A Stroll in cardiff
"Dylan was superb! He was extremely knowledgeable and a loyal Welshman! We very much enjoyed our time with him and would definitely book with him again!"
A pleasant surprise
"Last minute booking for a walking tour and had no expectations. Turned out to be a really good educational, information filled 3 hours Dylan was very passionate about the history of Cardiff and wales itself and this is evident through the thorough knowledge he had. It was an eye opener as he pointed out multiple points of interest around Cardiff which I believe would have been unnoticed if we went walking around ourselves. Thank you Dylan."
Great tour!
"Really enjoyed our tour with Dylan! Gave us a good overview of Cardiff and great recommendations. "
Time travel in Cardiff city center
"Dylan is a very knowledgeable guide. We dud not know anything about Cardiff and the 2-hour tour helped us understand the history of that city which has changed so much in a few centuries. Dylan was very flexible on the meeting location and super friendly. He also shared some foodie tips that we really appreciated! We’d definitely recommend this tour to anyone new to Cardiff."

Welcome to Cardiff
Cardiff is the capital city of Wales and my home town. It is a great place to live and work. Cardiff is the capital of Wales and Europe’s third best capital city to live in.
Great wealth was generated in Cardiff during the Industrial Revolution and docks area has enjoyed a huge regeneration effort creating thr new and iconic Cardiff Bay.
Cardiff is also the home town of Doctor Who and used as a film location for many TV series and films. I really enjoy leading walking tours around the City and the Bay.
This is me ..
I am based in Cardiff and offer tours across Wales. I have a long career in Tourism and have travelled widely but nowhere is quite like Wales. Join me to travel in and around Wales.
I love a good story and Wales has plenty of them from the medieval tales of Princes and Poets to the sci fi antics of Doctor Who and the Cardiff Temporal Rift which runs across Roald Dahl Plaza in Mermaid Quay .. if you know you know !!

A selection of Trip Adviser comments – Trip Adviser
We had an absolutely marvellous tour with Lucy around Cardiff Bay. It was a tour full of history, architecture, socio-economics, all delivered by Lucy in a very light and deft way, and well illustrated by historical photographs which she brought along. The tour was full of contrasts; from the phenomenal growth of Cardiff to become the coal capital of the world, to the city’s decline as the era of coal waned, then to the redevelopment and regeneration of the Bay
Really interesting tour and Lucy explained everything very clearly at a good pace, friendly and would use again. Came away feeling I had learnt something about this new city I have moved into
Lucy is very knowledgeable and we had a great time exploring Cardiff with her! She is a lovely person and we really enjoyed the special touch that you stop together for a refreshment while on tour. She went out of her way to accommodate our requests at the last minute. We highly recommend doing a Cardiff walking tour with Lucy!
I thought I knew Cardiff but this tour gave me a much better insight into aspects of the city and was thoroughly enjoyable. Would also be an excellent tour for those new to the city or just on a short stay and wanting to get orientated, know, where to go and to understand the city.

Yuthika, South Africa, Feb 2023
Eugene was an excellent tour guide. He is very knowledgeable and managed to keep a large group of people engaged for over 2 hours with stories and facts about Cardiff. We learned so much and had a fantastic time. The route that he chose was also pram friendly, which we really appreciated! Would definitely recommend.
Emilie, Cardiff, June 2022
Our tour of Cardiff by Eugene was fantastic! I’ve lived in Cardiff for three years and I learned more during the tour than I have in my time living here. Eugene is very personable and made our tour very fun as he adapted it to the audience’s nationalities. 10/10 highly recommend!

About Cardiff
Including tips for the best time to visit cardiff.
Situated in the historic county of Glamorgan, Cardiff is one of the largest cities in the United Kingdom and a relatively young capital of Wales. From architecture dating back to the Norman period to streets lined with trendy bistros, the city puts forth a good balancing act as a modern metropolis with medieval roots.
Tourism in Cardiff is largely centred on its rich history and culture. A visit to Cardiff Castle will give you a glimpse of the region’s medieval chronicles. You can also take a walk through the grounds of Castell Coch, a Gothic revival castle peeping out of ancient beech woods. Another prominent fortification to explore is the 13th-century Caerphilly Castle appearing to rise from a lake.
The natural backdrops of this Welsh city are best discovered on foot – be it walking along the waterfront area of the scenic Cardiff Bay or the heritage trails of Fforest Fawr. You’ll also spot many urban parks on your trip to Cardiff, one of them being the Bute Park – a landscaped garden along the banks of River Taff.
Cardiff’s shopping portfolio comprises timeless Victorian and Edwardian arcades, suburban retail parks and indoor markets. You’ll find independent boutiques and cafés at Royal Arcade, high-end brands at St David’s and fresh organic produce at Pontcanna Farmers Market.

What other travelers say about cardiff.
Cardiff is a great city.
March 3, 2024
Cardiff is a great city. The compact layout makes it easy to explore. City centre is pedestrianised in parts which makes it a better experience. The indoor market is a wonder for foodies. Lots of good chains in general but also some great ones further out on City road. (Shaam Nights) Great to be able to get to the sea so quickly.
Always an absolute pleasure to spend a few days in Cardiff.
Always an absolute pleasure to spend a few days in Cardiff. A sophisticated capital city with zesty character, big enough to be interesting, intimate enough to get your arms around. The historic Victorian/Edwardian covered shopping arcades are a real pleasure e.g. Brogue Trader for fine gentleman's shoes where the Service itself was worth it as highly educational theatre. The authentic old-style pubs, like The Albany in Roath were a friendly treat. Similarly the Art Galleries like the Albany Gallery are ever-changing delights. The Rugby was a magnificent occasion as ever. Casanova Restaurant is a hidden gem, and the food & Italian wines are magnificent. Take a boat trip from the Castle Ground down to The Bay...a treat.

Cardiff is a fantastic place to visit with plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants. Some with live entertainment. Also theatres and so many shops, you’ll be spoilt for choice! We ate in Ty Madeira (St Mary Street) the food was excellent we had the two course lunch menu. We also visited the Live Lounge (The Friory) and saw many live singing acts, all very good.
The Castle area of the City is lovely.

The Castle area of the City is lovely. Many shopping arcades and shopping Mall. Beware of rugby match days! Tried to find somewhere for a meal, but cafes, bars and restaurants where packed due to fans wanting to watch on TV!
Cardiff is a compact walkable city.
Cardiff is a compact walkable city. Lots of eateries and pubs. Excellent shopping in the small arcades and streets. Luxury shopping in a large shopping mall. Don’t miss the Castle and the impressive museum.

Arrived to book in at 13:00 and booked in ok, along with other guests, discovered early evening NO hot water in building when spoke to reception they knew at time of booking but FAILED to inform us and other guests of the issue, only to disclose it wouldn’t be fixed till following morning this is disgraceful and very unprofessional not to inform guests, 1 receptionists told me they didn’t want to say anything expecting it to be fixed. This caused extreme problems as my Fiancée has a disability of a Stoma which hit water is required at all times to limit infections, they provided an extra kettle in room but when sink was tried plus did not hold the water as faulty, informed reception again asked for a sterile bowl , hotel worker at 23:00 hrs knocked on door and gave us 2 tubs ( butter or ice cream type) disgusting .. have full pictures and video .

Booking.com is part of Booking Holdings Inc., the world leader in online travel and related services.
Verified reviews from real guests.
We have more than 70 million property reviews, all from real, verified guests .
How does it work?
It starts with a booking.
The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.
Followed by a trip
When guests stay at the property, they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff is, and more.
And finally, a review
After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.
If you booked through us and want to leave a review, please sign in first.
