UOB PRVI Miles offering up to 8 mpd on flight, hotel and travel spend

UOB has launched a new promotion over the next 11 weeks, offering its PRVI Miles cardholders an enhanced earn rate of up to 8 miles per S$1 spent on hotels, flight bookings and travel transactions with major airlines, hotels, Agoda, Expedia and UOB Travel between now and 30th November 2023.

This is in the form of a 2 mpd enhancement on the regular year-round earn rates for these transactions, and could come in handy if you’re making travel plans for later in the year, or even into 2024.

UOB PRVI Miles 2 mpd bonus on travel spend

Here’s how UOB presents this latest offer for its PRVI Miles cardholders.

To unlock the bonus miles you’ll need to spend at least S$2,000 in travel transactions, in local or foreign currency, during the promotion period between 18th September 2023 and 30th November 2023.

The enhanced earn rate including the 2 mpd bonus in each category is then capped at S$4,000 spend during this promotion, after which any subsequent eligible spend reverts back to the year-round uncapped rates of 1.4 mpd, 2.4 mpd or 6 mpd, as shown above.

If you can maximise the offer, that means earning an additional 8,000 miles (i.e. 2 mpd bonus x S$4,000).

Spend made by supplementary cardholders will be combined with that of the principal cardholder for the purposes of this offer.

Registration is required

The bonus earn rate is not automatic – you must successfully register to participate in this promotion. That requires principal cardholders to send an SMS to 77862 using their mobile number registered with UOB, in the following format:

All cardholders are eligible for this promotion, with no upper participant cap.

You must register within the promotion period (i.e. before 30th November 2023), but not necessarily before your first eligible transaction.

How it works

To benefit from the bonus 2 mpd earn rate, you’ll have to make at least S$2,000 spend across the following eligible categories between 18th September 2023 and 30th November 2023 :

• Online or in-person transactions made at major airlines, lodging (including hotels), online travel agencies and/or regular travel agencies with their main business activity classified as airlines, lodging or travel services
• Online travel bookings made at expedia.com.sg/prvimiles
• Online travel bookings made at agoda.com/prvimiles
• Online travel bookings made at prvi.uobtravel.com

Full terms and conditions for the offer are available here , but let’s have a look at the three methods that get you that top 8 mpd rate during the promotion in more detail.

Expedia deal

To benefit from the enhanced earn rate of 8 mpd at Expedia using your UOB PRVI Miles card, you’ll have to book through the dedicated microsite at expedia.com.sg/prvimiles .

Don’t forget, a minimum spend of S$2,000 across all the categories listed above is required to unlock the enhanced earn rate.

Bookings can be made for any future travel date, but must be charged to your UOB PRVI Miles card between 18th September 2023 and 30th November 2023 .

Eligible hotel bookings are those where you make payment to Expedia at the time of booking ( not applicable if you choose a rate to pay later at the hotel).

Eligible flight bookings are those made with one of the following airlines:

• Cambodia Airways
• China Eastern Airlines
• Garuda Indonesia
• Hawaiian Airlines
• Myanmar International Airways
• Qatar Airways
• Sichuan Airlines
• Srilankan Airlines
• Thai Airways
• Turkish Airlines
• Xiamen Airlines

Obviously some popular carriers including Singapore Airlines are missing from the list, but there are still potentially some useful options including Korean Air, Thai Airways, Turkish Airlines and Qatar Airways.

Remember you can still benefit from 3.4 mpd (SGD) or 4.4 mpd (non-SGD) when booking Singapore Airlines tickets (or those with other airlines not listed above) directly with your UOB PRVI Miles card under this offer, without using Expedia.

Qatar Airways in particular has guaranteed its fantastic Qsuite product on all Singapore flights through to at least March 2024 – definitely one to try out if you haven’t already.

Package bookings comprising an eligible hotel and an eligible flight, as defined individually above, booked in a single transaction on the dedicated microsite, will also be eligible.

It probably goes without saying, but your booking(s) must be charged to your UOB PRVI Miles card for the bonus miles to apply – use of the microsite with payment by any other card will not count!

To benefit from the enhanced earn rate of 8 mpd at Agoda using your UOB PRVI Miles card, you’ll have to book through the dedicated microsite at agoda.com/prvimiles .

You must make a booking for hotels that have the “Earn up to 6 miles per 1 SGD spend” banner on the property room type results page, in order for your stay to be eligible for the bonus earn rate.

Payment must be made with your UOB PRVI Miles Card with Agoda being the party receiving and handling the payment ( prepaid room types only). The offer is not valid for pay at hotel rates.

UOB Travel deal

To benefit from the enhanced earn rate of 8 mpd at Agoda using your UOB PRVI Miles card, you’ll have to book through the dedicated microsite at prvi.uobtravel.com .

Eligible hotel bookings are those where you make payment directly to UOB Travel.

Eligible flight bookings are those made with one of the following airlines, for travel originating in Singapore :

• American Airlines
• Asiana Airlines
• British Airways
• Cathay Pacific
• China Airlines
• China Southern Airlines
• Japan Airlines
• KLM Royal Dutch Airlines
• Starlux Airlines
• United Airlines

Once again Singapore Airlines is an annoying omission (3.4 mpd or 4.4 mpd is still available with a direct booking), but in addition to the Expedia list there’s the option here for 8 mpd with the likes of British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Etihad and Starlux.

When do the bonus miles credit?

Initially your transactions will earn at the basic rate of 1.4 mpd, 2.4 mpd or 6 mpd, based on the year-round rate for these spend categories.

The additional bonus 2 mpd element will be credited by 5th January 2024 .

Miles are awarded as UNI$, which convert 1:2 into the KrisFlyer and Asia Miles programmes, but are only awarded per S$5 of eligible spend.

If you’re making travel plans for the rest of this year or for 2024 and can lock in your bookings between now and 30th November 2023, it’s worth considering this UOB PRVI Miles option for an additional 2 mpd on most eligible spend in this category.

At the top end, this will net you 8 mpd via Expedia, Agoda or UOB Travel, if your flight, hotel or package fall into the eligible categories, but 3.4 mpd or 4.4 mpd are also available across a wider range of travel spend, including directly-booked Singapore Airlines tickets.

Remember that with Expedia and UOB Travel flights must be operated by an airline on the eligible list for 8 mpd, and most importantly a minimum S$2,000 spend across eligible categories applies to trigger the +2 mpd bonus.

Also, only cumulative bookings of up to S$4,000 made during the promotion will benefit – additional spend after that is back to the usual year-round rates, so don’t go too mad!

UOB PRVI Miles offering up to 8 mpd on airline, hotel and travel agent bookings

From now till 30 November 2023, register and earn up to 8 mpd on travel spending with your UOB PRVI Miles Card, with a minimum spend of S$2,000.

UOB has launched a new promotion for the UOB PRVI Miles Cards, which offers up to 8 mpd on airline, hotel and travel agent bookings made from now till 30 November 2023,  as shown in the table below.

While payment must be made during the promotion period, travel can be for any dates in the future, so this is worth considering even if you’re looking ahead to 2024.

In addition to this bonus, UOB is also offering 100,000 miles to the top 10 UOB PRVI Miles Card spenders during this period.

UOB PRVI Miles Travel Spend campaign

The UOB PRVI Miles Travel Spend campaign runs from 18 September to 30 November 2023. 

Cardholders must register by sending the following SMS to 77862:

The campaign is open to all three versions of the UOB PRVI Miles Card (AMEX, Mastercard, Visa), with no cap on the number of eligible participants.

Once registered, cardholders must spend a minimum of S$2,000 across the following eligible categories during the promotion period (collectively defined as “Travel Transactions”):

Transactions can be either online or offline , in SGD or foreign currencies.

Cardholders who meet this minimum spend will earn an extra 2 mpd on local & overseas Travel Transactions, as well as bookings made at UOB’s dedicated Agoda , Expedia and UOB Travel pages.

The maximum bonus miles is capped at S$4,000 worth of spend (i.e. 8,000 miles) for the entire promotion period. Any spend beyond S$4,000 will earn the usual year-round rates of 1.4-6 mpd.

While this is not explicitly addressed in the T&Cs, based on previous promotions the caps have applied on a card-level basis . In other words, those who hold more than one UOB PRVI Miles Card can enjoy the offer once per card.

UOB x Agoda

During the promotion period, UOB PRVI Miles Cardholders will earn 8 mpd on hotel bookings with Agoda (instead of the usual 6 mpd), when they book via the special UOB x Agoda landing page.

Make sure to look for rates with the tag “Earn up to 6 miles per 1 SGD spend” (and don’t worry, the 2 mpd will be automatically added later).

All payments must be made on the Agoda website at the time of booking. You will not earn the bonuses if you opt to pay at the hotel.

UOB x Expedia

During the promotion period, UOB PRVI Miles Cardholders will earn 8 mpd on eligible airline and hotel bookings with Expedia (instead of the usual 6 mpd), when they book via the special UOB x Expedia landing page.

Eligible airlines refer to the following carriers:

Eligible hotels refer to bookings where payment is made to Expedia at the time of booking. If you choose to pay later at the hotel, you will not earn the bonus miles.

During the promotion period, UOB PRVI Miles Cardholders will earn 8 mpd on eligible airline and hotel bookings with UOB Travel (instead of the usual 6 mpd), when they book via the dedicated landing page.

Eligible airlines refer to the following carriers (with travel originating in Singapore):

Eligible hotels refer to bookings where payment is made to UOB Travel at the time of booking. If you choose to pay later at the hotel, you will not earn the bonus miles.

Potential points of confusion

You may have noticed that popular options like Singapore Airlines and Scoot are not listed under the eligible airlines for either Expedia or UOB Travel.

However, you will still be able to earn 3.4-4.4 mpd on such bookings under the “local Travel Transactions” or “overseas Travel Transactions” category, depending on whether your spend is in local or foreign currency.

For carriers that are listed among the eligible airlines, where you book matters:

• If I book an EVA Air flight via EVA Air’s official website, I will earn 3.4-4.4 mpd (depending on currency)
• If I book an EVA Air flight via the UOB x Expedia/ UOB Travel page, I will earn 8 mpd

Likewise, for Agoda and Expedia bookings:

• If I book a hotel on the generic Agoda/Expedia page, I will earn 3.4-4.4 mpd (depending on currency)
• If I book a hotel on the UOB x Agoda/Expedia page, I will earn 8 mpd

You should compare the prices across websites and ensure you’re not paying over the odds for the bonus miles.

In general, air tickets for identical fare classes should price more or less the same, whether you look at the official website or the dedicated UOB PRVI Miles pages. 

However, hotel pricing can vary drastically, and the dedicated UOB PRVI Miles pages will almost certainly yield prices higher than the public Agoda/Expedia pages. It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad deal, but always ensure that the price differential justifies the miles!

When will bonus miles be credited?

Transactions will initially earn the usual rate of 1.4/2.4/6 mpd, based on the year-round earn rate.

The bonus 2 mpd will be credited by 5 January 2024.

Top spender promotion

From now till 30 November 2023 , the 10 cardholders who charge the highest amount of eligible transactions to their UOB PRVI Miles Card will receive an extra 100,000 miles , in the form of UNI$50,000.

In this case, eligible transactions refer to all local and foreign credit card retail transactions (i.e. not just Travel Transactions), excluding UOB’s standard exclusions list like education and insurance payments.

Bonus miles for winners will be credited by 5 January 2024. 

From now till 30 November 2023, UOB PRVI Miles Cardholders can earn up to 8 mpd on airline, hotel or travel agency bookings, capped at S$4,000. 

Remember: there’s no need to travel during this period. Your travel dates can be any time in the future, so if you’re looking to lock in some plans for 2024 then this would work too.

Don’t forget to register and clock the minimum spend of S$2,000 to be eligible, and note the specific airlines eligible for the highest 8 mpd earn rate.

NV obtains new photos and videos of the elimination of traitorous ex-MP Ilya Kyva near Moscow

Photos and videos of the elimination of pro-Russian ex-MP Ilya Kyva in a Moscow suburb were obtained by NV from sources in Ukraine’s SBU Security Service on Dec. 11.

This special operation was meticulously planned and successfully executed, the SBU informant confirmed.

In one imgae, Kyva's lifeless body can be seen in the snow surrounded by bloodstains. The location where “deserved punishment awaited the traitor” is near the place that Kyva filmed many anti-Ukrainian videos, sources say.

Kyva was a high-priority target, SBU said. His daily routines, movements, and habits were extensively studied in the operation. Despite strong security, the SBU managed to eliminate him just outside Moscow.

“This [Kyva’s elimination] serves as a signal to all traitors and military criminals who have sided with the enemy. Remember: Russia will not protect you. Death is the only prospect awaiting enemies of Ukraine,” SBU Chief Vasyl Malyuk said.

Ukraine’s SBU eliminated Kyva in a special operation in Moscow Oblast on Dec. 6, said NV sources in the intelligence service.

Kyva's “bloodied body”, discovered with a shot through the head, was found in the park of an elite club hotel in the Moscow region on Dec.6, Russian propaganda Telegram channels reported.

Kyva was shot with an unidentified firearm and died from the injuries on the scene, the Russian Investigative Committee claimed.

Kyva had fled to Spain ahead of Russia’s full-scale invasion. He then appeared in Russian propaganda broadcasts in Moscow, actively spreading lies about Ukraine. Kyva also sought “political asylum” and citizenship from the enemy aggressor.

The Ukrainian parliament stripped Kyva of his MP status in March 2022, charging him with treason. He was additionally charged with publicly calling for a violent change in the constitutional order and propaganda on behalf of the aggressor state in Aug. 2023.

Touring the Top 10 Moscow Metro Stations

Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.

Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.

The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

Moscow subways are very clean

To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow.   Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.

The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:

1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station  is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.

2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

3. Arbatskaya Metro Station served as a shelter during the Soviet-era. It is one of the largest and the deepest metro stations in Moscow.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

5. Kievskaya Metro Station was one of the first to be completed in Moscow. Named after the capital city of Ukraine by Kiev-born, Nikita Khruschev, Stalin's successor.

6. Novoslobodskaya Metro Station  was built in 1952. It has 32 stained glass murals with brass borders.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.

8. Mayakovskaya Metro Station built in 1938. It was named after Russian poet Vladmir Mayakovsky. This is one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world with 34 mosaics painted by Alexander Deyneka.

9. Belorusskaya Metro Station is named after the people of Belarus. In the picture below, there are statues of 3 members of the Partisan Resistance in Belarus during World War II. The statues were sculpted by Sergei Orlov, S. Rabinovich and I. Slonim.

10. Teatralnaya Metro Station (Theatre Metro Station) is located near the Bolshoi Theatre.

An excellent read! Thanks for much for sharing the Russian metro system with us. We're heading to Moscow in April and exploring the metro stations were on our list and after reading your post, I'm even more excited to go visit them. Thanks again 🙂
