Forclaz Trek 100, Lightweight Synthetic Down Packable Puffer Jacket, Men's

The technical advances applied to this padded jacket make it compact and thin while keeping you warm. Make backpacking lighter! Eco-designed, fill made from 70% recycled polyester.

This hooded padded jacket combines warmth, light weight and durability. You can trek comfortably in cool weather (down to 23°F).

How warm is this padded jacket?

This padded jacket, worn as a 3rd layer, has been certified for an active comfort temperature of 23°F during a standardized test in a thermal chamber. The model is wearing a synthetic long-sleeved T-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 3 mph wind. We have also tested this model in "static" mode; the comfort temperature is 41°F in this case.

Want to know more about the fill?

We use 100% polyester fill (70% recycled) weighing 4.4 oz/sqm in the body and 3.5 oz/sqm in the sleeves and hood. The fill is made from silicon-coated spiral fibers that make it highly compressible and highly durable. Despite its low thickness, the air trapped inside provides high insulation properties while allowing it to remain lightweight. It remains warm even when wet.

Do you know why the inner lining of your padded jacket is gray?

Because the fabric we use reduces CO2 emissions by 40%. The fabric used is innovative because it mixes a dope-dyed black yarn and an undyed yarn. Compared to a classic dyeing process, this process reduces by: •66% fine particle emissions (PM2.5) •74% Eutrophication of fresh water •68% eutrophication of sea water

Additional sustainable development information

On the Trek 100 black and blue models, the outer fabric uses a clean process known as dope dyeing (the thread is dyed in bulk) reducing CO2 emissions by 36%. More information: http://developpement-durable.decathlon.com/

Durable materials

This polyamide fabric uses 20 denier thread and resists 20,000 cycles of abrasion. Martindale test, Standard 12947-2. Outer: 100% polyamide fabric 1.4 oz/sqm, 20 denier. Lining: 100% polyamide fabric 1.2 oz/sqm, mix of 15 to 20 denier threads.

Water-repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)

The water-repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. As a result, the fabric does not soak up water and stays light and warm. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface; however, this property may deteriorate with use. We recommend that you restore it after each wash.

PFC-free water-repellent treatment

On the Trek 100 hooded padded jacket, the water-repellent treatment is PFC-free. PFCs are used to make fabric water-repellent, however they are toxic to the environment and people. By substituting PFCs with other technologies giving the same level of performance, we are reducing the environmental impact.

How to restore water-repellent properties?

Follow the guide! We recommend that you use the care product to treat and restore water-repellent properties

Inside flap under the zipper that protects from the wind. Elasticated cuffs Flap at the top of the collar to protect the chin. Tightening with an elastic cord and toggle at the hem. Hood with elastic bias binding

A score for comparing the products' environmental impact

The environmental impact of the product is calculated over its entire lifecycle and using different indicators. An overall ABCDE score is given to help you easily identify products with the best environmental performance by comparing products of the same type (T-shirts, pants, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to displaying the environmental information of its products. More information: http://developpement-durable.decathlon.com/

Here are the reasons I prefer the trek 100 padded jacket over anything else in the range

Shubhra Kishan

While on a trek, your equipment is your lifeline, your best friend. Of all the things in the world, I never compromise on my trekking equipment and handpick every item after thorough research. This not only ensures that I have the best of everything but also makes me have a sense of belonging towards them.

One thing I love in particular is my trek 100 jacket . They come in multiple colours and I have almost all of them in my wardrobe. Let me make this more specific. ‍

Here are the reasons I prefer the trek 100 padded jacket over anything else in the range :

trek 100 hoody padded

    1 . Compact design.

The best part about this jacket is that it folds away into its left-hand pocket using a zip with the double puller. This helps me while packing my rucksack since the jacket takes minimal space. And it is really handy if you are on a trek where the temperature keeps on moderating.

    2. Warm and light

This jacket breaks the myth that the heavier the jacket , the warmer it is. This jacket works at temperatures as low as (-)5 and weighs only 400gs approx. I mean, 400g is literally negligible.

trek 100 hoody padded

    3. Eco friendly

This is very important to me. We go on treks to get closer to nature, to experience the raw beauty that our incredible planet has to offer. That privilege also makes us responsible to preserve our nature. The wadding in the jacket is made up of 25% recycled polyester and the inner lining is grey which while making, produces 40% less Co2 emissions and almost 66% less fine particle emission and 74% eutrophication of freshwater - 68% eutrophication of seawater.  A jacket that is eco friendly - How cool is that.

4. Water repellent

Since this jacket is water repellent, it prevents water from seeping in and therefore keeps you dry. This is extremely useful especially when it is snowing. All you got to do is shrug off the snow without worrying about your jacket getting wet.

trek 100 hoody padded

5. Insulation

This is one of the most impressive functions of this jacket . Since the wadding is made up of silicone-coated spiral fibers, it is highly compressible and durable. That is why despite its low thickness, the jacket remains warm.

These were 5  very strong reasons I personally picked this jacket for my adventures. With a two year warranty and multiple colors to choose from, I can't be more satisfied with it.

The trains and stations of the Moscow Metro

2 Comments · Posted by Alex Smirnov in Cities , Travel , Video

The Moscow Metro is the third most intensive subway system in the world after Tokyo and Seoul subways. The first line was opened on May 15, 1935. Since 1955, the metro has the name of V.I. Lenin.

The system consists of 12 lines with a total length of 305.7 km. Forty four stations are recognized cultural heritage. The largest passenger traffic is in rush hours from 8:00 to 9:00 and from 18:00 to 19:00.

Cellular communication is available on most of the stations of the Moscow Metro. In March 2012, a free Wi-Fi appeared in the Circle Line train. The Moscow Metro is open to passengers from 5:20 to 01:00. The average interval between trains is 2.5 minutes.

The fare is paid by using contactless tickets and contactless smart cards, the passes to the stations are controlled by automatic turnstiles. Ticket offices and ticket vending machines can be found in station vestibules.
