Booking a glamping retreat with a hot tub can be the perfect way to unwind and reconnect with your loved one.

Dog-Friendly Accommodations

If you’re looking to include your four-legged friend in your glamping adventure, be sure to find a destination that welcomes pets. Start by searching sites like Glamping Hub that offer filters for pet-friendly accommodations.

Additionally, remember to consider the needs of your dog during your stay, such as ample space to play and explore, as well as nearby dog-friendly trails for walks and hikes. Your furry friend is sure to appreciate this extra effort to ensure they have a comfortable and fun glamping experience alongside you.

Preparing for Your Glamping Trip

Let’s discover the essentials you need to prepare for a luxurious glamping trip, complete with a soothing hot tub experience.

Checking the Weather

Before embarking on your glamping trip with a hot tub, make sure to check the weather forecast for your destination. This will help you pack the appropriate clothing and gear for outdoor activities. For example, consider packing a rain jacket if there’s a possibility of rain, and bring extra layers for cooler evenings and nights.

Ensuring WiFi Availability

If staying connected during your glamping trip is a priority, confirm with the site whether they offer WiFi access. Knowing the availability of WiFi will not only help you plan your online activities but also allow you to stay informed about the weather, nearby attractions, and possibly any emergency situations.

Additionally, make sure to bring your devices, chargers, and power banks to keep your gadgets charged and ready for use.

Considering Heating Options

Depending on the time of year and location, you may need to consider heating options for your glamping accommodation. Inquire with the glamping site about the heating availability in their accommodations, such as electric heaters, wood stoves, or propane heaters. This will help you stay warm and cozy during your stay, especially after enjoying a relaxing soak in the hot tub.

If necessary, pack extra blankets or sleeping bags to ensure a comfortable night’s sleep despite the temperature. Ensure you pack suitable clothing and dress in layers to maintain a comfortable temperature while enjoying the outdoors.

A night at the Skamania Lodge outside Portland, Oregon, has always been a treat. The 175-acre mountain hideaway is nestled in a clearing surrounded by towering Douglas Firs along the scenic Columbia River Gorge in Stevenson, Washington. In addition to traditional rooms and suites, the property added a “tree house village” that’s about to be expanded with upscale glamping tents perched on the forest floor.

The new glamping tents will offer the chance to really spend the night in nature — with a luxurious twist. The canvas safari-style tents are bolstered by wooden framing and set on a giant platform. Each has a king-sized bed outfitted with 300-thread-count sheets and fluffy pillows.

In the adjacent bathing tent, there's a shower and a deep soaking tub that can be enjoyed under an open tent to showcase the beauty of the surrounding forest .

The thoughtful touches and luxurious amenities are what make a stay in the Skamania Lodge's tents “glamping,” but the true experience is the simple act of enjoying a night under the stars in a dense forest. Mornings are spent on the deck, coffee mug in hand, and afternoons are spent exploring the on-property trail system.

"We can’t wait to introduce our luxurious glamping experience, catering to the growing demand for immersive outdoor stays that offer both adventure and comfort," Jack Hansen, director of sales and marketing at Skamania Lodge, said in a press release shared with Travel + Leisure . "The glamping experience allows guests to unwind in nature while enjoying the unparalleled amenities and services synonymous with Skamania Lodge."

Glamping guests also have access to the resort’s many amenities, including indoor and outdoor hot tubs, an indoor swimming pool, a fitness center, a 9-hole golf course, and an adventure park with seven zip lines and three sky bridges. The Skamania Lodge also has a full spa and two award-winning on-site eateries.

Skamania Lodge is located 45 minutes east of Portland in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. Before the launch of the glamping tents in May 2024, Skamania will debut a series of brand-new cabins and a spacious, three-bedroom villa for larger groups. Both open in April 2024. All accommodation types are available to book now for stays starting in May and April, respectively, at skamania.com .

We had an absolutely wonderful week at Sweeney Farm. The tents were very glam and offered everything you would possibly need. The balcony was a fantastic space to enjoy the gorgeous views, the kitchen / dining are was brilliant as it offered a nice space to enjoy breakfasts, the beds were beyond comfy. Thank you so much!

- Lynsey Thompson

Thank you for your hospitality and providing such high standard accommodation. We all have thoroughly enjoyed the stay with the whole family. Hopefully see you again in the summer.

- Hitesh Kanbi

We had a truly wonderful holiday! The accommodation was beautiful and well equipped. The children just relished the freedom the location affords, while the adults had the opportunity to relax!

Becky Jones

Yet another great stay in Breidden Lodge at Sweeney Farm. Beautiful location and the lodge is huge…..loads of space for the 8 of us and having 2 bathrooms really helped with that many people. The hot tub was a big hit. Helen was helpful and unobtrusive, which was perfect.

Nicola Watson

We had an amazing stay. The lodge was clean, spacious and well equipped in a fantastic setting. Beds were comfy, showers were hot and everything was as described. Would highly recommend for a group stay.

We loved our stay at Sweeney Farm. We have made so many great memories. The kids enjoyed playing on the field and could play safely with plenty of space for games. There was so much to see and do within a short driving distance and we’ve already said that we want to return. We would highly recommend it to family and friends.

We booked the whole site for a hen party and had an absolutely brilliant weekend. The accommodation is ideal and well equipped. Helen is lovely but leaves you to it unless you need help. The hot tubs are perfect and so clean. We had a fantastic weekend and I am sure some of us will book again in the future.

10/10 rating for the Tiger Lodge with a Hot Tub (Tesso Lodge).

Had an amazing break in the Tesso Lodge at the West Midlands Safari Park. We booked the Tiger Lodge with a hot tub. Have to be honest we were reluctant to book to begin with as felt the cost for a night is expensive but we were blown away with how special this Lodge and Safari park was. We are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children 12 and 9 year olds). The lodge is done up so well. Such a homely feel with so much luxury. We checked in at 2pm and saw the female there playing with her little cub from our lounge viewing point. It was so amazing seem mum and daughter play. The evening meal and breakfast were very nice which we enjoyed as a family (we loved the sticky toffee pudding with custard). The male tiger is let out at night so he does his rounds whilst mum and Cub are kept indoor for the night. The lounge has a smart television which has everything you need. The hot tub was amazing. The kids just didn’t want to leave. We had a very good nights sleep and the beds were very comfortable. I can’t explain the feeling on waking up in the night to have a look through the window to see the tiger. I can’t explain the feeling on waking up in the night to have a look through the window to see the tiger. We woke up early in the morning as kids wanted to chill in the Hot tub before breakfast and this did not disappoint. Whilst chilling in the hot tub we saw the male tiger walk right past us and have a drink from the pond in the enclosure. You could also hear the lions roaring from their enclosure which was on the other side of the park. We really don’t have any negatives to share. The only recommendation we would give is it would be nice if they provided some slippers with the dressing gowns as wound be easier to go into the hot tub area but we did take our own. The kids are Adamant we are going back again as they loved this experience. Finally we were worried that we are going for our youngest child’s birthday and he’s born in December which is 🥶 but the weather was great and even if it does snow or rain the tigers will still come out and there is lots to do in the lodge and the drive safari. What a fantastic 5* review! We are so happy that you had an amazing break in our Tiger Lodge recently, it is so lovely to hear how special your stay was and hope you and you family were able to make some wonderful memories. We are so pleased you enjoyed your time in the lodge and hot tub getting to know our tigers, we hope you wee able to learn a little more about the importance of conservation for Sumatran tigers. Thank you for choosing Safari Lodges!

Very sadly having to write this, as my expectations where really high, having saved a lot to gift this as a xmas present to my girlfriend and children. So we have been stuck outside tiger metal gate ( near Hippos ) for 30 mins as nobody gave us the code to that gate and no one answering the phone. Pitch black with 3 kids, you could use some lights on the floor as guidance and not disturb animals . Fridge and toaster wasn't working an took an hour for somebody to come fix , we had dinner at 9:15pm again not great with kids. There wasnt a place to leave the jars same as we did for breakfast , and also no dishwasher? When paying 1.5k last thing I want to do is handwash cutlery and plates. Overall not luxury service which is a shame as this is the best place I ve ever been in England. Bit deluded if I am honest, as it really is simply things.. That said , the team have done their best to resolve and understand the situation. The place is unreal , it does need some tweaks and I hope I will be the last person experience it. Highly recommend if you like animals

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback on your recent stay in our Tiger Lodge. Our Guest Relations Team have addressed your comments with you over email, but we do apologise again for any disappointment on your recent stay. Your feedback is invaluable and we really appreciate you contacting us. We hope to welcome you back to the park in the future.

The beds were so comfortable, luxury pillows, lodges are so nice and plenty of room, great experience ,we stayed in Tiger lodge, hoping to go back next year in Lion lodge,so amazing see animal walk past window

Thank you for the lovely 5* review! We are so pleased to hear you had such a relaxing experience in our Tiger Lodge recently and hope you were able to make some special memories watching our tigers. We look forward to welcoming you back to Safari Lodges in the near future!

Poor sleep, beds too firm, pillows one not enough, two is too much, duvet very heavy. Nice lodge, good heated air con, limited cheetah views, and food poor. This is our 9th time there as we love the animals.

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience. We are sorry to hear your most recent stay was not as comfortable as you had hoped and that you also did not enjoy your meals. We shall certainly pass on your feedback to the relevant management. We do hope that as a loyal guest, we can welcome you back to Safari Lodges again soon.

Cheetah Lodge Clean, Comfortable, Amazing If you want to see cheetahs a hand away. With beautifull rooms and lovely food I recomend you stay here. The experience is 10 out of 10. Staff are amazing. People are friendly with plenty to do.

We had amazing time, every staff member We saw was friendly and spoke..the check in reception was great and explained everything..we stayed in the cheetah lodge which was beatuiful and clean.the food was lovely and plenty. Yes its in little jars and you have to heat it up..but it's simple and it meant we could eat when we wanted to..and yes we saw the cheetahs plenty..i went for my 60th birthday and for a special occasion it definitely was worth it.

Hot Tub Safari Glamping

Image of the land

“This is camping with whistles and bells on”, the couple proclaim, as they point you down to a safari tent with a wooden front door and a thick, dark green canvas. Push it open and they’re certainly not wrong. Beneath an inner, light white canopy, the super king-sized bed is as you would expect in their high-end hotel bedrooms, beautifully made up and flanked by bedside tables and lamps. A central relaxing space has a deep sofa, facing the TV, before the tent is divided by a green wooden blind, that opens into a huge ensuite bathroom. Inside a freestanding bathtub beckons you to forget your plans and simply soak for hours on end, your guilty pleasure shared only with the wooden giraffe figure that Graham and Bre brought back from Africa.

As the name would suggest, however, the bath is not really the place to bob around until you turn into a shrivelled prune and, instead, it is the safari tent’s private terrace that has the standout feature. Each tent has its very own bubbling hot tub, a prime spot to enjoy some late night stargazing. If you still feel too confined then when you wander back up to the hotel for breakfast, dive into the outdoor swimming pool, beautifully set in a walled off area of the garden.

Certainly the much-proclaimed "bells and whistles" give this place a real badge of luxury honour and their description of the tents as ‘canvas lodges’ is an apt title. But what really charms you here takes more than just plumbing in the newest hot tub. Bre and Graham have quite obviously been in the hospitality business for years and the welcome guests receive shows their desire to provide the very best North Wales experience. Talking you through the top attractions nearby, they often point out Richard, the resident falconer, who has been using the hotel’s 200-acre grounds for the last few years training his three hawks. Richard’s ‘hawk walk’ is definitely an offer to take up and if you’re keen he’ll let you handle a bird as it swoops and soars acrobatically overhead before returning to your gloved hand. It’s one of the more unusual ways to enjoy the woods and riverbanks that make up the surroundings, but even if you prefer a walk to the village pub or a drive to the beach, Hot Tub Safari Glamping makes for an excellent base.

For the best local walks Offa's Dyke (01547 528753) is certainly a popular pick, climbing the hills that stand proudly around Pentre Mawr the route offers fantastic views. If you'd like a guide then Bre and Graham can also set you up with Joe Cooper, a local chap who has a passion for health and fitness along with excellent knowledge of the area. Those with an interest in history should try Conwy Castle (01492 592358), Plas Newydd (01248 714795) or Denbigh Castle (01745 813385), just 3 miles away, while for many the obvious calling is the coast, half an hours drive. If you manage to tire of the local walking then Snowdonia National Park (01766 770274) also makes for an excellent day trip with some of the country's most demanding peaks.

Prices include dinner, bed and breakfast, though if you would prefer bed and breakfast only, just get in contact. Meals are cooked in the hotel by Bre and Richard themselves, excellent cooks who have previously won AA dining awards. Served in the conservatory restaurant, diners can enjoy wonderful views while they eat. If you're looking for a night or two elsewhere then try the White Horse (01824 790582) or Kinmel Arms Tavern (01824 790291), both a mile away in Llandyrnog, with that true village pub feel. The Tefnant Inn (01745 730636), also nearby, is becoming one of the top spots for grub nearby and comes recommended by the locals.

Ullswater Heights luxury glamping safari tents in the Lake District

When we visited Ullswater Heights over Christmas, their new luxury glamping village really caught my eye. I thought they would be a really fun place to stay in the summer (spoiler: they are totally amazing!)

We love the Lake District — especially the area around Ullswater. We are really into paddle boarding and there are many gorgeous lakes to SUP and swim in. Plus the walks in that area are really beautiful.

hot tub safari

Fast forward to summer 2020, with lockdown eased and staycations a top priority for many, we booked a 6-person safari tent with a hot tub for some luxury glamping in the Lake District.

Brand new in late 2019, the Family Glamping Village at Ullswater Heights in Newbiggin (6 miles from Ullswater Lake) is the ultimate in luxury glamping. It’s a small cluster of 10 high-end tents set to one side of the holiday home park. All of the tents are all positioned to look over some beautiful wildflower meadows and marshlands. There are tents for groups of both 6 and 8 people.

hot tub safari

Safari 6 Luxury Glamping Tent

We stayed in the Safari 6 Simplex which accommodates up to 6 people; it had two double beds, two single beds and a bunk area that sleeps two. There’s a well-equipped kitchen area with fridge, icebox & four ring electric hob, a bathroom with toilet and shower, a lounge area with comfy furniture, a Smart TV and a wood burner. Outside there’s a large deck with a private hot tub!

The effect is totally amazing. It’s by far the best glamping experience I’ve ever had. There are little luxuries like heated towel racks and an indoor log burner – but it still has the feel of camping. When it rains you feel very protected and it’s very soothing to hear the patter of rain drops from inside a canvas tent!

hot tub safari

Kitchen and living area

The tent open into a spacious living area with a high quality sofa, chairs, a coffee table, TV and wood burner. There are more than enough power points to charge devices.

The kitchen is equipped with an electric hob, fridge with icebox, kettle & toaster. It does not have an oven or a microwave and the under-sink fridge is on the small size (the 8-person tents have larger Smeg fridges). However it gives off a cute and cozy feel, and has mostly everything you need – dishware, glassware (and plastic for the jacuzzi), utensils, including a much needed wine opener! 😉

hot tub safari

The “rooms” are zipped in areas of the tent. There’s a double bed, with a very comfortable foam mattress (I think it’s queen sized), 2 sets of pillows and high-quality linens and duvets. There’s a light, double power point, mirror and safe. There’s a second zipped in double room with twin beds and heater. The last sleeping area is a cute loft area with a ladder. It’s more suitable for kids, but my very tall 18-year-old slept there and she loved it. It could probably fit two very friendly adults. Everyone gets plush terrycloth dressing gowns and slippers.

hot tub safari

The bathroom and shower

The bathroom has a wooden door that slides, a shower, sink, heated towel rack and space to put your things.

The tents are designed to be stayed in all year – they have a log burner (logs & starter provided) and gas central heating. We had a heater in each room/living area and the bathroom has a heated towel rack. Theres no doubt that you will be cozy!

hot tub safari

Private deck and hot tub

Best of all, outside is a private deck with sheltered Jacuzzi hot tub that overlooks a field of wildflowers and marshland. The hot tub is looked after each day by staff to make sure it’s perfect for you. The deck has lovely outdoor furniture – a table and chairs for 6 people, as well as a box full of wood for the log burner.

hot tub safari

High speed wifi

The wifi is amazing and we never had an issue with it.

hot tub safari

Communal BBQ area

In the center of the glamping village is a communal BBQ area exclusive to Glamping guests. There are 4 outdoor grills to use, and they are simple to operate. Note they are not traditional BBQs, but more of an outdoor grill/hotplate. They work well for sausages and burgers. I also grilled padron peppers.

hot tub safari

Ullswater Heights Leisure Park

The glamping village sits at the edge of the high-end Ullswater Heights Leisure Park, which is a mixture of owned luxury lodges and holiday lodges. There’s the Lakehouse restaurant with a nice gastro menu. It’s centered around a quarry lake and there are lots of walks around the park.

hot tub safari

Summer wild flowers

One of the most stunning features is the wildflower meadows and planting throughout the holiday park. Throughout there are field poppies, cornflowers, California poppies, Ammi, Sacbious, Black Eyes Susan’s, Cowslip, Buttercups and many other varieties. It’s breathtaking. I’ve not seen that at any other holiday park and it’s very clever landscaping. This is not your typical holiday park.

hot tub safari

Chloe Anne’s farm

My youngest daughter really liked this. There’s a path to the farm which has sheep, alpacas, goats, ponies, donkeys and pigs. There’s also a small building which was home to some smaller animals like rabbits and guinea pigs, and a gecko and chameleon. Inside was also an aquarium with fish. If you time it right you can be there to help feed the animals! The farm is nicely done and definitely a highlight for animal lovers. I was amused the by alpacas – which seemed to be always outside the barn and checking out who was around.

hot tub safari

The Lake House Restaurant

The Lake House is the resort’s bar and restaurant. Looking over the private quarry lake, it’s light, airy and has outdoor seating available, which I imagine would be fantastic in the summer. It’s a gastro pub menu – with wild mushroom and blue stilton bruschetta, pumpkin and parmesan risotto, Cumbrian steak burger and a braised Lakeland lamb shank (my husband’s favourite).  There’s a child’s play area outside so very convenient if you want to eat you can watch the kids while they play!

hot tub safari

Coming soon

The resort has a spa and swimming pool coming soon. There’s also a plan for water sports on the quarry lake. They both sounds amazing and just add to the attraction of the park. We will definitely plan another trip to the Lake District when these are implemented!

What could be improved

The glamping area is for families and you are staying in a tent. Needless to say it can be quite noisy at times. There are strict rules posted everywhere for no noise after 10.30 pm  – which looks like it is enforced from tripadvisor reviews of noisy guests complaining about be asked to leave. But kids are kids and family groups like to talk. Noise carries – we heard conversation well into the night, and then the little ones all seem to get up and playing by 7 am. The solution of course is to bring ear plugs. We did and that worked out well.

hot tub safari

What should you pack for Ullswater Heights Glamping?

It’s self-catering, so all your own food, unless you plan to eat at the restaurant (it’s very good). You can order in food from there (pizza is especially popular). There’s a farmshop close by and a Morrisons in Penrith which is about a 15-minute drive. They left us a small bottle of milk, and a few teabags and coffee sachets, and a kitchen starter pack with small washing up liquid, rubbish bag, and couple of towels. There’s some toilet paper.

Other things bring:

  • Extra toilet paper
  • Paper towels
  • Rubbish bags
  • Tin foil/cling film

Pet friendly units are available (at a £49 per pet surcharge)

Non-Smoking

All accommodation is non-smoking accommodation. YAY!

We stayed during COVID-19 and felt very safe. Obviously with self catering it’s easier to stay away. The staff all wore masks. Our tent was sprayed with a Viricidal Fog Solution (fogging) which effectively kills 99.9% of ALL pathogens. They also cleaned everything with anti-virtal solutions. Check in time was later than usual (5 pm) and check out earlier (9 am) to accommodate extra cleaning time. I was also pleased to learn that during the height of the pandemic Ullswater Heights donated accommodation to key worker NHS staff. It’s run by Leisure Resorts which are a great company.

We absolutely loved the glamping tents! They have everything you need and it still feels a bit like camping. Something a little different that the family will love. We will definitely go back, and are even tempted to try them in the colder months, as well as summer.

Best Places To Stay On Your Longleat Hot Tub Break

With its unique location and vast estate, Longleat has plenty of access to neighbouring towns and cities. Pair your safari adventure with a quick stroll along the ancient streets of Bath. For an authentic rural retreat, holidaymakers and glampers will find their next home from home within the town of Bradford-on-Avon. And if you simply want to get lost in the pretty countryside, then Shaftesbury is the place to be. For your next stay in Longleat, take a pick from some of the best holiday destinations:

Bath is a city located in the southwestern region of Somerset. The city itself is built around the Avon Canal and is surrounded by limestone hills from Mendip Hills and the Cotswolds. Due to its stunning landscape and incredible heritage, Bath is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s also the largest settlement in the county, receiving millions of visitors every year.

The city of Bath is famous for many things including its Georgian architecture and Roman-built baths. The latter is located at the heart of the city and within close distance to the historical Bath Abbey. On the other hand, its Georgian style is very much evident through the city’s exteriors and is represented through buildings like the Royal Crescent and the Circus. Bath is also closely associated with the famous writer, Jane Austen.

Bradford-on-Avon

Bradford-on-Avon is a picturesque town within the borders of Wiltshire. The town is dominated by valleys and hillsides with the River Avon connecting it to the city of Bath. Although generally smaller than its neighbours, the town is rich in history with ruins dating back to Roman times. Holidaymakers also frequent the area for its charming architecture and idyllic atmosphere.

The town is best known for its heritage sites including the Tithe Barn, which is believed to be the biggest medieval barn in England. It’s also synonymous with the Town Bridge. This bridge is the most iconic structure of Bradford-on-Avon featuring nine arches and a small domed chapel. The trek up St. Margaret’s Hill is also a favourite trail among holidaymakers who want a panoramic view of the town’s countryside.

Shaftesbury

Shaftesbury is a town located in Dorset and is known for its hilly streets and sprawling farmlands. With its beautiful landscapes and charming homes, it’s considered one of the prettiest towns in the county. Like many rural towns, Shaftesbury has a deep history with its fair share of age-old ruins. This includes Shaftesbury Abbey, a nunnery that was believed to have been established in 888. Another worthy structure is St. Peter’s Church, a Grade-II listed building that is now being used as the town hall.

While most tourists would associate the town as a holiday destination, the rest of Britain knows Shaftesbury from the “Hovis” commercial. The famous commercial was filmed in Gold Hill, one of the town’s hilltop areas and featured a young boy riding his bicycle with a loaf of bread in his basket. It was an extremely popular advert during the 1970s and drove tourism up for this quiet little town. That’s not all though – Shaftesbury also has fascinating museums, lovely outdoor parks, and gorgeous gardens boasting its own flower called “Shaftesbury Snowdrops.”
