Quanjude Roast Duck (Wangfujing)

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

We ordered half of the duck, one fried rice, two side dishes and one dessert plus one pot of tea and added up about 430RMB, not super cheap but for the quality and service of the restaurant I would said it is a good experience.... The staff was friendly and assisted to teach us how to do the wrap in local way. We had a very filling lunch. More

This place seems to be a bit of an institution, with long queues, branded fans and Chinese visitors having their photos taken. We joined the queue, thinking it would be a good place to try Peking duck, however after queueing for over an hour we... were a bit underwhelmed with the actual duck. The chef came and carved it by our table and we had a fun tray of starters, but not sure it was worth the wait! More

The service is great but the roast duck was average. Don't find any reason to go there again. I always prefer piping hot food but the duck served although hot a hot plate over a flame was cold.

The experience was great. We got a bit lost during the waiting as numbers were called only in Chinese. Once seated, we chose the roasted duck and it came in around 30 minutes, freshly made. The waiter was also mindful of my son’s allergy and... used a translator to help. He also give us a quick “course” on how to eat roasted duck. More

Wonderful presentation, the peking duck is cut by chefs in the room you are seated and they are skilled at what they do. Tasty and beautifully presented, as non Chinese speakers they coped well with our requests. We had a whole duck between 2 and... whilst lovely next time we would have less duck and a little variety. More

We had late lunch at Quanjude Wangfujing branch at about 1.30pm on a Friday. There was no crowd & no queue. We ordered a set lunch for 2 persons at CNY 460. It includes half Bejing duck, stir fried broccoli, fried prawn, fruit platter, a... jug of passion fruit drink & side dishes. Food serving was of good portion, sufficient for two persons. Staff was attentive & welcoming. Overall, we had an enjoyable meal and would recommend this restaurant. More

Quanjude serve up an excellent Beijing duck in elegant dining rooms. It's not cheap. On this occasion I also tried a beef dish and had to return it. The meat was so tough that it was impossible to chew, completely inedible. The restaurant took the... dish off the bill without any quibble. But that should not have to happen. More

Honestly, only roast duck worth to try. Though I don’t find it best (I did try other brand before too), but at least won’t go too wrong cause it’s their signature. As for other dishes, if you’re a Chinese who always eat Chinese food and... can also cook Chinese food, then you can totally skip other dishes. We tried a few their top rated dishes, surprisingly not nice at all. Braised pork tough, meat puff too oily and not crispy, duck heart 鸭心 too dry.. More

On reviews we thought we’d dine at ‘the best Peking Duck restaurant’ in Beijing. We ordered a whole duck. The chef wheeled it out and began carving. What we got was a plate of duck breast and the rest was taken away. Over-rated and over... priced in my opinion. I would not suggest you dine here unless you have lots of $$$. More

We visited China In June for my Son's Wedding and he and his lovely Wife took us on a tour of Beijing. They wanted to treat us to an expensive Peking Duck Restaurant known for its Specialty. We stayed at the TianAn Rega Hotel for... 5 days which is only a 10 minute walk from the busy Wangfujin area. We arrived at 7pm, and had to wait 30 minutes because it was very crowded, we did not mind waiting. Service was a bit slow, and we ordered the Peking Duck and some other dishes. The beef dish with vegetables was good but the Duck was overpriced and small and not worth eating. The taste was OK. When you go to Beijing, you HAVE to try the Peking Duck they say..... but my husband was disappointed in the Peking Duck. In Canada, we have Pekiing Duck on special occassions and for that price, you get a 2 course meal and you are full ! Needless to say, the best Restaurant in Beijing that we enjoyed was a Hakka Chinese Restaurant tucked away in the corner about 5 minutes from our hotel. More

I hate even spending time writing this review and retrieving memories about one of the worst experience with Chinese food. And it was pricey. I left most of the food and I am not picky when I travel, but I was totally disappointed to have... included this restaurant in my plans. The only thing I can say is that if you are looking for a tasty peking duck and a clean restaurant in the same area you can cross the road and go to Da Dong Roast Duck (Jinbao Place). It was cheaper and the best peking duck I have ever tried. More

I’ve been here several times on my PEK trips and always have a very good experience. This particular visit was on November 15, 2009 at their Qianmen Xidajie location.. While this restaurant has been around for well over 100 years and some consider it to... be the “McDonald’s” of Peking Duck, it is in my opinion consistently excellent and a good value for the money. For the first time visitor, it’s a quasi-requirement to take a photo in front of their iconic bright yellow duck just outside of the restaurant! The restaurant itself is surprisingly large- with one very large main dining room- filled with 4-person tables- complete with chandelier ceilings and local architecture motif. There are private rooms for larger parties or groups. The service is excellent and timely. The menu is a bit limited as you’re here for the featured item- the duck! They do have a few other options on the menu such as roasted chicken and fish as well.. The beverage list is reasonable and features a number of local beers. You can order your duck as an a la carte meal, but it’s a better value to order it as a complete meal which will include the duck as well as the regular accompaniments such as thin ‘pancake’-like wrappers, a selection of sauces and assorted vegetables.. The staff will also show you how to properly eat duck using the pancake-like wrapper and the sauces. When you order is ready, the whole duck is brought out table side—beautifully roasted to a deep golden brown. One of their chef / carvers will expertly carve your duck, leaving nearly nothing left on the body. It’s a sight not to be missed and a good photo-op too! In a matter of less than three minutes the chef will have the duck all properly carved and plated by section and presented to you on communal (family style) plates in the center of your table. The duck it self is juicy and tender, excellent to say the least. The highlight in my opinion is the skin—crispy, tasty and not too oily! This isn’t a fancy place and you need not dress up to come here.. But if you want excellent duck, good service and a fair price—this place is it. Pros: The duck itself- excellently prepared and served—all at a very good price. Cons: Mass seating in one large dining room, filled with 4-person tables, not the most intimate setting, but not unpleasant either. More

If you like American chinese fast food you will love this. Just like Panda Express, without the “express” part. Kung Pao was overpoweringly sweet, lamb was ALL fat, and snow peas had zero flavor. I can’t figure out why this place is so highly rated!!??... Do not waste your money or time for this crap. The best part of the meal was the soda water we ordered! More

If you're in Beijing and looking for a Beijing Duck experience, look no further than Quanjude. I've been in Beijing 7 years and here's why I always take my guests to Quanjude. The atmosphere and locations are five star with Chinese characteristics. Is it the... best duck in Beijing? Hmmm. It's not bad, Dadong is pretty good, Made in China is yummy, Li Qun is traditional. Basically Quanjude has its place in history as one of a bunch of top Beijing Duck places. You can argue the toss on who's the best. I'd say 4 out of 5 for the duck. But - Quanjude wins on its restaurant atmosphere and all the locations I've eaten at are all good. Five star for fun and price. It's noisy, Chinese red gold bling bling bling, family orientated, multiple floors of loud slurping duck munching families. The menu is a point and pick style and really 80 percent duck. One fish dish and some vegetables. But it's all about the duck and only the duck here. That's what makes it great. The other top Duck places in Beijing are good, possibly more refined duck to be eaten. But for visitors if you want Chinese family style duck. This is good. And the price very reasonable. You can book, but just as much fun just turn up with no booking and take a number to be seated. It's all part of the fun. They only shout the numbers in Chinese but if you let the girls calling the numbers know you don't speak Chinese and show them your number they will remember to point at you when the time comes. Service here is brutal tho, somewhere between prison guard and unhappy air steward on a budget airline. Expect no pampering. In return they expect no tip. It's a perfect combination of focus on the business of eating duck. Fancy? No way. This place is casual family duck eating. Wear whatever you like. Shorts. T shirts. I've even seen some 阿姨叔叔 in pajamas one time. Wine. Limited. Chinese only. Beer is Yanjing. Smoking. Not in the public dining areas but OK in the private rooms.you can even buy your favorite cigarettes off the menus. Now that's what I call a Chinese restaurant! More

  • Beijing duck is called "the first dish to taste in China" . It has a long history: it used to be a royal dish in medieval China and gradually spread to civil society later.
  • Beijing duck was appointed as one of the national dishes for the reception of foreign guests by Premier Zhou Enlai (the first Premier of the people's republic of China) since the 1970s. It is highly praised by heads of state, government officials, and domestic and foreign tourists.
  • As Beijing is the capital of China, and Beijing roast duck is the most famous dish in Beijing, it has gained ultimate prestige as a China dish.

Duck is a traditional meat in China, and the dish was originally called shāo yāzi (燒鴨子, simply 'roast duck') in the Tang Dynasty (618–907) . A fresh duck was grilled over a wood or charcoal fire. On this basis, the cooking method was continually improved by later generations.

Its cooking method was mentioned in the 'Complete Recipes for Dishes and Beverages' (飲膳正要) manual in 1330 by Hu Sihui (忽思慧), who was an inspector for the imperial kitchen. It was one of the main dishes on imperial court menus by then (the Yuan Dynasty).

In 1368 , the Ming Dynasty was founded, and the capital was re-established in Nanjing. Imperial chefs cooked a duck by hanging it over a charcoal fire, making it crisp and fragrant, fatty but not greasy. The emperor liked it very much, so the dish was officially named 'roast duck' (烤鴨 kǎo yā) by the imperial court.

During the reign of the Yongle Emperor (1402–24) , third emperor of the Ming Dynasty, he ordered the capital moved from Nanjing to Beijing. In this way, the roast duck recipe was also brought to Beijing. After that, the popularity of roast duck gradually spread to the local citizens. With its popularity in Beijing, this dish became commonly known as 'Beijing roast duck' .

In 1416 , the first known restaurant to specialize in roast duck opened in Beijing, called Bianyifang . There they roasted the duck in a closed oven having first heated the walls of the oven using sorghum stalks to give a crispy finish to the duck.

In 1864 , another famous duck restaurant opened, called Quanjude . There they used a different method of cooking: hanging the duck to roast over flames in an open brick oven. Versions of these two restaurants still exist today, so we recommend you try at least one of them whilst you're visiting Beijing.

By the mid-20th century , Beijing duck had become a national symbol for China, and the top choice dish served when receiving foreign leaders.

An authentic Beijing duck can take up to three days to prepare. It is an intensely complex process with many requirements.

The duck must be of the white Beijing variety and of superior quality, a "force-fed duck" that weighs about three kilograms.

Day one: Slaughter the duck. Pluck, eviscerate, and rinse thoroughly with water. The neck bone must be removed without breaking the skin, then the duck is hung to dry overnight.

Day two: Compressed air is injected into the duck between its skin and flesh to make the skin glossy and shiny. Then, once again, it is hung to dry with a glaze added to the skin.

Day three: The duck is roasted in a wood-fired brick oven for around 40 minutes. Through using a less-smoky, hardwood fuel like fruit tree branches (pear, peach, or date branches for instance), the duck has a fruity flavor and is red. It is roasted until the skin is crackly crisp and then served immediately.

It is difficult to make a real Beijing duck at home, because it not only requires that the skin be separated from the meat by forcing pumped air between the skin and the meat, but also that it is roasted over fruit tree wood to impart a special flavor and aroma.

As these two processes are not easily implement at home, here we introduce a simpler process for cooking Beijing duck:

1. Make a small hole at the bottom of the duck and take out the viscera. Then wash the duck.

2. Place the duck on a rack. Boil a pot of boiling water, and slowly poured the hot water over the duck. Making sure to get it on all sides . The skin immediately shrinks and tightens around the duck.

3. Mix soy sauce, wine, and salt in a bowl and massage it into the duck, and then let it sit for about an hour .

4. Dilute honey with water and apply it to the duck's skin. ( This is for the crispy skin effect. ) You may want to do this more than once.

5. Leave the duck on a plate uncovered, put it in the refrigerator overnight (5-6 hours) to let the skin dry out .

6. Put the duck in an oven, set the temperature to 350°F (180°C) and roast for about 40 minutes . The color of the duck will become brown and red and shiny. Serve immediately!

How to Eat Beijing Duck

  • Slicing the Duck

The manner of serving and eating Beijing duck is unique. The chef presents you the whole duck before taking it away for slicing, or at some restaurants slicing it in front of your table. Each slice is very thin, containing both meat and skin.

  • Condiments and Side Dishes

The condiments include sweet plum sauce (梅酱 méi jiàng), cucumber and sugar (糖和黄瓜 táng hé huángguā), mashed garlic (大蒜 dàsuàn) and scallions (葱 cōng). Other condiments you could add are sugar and mashed garlic; you can choose hollow sesame biscuits (芝麻饼 zhīmabǐng) or mandarin pancakes (春饼 chūnbǐng) as side dishes to wrap the Beijing duck meat in.

  • Wrapping the Beijing Duck Slices

The best way to eat the duck is to take a pancake in one hand, then with your chopsticks pick up a slice of duck and coat it in the plum sauce. Spread the sauce onto the pancake using the duck, then add some more slices of duck and some cucumber and green onion. Finally, roll up the pancake and eat it with your hands — delicious!

Top 9 Places for Peking Duck in Beijing

by Margot | Nov 21, 2018 | Uncategorized |

Our friends at Bespoke Travel Company share with us Beijing’s best places to go for Peking duck (as well as those you should avoid):

Beijings best peking duck restaurants 2018

A regular conversation among Beijing friends:

We’re doing duck, where shall we go? Jing Zun, it’s great! Oh god no, it’s full of expats Ok, where then? How about Duck de Chine in Sanlitun? It closed. Oh I like Country Kitchen Yeah but that’s in a hotel. What about Li Qun In Qianmen?! The line is always ridiculous. Dadong? Bit expensive…

A bit like Goldie Locks and her porridge, there are plenty of Peking duck places to choose from, but do any of them get it ‘just right’?

Behold! Bespoke’s completely unscientific Guide to Beijing’s Best Peking Duck restaurants…

dadong duck beijing branches

Purporting to be the El Buli of Chinese restaurants with its molecular gastronomic twists on classic Beijing dishes, Dadong gets a lot of hype. But is the duck better than anywhere else? Not particularly. Are the other dishes on the menu over-the-top and fun for a blowout meal? Well, yes, yes they are.

Think oversized plates, dry ice and giant candyfloss for dessert. Our take on the interiors? Super tacky. Unless you’re into the neon white and blue nightclub vibe circa 1998. Our tip? Go to the homely and rowdy Nanxincang branch, which is much prettier and more low-key. The Verdict:  Pricey and overdone but fun for a special meal. Address: 1F, Nanxincang International Plaza, 22A Dongsishitiao, Chaoyang district (tel: 5169 0329)

Taste of Dadong

Little Dadong Parkview Green Fangcaodi

That’s more like it. For those that don’t want to spend on the full Dadong experience, this outpost inside Beijing’s most extra mall – Parkview Green – is a great compromise. Light, bright and modern, Chef Dadong has done away with the tome-like menu and fussy molecular dishes to focus on what he does best – perfectly crisp Peking duck (plus a range of down-to-earth classics).

The focus at Taste of Dadong is on quality ingredients over pretentious platings – try the delicious shredded cabbage salad studded with tiny dried shrimp and doused in vinegar.

The Verdict:  Perfect for a set lunch duck at a good price. Address: LG2-11a, Parkview Green, 9 Dongdaqiao Lu, Chaoyang district (tel:  8563 1016)

Country Kitchen

country kitchen peking duck at rosewood beijing

The Verdict:  Great service, solid list of dishes from all over China to compliment your duck Address: 3F, Rosewood Beijing, Jingguang Centre, Hujialou, Chaoyang district (tel:  6536 0066)

Jing Yaa Tang

jing yaa tang duck restaurant opposite house beijing

The Verdict:  Low key, modern, stylish, consistently great Address: B1, The Opposite House, 11 Sanlitun Lu, Chaoyang district (tel:  6410 5230)

Duck de Chine

duck de chine jinbao jie beijing

Visually, the resto’s high, wood beam ceilings, giant red lanterns, open duck ovens and courtyard filled with contemporary art sculptures win points with us. The only downside? The service, which is ‘meh’ most of the time.

The Verdict:  Tasty, tasty duck in a modern-meets traditional Chinese setting. Address: 1949 Hidden City 2, 98 Jinbaojie, Dongcheng district (tel:  6521 2221)

Sheng Yong Xing

The Verdict:  Conveniently located and brilliant all-rounder that never seems to disappoint Address: No.5 Xindong Lu (south west corner of Xindong Lu and Dongzhimenwai crossroads), Chaoyang district (tel:  6464 0968)

sheng yong xing beijing peking duck

Hungry diners queue at the door for the pretty great Peking duck at this innovative local eatery that insists on seasonality and says no to MSG. The birds are expertly roasted so that the skin is shatter-crisp and the flesh unctuously tender.

At the Wangfujing, Qianmen and Dongsishitiao locations it’s the comfy, well-appointed dining rooms that let you know the owners “get it”. Well-drilled staff serve up takes on local classics like  zhajiang mian  (Beijing’s signature noodles), nourishing soups, fresh seafood and a whopping selection of sweet snacks the city is famous for.

The Verdict:  The highest quality of all the bursting-at-the-seams chain (duck) restaurants, particularly if you want to be sat alongside locals not tourists. Address: 23 Dongsi Shitiao Dongcheng district (tel:  6401 3267); 32 Dengshikou Xijie, Dongcheng district (tel: 6513 5141); 11 Nanchizi Dajie (just south of the Forbidden City’s East Gate), Dongcheng district (Tel: 6526 7369)

The Verdict:  Basic but tasty duck in a convenient setting, particularly for those on a budget. Address: Building 6, Taipingzhuang Nanli (across from the Holiday Inn), Chunxiu Lu, Chaoyang district (tel: 6417 4075)

The Liu family have lived in this lively covered courtyard for over a century, but they only opened as a restaurant serving old Beijing fare about 15 years ago. Two types of Peking ducks are available – one better quality than the other according to our waitress but we’ve had both and can’t really tell the difference.

Both are roasted over fruitwood, and come with the typical fixings of steamed wheat pancakes, julienned cucumber and onions, minced garlic, and sugar (to dip the pieces of skin). It’s a cheap and cheerful spot that’s a hit with locals, who all seem to prefer ordering the boiled tripe.

The Verdict:  Authentic, local, rowdy, mid range duck in a trad courtyard setting. 8 Meishuguan Dong Jie, Dongcheng District (in an alley set back from the road so look for red lanterns that mark the entrance (tel: 6400 5912)

Don’t bother with… Quanjude  (tourist central);  Made in China (fine, but unimaginative);  Li Qun  (long lines and not worth the wait).

Best Peking Ducks In Beijing – From Da Dong, Siji Minfu, Jing Yaa Tang To Quan Ju De

[Beijing, China] It would be a shame to visit Beijing without trying one of their best-known Peking Ducks.

If you have yet to try any Peking Ducks 北京烤鸭 before, it has quite a unique style of preparation.

Ducks bred specially for the dish are slaughtered after 2 months or so, seasoned thoroughly before being roasted in a closed or hung oven.

Peking Ducks are known for its thin and crisp skin, contrasted with little meat, often wrapped in crepe-like pancake pieces with spring onions, cucumber and sweet hoisin sauce.

If you are at lost where to head to, here are 5 highly recommended Peking Duck restaurants in Beijing:

Da Dong Roast Duck 北京大董烤鸭店 (Nanxincang) 1-2 Nanxincang Guoji Dasha, 22A Dongsishitiao, Dongcheng District, Beijing 东城区东四十条甲22号南新仓商务大厦1-2楼 (东四十条桥西南) Tel: +86 10 5169 0329 Opening Hours: 11:00am – 10:00pm Daily www.dadongdadong.com Google Maps – Da Dong Roast Duck (Nanxincang)

Talk about the best Peking Duck from Beijng, Quanjude 全聚德 may be the restaurant most popular with tourists, but it is Da Dong that is known for its quality ducks and dishes.

Da Dong Roast Duck 北京大董烤鸭店 was established in Dongcheng District in Beijing, more than 30 years ago.

Its other two restaurants in Shanghai both earned a Michelin star each; while the Peking Duck restaurant has also found its way to New York City’s The Cube Building near Bryant Park.

Da Dong is synonymous to its specialty, super-lean roast duck. Instead of the traditional square oven, Da Dong uses an innovative spherical wood fired oven in cooking Peking Duck. Da Dong Roast Duck 北京大董烤鸭店 (Nanxincang, Beijing)

Billed as the modern, healthy way to eat roast duck, Da Dong Roast Duck is famous for being roasted in a leaner and less fatty way than traditional methods.

I would recommend first eating the skin san all the condiments and pancake – it could melt in the mouth with a thin layer of juicy fat. Inside, the meat is flavourful.

Siji Minfu (Deng Shi Kou) 四季民福烤鸭店(灯市口店) 32 Dengshikou W St, DongDan, Dongcheng Qu, Beijing Shi, China, 100006 东城区 灯市口西街32号 Tel: +86 10 6513 5141 Opening Hours: 10:30am – 10:30pm Google Maps – Siji Minfu

Siji Minfu’s 四季民福烤鸭店 local specialties further set this restaurant as a sought-after culinary destination. Compared to most other Peking Duck restaurants, it has a slightly better price point.

It offers a rare combination of curated menu items, including delicacies from China and other parts of Asia.

This chain is popular for its authentic Peking duck, carved tableside. Locals and tourists alike line up out the door for the famed duck, expertly roasted so that the skin shatters while the flesh remains tender.

The duck is priced at RMB108 for half (SGD21.56, USD15.83), RMB198 (SGD39.53, USD29) for whole. A whole duck is easily enough of a meal for three to four people.

Take note there is additional RMB6 for the pancakes, and RMB5 per person for condiments.

Your meal ends with a bowl of creamy white Duck Bone Soup (additional RMB20) with choy sum, tofu and vermicelli.

It is intentionally bland to cleanse your palate of the rich flavour of duck. Siji Minfu 四季民福烤鸭店 (Beijing)

Jing Yaa Tang (The Opposite House) 京雅堂烤鸭 Lower Ground Level, The Opposite House, Taikoo Li Sanlitun North, No. 11 Sanlitun Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing, China 100027 朝阳区三里屯路11号院1号楼瑜舍酒店LG层 Tel: +86 10 6410 5230 Opening Hours: Lunch 12pm – 2:30pm (Mon – Fri) 11am – 2:30pm (Sat – Sun); Dinner 6pm – 10:30pm (Mon – Sun) Google Maps – Jing Yaa Tang (The Opposite House)

The Opposite House is an upscale contemporary glass-fronted hotel in the Chaoyang district, with 3 restaurants and a bar. Located in the hotel’s basement is the fancy Jing Yaa Tang, a new culinary landmark celebrating the traditional Beijing roast duck.

Order a whole Peking duck (RMB238, SGD49.98) and you’ll also get complimentary sides – stir-fried shredded duck, bamboo shoots, Chinese sausages and mushrooms.

As with traditional duck houses in Beijing, diners enjoy their duck rolled up in a pancake.

They’d flavour it with homemade sweet fermented sauce, julienned cucumber, melon and leeks, and some crunchy garlic sprinkles (to add some texture to the wrap).

The duck roasting kitchen is almost the main spectacle with the date wood-fired oven.

Once seated inside the restaurant, served by respectful and knowledgeable staff and nibbling on crunchy duck skin, it is easy to imagine that you are in a classy dining hall of modern royalty, enjoying a relaxed yet distinguished meal.

Duck de Chine 1949 The Hidden City 1949 – The Hidden City, Courtyard 4, Gongti Beilu (opposite the south gate of Pacific Century Place Mall) Chaoyang District 朝阳区工体北路4号院 Tel: +86 10 6501 8881 Opening Hours: 11:00am – 2:30pm; 5:30pm – 10:30pm (Mon – Sun) Google Maps – Duck de Chine 1949 The Hidden City

Located away from street view just behind Pacific Century Place in Sanlitun, Duck de Chine is part of the 1949-The Hidden City, a former factory-turned-dining and nightlife complex in Beijing.

Duck de Chine’s menu incorporates both Chinese and French duck-roasting traditions. Its signature dish is roasted duck along with Cantonese cuisine.

What makes its roasted duck unique in flavour is the use of Jujube wood, which is over 60 years old. Using this type of wood when roasting imparts a strong fruit aroma to the duck, giving it especially crispy caramelized skin and a tender, juicy flavourful meat.

Moreover, Duck de Chine distinguishes itself with its homemade hoisin sauce. The sweet hoisin sauce is drizzled over sliced spring onions and cucumbers and encased with the duck skin in a thin pancake.

Quan Ju De Peking Duck (Qian Men) 全聚德烤鸭店(前门店) 30 Qianmen St, Dongcheng Qu, Beijing Shi, China, 100051 Tel: +86 10 6511 2418 Opening Hours: 10:45am – 1:45pm, 4:15pm – 8:15pm (Mon – Sun) Google Maps – Quan Ju De Peking Duck (Qian Men)

Quanjude 全聚德 is Beijing’s oldest roast duck restaurant, being founded in the year 1864. That is over 150 years ago.

The name “Quanjude” is synonymous with traditional Beijing Roast Duck, otherwise known as Peking Duck. This special cuisine is popular with the heads of state, government officials, people from all walks of life, and tourists from home and abroad.

Ask a random local on the street about what to do in Bejiing, most of them are likely to direct you to taste roast duck in Quanjude.

The Qianmen Avenue store is a 1,600-meter-long revamped Qing Dynasty-style shopping street in front of the Forbidden City. Perhaps the most spectacular among all the branches in Beijing.

Recommended is its signature Roast Duck (RMB258, SGD54.28). Every single duck has an ID number and certificate, from the very first duck roasted since the opening of the restaurant, a century and a half ago.

To be really honest, I thought that the Roast Duck I had was just all right, as perhaps I was expecting much more.

While the meat was generally moist and tender, the skin could have been a lot crispier and glossy. Basically lacking in the “wow” factor for such as renowned brand. Quanjude Roast Duck 全聚德 (Qianmen, Beijing)

BeiJing Roast Duck

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

I found this restaurant very expensive, but to go to try the Peking duck is worthy. I was with my husband there and the bill was more than 300rmb, not including the drinks... it s an experience to have this dish in a very traditional... style. More

Some Chinese people it's their habits of their own bon appetite !! In the summer of 2019 , it's such a fun and terrific place to go as young kids / young teens !! For me , I'm Asian - American !! I do love... how clean they truly are !! More

Fantastic duck! We enjoyed ourselves with a wonderful Peking duck dinner in Beijing. The food, service and atmosphere was all great. The duck was just soooooo good!

trip advisor beijing duck

There were to many people inside the restaurant at once. The lines were long and we waited 20 minutes for a table to open up!

Yhe restaurant was over crowded and there was a number system inplace to wait for a table - so we left

Great location and quality presentation and service. However, whilst tasting good the duck seemed pre-prepared and we have had better at Café China in Cairns Australia. I was quite sick later that night vomiting and many visits to the toilet the following day. However, I... can't be sure that the restaurant was responsible as my wife had the same dishes and she was OK. It may have been a stomach virus that passed in 24 hours. More

It was an impromptu plan to go eat Beijing Roast Duck along with a few others we met at the hostel we were at.. one of the better experiences of our trip to China.. Always ask around for where you get good Roast duck..You never... know what lies just a corner from where you are. More

特别特别特别好吃,就是人好多,家里人都很满意,地理位置很好,来北京玩每次都会去吃,希望下次去的时候可以和朋友去。the food is delicious but there were too many people there so we waited for a long time and i wish to go there with my friends

This is one of the original Peking duck restaurants in Beijing. There are several that advertise themselves as "the original" and they are very competitive.

This was the best "set meal" we had while in Beijing. A great selection of meat and vegetable dishes, ample portions, and excellent service.

we went and had a meal with roast duck , we made the roast duck dumplings and they were great, the food in China was excellent

, You have to try the amazing taste of BeiJing Roast Duck‬ , when you visit beijing that taste you will not find it in another place .

“Great choices! Aug 2016” Review of Da ShangHaiShui Jian Bao BeiJing Roast Duck

Definitely one of my favourite places for Dong Bei because it has many different kinds of Baozi that are pan fried technically. Then there are different kinds of dishes that are available in addition to baozi, it's all great choices.
