Top 4 airlines serving from midway to las vegas.

Mario was great. Made a night flight on a small aircraft pleasant and memorable.

It was great I love flying Delta and have never had a bad experience with them

They were 2 hours late departing with no explanation. I missed my connection, was rebooked not in correct seating that I paid for. Over all of was horrible. I now know why I've not flown Delta since 2018

I love the free wifi and headrest screens. I would consider Delta even more because of this but the seats aren't so great. The snacks aren't very good in my opinion. I bought a Bloody Mary and that was great! So just be comfortable with better snacks and the airline world will be yours.

Crew was not helpful. Other passengers in first class were over served blatantly over intoxicated.

We just spent $6000 on our first trip since pre COVID and we were stranded on the runway of our departing airport for 2 hours and 15 minutes while our layover was only an hour and a half. We were told by the pilot we were next for de-icing and then got bumped by 3 other planes. Pilot went on to say they only had one guy working the de-icing where they usually have at least 2. In Rochester. In the heart of winter. Someone missed a step and should be fired. I'm not done.

Food service was bare-bone. Better bot to have any at all rather than hand out premade coffees and cookies to random few passengers.

Bag drop off was slow and annoying. Only 2 agents at the entire delta desk, and no one directing traffic for what line to be in, many confused people slowed down the process. Boarding was fine. Seats in Delta comfort plus were fine. Snacks were great! Definitely a bonus. The entertainment system was awful — old, slow, not responsive, and completely unable to play games due to some kind of error. But on the other hand, thank you to Delta for the free WiFi. That made it better.

Crew were exceptional. Plane was quiet and quite empty, so I had a row to sleep across.

Everything would be much better if Kayak stopped nosing into my business with Delta.

The flight from Ottawa to Chicago took a lot longer due to DC in Ottawa. We got to Chicago and went to our gate to catch our flight. We only had nine minutes I found that very stressful.

Good boarding. Crew started quick with drinks and food. They came around several times for trash which I really liked. Other than turbulence due to storms in the area, flight was great.

The control panel for the seat back screen did not work at all after takeoff.

Plane was so old it had cigarette butt trays in the seat

Everything was good, hard to really comfortable on a flight that long.

Unfortunately our flight was delayed by 45 minutes due to Kate arriving aircraft. Once we stated everything was great.

For some strange reason I was put in zone 5 for boarding even though I had paid premium price for a premium seat right behind business class. This must have been a flaw because everyone else around me in the same zone (row) had been placed in zone 3.

Nothing bad to say about the actual crew or airline. It was nice to have a complimentary FULL can of soda, as well as a snack. Blankets and earbuds were also provided at no cost for this red eye flight. I especially appreciated the free WiFi and movie selection with the Bluetooth option. It helped the flight pass more quickly. No matter who you fly, boarding and disembarking are always SUCH a pain. As I mentioned, this is on the passengers and not the crew!!

Food choice was poor and we had to buy on board snacks.

Upgrade planes to have larger overhead bins, especially on this popular route and first class. Easy flight to Chicago, good service in first class. Can't wait for seatback entertainment to be brought back. I like the free wifi and messaging with T-Mobile. Although, the tray tables are not big enough to work even on a small laptop - so why is it called "business" class? Flight attendant said that the flight was too short to even serve water. I've flown that route several times, and that is the first time I ever heard that. No chargers in the seats. Rough landing.

A solid 5 stars. Could it have been better? Not for that price!! The crew was well humored and kind. The process was easy and efficient. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Flight was delayed 2+ hours missed a concert because of it…

Lack of accessable charging stations, very uncomfortable seats the savings are not worth it when nickled and dimed for amenities that are standard on other airlines

Overall good service and good flight. Flights were quick and early.

The worst customer service that I have ever experienced. They upcharge you for bags and the gate agent shoved my phone in my face. We contacted Spirit customer service and they did not help us. I will never fly spirit again

I was not told that I could not have a carry-on. Then I was charged $99 to bring my bag on. The same bag that is free to have on other flights. Overhead compartments were not even full. There were not even free drinks on board. This is the chintziest airline ever and I will never fly it again. Cheap in quality and they trick you into added fees that you don't realize until it's too late.

Compared to other airlines, this was a bit sub par in my honest opinion. My flight back was better than my departure flight.

Okay, cost of baggage and bidding for a seat is weird.

Horrible experience. 1st we were over an hour late. 2nd waited to board for 2hrs 3rd got off/on plane 2 times 4th each time we got on the plane we sat in rhe plane for 1 to 2 hours with no updated or water 5th we were given literally 4 different answers as to why we werent in the air yet

The flight experience was great. Due to charging for any thing outside of flight i can’t comment on amenities.

The check in at the airport was awful. Told I need to pay for a bag. The item was taken at screening. I went back to get my $ back and they gave me a coupon with a QR code that doesn’t work. Worst costumer service ever!!!!!

Our flight was on time and unremarkable which I'm grateful for, as it is not the norm traveling these days. Frontier is a low-cost carrier and it really shows when compared to other "normal" carriers. They don't even give you water during the flight. The coach seats are decent, however it was not as clean as it should be. We had crumbs all over the floor by our seats.

Flying frontier reminded me of flying with my family in the 80’s in all of the worst ways possible. From poor customer service to little to no technology. The plane was dirty old and also stuck in the 80’s. From their seatbelts to not having anywhere to charge our phones the seats and the equipment I wasn’t sure if I was being punked or thrown back in time. Needless to say I don’t see myself flying frontier ever again.

4 hour delay because they used our aircraft to fly a different segment (per the captain)

Lost baggage on my connecting flight. 24 hours later, still no update on my bags.

They lost my baggage on my connection flight, it’s been 24 hours since I put my claim in and still no update on my bags.

As per ultra-low-cost-carrier model, you must adjust to a minimalist approach (or, pay-as-you-go mentality) when evaluating Frontier. That said, here's the pro/con of this trip. PROs Pricing. Incredibly cheap: $30 roundtrip(!!) PDX-PHX. Hard to complain. Schedule: Direct both ways. Pilot made up time and we got in 15-20 mins early each way. Aircraft. Frontier flies Airbus metal, and the aircraft are pretty new. Seating. Airline status-match got me upgraded 'Stretch' seating (their premium economy). *Excellent* legroom. The leather trimmed seats were adequately comfortable. Some of these upgraded seats have recline (this flight did not), and larger tray tables. Compared to standard Frontier economy, which has very tight seating, and ridiculously small tray tables, it was quite nice. Aircrew: The flight attendants on both legs were top tier. Experience, confidence, and customer service skills exceeded what I have seen on the legacy carriers. This is not always true with Frontier, but this team was exemplary. Food-for-sale. Frontier offers no complimentary snacks/bevs except ice water. Purchased a cheese pack and it was adequate and about as expensive as you'd see on a legacy carrier. CONs No power at seats. True on all Frontier flights, but a bummer nonetheless. Bring a battery. No inflight entertainment. Load your own offline before flying. No wifi available. Honestly, with Frontier's upsell model, it still surprises me they don't equip their planes for this and use it as a revenue stream. Heck, for a $30 rt flight, I'd probably have paid $10-15 each way for wifi + movies. Overall, you know going in about the CONs of the carrier model, so really the complaints are minor. I had a day trip to Phoenix for a $30 flight. Great value.

I had to cancel within 1hour of the reservation an they put you through hell to . no live customer service desk. I'm handy caped and they make it almost impossible to cancel. They are steeling my money. You should not have that airline on your site. Contact me and I will give you all info. Of what the are doing to me just notable treatment they are set up like that to take people

The flight was delayed and I had to cancel because I would have missed my connection and there were no other flights for the next two days. They also lost my bag!!

They didn’t bother to restock the plane before we left, so most items on the menu were not available.

How to Travel From Chicago to Las Vegas by Train, Bus, Car, and Plane

trip to las vegas from chicago

TripSavvy / Julie Bang

There are many ways to travel from Chicago to Las Vegas. If you’ve ever wanted to take a cross-country road trip that slices through Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, and Nevada (covering 1,747 miles), then this might be the exact adventure you’ve been yearning for.

Flying from one city to another is the quickest route, undoubtedly, and you’ll find that airfare prices are quite affordable. Driving is a great way to see a lot of our country in one big trip, and you can stop at several points of interest along the way as you make your way through six states. If you don’t have your own vehicle, you’ll have to consider the extra cost of renting one as well as paying for gas, which can get relatively expensive. Trains and buses are also readily available; however, it will take much longer to get from point A to point B, it’s not very cost-effective, and you’ll likely be less comfortable than if you traveled via air or a personal vehicle. Another option is to take a train part way and then fly part way. This combination might be a good option for those that want to shake it up and try a different mode of transportation or spend more time in some states but not others.

How to Get from Chicago to Las Vegas

Travelers can take the Amtrak , on a limited schedule, from Chicago Union Station to the Greyhound station in Las Vegas. You’ll have to be prepared for 77-hour travel time as it’s significantly more time consuming than other modes of transportation. Another option is to take the train to South Bend International Airport or Milwaukee Intermodal Station and then make arrangements to fly to Las Vegas from either location.

The biggest advantage of traveling via train is that you won’t have to worry about traffic or driving in inclement weather and if you’re traveling with a companion, you can mix and mingle instead of having to focus on the rules of the road.

Taking the bus is an option for traveling from one city to the next but it is also one of the modes of transportation that will take the longest as there are no direct routes. Traffic and weather are also considerations to factor into the equation as well as the fact that you’ll have to transfer in St. Louis, a third of the way through the trip. The price point is less expensive than the train, however, it is more expensive than flying.

The Greyhound bus station is located at the Chicago Amtrak Bus Station at Chicago Union Station, located at 225 S. Canal Street. The Las Vegas bus station can be found at 200 S. Main Street. The biggest advantage of taking the bus is that you won’t have to drive or navigate across the country and, if you’re afraid of flying or you just try to avoid it altogether, then this might be an ideal option for your needs.

Traveling by car is perfect for folks that enjoy a road trip. You can travel at your own pace, see the sites and attractions in each state as you drive through, and experience a vacation on your own terms. As you travel west on I-88, I-80, I-76, I-70, and I-15, you’ll pass through Des Moines, Omaha, and Denver. Las Vegas is two hours behind Chicago, operating on the Pacific Standard time zone.

You can expect to pay between $170 and $260 in gas and tolls and you’ll have to consider overnight accommodations, food, and entertainment costs. Parking in Las Vegas is also quite expensive at the hotels and limited in and around the touristy areas like the strip. Traveling during the off-season or shoulder season, however, might curb some of these costs.

There are several advantages to traveling via car. You can see a lot of the country by visiting each state, making the road trip an adventure that includes much more than Las Vegas. Driving is cheaper and more comfortable than taking the bus or train, however, you’ll have to factor in hotel prices, gas, tolls, and the like when making your decision.

Flights from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) or Chicago Midway Airport (MDW) leave for Las Vegas, Nevada throughout the day, every day, serviced by: Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, American Airlines, Delta, Spirit Airlines, and Frontier Airlines. Allegiant Airlines also services Las Vegas, however, they only operate flights on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Southwest Airlines and Delta leave Chicago for Las Vegas hourly. Flights are just over four hours and range in price.

The biggest advantage of flying to Las Vegas from Chicago is that it’s the quickest, most affordable, and most comfortable mode of transportation between the cities. There are lots of options, frequent flight times, and, overall, it’s the easiest way to reach your destination.

What to See in Las Vegas

Las Vegas offers around-the-clock entertainment and, in fact, it’s easy to lose track of time in this city, especially if you hit the table games or slots. From big magic shows, like Penn and Teller, to live musical acts, to Cirque du Soleil, to comedy shows, there’s no shortage of amusing things to do in Las Vegas , whether you’re traveling with friends or your significant other.

Stay in a classic hotel, like the Bellagio, The Mirage Hotel & Casino, or MGM Grand Hotel & Casino; or travel the world with accommodations at New York-New York Hotel & Casino, Paris Las Vegas, or the Venetian Resort Las Vegas. After a late night of gambling, partying, or seeing a show, you can sleep in, order room service, and take a midday swim in the pool to recharge your batteries.

Of course, there’s much to do off the famous strip as well. Make sure you visit old Vegas and spend time downtown on Fremont Street (you can even zip-line here). See the retired signs at the outdoor Neon Museum . Hoover Dam and Lake Mead are also nearby.

Conveniently located for all of this is the stunning Omni Oklahoma City Hotel, with its beautifully furnished rooms, memorable city view and all-round exceptional service.

The rooftop pool is open all year round and with a drink in hand, it becomes a great place to spend the majority of an afternoon.

Just make sure you tick at least one attraction off your Oklahoma City "must-see list". We'd recommend the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum as your one essential dose of culture!

Best time to go on a road trip from Chicago to Las Vegas

The road trip from Chicago to Las Vegas is best enjoyed in fall and spring when the weather is pleasantly moderate. If you don't mind big crowds, you could visit Las Vegas in the winter when most tourist flock. Summer tends to be very hot with temperatures averaging around mid-90 degrees Fahrenheit and sometimes exceeding 100 degrees.

The desirable period to look out for your trip are March and May, when it is fairly easy to book yourself a room at a great price. The weather is warm, hovering at high 70s to low 80s. It is advisable to pack some light layers, because it tends to get chilly at night and be on the lookout for exciting events around that time.

Furthermore, when autumn comes around, temperatures as well as tourist traffic diel down. Temperatures in the 80s and 90s are to be expected around mid-November and early October.

Once December come around the corner, the weather gets cold and chilly, yet tourist rates go back up around winter events.

No matter when you decide to visit “the Entertainment Capital of the World”, a great idea would be to book at least 2 weeks in advance. Some people even avoid weekends because Las Vegas tends to be very crowded during holidays due to it being a very common weekend getaway destination.

What are the cheapest flights to, from Las Vegas?

A study involving more than 6,000 air fare itineraries shows Las Vegas holding its own on the price of tickets on flights to Harry Reid International Airport.

Rick Velotta

Las Vegas continues to hold its own as an inexpensive airline destination, according to a new analysis conducted by an expert who tracks airline ticket pricing and loyalty programs.

Alex Miller, founder and CEO of Upgraded Points, recently conducted a study that included 6,000 different flight itineraries, analyzing ticket prices and price per mile. The study also compared pricing for 2024 against 2023 prices.

The analysis shows some of the shortest routes from Harry Reid International Airport are among the most expensive per mile and have risen in cost the most. Miller used all itineraries in his analysis, not just nonstop flights.

“Despite sharp increases in ticket prices since before the pandemic, 2023 marked a record year for U.S. air travel. While there is some hope for relief moving into 2024, airline prices remain high,” said Miller in the report’s introduction.

“To help travelers navigate this new normal, Upgraded Points analyzed the most recent airfare data from the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics and calculated average ticket prices for every flight segment in the U.S.,” he said.

Miller said that compared with the early 2000s, today’s ticket prices are approximately 40 percent lower after accounting for inflation. For reference, the average airfare in early 2001 was $348, equivalent to more than $600 in today’s dollars.

The most popular destination to and from Las Vegas: Los Angeles, with an average 6,987 daily passengers. The report showed the average one-way fare to be $126.40, or 54 cents a mile, and the price of a ticket increased 8.8 percent from a year ago.

With 5,902 daily passengers, flights to San Francisco were second-most popular. The average fare was $146.77, or 35 cents a mile and ticket prices rose 7.3 percent from last year.

New York City was third on the list from Las Vegas with an average 4,385 daily passengers and an average fare of $321.46, 14 cents a mile, with ticket prices climbing 4.1 percent from a year ago.

Miller said shorter flights generally are more expensive than longer hauls per mile with the price flattening out at about 500 to 1,000 miles. He said it’s generally less expensive to drive on trips of less than 250 miles.

Other details about Las Vegas flights:

■ The lowest per-mile destination to and from Las Vegas was 4 cents, between Reid and Sanford International Airport, a secondary airport in Orlando, Florida.

■ The most expensive city pairing from Las Vegas was to and from Key West, Florida, with an average one-way airfare of $507.36, or 24 cents per mile.

■ The average cost of one-way airfare between Las Vegas and Key West, Florida, increased 6.9 percent year over year.

There were some flights to Las Vegas in which fares declined. Among them: San Antonio, Texas, down 12.3 percent to $216.28; Tampa, Florida, down 12.2 percent to $216.28; Orlando, Florida, down 8.8 percent to $223.10; Portland, Oregon, down 8.1 percent to $166.07; Washington, D.C., down 6.8 percent to $293.91; Miami, Florida, down 6.8 percent to $236.74; Charlotte, North Carolina, down 4.6 percent to $284.93; San Diego, California, down 2.1 percent to $113.82; and Boston, Massachusetts, down 1 percent to $320.74.

The biggest fare increase to and from Las Vegas was Reno, up 19.2 percent to $169.97, or 49 cents a mile.

The study found that seven of the 10 most expensive trips in the country were between New York City and Florida destinations and with flights to airports near the Colorado ski resorts of Aspen and Vail and to Sun Valley, Idaho.

At $770 one-way, the Aspen to West Palm Beach/Palm Beach. Florida, segment is the most expensive flight in the U.S. and is 25 percent more expensive than a year ago.

5. Game Calling- people put all kinds of random stuff on their chairs and leave credits in the machine to call games when they go to the br. I have seen their tickets go missing a few times- dumb idea.

I like this list. What would you call someone that does weird stuff with slots in terms of their bets. I remember one old woman trying to give me advice once, she was saying you have to warm up the machine and not do max bet right away. Of course nonsense and I'd never not play max bet in case that spin is "the one".

"We (Me and my gf)"

I see people play 1 credit, 2 credits, 3 credits, ect. And rotate.

Ticket Traders- I also see people eject tickets after they win and put in new money as if the machine thinks you are a new player and will now not count the win against you.

It Wasn't Me/ I Ain't No Playa- I also see people take out their players card when they hit a bonus as if the game forgets it is you. You best believe if you hit a jackpot it is recorded on your player's card for taxes.

My favourite ones are the tipsters at the roulette tables. They always know which number is the next winning number. Only thing, that I don't understand, that these guys are never playing just giving a tip. 😁

Has anyone ever heard someone in a casino shout "Winner winner, chicken dinner"?

I never have but it would make me smile if I ever did.

I know 2salty says it in his TRs, which I like 😄

"Has anyone ever heard someone in a casino shout "Winner winner, chicken dinner"?

I have definitely shouted it. I've also known a few dealers say it too. It's a great phrase!

The ticket traders make some sense as long as it's just money management. Cash out your winnings and pocket them, then play a different bill that's part of a day's bankroll. Theoretically, you can bank your winnings and only play a set amount you are willing to lose.

The real annoyances are the people who camp out on a slot chair without playing. They have their bags, lost all their money and sit there like Debbie Downers ruining the vibe in the casino. If you're broke, find a cup and a spot on a bridge to sit.

When you get a bunch of wilds on your screen, but a stupid bonus symbol or 2 keeps you from getting the most out of your wins. We call it a cock blocker. Can I say that??

"The heat in Las Vegas can also make it challenging for older adults to spend extended periods outside, especially during the summer months."</p><p>He adds that the Strip, where many of the popular hotels and <a rel="noopener noreferrer external nofollow" href="https://bestlifeonline.com/fanciest-casinos-us/">casinos</a> are located, can also be challenging for seniors to navigate. "The large size of the buildings and the need to constantly walk or stand may be physically taxing for older adults. Many attractions in Las Vegas also require a lot of walking, which can make it hard for seniors to fully enjoy all that the city has to offer," he explains.<p><strong>RELATED: <a rel="noopener noreferrer external nofollow" href="https://bestlifeonline.com/best-warm-weather-travel-seniors-news/">The Best Warm Weather Travel Destinations for Seniors</a>.</strong></p></p>

The fact that New York is one of the most bustling and energetic cities in the United States can be a blessing and a curse. But for older adults—especially those with mobility issues—it may pose more risk than reward.

"The city is known for its crowded streets, busy public transportation systems, and fast-paced lifestyle," says Kroeger. "You'll often see people, especially corporate workers, rushing to get from one place to the next, which can be overwhelming for seniors who may have mobility issues or slower walking speeds. The people around them may not be as patient or accommodating when it comes to slowing down or making space for seniors to get around comfortably."
