Since the 2019 release of TOOL’s critically-acclaimed album, Fear Inoculum , the band has won a GRAMMY Award® (Best Metal Performance for “7empest”), completed sold-out tours of both the U.S. and Europe, and headlined Bonnaroo, Welcome to Rockville and the Sonic Temple Arts & Music Festival. TOOL marked the 30th anniversary of the Opiate EP with the 2022 release of “ Opiate 2 ,” a re-imagining of the EP’s title track, released in tandem with a breathtaking, 10-minute short film crafted by Adam Jones and visual artist Dominic Hailstone (“Alien: Covenant”, “The Eel”).

Reviews from TOOL’s sold-out 2022 tours praised the four-piece, with Loudwiredubbing the performances as “a masterclass of immersion, sound and stage design, musicianship… and levels of ungodly tightness.” The Austin Chronicle described the incomparable live experience as an “unbridled exchange of catharsis between performers and fans.” More recently, Revolver, covering Welcome to Rockville 2023, said “TOOL delivered a stunning… set featuring classic fan favorites, newer Fear Inoculum standouts and choice deeper cuts … the striking visuals also included a psychedelic laser and projections show bar none.”

ABOUT TOOL: TOOL formed in 1990, releasing five studio albums: Undertow (1993), Ænima(1996), Lateralus (2001),10,000 Days (2006), and Fear Inoculum (2019); two EPs: 72826 (1991) and Opiate (1992), and the limited-edition boxset Salival (2000). The band has won four GRAMMY Awards®: Best Metal Performance (1998, “Ænima”), Best Metal Performance (2002, “Schism”), Best Recording Package (2007, 10,000 Days) and Best Metal Performance (2020, “7empest”). TOOL is Danny Carey (drums), Justin Chancellor (bass), Adam Jones (guitar) and Maynard James Keenan (vocals).

Metal icons Tool hit South Florida for two sold-out shows at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, F, the venue set near the luminescent guitar hotel. This show on Jan 19th marked the electrifying culmination of a two-night musical spectacle that left fans in awe. The venue has become the go-to place for music’s biggest acts. While it can be daunting to get a ticket there to most shows because it only seats around 7000, and the tickets are more expensive, there is no denying it is perhaps the best place to see a show in South Florida. The views, the visuals, and the audio are as good as it gets.

tool 2013 tour

Opening the show were the band Elder, an American psychedelic prog band now based in Germany. The 4 piece had great energy with plenty of riffs and dual guitar solos. But if you didn’t know their music, it could be hard to tell where one song ended and the next began. However, they got the crowd going which is what any good opener is supposed to do.

The crowd was noticeably filled with people of all ages- men, women, and even children. The fact that a band with no big radio hits, and long intricate songs has been able to capture such a wide audience is an amazing thing to behold. Meanwhile, there were signs everywhere warning fans not to film, take photos, or even text during the show or they would be kicked out with no warning. More on that later.

tool 2013 tour

At exactly 9 the band took to the stage and started with the tour’s nightly opener, the title track from their last album “Fear Inoculum.” The huge screens and strange footage were mesmerizing, and without all the cellphones lighting things up, helped make the show even more immersive. From there it was all about the music. Maynard James Keenan stood elevated in the back as he does, but he remains one of rock’s most captivating frontmen. His vocals were outstanding, if not a bit low in the overall mix.

tool 2013 tour

Bassist Justin Chancellor was the most animated of the 4, moving along with the music and staring into crowd. Guitarist Adam Jones was less so, but stood on the other side of the stage expertly delivering his intricate guitar lines. Center stage was drummer Danny Carey, who practically seemed to be playing every piece of his massive drum kit all the time. The drum patterns and rhythms of the songs are so intricate and unique it is almost impossible not to pay attention to his every move.

tool 2013 tour

Following the first track, Maynard instructed the crowd not to take out their phones and he might reward them with an opportunity to film the last song. So the crowd obliged and the band went into the track “The Pot” which sent the crowd into a frenzy. From there the band weaved in a few more songs from Fear Inoculum with tracks from the classic albums like “Intolerance” from Undertow, before ending the first set with “The Grudge” from Lateralus . It was only 7 songs, but it nevertheless a lengthy 1st half of the show.

The second set opened with Danny Carey standing in front of a huge gong where he preceded to begin his drum solo. He eventually transitioned to the drums and started playing along with electronics which led into the track “Chocolate Chip Trip.” The show then continued with the band performing “Flood” and “Invincible.” At this point Maynard allowed everyone to take out their phones to film the last song of the night. The final song being “Schism,” perhaps their most famous song, was a great was to close the show. The iconic bass line and lyric “I know the pieces fit” got the crowd on their feet.

tool 2013 tour

The Hard Rock Live provided the perfect intimate setting for Tool to deliver a mesmerizing performance, showcasing their unparalleled musical prowess and captivating stage presence. From the powerful vocals of Maynard James Keenan to the intricate instrumentation, the concert was a testament to Tool’s enduring influence and ability to create an unforgettable live experience. This is truly a show not to be missed.

Indigenous representation in popular media | Talk of Alaska

a screening

In the past, Indigenous people were misrepresented in movies and other media when harmful stereotypes and racist tropes were too often the norm. Indigenous Americans were presented as one-dimensional characters, or played by non-native actors. But things are changing and the recent HBO season of the series True Detective is a good example. It employed Alaska Native actors, writers and casting directors. What changes when Indigenous people have influence over popular television content? We talk with actors from the Alaska-focused series True Detective: Night Country, on this Talk of Alaska.

Maynard Keenan of Tool

Tool are hitting the road this fall. The prog rockers announced the dates for a North American tour on Tuesday morning (June 6), including their first Canadian shows since 2019. The fall outing will compliment the band’s previously announced summer festival gigs with six weeks of new non-fest shows slated to kick off on Oct. 3 in Loveland, CO at the Budweiser Event Center.

Tool’s Maynard James Keenan Says Drag Outfit Had Nothing to Do With Florida Law: ‘I’m Not a…

Trending on billboard.

Singer Maynard James Keenan made news last month when he wore what appeared to be drag during a set at Daytona Beach’s Welcome to Rockville Festival, that seemed at first to be a reaction to the series of  controversial bills  signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis recently that ban minors from attending  drag  shows. But the vocalist who often wears women’s clothes and bizarre costumes on stage later said the choice was personal, not political.

“I’ve been cross-dressing since long before these clickbait-junkie dupes were out of diapers,” he told The Messenger . “And that’s really all there is to it. I’m not a political fella — had nothing to do with Florida.”

Tool 2024 setlist: Every song they played at their epic downtown Phoenix concert

Tool brought their tour in continued support of "Fear Inoculum," a chart-topping triumph that hit the streets in August 2019 as their first release in 13 years, for a two-night stand at Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix.

They've done three metro Phoenix concerts since releasing "Fear Inoculum," the first of which was hailed by azcentral.com as  "a visually breathtaking night of dystopian art-rock spectacle," offsetting highlights of their latest effort with older classics as timeless as "Stinkfist" and "Sweat."

Last October, bassist Justin Chancellor told the Vinyl Guide they plan to "get back in the studio and knuckle down" on the ideas they've been cooking up for a new album when this latest run of dates is over.

Tool Announce 2022 Tour

By Matthew Strauss

Tool

Tool have announced 2022 tour dates. The shows are set to begin in the United States in early January, with the North American run stretching into March. Tool will then play European and UK shows in April and May. Find the dates, including stops with Blonde Redhead and the Acid Helps, below.

Like many bands, Tool had plan to go on tour last year, announcing concerts in February. By June, however, the band formally canceled the tour.

“It is with great pleasure I get to announce our return to the road,” Tool drummer Danny Carey said in a statement. “These past 18 months have been trying to say the least but from great trials come great lessons and great rewards. We are genuinely looking forward to sharing them with you.”

Tool’s latest album is 2019’s Fear Inoculum .

How to get free movie tickets, baby products and more

It’s just a matter of knowing where to look.

tool 2013 tour

People often say nothing in life is free. I disagree. So does Melissa Cid, a consumer savings expert for MySavings.com . “A lot of legitimate free products and services are still available. Companies want to get their products into consumers’ hands,” she says.

There may not be as many freebies available as there were five years ago, but you don’t have to be an influencer or TikTok star to get something for nothing. You can score meals, tools, electronics, entertainment and more if you know where to look. Some free items are yours to keep; others are things you can borrow, to save money on things you only need for a short period.

Of course, there’s often a trade-off. In many — but not all — cases, you’ll have to join a loyalty program or provide personal information such as your phone number or birth date to get the freebies. To keep your inbox from getting overloaded, it’s a good idea to set up a separate email account for online loyalty programs. “You can also use only your first initials or a shortened last name,” Cid says, to protect your privacy. “And many companies that tie rewards to birthdays no longer ask for your year of birth, just the month.”

Here are some of the many freebies available; use this list as a guide to help you find similar offers in your community.

Coffee grounds

Have you ever wondered what Starbucks does with its used coffee grounds? Many cafes (including those located in a supermarket or other retailer) give them away. They place used grounds in silver bags with a “Grounds for Your Garden” label and leave them in a basket or bucket. “The challenge is availability, because there’s no set schedule on when, or how much, will be available,” says Bryan K. Chavez, national deals editor for Living on the Cheap . “It’s hit-and-miss.” He suggests bringing a plastic or trash bag to transport the grounds. “Otherwise you may end up with a huge coffee stain in the back seat of your car,” he says.

Comic books

Whether you’re a casual reader or a collector, mark the first Saturday in May on your calendar. It’s Free Comic Book Day , when more than 2,300 shops around the world give away comic books to anyone who comes in. Major and independent publishers work together to select about 50 titles to make available for the event.

Free advance screenings are available for most new movies, usually to generate buzz before a film is released in theaters or on streaming services. To see free first-run movies, sign up with Gofobo or check out Advance Screenings , says filmmaker Neil Chase. Gofobo will email invitations to screenings based on your Zip code. Advance Screenings lists shows by city and state, with links to pass giveaway sites. “Film fans should also follow independent filmmakers and/or production companies on social media, as supporters are often invited to private screenings,” Chase says.

Energy efficiency kits

Some electric and gas companies offer energy conservation kits, either by request or for completing a home energy audit. Valerie Cannell, publisher of Columbus on the Cheap , noticed an offer for a free kit on her mother’s energy bill and ordered it. She says it included multiple lightbulbs, flashlights, weather stripping, a filter whistle to alert you when a clogged air filter needs to be replaced, a power strip and more. Search online for “energy company + free energy efficiency kit” or check your bill for information. Virginia Natural Gas customers who complete an online energy audit, for example, will receive one of three free energy-savings kits. The company’s Hot Water Conservation Kit includes a massage shower head, a kitchen swivel faucet aerator, a bathroom faucet aerator, pipe insulation, a shower timer and a hot water temperature card for your water heater.

Birthday gifts

While many popular chains have cut back on their birthday freebies, there are still plenty that offer gifts. During Cid’s birthday month, for example, her inbox was full of free products and restaurant offers. Her haul included three Krispy Kreme doughnuts, a mini-cake from Nothing Bundt Cake, a small Yankee Candle, a slice of Cheesecake Factory cheesecake, a Denny’s Grand Slam breakfast, and name-brand beauty products from both Sephora and Ulta. Some retailers email or text you a coupon; others automatically load it on your loyalty account. Carefully read the fine print to be sure you’re getting a real freebie — no purchase necessary. “Birthday rewards often change, so they’re difficult to nail down,” Chavez says. “The companies always use vague terms like surprise, gift, reward, et cetera.”

Baby products

If you are an expecting or new parent, you can score lots of free baby products. Target and Walmart give free welcome gifts to people who sign up for their baby registries. There’s no catch, and the boxes (some valued up to $100) may include wipes, diapers, bottles, lotion, baby wash, pacifiers, breastfeeding pads and coupons.

Automotive tools

It’s often not cost-effective for DIY-ers to buy tools for a quick car repair job. Instead, you can use AutoZone’s free Loan-A-Tool service. All you have to do is leave a deposit for any of almost 100 tools, including a disc brake caliper tool, an oxygen sensor wrench socket or a compression tester gauge, and you can keep it for up to 90 days. When you’re done, return the tool for a full refund of your deposit. You can pick up loaner tools in-store or order them online.

Libraries of things

Local libraries loan a lot more than books . Depending on where you live, you might be able to borrow a Chromebook, a wheelchair, snowshoes, an ice cream maker or any number of items. Many libraries also house seed libraries. They call it “borrowing” seeds, but it’s really a freebie, in which you can pick up a variety of vegetable, herb, fruit and flower seed packets. Contact your library for a list of things they make available to cardholders.

Music and concerts, music and concerts | concert review: tool celebrated halloween at xcel energy center with an evening of heavy tunes.

Publicity photo for metal band Tool.

There’s something quite appropriate about seeing long-running art metal band Tool on Halloween. Tuesday night, the foursome filled St. Paul’s Xcel Energy Center with a series of lengthy, dark and heavy songs delivered with an impressive ferocity from a band that released their debut album 30 years ago.

Then again, Tool is not like most bands. They exist in their own world and take exacting care on everything from their songs to their record sleeves to their live performances. They’re released a mere five albums over the past three decades, each denser and more intricate than the last.

In concert, they perform under dim, or sometimes absent, spotlights, with lead singer Maynard James Keenan acting as a sort of anti-frontman who is far more comfortable hanging out in the shadows by drummer Danny Carey. Guitarist Adam Jones and bassist Justin Chancellor stand up front, but don’t do much beyond standing there and playing their instruments.

But Tool makes it work and, once again, they played a wholly engaging show that was easy to get lost in, both in the powerful songs and the trippy visuals. Each song is accompanied by dazzling (and sometimes disturbing) visuals displayed on multiple screens behind the band along with an impressive number of lights and lasers. (More than a few fans indulged in newly legal weed during the concert.)

Tuesday’s set featured eight songs Tool also played at Target Center in March 2022 , but it still felt like a distinct and possibly darker show. Tool built the night around their most recent album, 2019’s Grammy-winning “Fear Inoculum,” with a seven-number main set followed by an intermission and four more tracks to close out the show.

Throughout, the band was as dialed in as ever, with Jones coaxing an astonishing variety of noises from his six string. While lengthy drum solos are usually a bore, Carey offered a highlight of the evening with “Chocolate Chip Trip,” an intoxicating blend of live drums, loops, synths and the occasional gong. (The title was inspired by the home-baked chocolate chip cookies served in the studio where Tool recorded.)

As for Keenan, who turns 60 in April, he brought the appropriate heft and menace to the likes of “Jambi,” “Descending” and “The Grudge.” But he also got the chance to explore a more vulnerable side of his voice during “Culling Voices,” an epic number that starts out tender (tender for Tool, anyway) and builds into a massive wall of sound.

Tool completed their recording contract with “Fear Inoculum,” and it’ll be interesting to see where they go without label interference as they enter their fourth decade of making music together.

FORT KENT, Maine — Fort Kent middle schoolers are the state’s first students to learn at the newly unveiled Maine Mobile Biolab, a 50-foot, 10-ton mobile lab built on an RV chassis equipped with cutting edge science tools.

The lab arrived on Monday, March 11. It was unveiled during an early afternoon ribbon cutting ceremony attended by staff and about 100 excited middle schoolers. Fort Kent is the first of 12 sites around the state that the mobile school will visit this year.

STEM educators Anna Stehlik and Heather Carlisle will travel around the state with the biolab. Stehlik on Monday demonstrated an activity that simulates the experience of locating and removing an invasive species from an environment. Students will use a UV light and camera connected to a computer to monitor the species, which is represented by beads only visible under UV light.

Through this activity, students will get $1,000 worth of play money. They need to plan a careful budget and determine which tools to purchase to most effectively remove the invasive species.

“Some of these tools are not very useful, so the students have to think about it with their group and bounce ideas off of each other, which is a lot of what science is,” Stehlik said.

Other activities at the lab include a micropipette challenge, where students learn how to use micropipettes to move dyed samples and create the visual spectrum. Another activity includes monitoring how sugar moves through the body and how diabetes can affect this process. This involves using a glucometer and glucose test strips to test simulated plasma samples.

tool 2013 tour

Fort Kent students will attend classes in the lab on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and for half a day on Friday.

The lab was made possible via Portland-based nonprofit Educate Maine, who partnered with Bioscience Association of Maine, Northeastern University’s Roux Institute and Learning Undefeated.

Testimony from these organizations and Maine teachers helped the state Legislature pass LD 1389, An Act to Establish a Mobile Learning Lab.

The bill, passed last summer, provides a total of $400,000 for the lab, with $150,000 being one-time funds for contracted staffing services and the remaining $250,000 funding the mobile lab itself.

Jason Judd, executive director of Educate Maine, said that Sen. Susan Collins was also instrumental in getting $1 million via congressionally-directed spending to develop the lab.

Kate Howell, director of workforce partnerships at Educate Maine, said the lab can fit 24 students at a time. She said the lab is geared toward middle school students.

tool 2013 tour

“That’s a time where we see a drop-off with students,” Howell said. “It’s really the time to catch them and to help them build their science identity and help them understand the opportunity to get excited about science, which really influences the classes they might take in high school.“

For the program’s pilot period this semester, the lab will visit 12 schools across the state for one week. The lab will visit Ashland District School next week and return to Aroostook County to visit Caribou Community School for the week of May 6. A full map of stops for the mobile lab is available online .

“We work with the schools to help build a schedule that works for their students and reaches the maximum number of students that they want to get on board,” she said.

Howell said they work with teachers at each school to develop a curriculum based on what subjects their students are particularly excited about. This helps educators better understand what STEM careers and industries to show their students.

Aileen Huang-Saad, director of life sciences, health, and engineering programs at the Roux Institute, brought the idea of the mobile lab to Judd shortly after relocating for her current position three years ago.

Huang-Saad said she has seen the effectiveness of mobile labs in engaging students in STEM through her experience in other locations.

“It’s really important for us to meet students where they are, as opposed to always expecting them to come and find us,” she said.

She said Judd was immediately on board with the idea, and they began to work together to make it a reality.

“It was a great synergy, because neither of us could have done this without each other,” Huang-Saad said. “Educate Maine has a very powerful network throughout the state, but they didn’t necessarily have the same access to other networks around the country working in the life sciences space. I have that network, but I certainly don’t have that ability to engage the K-12 system.”

Deborah Beaulieu, a sixth grade teacher at the school, was instrumental in bringing the lab to the St. John Valley.

Last summer, she said she needed to recertify and attended a science workshop. This is Beaulieu’s 25th year as a teacher, and she said she was curious to learn about new developments in the science field.

She learned about the biolab initiative at a workshop, and was excited about the opportunities it could bring to rural schools.

“As soon as I saw an email come through asking who was interested in having the biolab at their school, I responded immediately,” she said. “And now we’re launching the biolab. I never, ever thought that we would be the launching school.”

Last week, Beaulieu presented to nine different classrooms and explained what the bio lab would be about and when it was coming. In the days leading up to this week, she said students have been asking several questions about the lab.

“They’re super excited about it,” she said. “And it will be exciting to hear their feedback after they’ve been through the program.”

Maine Senate President Troy Jackson, who supported the bill and attended the March 11 ribbon cutting event at Fort Kent Elementary School, said the biolab will help students across the state and in rural towns access STEM education materials.

tool 2013 tour

“It’s not that they don’t teach it, but they don’t have all the equipment,” Jackson said. “We just thought it would be a big thing to have something like this go around and spend a week at schools around the state, and to let kids know that this is out there. This is in Maine, and this could be your career.”

Title: not all tickets are equal and we know it: guiding pruning with domain-specific knowledge.

Abstract: Neural structure learning is of paramount importance for scientific discovery and interpretability. Yet, contemporary pruning algorithms that focus on computational resource efficiency face algorithmic barriers to select a meaningful model that aligns with domain expertise. To mitigate this challenge, we propose DASH, which guides pruning by available domain-specific structural information. In the context of learning dynamic gene regulatory network models, we show that DASH combined with existing general knowledge on interaction partners provides data-specific insights aligned with biology. For this task, we show on synthetic data with ground truth information and two real world applications the effectiveness of DASH, which outperforms competing methods by a large margin and provides more meaningful biological insights. Our work shows that domain specific structural information bears the potential to improve model-derived scientific insights.

Bailey Tardy

Bailey Tardy didn’t have an easy road to the LPGA Tour, but boy was the difficult journey worth it.

Tardy became the 2024 LPGA Tour season’s first Rolex First-Time Winner on Sunday in the People’s Republic of China, making one bogey, six birdies and an eagle in her final 11 holes to win by four shots over Sarah Schmelzel at the Blue Bay LPGA. And now that she has her first LPGA Tour trophy in hand, the 27-year-old can finally reflect on just how far she’s come the last six years, on just how hard she’s fought to make her dreams a reality.

Tardy joined the Epson Tour in 2019 and only managed to make seven cuts in 21 events played as a rookie, earning a measly $13,714 but learning some invaluable lessons that she would apply to her next year as a professional, a season that was ultimately derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

With limited playing opportunities due to a restructured schedule created in response to the global health crisis, it was decided that just five LPGA Tour cards would be given in 2020 to the top-five finishers on the Epson Tour Official Money List. Tardy had finally found her footing as a pro during her sophomore season, missing just one cut, recording four top-10 finishes and earning over $41,000, a solid performance from the young pro by anyone’s standards.

But the end of the year saw her finish sixth in the Race for the Card, a mere $343 away from earning LPGA Tour status for the 2021 season, a dollar amount that ultimately equated to a bogey here or a couple of missed putts there and a blow that Tardy had to reset and recover from as she eyed her third year on the Epson Tour the next season.

Tardy played some more solid golf in 2021, picking up her first professional victory at the Copper Rock Championship in April and collecting three additional top-10 finishes throughout the rest of the season, a year-long performance that earned her $68,659. But Tardy again found herself on the outside looking in at the top 10 in the Race for the Card, this time finishing 12th on the Epson Tour’s Official Money List, two spots shy of an LPGA Tour card.

She then started to question herself. Was this the right path? Could she afford to keep chasing this dream? Was that dream ever going to become a reality? Would she ever make it to the LPGA Tour?

After plenty of self-reflection, Tardy ultimately decided to keep on keeping on and fought through injury and a slew of missed cuts throughout the 2022 season before getting the train back on the tracks in August. She steadily improved as the Epson Tour Championship began to loom large, carding three T18 or better finishes in her last five events ahead of the season finale in October, but Tardy needed to do something special at LPGA International if she was going to end up with an LPGA Tour card in hand at the end of the week.

She gave it her all at the Epson Tour Championship, carding four straight rounds in the 60s to finish at 20-under overall and threaten a season-ending victory with LPGA Tour status on the line. But it just wasn’t enough for the Georgia native, and she found herself at 11th on the Official Money List, once again missing out on a Tour card by a mere $1,800.

At that point, Tardy didn’t know if she even wanted to try her hand at LPGA Qualifying School. Golf had mistreated her so badly in recent years that she wasn’t sure if she wanted to get her heart broken again or just hang the clubs up for the season and re-evaluate her options when the calendar turned to 2023, an understandable reaction considering what she’d had to endure since joining the Epson Tour in 2019.

But at the behest of her coach, Tardy eventually decided to sign up for LPGA Q-Series despite saying all year that she wouldn’t play in the event, giving herself another shot at her LPGA Tour dreams.

She easily made the cut after the first week of qualifying, finishing T25 through four rounds at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail – Magnolia Grove to move on to Highland Oaks Golf Course in Dothan, Ala., for another 72 holes of golf that would ultimately determine who would earn LPGA Tour status for the 2023 season.

Like the true University of Georgia Bulldog that she is, Tardy played her heart out that second week in Lower Alabama, and it was a final-round 65 that saw her finish runner-up at LPGA Q-Series and finally earn the LPGA Tour card that had eluded her for so long.

“I'm ecstatic. Just a lot of hard work and it all paid off the last two weeks. It's kind of surreal right now. But I can finally say I'm an LPGA member,” said Tardy after she secured LPGA Tour status for the 2023 season. “I think I really proved myself on Epson Tour this year and even these past two weeks. I've also learned the talent on the Epson Tour is insane. I think if you are consistently in the top 15 there, then you can survive on the LPGA Tour, especially from what I've seen from some of the girls out here.

“Just gives me all the confidence in the world that I'll be able to survive on the LPGA if I continue playing the way I do.”

Her rookie season on the LPGA Tour saw Tardy struggle – she missed eight cuts in 21 total starts – but it also saw her have some success. She nearly won the U.S. Women’s Open at Pebble Beach Golf Links, ultimately finishing in a tie for fourth at the storied venue, and she earned three other top-30 finishes, performances that helped her finish 87th in the Race to the CME Globe and easily keep her card for the 2024 season. However, Tardy admits that she doubted herself a lot in her inaugural year on the LPGA Tour, once again questioning if she really belonged among the world’s top talent.

“I missed a bunch of cuts early in the season. It's expensive being out here. I wasn't making any money,” said Tardy of her 2023 season. “I'm 27, so it's kind of either you make it, or you go get a job. Especially when things are going bad, it's like you can't take a week off because that's an opportunity to make money, but then you need to work on your game.

“It's a very fine line of whether or not you stay on the road and you push through or take a week off and try to fix things. I struggled with that a lot last year. It's a life that's not for everybody. You have to really love being out here and love golf, and that's what I do.”

And it’s that love of the game that carried Tardy to her moment in the People’s Republic of China, that kept her going even when she thought she couldn’t fight any longer, that saw her through to victory at the Blue Bay LPGA. But her win is also a testament to Tardy’s resilience and grit, demonstrating just what can happen when you continue time and again to bet on yourself and showing just what it means to never, ever give up.

“Getting to the LPGA wasn't an easy path for me,” said the now Rolex First-Time Winner. “I played the 2019 year and COVID hit. Didn't play great in 2019. Ended up playing well in 2020, and they gave out five cards and missed the card by one spot. That happened the next two years for me.

“So, it was a lot of self-reflecting trying to figure out if I was even good enough to be on the LPGA, if I wanted it enough. Life on the road is not for everybody, and so I just didn't know if this was the profession for me. Now that I'm an LPGA winner, I'm so happy I stuck to it. This is a dream come true.”

I have been waiting for over 20 yrs for Tool to come back to Dallas and Jam out. Well that's exactly what TOOL did on 22January2020 in Dallas, TX at American Airlines Arena. From start to end nothing but excellence from all 4 Gentleman. lanyards voice was Top form and the musician's jammed do hard I know they have to have blisters on their fingers. They are a very fine tuned head banging, fist in the air rocking Rock and Roll band of the Decade. If you happen to get a chance to see TOOL within the next 4 shows, only in the states, get there. Because you dont want to miss this show. SHOW OF THE YEAR!!!!! Guaranteed!!!

Absolutely incredible show! The sound was perfect, the visuals were spectacular and the band sounded super-tight (no surprise there). That is no easy feat considering the complexity of their music (especially their new material). They're one of the very few bands that actually sound the same or better live than the studio album. Maynard is finally more visible on this tour as they've added two platforms on each side of the drum riser where he crouched, danced, slithered and delivered his exceptional vocals. He even engaged the crowd a little bit, which was shocking. You could tell he and all his band mates are in a good head space and were really enjoying themselves. Truly memorable show from one of the greatest rock bands ever!

The band was unreal as always.

I attended a Montreal show a couple of years back and this was just as good along with the addition of some new album tracks.

Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the crowd here. The fans were far more connected to the music in Montreal. They understood the ebb and flow.

But, for some reason, we've got fools in Toronto who show up, get trashed and are somehow louder than the band. People here don't seem to get the idea that they're there with 12 - 13 thousand other people so it's really not about them. But, hey, that's the maturity level of kids old enough to drink legally, but not self-aware...

If ever they're back again, I'll see them, but never at Scotia again.
