Tour Reviews

Volkan went out of his way to accommodate my friends and I when the season hadn’t even started! He is a delight to work with and is very hospitable. We did the Beyond the 12 Islands tour and it was everything we could want and more. Beautiful scenery, relaxing/tanning on the boat, good food, and plenty of swim stops. I could not recommend taking a tour with Volkan’s Adventures more!

Beyond the 12 Islands Another fantastic day with Volkan and his team.Picked up at our apartment at 9.30pm for the 40 minute drive to the Marina at Gocek ( a very, very upmarket area) where we went on board the boat, there were plenty of sunbeds and shaded areas for the group of 12. This was a great lazy day, with one stop at the most incredible bay, here there were hot springs bubbling up from the sea bed. There were other swimming stops, interspaced with lounging in the sun sipping either water, fruit juice or something a bit stronger! Volkan explained all about the islands we were passing, making it an informative day as well as a relaxing one. Lunch was prepared by “mama”, who provided a superb spread of chicken, meatballs and a great variety of Turkish Mezes. On the trip back in to Gocek the engine was cut and the sail hoisted, the most peaceful time on the water you can imagine. After a full day of swimming, sunbathing and good food I nearly fell asleep on the drive back to Dalyan.

10 out of 10 Volkan

The Beyond the 12 Islands tour was excellent and we very much enjoyed it. The boat was quite luxurious and all the crew and staff were very accommodating. The food was excellent and very well presented. There were several swim stops which everyone seemed to enjoy and we would thoroughly recommend this tour. Volkan’s Murat provided some great pictures and videos at the end of a trip which was also a bonus. Thank you for a great day.

My daughter and I enjoyed the 12 islands trip not once but twice last week ! The luxurious layout of the boat , delicious food, relaxing ambience created with good background music and new friends, made this a wonderful way to chill out . The swim stops were very welcome and so were the boat ladies with their gorgeous wares for sale . Can’t wait to do it all again in a couple of weeks ! How’s that for a recommendation? Olivia

We thoroughly enjoyed our last trip so we booked on to the Beyond The 12 Island trip and we had such a good time. Would really recommend to anyone especially families.

we did our second private boat trip with Volkan and his team from Gocek on the 8th August 2020. We sailed on Blue Melody in a party of 14. Volkan and the crew were excellent hosts providing a fantastic day out for everyone. Lunch was prepared on the boat – chicken, meatball kofta, salad, fesh fish, pasta and a great mezze selection. Plenty of soft drinks, beers and wine. If you want a guaranteed excellent boat trip, Volkan (volkansadventures.com) is who to book with. Thank you Volkan and your team.

Have done numerous trips with Volkans Adventures and enjoyed every one.Nothing is to much trouble for this team.If they can do it for you (including the impossible)they will try their best for you.Boat trips are a dream. No loud jam packed disco boats, nice calm and relaxing usually about 12 to 15 max people. No fighting for best sun spots or people stepping over you.Food is fab and plenty of it, nobody goes hungry. Information, these guys have it all. They know their stuff(No Googling for them).Music not loud even bring your own and they will play it for you if you want. With this team you meet as a guest and leave as a friend.Might be a little bit more than other operators, but if you want crammed boats, loud disco music, people stepping over you and crap food, fine use them.Me i want value for my money, that’s i would never use anybody other than Volkans Adventures.

A wonderful experience from being picked up promptly to having so much space on the boat , the bays were stunning , the food was plenty and delicious . The host volkan was attentive ensuring all our needs were met . Fun and laughter the whole day , would highly recommend.

This trip is amazing, going out to sea is a must, the sea felt really warm, the staff and crew were very attentive, tea and coffee on arrival, the drinks were not over priced and also not the small bottles of beer that you sometimes get, the BBQ food was excellent and we’ll presented, the day was extremely relaxing, plenty of room to sunbathe as the trip was not over crowded, there was plenty of opportunities to swim throughout the day.

Every year we choose a trip to go on with Volkans and we have totally loved every one. This year we chose the 12 islands. We were picked up on time from our hotel and taken to Gocek to the sailing boat to begin our trip. We were served tea/coffee and biscuits/cake then off we went. Beautiful trip. Stopped off at gorgeous little coves for swimming opportunities. Lunch was buffet style and was delicious and we had further tea/coffee and snacks after lunch and all this included in the price. Alcoholic/soft drinks were available to buy at the bar. As always on these boat trips we made new friends and they are always one of the best days of our annual holiday. Volkan works very hard to make his customers happy and we look forward to seeing them again next year.

Volkan Adventure provided us an exceptionally professional and comfortable day trip around the 12 islands. Our pick up in the morning was prompt and we were greeted with homemade cookies on the minibus. The boat was spacious as we were a group of 14 (and the boat can accommodate many more) so everyone was able to spread out comfortably choosing a spot of their liking in the sun or shade. Coffee, tea and snacks awaited us upon our arrival on the boat. We were also provided beach towels. We enjoyed lounging on the boat and chatting with the other guests in between swimming stops. The guide was friendly and conversational with everyone. Lunch was a beautiful spread of freshly cooked dishes. Later fruit was served as an afternoon snack. It was a lovely day of leisure and beautiful blue waters. We would take this trip again!

Well what can I say !!! Volkan You are the Best!!!! 12 islands boat trip. Relaxing Several swim stops Excellent food Small groups so we all chatted and gelled Plenty of space on the boat I feel I can face the busy life I lead working for the NHS back home. It’s been tough !!! But relaxing on the boat blows away the cobwebs and the stress . Anyone looking. Try it !!! It’s better than medicine !!!!! Volkan. Thank you See you in September

Fantastic day. Booked the 12 Islands trip as a relaxing end to my holiday and it was the perfect ending to my time in Dalyan. Great people, great food and great boat. The swim stops we had were in such beautiful settings and the time at each stop was just perfect. The highlight was when the sail was raised and we just sailed in silence for a while. What can beat sailing in silence in beautiful scenery with a cold Efes? Thanks for another brilliant trip Volkan’s Adventures. I look forward to seeing what tours you are putting together for next year.

Danke für den wundervollen Tag!

A comparison of two recent boat trips. First the Twelve Island Boat Trip -

Setting out from Dalyan for transfer to Gocek to take a " sailboat " to the islands. The transfer was included in the price of 73TL per person and took about one hour each way. There were 11 in our private party at least two who post on the forum. The boat was of good size for our party, with plenty of room in or out of the sun.

The gulet was quickly under way, by engine power. A tab was set up for drinks. The prices were steep , 7 TL for a 300cl Efes. The views of the islands and other gulets were pleasing. The first swimming stop was made near one island. The sea was warm and inviting, but two of our party were unable to negotiate the vertical side ladder into the sea, and so remained on deck. Those that were able, did enjoy the swimming and others, enjoyed each others company. The boat then moved to another similar location for more swimming, before setting of toward another island, at this point the little foresail was deployed and the engine turned off. As the boat was not rigged for a main sail we sort of drifted on, until we reached another swim stop. Here we swam some more while the crew prepared lunch. The food was very good and everyone really enjoyed the time. The islands all looked much the same, so perhaps the change of locations was a bit pointless. Then we returned to Gocek for our transfer back to Dalyan. This is where we found that the already high drinks charges had been enhanced with additional phantom drinks added to the tally ! Three separate parties had had drinks added to their total.

Next the Dalyan Boat Trip

Again, all friends in this second group of twelve, some from the twelve island trip.

12 island boat trip from dalyan

Thanks for the comparisons murdoman; sounds like you enjoyed both trips. Did any of you do any snorkeling? It really annoys me when the bill is bumped up through sheer greed - that lovely, happy feeling you get when you've really enjoyed your day can quickly evaporate and be replaced with anger at being conned, so I'll keep your info in mind if I take friends on the 12 island trip next year. I'd still like to do the moonlit trip as we didn't get chance this year - how would you compare that to the two you've done this time?

Yes, we all really enjoyed both trips. I think with the good mix of people on both trips we could not have been disapointed. Unfortunately the snorkeling gear was minus the mask on the twelve island trip, so the one person who wanted to do so was unable. The twelve island did not land on any beaches, so all swimming was in open water, which would not suit all. I do not recall if the Dalyan boat had any snokeling gear, I don t think so.

I would say that the twelve island day was not spoilt by the overcharging, but I wanted to give the heads up on costs and my experience of both days out.

The moonlite trips that I joined on my previous visit were great fun. I would say that it should be tried at least once. Try to join a boat with about ten or twelve people and plenty of room.

Thanks for the tip. We have our own snorkeling gear so will take it with us next time. I just wondered if there was much to see underwater. Think we were spoilt when we snorkeled in the Carribean many moons ago - fish the size of plates and every colour under the sun! We don't expect it to be so tropical in Turkey though! The only place we snorkeled last year had me beating a hasty retreat when I spotted sea urchins and jellyfish! Can you remember who you organised the Bacardi trip with? I like to go on personal recommendation and would prefer a boat with no more than about 12 people on. Hope you and Mrs M enjoyed your hols.

I will email you with the details of both trips, also will be good to have a catch up.

Great, thanks.

12 island boat trip from dalyan

Sorry to butt ın but went wıth Sardes to Bacardı Bay last week and the BBQ prepared by Captaın Alı was absolutely delıcıous.

Was an ınterestıng return to the rıver as we ran aground and the men were ordered off (presumably to help flotatıon but leavıng some larger German ladıes on board!)

Sardes dıd say that numbers lımıted to 15 although there were about 20 ın total so mıght not be your bag.

Otherwıse would recommend as food delıcıous and fun day out for 35TL - cannot comment on drınk prıces as brought own water.

Thanks for the12 Island report - they do seem to vary the routes as we dıd not land on an ısland (wıth Sardes). They used to go to "pancake" ısland from memory.

Our guıde Mehmet was entertaınıng (perhaps wıthout realısıng ıt) as we stopped ın one bay and he announced that we could swım there as "water was avaılable". I looked over the sıde of the boat and sure enough he was rıght - there was water "avaılable" so I took hım up on the offer.....

Our daughter also went on the Bacardi Beach trip from Dalyan, last year with Captain Ali. I believe that the BBQ was on the beach, and was also reported as being exceptional good fun and food.

Our boat this time was also grounding as it negotiated the channel out to sea. We were able to relocate our "ballast" to the front of the boat to allow the propeller to do its work. The channel does appear to be shallower this year.

Pleased to hear that you had a good trip, at very reasonable prices.

I must admit that I'm a sucker for the 12 Islands type gulet trips - a full day out at sea is my idea of heaven on a stick. The fact that the swim stops are much of a muchness doesn't matter to me as I love the experience of being afloat whether we're moving or at anchor. On certain boats the way down into the water can be difficult for some to manage but most of the vessels I've been on have very good ladders akin to those you have in order to get in and out of a swimming pool - in many cases better because they have a platform on the bottom that you can sit on and slip into the water at your own pace. The trip we took - on the Lady Selya via Yesil - gave us the chance to climb off the boat while we were travelling under sail and hang on to a rope from the back of the gulet. Although it almost seems like you're not moving when the sails are up and the engine is off believe me you are travelling at a fair old lick and it took quite a bit of strength to keep hold of the rope! Much as I enjoy the Dalyan boat trip it doesn't measure up to a day out on a gulet - not for me anyway.

I've seen the 12 island boat trip mentioned often on the forum. What exactly is this trip? Is it a day trip that includes lunch/drinks? Where would you book it? Can you swim off the boat? And finally, what is the cost? Sorry for numerous questions but I want to have a "must do"list before we go.

12 island boat trip from dalyan

I agree, quite heartwarming, and yes Volkan I will leave a review when we’ve done the Gunay 1 12 island trip. Our 1st Dalyan trip can’t come quick enough😎

No problem. Gunay 1 and team are incredible company, we always look up to them to improve ourselves. We try to differentiate in a way for our own style but lots to learn from them. They deserve all the applause they get from people. We have so many shared friends xx

12 island boat trip from dalyan

We have been on 12 island trip many times, both with Guney 1 and with Volcan and we have always loved both .We have also done lots of other trips with Volcan both on land and sea they have all been amazing. You go as a customer and come back a friend, same with Ingrid and Ramazan. We also get Volcan to arrange your transfers and never feel they are any dearer than others. Please give all companies a try and find what one or more suit you...and just have a great time in Lovely Dalyan.

We've had the absolute pleasure of over a dozen trips with Volkan, including 12 Islands and True Love, and I am sorry the views expressed by Nicola Watson are incredibly unfounded and inaccurate.

Every trip has its own little twists and extras that are added for your pleasure and delight, not for profit or gain. Some are unique in their construct and delivery and having done some twice both times they were different from before.

Volkan and his team have an ethos and belief that is personal and engaging.

I doubt that Michelle Watson has been hear a Volkan trip or indeed and trip organised in Dalyan as all are delivered for your enjoyment and the love of their town and region and not for cynical profit

Thank you very much Volkan, really appreciate it. As said already, you can contact us as written below as we work private without travel Agency. Me and my husband live on our gulet and love to share our love for the sea, our gulet (which is actually pur home) and nature, with others. If you Google Günay 1 you will find us easily. Looking forward to welcoming you on board our home and Volkan hope to share our home one day with you and Lisa! Enjoy your holiday!

We went out on the 12 Islands yesterday with Volkan’s Adventures and had a fabulous day! For a mere £40 (plus alcohol) we had a swift and very comfortable transfer to Gocek, a day on a beautiful boat with towels and snorkelling equipment included. More food than we could eat - lemonade, pastries and olives on arrival, a delicious lunch with so many different meze and then cake and melon in the afternoon. Superb company and the guide with us was knowledgable, warm and friendly. Have done this trip many times over the last 20 years, in many different guises, from renting our own gulet to the two storey public boat, and this was one of the best. So worth the £40! Thank you Volkan!!! My first with you but not my last!

Yes, there is always something cheaper but you need to compare apples with apples!

The 12 Island boat trip is from Fethiye, which is well over an hour from Dalyan and I would doubt if any of the tour agents there would book it for you.

The trip itself is a lovely chill out day, the boat leaves Fethiye at about 10:30, sails out of Fethiye bay heading towards Gocek, this is where the 12 islands are located. The boat stops at about 5-6 places allowing you to have a swim or in some cases go ashore for a stroll.

Lunch, which is basic but usually very tasty, is served on the boat at one of the stops.

Most boats have an upper deck where you can really get the sun.

You return at about 6 dependant on weather and time of year.

Cost is round about £8 for more info look at

http://tinyakropol.com

It's a long time since I stayed in Dalyan, but I do seem to recall that there were 12 island trips organised from there.

Everything that FF has said is correct, but you don't actually have to make the trip all the way to Fethiye to do it. There are trips every day from Göcek, organised by the boating coop that has a booth on the waterfront more or less in front of the Limon Restaurant. It's the same tour, food, etc, you just don't have to motor all the way over the Gulf of Fethiye to get there.

There are often buses from Dalyan parked near there, so it may be that some agency does organise trips that leave from Göcek rather than Fethiye - it saves a journey of around 12/15 miles more.

I'm surprised that you quote the price as 8 pounds, though, FF, as I thought it was more like 10, but with the rates going up and down, who knows?!

There are a few photos of mine posted on here of the 12 islands etc.

12 island boat trip from dalyan

From Fethiye you can choose either 12 island or the blue bays, personally the latter is my favorite. The 12 islands sounds great, mind they are small, and you will visit perhaps 3 on the trip, as the islands are a bit out of the Fethiye harbor there is more sailing on this trip. The blue bays trip is less sailing and more time for relax, swim or snorkel.

The boat trips can be very cheap, but then the cheaper the more people can/will be on the boat. Drinks are usually not included.

By the way another lovely boat trip is from Köycegiz over the lake to Dalyan, then you have to find your private captain near the jetty of Köycegiz, the 'lakescape' is breathtaking and there are possibly no other boats around.

Yes, but my point is that by making the trip from Göcek, which is where the islands actually are, you are cutting 15 miles off the bus trip before you get to a boat and you don't waste time motoring to and from Fethiye and therefore have more time around the islands.

LOUISE ..you can book the trip from DALYAN...pick up service from your accommodation and brought back...try DALE at OZALP travel for a good deal........XX RAYMONDO xx

I have been on several 12 island trips. There are many companys that do an organised trips in Dalyan town. If your staying at a hotel then I'm sure the owner/managers could arrange a trip. The cost is abour £20 and £25 quid each. It is a full day out and all food is included, although you have to pay for drinks.

A useful tip, take some floats with you, nothing nicer than floating in the sea as you will have several stops to do so. Also a pair of shoes that you can use in the sea, helps if you want to walk on the rocks

It is usual to stop for a pancake on the beach. Rough and ready, the charm of Turkey.

Another work of advice. some boats are better than others, the double decker boats have very little shade on top and are usually more crowded. The smaller ones are nicer, takes up tp 25 people, may cost a little more, but well worth it.

It's a lovely day out. Enjoy!

As far as I know, you do not have to go to Fetihye for the 12 Island trip. I believe that you can do the trip leaving from Gocek which is not so far to travel.

It's a long time since I stayed in Dalyan, but I do seem to recall that there were 12 island trips organised from there.

Everything that FF has said is correct, but you don't actually have to make the trip all the way to Fethiye to do it. There are trips every day from Göcek, organised by the boating coop that has a booth on the waterfront more or less in front of the Limon Restaurant. It's the same tour, food, etc, you just don't have to motor all the way over the Gulf of Fethiye to get there.
