Rejoice! Ghost have returned to our shores. Papa Emeritus IV and the Nameless Ghouls brought the Re-Imperatour stateside last night (August 2nd) at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, California, the kickoff show of a 27-date U.S. trek.
Viking-metal berserkers and fellow Swedes Amon Amarth opened the show, but the evening belonged to the headliners, who had the audience enthralled with a 19-song set packed with classic songs and live staples, including the tour debut of Meliora favorite "Absolution."

Ghost Brings US Tour to Emphatic End in LA: Pictures, Set List
Ghost closed out their Re-Imperator tour with a rousing performance at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles last night (Sept. 12).
The concert was the second of two back-to-back sold out LA shows for the Swedish heavy metal giants.
The first song of the night was "Kaisarion," the epic track from Ghost’s 2022 album Impera . Other early highlights included a soaring rendition of “Spillways” and the menacing "Cirice.”
Later, singer Tobias Forge – who was a commanding presence all night as his alter-ego, Cardinal Copia – appeared at a grand piano to perform a haunting rendition of Roky Erickson ’s "If You Have Ghosts."

As to be expected, “Mary on a Cross,” the hugely successful 2019 track that unexpectedly went viral on Tik Tok, garnered some of the night’s loudest cheers.

Ghost's Show Boasted Incredible Visuals
As fans of Ghost know, the music is just one element of the band's appeal. Stage design, pyrotechnics, theatrics and outfit changes are all part of what makes Ghost such an enthralling live act, and each of these ingredients were on full display during the tour-end show.
On the night, Forge made no less than eight costume changes, including several colorful and dazzling displays. Meanwhile, massive stained glass windows hung behind the stage, exuding an imposing, gothic quality.
At various points in the concert, a troupe of skeleton dancers writhed provocatively around Forge. There was also plenty of pyro, with flamethrowers, fireworks and explosions throughout the set.
See some of the impressive visuals from Ghost’s performance in our gallery below.

Ghost has revealed details of its upcoming RE-IMPERATOUR U.S.A. 2023 summer tour with special guest Amon Amarth. Produced by Live Nation and FPC Live, the 27-date tour kicks off on Wednesday, August 2nd in Concord, CA at Concord Pavilion, with stops in Salt Lake City, Chicago, Cincinnati, Austin and more before wrapping up with the band’s Monday, September 11th return to the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
Ghost continues to elevate and reaffirm its status as one of the world’s most esteemed and celebrated creative forces. Accumulating well over a billion streams, the GRAMMY-winning Swedish theatrical rock band continues to bring the “euphoric spectacle” (ROLLING STONE) of its live shows to ever-growing and increasingly impassioned crowds, headlining arena tours including sold out shows from The Forum in Los Angeles and Barclays Center in New York to London’s O2 Arena and Stockholm’s Avicii Arena. In March 2022, THE LOS ANGELES TIMES reported in a Calendar cover story that Ghost had “conquered metal and the charts” when its fifth album IMPERA debuted at #1 in a sweep of the U.S. album charts, entering the BILLBOARD 200 at #2 and bowing at #1 in the band’s native Sweden as well as Germany and Finland, while cracking the top 5 in the UK (#2), Netherlands (#2), Belgium (#2), Canada (#3), Australia (#3), France (#5), Ireland (#5), and more. Produced by Klas Åhlund and mixed by Andy Wallace — and featuring “Spillways”—hailed as a “sweetly constructed rock tune” by THE NEW YORK TIMES, the GRAMMY-nominated “Call Me Little Sunshine,” and Active Rock #1 radio single “Hunter’s Moon” — IMPERA finds Ghost transported centuries forward from the Black Plague era of its previous album, 2018 Best Rock Album GRAMMY nominee Prequelle —or as ROLLING STONE put it, “Ghost predicted the pandemic, Now the metal band is foretelling the fall of empires.” The result is the most ambitious and lyrically incisive entry in the Ghost canon: Over the course of IMPERA’ s 12-song cycle, empires rise and fall, would-be messiahs ply their hype (financial and spiritual alike), prophecies are foretold as the skies fill with celestial bodies divine and man-made… All in all, the most current and topical Ghost subject matter to date is set against a hypnotic and darkly colorful melodic backdrop making IMPERA a listen like no other — yet unmistakably, quintessentially Ghost.
TICKETS: Tickets will be available starting with a Citi cardmember presale (details below) and Artist presale on Tuesday, February 14th. Additional presales will be available throughout the week before the general on sale starting Friday, February 17th at 10am local time on Ticketmaster.com .

Ghost Kick Off Summer US Tour with Amon Amarth: Photos + Setlists
The post Ghost Kick Off Summer US Tour with Amon Amarth: Photos + Setlists appeared first on Consequence .
Ghost have hit the road for a summer US tour , bringing fellow Swedes Amon Amarth along for the ride. The “Re-Imperator” officially kicked off with a packed show Wednesday night (August 2nd) at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, California.
Supporting their latest release, The Great Heathen Army , Amon Amarth got the ball rolling with a nine-song setlist that had the metalheads in the already full venue singing along. The band kicked off the set with “Raven’s Flight,” complete with a viking helmet drum riser, and two massive swordsman statues on either side of the stage. “Put Your Back into the Oar” was easily the crowd favorite of the set, as made obvious by the fans rowing along to the song. By the time the band wrapped up their brief set with “Twilight of the Thunder Guard,” the entire venue was primed for the headliners.
With “Imperium” blasting over the PA as the curtain dropped, Ghost hit the stage with “Kaisarion” from their latest album, IMPERA . Led by the one and only Papa Emeritus IV (aka Tobias Forge), the band tore through a 19-song setlist. Backed by his Nameless Ghouls, Papa provided showmanship throughout the set, and early highlights included “Rats” and “From the Pinnacle to the Pit.” From there, the band played “Absolution,” followed by “Ritual” and “Call Me Little Sunshine.”
Although the stained glass cathedral backdrop for the band’s set remained constant, Papa Emeritus did go through a number of costume changes. After closing their main set with “Respite on the Spitalfields,” Ghost returned to the stage for a three-song encore, wrapping-up the evening with the anthemic “Square Hammer.”

Ghost has announced details of its summer 2023 American tour, dubbed “Re-Imperatour USA.”
The band is set to kick off the new run of dates in Concord, CA, on August 2, touring across the country until September 11, when it will wrap things up with a huge show at LA’s Kia Forum. It will be joined on the dates by special guest Amon Amarth.
Tickets for the 27-date tour will be available through Citi cardmembers’ and artists’ pre-sales from tomorrow (February 14). Following that, tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday (17) at 10am local time. For more details and to purchase, visit Ticketmaster .
R.E.M. – Out Of Time
The “Re-Imperatour USA” tour news follows Ghost holding its first-ever pop-up event at LA’s Whisky A Go Go venue earlier this month. “Metal Myths Presents: Ghost – Reverence & Resurrection” paid tribute to the classic 1969 era of Ghost, a band that didn’t actually form until almost four decades later.
The exhibit featured artifacts that had never been publicly displayed before, including the band’s 1960 costumes and ghoul masks, rare magazine covers, and more from a treasure trove of ephemera.
Meanwhile, Ghost also recently shared a new version of its track “Spillways,” featuring guest vocals from Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott. The new take on the song featured in Chapter 15 of Ghost’s long-running series of webisodes, with the installment in question documenting a karaoke session that goes awry in a spectacular and supernatural fashion.

Ghost Announce 2023 ‘Re-Imperatour’ U.S. Tour Dates With Amon Amarth
Ghost have announced their first set of U.S. tour dates for 2023. Dubbed the Re-Imperatour, the 27-date tour will feature Amon Amarth as the opener.
The run will kick off Aug. 2 in Concord, Calif. and wrap up Sept. 11 in Los Angeles at the renowned Kia Forum. Amon Amarth will join Ghost throughout the entirety of the tour, except for the Los Angeles show. Tickets go on sale this Friday, Feb. 17 at 10AM local time.
Earlier this year, Ghost leader Tobias Forge teased that "good change" would be coming to the band prior to embarking on any of their 2023 tours.
“We’re going to come out with a little bit of change before that – good change," the vocalist told Metal Hammer . "We’re not going to go silent. Some things are public, other things not in public view, but there are a lot of things brewing.”
While it's unclear what Forge was alluding to, Ghost have undergone quite a bit of change as it is over the last several months, especially when their 2019 song "Mary on a Cross" went viral on TikTok , which exposed the band to a whole new fanbase.
As per Setlist.fm , Ghost's most recent concert took place in September. They have a European tour scheduled throughout May and June before returning to the U.S. in August. Check out tickets for the European shows here .

The final show on Ghost’s US tour is an absolute triumph - and one big question about Papa Emeritus IV's immediate future is answered
Ghost play to more than 30,000 people over two nights in los angeles – but did cardinal copia/papa iv make it out alive.
You can trust Louder Our experienced team has worked for some of the biggest brands in music. From testing headphones to reviewing albums, our experts aim to create reviews you can trust. Find out more about how we review.
The final show of Ghost’s current US tour should be a joyous occasion, but there’s a pall hanging over it. There were been some fairly big hints dropped in the last instalment of their Ghost Chapter mini-movie series that frontman Cardinal Copia – aka Papa Emeritus IV – isn’t long for this mortal coil. Whatever Twitter is calling itself these days is buzzing with concerned Ghost fans fearing the worst. Even Copia himself seemed to hint as much onstage at last night’s show, the first of two nights here at LA’s colosseum-like Kia Forum. “We are approaching the end of an era,” he croaked. “So let’s have a good time.” Does he know something we don’t?
Let‘s put those dark thoughts aside for now and celebrate Ghost for what they’ve are as we approach the end of 2023. The band that started as real-life mastermind Tobias Forge’s last roll of the dice after years of near-misses and abject failures have turned into one of metal’s most unlikely success stories. These two shows at the Forum – in which no cellphones are allowed – will see them playing to upwards of 30,000 disciples, among them Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson, Cradle Of Filth’s Dani Filth and New Years Day's Ash Costello, all watching on intently from the seats.
In little over a decade, Ghost have gone from being incense-waving intruders on the middle of a bill at a death metal festival in a London club to metal’s ultimate razzle-dazzle showmen. And there’s plenty of razzle and dazzle tonight, from the gigantic stained glass windows that illuminate the back of the stage to Forge’s multiple costume changes – upwards of eight in total, including more than one shiny lamé suit jacket and his trusty old papal-robes-and-mitre ensemble.
Brilliantly, there are as many people on stage tonight as there are in Slipknot : Forge plus eight ghouls, including three guitarists, two keyboard players and a black-clad, batwinged backing vocalist who twists, twirls and bashes her tambourine like an undead Stevie Nicks.
But this is Forge’s show – or rather, Cardinal Copia’s. Part needy, Ritalin-starved teenager, part unlikely sex symbol who prompts orgiastic screams from contingents of the crowd with every flouncing flick of the wrist, he prances and preens around the stage, channelling the ghosts of Freddie Mercury and vintage Willy Wonka.
He’s a magnetic MC, convincing the crowd that it’s a glamorous Friday night rather than a drab Tuesday, and offering a winking, “Go home and fuck somebody, or go fuck yourself”. He’s an even more charismatic singer these days, nailing epic hair-metal-anthem-in-disguise Kaisarion and bringing playful menace – or maybe menacing playfulness – to Cirice and Ritual (the 30 people who saw them play that song at the Camden Underworld during their second ever show back in October 2010 would be gobsmacked at the journey its taken since). And then there’s Mary On A Cross – there’s always Mary On A Cross - and another Papa Nihil cameo, wheeled out in an upright coffin towards the end the ever-fantastic Miasma to rip out that sax break, before being unceremoniously bundled back in his casket and wheeled offstage. It's a slice of showbiz genius that never gets old.
Surprises? Yes, and they’re biggies. The first is the troupe of eight, writhing skeleton dancers who make their first appearance during a suitably roaring Twenties , dancing provocatively around Forge before hoisting him high above their heads like it’s an episode of Strictly Come Dancing .
The second is the small b-stage at the opposite end of the floor, tricked out with baby grand piano. It’s there that Forge suddenly appears out of nowhere to sing their hauntified cover of Roky Erickson’s If You Have Ghosts with the Ghoulettes – a pianist, two cellist and second vocalist whose soaring soprano has Forge genuflecting in awe at the song’s conclusion before launching into an impassioned speech in support of anyone who is experiencing mental health issues. It’s a rare serious moment, though not so serious that it stops him donning an electric blue boxer’s robes and boxing gloves and dancing his way back through the crowd to the mainstage like an undead Mohammed Ali.
And there’s the third, potential surprise – the one everyone’s been dreading. By the end of a three-song encore featuring Kiss The Go-Goat , immortal banger Dance Macabre (featuring the return of the skeleton dancers, who once more lift Forge above their heads like a sacrificial victim in a blue lamé jacket) and a magnificent Square Hammer , the crowd is tangibly nervous. What’s going to happen? Will Cardinal Copia be bumped off for a new, unknown entity? Is this the start of a brand new chapter for Ghost?
The simple answer is: no. Of course they weren’t going to kill him off tonight – there are eight more dates on this tour, in South America and Australia, and the man who has allegedly won the second most Employee Of The Month awards still has some use for the clergy The rumours of Cardinal Copia’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. Dave Everley has been writing about and occasionally humming along to music since the early 90s. During that time, he has been Deputy Editor on Kerrang! and Classic Rock , Associate Editor on Q magazine and staff writer/tea boy on Raw , not necessarily in that order. He has written for Metal Hammer, Louder, Prog, the Observer, Select, Mojo , the Evening Standard and the totally legendary Ultrakill . He is still waiting for Billy Gibbons to send him a bottle of hot sauce he was promised several years ago.

The Grammy winner got some star-studded love at her Miami stop, with Fifth Harmony alum Camila Cabello cheering her on from the audience.
The 27-year-old shared a snap alongside Olivia taken after the show on her Instagram story, writing, "the most talented sweetest cutest girl with the best show."
Olivia will next bring her arena concert series to Charlotte, North Carolina, on Friday before heading to Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday.
