Prayer for God's Protection ~ Psalm 91

My Refuge and My Fortress -  He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. A Prayer for Families Traveling with Kids

Dear Lord, I pray for our upcoming trip with the kids. I ask that you will guard their bodies so that no sickness will occur while we are gone. I pray that they will be in good spirits and will cause very little distraction on the way to our destination. Help me to discern when their needs during this trip and help us to have a wonderful time, praising You in all things. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Prayer for a Friend Before Traveling

O God, you always bestow your mercy on those who love you, and are near those who serve you. Direct the way of your servant in your will. Protect and guide them, that they may walk without stumbling in the paths of righteousness, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

10 Prayers for New Life and New Beginnings this Spring

Spring has a special place in my heart. There is so much to be seen and heard in this season of Spring. If we quiet ourselves before the Lord, and if we ask Him to open our eyes and our ears, He will teach us and show us things in this season that will give us fresh revelation from heaven. If we look and listen, the Lord will show us what He is doing in the earth today. Here are 10 prayers for new life and new beginnings this Spring:

Pray for Renewal and Fresh Beginnings

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” ( Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV)

Father, thank you for a fresh start today. Thank you for the reminder of “renewal” that spring represents to us in the earth. You “spring forth” a new thing! I am excited and expectant of your goodness in this spring season. Thank you, Father! Prepare me for all the new and wonderful things you have for my life. Help me to let go of the old things that hold me back, the things that do not bring me life, the things that keep me living in the past. I will cling to my new identity in Christ! Help me to keep “springing forward” in my journey with you!  

Pray for New Revelation of His Truth

“Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.”  ( Psalm 85:11 KJV)

Spring is an expression of Almighty God speaking through His magnificent creation. There is revelation of truth all around us.

God, I pray for an illumination of your truth in this season. May the truth of your Word become real to me in my life. I pray for revelation from heaven. Help me to absorb your Word in such a way that it grows up from within me – growing and growing so that it flows from out of me and into my life, my family, my church, and into the earth.

Lord, I thank you for calling me, for wooing me and drawing me nearer to you in the Secret Place. It is in the Secret Place that you awaken me. You bring me into a new day of destiny as you call me to a higher place. Lead me into my purpose and destiny. Lord, you are always there, always encouraging me, always speaking life over me, always speaking your truth over me. Teach me about who I am created to be, Father. Draw me closely into your heart, that I may know your will for my life.

Pray for New Growth and Flourishing

Father, I thank you for the “March winds and April showers that bring May flowers.” Father, You know what is necessary to prepare me for what You have in store for my life. Help me to receive what You have for me. Prepare me as You prepare the seeds. Grow me strong, nourish and protect me with Your truth so that I can break through the dirt, sprouting into a healthy “flower” that radiates Your glory in the earth.

Pray to Grow in Strength and Hope

“For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before all the nations.”  ( Isaiah 61:11 ESV)

God, I praise You! Your seeds of righteousness and praise have been planted in the earth. May I be like a “sprout” in your garden, sprouting up in hope, as I grow in you. Fortify me with the strength as I “burst forth” into who I have been created to be in you. I will praise and honor you, God! May my life bring you glory!

Thank you for all of the reminders you give us in this spring season. You have set eternity in our hearts. You lead me into transformation, growing me into who you have created me to be, even before the foundations of the earth. I will place my hope in you, for your Word is true. You have promised to complete what you have started in me, Lord! I cannot even imagine all the wonderful things you have in store for me! I trust you, Father.

Prayer of Blessing as a Child of God

“The  Lord  your God is with you; his power gives you victory. The Lord will take delight in you, and in his love he will give you new life. He will sing and be joyful over you,”  ( Zephaniah 3:17 GNB)

Father, thank you for reminding me that you take delight in me. I am loved and cherished. Your Word says that you give me new life. You sing joyful words of life over me! I am blessed to be your child. Thank you for loving me with the kind of love that frees me and brings me to life.

5 Hopeful Prayers for New Beginnings in Your Life

Prayers for new beginnings in life can remind us of the love, mercy, and forgiveness of God. Whether we have fallen to our knees in desperation, with tear-stained faces, and are asking Him for forgiveness and another opportunity to make the right choices or we are praying for guidance in life, God is listening. He hears every prayer. We can go to Him at any time of the day or night. Sharing our heartfelt prayers is one way to draw closer to God. His mercies are new every day. In Scripture, God shares how His love is never failing. When we stray, He will search for us. ( Luke 15:4 ) What comfort to know we are never left alone. He is with us always. God gives us the ability to have new beginnings in each moment. Hope is found in Him. Find comfort in these prayers for new beginnings in life.

What Does the Bible Say about New Beginnings?

Scripture tells us that new beginnings are possible, with God’s help ( 2 Corinthians 5:17 ). When we give our lives to Christ, the old is gone and a new creation is formed. A new path is available for us. We do not have to rely on our human ability ( Zephaniah 3:17 ). Trust and hope is found in Him. We will have failures and not always make the best decisions, yet with God, a new life will begin. Each time we fail, there is hope and comfort found in going to God and praying for a new beginning .

Why Are New Beginnings Important for Christians?

Prayer for a new start.

Father, thank You for the opportunity to have a new start. Too many times, I have strayed from my relationship with You. In times of distress and worry, I chose to try and handle things on my own. Moments of frustration, anger, and sadness have flooded my body. In those conflicting times, I chose to stay away from You. I neglected to seek Your help. Father, forgive me. You are the way, the truth, and the light. I ask You once again to guide me on the path to a new start in life. Please cover me with Your love, protection, and mercy. Please allow me to show Your love to others as I begin a new day. Thank You, Father, for Your love and forgiveness. Thank You for searching and finding me again. ( Deuteronomy 31:8 ) Thank You for never leaving me alone. In Your Name, Amen.

Prayer for New Life in Christ

Father, you have shown me that my old life is gone and my new life is found with You. I am thankful not to dwell on my past mistakes and relive those awful times. I am thankful to follow You and the path You have created for me. My soul thirsts for You and now, with my new life, I am filled with Your Holy Presence. ( Ezekiel 36:26 ) Thank You, God. I pray I will share the good news of a new life in Christ with everyone. Thank You, Father, for the people you have placed in my life that never gave up on me. Thank You, Father, for family, friends, and strangers who showed me Your love through their words and actions. I pray I will be more like those mentors You have provided. Prayer for a New Life Journey

Prayer for endings and new beginnings.

( Psalm 33:18-22 ) Lord, I’m on my knees again. Lord, I need You. A new year has dawned , and I want to be filled with the hope only You can provide. Last year was consumed with stress, worry, and fear. Even as I went to You in daily prayer , my thoughts would often lead to begging You to fix everything in the way I wanted. I prayed for the health and happiness of family, friends, and strangers. I know You are in control of the world and I need only to trust in You. In the past, I have considered the first day of the year to be a time for renewal, only to fall short of my goals within hours. Father, today, I am asking for Your help. I ask for You to help me put the past behind me and to move forward seeking to share Your love with others. I pray that in these coming days there will be new beginnings for everyone. I pray we all will seek a closer walk with You. In Your Holy Name, Amen.

Prayer for Thanking God for New Beginnings

Father, thank You. Thank You for the new beginnings You provide in every moment. My body is filled with praise and thanksgiving for the love, mercy, grace, and forgiveness You give. Even when I fail, You are there waiting to pick me up and guide me back on the path You have ready for me. You have placed wonderful people in my life to help me follow You. Thank You for those special people. I will praise You in the storms and I will praise You in the joys. ( Philippians 4:4 ) Thank You, God, for new beginnings. Amen.

4 Prayers for Safe Travels and Journeys

As we have the ability to move from place to place easily by car, plane or train for business or pleasure, we may think traveling is a modern-day phenomenon. However, a closer look at Scripture shows us that travel and journeys are major themes in the Bible. Throughout both the Old and News Testaments, individuals such as Abram, Jesus and Paul, for example, regularly traveled.

We can learn much from Scripture for our journeying, whether for pleasure or purpose. In particular, the theme of travel and journeys can be applied to our spiritual lives as the Bible has much to say about our spiritual journeying.

Use the prayers below for your physical journeys, but also for the spiritual journeys of yourself and others.

Preparation for the Journey

The Hebrew verb nasa can mean to set out on the beginning of a journey. The verb is used primarily in this way in the Pentateuch , the first five books of the Bible. It refers to the journey of the Israelites — the start of their journey from Egypt, and the different stages of the journey when the pillar of cloud or fire indicated they should move on.

Most of us have time to prepare before we set out on a journey. But the picture of the Israelites waiting in Egypt for Pharaoh to let them go is of suddenly leaving with no preparation. Exodus 12:39 says: “...they had been driven out of Egypt and did not have time to prepare food for themselves.”

Numbers 33 outlines the stages of the Israelites journey and the 42 times they packed up camp and set out again. It may be hard to imagine what it was like to pack up all one’s belongings — deciding what to take or leave behind, organize children, round up animals, pack food and water, and not be too exhausted to leave at the allotted time. They even had an alarm to get them going ( Numbers 10:2-6 )! We often find packing a suitcase for a few days to be tiring, and need to set an alarm when our journeys begin early.

Maybe you have never had to leave on a journey without any preparation, although perhaps at short notice. Or perhaps the only time you have had to pack up everything is to move house. Many people in our world have to set out with no preparation and leave everything behind. In particular, we think about those who flee because of war.

In all these situations, whether you are preparing for a pleasant journey, or have to suddenly leave because of dire circumstances, you can be reminded that God is watching over you as with the Israelites ( Exodus 12:42 ). This prayer is for you.

I thank You for watching over me as I prepare for all my journeys whether it is to take a vacation, travel for business, move house, or one which is thrust upon me unexpectedly. Thank You for Your constant vigil while I sleep, when I awake, and as I pack my suitcases. Give me the strength to prepare well for my journeys. When I feel fraught and tired, help me to stay calm knowing that You care for me.

Heavenly Father, I ask You to watch over men, women, and children who have to flee their homes with no preparation — those who are running away from harsh situations and from war, just like the Israelites had to run away from Egypt. I thank You that I can choose what to put in my suitcase, but I pray for those who have to put their whole lives in a suitcase, choosing what to take and what to leave behind. I ask You to care for these people who are destitute.

The Route for the Journey

The word for “road” or “way” in both the Old Testament ( derek ) and New Testament ( hodos ) can refer to a physical road ( Numbers 21:4 , Matthew 21:8 ) but also figuratively to the actions of a person and the direction they are taking.

In Deuteronomy, the Israelites were instructed to walk in the ways ( derek ) of the Lord ( Deuteronomy 10:12 ; 11:22; 19:9). Jesus used the word hodos in the following verse “I am the way ( hodos ) and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” ( John 14:6 ).

We usually do not set out on a journey without knowing the way we are going — having directions, planning the route, purchasing tickets, or other details. Even though we are careful in planning our journeys, they often come with obstacles. Delayed flights, inclement weather, and unwanted detours can present challenges and frustrations. It was the same in biblical times. The Israelites became impatient because they had to go around Edom ( Numbers 21:4 ). Jesus “had to go through Samaria” ( John 4:4 ), an unwanted route for most Jews who tried to avoid contact with Samaritans.

However, Jesus’ journey through Samaria gave Him the opportunity to share the truth of who he was with the woman at the well , and through her witness many more came to have faith in Jesus.

Use the prayer below as you plan your way for any physical journey you are taking and for opportunities to show the goodness of God. Pray over your spiritual journey as well. The prayer below is based on Psalm 119:26-32 . I have paraphrased it for you:

Heavenly Father,

As I plan the route of my next journey, whether for business or pleasure, I ask that each stage of the trip will go smoothly so I can get to my destination easily. When it does not, help me not to get frustrated and annoyed, but to see the opportunities you have given me to show Your goodness and kindness, just as Jesus did.

Lord God, just as I carefully plan the physical routes for any journey I am taking, teach me the importance of being intentional with Your ways for my life. Help me to understand Your instructions so I can meditate on and follow Your wonderful teachings. Keep me from going the wrong way, or making wrong decisions. In Your goodness, gently guide me. Today, I choose to be obedient and faithfully follow You.

The Journey

Journeys such as road trips, flights, train rides, and more often give the opportunity to talk and share with those with whom we are traveling, and with strangers. They also provide teaching moments, especially for children. Deuteronomy 11:19 says we are to teach God’s words to our children “when you walk along the road...” Our trips provide a chance to focus on and speak about spiritual things, but not just with children.

Jesus took the occasions of journeys to instruct his disciples and others during his ministry and after his resurrection . In particular, we are reminded of Jesus walking with the two disciples on the road to Emmaus as He “explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself” ( Luke 24:13-32 ). There are many other occasions, too, when Jesus used His travels for instruction — not limited to Mark 2:23-28 , Mark 9:30-34 , Luke 19:1-6 .

Journeys also present the opportunity to show compassion and love to others, as with the parable of the Good Samaritan ( Luke 10:25-37 ).

Use this prayer for your upcoming journey, to look for chances to show kindness to others, to share the Gospel and your faith with family or friends traveling with you, and even with strangers you meet.

Help me to see the journeys I take as opportunities to show kindness, compassion, and Your mercy, just as Jesus did. I want to bring glory to You by sharing, encouraging, and teaching about Your love and goodness. Give me the chance to talk about what You have done for me and in my life. Help me to share my testimony and my faith with those I am in the car with, sit next to on the plane, and walk with on the road.

I thank You for the example of Jesus, who did so much of His teaching and healing while He was on journeys. Thank you that it is not just about the destination, but all that we can experience on the way. Just as You have walked with those through history who placed their trust in You, be with me and those I am traveling with today.

The Destination

When we travel and arrive at our destinations we are, in a sense, sojourners. We make a temporary stay in places that are foreign to us, whether they are other countries or different areas of our own country.

To sojourn is a familiar theme throughout the Bible from the Old Testament to the New Testament. Abraham, for example, was a sojourner when he lived in Canaan. He sojourned in other places too: Egypt due to the famine ( Genesis 12:10 ), Gerar ( Genesis 20:1 ), and the land of the Philistines ( Genesis 21:34 ).

All of God’s people were sojourners until they arrived in the Promised Land . Then God reminded them to respect the sojourners among them because they were once foreigners ( Exodus 23:9 , Deuteronomy 10:19 , Leviticus 19:33 ).

Jesus, too, lived like a sojourner when on this earth. He said: “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head” ( Matthew 8:20 ). He also relied on the hospitality of others to provide a bed and food for him.

The Bible tells us we are foreigners when we don’t know Christ, but as Christians, we have become members of God’s household ( Ephesians 2:11-19 ). Even though we are considered strangers in this world ( Hebrews 11:13 , 1 Peter 2:11 ), we are to treat non-Christians well.

As you travel and take up temporary residence in different places, pray that you will be given good treatment and that, likewise, you can show God’s love and goodness to those who are strangers in your own communities and homes.

As I think about temporarily staying in another country, area, or someone’s home, not only do I hope to be treated well, but help me to be respectful to those around me who have different customs and behaviors than myself. I want to be a good witness for You in the way I behave, the actions I take, and the words I say. I also ask for Your continued protection and safety, remembering that Your concern for sojourners was not just for biblical times, but it extends to me today. Keep me and my traveling companions safe. May we be shown the hospitality that we want to extend to those who come into our homes or into our communities and country.

Like all prayers, when we pray for safe travels, we pray as God calls us to.  We can praise God and petition Him on our behalf and others.

God asks us to pray for all things, for all circumstances, and to come to Him for all our needs.

How Do You Pray for Those Who Are Traveling

We know that prayer is powerful and we should pray for all things (without ceasing). But what are some ways to pray for a safe trip for yourself or a loved one?

We can pray for our own safe travel. And we can pray for the safe travel of others.

When we pray for safe travels, we are not just asking for physical protection, but also for guidance, clarity, and a smooth path ahead.

It’s an acknowledgment of the uncertainties and challenges that can arise during travel and a humble request for a shield against those potential adversities.

This act of reaching out in prayer can provide a sense of comfort, reducing anxiety and instilling a feeling of being cared for by a benevolent force.

Pray for your own safe travels to bring God into your travel plans. Praise Him for the gifts of travel and petition Him for a safe journey. Pray that He will guide you on every step of your journey.

In praying for someone who is traveling, we want to ask God to wrap His full armor around them during every step of the way to their destination.

Here are just a few example prayers that you can pray for either your own travels or for the upcoming travels plans of a loved one.

Prayers for Safe Travel and Protection

In any endeavor we embark upon in life, we want God to protect us from any dangers that may come our way.

When traveling, these dangers can be anything from dangerous road conditions and storms, to mechanical malfunctions of the vehicle (or plane).

Pray this prayer to ask for God’s protection and watchful eye while you are traveling.

Pray for a loved one’s safe travels to show God’s care for them through your intercession.

Pray for God’s guidance on their journey and for those responsible for their safety such as pilots or bus drivers. Pray that He will watch over them on every step of their journey.

When a friend or loved one is traveling, the biggest act of love we can give them is to pray for them!

Pray for their individual safety and protection. Pray for the safety of the vehicle they are traveling in (cars, planes, etc). And pray for anyone who may impact their travel security such as the plane pilots.

Dear Father in Heaven, it seems clear that the relationship I am in now is coming to an end.  We just can’t make this work long-distance.  We both realize this and are going to meet soon to talk it through.

I am grateful that we can both end this in a healthy way, even if it is emotionally painful.  We both really like each other and balance each other out, but we can’t be in the same city (or even time zone) due to our jobs.  And neither of us is able to pack up and move in our careers right now.

Dear Lord, I wish I wasn’t praying this prayer.  I wish I was not a widower.  I wish my wife was still alive.  But that’s not the case–she has died and I am a single adult male now.  Society tells me I am a widower like that’s some type of special status.  It really just means I’m alone.

I know I have to continue on.  I know I still have purpose and meaning on this earth.  I want to continue to live, and not just as a widower.  I want to thrive, so I am asking for a fresh start in this new kind of life.  I don’t want to just exist.

In his grand prophetic vision, the Apostle John was allowed to see and hear God:

This road we travel, Lord, may not always be smooth; obstacles along the way often slow our progress, stones cause us to stumble, things we see distract us and we miss a turn or two. But there are fellow travellers who have studied the route and know the pitfalls well, familiar with the guide book that we follow, and its author, and for both we are so thankful.

Loving God, in you I find the strength to persevere when daily life’s a struggle. In you I find the wisdom I require when engaged in difficult conversations. In you I find the peace to calm my soul when life in general is so busy. In you, and you alone I find the source of life love and hope, and offer in return my life, my all.

Speak Lord, into the heart of government, and those whose decisions today will affect the lives of millions. May their incentive be not pleasing the powerful, the political influencers, loudest voices and donors, but rather to do your will; seek justice, help the poor, work for the common good of all people, not just a few. It’s a difficult ask, we know, but in you, Lord, is our hope.

What Happened in Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Episode #27?

The first part of episode #27 of Frieren focused on the aftermath of the second stage of the First Class Mage exam, where Fern damaged the prized staff she received from Heiter. When Frieren suggested she buy a new one, she was upset at her for the insensitivity. However, Frieren tried her best to repair the staff, searching all over town for someone who could put it together. Richter, one of the examinees who failed, ran a magic shop and he was able to repair the staff. This beautiful moment showed the progress Frieren made in trying to understand others' feelings despite her awkward and aloof nature.

The unexpected happened when Serie, the most knowledgeable and powerful mage , stepped in to proctor the third test. Because there were so many examinees remaining due to Frieren, Serie wanted to reduce the number. When Frieren found out that Serie was in charge of the exam, she immediately knew she would fail due to their past interactions. However, she was confident that Fern would pass, and she told Serie that she would be blown away by her student. Indeed, she was, as Serie was so impressed she tried to recruit her as her student, but Fern declined. In the end, Fern passed the First Class Mage Exam while Frieren didn't.

Frieren Embarks On Her Next Journey

The whole point of Frieren and Fern taking the First Class Mage Exams was to travel to the northernmost region of the continent, an area inhabited by many demons. As such, nobody was allowed to pass without being accompanied by a First Class mage. Now that Fern has achieved that rank, the three can continue their journey north to meet the souls of their loved ones. The final episode of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End will reveal the results of other examinees, such as Denken and Wirbel, and see Frieren, Fern, and Stark start their new adventure.
