How to unlock fast travel in Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Ancient Greece is beautiful, but sometimes you don't have time to enjoy the scenery, so here's how to unlock fast travel in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

How to pass time by waiting in Assassin's Creed Odyssey

The power of night and day is at your fingertips if you learn how to pass time by waiting in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

Some folks prefer to take the languid route in games, slowly ambling their way across game worlds in no hurry to reach a destination. For those of us with a bit more impetus in life, the ability to fast travel is a godsend. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey offers a massive selection of islands to sail between or ride across, meaning at times you might prefer the option to jump directly to your destination of choice. In this article we'll teach you how to Fast Travel in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

How to Fast Travel in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

© Ubisoft

You won't be able to fast travel from the start of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. In order to unlock the feature, you first need to unlock a number of synchronization points around the map. These tend to be at the top of peaks, and often you'll need to climb to reach them. If you haven't found any yet, they're marked on your map by an eagle symbol, meaning you can set a waypoint to help you reach them faster. Any that appear white on the map have yet to be unlocked, so head towards them. Whenever you reach one, climb to the top and you'll be given the option to unlock it via synchronization, turning the map icon gold. Once you've done this once, you can use it in future to fast travel between other points you've unlocked.

It's also possible to fast travel to your ship, an ability that you'll unlock after just a few hours into the game's main story. Given your ship largely acts as your base of operations, it's easily the most useful fast travel point, but it's still worth unlocking the others when you get the chance. Just remember than your ship only acts as a fast travel point when docked at a port, so make sure you're not diving off recklessly unless you plan to return shortly!

With the ability to fast travel at your disposal, you're ready to explore the full breadth of Ubisoft's Ancient Greece. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Viewpoint Locations Map

October 8, 2018 by PowerPyx 49 Comments

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has 95 Viewpoint Locations (Fast Travel Points). This guide contains a map that shows where to find all Viewpoints.

Viewpoints can be synchronized by climbing them and pressing the interaction-button. They can then be used as fast travel points permanently. What’s special in AC Odyssey is that the game does not reveal them to you automatically nor does it tell you how many there are. The only way to reveal them is to get close enough to them (within roughly 300-500 meters / yards). Given how large the map is this can be quite the task, which is where this viewpoints map comes in handy.

Those are all Fast Travel Viewpoints you can find in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, happy traveling!

Now there should exist 116 viewpoints I have counted and recounted as of all the new viewpoints that have been added including the third newest viewpoint in Macedonia

January 6, 2020 at 6:20 pm

I have uncovered all the viewpoints shown on that map, plus another 10 more… and still have not achieved the Herme’s Homie achievement! ‘xD

January 6, 2020 at 6:34 pm

Guess I’ll have to get started on what I didn’t want to get started.. my missing underwater locations 🙄😧🤦🏻‍♂️

' src=

June 25, 2020 at 1:30 am

@Sam Herme’s Homie isn’t about all viewpoints it is about defog everything from all water to all land look close to very small islands you missed by going there and you will get it ^^

' src=

September 8, 2020 at 9:08 am

No there’s 6 in lesbos

' src=

October 8, 2018 at 5:57 am

On closer inspection, it would appear you’ve missed a few, one off the top of my head is the one in Lesbos, to the northeast of the island

' src=

October 8, 2018 at 1:13 pm

I have 95 viewpoint

Any idea where the 4 missing ones might be? 🙂 There’s unfortunately no way to keep track in-game. If you find a new location please let me know.

October 8, 2018 at 2:45 pm

Makedonia / Link removed by mod

October 8, 2018 at 9:26 pm

Thank you, that was the missing one! Found it where your image showed it 🙂

' src=

October 8, 2018 at 3:57 pm

There’s another one you’re missing in Makedonia. The middle of the eastern-most peninsula.

October 8, 2018 at 8:03 pm

Thanks, looking into that as well!

' src=

October 8, 2018 at 8:38 pm

First of all, thank you for your card! If you unlock the two lookout points you have unlocked all viewpoints! 1. Macadonia (bottom left the larger of the three islands) and Lesbos (above the lookout point of the Poseidon) …

October 8, 2018 at 9:24 pm

Updated the map now!

Thanks to all of you guys who submitted missing locations 🙂

If you viewed the map before the update you may have to clear your browser cache to see the updated map (added 1 in Makedonia, 1 in Lesbos).

October 8, 2018 at 10:54 pm

you have 95 viewpoints on your map, count carefully

October 9, 2018 at 12:26 am

Indeed you are right! I forgot to count two on Samos. So yes we have 95 total.

' src=

October 10, 2018 at 5:16 pm

Is this all the view points in the game? : D

' src=

October 23, 2018 at 6:01 pm

are you sure the total viewpoints has 95? i count everything but apparently i got more than 95 so i’m not sure was it me or you

' src=

October 28, 2018 at 10:48 pm

I have all of the viewpoints listed on the map, but Ubisoft club says I only have 98.95% of them unlocked, could you check your Ubisoft to make sure I’m not missing anything?

' src=

October 31, 2018 at 12:51 am

I’m having the same problem too

' src=

November 3, 2018 at 1:51 am

Yep me too! But my Ubisoft account says I’ve only completed 98.9% of the main story but have completed it all so not sure what’s going on there

' src=

November 24, 2018 at 6:25 pm

There has to be a 96th because my Ubisoft club account says I have 98.95% of the sync points and I have all 95 you listed. Thanx for the map you help me find 2 I was missing.

' src=

November 28, 2018 at 5:48 am

Counting these is tough but I’m at 95 and matching the updated map and now I’m at 100%. It took a while for the Ubisoft club percentage to update after I got my last one. I checked immediately after and it was still <100% but after roaming the map aimlessly for about 45 minutes I checked again and I'm at 100%. Hope that helps.

Fellow gamers, I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’ve counted all of my synchronisation points (not including fast travels like The Arena, or Ancient Forge) multiple times and have reach approximately 113…

March 26, 2019 at 4:08 am

I’ve documented them all if you would like me to post the list here?

March 26, 2019 at 4:33 am

Hey, I think they added some new viewpoints through DLC. This guide / map was from the day-one version without DLC. An updated list wouldn’t hurt, feel free to post it.

March 26, 2019 at 5:10 am

I haven’t actually 100% the game as I’m still haven’t finished the final chapter (and I don’t have any DLC yet), so please keep in mind I might not actually have them all, but hopefully this checklist will help. Also collecting all the sync points doesn’t unlock or reward any trophies; however revealing all the islands (yes, even tiny ones) does unlock the Hermes’s Homie trophy. Happy gaming 🙂

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: How to Fast Travel

Image of AOTF Staff

The map in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is massive.  We don’t blame you if you would rather fast travel across the world than taking a boat, horse, or by going on foot.  There are only a couple of different ways to fast travel in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and one of them is going to require that you do a little exploration of the game.

The best way to fast travel to all of the different islands in the game is by finding all the Synchronization Points.  These points function similarly to previous Assassin’s Creed games in that they feature scenic views of the surrounding area and will highlight points of interest for you to explore.  However, they also function as fast travel spots once you’ve synchronized them.

On the map, sync points will have an Eagle Icon.  Once synchronized this eagle will turn from white to green and give you the option to fast travel.  Note that you can only fast travel when you are not in combat.  Simply highlight the icon and then press the X Button (Xbox) or Square Button (PlayStation) to fast travel.

Alternatively, you can fast travel to your boat wherever it is docked by highlighting The Adrestia.  This is denoted by a golden ship icon which when hovered over will allow you to press X or Square to fast travel to where you docked it last.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Ship and Crew Guide

This guide will help you learn how the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Ship gameplay works, how to get your crew, how to upgrade different features, how Ship Battles work and, of course, all the other basics!

This article does NOT contain any story spoilers from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey!

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey expands on the ship mechanic from Origins by adding a number of improvements. The naval gameplay is a lot more involved, you can upgrade various parts of your ship, recruit your own crew, board enemy ships, loot whatever is left on the battlefield and more! Let’s start from the beginning!

How to get your Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Ship

You receive your own ship and crew right after you finish the first area (Kephallonia), which also serves as a rough tutorial for the game. As you leave for Megaris, you will also have your first naval combat experience. If you have played Origins, you will not find it very difficult to grasp the mechanics as the basics are the same here too.

You take control of your ship and leave it with the same shortcut button. It’s E by default on PC. I believe it’s Y on Xbox One controller. You can leave the command of your ship and dive to look for treasures at any given time. Barnabas (your… let’s call him assistant) will give an immediate order to the crew to stop and wait for you in that exact spot. You can also dock the ship at ports and harbors.

Here are the Basic Ship Movements Commands in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey:

  • You can press forward (W on PC) to get up to full speed for a short amount of time. This is useful for ramming enemy ships and is one of the most damaging attacks in your arsenal.
  • Pressing the backwards button (S on PC) will slow the ship. You can even move the ship backwards, but I do not recommend you do that. At least not often.
  • You can turn to the left and right by pressing the A and S on PC or the corresponding keys on your controller.
  • Hit the Travel Speed key (Space on PC – the button at the bottom left on the screen) to bring the sail down and move faster towards your next target or destination. This is usually the way to travel when you are not in combat.

One step up – combat abilities:

  • Shoot arrows at enemy ships
  • Shoot javelins at enemy ships (closer range)
  • Ram the enemy ship – press forward to gain full speed and hit the enemy vessel from the side for maximum damage
  • Shield – order your soldiers to put their shields up, protects the ship and your crew from incoming arrows from enemy vessels.
  • When the enemy ship is at low (critical) health, an anchor icon will appear on top of it letting you know you can board it (default key on PC is E). Then you and your crew can kill the soldiers, loot the chest and don’t forget to dive in and look for more chests after the battle.

Your ship is more maneuverable and faster than the enemy ships you will fight against in Assassin’s Creed Odysse’s Naval Combat gameplay. You can use that to your advantage – to avoid being rammed and ram your opponents instead. More on that later on when we get to the tactics section.

If your ship is lacking upgrades, you will often find yourself struggling in a fight against more than one enemy vessel. In situations like these it might be best to focus one of their boats, take it down, then run away from the battle to restore your health and return to finish it.

AC Odyssey Ship Menu Screen Overview

After you get your ship, the Ship menu will become available. In the featured video at the top of this guide you can see all of the components of your Ship.

At the top you see the same bar with the information about your crafting materials that you see on every other screen of the menu. Below it are the slots which you can control and upgrade.

On the left side you have the Arsenal, Weapons Damage and Ship and Crew Endurance upgrades. On the right side are the Lieutenants and Cosmetics, which I explain in a separate section of the guide. Below you can find more info on what each one of the perks on the left side does and why is it important to upgrade them:

Arsenal – in this category are the three upgrades that increase your ship’s attacks:

  • Arrow Volleys – Upgrades the Archers attack. You have level 1 unlocked by default, which allows you to shoot one arrow volley. Upgrading this will cost you crafting materials and currency, but will also allow you to shoot more arrow volleys one after another and will lower the reload time.
  • Javelin Throws – Upgrades the Javelin Throw attack. Same as the previous one, upgrading this skill allows you to shoot more Javelin Throws one after another and will decrease the reload time.
  • Fire Braziers – This is an ability you have to unlock first. It allows you to set your Arrows and Javelins on fire for more damage. Upgrading it grants you Fire Power segments and increases your Fire buildup

Weapons Damage – The following three skills improve your soldiers’ performance in naval combat:

  • Arrows – Upgrade to stronger arrows for increased damage and to create Weak Points in the enemy ships faster. Each level gives you increased performance.
  • Ram – The more upgraded your Ram is, the more damage you will deal when going at high-speed against an enemy ship. Upgrading this perk also increases the chance to create Weak Points in the enemy ships.
  • Javelins – Upgrade to stronger Javelins for increased damage and to create Weak Points faster. Each level gives you increased performance.

Ship and Crew Endurance – the next three perks increase your ship’s survivability.

  • Hull – Upgrading this perk will increase your ship’s Health and Armor as well as grant you additional slots for Lieutenants (more about them later).
  • Rower Stamina – Rower endurance can be improved to boost for a longer duration (allowing you for better maneuvering and ramming tactics) and more often. While boosting, turning the ship will result in drifting. Leveling up this perk will granr you more Rower Stamina and will increase its refill rate.
  • Crew Armor – Your crew becomes more effective at bracing (Q key on PC to make them put up their shields for protection against enemy arrows, for example). Leveling up this perk grants more damage reduction when bracing as well as less incoming fire damage from flaming arrows and javelins.

Upgrading your Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Ship

While the ships don’t earn XP and level up, they can (and must) be upgraded to be able to face the more serious challenges and opponents. Each upgrade costs money (drachmae) and crafting resources: Wood, Leather, Iron Metal, and Ancient Tablets. These same resources are also used for upgrading your character’s armor and weapons.

Upgrading the ship gets more and more expensive with each upgrade. You have to make your strategy based on your goals and affordability.

Alpha Ships are serious challenge and you cannot just face them with your Adrestia’s basic gear. There are Alpha ships available early on as well. They can be found in many different places in the world of Ancient Greece. You do not need to wait to face them when you reach the end-game, but you better be prepared. Ship Upgrades are among the most important factors after player experience and maneuverability.

What are Lieutenants for and how to recruit them

On the top right side of the Ship Menu screen you have four slots for the Special Lieutenants. At first only one slot is unlocked. When you do the first mission with your ship, you will recruit the first one – the archer Phemios. Each Lieutenant has a special skill. You can have up to four assigned. To unlock more slots, level up the Hull perk of the ship from the bottom left side of the Ship menu.

Elite Lieutenants are hard to come by and you will have to roam the open seas in the world of Ancient Greece looking for the best ones. Most are available for recruitment via side missions.

If you use your combat abilities wisely, you can knock down or stun your opponents right before you kill them. This will open up an additional dialogue with the option to recruit them. If you choose to do so, open the Ship Menu screen and check the perk that this new Lieutenant has and decide if you want to actually hire them (place them on an empty slot).

An easy and quick example of how to find and recruit Lieutenants is in the video I have embedded above this paragraph. This strong guy is available right at the shores of Megaris. All you have to do is approach and knock him out. Then go to the Ship Menu screen and recruit him.

AC Odyssey Ship and Crew Cosmetics

In the bottom right of the Ship menu screen you’ve got a few cosmetics to choose from (if you have the cosmetic items, of course :P). The three tabs here are just for appearances. They will not have an effect on your ship and crew’s performance:

  • Ship Skin – changes the appearance of your ship.
  • Figurehead – places a figurehead at the front of your ship.
  • Crew Skins – changes the appearance of your crew.

Cosmetics are available both through gameplay and from the Ubisoft’s store. You can find cosmetics in chests as well as rewards from missions. One cool example is an underwater chest in the northern side of Octopus Bay (Hermit’s Dive Place of Interest). You will also earn cosmetics through missions. One such example is (mini spoiler alert!) the reward from the Olympic games after you win the final match.

My personal Figurehead cosmetic item is the Minotaur’s head. To get it you have to kill the legendary Minotaur beast .

The Epic Ships, available through the Live Events feature will reward you with a new skin for you to try on your ship. Epic Ships are tough challenges that happen on weekly basis and can happen anywhere on the map.

Your Ship and Crew Stats

At the bottom of the Ship menu you see the primary stats for your Ship:

  • Ship Health – Total amount of damage your ship can take before it is sunk. This value is based on your current level as well as the Hull perk upgrade.
  • Arrow Damage – Average amount of damage inflicted when all arrows hit the target. This value is also based on your current level plus the Arrow upgrades and Lieutenant perks.
  • Ramming Damage – Average amount of damage inflicted by ramming at full speed. The value is based on your current level plus the Ram upgrades and Lieutenant perks.
  • Javelin Damage – Average amount of damage inflicted when all Javelins hit the targeted ship. This value is modified by your character’s level and the Javelin upgrades.
  • Ship Armor – Amount of protection from damage received. This value is modified by your current level, the Hull upgrades and the Lieutenants perks.

What are the Best Upgrades for your Ship and Crew?

I would advise you to invest crafting materials and money into the Arrows and Fire upgrades first. The Arrows are a great long-range tool that, if aimed properly, does a significant amount of damage to the enemy ships. Being able to shoot arrows and/or javelins twice in a row gives you a decent advantage over pretty much any ship in the beginning of the game (and not only).

When you are surrounded by multiple ships, and especially on higher difficulties, it may become harder to see and predict where the attacks will come from (especially for beginner players). Upgrading your Crew’s Armor for the Brace perk is very useful in situations like these.

Upgrading the Hull is a given, of course. This is the perk that allows you to assign more Lieutenants, plus it also increases your ship’s armor and health, allowing you to last longer in combat.

Be careful when upgrading your ship. As I mentioned previously in this guide, the Naval gameplay is a lot more integrated into Assassin’s Creed Odyssey than it was in Origins, but it’s still more or less a side-activity for the most part. Always leave yourself enough crafting materials and money for the character upgrades, engravings and other things.

Naval Combat Gameplay

Here is a short clip, demonstrating the naval combat gameplay in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey with a low level ship and crew. The clip also features boarding the enemy ship right before sinking it.

Have any questions? Don’t hesitate to ask! Any feedback is also welcome. If you have extensive knowledge about the Naval combat and gameplay in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and want to share it with the world, leave a comment and enhance the experience of the beginner player, who has arrived to this guide to learn something new! :)

How to Fast Travel in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: How to Fast Travel

Fast travel is an absolute necessity in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey after a while, thanks to the sheer scale of its enormous rendition of Ancient Greece. Here’s how to fast travel in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey .

Ubisoft ‘s series offers one of the largest maps seen in the franchise. With tons of new content to explore, enemies to fight, and loot to find, this game will have you combing over every part of the map with a fine tooth comb. Odyssey takes your journey to the mystical lands of Ancient Greece. Of course, you’ll want to be able to move quickly around Greece, so you’ll need to know how to get around quickly.

You can’t just go fast traveling around the map anywhere you want in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. You’ll first need to find and unlock fast travel points .

Synchronization

As you’re exploring the world, you might notice a little eagle-shaped icon appear on your HUD. That’s indicating that a fast travel point is nearby. These tend to be in high-up places. Y’know, because you’re surveying the landscape and chillin’ with your eagle buddies.

If you’re struggling to find fast travel points to unlock, try opening up your map by pressing the touchpad on PS4, or the View button on Xbox One. You’ll now be able to scan around your nearby area a lot faster and pull out the closest fast travel point for you to unlock.

But there will definitely be an eagle icon in most towns within the game. At least one, but sometimes two or more. We’ve included an image of an unlocked fast travel point in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey below.

assassins creed odyssey fast travel, how to fast travel in assassin's creed odyssey

I recommend immediately going to the fast travel point in any new place you get to, if you’re impatient. A lot of the time, a quest will lead you pretty far and it’ll be a pain to get back.

Once you’ve climbed to the top of an eagle location you will need to synchronize with it just like in previous installments. To do this, you simply need to press Y on Xbox One, or Triangle on PS4. You’ll then get the panoramic camera pan as your eagle buddy flies around you.

When you’ve synchronized with the location you will have unlocked the ability to fast travel to it. Now you’re ready to actually fast travel in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Fast Travel Time

Now that you actually know how to synchronize, you’re finally able to fast travel in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. To do so, you’re going to want to go back to your map again by pressing the View button on Xbox One or touchpad on PS4. Look out for those same eagle icons we used to track down the point in the first place.

Any of these points you’ve synchronized with will now be green on your map. Simply move your cursor over the one you want to travel to and press X on Xbox One or Square on PS4, and you’ll be taken right there.

This is also true for your ship. You can do this anytime you’re not in combat, or near a dangerous foe. This will make things significantly easier when traversing the enormous map for a second or even third time while trying to complete side quests, collectibles, or finding hidden areas, such as underwater locations .

That’s everything you need to know about how to fast travel in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey . For more tips, tricks, and guides be sure to check out our Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Wiki .

How big is the odyssey map.

Whenever you see a fast travel point, which is denoted by a white eagle on the map, you’ll want to travel to it immediately. Climb the point once you’ve reached it, and press Y/Triangle to ‘Synchronize’, allowing you to fast travel back to this point in future. Exploring is generally pretty rewarding in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, as you can find tons of side quests with interesting characters (some of which you can even romance).

Exploration & Misc. Tips

  • Those bird symbols on the map denote synchronization locations. Head to the top of those points and synchronize to unlock a fast travel point. The more points you synchronize with, the faster Ikaros gets at identifying points, and at a wider range.

Ikarostips.jpg

  • Get trapped in an underwater cavern or just know you won't be able to reach the surface in time? Providing you aren't in conflict (i.e. fighting sharks) or too close to the ship, you can open the map screen and fast-travel back to the helm of your boat.
  • Sometimes, you'll have to light war supplies on fire, or light a dark cave. Hold right on the D-pad to take out your torch. Attack with it - or throw it with L2 then R2 - to light things on fire.
  • Don't forget that you can loot War Supplies before lighting them on fire to gain lots of resources like wood and ore at once.

Anigmata Ostrata - Upon Typhon's Crown Screen Shot 10-4-18, 1.51 PM.png

  • To upgrade your ship, you'll need Ancient Tablets, a pretty rare commodity. Make sure to stop by underwater Ruins to find these!
  • Tombs are occasionally inhabited by intimidating alpha animals, but they're still definitely worth the trouble. Completing the Location Objectives at a Tomb will unlock an extra Ability Point !
  • You'll regret not picking up all that wood later when you have an awesome Legendary Bow you've out-leveled and no wood to make it better. Tsk. Make sure to pick everything up as you explore.
  • You can pick up wood and iron ore from your horse as you ride around. Especially when riding through dense terrain, tap the interact button repeatedly to snatch resources even before you spot them.
  • Speaking of wood, you can salvage quite of a bit of it and other upgrade materials by looting war supplies inside forts and picking up salvage while sailing. Cleave into a boat to get even more materials from it.
  • Some of the most profitable loot containers in Odyssey are weapon stands. You'll find lots of them in forts and enemy encampments. Each one gives you a weapon, and at higher levels, you can sell those weapons for thousands of drachmae – even the common ones.
  • You can find new skins for your horse, Phobos, at various vendors around the Greek world. There's even a Unicorn skin out there you can buy with drachmae.

Messageboardtips.jpg

  • Orichalcum can also be found as glowing blue ore in out-of-the-way spots in the world, like on top of mountain peaks, along lonely beaches or small tiny islands. See our Interactive Map for known Orichalcum locations!
  • Prioritize upgrading your Spear of Leonidas as soon as you have the necessary materials. Each time you upgrade the spear it provides more adrenaline bars and opens up higher levels in your ability trees among other perks. Upgrading your spear will make your life much easier.
  • When you call your horse, you simply need to run in the same direction as it approaches you from behind and you will automatically mount it.

HopOnHorseTips.jpg

  • Your horse can jump off of some pretty large cliffs and absorb fall damage. If you take the horse off too tall of a cliff, it will crumple, but can be respawned after a bit.
  • Those little numbers on every island and land mass on the map screen show the range of enemy levels in that region. Once you outlevel a region, you may find that the numbers will slowly grow to trail your own level - which means you'll always find a challenge when returning to places you've already explored.
  • When infiltrating forts and other guarded locations, look around them with Ikaros first to identify every enemy there. Then, you will be able to see them clearly-even through walls.

Secretentrance.jpg

  • Combat relies on three things: Gear, Abilities , and your own personal skill. These Combat tips focus on how to excel in the middle of a fight - but the next two sections, Armor and Weapons Tips and Abilities Tips , that help with builds behind the scenes.
  • If you're on fire, stop what you're doing and hold Square(X) to do a long roll to put it out.
  • Every weapon has different attack patterns and reach. Test them out to see which is more your style.
  • Poison and Fire build up with each strike, so it makes sense that fast hitting weapons like daggers are the best weapons to apply the effect.
  • When you've successfully parried an attack, follow it up with a Heavy Attack to knock the enemy back for good crowd control, or with a Light Attack to start a single-target combo if you're not afraid of being overwhelmed my multiple enemies.
  • If all else fails, lure your opponent up a high cliff or roof and kick them down to their demise. The only downfall of this method is that you'll have to climb down to loot their body. Just remember, the kick won't create knock back against enemies more than two levels above you.

SharkTips2.jpg

  • If you have to engage sharks underwater, remember you can still perform dodge maneuvers to evade their lunging bites, then follow up with attacks. Spears and two-handed weapons have better reach here.
  • The Overpower Attack changes depending on which weapon you're using. If you're fighting a lot of medium to weak enemies, using the Axe's Overpower attack will let you chain devastating overhead smashes and clear them out. If you want to apply burning or intoxication status affects to a strong target, the Sword or Daggers Overpower attack is a flurry of hits, and each one counts toward building up the status effect. Experiment to find the right weapon to use when you pop your Overpower.
  • Use the Spartan Kick, or a Paralyzing Arrow, to knock out a target instead of killing it. You can then recruit them to join your ship as a lieutenant by pressing L3 over their body.

CheckMercenaryTips.jpg

  • If you shoot an arrow through a brazier or any other source of fire, the arrow will catch flame en route to the target and act like a fire arrow when it hits. Pay attention to those angles!
  • You can light almost any flammable surface on fire (tents, wood platforms, oil slicks, etc.) to burn for a short time and draw the attention of enemies.
  • Light attacks with Heavy Weapons like Axes or Maces will break the guards of shielded opponents, opening them up to attack on the next hit. You can swing with a light attack at a shielded enemy to start your chain and follow up with any combination of strikes to guarantee the rest of them will find their mark.
  • The Sparta Kick is a great way to knock enemies off ledges, but it's not the only way. Using the the Shield Breaker ability will actually push enemies backward.
  • The same goes for most Overpower attacks, and Heavy Attacks with Heavy Weapons will usually end an attack chain with a swing that knocks enemies backward or in the air, knocking them off ledges if their backs are to the wall.
  • Fire works both ways! Standing too close to enemies you light on fire for too long will ignite you as well.
  • Mercenaries sometimes come with pets ranging from wolves to lions. Use your bow to kill these with headshots from a distance before you start the fight. Pets tend to run around and annoyingly strike you from odd angles that are hard to predict as you're focusing on the mercenary.
  • There are two types of shields: normal small shields that are round, and larger tower shields that are angular in shape. The tower shields can't be disarmed as easily as the round ones and will require you to upgrade your Shield Break to level 2 to break them.
  • You can chain Overpower Attacks with your heavy blunt and bladed weapons . While in the middle of an OP attack, aim at another combatant and press Heavy Attack to chain it up to 3 times.
  • Many NPCs sleep at night, especially in enemy camps, which means meditating until night before and infiltration can be helpful.
  • If you're having trouble assassinating targets in one shot - especially leaders - look into skills that allow you to use Adrenaline to increase damage output, and build your Adrenaline up by picking off grunts before focusing extra damage on the tougher enemies.
  • Don't get too complacent when clearing out camps using stealth. Many guards will automatically pick up the slack and take over patrol routes or guard posts if their friends go missing - and they may stumble across the bodies you leave behind.
  • If you plan on leveling up to make it easier to take down an enemy (that really tough pig, for example), you should know that all enemies will auto-level to two levels below your current level. You can make them easier, but not too easy.

Armor and Weapons Tips

  • Gear is incredibly important and can mean the difference between landing that sweet one-shot assassination, or getting one-shot yourself when in battle. Pay attention!
  • For some reason, Hunter damage does exceptional damage against animals. Wait, no, that definitely makes sense.
  • All gear is randomly generated except Legendary (gold) Weapons and Armor . Legendary Weapons will unlock special Engravings , so work on collecting them.
  • If you have a piece of Epic or Legendary gear with specifically great Engravings and buffs, remember you can always upgrade it to match your level.
  • Once you find a weapon or armor with a Legendary Engraving, or complete a Legendary Set, that Legendary Engraving will also become available for any other applicable piece of weapon or armor !
  • Obsidian Glass is needed to upgrade your equipment. Though not as rare as Ancient Tablets, it's still pretty uncommon. The best way to find Obsidian Glass is by going through the cycle of bringing a nation to its knees. 1. Pillage Nation Chests - often in forts. 2. Assassinate nation Leaders . 3. Win Conquest Battles .
  • Stacking the same buff on multiple pieces of equipment is a surefire way to build of some awesome damage. For example, combine the Flaming Attacks Ability at Level 3 with Engravings that increase Fire Damage, Elemental Buildup, and Burning Duration. Your fiery weapon attacks will EAT through enemies, passively, if you invest in it.
  • The same goes for a variety of buffs. Invest in different Engravings , and you may find you can now one-shot someone with a Predator Shot, or deal enough Warrior damage to make basic attacks more than enough to cleave through enemies.
  • Once you've lowered Nation Power enough to trigger a Conquest Battle, accept it immediately. If enough time passes, either by leaving the area on foot, or by fast traveling, Nation Power will increase again and you'll be forced to complete more tasks to reduce it again.
  • The most damaging arrows in the game are called Death Arrows , and while you can unlock all the rest of the special arrows through the Hunter ability tree, the Death Arrows are rewarded for completing the Hind quest as part of the Daughter's of Artemis quest chain.
  • You can dismantle any weapon by holding the ROLL button on the equipment menu screen for parts.
  • Be careful about dismantling or selling off your gear. You'll need both drachmae and supplies to upgrade your weapons and armor . If you need leather, dismantle your gear. If you need metal and wood, dismantle your weapons .
  • The better the rarity of the item, the more supplies and drachmae you get for dismantling and selling. Rare and better gear also gives you obsidian and precious gems, both of which are needed for upgrading and engraving.
  • Be wary of Legendary engravings that change the type of damage to an element. It's super cool to make all your attacks do fire damage, but that doesn't actually light the enemy on fire - it just does fire damage. You need an Ability or a specific Legendary weapon to light things on fire.

Abilities Tips

  • Abilities are so, so important, as they augment your play style the most. Forget trying to take a hoard head on if you haven't invested in your passive Warrior Abilities , for example. Check out the Abilities page for full details, and the tips below to get started.
  • Yeah, we're mentioning it again. Get the Sparta Kick. Not only can it make quick work of enemies when strategically used, but it's also one of the only methods of attack that deals non-lethal damage. You need this to Recruit Lieutenants .
  • Make sure to invest in the passive abilities that enhance your damage output and armor . A 40% buff is huge!
  • Because of how Armor perks and Engravings work, it's generally better to focus on one type of damage to get the job done. This way, you can one-shot with an arrow as a Hunter, or perform an assassination with ease as an Assassin, or survive easily in melee combat as a Warrior.
  • With that said, it's always a good idea to get the Tier 2 Warrior Ability, Second Wind. It's a simple healing ability that will save you with some needed HP when you most need it.
  • As you level up and progress, you will eventually unlock the ability to upgrade Abilities to Level 2, and then to Level 3. Consider resetting to upgrade your most used Abilities .
  • You can reset or "respec" all of your abilities any time, but it will cost you. If you have the drachmae for it, you can reset Abilities indefinitely. About to go into a Conquest Battle? Respec to a Warrior build. Need to take out a target from afar? Respec to do maximum damage with a Hunter's Predator Shot. Keep in mind these few hundred drachmae will stack up, so only do it when you really need it (Like fighting in a conquest battle or the arena.)

Arena Intro - Full Fight Win First Fighter Screen Shot 10-4-18, 3.13 PM.png

  • Vanish + Rush Assassination = Instant Assassination  Use Vanish to blind your enemies and quickly duck into a bush. From there, you can easily use Rush Assassination to assassinate them! Upgrade the ability to chain it to up to three additional enemies.
  • Flaming Attacks (Burning) and Venomous Attacks (Intoxication) don't play well together. The newest infliction will override the old one. No, we also don't understand why someone on fire can't also be intoxicated.

How to Grind XP

  • Here are a few tips on how to earn XP efficiently, but for a full breakdown, go to How to Level Up Fast .

StealthStreakXP.jpg

  • Side Quests are convenient because they scale with your level, but some grant more XP than others. Check how much by looking at the rewards for them in your menu - the XP is graded just like Weapons and Armor are.
  • Always check the Message Boards before doing just about anything. Many bounties you can accept there will task you to clear out areas or kill Spartans or Athens, leaders, or even take over a region - and can earn you much more experience and gold than if you did it normally.

Ship Combat Tips

  • Hitting Circle (PS4) or B (Xbox One) is basically a handbrake. If you're turning when you hit the brakes you can drift, which is an excellent tactic to avoid a ramming ship to set up a close-range javelin or arrow volley or power sliding into a port to dock.
  • If you're trying to get out of a naval battle you can hit the afterburners by holding X (PS4) or A (Xbox One) to push your rowers into overdrive. Then right before you drain the rower bar, press Square (PS4) or X (Xbox One) to drop sails and maintain a constant speed while the rowers recharge, then repeat as needed. By alternating between these you can outpace almost any ship.
  • Make one of your first upgrades on your ship the Fire brazier. It allows you to shoot flaming arrows and javelins as you build adrenaline in combat.
  • If you have Lieutenants that increase Fire Damage and Buildup, equip them. You're fire attacks - other than a perfectly aimed ram attack - are your most powerful weapons .
  • Enemy ships on fire can't move, or attack, so lighting a ship on fire can be devastating. But each volley of fire arrows or fire javelins only adds so much elemental buildup, which degrades over time, so try to save up your fire shots and unload them all at once to avoid losing the the fire buildup status.
  • You can find unique skins for your ship by taking down Alpha boats on the open ocean. Look for the gold trim around their level icons, and when you've disabled them, board the ship, kill the captain, and loot the chests for a chance to get a new ship skin. Not all ships will reward a skin, but they're definitely out there.
  • Don't worry about perfectly aiming every volley of arrows and javelins. Attack fast and furiously and you'll get the enemy ship's health down in no time.
  • Aim to make the other ship the top line of your Capital T - as it, ram into it perpendicular to it for maximum damage.
  • In order to get an ideal attack off, you have to be aware of your positioning. Try to predict where your opponent will go so you can time a perfect cleave attack.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Ship Guide – How to Captain the Adrestia

Image of Larryn Bell

Seafaring is one of the primary gameplay elements in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Early in the game you will acquire a ship called the Adrestia, which you will use to sail throughout the Greek isles. Players will need to know how to command their ship and engage in naval combat in order to survive the pirate-infested waters. In this guide, we’ll explain what you need to know to properly captain the Adrestia and command her crew in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Players are granted access to their very own ship shortly after meeting Barnabas. There’s a brief tutorial to help you get used to commanding the ship and its crew, but we’ll go over the basics in case you need a refresher on how seafaring works in the game.

Sailing and Docking

There are several aspects to controlling and sailing the Adrestia in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Start by heading to the top deck to take control of the ship. Once you begin sailing, you can choose to either have the rowers maintain a steady pace so that you can thoroughly explore the open waters, or you can activate Travel Speed to boost your rate of travel and reach your destination quickly.

There is a dedicated message board near the center of the Adrestia that lists various ship-related bounties and missions that can be completed while out at sea. These objectives usually lead to a hefty reward, so remember to check your ship’s message board regularly to accept bounties and embark on new missions with your crew. You can also loot treasure straight from the water while on your ship, so keep an eye out for loot caches while on your seafaring adventure.

The Adrestia can be docked at any major harbor or port. Get close to the dock and press the prompt to have your ship dock automatically. The ship can also be called to any dock that it isn’t already docked at by interacting with the glowing ship symbol found at major ports.

Your ship also acts as a sort of mobile fast travel point, so if you’d rather warp straight to your ship from land while it’s out on the water, you can do so by opening the map and selecting your ship for fast travel.

Hiring Lieutenants

While exploring the islands, you can acquire new ship lieutenants by  recruiting hostile NPCs . This involves knocking out enemy soldiers and choosing the Recruit prompt to invite them to join your crew. Lieutenants can be hired from your list of recruits in the Ship tab of the main menu. Additional lieutenant slots can be unlocked by upgrading the ship’s hull.

Naval Combat

There are several types of vessels you’ll encounter while sailing across the Greek isles in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Merchant vessels don’t pose a threat, so attacking them will cause your bounty meter to go up. Keep this in mind if you have a mercenary after you, as this can lure them to your location, even out on the open waters.

Pirate ships, on the other hand, are always hostile and will attack you as soon as they spot you. Since naval combat is inevitable, you’ll need to know your ship’s offensive and defensive capabilities before setting sail.

Ramming & Attacking

The Adrestia has two primary offensive maneuvers available when engaged in combat with an enemy ship. You can either launch a long-range attack on an enemy ship using javelins or archers, or you can ram into the side of the enemy ship to deal a massive blow to their hull.

Ramming involves aligning your ship perpendicular to the side of the opposing ship’s hull and increasing your rowing speed to ram them with full force. This requires proper positioning and acceleration, so go for this tactic only if the ship distances and angles are in your favor.

Firing projectiles is the more reliable of the two tactics. The left controller trigger allows you to aim at your target, while the right controller trigger will launch projectiles at the opposing ship. Fire javelins and arrows can be launched using the right shoulder button as well.

Brace for Impact

There are a couple ways to mitigate the damage done to your ship while engaged in naval combat in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. One method is to brace for impact, which is done by holding the left shoulder button on a controller or the Q key on PC. This causes the crew to hunker down and raise their shields to protect themselves from an incoming enemy barrage. Keep an eye on the enemy and brace as soon as you see them preparing to launch projectiles your way.

If the enemy ship is trying to ram you instead, you’ll need to maneuver your ship to dodge the incoming blow. Dodging can be done by braking hard and turning the ship to quickly pivot out of harms way. Though it may take some practice, knowing how to dodge incoming ramming attacks will ultimately help you turn the tables on your enemies at sea.

Boarding and Cleaving

Once you have depleted the health of an enemy ship, an anchor icon will appear above it, signaling that it can be boarded. You can board an enemy ship by pulling up beside the vessel and hold down the boarding prompt.

When you jump aboard an enemy ship with your fellow lieutenants, be prepared to fight off any remaining enemy crewmembers on your way to snag the ship’s treasure chest. We recommend Sparta-kicking enemies off the edge and into the water, as this is a quick and easy way to rid the ship of hostiles without taking much damage. Successful boarding will restore part of your ship’s health.

Alternatively, you can also choose to cleave the enemy ship, which basically involves ramming it so hard that it splits in half. You’ll need to quickly ram into the side of the vessel to cleave and sink the enemy ship. This will also restore some of your ship’s health.

Ship Upgrades & Cosmetics

In the Ship tab within the main menu, you can view the Adrestia’s different upgradable features. Ship upgrades are broken down into three categories:

  • Arsenal – Improves the reload speed and attack rate of your archers and javelin men.
  • Weapon Damage – Increases the damage output of your weapons and ship.
  • Ship & Crew Endurance – Improves the overall health of your ship and crew.

Each ship upgrade costs a certain amount of money and resources, which are listed at the bottom of each upgrade.  Ship upgrades also require you to collect Ancient Tablets, which are found in ruins throughout the islands or sold from certain blacksmiths. Ship upgrades are a bit pricey, so you may have to play through the game a bit before you’re able to afford any upgrades for your ship.

Those are the basics of how to captain the Adrestia ship and engage in naval combat in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. For more gameplay tips and tutorials, head over to our Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Guide .

How to fast travel in Assassin's Creed Odyssey

If you don't want to walk or ride a horse, here's how to fast travel in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

Bill Lavoy

About a year ago I made the decision to stop fast traveling in open-world games. I found that if I took the time to walk, I became more immersed in the world and got more out of the experience. However, after walking across the map for the hundredth time, everybody breaks and decides to take a shortcut. While the world of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is full of things to discover, I wouldn’t blame you for wanting to skip the trip and arrive at your destination immediately. Here’s how to fast travel in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

How to Fast Travel in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

ac odyssey fast travel with ship

Fast travel requires that you first unlock synchronization points around the map. These are almost always high up and require you to do some climbing. They are also marked on the map as eagles, allowing you to set a way point and travel directly to them. As you find these synchronization points, climb and unlock them, then you can use that point at any time in the future to fast travel. If the eagle icon on the map is white, the fast travel point hasn’t been unlocked. Once you’ve completed the synchronization, however, the icon will be gold and fast travel will be available.

ac odyssey fast travel with ship

Players can also fast travel to their ship, which will become available a few hours into the game and after some main story progression. Your ship will be an important part of the game and something of a base once you start exploring the world, making this fast travel point the most valuable by a mile. Just be sure to dock your ship properly when not using it in order to activate it as a fast travel point.

Now that you know how to fast travel, be sure to browse and bookmark our Assassin’s Creed Odyssey walkthrough and guide . You’ll find tips and tutorials to help you become the deadliest assassin the world has ever seen.

How to Unlock Fast Travelling in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

by enricofairme · Published October 2, 2018 3:45 PM · Updated October 10, 2018 5:18 PM

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s  sprawling world which can often feel overwhelming to navigate. At times you may feel like things are far away, and fast travel doesn’t seem available. While this is true for some things, there is a way to fast travel to locations after you’ve visited them for the first time. To help you, I’m going to show you how to unlock fast travelling in  Assassin’s Creed  Odyssey .

Available Fast Travel Point – The Adrestia (Your Ship)

Once you have The Adrestia unlocked, you can use it as a mobile fast travel point.

One point you can always fast travel to is your ship The Adrestia. This ship is unlocked after you complete the story mission The Big Break. Once you have The Adrestia unlocked, you are able to fast travel back to it by hovering over the golden ship icon on the map. Having the ability to always fast travel back to The Adrestia is nice as it makes stopping to explore something easier then if you had to make your way back to the ship every time.

Unlocking Fast Travel Points Through Synchronization

While having a mobile Fast Travel point in The Adrestia is nice, sometimes you need to fast travel to a city (like to see Oikos for example). However, you may have noticed when you hover over a city/area of interest, the ability to fast travel to it is greyed out. To unlock fast travel to these points you need to complete what are called Synchronization Locations. These points appear on your map as grey birds. Once at a Synchronize Location you are able to send up Ikaro to scout the area. Once this is done, you will unlock this point as a Fast Travel point. You will know you’ve unlocked the Fast Travel point as the grey bird will turn green on your map.

Note: Completing Synchronize Locations is a good way to level up different attributes of Ikaro.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey: The Fastest Way You Can Reach Max Level & When Your Level Caps

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a long time with plenty of content. While reaching the max level can be a grind, there are ways to level up faster.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is the eleventh installment in the franchise. The game takes players more than two thousand years back in time. While the events of the Peloponnesian War unfold, gamers will play one of two mercenaries , with the option to side with Athens or Sparta. Odyssey is a completely new setting, with much more of an emphasis on role-playing than the previous Assassin's Creed titles.

However, AC Odyssey does take quite a while to complete. Mercenaries will need to log dozens of hours to complete the entire game. Luckily, there are a few ways to expedite the process of reaching the level 99 cap.

Updated on May 31, 2023, by Stephen LaGioia: Ubisoft's epic journey through antiquity is years old but has scarcely aged — with its gorgeous Greek vistas and dense, compelling gameplay. While the upcoming Mirage and Codename Red, among others, are sure to be epic, Odyssey should be able to comparatively hold its own on a technical level. AC Odyssey can seem a tad overwhelming for newcomers, and even veteran Assassins who may be revisiting after some time. With many techniques to level up quickly and effectively — as well as new details regarding exploits/glitches coming to light — we thought we'd refresh this handy guide.

Pile Up Good Contracts

Contracts are a major part of AC Odyssey , and the game is absolutely full of them. Each region will have a slew of these side quests, many of which can be beaten fairly simply. Many find some inadvertently completed, especially when several are obtained at once.

Thus, it's a good idea to load up on as many of these contracts as possible, as they'll always be there — aside from timed Contracts. Additionally, focus on the ' Legendary ' Contracts, which are highlighted on the menu screen in gold. Though even the quests tagged purple and blue grant higher-than-average XP.

Sail The Seas And Utilize Ship-Based Sidequests

Sailing and ship battles are a particularly fun aspect of Odyssey , though they are also one of the more effective ways to rake in XP, both actively and passively. Players will be able to cover much ground on their ship, which will yield quick, easy XP for location discoveries.

Though it will also enable frequent battles with other ships and ample plunder. Seafarers can typically take out Bounty Hunters more efficiently here too. Be sure to gather many ship-based Contracts and Bounties while sailing for maximum effect.

Complete All Location Objectives In An Area

Odyssey encourages players to leave no stone unturned as it were, with segmented regions full of goodies and tasks . One good way to make quick use of an area and get ample XP is to complete the usually small list of location objectives. These include treasures to loot, high-level troops to target, and war supplies to burn.

Notching each of these tasks will not only yield loot but also loads of XP. Emphasizing stealth and using Ikaros to scan the area makes this task even simpler, as players can quickly pinpoint key locations.

Story Creator Mode Quest Exploits

Gamers need to make sure they activate the Story Creator mode in the in-game settings. The mode will give players a handful of additional quests to complete. Several of the Story Creator mode quests have very high experience rewards for just a few minutes of gameplay.

The following sections will touch on a few great Creator quests and where to find them. Though the list will also feature various other options for gamers that do not want to exploit the Story Creator quests.

Ubisoft has cracked down on some of the more exploitative, speedy XP-farming Story Creator quests, though as of this writing, the following exploits still seem to be up and running.

Battle In The Cursed Valley Of Pali

Players can find the quest titled "Battle" on the westernmost land in the gorgeous Kephallonia Islands . To get the quest to appear in-game, gamers will need to link their Ubisoft Club account to their in-game account. The quest marker will appear as a blue exclamation point on the map to the south of the Cursed Valley of Pali.

Players will receive a total of 35,000 experience points for completing the quest, which takes just a few minutes. The quest is a simple "kill all enemies" objective that will not require very much preparation or strategy. Assassins can hop in, kill a few bad guys, and reap the rewards.

Rulodoll In Mount Anos

The next quest assassins can complete is essentially just an experience farming quest. Just like the previous entry, players can find this Story Creator quest in the AC Odyssey Hub. Assassins should initiate the quest and speak with the NPC on Mount Anos in Markos's Vineyard. Then, they should choose the first option in the dialogue, and that is the entire quest.

RELATED: Assassin's Creed Odyssey: Most Beautiful Locations, Ranked

Without doing anything but traveling to the location, players can farm the quest for experience. The quest will award assassins around 2,000 XP every time it is completed. It is mind-numbing to complete over and over, but probably the easiest quest available in Assassin's Creed Odyssey . With an XP boost, the quest will level up characters quickly.

Athenians Malaka

One of the most recently verified (2023) Story Creator quests for quick XP, this Athenian-based romp has players scale a lengthy wall in the southern part of Attika, slaying various soldiers along the way. This is a long stretch of wall, and each soldier will be facing the outside, allowing for many quick, easy assassinations.

Each slain soldier will grant a significant portion of XP, as each death counts as a separate 'completed' quest. This one has some repetition and is quite literally straightforward, but it's a speedy way to collect plenty of XP in bunches.

Conquest Battles

Assassins that prefer playing the base game instead of completing created quests need to keep an eye out for conquest battles. Each of the battles will give out around 50,000 XP as a reward. The battles are quick and not very challenging.

There is a specific location in the center of Boeotia that is very close to the Fort of Platia. Players can complete all of the objectives in the Fort, which will reward players with tens of thousands of XP. After raiding the fort, it is time to complete the conquest and travel back to the fort to loot it again.

The Arena is always an effective way to gain a lot of XP in a fairly short period of time. Gamers that have not unlocked the arena yet have not yet progressed far enough through the story. The Arena is located all the way in the southeast of the map, in Pephka. Fights in the arena take a lot less time than many of the other options. Assassins will receive 35,000 XP if they win the fight, which is amazing for the quick objective.

RELATED: Assassin's Creed Odyssey: Secret Side Quests Everyone Missed

Challengers will be level 50, so this option is better suited for gamers at higher levels. Like the other options, fighting in the Arena will get stale after a while, but it is a viable option for leveling up. There is a questline tied to the Arena , so players will need to speak with the Mercenary and complete all of the objectives before they will be able to re-play it.

Complete Bounties

Gamers can also look at the message boards for bounties. There is a message board in every region, and there should be at least one bounty to complete in each.

Bounties are still one of the most efficient ways to gain experience in Odyssey . Assassins that have multiple bounties in one location should activate an XP boost and complete them all at once. Players can gather a large collection of them and complete a number of them in fairly short order.

Focusing On Main Quests

Replaying some of the quests in the main storyline is a good way to get XP without any downtime. Assassins will earn XP throughout the entire mission and the quests can break up the monotony of the other options.

RELATED: Why Desmond Miles May Play a Huge Role in Assassin's Creed Infinity

It might not be exciting to revisit previously completed story beats, but they do serve as dependable sources of XP.

PC XP Glitch

For players on PC, there is an XP glitch that can be used to reach the level cap wildly fast . Unfortunately, the glitch will only work on PC versions 1.0-1.21. New players should probably not use this method, as it will ruin the gaming experience. Assassin's Creed Odyssey 's immersive story will not feel as exciting if players are beating up on every enemy in the game.

  • Bind the secondary weapon and crouch to the same key
  • When an enemy is down, press the recruit button over and over
  • Make sure to not execute the recruit and the character will get XP indefinitely for the motion

Because the menu for keybinds is not available on console, only PC gamers can exploit the mechanic.

Infinite Double XP

People are now able to get a free two-hour XP boost at the Club Store in-game. Instead of leaving the XP boost active, gamers can pause it while playing the game. If they wait to activate it right before a quest is turned in , players can get the extra XP without running down the timer for more than a few seconds. Repeat this process during the story and it will easily get the character to level 30. Also, gamers should remember to activate the XP boost before completing one of the many general quests in the game.

Of course, people can always just purchase the infinite XP boost from the store. It is one of the most worthwhile boosts to purchase because it stays active for multiple characters. Whether players decide to cheat the system or just buy the indefinite XP boost, they will reach the max level in no time.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

How To Level Up Fast In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Image of David Jagneaux

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is an absolutely massive game. It’s the kind of game that you’ll likely spend weeks (or months) plowing through to uncover all of its secrets, legendary gear, and powerful abilities.

Even if you focus specifically on the main story you can easily spend upwards of 30 or more hours in this iteration of Ancient Greece and you can expect to double that if you venture off the beaten path more than a few times. And despite is length, its infectious stories and downright addictive gameplay make it a journey worth obsessing over.

But everyone that plays open world RPGs like Assassins Creed Odyssey knows that getting through it all is more about efficiency than brute force. There’s nothing more infuriating than that feeling that what you want to do is too far above your level so you’ve got to go grind until you’re strong enough. Since the game scales with you in level, hitting those sort of brick walls can and will happen if you’re not smart.

Luckily for you we’ve put together this quick and dirty guide on how to level up fast — and efficiently — in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey to become the most powerful mercenary this side of Mount Olympus.

Cassandra sits on a white horse overlooking a bay in Greece

Gather Quests In Bunches

This is a no-brainer for anyone that’s played an open world RPG before, but it’s worth repeating: you should gather quests in bunches . Meaning, when you discover a new town, scour the streets and surrounding area for quest bubbles , accept them all, and then knock them out in bunches. Hit the closest ones first and just follow the icons on your map like breadcrumbs.

A great way to pile up lots of quests quickly is to go to the message board in town (a black logo with white lines on your compass) and grab all of the bounties and side quests you can.

Many of these can be completed en route to larger quests or even sometimes as part of other quests naturally, such as collecting resources or killing a certain number of enemies.

Explore The Map and Unlock Fast Travel Points

One other likely known tidbit is to utilize fast travel as much as you can to cut down on travel time. Unlike in most other Assassin’s Creed games, you don’t need to climb to the top of a tower to synchronize an area .

Instead, the synchronization points are scattered about on a variety of landmarks such as Zeus , iconic trees , buildings , and even mountains themselves. Once you find one of these points, you’ll unlock fast travel for the future.

In addition to these points, don’t forget to hold down on the D-pad to call for your mount . You can keep running while you call your mount and you’ll automatically swing yourself up onto it without ever breaking stride. You can even tell the horse to automatically follow roads and go directly to your quest marker. That’s super helpful to travel efficiently.

Kassandra sneaks up behind and enemy in a cave

Clear Tombs, Caves, and Crypts

While you’re out exploring you’ll come across a ton of optional side content like caves , crypts , and tombs . If you go inside and explore these areas, finding all of the loot, and killing the enemies you can get a nice chunk of XP. But more importantly, some of them will even award you a free skill point if you find the Steles inside .

One crucial ability that you need to unlock as soon as possible is the Revelation ability . It’s the bottom right ability in the Assassin tree and when used emits a radar-like pulse around you that displays minerals, treasure, enemies , and much more.

It’s probably the single most useful ability in the game and helps make sure you don’t miss a thing.

Prioritize Higher XP Reward Quests

Not all quests are created equally in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey . If you check your quest tab of the main menu, you’ll see that the “XP” reward is color-coded. Gold-plated quests offer the most XP , followed by purple and then blue .

If you want to be as efficient as possible as you level, focus on them in that order . This menu will also show you the types of other rewards on the table such as how much money and which gear tier to expect.

A female warrior wearing gold armor and an axe stands in front of a fortress

Complete All Objectives at Forts and Bases

When you’re first approaching a base, you’ll probably notice that there are a ton of enemies wandering around, patrolling. It can be overwhelming at first.

But if you’re comfortable mixing your stealth, ranged, and melee abilities together, assaulting keeps and clearing them out can actually be some of the best content in the whole game. You’re free to approach them however you want. Sometimes getting your swords out and just taking on entire groups of enemies is a blast.

But actually killing enemies isn’t the best way to get XP , unfortunately. Instead, before entering a base, use ikaros to fly in and do some recon first . This way you can identify enemies , leaders , treasure chests , and key objectives .

When you’re near the base, hold down L3 and this will show your core objectives . If you complete all of those, then you get an enormous XP bonus that makes it all worthwhile.

Fight at the Arena

Around Level 20 you can head over to the Arena for a rough and tumble good time. When you kill your first mercenary you’ll automatically start the They Just Want Cruelty side quest that directs you to the Arena , found in southeastern part of the map in Pephka .

There are five champions at the Arena that you can fight over and over. The first champion is Level 22 and gives a beefy 16,000 XP bonus once defeated, or 8,000 XP bonus each time after that.

You’ll probably want to only challenge champions within two levels of your own level or else they’ll just be too powerful. We’d also advise that you focus on Warrior damage with your gear since Assassin and Ranged aren’t viable inside the Arena.

A female warrior stands over a soldier as she stabs him in the head

Conquest Battles

After you get to around Chapter 3, you’ll unlock Conquest Battles. These are large-scale skirmishes on the map that pit two armies against one another, such as Athens vs. Sparta. In most cases you’re actually free to pick sides and you can gain advantages by taking out enemy camps and forts before waging battle.

The fights themselves don’t yield a ton of XP, but if you’re quick about it, the big bonus at the end is certainly worth it.

Ubisoft Club Two Hour Boost

If you’re new to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey , you can actually register as a member of the Ubisoft Club for a special XP boost  that will help you level up fast.

All you need to do is spend 10 U coins (which you likely have saved up just from playing other Ubisoft games) and you’ll get a 25% XP boost for two hours .

Make sure you’ve got a lot of quests to do or turn in during that time to get the most out of it.

Worth noting as well, is that in addition to this XP boost, being a member of the Ubisoft Club has other perks for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey too. For example, you can get exclusive ship skins for your sails and even recruit lieutenants themed after characters from other games.

Buy The Permanent XP Boost With Real Money

Finally, since this is the world we live in now, the best way to quickly level up in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is, frankly, to crack open your wallet and pay with actual cold hard cash. That’s right — for 1,000 Helix Credits (or about $10) you can buy a permanent 50% increase to all of your XP gains. Everything. That’s borderline insanity.

Unless you intend on seeing just about everything this game has to offer, it’s actually a pretty good value for something like this. The time saved alone is pretty significant. But… you’re paying cash to level up faster in a $60 game you just got. Feels a bit slimy.

That’s all you need to know to level up fast in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey . Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more tips and tricks on this new entry to the Ubisoft series, and be sure to read our review here .
