On the campus student entrepreneurs create app for taking campus tours.

princeton university tour app

When a friend of Ron Miasnik ’22 had a disappointing tour at Princeton due to the lack of focus on physics, the major he hoped to pursue, Miasnik began thinking about ways to personalize the campus tour experience. The discussion ultimately inspired a STUDENT STARTUP AND A NEW APP, ADORA .

Miasnik partnered with Raya Ward ’21, Joseph Rubin ’22, and Sacheth Sathyanarayanan ’22 (a co-founder who is no longer involved with the project) to identify key issues, including accessibility, how to engage students with specific interests, and how to offer opportunities for those who cannot visit campus. They also connected with Princeton’s Office of Admission.

For the next year, the Adora team worked on developing the app, joining the Keller Center’s eLab Incubator program, which helps students with development, funding, mentorship, and launching of a product or service. Dan Levin ’86 and Ann Kirschner *78 served as advisers.

Through the app, users can select a premade tour or create a personalized one by choosing areas of interest, including majors and extracurriculars. The app generates a tour with the most relevant stops. Each location is interactive, with descriptions, videos, and photos, and navigation is included for those using the app while on campus.

The Adora team won first place in the Entrepreneurship Club pitch competition in February. In January, Princeton became the startup’s first customer. Pitzer College, Cal Lutheran University, North Dakota State University, and Presbyterian College in South Carolina have also signed contracts with the company.

The coronavirus pandemic upended a planned launch in May, but it also presented the team with a new opportunity: to develop better ways to engage with those who cannot physically visit campus. The app launched in the fall.

Emily Crosby, an assistant dean of admission, said she is proud of the students and believes their product will change the campus tour landscape. “It’s been a pleasure to work with them,” she said.

School of Engineering and Applied Science Tours

We strongly recommend visits when classes are in session if at all possible in order to see the campus alive with students. The best time to visit is during the junior year of high school or the fall of senior year prior to application.

Although applicants apply to Princeton University rather than to the engineering school, and all admission decisions are made by the Undergraduate Admission Office, we normally provide tours for prospective students and their immediate families and happily answer questions. A proper full-day visit to Princeton would include an engineering tour , Orange Key tour , and an  Admission Office information session .

Engineering Tours

Join us for an in-person student-led tour s of the engineering school.  Sign up  to hear directly from a current engineering student and to ask questions. Please  explore online , follow us on social media, or  email questions .

Please note that our engineering tours are intended for prospective undergraduate students visiting campus individually, along with their families. Due to the large number of prospective students and family members taking our tours, as well as the narrow hallways in the Engineering Quadrangle (E-Quad), we are unfortunately not able to accommodate large organized tour groups or groups arriving by bus.

Regardless of the situation, large groups of visitors will be turned away at the door. No exceptions.

In-person Guided Engineering Tours

Guided engineering tours during the academic year are offered by members of the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society, who are juniors and seniors who are able to describe their experiences as engineering students at Princeton while providing an overview of the academic programs and facilities. Guides will begin the tour promptly at 11:30 a.m. from the SEAS Undergraduate Affairs Office, room C209 in the Engineering Quadrangle (E-Quad), which is K3 on the campus map .  Tours last 45 minutes to an hour and are offered Monday through Friday, when classes are in session . Unfortunately, we are unable to offer guided tours on weekends, during Reading Period (just before exams) and exams, or during breaks. Here are our available tour dates . Please check back in July 2024 for our fall engineering tour schedule.

During the summer, guided engineering tours are offered after the July 4 th holiday through the end of July, given by students who are spending their summers at Princeton doing research. Guides will begin the tour promptly at 11:30 a.m. from the SEAS Undergraduate Affairs Office, room C209 in the Engineering Quadrangle (E-Quad), which is K3 on the campus map . Tours last 45 minutes to an hour and are offered weekdays only, Monday through Friday.

Here are our available tour dates . Please check back in May 2024 for our summer engineering tour schedule.

We ask that you please RSVP and follow the instructions. Helpful information, like parking on campus, is available using the tabs in the upper right. An email confirmation will be sent. Please be aware that during high school vacation weeks in February and April, as well as on holidays such as Veterans’ Day, there is a very heavy demand for guided tours. Since Princeton students have to meet academic obligations, we do not have large numbers of guides available, so the tours during peak periods can get very large. If possible, please plan to visit outside these periods.

Please note that we are unable to store personal items such as luggage, backpacks, coats or umbrellas in the E-Quad.

Self-led Engineering Tours

If you are unable to visit when a guided tour is offered, a self-led tour is available. No pre-registration is required. The leaflet describing the self-directed tour and its route can be picked up just outside the SEAS Dean’s Office suite on the main corridor of the C-wing, just next to the E-Quad Café. The self-led tour can be done at any time that the building is open, Monday through Friday, but we ask that you do not enter labs or offices unless invited by a member of the faculty or staff. Please note we are unable to store personal items such as luggage, backpacks, coats or umbrellas in the E-Quad.

Further information

Please see the list of Frequently Asked Questions by prospective and admitted students. Each engineering department has a website with information on its undergraduate program. Please visit this link , click on the departments that interest you, and follow links to the undergraduate program. Each department has an undergraduate handbook or similar advising document which will provide detailed information on its program of study and independent work, as well as video clips from current majors.

Please Note: In the event of inclement weather, should Princeton University officials announce that campus is closed to non-essential personnel, SEAS will not be offering guided engineering tours and our office will be closed for business.  Please check the Princeton homepage for updates about University operations.  Your safety is very important to us and we strongly encourage you to use good judgment when making your travel decision.   It is better to be safe and postpone your campus visit until you can see Princeton under much more auspicious conditions.

If you continue to have questions about the engineering program at Princeton, please email [email protected] .  All questions about the application process, including standardized tests, and admission matters should be directed to the Undergraduate Admission Office, [email protected] .  See this link for complete contact information.

Application Checklist

Below you'll find the list of components that comprise the Princeton first-year application. In an effort to simplify all that is required of you, we frame the process in three action steps: 1) Submit, 2) Request and 3) Report.

More information about optional components of the application is available at the base of the page.

First-Year Application Checklist

A Completed Application. You must submit your application online through the Coalition Application or  Common Application . Princeton's CEEB Code: 2672

Princeton-specific Questions. In addition to the questions provided by the Coalition Application or Common Application, all applicants must submit the Princeton-specific Questions . You should submit the Princeton-specific Questions online through the Coalition Application or Common Application website.

Application Fee or Fee Waiver. You may submit a fee waiver one of two ways: 1) Select the fee waiver option on the Coalition Application or Common Application. Your school counselor must approve your fee waiver request online or submit your fee waiver form by mail or fax. 2) Select one of the following fee waiver options on the application: Princeton-specific,  ACT ,  College Board  or  NACAC . All low-income students are eligible for the Princeton-specific fee waiver. In addition, all applicants who are serving or have served in the U.S. military are eligible for the Princeton-specific fee waiver. If you use the Princeton-specific fee waiver, you do not need to get approval from your college counselor or academic adviser.

  • Graded Written Paper. A graded written paper  is required, preferably in the subjects of English or history.

Transcript. An official transcript must be sent by a school counselor or school official.

  • School Report (SR) . The SR form is available from the Coalition Application or Common Application website. Please ask your school counselor or other school official to complete and submit the SR form.
  • Counselor Recommendation.  Please note that the SR and the Counselor Recommendation are separate items. Be sure to “invite ”  your school counselor or academic adviser to complete both items.
  • Two (2) Teacher Recommendations. Please ask two of your teachers who have taught you in higher level courses (e.g., AP, IB Higher/Standard Level, A-Levels, etc.) in different academic areas of study to complete and send the teacher recommendation forms, available on the Coalition Application or Common Application website. The subjects should be in core academic areas, such as English, language, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences or math.
  • Midyear School Report. Please ask your school counselor or other school official to complete and submit this form when your midyear grades are available.

We are extending our test optional policy for first-year and transfer applicants for the next three admission cycles (that is, for applications due in the falls of 2023, 2024, and 2025).

  • SAT or ACT . If you choose to submit testing, applicants should take the SAT or the ACT by the October test date for single-choice early action and the December date for regular decision. When registering for the SAT or ACT, use the following codes to ensure your scores are sent to Princeton: SAT: 2672 and ACT: 2588 .
  • SAT Subject Tests. Princeton does not require SAT Subject Tests. If you chose to sit for a Subject Test (prior to January/June 2021 when the College Board eliminated the test) and wish to submit the score, you may do so.
  • TOEFL, IELTS or PTE Academic scores . If English is not your native language and you are attending a school where English is not the language of instruction, you must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) , the International English Language Testing System Academic (IELTS Academic) or the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) . You are not required to take the TOEFL, IELTS or PTE Academic if English is your native language or if you have spent at least three years at a secondary school where English is the primary language of instruction. Please have your scores sent directly to Princeton: TOEFL: 2672

Optional Application Components

Arts Supplement, if applicable.  If you've excelled in  architecture, creative writing, dance, music, music theater, theater  or  visual arts , and would like us to consider your talent, you are welcome to submit an  optional Arts Supplement . Early action applicants must submit digital arts materials by Nov. 6 and regular decision applicants by Jan. 8. On the Coalition, Common or QuestBridge Application, please indicate your intention to submit an Arts Supplement in Princeton’s member questions. You will be able to submit an Arts Supplement through your Princeton Applicant Status Portal. Please keep in mind that you need to submit your application to Princeton University before you can submit your Arts Supplement. Given the timeline, students who are participating in the  QuestBridge National College Match  will be unable to submit an Arts Supplement.

  • Interview.  Princeton offers optional alumni interviews. Interviews take place after the Admission Office has received your application. You may choose to opt out of the interview in the Princeton Supplement, and this choice will not put you at any disadvantage in the admission process. If you do not opt out, you may receive an email inviting you to interview with a member of our Princeton Alumni Schools Committee. If so, we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity. The interviews are 30-45 minute informal conversations, where you can discuss the things that are important to you and also ask questions to someone who attended Princeton. We cannot guarantee that every applicant will receive an interview. This will depend on the availability of alumni in your area. Our dedicated alumni do manage to contact the vast majority of our applicants every year; however, if you do not receive an interview for any reason, it will not put you at a disadvantage since the interview is optional. We do not offer on-campus interviews. These interviews must not be recorded in any way, either by the interviewer or the applicant. Given the timeline, students who are participating in the QuestBridge National College Match will be unable to complete an interview.

Application Confirmation

You may log in to Princeton's Applicant Portal  to verify whether we have received all your required application materials. You will receive a confirmation notice when we have received your application. The confirmation notice will arrive approximately 24-48 hours after you submit your admission application. If your application is incomplete, we will let you know which pieces are missing. Beginning in mid-October, you also may track the completeness of your application online through the Applicant Portal. Please note: You cannot apply for financial aid until you apply for admission. Please review our application dates and deadlines .

If a student has submitted an application on three separate occasions, the Office of Admission generally will not review subsequent applications. In these instances, if an application fee was submitted, it will be returned.

The University's admission process involves a holistic review of each applicant's entire file. No particular factor is assigned a fixed weight; rather, the process involves a highly individualized assessment of the applicant's talents, achievements and his or her potential to contribute to learning at Princeton. Please see the Joint Statement on Common Ivy Group Admission Procedures for more information about admission policies.

Princeton-specific Questions

Review the additional essay questions of our application.

Graded Written Paper

The graded written paper will help the Office of Admission assess the student’s written expression in an academic setting.

Optional Arts Supplement

The optional Arts Supplement is for students who have devoted a significant amount of time and energy to one or more art forms and who wish to have their work considered as part of their application.

Won't install on iphone 6.

I've had no problems with earier versions, but this version installed on my iPad Minin 4 with some difficulty (I had to delete and then restore). I have been unable to install this version on my 64 GB iPhone 6 (with 23 GB free)--I persistently get an "unknown error." Have tried installing from iTunes and downloading directly from the App Store without success. Princeton basketball to host UNLV in 2024 NIT bracket

princeton university tour app

Princeton basketball’s winningest season since 1997-98 won’t end in the heartbreak of a stunning Ivy League Tournament loss to Brown. The Tigers are headed to the NIT as a No. 2 seed.

After going 24-4 – the best mark since a 27-2 rampage when current head coach Mitch Henderson was a senior guard on the team – Princeton will open the NIT against UNLV Wednesday, 8 p.m. at Jadwin Gym (ESPN+). If the Tigers win, they will host either Providence or Boston College Saturday or Sunday. If they win that, they could wind up at top-seeded Seton Hall for next week's quarterfinal.

These Tigers are no strangers to the postseason. All five starters were part of the squad that advanced to last March’s NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 with upsets of Arizona and Missouri. Three of them played on the 2022 unit that lost a first-round NIT game at VCU.

Princeton won the NIT in 1975, toward the end of the event's glory days. The NIT’s cachet has diminished a bit in recent years after the event’s semifinals and final were pulled out of its historic location at Madison Square Garden. Butler’s Hinkle Fieldhouse is the host for the final two rounds this season.

St. John’s, Indiana, and Ole Miss turned down NIT invitations Sunday, citing Sunday's opening of the transfer portal as the reason.

At Princeton, the coaches and players were in alignment about playing on.

"We wanted to continue to play," head coach Mitch Henderson said. "Lots of respect nationally for what we have done (No. 2 seed). I think people who are paying attention see that."

UNLV has a record of 19-12 overall and went 12-6 in the highly competitive Mountain West Conference.

"Very happy to have a home game for our fans," Henderson said.

NIT bracket 2024: Tournament schedule, scores, dates, times, second round begins Saturday

Saturday's nit slate features a trio of games featuring top-two seeds in action.

NCAA BASKETBALL: MAR 19 NIT - Boston College at Providence

The 2024 NIT continues on Saturday with three games on the slate. The first round earlier this week provided upsets and thrilling finishes that are certain to carry over to the next round.

The action begins in New Jersey when Seton Hall hosts reigning NIT champion North Texas. Big 12 newcomer Cincinnati hosts Bradley, and Virginia Tech travels to Columbus to face Ohio State in the third and final game of the evening. Ohio State recently removed the interim tag from Jake Diebler's title after the school fired former coach Chris Holtmann last month. The Buckeyes held off a late rally to knock off Cornell 88-83 earlier this week.

North Texas upset LSU in the first round of the NIT on Tuesday to set up a date with Seton Hall. The Pirates defeated Saint Joseph's 75-72 in overtime thanks to a go-ahead 3-pointer by Al-Amir Dawes with 48 seconds remaining.

Here is a look at the full bracket.
