Travel Beauty Essentials: The 35 Best Travel Beauty Products
It’s been over three years since I quit my job, relinquished my apartment, put all of my worldly belongings in a storage unit, and hit the road. That’s three years since I’ve lived near a Target or had a shipping address to order anything on Amazon. Three years since I’ve had my favorite health and beauty products either a short drive or a 2-day delivery away.
This might not seem like a big deal to some, but it can be incredibly challenging to find health and beauty products that you love and trust while traveling. Seemingly simple things like tampons are nearly impossible to find in some countries around the world. Many makeup products may have familiar packaging but are actually knock-offs. And often even when you do find brands you love, they cost three times what you’d pay for them in the USA (damn you import taxes!).
So stock up on any essential travel beauty products prior to boarding that plane and pick up a few new ones that may come in handy during your holiday abroad. I’ve outlined all of my favorite travel beauty products below to help you prepare for your upcoming trip!

The Best Travel Beauty Products
Travel makeup and facial care products, 1. travel makeup kit.
It’s best to keep your makeup routine short and simple while traveling. Just a bit of powder, some mascara, and lipgloss and you’re good to go! Plus, if you’re headed to tropical climates you’ll sweat it all off in an hour anyway. This darling little makeup kit by Clinique is everything you need for your travel makeup routine, all in a perfectly portable package.
See it on Amazon
2. Tinted Moisturizer
Don’t have time or energy for a full face of makeup while on the road? Keep a tinted moisturizer with SPF in your bag to even out your complexion and give you a fresh-faced glow!
3. Face Moisturizer with SPF
A high-quality face moisturizer with SPF is one of the most essential travel beauty products you can pack. You’ll probably spend a good amount of time outdoors during your trip and those sun rays can do damage to your skin, even when the sky is cloudy.
Protect your pretty face with a daily moisturizer with 30 SPF or higher. Don’t forget to slather it on your neck and décolletage!
4. Sun Spot Vitamin C Serum
All of the sun exposure that I’ve gotten through my travels have left a few noticeable sun spots on my face. And they make it so I feel like I need to wear makeup to cover them up daily. But who wants to get done up every day while traveling? Minimize those sunspots by applying a vitamin C serum to your entire face every morning and night.
5. Oil Absorbing Tissues
Hopefully, you’ll be escaping the crummy weather back home to vacation somewhere sunny and tropical. But those warm temperatures generally lead to a whole lot of sweat. Pick up some oil-absorbing tissues before you leave so you’re not shiny in all of your vacation photos.
6. Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes
There are times during your travels when you’ll want to give your face a good mid-day scrub (on an airplane), or when washing your face with soap and water is challenging (while camping for instance). If you have a pack of cleansing towelettes in your bag you won’t have to worry about getting to a bathroom to freshen up.
Travel Skincare Products
7. body lotion with spf.
Your face isn’t the only part of your body that needs protection from the sun. Don’t forget about your arms, legs, and back throughout the day. Invest in a daily body lotion with SPF – it’s one travel beauty product that I never leave home without.
8. Reef-Safe Sunscreen
Not all sunscreen is created equal. If you’re planning on doing any snorkeling on your tropical holiday, then make sure you bring along a reef-safe sunscreen. The worst chemicals are oxybenzone, octinoxate, and octocrylene so check the label for these major offenders. In general, you’ll want to look for a “mineral sunscreen” which means the active ingredients are Zinc and Titanium Dioxide.
This Botanical Sunscreen Mineral Lotion by Australian Gold checks all of the boxes for being reef-safe. Plus, it’s waterproof for up to 80 minutes. It’s the perfect sunscreen for your next trip so you can have guilt-free fun in the sun!
9. After Sun Lotion
If despite all of your best efforts, you still manage to burn your skin, you’ll want to have some post-sun lotion in your bag so you’re not in pain for the remainder of your trip. This Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion has soothing aloe and is super hydrating – an essential product for any tropical vacation.
Travel Hair Care Products
10. solid shampoo bar.
If you’re the type of person who likes to fly with just a carry-on, then one of the best travel beauty products you can invest in is a solid shampoo bar. It will reduce the number of liquids you need to pack without forcing you to rely on the shampoo provided by your hotel.
This shampoo bar by Ethique is amazing because the company uses biodegradable ingredients and compostable packaging. That means fewer liquids in your luggage and fewer plastic bottles in the landfill – it’s a total win-win!
Ethique has a great lineup of solid shampoo bars for all hair types so you’re sure to find one that is perfect for your next trip.
11. Solid Conditioner Bar
While you’re saving the planet and eliminating liquids from your carry-on luggage, be sure to replace your hair conditioner too. One bar of Ethique solid conditioner is the equivalent of five bottles of liquid conditioner, so it should last you for your entire trip. This is one travel beauty product that can lighten your suitcase, save you money, and save the planet all at the same time!
Note: You’ll probably want to invest in some type of carrying case for your new shampoo and conditioner bars. We love these FlatPak Soap Bar Cases from Matador !
12. Dry Shampoo
If you don’t have the time or the desire to wash your hair every day while on the go, then invest in this travel-sized dry shampoo by Batiste . It’ll keep those locks from getting too oily so you can spend more time out exploring as opposed to in the bathroom getting ready.
13. Leave-in Conditioner
Travel is especially rough on your hair, your skin, and your stomach. Allow those natural oils to do their job and resist the urge to wash your hair daily. Instead of soaping up, give your hair a spritz with this It’s a 10 Haircare Miracle Leave-in Product – it’ll leave your hair feeling silky smooth.
14. Hair Texturizing Spray
Spending all day at the beach or by the pool? Embrace those salty, beachy waves by making them more pronounced and defined with this texturizing spray by L’ange !
15. Compact Folding Travel Hair Dryer
Depending on where you are going and what kind of accommodations you’ll be staying in, they may or may not offer a hairdryer for your use. And if you’re headed to tropical climates and you need to keep that mane contained, you’ll no doubt need a hairdryer. This travel hair dryer by Conair is lightweight, foldable, and still powerful enough to dry your hair quickly.
We actually wrote a whole article about the best travel hair dryers including this one by Conair as well as four more great hair dryers that you can pick from.
16. 2-in-1 Travel Hair Straightener/Curling Iron
If a hairdryer isn’t enough to tame those unruly locks, you’ll also want to bring along a travel curling iron or hair straightener. Or, better yet, bring both! This dual-voltage 2-in-1 curling iron/flat iron is compact, lightweight, and serves as both a curling iron and a straightener so you don’t have to choose between these two beauty appliances for your next trip.
It also comes with a heat-resistant travel case so you can pack it in your luggage without waiting for it to cool down completely. It’s definitely one of my must-have travel beauty products.
17. Hair Brush with Traveling Case
Keep the bristles of your hairbrush from getting smashed in your suitcase by investing in a detangling brush with a travel case . It’s gentle enough to use on either wet or dry hair and small enough to fit in your pocket!
Don’t Forget: No-Crease Hair Ties
Go a bit longer in between styling your hair by using hair ties that won’t crease . That way you can put your hair in a ponytail without worrying about that awkward indent that hair ties always make.
Travel Feminine Care Products
18. on-the-go razor.
A razor won’t take up a lot of room in your bag so you may not think you need one specifically designed for travel. However, the biggest issue with most razors is that the blade pops off of the handle in your bag. Or the blade cover comes off which causes the blades to dull faster.
This Venus on-the-go travel razor is tiny and even has its own protective case – perfectly designed to throw in your bag for your next big trip!
19. Menstruation Cup
Those of us that are from the US are incredibly lucky to have as many menstrual product options as we do as it can be difficult to find tampons in other countries. On a recent trip to Myanmar , I could only find pads that were the size of diapers. They were uncomfortable and totally unnecessary. Be sure to pick up a Diva Cup prior to departing to avoid a similar period predicament!
20. Biodegradable Wipes
Depending on where you are traveling, the bathroom situation can vary widely. In SE Asia, you’ll probably run into a few squatty potties with a spray hose for clean-up. In many countries, you’ll find a Western-style toilet that is missing a toilet seat. And everywhere you’ll often find that bathrooms lack toilet paper.
These biodegradable wipes are pH-balanced and hypoallergenic making them perfect for even the most sensitive lady parts. Keep them in your purse for when nature calls no matter what toilet awaits you.
See them on Amazon
21. Poo-Pourri
Unless you are a solo female traveler, you’ll likely be sharing a bathroom with someone. And if you are the type of person who likes to keep private things private, then be sure to pick up some Poo-Pourri to mask any bathroom odors. Just a few drops in the toilet is all it takes!
Travel Health Products
22. hand sanitizer.
Keep those germs away during your trip by having travel-sized hand sanitizer readily available. We like this Organic Hand Sanitizer by EO because it uses naturally derived alcohol from non-GMO sugarcane and scented with essential oils. Plus, it is free of parabens, phthalates, triclosan, dyes, and artificial colors.
23. Plant-Based Insect Repellent
Mosquitoes are a nuisance. Not only do they cause you to scratch and inflame your skin, but they also carry harmful diseases like malaria, dengue, and zika. If you’re traveling to a high-risk area, make sure you have insect repellent on-hand to keep those annoying creatures away.
We always try to use a plant-based bug repellent that is DEET-free like this Lemon Eucalyptus Oil Insect Repellent by Murphy’s Naturals .
24. Tiger Balm
And if you do get a few mosquito bites during your travels, you can soothe the itchiness with a dab of Tiger Balm ointment . You’ll see it sold in stores all over Asia because not only does it help with bites, but can also reduce muscle aches and pains. You’ll want to have it in your purse wherever you go!
25. Natural Sleep Aid
All the travel beauty products in the world won’t help if you’re not well-rested. And getting a good night’s sleep while traveling can be surprisingly difficult. Between red-eye flights, time changes, and noisy neighbors in your hotel, there are plenty of things that can throw off your beauty sleep routine while you’re on the road.
This natural sleep aid is full of natural, non-habit-forming herbal ingredients like Melatonin, Passion Flower, Chamomile, and Lemon Balm to help you drift into dreamland. This is one essential product for every world traveler.
26. Band-Aids
Band-aids are not exactly a travel beauty product but are essential nonetheless. When packing for a vacation, most women have some trouble picking shoes that will be comfortable and stylish. And occasionally the stylish option wins if you are short on space. Prepare for a few potential blisters by throwing a pack of Band-aids in your suitcase. They’ll protect your feet during long days out exploring the city.
27. Travel Toothbrush
Be sure to pick up a foldable toothbrush before your trip. It’ll take up less room in your bag and because it folds into its own case, it will remain sanitary. Very convenient and practical!
Don’t Forget: Travel Toothpaste
If you are planning on checking a bag you can carry a full-sized tube of toothpaste, no problem. But if you are only bringing a carry-on, you’ll need to invest in a travel-sized tube . I like to keep one of these in my carry-on even when I do check a bag so I can brush my teeth after napping on the plane.
28. Dental Floss Picks
I’m not generally a fan of dental floss picks since they create so much unnecessary waste, but they are just so convenient to have while traveling. You’ll probably be dining out for every meal and will need a convenient way to get the gunk out of your teeth afterward so be sure to toss a few in your purse before you leave every morning.
29. Imodium
Travel can be incredibly hard on your stomach. Especially if you are traveling to a place that is not known for its sanitation efforts (i.e. India and the Philippines). Keep some Imodium on hand just in case you find yourself suffering.
30. Travel First Aid Kit
You never know what you might get into during your adventuring, so have a travel first aid kit on hand, just in case. Keep in mind that it is actually much easier to purchase pharmaceutical products outside of the US if you have some sort of injury or illness that you haven’t prepared for.
Don’t Forget: Personal Medications
Make sure you schedule an appointment with your doctor prior to departing to ensure you are up-to-date on your vaccinations. Provide them with your travel itinerary so they can inform you of any additional required shots. For instance, you may be required to show proof of your Yellow Fever vaccination for 6 months after leaving certain countries in South America and Africa.
Keeping Your Travel Beauty Products Organized
31. hanging toiletry bag.
Keep all of your travel make-up, skincare, and hair care products organized and easy to access in this hanging toiletry bag . Unlike most hanging toiletry bags, this one can also sit on the countertop in case your hotel room is short on hooks.
32. Reusable Travel Bottles
There’s no real need to purchase your favorite shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion in travel sizes prior to your trip. Just buy these leak-proof, TSA-approved travel bottles and fill them with products you already have. You’ll be able to take a travel-size portion of all your essential beauty products!
While those are the best travel bottles in terms of function, these are the cutest travel bottles we’ve ever laid eyes on…
Other Essential Travel Products
33. compact disposable towels.
These compact disposable towels are perfect to toss in your bag and have ready for anything you may encounter on your travels! Use them for cleaning your face, as bathroom tissue (toilet paper is not provided in many restrooms outside of the US), or for cleaning up spills.
34. Spot and Stain Remover
It’s pretty inevitable that you’ll spill on yourself at least once during your trip. Keep a Tide To-Go pen on hand to take care of the stain before it sets!
35. Mini Sewing Kit
It’s always nice to have a mini sewing kit on hand, just in case you lose a button or snag a hole in your favorite dress!
So there you have it, our essential beauty products for traveling. Do you have a favorite beauty product that you always carry with you when you travel? Let us know so we can add it to the list!

The Best Hair Products to Travel With, According to Stylists
Don't leave home without these.
Traveling is one of life’s great pleasures. But trying to have good hair on the go is about as challenging as getting through the TSA line these days. While we would all like to bring our entire product arsenal, travel and suitcase size restrictions make that impossible. So going with travel-size and double-duty products will help ensure your hair looks good when taking all those cute vacation pics. Here are the hair care products the pros like to take along with them.
1. K18 Hair Mask
Celebrity hairstylist Anthony Pazos is a big fan of traveling with K18 Molecular Repair Hair Mask ($75). The bottle is small, the product is highly concentrated, and best of all, you aren’t supposed to use conditioner with it, so it’s one less thing to bring. “Hands down, the best product to travel with is the K18 Mask. I like it because it helps repair brittle ends and prevents any breakage.”
2. Virtue Travel-Sized Shampoo and Mask
Skip the big, leaky bottles and travel smart. Sharon Dorram, celebrity colorist and owner of Sharon Dorram Color at Sally Hershberger , tells me, “I wish all companies would think to make travel sizes because it is truly the hardest part of packing. I always travel with travel-size Virtue shampoo and Restorative Treatment Mask as my conditioner.”
Mason Pearson
3. Mason Pearson Pocket Mixture Brush
Jennifer Nast , senior stylist at Sharon Dorram Color at Sally Hershberger, tells me she likes to travel light with a Mason Pearson Pocket Brush . “When you are on the go, you need a good brush to keep the fly always at bay. Brushing can also help to distribute the oil from your scalp. “
4. A Claw Clip
Easily and cheaply purchased, Nast suggests traveling with a claw clip ($9) to quickly style your hair. “It's an easy way to elevate a look, put up hair after the beach, and day-two travel hair."
5. T3 Compact Travel Flat Iron
Who wants to lug around a big, heavy flat iron? Nast recommends using the T3 Singlepass Compact ($89) model instead. “So cute and tiny! Refresh your blow dry or simply touch up your hairline. A quick fix when you are on the go.”
6. Phyto 9 Nourishing Day Cream
Looking for a double-duty product that can work on wet and dry hair? The Phyto 9 Nourishing Day Cream ($29) is a great choice according to Matthew Monzon , celebrity hair stylist. “It can be used on wet hair before blow drying to give you what you need to help control frizz and give you amazing shine. Or, as a finishing product to help give some texture to your hair. The big plus is if you're flying, you don’t need to put it in your checked luggage since it’s under the limit.”
7. Curlsmith Moisture Memory Reactivator
It's specially important to have the right products for curly hair. Sharley Butcher , textured hair care specialist and lead educator at Curlsmith tells me, "Wherever I go, I pack my haircare essentials in travel size, so I don't need to compromise luggage space. Curlsmith Moisture Memory Reactivator is perfect for refreshing my curls and bringing them back to life between wash days.”
8. Luisant6 Hair Primer
Whether you’re exploring a city or lying at the beach, celebrity hair and makeup artist Pamela Brogardi likes to use Hair Primer by Luisant6 ($24). “This product is CBD-infused and a hydrating leave-in spray. The hydrating bonding leave-in spray reduces blow drying time and transforms texture resulting in a sleek, glass-like shine. Spray before hitting the beach and after to keep your hair looking beach fabulous!”
9. Oribe Mini Gold Lust Dry Shampoo
Dry shampoo is great when traveling, but bringing one of those massive cans is a big no. Brogardi likes Mini Gold Lust Dry Shampoo by Oribe ($23). “Dry shampoo helps to absorb excess oil and refresh your hair between washes, making it an essential product for maintaining clean and voluminous hair on the go. The mini size is convenient for packing and adheres to airline travel regulations.”
10. Epres Bond Repair Treatment
Damage and frizz can be frustrating, which is why stylist Bradley Leake likes Epres Bond Repair Treatment ($34). “It keeps hair smooth and frizz-free while also fighting damage. It is also super easy to take with you as you can bring just the vial of concentrate and bottle in your travel bag,” he explains. “One other hack I recommend to clients is to spray this on before going on a plane or traveling so that you can treat as you go, then wash out and have gorgeous shiny hair once you reach your destination.”

By Danielle Sinay
Once upon a time, finding the best travel-size beauty products meant scouring the pharmacy “travel size” section and making do with that one tiny bottle of Cetaphil. But as interest in beauty, skin care, and hair care has evolved, so too have options for travel-size cosmetics. Now you can find almost any product from your beauty routine as a mini, from practical products like tinted sunscreen and thigh chafing balm to must-have face serums to tiny hair tools. Some might even be your favs you use everyday, in their original packaging, no less!
Whether you’re packing for vacation or want to test out cult-favorite cosmetics before you commit (no judgment here!), there are dozens of beloved beauty products that can now be procured in a compact, easy-to-pack, and TSA-approved form. Keep scrolling and see the 21 best travel-size beauty products ahead.

Supergoop! Mini Glowscreen Sunscreen SPF 40 Mini
Supergoop's Glow Screen is the ultimate multitasker and therefore perfect for toting on your next trip. Not only does it provide SPF 40 coverage, but it leaves the face glowing, glimmering, and sun-kissed without leaving a white cast , and can be worn solo for gorgeous “no-makeup makeup” glam or underneath foundation for a lit-from-within look. At 1.7 oz., the original bottle is technically TSA-approved, but the 0.68-oz. mini size is ideal for carrying in day-to-day bags, purses, and pockets. The more room, the merrier, right?
Paula’s Choice Mini Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant
You’ve likely heard all about Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant, the cult-favorite toner that really, truly works. But did you know it comes in an itty-bitty 1-ounce option too? Well, now you do. It’s so small it takes up little to no room, meaning you have that much more space to pack souvenirs without worrying about disrupting your skin care routine.
Megababe Thigh Rescue Mini
Thigh chafing is no joke, especially while walking more than usual on summer vacation. Fortunately, Megababe knows their audience and launched a mini version of their life- (and thigh-) saving anti-friction stick that’s just 0.81 oz. It’s so tiny you can throw it in any purse or even a pocket, and reapply as much as necessary. Megababe’s stick is derm approved too: “This easy-to-use formula glides on easily, and includes aloe and vitamin E to help soothe the skin, as well as pomegranate seed extract to protect the skin and grapeseed oil to help hydrate,” says Marisa Garshick, MD , FAAD, board-certified dermatologist.
Drunk Elephant Day Dream Kit: Mini C-Firma Fresh Day Serum + B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum
One of the hardest parts of traveling is having to part with your favorite face serums , so beauty buffs can breathe a collective sigh of relief: Drunk Elephant now offers its viral fitamin C serum in a 0.28-oz. form. The C-Firma Fresh Day Serum brightens and firms the complexion while improving skin texture and tone, and does so without clogging pores. It also comes with a mini B-Hydra serum, which provides additional hydration for a radiant finish.

Living Proof Travel-Size Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo
Whether you’re prone to sweating or simply don’t have time to shower, dry shampoo is a fairly universal travel essential. The only problem? The best ones usually don’t come in travel size, especially since they’re often aerosol cans. Or, at least they didn’t, until Living Proof released a 2.4-oz. version of their best-selling dry shampoo. You can even pack this in your carry-on. See you never, greasy bangs!
Belif Mini The True Cream Aqua Bomb
Gel based and lightweight, the Belif True Cream Aqua Bomb is a Glamour editor favorite that’s perfect for summer. It doesn’t clog pores, cause breakouts, or provoke excess oil production , but it is super moisturizing and gentle enough to not irritate sensitive skin. It also works remarkably well as a base or a nonsticky makeup primer or layering base, and is available in an itty-bitty 0.84-ounce mini size . So whether you want to try before you buy bigger or plan to carry it onto your summer vacation flight, you (and your skin) are covered.
Dermalogica Mini Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator
You might be taking a break from work while on vacation, but that doesn’t mean you should have to stop exfoliating. Consistently named one of the best face scrubs, Dermalogica’s microfoliant exfoliator combats dullness and brightness without being too rough on the skin. Plus, the formula is customizable—it’s a powder that turns into a paste when mixed with water—and gentle enough to use daily. And now, it comes in a 0.45-oz. option.
Sunday Riley Power Couple Mini Kit: Mini Good Genes & Luna Sleeping Oil
Celebrities, editors, and dermatologists love Sunday Riley’s iconic Good Genes serum—it’s cited in practically every other Drop the Routine —and with good reason. This serum smooths, brightens, and clears skin while plumping and combatting fine lines, and works in as little as three minutes. The Luna Sleeping Oil is esteemed too—Paris Hilton and makeup artist Nam Vo are both fans—since it helps brighten the skin while soothing redness and irritation. Together, these MVPs are unstoppable: And now, at 0.27 and 0.17 oz., they’re TSA-approved.
BaBylissPRO Mini Straightening Iron with Travel Pouch
Most hotels and Airbnbs have hair dryers but are without essential hair tools like hair straighteners. But while some hair simply can’t be tamed with just a dryer, packing a full-size hair straightener can be a pain. Enter BaByliss, who re-created the company’s popular hair straightener in a tiny travel size, complete with a pouch. Now you can straighten and fix your hair anywhere and everywhere that has an outlet.
Oribe Mini Dry Texturizing Spray
Texturizing spray is truly the unsung hero of the hairstyling world, and Oribe’s is often credited as the industry gold standard. Adored by beauty editors and hairstylists alike, it’s great on all hair types and textures; provides lightweight hold and texture without feeling sticky or weighing hair down; adds volume, texture, and grit; and somehow smells good too. The fact that it comes in a 2.2-oz. bottle is pretty much a miracle.
Bumble and Bumble Mini Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil
Bumble and Bumble offers most of its products in travel sizes, which has earned the brand a permanent place in many beauty lover carry-ons. This oil not only makes hair smell and feel amazing, but it completely combats humidity-induced frizz while protecting hair from heat and UV rays. At 0.28 oz., it easily packs in your purse on hot, humid days so you can reapply for extra protection and frizz defense.
Tatcha Mini Liquid Silk Canvas: Featherweight Protective Primer
Tatcha’s Liquid Silk Canvas is a Glamour Beauty Award winner —and considered one of Tatcha’s best products —for a reason. It smooths and blurs the skin upon application, almost like IRL airbrushing, and provides the perfect canvas for foundation, since it doesn’t budge, get oily, or lose coverage all day. Which is why the fact that it’s available in a 0.35-oz. bottle is a life-, and makeup-, saver.
Laura Mercier Mini Translucent Loose Setting Powder
Laura Mercier’s cult-favorite loose setting powder is a godsend when it comes to setting makeup, but the packaging is on the larger side, which makes it hard to travel with. Fortunately, Laura Mercier’s setting powder now comes in a perfectly combat-ready 0.33-oz. travel size so you and your makeup are set for your next trip.
Mario Badescu Travel-Size Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater

So when Stewart’s facialist Carmela Barabas revealed she uses and loves the cult-favorite facial spray that revives dehydrated skin, we knew it deserved a spot on this list. Especially since it’s so useful for dehydrated, post-flight skin and refreshing touch-ups throughout travel days.
Olaplex Healthy Hair Maintenance Kit: Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector + Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment
Everyone from Emma Stone to Glamour editors to hair pros swear that Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector is one of the best hair treatments around. Glamour even named it our choice for best hair mask over all . That said, some editors specifically point to the combination of No. 3 and the Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment as what truly transformed their hair, which makes the fact that both are available as 1-oz. bottles that much more convenient—and good for our hair. Also of note? Their equally beloved Olaplex No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and Conditioner come in travel sizes too.
Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Makeup Remover & Cleanser Mini
Garnier’s micellar water might not scream “cult-favorite beauty product” at first, but this versatile skin care staple undeniably deserves a spot on the list. Especially since it makes for such an ideal travel buddy, no matter the kind of trip you’re on: This classic cosmetic allows you to remove makeup, cleanse your face, and soothe the skin without any water.
Milk Makeup Mini Lip + Cheek Cream Blush + Lip Color
Milk Makeup
Who doesn’t love a multipurpose beauty product, especially when it comes to travel? There is so little space to pack as is, so having one cosmetic that acts as a beautiful blush and lip tint —formulated with hydrating ingredients—can make all the difference. Milk Makeup released special-edition travel sizes of the cult-favorite blush on their website too; they’re so compact, they can fit into the tiniest of bag or even your pocket.
Clinique Mini Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm Makeup Remover
Whether you double-cleanse to remove makeup or triple-cleanse just in case, a solid cleansing balm is a universal beauty staple. And Clinique’s is widely considered the gold standard in that department, so much so it was nominated for a Glamour Reader’s Choice Award for best cleanser . Gentle, hydrating, and extremely effective, this cleansing balm melts away makeup, sunscreen, and dirt, and now comes in a mini 1-oz. size.
Smashbox X Becca Mini Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter
Becca’s going out of business was heartbreaking for everyone, especially beauty buffs who loved the brand’s Champagne Pop pressed highlighter . Fortunately, Smashbox took it upon itself to bring the beloved highlighter back—and offer it in a travel size that’s so small, many fans forget it’s in their bag in the first place.
Thrive Causemetics Deluxe Mini Liquid Lash Extensions
Thrive Causemetics Deluxe Liquid Lash Extensions mascara is another universally beloved makeup essential . Formulated with liquid fibers, orchid stem cell complex, and Japanese pepper extract, this mascara builds and lengthens lashes, encourages lash growth, and helps condition them, so you’re supporting your lashes while making them look glam too. And when it comes to the mini, it’s so tiny you'll barely notice it’s in your bag, though you’ll certainly see its effects on your glam.
Urban Decay Mini All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray
If you’re going to bother bringing all these travel-size beauty products on vacation, you might as well make sure they stay put. Lightweight and easy to use, Urban Decay’s All Nighter setting spray really lives up to its name, remaining smudge- and transfer-proof for up to 16 hours. Translation? Your glam will stay in place whether you you embark on a historical walking tour or dance all night at the discoteque (or both). It’s no wonder it has as an average rating of 4.6 across Sephora, Ulta, and Amazon—especially now that it comes in a 1-oz. bottle.

PACKING GUIDE: TRAVEL BEAUTY ESSENTIALS

Travelling can quickly undo all of the hard work we have made through the year on looking after our skin. When you are busy exploring a new destination, it is easy to forget to cleanse properly when you get back to your hotel at the end of a long day of sightseeing. And oftentimes we leave some of our usual products at home in order to pack light – but in fact, when we travel is the most important time to be looking after our skin!
First, your skin has to deal with a long travel day to get to your destination, probably with time spent in an aeroplane and at airports, then at your destination, you may be met with a potentially extreme climate change – either going from a cold climate to a hot climate or vice versa. Then your diet and alcohol intake may change because you are travelling. All of this adds up and can wreak havoc on our skin so it’s important to bring good products along with us on vacation. So ditch one of the pair of shoes and make sure your bag is packed with some wonder products to look after your skin.
In this guide, I share my absolute favorite skincare products that I always have in my wash bag when I travel. You don’t need to go out and buy all of these at once, some of them are investment products and you should select a couple that suits you and your travels. I have broken up my recommendations into beauty essentials for a long haul flight, for a winter/snow vacay, for a summer holiday and finally my year-round must-haves.
Beauty Products For A Long Haul Flight
Staying hydrated during a long haul flight is absolutely essential. Before any long travel day I make sure to drink plenty of water for at least 48 hrs before the flight, this helps with jetlag and keeping your skin hydrated once you get onto the plane. But drinking water isn’t always enough, so I make sure to pack a set of hydration essentials in my carry on so I can stay fresh during the flight.
- SkinMatrix HD Exfoliating Cleansing Pads – Once on the flight you probably want to remove your make-up. I typically use a simple face wash at home, but on a flight, this is a bit tricky with the tiny bathroom sinks! So I tried to use facial wipes, however everyone I used dried my skin and irritated my eyes until I discovered Skin Matrix! These products are moisturising and with no irritation making them my go-to facial cleansing wipe available in a handy container that is perfect for my carry on. And since they are not liquid I don’t have to worry about the 100ml rule.
- Vichy Mineral 89 Serum – I love this Vichy product because it is so light and refreshing. It doesn’t feel heavy on your skin at all, so once you have used the Skin Matrix wipes to cleanse I recommend applying a good amount of this serum and reapplying a couple more times through the flight if you are travelling long haul.
- Vichy LiftActiv Hyalu Eye Patches – About two hours before landing, pull out your eye patches and wear these for around 15 minutes to revitalise the under-eye area. This will leave you enough time to then make your way to the bathroom and put on a bit of make-up so you emerge from your flight looking your best!
- Lanolips 101 Ointment – Keep your lips moisturised throughout the flight with this original super balm. Pro-tip – use this ointment in other dry areas, such as your cuticles throughout the flight.
- L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream – I always travel with hand cream as my hands are one of the areas I find that dry out the most on travel days. This is worsened by frequently using hand sanitizer at the airport and on the flight. I like L’Occitane because you can buy this in packs of three and in small travel sizes. Plus I love the smell of their products!
- Silk Eye Mask – Bring your own silk eye mask onboard so that you can refresh your eyes whilst sleeping on the flight. I prefer to bring my own silk one as this is less rough on your eye area than the ones airlines provide.
- VitSpritz Adult Multivitamin Spray – An easy way to get your vitamins on the go whilst travelling, VitSpritz is a perfect travel companion to pop into your hand luggage.
Beauty Products For A Winter Vacation
- Lanolips 101 Ointment – Again this product is perfect during your trip. Carry this with you in your ski jacket and make sure to apply regularly throughout the day.
- House of Aenea Corrective Oxygen Mask – After spending a bit of time in the sauna or steam room at your ski resort treat your ski to this divine oxygen mask to refresh and get ready for the next day.
- Sanoflore Rosa Angelica 48hr Hydrating Night Balm – After a long day in the cold weather I love to end with a rich hydrating night cream, and Sanoflore’s Rosa Angelica is my go-to product!
- Vaseline – Nothing beats it! I find tubs of vaseline all over my house. I use it for dry skin, on my lips, on burns or cuts. I always travel with a small pot of Vaseline, especially for winter holidays.
Beauty Products For A Summer Vacation
- House of Aenea Fruit Acid Gel Exfoliator During the summer it’s important to exfoliate, but to not go overboard either! If you exfoliate every day and use rough products you may be putting your skin at risk from sun damage. So I exfoliate 3 times per week and use a gentle exfoliator like this one from House of Aenea. Since it is made up of natural fruit acids, they are gentle on your skin whilst also removing harmful pollutants and clearing dead skin cells.
- Skinceuticals Ultra Defence SPF 50+ – I have been using Factor 50 Face Cream for years and try and avoid getting too much sun on my face. This handbag-sized Skinceuticals SPF is perfect for travel and I wouldn’t leave home without it. Except in England – since the sun doesn’t shine too often here!
- Skinceuticals Advanced Pigment Corrector – If you suffer from dark spots or any sun damage on your face then look no further than this Skinceuticals product. I have tried several different pigment correctors and none of them made a difference, except this one. It was recommended to me by my dermatologist, and yes it’s expensive but its 100% worth the investment!
- Frank Bod A-Beauty Scrub This is an absolute essential year-round. This magic coffee scrub made with ingredients native to Australian habitat is the best scrub I have ever used! It makes your skin feel silky smooth and nourished.
- Coola Factor 50 SPF – Coola’s organic sunscreens are kind to your skin, to the environment and the ocean so make sure to pack this for your days at the beach.
Beauty Products For City Travel
- House of Aenea Anti Pollution Guardian – If you are travelling to a city then this House of Aenea is the perfect vegan product to fight pollution found every day in the city, as well as UV and extreme climates.
- Aster & Bay – All Natural Activated Charcoal Face Wash – After a day exploring the city make sure to cleanse properly. This activated charcoal helps to clear impurities and can absorb thousands of times its own weight in free radicals such as bacteria pollution.
Beauty Products To Wear All Year Round
- SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF Gel Whilst this serum is expensive, it is absolutely 100% worth the investment! Skinceuticals are one of my favourite skincare brands, the minute you apply this serum you feel like you have just had a facial. The serum tightens your skin and irons outlines. It’s an absolute essential all year round.
- Skinceuticals HA Intensifier Like the Phloroten gel this serum is magical on your skin. It tightens outlines, improves elasticity and firmness. In all honesty, I would recommend any Skinceuticals products because I have loved every single one I have used to date!
- Estee Lauder Daywear Plus SPF 15 – I started using this day cream when I was 23 yrs old and I still use it every morning. I love trying out richer creams and serums depending on the time of year or location I am in, but I always have this staple product in my beauty bag! I credit this product with my lack of wrinkles (well almost lack of!)
- Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream – I have very sensitive skin, especially around my eyes so I am wary of trying too many products or switching to alternatives so I have mostly used this night repair eye cream since I was in my early twenties. However, I am still in search of good sensitive eye creams, and richer ones – so please leave any tips or your own favourites in the comments!
- Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Wash – This is one of the few face washes that I have found that can clear off any mascara easily and quickly. I typically use a face wash to remove eye make-up since wipes can pull at the skin around your eyes. This is a cheap essential that I use day in and day out!
Travel Haircare
I have fine hair, that easily breaks and takes years and years to grow! I tend to find most hair products weigh down my hair so I have to use very small amounts and only use one product at a time. But with so much travel, elements like chlorine, sun and heat damage I often find my hair in desperate need of some love and attention – so I usually turn to my range of Kevin Murphy products. Plus for those of you who like to support companies looking to make a difference and help reduce plastic pollution, you will love Kevin Murphy – in 2019 they began their programme to collect plastic waste from the ocean and use it create recycled packaging – removing 360 tonnes of plastic from the oceans every year! Watch this video to learn more .
- Kevin Murphy Angel Rinse & Wash – Since I have fine hair I use the Angel Rinse and Angel Wash for fine coloured hair. I love the scent and my hair feels super soft after washing with these. Try the Kevin Murphy Product Matchmaker quiz to discover the perfect products for you.
- Kevin Murphy Angel Mask – I use this hair mask when my hair is need of a bit of love and attention, especially in winter months or when I have spent too much time in the sun and sea!
- Redken All Soft Leave In Conditioner – If my hair is really dry or knotted after washing when travelling I use this leave in spray conditioner. It is not too heavy and helps make sure my comb gets through my hair without breaking it!
Looking after your skin as you travel the world is integral, you don’t want to undo all your good work from the rest of the year by leaving your products at home and skipping proper cleansing and moisturising. I hope this guide has helped you identify some hero products that will keep your skin beautiful no matter what climate and conditions you are in when you travel!

The 14 Best Travel-Size Beauty Products
You won’t have to abandon your regimen with these excellent miniature picks.
Few things are more exciting than traveling, especially after almost two years of doing nearly everything from home. Whether you’re heading home to visit your family or escaping the cold weather and fleeing to a sandy beach in the tropics, there’s a certain thrill that comes with packing a bag and getting out of town for a bit. Exciting as it is, though, there are a few aspects of travel that we’d rather do without — and we’re not just talking about long check-in lines, flight delays, and $7 bottles of water at the airport.
Any beauty aficionado can attest to the challenge of picking from your trusty arsenal of skincare and hair-care products that you’ve tailored to your wants and needs. You’ve likely spent years building and curating your beauty routine. So, when faced with TSA’s confining nothing-greater-than-3.4-ounces size restriction, it can often feel like leaving your beloved toiletries behind is the only real option (after all, who wants to try squeezing serums and toners into travel-friendly bottles only to end up sacrificing lots of expensive product?).
Luckily for the current and future globe-trotters among us, though, more beauty brands are offering travel-size versions of their best-selling skincare, hair care, and makeup than ever before — and their adorably miniature sizes are sure to bring a smile to your face. From individually packaged facial wipes and mini serums to petite perfumes and compact hair dryers, here are the travel-friendly beauty products we can’t go anywhere without.
The best travel-size cleanser: Youth to the People Superfood Cleanser
Between the free-flying germs at the airport and the harsh air quality during your flight, traveling can expose skin to some seriously concerning dirt and grime, so it’s important to have a cleanser you can trust to help restore purity and cleanliness when you finally arrive. The consistently popular Superfood Cleanser from industry-favorite brand Youth to the People harnesses the antioxidant powers of kale, spinach, and green tea to prevent buildup in pores and balance your skin’s pH without drying or stripping.
The best travel-size toner: Glow Recipe Mini Watermelon Glow PHA + BHA Pore-Tight Toner
Toner can be a game-changing step in any skincare routine, and going on vacation is hardly a reason to skip it. Fortunately, with this mini version of Glow Recipe’s best-selling Watermelon Glow Toner, you won’t have to. The PHA and BHA-infused lightweight toner is rich with watermelon extract to hydrate and soothe skin while delivering essential vitamins and amino acids, and it is suitable for any skin type.
The best travel-size serum: Murad Mini Vitamin C Glycolic Brightening Serum
Vitamin C is a hugely important ingredient to incorporate into your routine, as it protects skin from harmful toxins and free radicals, helps heal blemishes, and reduces hyperpigmentation and dark spots. This serum from Murad is not only rich with vitamin C, but it’s also formulated with glycolic acid to help the antioxidants penetrate more deeply and phyto luminescent extract to visibly illuminate the skin.
The best travel-size moisturizer: Augustinus Bader Mini The Rich Cream with TFC8 Face Moisturizer
In recent years, one moisturizer has risen through the ranks of the skincare world more than any other, becoming an instant favorite of celebrities and beauty insiders everywhere: Augustinus Bader. The super-luxe face cream is intensely hydrating and is powered by the brand’s proprietary TFC8, which has been clinically shown to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation. Grab this mini version to help combat the drying effects of flying and keep your skin working overtime, even when you’re on vacation.
The best travel-size face oil: The Feelist Most Wanted Radiant Facial Oil
Although the moisturizer versus facial oil debate is alive and well, we know that the decision between the two really does come down to personal preference. With that in mind, you should have a travel-friendly facial oil at the ready, and the Feelist’s CBD-infused Most Wanted oil is just that. The best-selling oil is deeply hydrating and helps fight blemishes while calming redness and inflammation to leave you with the best glow of your life.
The best travel-size face mask: onå New York Airplane Mode Intense Hydration Gel Mask
Traveling can dry out skin like almost nothing else, and sometimes it takes more than just your go-to moisturizer to replenish its hydration, which is why the Intense Hydration Gel Mask from onå New York is such a savior. With hyaluronic acid, beta-glucan, and camellia japonica, the sheet mask restores the skin’s moisture barrier and prevents dehydration while enhancing skin elasticity to deliver a visibly plumped and energized complexion.
The best travel-size sunscreen: Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40
Whether you’re spending a week on the beach or heading to the snow, any dermatologist will tell you that the most important thing to have in your suitcase is sunscreen. This adorable mini from cult-favorite sun-care brand Supergoop! offers the beloved invisible and weightless sunscreen with SPF 40 protection in a travel-friendly size, and it’s a can’t-miss for your next trip.
The best travel-size makeup remover: Then I Met You Cleansing Balm
Instead of using wasteful makeup wipes, consider using a cleansing balm. There’s a reason that this luxurious balm from Then I Met You has won so many awards. The star of this show, seaberry oil, is an antioxidant and fatty acid that softens skin and gives this balm its beautiful color. Also formulated with grapeseed oil, olive oil, and vitamin E, Then I Met You Cleansing Balm will undoubtedly leave your skin feeling nourished and radiant.
The best travel-size hair-care set: Oribe #OribeObsessed Set
Many folks skip hair care when packing for a trip, instead settling for whatever generic shampoo and conditioner is at their hotel shower, but your locks shouldn’t have to suffer just because you’re on the road. Instead, reach for the #OribeObsessed Set, which features the brand’s best-selling Gold Lust Repair and Restore Shampoo and Conditioner to help heal damaged hair and protect it from future damage and the Dry Texturizing Spray to build volume and texture while absorbing oil at the source.
The best travel-size dry shampoo: OUAI Mini Super Dry Shampoo
There are some occasions when washing your hair simply isn’t an option — and then there are others when it is an option but not one that you’re choosing to take. For those times, a good dry shampoo is an absolute must, and this super-absorbent dry shampoo from OUAI is a surefire way to revive hair’s volume and body while leaving it clean and healthy. No one will ever know you didn’t just come straight from a blowout!
The best travel-size hair dryer: GHD Flight Travel Hair Dryer
Much like shampoo and conditioner, a hair dryer is often something people think to pack when traveling, instead of opting to save space and leave their hair at the mercy of a subpar hotel hair dryer. But with GHD’s Flight Travel Hair Dryer, you don’t have to sacrifice your hair’s health or valuable real estate in your suitcase. The compact hair dryer is as powerful as it is portable and features an array of speed and temperature settings, dual voltage, and a removable nozzle, and it folds up nicely to fit amongst all your other things.
The best travel-size hairbrush: Drybar Lil’ Lemon Drop Daily Detangler
A hairbrush is something you definitely can’t (and shouldn’t) live without, but the one you use at home will likely take up far more space in your suitcase than it really needs to, which is why we love Drybar’s Lil’ Lemon Drop Daily Detangler. The mini brush is suitable for all hair types and uses flexible bristles to detangle wet or dry hair with ease, and it’s small enough to fit in even your smallest purses.
The best travel-size deodorant: Megababe Rosy Pits Mini
There’s a lot of talk about natural deodorants, but if we’re honest with ourselves, we know that none of them seems to do the trick — that is, until Megababe’s Rosy Pits. Instead of using aluminum to block sweat ducts from producing sweat, the antiperspirant helps prevent odor-causing bacteria from forming on the skin without the use of baking soda, alcohol, or parabens. The deodorant goes on smooth and clear and keeps your underarms smelling of roses all day long, and now you can grab the mini size to take it with you on all your travels, near and far.
The best travel-size perfume: Diptyque Do Son Travel Spray
Perfume is often left behind when we travel because of the space it takes up in a bag and its non-essential nature, but really, who wouldn’t want to smell their best when on vacation? For the best of both worlds, try the Do Son Travel Spray from beloved fragrance brand Diptyque. The portable bottle is the ideal travel companion, thanks to its compact size and ability to be refilled with any classic Diptyque perfume. But it’s also a traveler itself, with a design that’s inspired by the vintage noticeboards that once appeared in airports and train stations around the world, and you can even customize the bottle with your own name, word, or phrase.

By Michelle Rostamian
Shiseido Perfecting Stick Concealer
You can swipe this creamy compact concealer on right out of the tube and blend it in easily with your finger, so there's no need to pack a brush.
Karuna Hydrating+ Face Mask
Whether you're bold enough to go the wear-on-the-plane -and-scare-your-fellow-passengers route or would rather wait until you hit the hotel room, this ultra-moisturizing sheet mask will soothe and revive dull, dry, plane-air-ravaged skin.
Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black Solid Perfume Compact
Even if you love your signature scent, we're guessing you're not super into the idea of it spilling all over the contents of your suitcase. That's where this compact comes in: It houses a mirror and a balmlike solid vanilla-violet-and-sandalwood fragrance that's completely drip-proof.
Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray
The company took its OG salt spray for creating perfect beachy waves and put it in tiny 1.7-ounce bottles to make it both adorable and conveniently portable.
Lavanila the Healthy Deodorant in Pure Vanilla Mini
Meet the rare natural, aluminum-free deodorant that actually works—in fact, it's so good, we've given it a Best of Beauty Award. This compact version packs all the same wetness- and odor-fighting power in a less bulky package.
Su:m37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick
A solid cleansing balm in stick form that a) won't leak or drip and b) couldn't be easier to use. This antioxidant-packed pick, made by innovative Korean skin-care brand Su:m37, is a favorite of Soko Glam founder Charlotte Cho. Just twist the dial at the bottom (like you would a Chapstick), then massage it into your skin and rinse or wipe off. It's so simple, you could even do it on an airplane.
The Honest Company Hand Sanitizer Spray
Most hand sanitizers smell like obscenely cheap vodka. These spritz-on ones smell like lemongrass, lavender, and oranges. And if that weren't enough of a minor miracle, they're also way less drying than most other formulas we've tried, thanks to a dose of aloe and glycerin.
La Prairie Anti-Aging Eye and Lip Perfection á Porter
On-the-go skin care doesn't get much more luxurious than this eye and lip duo. It combines a creamy, superthick—but not at all sticky—lip balm that melts into lips with a lightweight yet quenching eye cream, packaged together in one mirrored compact. Both formulas are gentle, so they won't further agitate skin that's been through a lot (say, a transatlantic journey).
EOS Every Day Hand Lotion
The slim, rounded tube can squeeze into even the tiniest pocket of your carry-on. Plus, it's lightweight and nongreasy, so it soaks in in seconds, leaving a pleasant scent and softness in its wake.
MoRoCcanoil Dry Shampoo
Dry shampoo is a travel must: Who wants to waste precious vacation time washing and styling her hair? The formula in this 1.7-ounce can smells heavenly, degreases strands, and comes in two different tints, so there's none of that chalky cast other versions can leave.
Laneige BB Cushion
We've all seen that "Oh, no! My nudes leaked!" meme that's a photo of a drippy foundation bottle—and for anyone who's ever had a makeup-bag travel mishap, it's all too real. This compact contains a cushion soaked with a thin BB cream that is about as leakproof as it gets. It also hides blemishes, evens skin tone, hydrates, and offers sun protection.
Grown Alchemist Hydra-Mist+ Desert Lime & Amino-Peptide
Aerosols can sometimes do weird things in pressurized airplane cabins. And so can your skin. This non-aerosol mist is spiked with hyaluronic acid, pomegranate, and bilberry-leaf extracts to calm inflammation, as well as peptides and antioxidants to protect and bolster skin during even the longest flights.
Coola 4-Piece Organic Suncare Travel Set
This kit is basically a dermatologist's dream. It contains every kind of sunscreen you could possibly need: a spray-on natural one that smells like coconuts, a smaller bring-with-you-to-the-beach lotion, and a lip balm—all with SPF 30. There's also a tube of aloe-laced after-sun moisturizer to help rehab skin in case you (somehow) miss a spot.
Fresh Seaberry Restorative Body Cream
In case we haven't made it clear: Traveling makes your skin really freakin' dry. And that doesn't just mean your face. This buttery, paraben -free 2.2-ounce cream helps it bounce back with a blend of four different omegas, plus seaberry oil and cranberry-seed oil.

Long, thick, healthy hair is always a pleasure to have. True beauty is more than skin deep, but you should care for them since you have them. Ignoring them does no good. 1. Hair oiling
Oiling your roots and tips is one of the most excellent hair care tips for travelling we can provide you. Argan or coconut oil is ideal for hair.
In addition to nourishing the hair follicles, coconut oil contains essential fatty acids and vitamins. They are also less processed and hence more nourishing. The most refined coconut oil is a cold-pressed virgin. Argan oil is widely used to cure hair .

If you want to wash your hair before travelling, do it the day before and let it air dry. Your hair will dry out if you wash it the day before you leave. This pulls dust. So plan your hair wash a day ahead. And if you want to avoid the damage caused by a hairdryer , let your hair dry naturally up to 70-80% and then use a cold setting on your dryer.
3. Hair Spray Or Serums
Girls enjoy straightening and curling their hair. A curling iron or straightener is always in a girl’s suitcase when she travels. So, here’s a tip: apply a heat-protection serum or a spray before using any hair-damaging product. John Frieda Frizz Ease All-in-1 Extra Strength Serum works wonders . It not only protects but also nourishes your hair. Boys don’t require serums; coconut oil is sufficient for sustenance.
4. Putting into Bun
Bun your greasy scalp. Bun your dry hair. Also, if you want to bun it, do it. Hair accessories can safeguard short and long-haired men . Knotting a bun won’t affect it. Let it go.

5. Sunblock
Like your skin, protect your hair from the sun. Use sun protection serums on your hair . The most crucial hair care advice while traveling is to use sun protection hair serums.
Comb your hair regularly, especially if it is wavy or curly. Curly hair is dry. Never leave uncombed hair. It will just tangle your hair further, and the hair fall will take away your smile. Invest in wooden combs for your hair . Plastic combs generate static electricity, causing hair strand breaking. Electricity does not like wood.
7. Drink plenty of water and eat well
Aside from the exterior hair care, we also need to focus on internal hair care to keep it healthy. Keep hydrated by consuming 8-10 glasses of water every day . Enjoy healthy eating. Long-term travelers should reserve lodgings hourly to ensure a whole night’s sleep. Sleep is as essential to healthy hair as food is to health.

Best Travel hair care essentials, 2024:
1. hair accessories.
Always choose to wear a headband , cap , or scarf . So that dirt and dryness do not harm your hair. Beautiful scarves are now available to look great with your trip outfit and protect your hair. This is arguably the most luxurious travel hair care tip.
2. Shampoos and Conditioners
Take your own shampoo and conditioner during traveling . Travel hair care recommendations are incomplete without them. Spend adequate time picking your shampoo and conditioner. Nowadays, shampoos contain alcohol since it is inexpensive and readily available. Never buy a shampoo that contains alcohol. It merely dries your hair.
3. Dry shampoo
Your hair may get dirty, or you may stay in guest homes that do not supply shampoo and conditioner. If you can’t carry your shampoo , use dry shampoo .
Spray it on your scalp, then let it dry. It will remove excess oil from your scalp. If you don’t have dry shampoo, baby powder will do. It absorbs all scalp oil.

28 Black-Owned Beauty Brands Making Travel-Friendly Products We Love
By Charu Suri and Paris Wilson
All products featured on Condé Nast Traveler are independently selected by our editors. However, when you buy something through our retail links, we may earn an affiliate commission.
For too long, beauty products have catered primarily to those with European features, and ignored the specific needs of those with natural hair and darker skin tones. And it gets harder to find products when you further narrow the pool to travel-sized or travel-friendly items. Great beauty essentials for all travelers do exist, though—if you know where to look. Black-owned beauty brands like Black Girl Sunscreen and Range Beauty make sunscreens, serums, and beard oil for various skin and hair types. They also have concealers in inclusive shades that suit a range of skin tones.
The best way to ensure that there are more of these much-needed products? By supporting and buying from the Black-owned brands making them. (And yes, many of these products work just as well on Black and non-Black skin and hair.) Read on to discover 28 Black-owned beauty brands we love—and the travel-friendly products worth packing on your next trip.
This article has been updated with new information since its original publish date.
Topicals has become a household name in the skincare space. The products have been deemed holy grail items and treat much more than just what the name conveys. For instance, the popular Faded Serum targets discoloration but also treats acne, redness, and blemishes. The handful of products that the brand offers target and treat common skin conditions such as hyperpigmentation, eczema, and psoriasis.
Melyon is a Swedish skincare line that was created by Roger Dupé in 2020. The skincare line creates products that help combat skin inflictions that plague melanated skin such as hyperpigmentation and dark spots. The natural ingredients include and aren't limited to aloe vera, corn, and broccoli. Although the brand was created with people of color in mind, the ingredients are universal and help the concerns of all skin types and tones imaginable.
Vegan Mia Organics
The term “organic” is tossed around quite casually in the beauty industry. But Life Schneider, who launched Vegan Mia in 2020, doesn’t mess around with her oil-based skincare products—everything she sells is USDA certified organic, and her site details the sources of each ingredient. The PETA-certified line includes a serum packed with seven superfruit oils, including baobab and acai, which acts as a multivitamin and hydrating agent perfect for combatting jet lag. Plus, Vegan Mia sells three elixirs— Strength , Harmony , and Clarity —which are meant to be mixed into the serum for an added boost.
Growing up on sun-soaked courts, tennis superstar and four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka didn't give much thought to sunscreen. Once she realized the importance of protecting her skin, she decided to create a line of products specifically formulated for people like her who may have also been misinformed about skincare needs. “Those of us with melanated skin might not see the need to apply sunscreen since we’ve been told our natural melanin will protect us, but that’s actually not the case,” Osaka said in an email. Her line, Kinlo —the words “Kin” and “Lo” mean gold in Japanese and Haitian Creole, an homage to Osaka's bicultural heritage—uses fine non-chemical ingredients like niacinamide, a vitamin, in its products. Pack the star product, Golden Rays Sunscreen with SPF 50, and rest easy knowing it's formulated to preserve melanin and protect against hyperpigmentation, all while being reef-safe and cruelty free.
This skincare brand was created by three sisters from Ghana who realized they wanted more from the shea butter products their families used, many of which were labeled as pure shea butter but were actually filled with toxic chemicals. The line, Karité , uses sustainably-sourced ingredients from Ghana and the U.S. to create products that are beautifully wrapped in recyclable packaging topped with a chic bamboo cap. The family’s palm oil factory generates its own electricity, too: “After the fresh palm fruit bunches are processed, the energy plant that the factory has on site uses a mix of the palm fiber, palm kernel shells, and empty fruit bunches as fuel for the turbine to convert superheated steam into electricity,” the Karité founders told Traveler in an email. “The energy plant generates 100 percent of the electricity that the factory needs, so the factory is able to operate off the grid.”
Ayanna Denise Skin
After a divorce, Ayanna Freeman focused her energies on a new hobby: creating a face oil using plant-based, all-natural ingredients. She gave the product to her friends and family to test out, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. As people recognized improvements in their skin (related to issues like discoloration and scaly dryness), she took the ability to heal to the next level, starting Ayanna Denise Skin in 2020 with a goal of addressing everything from eczema to psoriasis in a holistic way. Try out her products with the best-sellers kit: It comes with a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer, all inside a handy travel pouch.
Helen Rose Skincare
Let’s be honest: Our skin needs a lot of moisture and love when we travel, especially when we're bouncing between climates. This Portland -based organic skincare line originally started when owner Day Bibb received a grant from American Express as part of a program to help fund 100 Black women-owned businesses. And now, she's paying it forward—a percentage of the proceeds from Helen Rose products go toward Om Thrive Foundation , a non-profit Bibb founded to provide yoga and wellness resources to survivors of domestic violence. One of her favorite Helen Rose products? “ Cupuaçu is a ‘super-moisturizer’ that is much lighter and absorbs much faster than shea butter-based products,” she says.
Holly Hall Supply Co.
What started as a 2017 Kickstarter campaign now attracts a loyal following, particularly in Houston , where the brand was born. Creator Justin D. Moore, whose dad and brother are dermatologists, started the line to offer a straightforward skin care routine—and that's exactly what you'll get with Holly Hall. Start with the Essentials Skin Care Travel Kit , which includes a face wash with energizing peppermint, a shaving gel made with willow bark and floral extracts, and a collagen moisturizer. We also love the organic beard oil with argan and jojoba oils, which softens coarse hairs.
Buttah Skin
“No one I knew with melanin-rich skin ever talked about skincare or addressed my skin concerns,” says Buttah Skin founder Dorian Renaud. So, he created the products that his skin craved, with ingredients like creamy shea butter, imported from Africa, and vitamins A and E. The vitamin C serum is a favorite, with antioxidants like green tea and grapeseed to fight wrinkles, blemishes, and pigmentation issues. The daily gel cleanser , with calming lavender, is great for soothing tired skin after a long flight or drive .
Black Girl Sunscreen
It can be tough to find a sunscreen that caters to melanin-rich skin. So in 2016, Shontay Lundy, frustrated that every sunscreen she tried left a pesky residue, created this paraben-free brand to suit her needs. Black Girl Sunscreen 's sheer formula has no fragrance and only natural ingredients, including avocado, jojoba, aloe, cocoa butter, and carrot juice—and, thankfully, it leaves no residue. Order it online, or find it in stores at Target or Ulta (in case you need to restock mid-trip).
Hanahana Beauty
Abena Boamah-Acheampong, who started Hanahana in 2017, wanted to give back to the Katariga women of Tamale, Ghana , who handcraft the shea butter that goes into her beauty products. “We pay two times the fair-trade price for it,” says Boamah-Acheampong. A small tin of her shea balm is small enough to fit into your purse or pocket while promising to leave your lips smooth and chap-free. We also love the exfoliating cleanser made from black soap and honey.
Beauty Stat
Cosmetic chemist Ron Robinson, the CEO and founder of BeautyStat, spent five years finding a completely stable version of pure vitamin C. The result is his Universal C Skin Refiner , a silky serum that smooths and evens skin with continued use over time, on all skin types, and is lightweight enough to be used in hot summer temperatures. Chase it with BeautyStat's rich moisturizer , made from bio-fermented ingredients, which acts as a shield against polluted air on city trips.
Skôt Beauté
Toks Fahm Ajayi's Skôt fuses African beauty rituals and French spa secrets, in a line of skincare essentials that includes serums, oils, masks, and peels. The Discovery Kit is a good way to get to know the brand—it has four miniatures, including a light cleansing cream, hydrating mist, Lip Smoothie treatment, and a moisturizer made with grape skin and spinach leaf extracts.
Fenty Beauty
Started in 2017 by recording artist, actress, and 2023's Super Bowl Halftime Performer, Rihanna, Fenty Beauty has been making head waves since it first came on the scene. Since launching, Fenty Beauty has set records and new standards for the makeup market with its wide foundation shade range. With more than 55 shades of the Pro Filt'r Soft Matte foundation available with varying undertones from olive to red, you'll find the perfect match.
Beauty Bakerie
Initially, it's hard to pass up on cute designs such as the Butter Hydra Silk Primer or Organic Blending Eggs , but after trying out Beauty Bakerie it'll be your one-stop shop for makeup needs. The best-selling Face Flour baking powder is available in six different shades that offers a matte finish with without leaving you feeling dried out.
A surprisingly new Black-owned business is Black Opal. Although they have been at the forefront of black women's beauty products for over 25 years, they changed ownership in 2019 where Cheryl Mayberry McKissak and Desiree Rogers now serve as president and CEO. The brand continues to bring an inclusive range of completion products. Black Opal can be found at major stores such as Walmart and Ulta .
Juvia's Place
In 2016, Chichi Eburu launched Juvia’s Place after struggling to find makeup that best suited her deep skin tone. With varying color combinations, the eye shadow palette has the ability to be used for everyday makeup or a more formal affair. Eburu has expanded her brand and surpassed just eyeshadow palettes and has introduced full-face products such as foundations , bronzers and blush sets .
LYS Beauty keeps skincare at the forefront of its makeup products. Tisha Thompson has been able to cultivate formulas that identify and treat problem areas without giving up the beauty aspect of makeup. The Speak Love Matte Lipstick is made with chia seed oil which adds hydration, reduces fine lines and wrinkles while also plumping the lips.
Pat McGrath
Once called the “the most influential makeup artist in the world” by Anna Wintour , Pat McGrath is known worldwide for her constellation of makeup products. For a touch of sparkle, try the Mothership + Intesnsifeyes Duo —they're ideal for a night out—and are customizable—so switch out the colors you believe to suit your trip best. When you don't have much space to pack but need versatility, try the Liquilust Duo which includes a lighter and darker gloss shade.
Uoma Beauty
Nigerian–born Sharon Chuter got into the beauty business after noticing how few skin tones most products catered to. With Uoma, she created 51 shades of foundation categorized within six ‘Skin Kin’ groups, each with unique skincare ingredients for that group's needs. The Stay Woke concealer and Say What?! foundation are buildable and creamy—and the brand's online shade finder makes finding your exact match a breeze.
Range Beauty
Range Beauty’s motto is “clean beauty for the forgotten shades,” and the brand delivers—every product functions as both skincare and makeup for a range of complexions. There’s a bronzing primer that evens skin and plumps fine lines, and a foundation that targets acne and eczema. True to its name, the diversity of shades is impressive as well, with products made for olive complexions, tan skin with yellow undertones, and deeper, cooler brown complexions. The hydrating foundations , containing chamomile extracts and French clay, are travel-ready in tiny one-ounce containers.
TPH By Taraji
Founded by actress Taraji P. Henson, TPH by Taraji is known for its “scalp first approach” to hair care. For a soothing scalp treatment try Ultra Chill , made with aloe vera, biotin, and tea tree oil—it helps to calm an irritated scalp, especially after a day packed full of vacation excursions. In combination with the Ride or Die Leave In conditioner, you'll be met with a hydrating duo that fits into your carry-on .
Founder Nancy Twine grew up making homemade hair care products at her grandmother's kitchen table when she would visit West Virginia as a child. After moving to the Big Apple in her twenties, she felt that natural hair products stores had to offer didn’t live up to their catchy tag lines and promotions. With Briogeo , Twine aims to use the same rhetoric used for skincare products in the media for hair care products—emphasizing the need for natural ingredients that nourish, detoxify, and protect your follicles.
Pattern Beauty
Actress Tracee Ellis Ross's Pattern Beauty aims to empower your curl pattern. The natural hair care line focuses on embracing one’s natural texture and helps to build strong, unbreakable curls, coils, and confidence. In addition to wash and styling products such as hydrating shampoo and curl gel, the line also includes a wide range of tools such as a shower brush used to detangle and an edge tool to craft the perfect baby hairs.
Founded by Adria Marshall in 2015, hair care line Ecoslay started with homemade products for naturally curly hair. Now, despite 30 retailers across the world selling Marshall's products, little has changed regarding its quality, and every product is still handmade with ingredients like jojoba, almond, and Argan oils. If you’re a traveler who loves options, there are custom sample sets you can build and take with you on your next big trip. “If I were to pack one product in my suitcase it would be our Moonshine hair and body oil because it's so versatile,” Marshall says. “It can be used as a hair oil to ‘scrunch out the crunch,’ and is fantastic for dry heels and elbows. And it simply smells incredible.”
Black Travel Box
After traveling to many hotels and finding shampoos that didn't work for her hair, Denver, Colorado –based Orion Brown started Black Travel Box out of sheer frustration . Made with natural ingredients like coconut oil and rosemary leaf extract, these sulfate-free products are luxurious on a range of natural hair textures. The brand's $35 starter kit contains solid just-add-water bars of her popular rosemary mint shampoo and conditioner, and balms for your hair, body, and lips. The solid bars are highly efficient, too: each contains the equivalent of a 16-ounce bottle.
OrganiGrowHairCo
Designed by Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Kay Cola, OrganiGrowHairCo caters to natural textures and tight curl patterns, with all vegan products free of preservatives and fragrances. The GrowPoo shampoo soothes overworked hair, while the Conditioning Curling Custard delivers serious hydration.
Oyin Handmade
Yoruba for “honey,” Oyin was created in 2003 by Jamyla Bennu, who wanted organic hair care products that worked as well as the rest. “At the time, there were not many naturally sourced formulations in the ethnic hair aisles, and the products were almost exclusively dedicated to straightening, chemically relaxing, or texturizing,” Bennu says. She began making products in her kitchen, leading to current bestsellers like the ginger- and mint-flavored Co-Wash , a non-sudsy conditioner that invigorates the scalp. The leave-in Hair Dew brings pliancy to hair, and a good pick for thirsty strands is the What the Hemp deep moisture mask , which deeply moisturizes but feels light as air.

The 11 Best Mini-Sized Beauty Products, According to a Beauty Writer Who Travels All the Time
Byrdie / Amelia Manley
Minis are really cute; whether it’s a toy car, a baby animal, or a doll-sized kitchen set, miniature items have a way of melting my heart every time. My favorite category of all within the “mini” genre is probably a dead-giveaway: makeup. I’ve spent hours in those dangerous check-out lanes of Sephora where exclusively-made miniature skincare, makeup, brushes, and sponges have been placed (brilliantly) for customers awaiting check-out. On several occasions, I’ve gone in for literally only one item, and ended up leaving with dozens of others because of a long check-out line; I just kept finding more of my favorite products in travel sizes.
Because I travel a lot, I dedicate a good amount of time to strategically packing. I usually bring an entire pharmacy with me because I never know what to expect from a foreign country’s drugstores or local shopping, lest I forget something. There’s also nothing worse for me than re-purchasing something I know that I already have at home. If you’re like me and you belong to the COO club (carry-on only), you’ve had your fair share of experiences with an overstuffed bag. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve had to sit on my Rimowa luggage, praying it doesn’t crack, just so that I could zip it into something shaped like an Oreo cookie (the fabric space-expanders spilling out everywhere).
After finding out that many brands make miniature versions of their beloved products, I started researching to see what else was out there. Since switching exclusively to minis for travel , my bags have gotten a lot lighter.
With travel season upon us, I decided to round up all of the best mini products. So, whether you’re packing for your trip to Mallorca, you want to try something new with less cost commitment, or you just love how cute miniature makeup looks on your vanity, I’ve rounded up all the fan-favorites here.

Final Verdict
We're giving top honors to the Augustinus Bader The Cream . Its innovative formula is packed with natural amino acids, vitamins, and molecules to help regenerate your body's own stem cells. It's also packed with great hydrating ingredients like aloe leaf, avocado, shea butter, and more, so it certainly lives up to its claim of replacing every skin product you need after cleansing.
Looking to cover up while you're on the go? Try the Nars Mini Radiant Creamy Concealer . It's great for adding highlight, contour, or medium to full coverage concealing without dryness or creasing.
What to Look for in Travel Size Beauty Products
Packaging materials.
Whether you're just tossing it in your bag for touchups or traveling on a plane, you'll want to make sure the product you're buying is made of up durable materials. It shouldn't pop open or break and spill all over your bag.
Application
While minis are compact and easy to pack when you need to travel light, always consider the product's application. If you have to pack extra tools for it, then it takes up more space than its cute small size. If you aren't positive what more will be needed for products, reference all-in-one makeup kits to review what you need to accompany assorted products.
You might find yourself distracted by the shiniest and most exciting products, but don't forget to purchase and pack the everyday items you need, too. Whether your staples include brow gel, sunscreen, or lip gloss, you'll want to have a mini-version of the things you rely on the most, not just the fun extras.
When looking to travel by air, you'll need to adhere to the TSA rules for carry-on cosmetics. You're allowed to bring a total of one quart-sized clear, resealable bag filled with products. Inside this bag, each item needs to be 3.4 ounces or less.
Provided you will use up whatever is contained in your travel-size toiletries, they are worth it. That's because you were able to carry them on rather than pay extra for a checked bag, which costs more. You'll want to recycle them instead of putting them in the trash to reduce your carbon footprint.
Travel-size toiletries last about the same amount of time as their full-size counterparts; it's dependent on how long that specific product lasts. Mascara can get dried out and exposed to bacteria , and should be replaced every few months.
The TSA is pretty strict about traveling with liquids, and because of that, its rules about what counts as a liquid err on the, well, solid side. Aerosols, pastes, creams, and gels are all liquids, so makeup products like mascara, foundation, eyeline r , moisturizer, and perfume are all considered liquid.

Function of Beauty’s PRO Custom Haircare Line Completely Transformed My Routine
My hair keeps getting better.
Every item on this page was chosen by an ELLE editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy.
As a member of the wavy, unruly hair club, I’ve always envied folks blessed with naturally tamable locks (you know, those people who can run a few fingers through their wet hair, let it air dry, and still magically end up with silky strands). That was, until I found a way to fake being one of them.
I’ve tried many bonding treatments before, but Function of Beauty’s PRO line has quickly become one of my new favorites. On top of including tailored shampoos and masks for straight, wavy, and curly and coily hair types, it also offers nine add-in concentrates to enhance the effects of said products. What’s more, the brand launched a new leave-in bonding treatment earlier this year to promote even shinier, stronger locks. And lucky for you, I’ve tested almost all of these formulas.
The technology
Function of Beauty PRO Bond Repair Custom Shampoo for Wavy, Damaged Hair
Function of Beauty PRO Bond Repair Custom Conditioner Mask for Wavy, Damaged Hair
Function of Beauty PRO Bond Repair Custom Leave-In Treatment for Damaged Straight and Wavy Hair
Function of Beauty PRO The Moisture Shot Hydrating Hair Goal Concentrate
Function of Beauty PRO The Lift Legend Volumizing Hair Goal Concentrate
Function of Beauty PRO The Frizz Genius Anti Frizz Hair Goal Concentrate
In case you’re not already familiar, bonding treatments “are great for double process clients like blondes, those who use chemical styling treatments such as perms, or who have high heat damage from over-styling work to protect and restore the hydrogen, salt, and disulfide bonds of the hair to strengthen it from the inside out,” celebrity hairstylist Adam Maclay previously told ELLE.com. “It’s like filling in the potholes on the street; these products help to smooth split ends, restore moisture and shine, and make the hair more manageable.”
The Function of Beauty PRO line not only works to do just that but its patented Adaptive f3 Bonding Complex is uniquely designed to self-adjust to your level of damage for a more personalized solution. Apart from the latest leave-in treatment (more on that later), every product is also enriched with amino acids to further help strengthen hair, reduce breakage, and fight frizz.
And there’s clinical research backing them. According to trials conducted by the brand, you can expect hair to be two times smoother and experience two times less breakage after just five washes with the shampoo and mask.
Each customized formula also stars a range of natural ingredients made to address specific concerns associated with each hair type—from adding body and shine to supporting curl bounce. Additionally, all the formulas are dermatologist-tested, vegan, cruelty-free, and certified clean at Sephora—meaning they’re devoid of harsh chemicals like sulfates, phthalates, and parabens.
How I tested
As you might have guessed, I use the shampoo and mask for wavy, damaged hair. I only wash my hair once per week to help minimize dryness, so this mask is currently replacing any conditioner in my shower. I generously apply the mask from mid-lengths to ends, and per a hair stylist’s suggestion, lightly apply the formula to my baby hairs and the crown of my head, where I consistently experience breakage and frizz.
Over the course of a few months, I’ve added in The Moisture Shot , The Frizz Genius , and The Lift Legend concentrates to each product. (According to the brand, you can add up to three Hair Goal boosters to a single product). All you need to do is pour the entire contents of the booster(s) into the shampoo or mask, then shake it for approximately 15 seconds before applying.
Lastly, I finish with the new Leave-In Treatment for Damaged Straight and Wavy Hair . (Note: if you have curly or coily hair, there’s a version available for you, too). A hybrid serum-in-cream, this styling treatment features the highest concentration of the brand’s Bonding Complex—as well as hydrating babassu oil and strengthening amaranth extract —to help reverse damage, minimize frizz, boost radiance, and even offer heat protection up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. It can be used on wet or dry hair, and unlike many other similar products on the market, doesn’t require heat to be activated. Per the instructions, I typically apply a quarter-sized amount to damp hair, focusing on my ends but also applying any remnants to the aforementioned areas that could use it.
The results
There’s a reason I’ve continued to use the shampoo, mask, and boosters for months. These formulas are super nourishing yet lightweight, so they never weigh my hair down or make it look greasy (which is why the shampoo is one of my favorites for targeting dry scalp , too). And with the addition of the leave-in treatment to my lineup, my wave pattern has never looked better.
Having long hair means my waves get stretched out, and air drying them has always been a gamble: one week, they’ll dry nicely tousled, and yet, mysteriously, the next, they’ll end up in a frizzy, uneven bundle. But after implementing these products, I consistently experience fewer flyaways and great definition. In fact, I now often receive just as many compliments on my natural, beachy waves as I do on special occasions when I get a professional blowout.
The final verdict
I’m rarely impressed by new products these days, but Function of Beauty’s PRO line far exceeded my expectations. Not only have I found its formulas to be powerful (and great-smelling), but they’ve also made it easy for me to build an entire routine that’s uniquely suited to my needs. While wavy hair-specific products are still few and far between, I’ve finally found some great strengthening solutions that are really helping me embrace my texture.
Though these formulas aren’t the cheapest, they are generously sized (the 11-ounce shampoo clocks in at $24, while the 7-ounce conditioner is $28). And because, in my opinion, the quality is on par with that of luxury competitors, I’d say these products are definitely worth your dollar.
The bottom line: I’m a fan and would recommend these formulas to anyone who wants stronger, healthier hair quickly.

The Strategist Drugstore 100
One hundred carefully considered, fully vetted essentials..
Navigating the congested aisles of a CVS is a daunting exercise even for the most seasoned of shoppers. Should you get heavy-duty Band-Aids or regular? What’s the difference between the generic and name-brand pain reliever? Will any antacids actually effectively relieve indigestion? And which toilet paper won’t leave you clutching a handful of limp shreds?
Over the years, our writers and editors have surfaced hundreds upon hundreds of best-in-class drugstore items, including toe spacers that tackle bunions , a kit that tames unruly nose hairs , a doodad that takes the pain out of shots , and even an accordion plunger that will save you from embarrassment. But no run-of-the-mill Rite Aid or even high-end apothecary carries it all — which is why we decided to create our own drugstore at The Strategist.
Below, we’ve pieced together the inventory of our dream drugstore, featuring recommendations from doctors, dermatologists, dental hygienists, frequent travelers, authors, celebrities, and our own staff writers, among (many) others. (Of course, you should always consult your doctor before taking a new medication.) Some of the products are straight from the shelves of actual drugstores (like a pregnancy test or B.J. Novak’s favorite tub of Noxzema ), while others are ones we wish were on the shelves of actual drugstores (like reusable Swedish dishcloths ). Some are everyday items (like hydrating shampoo or itch-relieving moisturizer ). Others are more niche (like a solution to gently remove bandage adhesive and the throat lozenges Bernie Sanders relies on for campaign tours). And, importantly, most of these items cost about as much as any counterparts you might find at your local pharmacy (a few worth-it exceptions notwithstanding).
The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments , rolling luggage , pillows for side sleepers , natural anxiety remedies , and bath towels . We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.

Travel + Leisure / Madison Woiten
I’ve spent the better part of the past decade obsessed with all things beauty. Between learning the ins and outs of the biz from my older makeup artist sister and finding the right products for shoppers when I worked at Ulta Beauty , I’ve developed a real knack for finding the best beauty items, especially when it comes to travel.
Now as a travel writer who shops for a living, during major shopping events like Amazon’s Big Spring Sale , I keep my eyes peeled for the beauty markdowns to either stock up on my tried-and-true faves or try something new that other shoppers are loving. As such, I’ve curated a list of the 15 best Amazon Spring Sale deals on beauty, complete with anti-aging eye creams and SPF that’ll keep your skin protected and glowy . Prices start at just $7, so if you’re looking to upgrade your toiletry bag on a budget, keep scrolling because these savings disappear on Monday, March 25.
RoC Retinol Correxion Under Eye Cream
We all know how much travel — and the lack of routine sleep — can affect our skin, especially sensitive areas like our under-eyes. That’s why I always keep an under-eye cream packed in my carry-on to combat signs of puffiness and dark circles. I’m particularly eye ing this on-sale one from RoC that not only immediately relieves puffiness and discoloration, but is also made with long-term anti-aging properties to reduce fine lines and wrinkles over time. According to one shopper , who “spent years looking for the perfect eye cream,” this one “dramatically help[ed] with wrinkles and dark circles" after they tried nearly every cream on the market.
Tula The Cult Classic Purifying Cleanser Travel-Size
Flight attendants and myself swear by nearly every product from Tula, including this excellent cleanser. As a skincare lover, I’ve tried plenty of cleansers, but none have effectively cleaned or pulled out dirt, makeup, sunscreen, and other pore-clogging agents from my skin quite like this one. I’m using this sale to add the travel-size version to my toiletry bag, and if you haven’t tried this fantastic cleanser yet, let Amazon's Big Spring Sale be your opportunity to test it out and see the results for yourself.
Supergoop! Every. Single. Face. Water-based Sunscreen SPF 50
We’re approaching the warm-weather months, and if you haven’t already stocked up on SPF to protect yourself, consider this rare Supergoop deal your sign to snag this face sunscreen for your next trip. The brand is loved by Travel + Leisure editors for its effective formulas and better-for-you ingredients, and this water-based (and travel-friendly) version of its incredibly popular sunscreen is just what you need to prepare for the heat.
Mario Badescu Moisturizing Lip Balm
Long travel days call for something a bit more nourishing than your typical chapstick. That’s where this ultra-hydrating lip balm comes in. It's formulated with moisturizing oils that include coconut, shea, and almond oils, as well as tons of vitamins that truly melt into your skin for smooth lips that’ll stay juicy and hydrated on the driest of days.
Alleyoop Pen Pal 4-in-1 Touch Up
I’m a sucker for anything that’ll make my life easier, and this genius device holds a lip liner, eyeliner, brow pencil, and a highlighter all in a compact pen-like applicator. This not only helps me cut down on the items that I pack in my makeup pouch, but it's also great to stash in my purse for quick touch-ups. It also happens to be just $20 this week, so you already know that I’m stocking up.
Neutrogena Hyaluronic Hydrating Moisturizer
Neutrongena is the dermatologist-trusted brand to keep your skin looking and feeling great. My mom swears by this water-based moisturizer for its ultra-hydrating and nourishing feel that has made her buy it again and again for the better part of the past decade. It’s also formulated with hyaluronic acid to lock in extra moisture and plump up lines for dewy, supple complexion that feels instantly quenched.
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer
This top-rated concealer didn’t earn its Amazon best-seller status for no reason; it’s a concealer-eye cream duo that adds coverage while simultaneously blurring the look of fine lines and dark circles for a brighter, more refreshed look instantly. I’ve tried dozens of concealers on the market and whenever I want to go back to a tried-and-true formula, it’s always this concealer that punches well above its weight. If you haven't tried it yourself, I urge you to do so while it's just $7 this week.
Honest Beauty 2-in-1 Creme Blush + Lip Color
I’ve always been a fan of Honest Beauty because it’s hard to find makeup that is made with clean ingredients and actually works. I particularly love this two-in-one cream blush and lip duo that saves room in my toiletry bag and saves me time getting ready. Apply it with your fingers, a brush, or a makeup sponge and I promise that you’ll look perfectly flushed all day long. Snag it while it’s on sale starting at $14 for a limited time.
Neutrogena Nourishing Cleansing Balm
Between your skincare, makeup, and all of the oil and dirt that you collect throughout the day, sometimes you need a cleaner with a bit more oomph to give you a deeper clean after a long travel day. I recently added this travel-friendly cleansing balm into my travel routine, and it literally melts away makeup. As an added bonus, it's ultra-hydrating, so you don't have to worry about it stripping your skin. As a treat for me (and you), it happens to be just $9 this week.
CeraVe Hydrating Tinted Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30
I like to streamline my packing list as much as I can, and for that, I love keeping a tinted SPF; it gives me protection from the sun, while also giving my skin a bit of a glowiness and coverage thanks to its tinted formula. Oh, and even better, this sunscreen is formulated with both hydrating hyaluronic acid and brightening niacinamide, so you can leave your skincare at home because this all-in-one sunscreen has you covered.
L’ange Hair Stardust Dry Shampoo Powder
Dry shampoo is a travel must for me. Something about long travel days leaves my hair oilier than usual, and dry shampoo is the only thing that’ll keep me from defaulting my hair up for an entire trip. While I love a good spray option, they aren’t always the easiest items to get through TSA, so keeping a powder version on me is an easy, fuss-free option. I haven’t personally tried this specific powder, but I’m a fan of the brand's Split End Sealer and Leave-in Conditioner. And after reading a shopper review stating that this product is “perfect for travel” thanks to its carry-on-friendly container and formula that "absorbs quite a lot of oil, but manages to not make hair feel sticky or more easily tangled," I was sold.
Peace Out Skincare Acne Dots Day and Night
I have acne-prone skin, so any time that I stray away from my routine, my skin breaks out. I never let that stop me from enjoying my trip, so I personally love this on-sale set of day and night acne patches to fend off unwanted blemishes. The daytime patches are designed with a sheer, invisible-like material that actually looks invisible underneath makeup, while the night ones are formulated with salicylic acid to combat pimples and fight pimples overnight.
Grown Alchemist Amenity Kit
I've been a huge lover of Grown Alchemist ever since I used its Body Cleanser and Cream at the Mandarin Oriental in Madrid. Now, I’m happy to bring that same opulence to my everyday routine with this travel kit that includes an ultra-hydrating lip balm, hand lotion, and moisturizer. You deserve nice things in life, so if I were you, I’d snag this trio while it's on sale for $32 during Amazon’s Big Spring Sale — just make sure to clip the on-site coupon to unlock the savings.
L’Oreal Paris Radiance Booster Makeup Primer
If you want your makeup to last, then you need to be incorporating a primer into your routine. This particular primer is not only on sale for just $7, but it has over 1,300 perfect ratings from shoppers, who have dubbed it “ the perfect primer ” and raved that “it's lightweight, doesn't have a heavy scent, has just enough glow, and goes great alone or with foundation on top.” That’s because it's formulated with nourishing oils and other skin-friendly ingredients to not only make your makeup go the distance, but instantly brighten your face in the process.
Laura Geller Balance-n-Brighten Color Correcting Foundation
From its barely-there, buildable finish and demi-matte formula, I love everything about this color-correcting powder foundation. I’ll admit, travel makes my skin much oiler than normal, and this easy-to-apply compact foundation has saved my skin time and time again with just a quick application. While I personally love applying it with a brush, it also comes with a convenient powder puff for days when I’m on the go. I can’t recommend it enough, and it also happens to be on special sale starting at $17 today.

Rostov the Great, Russia
You are here
Why visit rostov the great.
Founded in 862, fabulous Rostov the Great or Rostov Veliky (do not confuse it with Rostov-on-Don) is situated on the sparkling Lake Nero's shores and is known as a tourist center of the famous Golden Ring itinerary . The scenic town with more than a thousand years of history boasts a huge number of cultural monuments. Some of them are considered to be especially valuable cultural heritage sites.
Rostov has dozens of amazing sites. The most significant must-see on your Rostov tour is definitely the Rostov Kremlin , placed in the historic town center. The Kremlin was originally built not as a fortress but as a residence of the local church leader. The Yaroslavo-Rostovsky Museum is a treasure trove of Russian icon art, while the other Rostov churches hold many of their own beautiful frescoes.
Attractions of Rostov Veliky
Another outstanding landmark worth seeing during your Rostov travel is Abraham monastery . Founded in the 11th century, it has the honorary title of one of Russia's oldest monasteries.
The Borisoglebsky Monastery sits 18 km from Rostov. The monastery was founded in the 14th century by two monks who supported St. Sergiy. It is believed that St. Sergiy himself selected the location for the monastery. It was often visited by Russian princes and tsars, including Ivan the Terrible, who came to the monastery three times and made more than twenty donations. In 1994, the Borisoglebsky Monastery witnessed a revival after the dark Soviet times. Nowadays, it is a male monastery and a branch of the "Rostov Kremlin" museum sanctuary.
If you decide to switch from historical highlights to picturesque nature views, consider visiting the Rostov City Park located in a natural beauty spot on Lake Nero's shore. Spectacular city festivals are organized annually on the park boardwalk and delight the visitors with fantastic parades, theatrical plays, reconstruction battles, and other breathtaking events. All these will certainly turn your Rostov journey into an exciting adventure.

The 14 Best Acne Light Therapy Devices to Zap Stubborn Breakouts
Add one of these expert picks to your skin routine
Every product on this page was chosen by a Harper's BAZAAR editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy.
Think of acne devices as the supporting cast in your treatment plan next to topicals. While the best acne light therapy devices are powerful enough to clear up breakouts, board-certified dermatologist Mamina Turegano tells Bazaar that in the derm world, LED devices are considered to be lower on the treatment scale, but can still be effective when paired with an expert-approved acne skincare routine. " Topical and prescription treatments are first recommended. A good foundational skincare regimen is important, followed by evidence-based tried and true medications, whether over-the-counter or prescription." Turegano notes that light tools can also serve as an alternative treatment for those who cannot tolerate or don’t respond well to conventional therapy like prescription topicals.

So how exactly does a light work clear skin? "LED blue light, targets the acne-causing bacteria cutibacterium acnes. The bacterium C. acnes produces porphyrins. These proteins absorb light energy in the spectrum of blue light. This leads to a chemical reaction that essentially destroys the bacteria," she explains. It's always best to chat with a dermatologist before starting a new skincare treatment. The efficacy of an acne light therapy device depends heavily on the type of acne you're looking to treat. "With mild acne, LED skincare can even be superior to many topical regimens, especially for those with sensitive skin who get easily irritated by standard medicines," Ellen Marmur , board-certified dermatologist, and founder of MMSkincare says. "For severe acne, LED tools and devices are additive to the skincare routine rather than a replacement," she adds. Once you're ready to try one of the best acne light therapy devices, look to one of the following expert-recommended options below.
This handy LED light nicely fits in your bag and combines red and blue lights for a zit-zapping effect that works in three minutes. And did we mention it's completely painless?
One satisfied customer writes: "Awesome product!! I love how slim and portable this is. Works great for the deep acne. This kills the bacteria growing inside and allows your body to heal it without it having to erupt! Easy to use and doesn't dry my skin out." — Gloria
The small but mighty SolaWave Bye Acne Spot packs enough power to treat a pimple in three minutes flat— we've tested it first-hand . It combines red and blue light treatments to clear pores while calming skin at the same time.
One satisfied customer writes: "I love how compact this product is it makes it really easy for me to travel with it and use it on the go. The packaging is great quality is amazing and I’ve noticed that it helps minimize blemishes after just a few uses." — Jess
For breakouts that cover more than just a spot but not your entire face, try this Acne Light Shot from Face Gym. It comes with 60 medical-grade adhesive strips that'll stay put while treating and goggles to protect your eyes from any light sensitivity.
One satisfied customer writes: "This has been the only thing that has helped clear up my cheek acne. I also use retinol and low percentage benzoyl peroxide, but adding this has made a huge difference. " — Christiebelle
Foreo's handy Espada 2 Plus tool is perfect made for more targeted treatments. The tapered tip directs the light right to a specific blemish or spot where recurring pimples pop up to kill bacteria beneath the skin's surface. The device also features ultrasonic vibration to stimulate cell turnover and get rid of scarring.
One satisfied customer writes: "The precise light guide itself is quite small (you get exactly what you see in the pictures), hence making it a perfect device to treat small, curved, and hard-to-reach areas like around the nose, or right below the eyebrow." — Emily E.
Turegano recommends this eight-in-one device—one that Bazaar editors also love —which has detachable treatment heads to clear away pimples. It also helps bring down inflammation, firm less than taut skin with its built-in microcurrent , and provides a nice facial massage at the same time.
This pick from Dr. Dennis Gross may look intense, but it's probably the closest to a professional facial that you'll get at home. The mask features 62 blue LED lights to treat and prevent acne-causing bacteria and 100 red LED lights to help minimize acne scarring and boost collagen production. You can treat skin with each light shade individually or at the same time.
One satisfied customer writes: "Not only is this device user-friendly with its hands-free design and adjustable strap, but the impact on my skin has been remarkable. The combination of red and blue lights proved to be a dynamic duo in combating both wrinkles and acne. Surprisingly, within days, I noticed a visible reduction in new acne development, and over the course of two weeks, my mild hyperpigmentation from previous breakouts is beginning to fade." —Victoria B.
Consider this the LED version of your favorite hydrocolloid pimple patch . The device comes with sticky patches that help it adhere to skin. Each treatment is six minutes long and emits blue and red light to kill bacteria and bring down inflammation. Plus, it has a rechargeable battery and a storage case to keep it clean.
One satisfied customer writes: "The results are noticeable immediately after one use. I have hormonal acne and this product has been my saver! It’s very easy to use, and you don’t have to stop what you’re doing because it’s hands-free. Love it!" — Malena
Designed with a combo of 36 blue and red LEDs, Lightstim for Acne is best used to treat mild to moderate breakouts. The tool is also ideal for keeping your skin in the clear to prevent new acne from forming.
One satisfied customer writes: "Since the start of the pandemic, I've been getting really bad hormonal breakouts along my chin. I'm in my late 20's and never suffered acne like this before. It's been deep cystic pimples that would leave behind bad scarring. I've tried a few different products, and the LightStim has so far been the best." — LAinLALA
Lab's single blemish LED works similarly to other options on this list, except this one is under $20 and works for 30 treatments before needing to be replaced.
One satisfied customer writes: "It's pretty great, and a single box lasts a long time. Used this on Friday, and woke up Saturday with clearer skin. I was skeptical, but the results were real!" —Alex
While several other tools on this list integrate both blue and red LEDs into one head, this option from Spa Sciences has separate treatment heads, each with a larger surface area than most devices for a more concentrated treatment of either acne or the post-acne scarring that can come with it.
One satisfied customer writes: "I have been using this for a little over 2 months and my favorite part is the reduction of inflammation from the breakouts I have had. It definitely seems to reduce the redness and speed healing time!" —Sandra
MM Skincare MMSphere 2Go
Marmur created this multi-purpose device to treat a range of skin concerns, including acne. The device features a full range of light wavelengths with different colors (blue, red, green, purple, and amber) to improve acne, prevent breakouts, and reduce redness and acne scars. It's also portable so you can treat skin even while traveling.
One satisfied customer writes: "I had a friend today tell me my skin looked the best he'd seen it in ten years. After 6 weeks of using the Sphere, I'm never going to stop. Combined with the MMRepose serum I've found my scarring reduced, my skin consistently clearer and feeling more taut and bouncy. " — Duncan M.
Revive Light Therapy Glō Portable LED Light Therapy Device
In addition to bacteria-killing blue light, Revive's Glō device also featured infrared shades of deep red, red, and amber lights for more thorough inflammation reduction. Plus, the size of the tools makes for easy treatments while traveling.
One satisfied customer writes: "This is my new favorite skincare tool! I have used it every day for the past few weeks and I have noticed less acne and a reduction in my fine lines. I love that I can easily use this while I am working at my computer, and take this with me when I travel." —Deborah P.
PMD Clean Acne
PMD's Clean Acne device not only checks the cute box, but it fills the space of two tools in one. The silicone brush side uses sonic vibration to clear away grime and bacteria, and when flipped, the blue LED does the deep pore purging.
One satisfied customer writes: "I use it every night to clean my face and then use the blue light on my problem areas. Finally, I’m getting my healthy, clear, glowing skin back!" —Alina

When in my routine should I use one of the best acne light devices?
Marmur notes that best time to use an acne light device is after cleansing your face as "debris and dry skin cells can block the light energy." Acne light therapy devices work on most types of acne, but won't do much for blackheads , whiteheads, or deep cystic pimples, Turegano cautions—so stick to topical treatments and oral medication for those. And before your session, the derm says to avoid using products that exfoliate or cause increased skin cell turnover, like exfoliating acids or retinoids , as they may make your skin more sensitive.
