The Weeknd is an alternative R&B star from Toronto, Canada. He made his debut in 2010 on Youtube and released three mixtapes in 2011 which were critically acclaimed.

The Weeknd Announces 2022 North American Tour

The Weeknd has announced a 2022 tour in support of his most recent albums, Dawn FM and 2020’s After Hours . The first leg of the trek will see him perform concerts in stadia across the United States and Canada. The tour will feature special guest Doja Cat . According to a press release, there will be more concerts in Mexico, South America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East announced soon. Find the dates for the first leg below.

The Weeknd has also partnered with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to launch the XO Humanitarian Fund, Powered by World Food Programme. The fund works toward ending the global hunger crisis. The Weeknd has donated $500,000 to the fund, according to a press release, and plans to contribute an additional $1 from each tour ticket sold. “The goal with this fund is to provide immediate life-saving support to people who are on the brink of starvation,” the Weeknd said in a statement. “I’m so thankful to have WFP as a partner and to further expand our reach to those who need it most.”

Last year, the Weeknd postponed his tour for the third time due to the pandemic . When explaining his reasons for doing so, the Weeknd promised the new version of the tour would be “something bigger and special for you which requires stadiums.”

After announcing the end of his After Hours era with “ Take My Breath ” last summer, the Weeknd revealed Dawn FM just a few days before its arrival last month. Swedish House Mafia remixed “ Sacrifice ” for an “Alternate World” edition of the project, which also included the joint track “ Moth to a Flame ” and Agents of Time’s remix of “Take My Breath.”

It’s difficult to imagine that an intensely theatrical performer like the Weeknd — whose videos, concerts, 2021 Super Bowl Halftime performance and lyrics are loaded with vibrant, at times disturbing imagery — would launch his first-ever stadium tour without spectacle.

And thankfully, after several  incidents of unwanted drama — including two Covid-related delays, the postponement of the tour’s intended opening date in Toronto last weekend due to a Canada-wide wireless outage, and original opening act Doja Cat dropping out due to tonsil surgery — for the belated first night of his “After Hours Til Dawn” tour in Philadelphia, the theatrics were all onstage.

The concert took place on a humid July night in Philadelphia, which had a temperature of 87 degrees as the show opened with sets from producer-artist Mike Dean and Canadian electronic act Kaytranada, but it had cooled down by the time the Weeknd’s headlining set began at around 9 p.m. The Weeknd’s best music traffics in mood, nuance and a mixture of ecstasy and darkness, and that carried over onto a sprawling, technically complex stage, which broadly resembles a towering, crumbling cityscape and spanned much of the Lincoln Financial Field’s grounds. For the two-hour set, the singer, decked as usual in black, was accompanied by a gang of sheathed dancers  — and a crowd of nearly 70,000 people, many of whom were devotees in red jackets and bandaged noses, in emulation of his “After Hours” look .

Rising onto the set’s centerpiece with his shrouded dancers below, the Weeknd emerged wearing a clear face mask and a car-length coat, easing into an oscillating, electro take on the “After Hours” opener “Alone Again” with a clear, warm voice that conveyed both despondence and a world-weary ennui.

Dropping down to stage level, he followed his dancers into a new-wave-inflected take on “Gasoline,” picking up the pace and dancing, holding out his arms to the audience even as the lyrics held them at bay.

The set that followed was heavy on his two most recent albums, this year’s “Dawn FM” and 2020’s “After Hours,” with his earlier hits dropped in strategically to keep the crowd hyped — although the arrangements of many of the songs were revamped. His angelic voice soared through the Swedish House Mafia remix version of “Sacrifice,” a disco-fied “How Do I Make You Love Me?” and a jittery version of “Can’t Feel My Face” that featured a break reminiscent of vintage New Order. Those three tracks, performed as a medley, turned the venue into an apocalyptic dance party, with the Weeknd as its jovial, devilish host.

Although musicians were not visible on the sprawling stage, they certainly made their presence heard: Mangled guitars and wheezing church organs dominated his recent hit “Take My Breath” and “Hurricane,” followed by the sultry “Often.”

He brought the energy level down with spacey takes on “Starboy” and “Heartless,” with cobalt-blue lighting adding to the cool atmosphere; the ambient R&B songs acted as a cooling agent to the heated emotions and red hues of the night’s first half.

That mood continued through the evening’s more ruminative second half as the Weeknd moved gently but no less theatrically through the ‘90s-Motown vibes of “Out of Time,” a celestial “Less Than Zero” and a cinematic “Save Your Tears.” Through these songs, which were filled with bluesy guitar licks and soulful synths, he brought down his voice an octave, adding to the lovelorn emotions of the lyrics.

Of course, the two-hour show wound to a close with the biggest of his many hits, the ‘80s inflected global smash “Blinding Lights,” a song that in many ways summed up the contrasts of the show, the music and the performer: an avant-garde superstar, an aloof lover man, a combination of beauty and madness, all contained in a concert that somehow felt intimate in a football stadium with nearly 70,000 fellow devotees.

The Weeknd Sets ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ North American Stadium Tour

The Weeknd has finally detailed the new dates for his long-postponed North American tour, with the singer set to embark on his first-ever stadium tour this summer.

The first leg of the After Hours Til Dawn Tour begins July 8 with a hometown gig at Toronto’s Rogers Centre. After that, Abel Tesfaye will return to the football stadium confines of his Super Bowl halftime performance for 17 more shows at NFL venues spanning from Philadelphia to Los Angeles.

The Weeknd’s trek, then the After Hours World Tour, was originally set for 2020  and then  postponed until 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic; it was next rescheduled for early 2022 before the Weeknd opted to push the dates back again in order to bring his live experience to football stadiums.

Now dubbed the After Hours Til Dawn tour to incorporate his new LP Dawn FM , the first leg of the jaunt will now also feature Doja Cat as special guest. Check out the Weeknd’s site for ticket information.

The singer also launched his XO humanitarian fund in conjunction with the United Nations World Food Programme. The singer will donate one dollar from each ticket in addition to a $500,000 donation from the singer and an additional $1 million donation from World Food Program USA.

The Weeknd will be finally hitting the road in January 2022 in support of his After Hours album, released in March 2020. Abel officially announced plans for the (twice-rescheduled) After Hours Tour on Wednesday (Feb. 3).

Tickets are on sale now for the rescheduled dates, and a release promises that previously-purchased tickets will be valid for the corresponding rescheduled dates (listed below). Tickets for the new dates go on sale beginning Monday, Feb. 8 at 10:00 a.m. local time here .

Between soaring romantic ballads and breakup anthems, love is a leading source of inspiration for many musicians. However, some artists have gone a step beyond penning a love song for their partners by featuring their real-life loves in music videos, adding another layer to their art.

From Justin Bieber's cinematic ode to his wife to Shawn Mendes's sultry duet with his ex, these are six times Canadian musicians had their muses star as their on-screen love interests.

'Let Me Go,' Avril Lavigne feat. Chad Kroeger

Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger were married from 2013 to 2015, and fell in love while working on Lavigne's self-titled fifth studio album. "Let Me Go" was released in 2013 after the rockers tied the knot and the song marked their first duet together. Although it was originally penned as a breakup ballad, the pair changed the song's ending to highlight their blossoming romance. The music video is a melancholy love story, with Kroeger portraying Lavigne's former lover while Lavigne belts out her romantic woes as she plays piano in a mansion. It's not entirely clear if Kroeger is supposed to be a ghost or simply a figment of Lavigne's imagination, but he embraces her as she sings before disappearing at the end.

'Anyone (On the Road),' Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber's song "Anyone" originally had a boxing-themed music video, which he dropped at the start of 2021. That version depicted Bieber training to compete in the ring and starred actress Zoey Deutch as his love interest. However, he released an alternative video for the song 20 days later featuring his wife, Hailey, as the star. "You," the pop star tweeted followed by a series of heart emojis when sharing an early clip of the video. The video features footage of the couple cuddling and kissing, as well as numerous shots of Hailey swimming and sitting in a boat. Later that same year, the couple also briefly played themselves in the music video for Drake's song "Popstar."

'Take Care,' Drake feat. Rihanna

Drake and Rihanna had an on-again, off-again relationship throughout the 2010s while also collaborating on several songs together. The Toronto rapper starred in Rihanna's music videos as her love interest for her hits "Work" and "What's My Name?" and in 2012, it was her turn to star in the video for Drake's song "Take Care." The minimalist video depicts the pair hugging each other while they sing, with Drake kissing her on the forehead. The sultry collaboration was their second-to-last song together, as Rihanna revealed in 2018 that they are no longer close .

'So Pure,' Alanis Morissette 

Alanis Morissette and actor Dash Mihok dated from 1998 to 2001, and Mihok appeared in the 1999 music video for her song "So Pure." The pair portray dance partners in different time periods, twirling through different styles ranging from tap dancing to ballroom. "When it came time to create this video, there was no question that there would be dancing in it," she said in a statement .

'In the Night,' the Weeknd

The Weeknd and model Bella Hadid dated on and off between 2015 and 2019, beginning when he reached out to her to be part of the cover artwork for 2014's Beauty Behind the Madness . Although she declined, she did agree to star as a skilled murderer in his 2015 video for "In the Night." The plot follows Hadid and an army of strippers who are out for revenge, gorily assassinating men who have taken advantage of them. Ultimately, she saves the Weeknd by shooting a gangster and the two escape on a motorcycle. The bloody '80s-inspired video emphasizes the Weeknd's love of horror, which was apparent during his Beauty Behind the Madness era.

' Señorita ,' Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello 

In 2019, Shawn Mendes and then-girlfriend Camila Cabello released a steamy music video for their pop collaboration "Señorita," which set the internet ablaze . Cabello portrays a waitress, who falls for Mendes while he plays guitar and later rides a motorcycle. Sparks fly as the two dance together before heading off to the bedroom, though their characters part ways at the video's end. The singers dated for two years, and ended their relationship officially in 2021, although they appeared to reunite briefly in 2023 before splitting once more.

day 1 Arrival in Moscow. City tour

You have only two nights and three days at your disposal, so you can’t waste your time! As soon as you arrive at the Moscow airport, search for the guide with the sign with your name on it. You will get acquainted with the guide and the driver, and will immediately take you to the city center for the panoramic city tour. You will see the famous Red Square, magnificent MSU’s building, beautiful pedestrian Moscow streets, VDNKh Exhibition center, Sparrow Hills with the great view and many other sites.

After the tour is over, you are taken to the hotel and check-in. Till the afternoon, you have spare time on hand, so you can either book extra tours or have a rest after the flight.

day 2 Kremlin, Cathedrals and the Armory

The Kremlin and its cathedrals are the inherent parts of Moscow's image and its main sight. You will meet the guide at the hotel lobby and they will take you to the Red Square and the territory of the Kremlin with the skip-the-line tickets. Inside you will see the unusual monuments of Tsar Cannon and Tsar Bell; the Mausoleum (if time allows, you will enter inside the Mausoleum, too) and two of the three beautiful traditional Cathedrals of the Kremlin.

As a cherry on the pie, this excursion includes a visit to the Armory. Besides the genuine ancient armor collection, the Armory remains a range of Faberge eggs and Russian art pieces. Make sure you have a reservation in the Armory in advance, as it is quite hard to get there on the spot without a booking.

If you want to book an optional tour of Moscow Metro and Old Arbat, the Kremlin part will be rescheduled for the afternoon, as you can participate in metro guided tours only till 1 p.m. Here you will enjoy the most beautiful metro stations, looking like tsar palaces or exquisite theatre halls; when you leave the last underground station, you will be taken to a relaxing walk along the famous pedestrian Arbat Street, with cozy buildings, unusual shops, and restaurants. You may be lucky to see street performances while you are walking and fall into the stream of Moscow youth vibes.

day 3 Tretyakov Gallery. Departure transfer

If your return flight is scheduled for the morning, your driver will take you directly to the airport, but if there is some extra time, you can meet the guide for the last time, and, having packed your clothes in the car and checked out, you are welcome to visit the Tretyakov Gallery — the best place to get acquainted with Russian classical pictural art. This is one of the most visited museums in Moscow and it is highly recommended not to miss it.

After the museum, you say goodbye to your guide and head to the airport with the driver. See you next time!
