25th July 2023 – (Hong Kong) On 14th July, Miami Heat’s star player,  Jimmy Butler  III, arrived in China to embark on an 11-day tour of the country. During his visit, he traveled to various cities such as Beijing, Xi’an, Chongqing, and  Guangzhou , to hold fan meet-and-greets at “Li-Ning” brand stores and experience the local customs and cultures. Yesterday, Butler arrived in  Hong Kong  for the final leg of his China tour.

At 4pm yesterday,  Jimmy Butler III attended the “Jimmy Butler Skills Challenge” and received cheers from the entire audience upon his entrance, a testament to his immense popularity. Afterwards, with the audience and Butler as witnesses, the “Jimmy Butler Skills Challenge” concluded successfully, with Chung Chi Ho and Kan winning the men’s and women’s championships, respectively.

Butler was then invited to play in a 4 on 4 game with the participants, fulfilling the dreams of the aspiring basketball players and making the event even more memorable.

Butler was warmly welcomed by fans at the  sports store  in Tsim Sha Tsui. Dozens of fans cheered and shouted when he made his entrance, with some even throwing shoes at him in an attempt to get his autograph. Butler expressed his excitement to meet his fans in Hong Kong and his eagerness to try out some local delicacies.

When asked about the previous season in which he led the Miami Heat to the NBA Finals, Butler said it was a great season overall but that they were all disappointed to come so close to the championship but fall short. He vowed that the  Miami Heat  would be the NBA champions in 2024. Butler also stated that he would do everything possible to win next season, pouring all his emotions into every play and every game, not wanting to disappoint his teammates or fans. He further added that he hopes to still be playing at a high level in five years and to have already won a championship.

Butler is aware that many young basketball players view him as their idol, and he is grateful for the opportunity to inspire them through his journey and experiences. He believes that basketball can motivate people to grow and become examples for others to follow. “So if I can inspire others, I’m very, very happy.”

As for the rest of his offseason, Butler plans to spend time with his children, family, and friends, drinking coffee, and engaging in other sports like rugby and tennis. “Anything that lets me focus on my family is what’s important. The most important thing is to enjoy the coming days and have fun.”

Jimmy Butler: Li-Ning Shoes, China Tour, and ‘Cotton Basketball’

Jimmy butler rounded out his china tour by announcing exclusive new li-ning shoes, and receiving the questionable gift of a ‘cotton basketball’.

Jimmy Butler, aka Jimmy Buckets, has just rounded out his China tour by unveiling his newest signature shoes with Li-Ning.

Butler took a brief step away from the Miami Heat to complete a ten-day promotional tour. After visits to Beijing, Taiyuan, Xi’an, Chongqing, and Guangzhou, he finished up his mainland route with a stop in rural basketball capital Guizhou.

One clip from his tour went unexpectedly viral when a fan accidentally hit JB in the face with a shoe.

Butler was onstage autographing sneakers for fans at a Li-Ning event in Taiyuan, when an audience member tossed a shoe up to be signed, accidentally bouncing it off the NBA player’s face (slide 5 above).

Butler was clearly startled, but quickly laughed it off, signed the shoe, and returned it to its owner.

“Probably my favorite part about the whole thing,” he joked later on Instagram.

On this trip, Jimmy Butler became the first ever NBA player to visit Guizhou, the capital of China’s ‘rural basketball’ movement. Guizhou is the birthplace of an iconic basketball tournament called ‘CunBA’ — cun , literally meaning ‘village,’ and ‘BA’ as in ‘NBA.’

There, thousands gathered to watch Butler dunk. After chatting with fans, he received a cotton basketball as a symbolic gift from 81-year-old Lu Dajiang at an elementary school.

The gift sparked some controversy online, where some audiences questioned if cotton was really the right gift for a black basketball player from the US.

“Butler looks unsure about the cotton in his hand,” reads one comment .

“His face is like, hmmmm...” another user replied.

Others, however, defended the gift and rebuked any historical interpretations.

“Our cotton is a symbol of the wisdom, diligence and simplicity of the working people,” wrote one user. “It has nothing to do with blood, tears and oppression. This gift is good!”

“Those histories have nothing to do with us,” wrote another. “But if a white person gave JB that gift, he’d definitely be pissed.”

After his visit, Butler visited Hong Kong, stopping in the industrial/residential center of San Po Kong to play alongside fans, and to dole out some free Li-Ning shoes to winners of the skills contest.

“Always give all you have doing what you love,” he said. “Never, ever let anyone tell you what you can or you cannot do.”

J immy Butler isn't shy in letting others know what he thinks about certain things, even if his opinion is far different from others. Recently, he was interviewed about his thoughts on which team would win the Larry O'Brien trophy next season. His answer caused fans to make fun of him.

Butler chose the Miami Heat as champions for the upcoming 2023-24 NBA season. This came after the Heat fell against the Denver Nuggets in six games in June.

"I am going to pick the Heat to win the championship in 2024," Butler said.

Naturally, he chose the team he's playing for as the champions, but that didn't go well with the fans. They quickly brought up the fact that he's lost two finals now and even went as far as calling him a "choker." Here are some of the best reactions from the fans.

With the Heat trying their best to acquire Damian Lillard, Butler's words might come true. So far, there has been no movement with the trade as the Portland Trail Blazers have been picky with the offers that Miami has given them. Jimmy Butler visited Hong Kong to end his summer tour

Jimmy Butler doesn't shy away from giving back to his fans and those who have supported him in his journey in the NBA. This year is no different. The six-time All-Star took time to visit his fans and ended his summer tour in Hong Kong.

While in Hong Kong, he had the chance to share the court with the fans. The youth showcased their talents in front of the NBA star.

"I love the fact that the youth look up to me," Butler said. "But more than anything, I just love to see the young having fun, loving the game of basketball, playing it for all of the right reasons. And that's just to bring a smile to your face.

"So, the fact that they know and think that I can make that happen even at 33 years of age, it's a blessing for anyone to look up to me."
