it! Crush’s Coaster is very popular with younger park goers and has one of the longest queues in the park. If you have access during Extra Magic Hour (you will have this if you are staying in a Disney hotel or have an annual pass) then Crush’s Coaster is a must do during this quierter period in the park.

Disneyland Paris Rollercoasters

3 | Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain

Location: Discoveryland, Disneyland Park Minimum Height Requirement: 1.20m Do riders go upside down: yes

Originally Space Mountain, this steel rollercoaster had a Star Wars overhaul to rebrand as Star Wars Hyperspace Moutain. Riders team up with the Rebel Alliance to do battle with the evil Empire.

The rollercoaster boasts a cannon launch (check out the pic below with the launch tube visible on the roof) and 3 inversions and twists and turns in the dark at breakneck speed.

Disneyland Paris Rollercoasters

4 | Big Thunder Mountain

Location: Frontierland, Disneyland Park Minimum Height Requirement: 1.02m

A Disneyland Paris classic, Big Thunder Moutain is a family-friendly rollercoaster set deep in the Wild West.

Legend has it that a mining company was set up in the 1850s when gold was discovered. After some strange happenings, the mine was feared to be haunted and the area became a ghost town. The mine has reopened and riders board a runaway mine train cart for a wild ride on the Big Thunder Railroad.

The 1.5km track dives and climbs, swooping underneath rivers, through caves filled with bats and explosive dynamite. Big Thunder Mountain reaches speeds of 30mph as it propels through the darkness with much of the ride indoors.

Disneyland Paris rollercoasters tip: With its minimum height requirement of 1.02m, the ride is typically accessible to riders from age 4 and up. This is our 4 year old’s favourite ride in the entire park and he insists we ride it multiple times a day when we visit! If you have access during Extra Magic Hours (you will have this if you are staying in a Disney hotel or have an annual pass) then Big Thunder Mountain is a must do during this quierter period in the park. When queues are long it’s also worth buying Disney Premier Access fast passes for this ride as they give almost instant access.

Disneyland Paris Rollercoasters

5 | Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril

Location: Adventureland, Disneyland Park Minimum Height Requirement: 1.40m Do riders go upside down: yes

Featuring a thrilling 360° loop, riders board runaway mine carts to explore the Temple of Peril jungle ruins in search of an earlier expedition which appears to have disappeared in mysterious circumstances. The ride lasts just 90 seconds.

Disneyland Paris Rollercoasters

Disneyland Paris rollercoasters tip: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril has the tallest height requirement (1.40m) of all the rides in the park.

Do any of the Rollercoasters go Upside Down at Disneyland Paris?

Yes! Indiana Jones, Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain and Avengers Assemble all have loops where riders are upside down.

3 Thrill Rides at Disneyland Paris (Non-Rollercoaster)

As well as its rollercoaster, Disneyland Paris boasts some awesome thrill rides which will likely appeal to rollercoaster junkies and adrenaline seekers!

6 | RC Racer

Location: Worlds of Pixar , Walt Disney Studios Minimum Height Requirement: 1.20m

A Toy Story themed thrill ride, RC Racer is a 25metre high half-pipe coaster.

The ride’s premise is that Toy Story’s Andy has set up his RC Racer half pipe and is racing a remote control car up and down the half-pipe.

Disneyland Paris rollercoasters tip: if you don’t mind who you ride with then the single rider queue can save a ton of queing time on RC Racer. The front row seats are always the most fun!

Disneyland Paris Rollercoasters

7 | Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

Location: Production Courtyard, Walk Disney Studios Minimum Height Requirement: 1.02m

Set in the abandoned Hollywood Tower Hotel, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is an eerie ride based on the 1960s tv series, The Twilight Zone. Riders tour the abandoned hotel and take a ride on its service elevator – the same service elevator where 4 hotel guests and a staff member went missing during a storm in 1939.

After a fantastic prelude, riders are seated in the service elevator and treated to a series of gravity defying drops as the elevator plummets towards the ground.

Disneyland Paris Rollercoasters

8 | Star Tours: The Adventures Continue

Location: Discoveryland , Disneyland Park Minimum Height Requirement: 1.02m

Star Tours: The Adventures Continue is a motion stimulator where riders board a Starspeeder 1000 for a 3D voyage to the far end of the Star Wars galaxy. With 60 ride combinations, every journey is unique.

Disneyland Paris rollercoasters tip: Star Tours: The Adventures Continue is presented entirely in French.

Bonus: Toddler-Friendly Rollercoaster at Disneyland Paris

The Disneyland Paris rollercoasters aren’t just for the adrenaline junkies! If you are travelling with younger kids then Dumbo-inspired Casey Jr is the perfect introduction to roller coasters for babies and toddlers!

9 | Casey Jr: Le Petit Train du Cirque

Location: Fantasyland , Disneyland Park Minimum Height Requirement: None

Casey Jr takes riders on a journey through Storybook Land on a gentle roller coaster-style ride for kids. There are some fast turns and gentle bumps to excite younger riders!

Casey Jr passes miniature scenes from Disney classics – the train whizzes by scenes from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast as it navigates the railroad.

Disney Park Makes ‘Star Wars’ U-Turn, Beloved Staple Returning Soon

in Disneyland Paris

Mandalorian and Grogu at Disneyland Paris

A month after their sudden disappearance, the Mandalorian and Grogu are heading back to one Disney park.

The Mandalorian and Grogu (AKA Baby Yoda) have fast become fan-favorites at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort , with the pair making frequent appearances throughout Galaxy’s Edge .

The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) flies with Gorgu in-hand in concept art for Lucasfilm's 'The Mandalorian & Grogu'

Related: Confirmed – Pedro Pascal Is Not ‘The Mandalorian’ Anymore (And Reportedly Hasn’t Been for a While)

Considering their popularity, it seemed like an obvious choice to add the duo to Disneyland Paris , despite the resort lacking its own Star Wars land. In January, it was revealed that Din Djarin and Grogu were now permanent residents in Discoveryland (the Disneyland Paris equivalent of Tomorrowland) where guests could wait in line to meet them throughout the day.

But just as soon as they arrived, the pair mysteriously disappeared . In early February, the meet-and-greet site was abruptly removed from Disneyland Park, with the listing also scrubbed from both the Disneyland Paris app and website.

The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu in the N1 Starfighter in 'The Mandalorian'

With no news on why the decision was made to axe the characters – who regularly generated long lines – it was assumed that Disney had decided to axe the meet and greet. Now, however, the Mandalorian and Grogu finally have a return date from a galaxy far, far away.

According to DLP Report , the duo will be available for meet and greets from March 4, 2024.

📍The Mandalorian will return to Discoveryland from March 4. No end date is known for the moment.

It’s currently unclear whether this is a permanent return and if this was just a seasonal break for the character. As usual, it’s thought that the meet-and-greet will primarily be for the Mandalorian, with Grogu sporadically joining him at certain times throughout the day.

Until recently, it was thought that guests could expect plenty more  Star Wars  fun at Disneyland Paris. It was previously announced that Walt Disney Studios Park would debut its own version of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, in addition to Avengers Campus (which opened in 2022) and World of Frozen (which is currently under construction).

However, these plans have since been scrubbed from the action plan for Disney’s most unpopular theme park, with some theorizing that The Lion King  (1994) may instead serve as inspiration for the land’s theme.

There have also been whispers that Disneyland Park may become the new home for Galaxy’s Edge . The park (which hasn’t received a new attraction in nearly 20 years ) is currently home to a  Star Wars version of Space Mountain known as Hyperspace Mountain, as well as Star Tours: The Adventures Continue.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
  • The interval in the movement of trains in rush hour is  90 seconds .
