Very Disappointed

Because other friends traveled with Firebird Tours and were pleased we traveled with this Company to Morocco. We traveled with another couple. Unfortunately, our experience wasn’t very good. Many glitches occurred, the response from Firebird was very weak. Be careful if you book with them regarding the class of rooms they reserve, make sure you actually have that room reserved, and, that they are providing the proper sized vehicle to your driver. Just a few hints to make your trip more pleasant than ours. Other situations occurred as well.

We participated in a small group, "Cultural Capitals" tour of Italy (Venice, Florence, Rome) in October 2019. Overall, I was left unimpressed with the service that Firebird provided. The hotels were nice with spacious accommodations and good locations. The service provided by Firebird was lacking though. All the day tours were subcontracted, greatly departed from list of sites / itinerary provided. It felt very disconnected, with needs of the groups being discussed repeatedly with each new handler or guide. Our group was around a dozen people and unlike prior small group tours I have been on, we sort of felt like we were left to fend for ourselves. Handlers would appear at their scheduled times with no awareness of the group dynamics or details (e.g. members of the trip that didn't join the tour, people that left early, etc). We had super tight connections for trains - the handlers would literally dump us out in front of a train station and wish us farewell. We arrived at one such train station 5 minutes prior to departure - the train was moving before we had even taken our seats. Tickets, platforms, luggage handling, and overall finding our way was up to us. Several individuals in the group had difficulty handling their bags and other group members had to help. Overall, it felt like a college professor that showed up the first day, handed out the syllabus, and said see you at the final. Definitely not what I was expecting from a small-group tour operator and not worth the money I paid. My suggestion would be take their itineraries and book everything yourself instead - you'll get the same level of service.

Three couples spent two weeks on a Firebird tour that included Paris, Reims, Lyon and a week on a Belmond barge on the Saône River. The daily guided tours were excellent, the hotels were average and the barge portion of the tour was outstanding. We experienced a number of communication difficulties before and during the trip. For example just before we arrived we were informed that our hotel in Reims cancelled our rooms. Firebird put us in a different and lesser quality hotel. They later (after some discussion ) agreed to reimburse us for some of the difference. We also had problems with transfers, including drivers who were late and got lost. And Firebird did not provide us with adequate information about the Belmond barge. We would have been better off contracting directly with Belmond.

Beautiful sights, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden & Russia with great guides, the only disappointment was the lack of communication of Firebird Tours with ALL members of the tour. When speaking with fellow travelers, we discovered how significant the lack of communication was. If used, you will have to keep checking with them to make sure all information needed is communicated.

Our vacation in Spain was overall exceptional

Our vacation in Spain was overall exceptional. The hotels chosen by Firebird were all lovely and in excellent locations. 3 of our guides score 5s, 1was a 4, and one a 3+/4. All outstanding. Our drivers were on time and got us where we needed to be in timely and safe drives.

Everything was perfect

Everything was perfect. The hotel, tour guides and travel were all great. The itinerary that you put together allowed us to see everything that we wanted to see and still have some time on our own to explore the city. We will definitely use Firebird moving forward.

Fantastic. Could not have asked for more. Worked well with tour coordinators to get the trip we desired. Beautiful sights, all drivers provided timely travel, great knowledge from all guides. Wonderful locations for supporting hotels.

Overall we enjoyed the trip

The tour guides were excellent, and we especially appreciated the ones who spoke impeccable English. The one whose accent was thick was difficult to understand, and it took a lot of energy to get what she was relating about the history. We also would have appreciated knowing how to deal with the train station in Lisbon. No information was available except by standing in a long line at the ticket office. Also, we expected first class to provide amenities and have food and drink for purchase, and there was none.

Great trip in France

Overall, we had a great trip to Paris, Nice, Cannes, Avignon, Marseille. In 10 days, we can say we visited Most of the beautiful place in France. Firebirds agency was awesome. Everything was well planned. Choosing them was the best decision that my husband did. Beautiful hotels, great and healthy breakfast, drivers and guides were always on time, very flexible, courteous and knowledgeable. It was the best fantastic trip of my life. Firebirds made Paris more beautiful than I thought. We definitely will choose Firebirds again for our next trips.

We had a great time. We should have had more time to explore Toledo we be our only advice nor a better experience. Also, probably what we have learned is to not to carry much cash and hide your ID in side your socks or bra. It would be nice to over stress those points for a 1st time travelers.

Barcelona and Madrid was spectacular

The trip to Barcelona and Madrid was spectacular. The hotels were perfect; the walking tours were very informative. Each one of the guides was very knowledgeable and provided just the right amount of history to keep the attention of everyone in our small group (7); we were all engaged. There were 3 of us who speak fluent Spanish and the tour guides were able to easily switch back and forth between both Spanish and English. For my introduction to Spain, this tour was perfect. Now I know what I want to see next time and will be able to be more selective.

The best vacation we've ever had in our life!

Overall, the best vacation we've ever had in our life! This Private Island tour was very well organized by Firebird. They had all of our hotels, excursions, train tickets, tour drivers, everything mapped out very well, and we did not have any problems or surprises. They set up the tour to include all of our must-have activities, and most of of the tour guides provided were all excellent. Most of the cars/vans that they used were Mercedes, so very nice. There was one driver who was basically a taxi driver and not a tour guide.

The guides were all top-of-the-line. I loved their history & it showed. I did not have a favorite, as they were all excellent.

Really wonderful opportunity

Really wonderful opportunity to best utilize the small amount of time we had to discover portugal. We would never have known to explore some of the areas we were exposed to, and if we had, logistically, we would not have been able to arrange to see so many of them between trying to line up transportation and not having an understanding of how long it takes to get to or properly see x, y or z. We feel like we crammed 3 trips into one!

Overall we enjoyed the whole trip a lot. Moscow is beautiful and clean. Thank you very much for your patience and excellent organization of this tour. Everything ran very smoothly and according to schedule. The guides met us on time at hotels or at our train carriage on arrival. They all spoke good English, had a good local knowledge and were very kind and helpful.

The tour lived up to all expectations

Well planned trip to Italy

Well planned trip to Italy (Rome, Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Florence, Venice). All the hotels were centrally located with spacious rooms and friendly staff. All transportation seamless (private drivers, trains, and water taxis). All tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and personable. Worth the small extra cost to have a coordinated private trip for our group of 4. Customer service was very responsive before and during the trip as needed. Accommodated our request to reverse the order of the sites. First time using and Would definitely use Firebird tours again. Made for a stress free vacation!

Italy Per Our Desires

Our custom designed tour checked off all our bells and whistles. Firebird was reachable every step of the way. The guides were excellent especially Flavia our guide on the Isle of Capri, Alejandro our Florence guide, and especially Barbara our chef who invited into her home for a cooking lesson. I’m not a guy who typically offers online opinions but WOW! I was very apprehensive about choosing an online tour company, but for some unknown reason, I chose Firebird. I loved how Stan Nowak gave me a quick callback after my initial online inquiry. This man is very good. We just returned yesterday from our Scandinavian vacation and Firebird DID NOT disappoint! A Great Vacation Thanks to Firebird I booked a tour of Rome and the Amalfi…

I booked a tour of Rome and the Amalfi Coast through Firebird. It was one of the best vacations I have ever had and I have traveled around the world. My agent, Anastasia, chose the best hotels and guided tours. Except for airfare, all aspects of the trip was organized: cab rides to and from the airport and trains. My time was spent enjoying Italy, not fretting about transportation or accommodations. I highly recommend Firebird for travel arrangements.

Trip to southern Ireland

Our recent trip to southern Ireland hiring Firebird was a fantastic experience. Our trip organizer, Natalie Ray did an excellent job keeping us informed of travel necessities as well as exciting places to see. All the hotels and drivers were outstanding. We received timely emails of every detail of the trip for our review. We have used Firebird twice in Italy & Ireland and even with last-minute changes by our airline, Firebird took care of everything without a problem. We plan on contacting Natalie Ray again for our next trip to the UK.

Highly Recommend Firebird Tours

Firebird took all our requests and developed a great trip for us in Japan. They were very responsive to us before and during our trip when questions arose and plans needed to be altered. Had a wonderful experience using Firebird Tours to plan our trip to explore Portugal. They set up everything from picking us up and taking to the train station or our hotel. The drivers they choose for our tours were absolutely fantastic, professional, friendly and narrated our tours with wit, humor and a sense of loving their country. The Hotels Firebird chose for us were wonderful. Everyone at the hotels were so friendly and helpful. We loved every place we stayed or visited. Our wine tours and tastings were fantastic. The entertainment scheduled - excellent. I would use Firebird Tours again in a heartbeat.

Firebird thought of everything

Firebird thought of everything, there was enough spare time to look around, great tour guides, the hotels were excellent and our family felt conform the whole trip that everything was organised, down to meals and private transfers. really great value for money, I will definitely use Firebird tours again, I couldn't be more happy with the service and price.

We recently used Firebird Tours for a trip to London and Scotland

We recently used Firebird Tours for a 10 day trip of London and Scotland. It was truly incredible. We were in 6 different hotels, along with 6 different cities. We had many changes between trains, cards, etc. Everything went well and if something went wrong Firebird was a text message away to troubleshoot and fix the problem. Ultimately making things better than expected. We are most grateful and would definitely book a trip with them again!

This won't be our last trip with Firebird.

This was our second trip with Firebird. It will not be our last. We are a group of 4 who have traveled together for years. We love planning where we want to go and what we want to see, but do not like dealing with all the logistics. Firebird took our "dream" list and made suggestions for places we hadn't known about or thought of. It was very much a collaborative process. Once the final itinerary was settled on, they made it work. I do think it is important to note that 3 separate independent guides hired by Firebird for our trip mentioned specifically how they appreciated Firebird's timely and clear communications and prompt payment for services. That speaks volumes.

Great communication before and during…

Great communication before and during the trip. Our trip involved multiple hotels, transfers, local tour guides, and a combination of drivers and train travel. Many opportunities for problems to occur, but thanks to the expertise and care of Firebird, there was only one minor glitch when we mistakenly boarded the wrong train. At that point, Firebird support was extremely helpful in readjusting our schedule and preventing a major problem. We would definitely use them again for any similarly complex trip.

A really outstanding experience

Pros. The guides. Extremely knowledgeable, fluent in English, willing to adapt to our interests/needs, best we've ever had. Firebird's partners. Firebird (I think) uses in-country partners to locate drivers/guides and hotels. This means we got high quality in all cases. Having a 24/7 help line. Veronica N responded quickly and appropriately. Cons. Biggest one is really a suggestion: Firebird should ensure that travelers have a way to immediately contact drivers/guides and vice versa so that delays or difficulties locating each other can be resolved. Also not quite a con - when working with Firebird to put together a bespoke tour, you need to look at details, including the order in which you'll travel to different locations. One of our days, as scheduled, would have involved lengthy backtracking. We pointed that out and Firebird worked out our proposed alternative. Just stay on top of the details when planning. No one will care as much about your trip as you will. Details. Alex P started putting our bespoke tour to Spain together in August and spent 3 months tweaking the tour over and over as I kept changing things. He never applied any pressure to actually buy anything and remained pleasant through the entire process. He even was willing to build something in that no one was familiar with (FYI, there's a railroad museum in Madrid). Our guides were amazing. In Madrid, we did a walking tour the first day. The second day, our guide, Christina, had been briefed to take us to the Prado and then to several other sights. We told her that we wanted to see the Prado, but were also more interested in the Museo Reina Sofia (Picasso's Guernica is there) than in the other sights, some of which we'd seen the day before. She immediately adjusted, found us a nice place to sit while she stood on line to get us Reina Sofia tickets, and then gave us a fabulous tour. While Christina was the only guide we asked to "design on the fly", the other guides were also outstanding. To be honest, we did a short cruise with our favorite cruise line after this and, while their excursion guides are good, they really didn't begin to compare to these. Firebird also booked us into a flamenco show. Happily, we had watched a documentary on flamenco a month or two earlier. This show was authentic flamenco and if we hadn't learned more about this art form, we might have expected something else. As it was, it was a really enriching experience. Lots of companies offer tours and do them well. I think that one of the differentiating factors is how the company responds when something goes wrong - which can always happen. We had two minor issues, both of which were resolved quickly and to our satisfaction: There was one small glitch that I mentioned under the cons - Alex had included a direct train from Seville to Grenada and then, the following day, a car to drive us to Cordoba and back. The train tickets that were actually booked by the logistics department were NOT direct, so the trip not only took longer and it they required a rapid change of trains in...Cordoba! Dragging luggage on and off of trains in a station we were unfamiliar with and then spending 6 hours in a car the next day to return to that city sounded dreadful, so we suggested that we get off the train in Cordoba, do our tour and then be driven to Grenada. That was when we discovered that Firebird books non-changable tickets. The new tickets from Seville to Cordoba were a total of $36 for the two of us, so after a wee bit of back and forth, Firebird made the change. The only other hiccup was a driver who failed to show up to transport us from the train station to our hotel. We waited a bit, took a taxi, and reported back to Veronica (making sure she knew this wasn't a huge issue), who checked in with the driver's company, refunded the price of our taxi AND offered us our choice of one of three things to make up for the aggravation. All three options were very nice and the ability to choose which would make us happiest was very thoughtful. Doing a private/bespoke tour is not ever going to be cheap, but we felt this tour was really good value for money. We certainly enjoyed Spain and the experience of working with Firebird. Certainly will use them again and can recommend them without hesitation.

Great Experience with Firebird

Great Experience with Firebird. Worked on variations of itinaray with us. Even made some last minute adds for us. All transfers and tour pick ups were punctual. Some minor glitches but support promptly handle making our trip experience top notch! Thank you Firebird Team.

My husband and I want to see Italy

My husband and I want to see Italy and experience everything Italy had to offer. We want no stress during this trip and Firebird tours did an amazing job. They booked hotel rooms, transfer by private car service, tickets for the trains, guides that were so knowledgeable and who purchased tickets in advance so we didn’t have to wait on line for anything. Pick us up from the airport in Milan and when we finished our tour got us to the airport in Rome so that we could come back to the US. Thank you for making our dreams come true. Jill

Firebird Tours - great Italy experience

From the beginning of planning over a year ago the ability to customize the trip and ease of contact with this company has been amazing. First started planning with Natalie and she was always quick to respond to any question and offered options. Every arrangement was perfectly timed- never had to wait for transfers- always felt everything was perfectly prepared. All of the hotels were wonderful and each was very well situated close to attractions. Firebird Tour of Paris and Normandy-Excellent

Firebird put together a great tour of Paris and Normandy for us. To start with, Natalie, their Destination Specialist, was incredibly helpful to us in developing our tour schedule for Northern France. Also, she was always prompt to respond to our questions with very useful answers. The transfers to and from the airport were flawless. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and personable and all spoke English very well. The tours were well planned and hit all the necessary points of each subject. In other words, they made very good use of our time in France. I would strongly encourage anyone interested in planning a tour anywhere to contact Firebird!

Norway trip

We reached out to Firebird to help us arrange our 10 day vacation to Norway. We were very pleased with all of our activities. We were heavy on doing Ferry rides, but no complaints, as the Fjords in Norway are amazing!! We had 1 hiccup with scheduled Viking Village guided tour times that were given. They had given us the summer times and they had just switched to their fall guided tours. We were refunded immediately. They were always a phone call or chat away with any questions we had. I would highly recommend scheduling your next vacation with Firebird.
