Michael Bublé, the multi-Grammy, multi-Juno award winning artist was a man on a mission when he signed his record deal with Reprise Records almost two decades ago and with the imminent release of his new studio album in 2022, he continues his journey but with even more passion.

First, he made a vow to himself to not only keep the flames of the great classics of the American Songbook alive and well-to not only breathe new life into them-but to bring his singular style, vocal power, and his love to these timeless tunes.

Secondly, he was going to write number one pop hits that would become classics unto themselves.

Third and most crucial for him was to bring all this music together in concert and take his audiences on a special journey-to give them an evening they would never forget.

Every night, he would sing his heart out, serenade them with beautiful love songs, make them laugh, cry, dance and enthrall sold out crowds in arenas and stadiums in countries around the world. He wanted his shows to be legendary.

Clearly, he has succeeded on all these fronts, even beyond his own wildest dreams. The multi-platinum singer/songwriter/producer/humanitarian is officially a global phenomenon and shows no signs of slowing down as fans will hear this year with his new album and tour.

Michael Bublé at AO Arena Manchester - stage times, seating plan, parking, setlist and tickets update

"It's a party! It's not a show, it's a party!"

michael buble uk tour 2023 setlist

There is no higher love than Manchester's enduring passion for Michael Bublé. The city's love affair with the King of Swing has seen "Bublé-mania" on previous visits here over his past two decades in showbiz.

Audiences here simply cannot get enough of the Canadian superstar's big band musical extravaganzas, with plenty of Bublé humour along the way. He will play to some 30,000 of his devoted fans over two packed out AO Arena gigs this weekend.

He's back in the UK on his first arena tour for four years, the Higher tour, and he's back with a bang. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of his debut album, fans can certainly expect all the big hits as well as his best-loved covers celebrating the Great American Songbook.

Fresh from his latest Grammy-win, Michael was full of energy on the opening night of the UK tour at the end of March at London's 02 Arena. And the show was full of everything die-hards have come to expect - including an extravagant stage set, smooth serenading and of course his trademark wit.

Photos: Michael Bublé at AO Arena Manchester 2023

On that occasion he told fans: “Tonight is a celebration of life. Through a whole pandemic, we spent so much time eating alone, watching Netflix alone…having sex alone! Not tonight…not tonight.

He continued. "Tonight is a celebration of being together again, it’s a party! It’s not a show, it’s a party!".

Manchester expects nothing less, of course, for his arrival here on Friday and Saturday night at the AO Arena . He will be flanked by his full live orchestra for what is set to be two more memorable Manchester nights.

If you're heading along, we've put together some useful info about what to expect.

Stage times

Doors open for the Michael Bublé concerts at 6pm on both Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22.

There is no support act for the tour, and the time being given for the show to start is 7.30pm. On his first night in Manchester, on April 21, he arrived on stage just after 7.40pm.

As with all concerts, timings are subject to change so the best advice is always to arrive in plenty of time to be seated for the main show.

michael buble uk tour 2023 setlist

Similarly, all setlists are liable to change on tours. But here's what Michael sang on his first night at the 02 Arena in London on March 26, 2023.

Are tickets still available?

After Manchester he heads on out across the UK including to Leeds, Aberdeen, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Glasgow. You can find all the latest ticket availability at Michael's website here .

Seating plan

Is there parking at the AO Arena?

Yes, there is a large multi-storey car park based next to the AO Arena, with access through the car park to the main entrance of the venue. Be aware though that after the shows, Trinity Way will be closed southbound between Great Ducie Street and Cheetham Hill Road for up to one hour, to allow concert-goers to safely exit the venue.

If you’re parking at the arena car park, you will still be allowed to exit during this closure but you will have to turn right and follow local diversions.

There are some 7,000 parking spaces at car parks within a short walk to the arena as well.

What are the public transport options?

The AO Arena is within the Manchester Victoria Train Station complex, which serves both mainline trains and a tram stop.

The AO Arena has a few strict policies to keep gig-goers safe, so make sure to check  entry requirements carefully before you travel.

Ben’s Cookies, one of the most legendary bakeries in the UK, has finally opened its first location here in Greater Manchester.

Since launching in the Trafford Centre the bright red bakery stall has had queues snaking all the way down the concourse.

It’s pretty easy to see why – these cookies are ultra-soft with a perfect crunch to the outside.

They’re baked with chunks, not chips, so you’ll always get a proper gooey filling.

Ben’s Cookies has been a staple for sweet treats down south for 40 years, since launching in Oxford’s Covered Market in 1984.

It was launched by cookery writer and self-confessed chocaholic Helge Rubinstein and is still going strong today, with locations across the UK.

But until now they’ve never made it into the north west.

Ben's Cookies has opened at the Trafford Centre in Greater Manchester

With flavours including triple chocolate, white chocolate and cranberry, chocolate orange, and caramelised biscuit, if you can walk past without grabbing a box full you’ve got more willpower than us.

Ben’s Cookies are served in signature red boxes or metal gift tins, with a character sketched by the legendary illustrator Quentin Blake, who also did the Roald Dahl books.

There are 14 different flavours sold here, each one rolled and baked fresh on site so they’re usually still warm when you pick up your box.

You can find the new Ben’s Cookies in the Trafford Centre in Greater Manchester, on the upper floor near Boots.

The Manc

If you live in Manchester, you’ll be quite used to the chatter surrounding our city’s legendary musical offering, football heritage and art scene.

But, fear not, bookworms: for those of you who spend most of your leisure buried in books, there’s a rich written lineage here in Manchester too and if you’d rather seek out quieter ways to spend your downtime, there are plenty of bookish hidey-holes right in the city centre .

After all, iconic writers such as Emmeline Pankhurst, Lemn Sissay and Elizabeth Gaskell; Anthony Burgess, Jeanette Winterson, John Cooper Clarke and countless others have all called this place home

So, pop your reading glasses on and come with me on a tour of our literary city and some of the best reading spots in Manchester.

The best places to read in Manchester city centre

1. portico library.

With 19th-century texts stacked up high to its majestic, domed ceiling, this library feels like an uncovered secret, tucked away from the bustle of Piccadilly Gardens . You’re free to wander around, enjoy their exhibitions and peer through their ‘Handling Shelf’ of vintage literature.

Entry is free and it costs just a tenner for a weekly Reader pass, giving you access to the exclusive, private reading room at the back of the building. Give Portico a go.

2. House of Books and Friends

This beautiful bookshop and social space on King Street is just as stunning on the inside as its extraordinary exterior. It’s also one of our favourite cosy little spots for a brew in the city centre.

Daylight pours through the enormous windows into their café area, where they run regular events, book clubs, and author interviews to tackle loneliness in the reading community.

Books and mates , what more could you ask for?

michael buble uk tour 2023 setlist

3. John Rylands Library

Part of the University of Manchester, you could say that John Rylands is the spiritual home of books in our city and probably the closest thing you’ll find to a real-life Hogwarts.

With its impressive neo-Gothic architecture and catalogue of more than 250,000 publications, the sweeping stone arches and stained-glass windows give the impression that you’ve stumbled into a place of worship. It’s also set to undergo a multi-million-pound renovation in the coming years.

Every year thousands of internationals visit these hallowed halls to pay homage to the written word and it’s not hard to see why, just look at it. A truly magical place.

4. Chetham’s Library

If John Rylands is the cathedral in Manchester’s literary kingdom, then its spookier, medieval counterpart, Chetham’s Library , is surely our castle. Nestled behind a stone gateway in Cathedral Gardens and around the corner from Victoria, this is the oldest library in the English-speaking world.

It was originally set up as a priest’s college but in 1595 it became home to Dr John Dee, Queen Elizabeth I’s warden, who was a famed alchemist, academic, magician and occultist. According to legend, in between séances, Dr Dee supposedly summoned Satan himself.

If you’re feeling devilish, book on to one of the library tours where you can touch the scorch mark Beelzebub’s hoofprint left on the original table. See if you can spot the eerie death masks and carved devil’s face peering out from the shadows, as well. There’s some real history to this place .

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Chetham's School of Music (@chethams_school)

5. QueerLit

Across town, you’ll find a door into a more specific corner of Manchester’s reading community. Historically, the stories of LGBTQ+ people have been silenced and that’s why QueerLit is such a special place; this place is all about celebrating inclusion and bringing those narratives back to the forefront.

A fifteen-minute stroll away from the thrum of Canal Street, they stock thousands of titles in their Northern Quarter shop, including authors and characters representing a diverse, queer readership, covering everything from historic fiction to comic books.

Not just a great reading spot for people in Manchester but an important one too.

@the.manc The perfect shop for pride month #manchester #pride #lgbtq ♬ Coffee & Books – JerryJeyy

6. Chapter One Books

The final stop on our literary tour is Chapter One, a cosy café and bookshop with a whole range of welcoming clubs to help you meet other like-minded folk — there’s a real community vibe here.

Their friendly groups cover creative writing, meditation, and poetry, as well as introductory sessions to woodwork and sculpture. They also have the wonderful Middle East-inspired Gulf coffee and teahouse in the back which, like any good book, is one of the most transportive places little rooms in town.

That’s not all. There is, of course, the mighty Central Library on St Peter’s Square, and across the city there are dozens of other public libraries and independent bookshops for you to duck into.

No matter where you are in Manchester next time the rain starts to fall, you can always take shelter between the pages of a good book.

And if you’d like to hear more from the wonderful Katie McCall, you can check out her uncanny, gothic fiction and short stories which have been published right here in the UK and over in the US.
