Night Market

NightMarket.jpg

The Night Market is a festival that occurs between the 15th and 17th of Winter . Various boats and merchants will appear at the docks on The Beach , and offer to sell goods or take the player for a boat ride. The Night Market is open between 5pm and 2am, but the Submarine Ride closes at 11pm, and the Mermaid Boat closes at 12:30am.

Unlike other festivals , shops and homes throughout Stardew Valley (including the beach ) are not closed on the days of the Night Market, and time continues to pass during the festival. Animals also need to be fed during the Night Market event; the game will not automatically consider them to be fed as with other Festivals.

Decoration Boat

The blue boat between the docks sells a variety of purely aesthetic decorations, some of which change with the seasons. Players can purchase an unlimited number of each decoration. Decorations can be placed indoors or outdoors.

The Decoration Boat is the only place where the candy cane decorations can be purchased. Seasonal Decor and the Seasonal Plants can be purchased at other festivals/shops.

Famous Painter Lupini

Fishing Submarine

Three fish can only be caught here: the Midnight Squid , Spook Fish , and Blobfish . Seaweed , Sea Cucumber , Octopus , and Super Cucumber can also be caught in the submarine ride. There is also a rare chance to catch a Pearl while fishing here.

The table below shows the chance of catching each item while fishing in the submarine.

Magic Shop Boat

The magic shop boat is located to the right of Famous Painter Lupini. It sells decorative items, seeds, a unique hat, and a unique fireplace, with different stock each night. Each item may be purchased in unlimited quantities. Seed sell prices are the same as at Pierre's General Store .

Rarecrows #7 and #8 can be purchased only after earning the first ones by donating items to the Museum .

Mermaid Boat

The Mermaid Boat is open from 5pm to 12:30am. Upon entering, a mermaid will appear and begin singing to the player, accompanied by a cutscene. Her performance lasts 1 hour and 40 mins, but the player may leave at any time.

After the show, clam shells inside the boat can be clicked to play musical notes. Playing the correct notes in the correct sequence will award the player a special item.

The correct sequence of musical notes can be found in Secret Note #15 , although finding the secret note is not required to complete the sequence. The tune played during the mermaid show also indicates the solution. Click below to see the solution and information about the special item awarded.

Shrouded Figure

Traveling cart.

The Traveling Cart makes an appearance at the docks with her cart on a raft. She sells a selection of her usual items, including the Wedding Ring recipe.

Villager Attendees

Unlike other Festivals , villagers can be seen deviating from their normal schedules to walk to the beach to attend the Night Market. These villagers cannot be found outside the Night Market during the festival. The lists below show which villagers attend on which days each year.

Note that it's possible to complete Gathering, Slaying Monsters, and Fishing Quests during the Night Market. Talking to the villager will complete the quest, before scripted festival dialogue occurs.

Villagers who are married to the player do not attend the Night Market, but instead follow their normal Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday marriage schedules.

If Robin is working on constructing a building on the Farm , she will not attend the Night Market.

Abigail Icon.png

  • Additionally, Artifact Spots and forage items usually found on the beach will be unavailable due to the event, but will continue to spawn nightly. Tilling sand will still yield the usual clay , snow yams , and winter roots .
  • Shimmering lights may appear in the water, and the Copper Pan can be used on them to obtain ores, gems, etc.

  • Fishing while the merchant fleet is present can cause obstruction to fishing, but there are a couple spots where you can still fish. However, fishing while the merchant fleet is docked will only yield Trash .
  • The 'Red Eagle' painting from Famous Painter Lupini is in the art style of the Native American tribe Hopi .
  • Occasionally, a mermaid may be seen swimming up past the window behind the submarine captain.
  • 1.3 : Introduced.
  • 1.4 : Coffee merchant now sells only one cup per night. Removed exploit where time was paused during submarine ride ascent/descent by opening the player menu in singleplayer games. Night Market in Stardew Valley: A Full Guide

Are you tired of regular festivals in Stardew Valley? How about a treat at the Night Market in Winter? In this guide, we’ll walk you through this yearly event in the game that lets you browse different items from dealers!

The night market with different merchant boats and an entertainment with some small vendors near Willy's Shop.

Pelican Town celebrates different seasonal festivals, from the zestful Egg Hunt to the quirkiest Spirit’s Eve. Winter is no exception, with the Festival of Ice and Feast of the Winter Star arranged within 28 days. However, one such occasion is so matchless that you won’t feel a better satisfaction after paying a visit to the place.

Enter Night Market – one of Stardew Valley’s attractions introduced in the game’s 1.3.27 version. Since ConcernedApe gives free updates, you can’t miss this unique occasion whether you’re on PC, Windows, or Mac.

This complete Night Market guide will talk about everything from different shops and items to secrets and tips and tricks.

Table of Contents

What is the Night Market?

A parchment paper containing a message about inviting the player to the Night Market.

The Night Market is a festival that occurs from Winter 15 to 17. You’ll receive a mail informing you of the upcoming festivity, and you’ll be invited to visit the Beach every 5 PM. While other fests restrict access to the place, this one’s an exception. Moreover, you can enter shops and homes and time passes by normally.

You’ll see boats that will either offer goods or take you for a ride at the event’s beginning. However, every shop will close at 2 AM – the same time you’ll pass out.

Here are every merchant and vessel you can interact with while at the Night Market:

Fishing Submarine

The player entering the submarine boat.

Before grabbing a cup of Coffee, consider underwater fishing first since it’s the most popular among every Stardew Valley player. New fish types give hype to collectors, but it’s also crucial in completing the Master Angler achievement. If you’re a newbie, you’ll need to catch Blobfish, Spook Fish, and Midnight Squid in this area!

However, talk to the captain first and pay 1000g for the deep-sea fishing tour. It’ll take you 30 in-game minutes for descent (same thing to ascent) before he opens a trapdoor for fishing. The Submarine closes at 11 PM, but you can fish until 2 AM.

Here’s every fishing item you can get along with standard and with Curiosity Lure chances as you cast your Iridium Rod:

Magic Bait works inside the Fishing Submarine that attracts all fish types. But the most valuable item you can reel in is a Pearl, selling for 2,500g.

Desert Trader FREE Coffee

The Desert Trader giving the player a cup of Coffee.

Each night the festival is active, you can talk to the Desert Trader for a free cup of Coffee. She can only do this once per day, and her shop in Calico Desert is unavailable. However, you’ll get an excellent movement speed to run faster as usual.

Magic Shop Boat

The player buying goods at the Magic Shop Boat during Night Market.

Looking to prepare for the next three seasons while it’s cold?  The Magic Shop Boat is your go-to vendor, without additional charges (similar to Pierre’s General Store) versus JojaMart and Traveling Cart. You can find the vessel near Lupini, and you’ll get access to the following items for a price:

Tip:  Rarecrow #7 and #8 will be available for purchase once Gunther gives you the same items as a reward for donating Museum items. In pricing, Gravestone is 150g cheaper than its cost in Spirit’s Eve. The same goes for Log Section versus Carpenter’s Shop. Lastly, buy a Cone Hat at Night for its cheapest value.

Seeds of Artichoke, Garlic, and Red Cabbage will be available in Year 2.

Mermaid Boat

The player entering the Mermaid Boat

At the far right of Willy’s Docks, you’ll see a Mermaid Boat. It’s open until 12:30 AM, and entering will trigger a Mermaid Show cutscene lasting 1 hour and 40 minutes. However, you may leave anytime, even if the show’s going.

After the playtime, you can interact with clam shells that’ll produce musical notes. Not sure how it works?  Try looking at Secret Note #15 as it hints at the puzzle’s answer. But it’s not a requirement to discover the clue first for completion. The combination is 1-5-4-2-3, and you’ll get a Pearl per saved game!

The tune is reminiscent of Ginger Island’s Flute Block Puzzle and the performance in the same vessel.

Decoration Boat

The player buying furniture and other items at the Decoration Boat.

The Night Market offers different items, including visually pleasing decorative items, to make your farm stand out. And for the best part, you can make unlimited purchases, and the stock changes every night.

Some decors are for Winter, and you may also get plants that change alongside seasons. Interact with the indistinguishable blue boat to see what you’ll get:

Famous Painter Lupini

The player buying paintings from Famous Painter Lupini at the Night Market.

While Stardew Valley is art itself, you can still get multiple artworks through different means. One of them is Famous Painter Lupini – a generous and talented artist selling three paintings throughout the Night Market. However, his inventory rotates every three years, totaling nine items you’ll get!

For 1,200g each, here is every masterpiece you should purchase, along with the years and date it’s available:

Traveling Cart

The player not buying (some) items at the Traveling Cart.

There’s little to say about the Traveling Cart, except she has her pig on a lifeboat. Also, her prices are still ridiculously unfair, so there’s no reason to buy from her (except for the Wedding Ring recipe). But if you’re desperate, check here to see each of her inventory.

Shrouded Figure

The Shrouded Player giving a Farm Warp Totem to the player.

Done exploring the festivity?  Returning home would be a great idea, but every minute counts! The mysterious creature in robes can help you teleport back to your farm for only 250g. But if you don’t like paying, craft a Warp Totem: Farm instead.

Tips to Remember

Marnie talking to the player.

This beautiful event will replace your crab pots from Winter 15 to 17. However, it’ll return on the 18th alongside chests and items.

Tilling sand will still give you Clay, Snow Yam, and Winter Root. The same goes for Panning, as shimmering lights may randomly appear on the Ocean.

On the other hand, Robin won’t attend the Night Market if she’s working on one of your farm buildings. But for other NPCs, you could still talk to them about a quest, killing monsters, or delivering items.

Here’s a table of every villager you can talk to and when they’re available:

Stardew Valley: 12 Best Fishing Spots

Turn from bait to great in Stardew Valley with these great fishing spots!

Ahoy there, fellow anglers! Fishing is more than just a pastime in Stardew Valley – it's a journey of discovery, frustration, and (with a bit of luck) triumph. Finding the best spots can greatly enhance your fishing experience and increase your chances of reeling in those coveted rare fish.

The 16 Best Stardew Valley Farm Layouts

Whether you're a seasoned angler or just starting out, knowing where to cast your line can make a world of difference. So, without further ado, let’s explore the top fishing spots in Stardew Valley that will have you hooked in no time. Let’s dive in!

Updated January 18th, 2024, by Rosa Baumgartl: Fishing is a beloved mechanic in many of our favorite cozy games, and Stardew Valley fishing is no different. Since the publication of this article, the community has discovered a few more interesting morsels regarding what comes out of the magical waters around Pelican Town and Ginger Island.

12 The Beach

A saltwater haven.

  • The rarest fish (outside of legendaries) that you can catch at the Beach is the Super Cucumber.
  • It can be sold for up to 750g or placed in a Pond to produce Amethysts.
  • The best use, however, is when placed in a hidden box behind the Blacksmith.

The Beach is more than just a place to collect seashells and get a killer tan on your pixelated character. Located to the south of Pelican Town, the Beach offers an expansive stretch of coastline that is a treasure trove for saltwater fish enthusiasts.

If you're after unique catches, the Beach is the place to be since the Eel, Super Cucumber, and Squid are among the rare fish that can be found here. It's like a seafood platter without the restaurant bill.

11 Ginger Island South

Exotic fish await.

  • The Lionfish is only caught in Ginger Island's Ocean.
  • It's not worth too much but can be traded for a Tropical Chair at the Island Trader.
  • It makes the Sailor Shirt when used in a Sewing Machine.

Pack your bags, farmer, because we're headed to Ginger Island , nestled within the Fern Islands archipelago. After repairing the boat in the back room of Willy’s Fish Shop, you can access this intriguing island that presents a paradise for anglers seeking a different fishing experience.

You'll discover an assortment of fish, including the exclusive Lionfish, as well as rare favorites from back home like Tuna and Pufferfish.

10 Ginger Island Pirate Cove

Hidden aquatic treasure.

  • Stingrays are very difficult to catch but are sold for up to 540g.
  • Their best use is in a Pond, as they'll produce Dragon Teeth and Batteries.

Once you've managed to clear away the debris on the eastern side of the beach, you'll be able to access a hidden area full of secrets. Play a haunting song to the mermaid on rainy days, fish up Golden Walnuts from the star-shaped pond, and enter the pirates' hideaway for even more surprises.

The watery entrance by which the pirates row in is also a great spot to fish. This is the only place in the game where you can catch a Stingray, as well as fish up a sweet Gourmand Statue. During the Dance of the Moonlight Jellies, this is a serene place to watch them float about.

9 Ginger Island North And West

Fossils abound.

  • The Blue Discus can only be caught in fresh water, like ponds and rivers.
  • You can get five Golden Walnuts randomly while fishing.

We all know you can get some amazing treasures while fishing, whether in the form of presents or literal treasure chests. However, should you accept Professor Snail's task, you will also find that you reel in some ancient artifacts to donate.

Ginger Island fish don't seem to care whether the water is fresh or saline, but the fossils do. The only way to get the Large Animal's Fossilized Spine is by fishing in the little brook running through the Dig Site. And the elusive Snake Skull only floats about in the western ocean.

8 Mountain Lake

Serene waters for beginners.

  • In Summer and Winter, until 7 pm, you can catch the Sturgeon.
  • Not only do they sell for up to 600g, but they're the only fish to produce Caviar.

The Mountain Lake is a tranquil oasis nestled in the Mountain map that caters to both beginners and those with an "I fish in my sleep" level of expertise. Situated at the heart of the Mountain, this lake is teeming with a variety of fish, with the Carp being particularly abundant.

Stardew Valley: 8 Best Things To Do With High Luck

It's an excellent place to hone your fishing skills before venturing into more challenging waters. And if you're feeling brave, keep an eye out for the legendary fish, Legend and Legend II, since they call this lake their home.

7 Pelican Town River

A classic fishing destination.

  • Salmon can only be found swimming up river to lay eggs in Fall.
  • They're necessary for a lot of quests and make a mean Salmon Dinner, Alex's favorite.

Pelican Town's river isn't just a scenic backdrop; it's also home to some legendary aquatic celebrities. It’s like that trusty old friend who always knows how to impress. From rookie fisherman to the pros, this river's got something for everyone.

Throughout the year, a lot of river fish can be reeled in here, but the real star of the show is the legendary fish Angler, which can show up at the north end of the river. And don't forget Ms. Angler, giving the classic tale of angler love a whole new meaning.

6 Secret Woods Pond

Enigmatic waters.

  • Catfish are available here year-round despite usually being a season-locked catch.
  • You can reel in a Wall Basket, a cute wall decoration not available from the Catalog.

Hidden away in the Secret Woods , this pond is like a covert treasure chest that holds secrets to be unveiled by intrepid anglers. Casting your line into these enigmatic waters may reward you with the Woodskip, a catch unique to the pond.

This fish is like the unicorn of fish, and catching it is like winning a game of underwater hide-and-seek. Plus, Carp and Catfish hang around, probably discussing their favorite fish stories, and they are very hooked on that topic.

5 The Sewers

Unconventional fishing grounds.

  • If you wander into the Mutant Bug Lair, there's a unique fish called the Slimejack to be found.
  • Careful fishing there though, as Mutant Flies will spawn and attack consistently.

What's that smell? Oh, it's just the Sewers calling. Venturing into the depths of the Sewers might not sound appealing, but it's a hotspot for anglers seeking the rare and unusual in a truly unconventional yet rewarding fishing destination.

Stardew Valley: Skills, Ranked By Difficulty

The Mutant Carp and Radioactive Carp can be reeled in from these murky waters alongside others like Carp, Green Algae, White Algae, and, of course, everyone's favorite, Trash. A literal lesson in the saying, "One angler's trash is another angler's treasure."

4 Witch's Swamp

Dark waters yield surprises.

  • When completing the quest to retrieve the Wizard's Ink, try gifting the Void Mayonnaise to the Henchman.
  • This trick is hinted at in a book in the library once you've dug it up.

Dark and mysterious, the Witch's Swamp isn't just for casting spells. Amidst the eerie ambiance, hidden treasures await those who dare to fish in its dark waters. Here, you can catch the mysterious Void Salmon and Void Mayonnaise, lending an air of mystique to your fishing endeavors.

Alongside these unique catches, Catfish, Green Algae, and White Algae are also possible, making the Witch's Swamp a destination of intrigue year-round. Swap your cauldron for a fishing rod and let the catch-of-the-day mystify your fishing adventures.

Unearth Exclusive Catches

  • Outside of the legendary fish, the Lava Eel has the highest sell price at 2,100g.
  • They're great in Ponds, too, as they can produce Mega Bombs and Iridium Bars.

Who knew The Mines were also a fisherman's playground? Various levels harbor unique fish that can only be found in these depths. On level 20, Ghostfish and Stonefish await your line like the buried gems of the underwater world.

Stardew Valley: 14 Most Dangerous Monsters And How To Beat Them

As you delve further to level 60, Ice Pip and Ghostfish become attainable. And if you're the bold type, level 100 reveals the ultimate prize: a Lava Eel, the one and only fish that thinks swimming in lava is just another Tuesday. Talk about fiery fishing!

2 The Desert

Unpredictable oasis fishing.

  • The pool in the south is a terrible place to fish for, well, fish. The quality will always be the lowest possible.
  • The wall decal can't be found by any other means.

Hold onto your sunhats because the Calico Desert isn't just about cacti and the Skull Caverns. The pond in the northwest section is your primary target, housing the Sandfish and Scorpion Carp – two unique catches that reflect the desert's unique environment.

If your Fishing skill is sufficiently high, you can also try your luck in the pool of water on the southern edge, where the Pyramid Decal, a wall-hanging furniture item, can be fished out.

1 Fishing Submarine

Delving into the deep.

  • It's possible to pull out a Pearl, which is loved by every villager and makes the Bridal Veil in the sewing machine.
  • Blobfish produce Pearls when they're thriving in a Pond.

Hold onto your farmer hats because we're diving into the deep. As the sun sets, a new opportunity emerges – the Fishing Submarine. During the Night Market , the submarine invites players on a deep-sea fishing tour for a fee of 1,000 gold.

With the descent of the submarine, anglers are granted access to the depths where Midnight Squid, Spook Fish, and Blobfish can be reeled in. It's like a seafood-themed sleepover, but underwater.

The 7 Most Difficult Quests In Stardew Valley

Long read: Who is qualified to make a world?

In search of the magic of maps.

Stardew Valley Fishing: How to fish, all spring, summer, fall and winter fish listed, and legendary fishing explained

How to catch every fish in Stardew Valley.

Fishing is both a key skill and money maker in Stardew Valley . You can catch fish by using either a fishing rod or by placing a crab pot in the water.

Each season - spring, summer, fall and winter - has a variety of fish you catch. Once you've mastered fishing, there are even five legendary fish for you to hunt down and capture.

You can breed fish in fish ponds on your farm, which will not only provide you with more fish, but a variety of useful items.

Fishing also plays an important part in completing the Community Center bundles , as the Fish Tank bundle is all about collecting the various fish that live across the valley; from the lakes deep within the mines to the forest river.

On this page:

How to fish in Stardew Valley explained

Fishing rods and tackle in stardew valley explained, fishing skill and levels in stardew valley explained, any season fish in stardew valley, stardew valley spring fish list, stardew valley summer fish list, stardew valley fall fish list, stardew valley winter fish list, legendary fish in stardew valley explained, night market fish in stardew valley explained.

As long as you have a fishing rod in Stardew Valley, then you can fish in any body of water you encounter. Fishing itself comes in the form of a mini-game that is divided into two parts - casting and catching.

Casting begins the moment you decide to use your fishing rod and decides how far you throw your fishing line out across the water.

The length of your cast is determined by the small bar that appears above your hand when you initiate this action. Within this bar you'll find a line moving back and forth, from red to green.

Ideally you want to cast when the bar is as green as possible. This will give you a longer casting distance, with the possibility of achieving a 'Max' cast. You'll know when a cast is 'Max,' because the word will appear on the screen.

deep sea fishing tour sdv

Try to have a long cast distance as possible, because the length of your cast does have a slight influence over the fish you cast and it's quality.

You'll also want to keep an eye out for a pool of bubbles in the water.

Landing your cast in a pool of bubbles will encourage the fish to bite quicker and increase your chances of catching a rarer type of fish.

Once you've cast your fishing line, all you have to do is sit back and wait for an exclamation mark (!) to appear above your avatar's head. When you see that !, it's time to reel your fish in. If you do this successfully, 'Hit' will appear on the screen.

deep sea fishing tour sdv

With your fish on the line, the fishing mini-game will truly begin.

The interface for this mini-game is divided into two important sections - the progress bar on the right and the fish bar on the left.

deep sea fishing tour sdv

The progress bar marks how close you are to catching the fish; green means you're nearly there, while red means you're about to lose your prey. This bar can increase and decrease throughout the mini-game, so make sure you keep an eye on it.

The fish bar contains the fish you're trying to catch, which will move up and down by the bar at a speed determined by how difficult it is to catch. This bar also contains a green rectangle, called the 'Fishing Bar,' that you control.

The 'Fishing Bar' is controlled by pressing, holding and releasing the 'Use Tool' button. Pressing will make the 'Fishing Bar' raise, holding will keep it in position and releasing will make the bar fall.

To catch the fish you need to keep it within the 'Fishing Bar', until the progress bar, on your right, is full.

deep sea fishing tour sdv

If you manage to catch a fish without having it leave the 'Fishing Bar,' then you'll achieve a 'Perfect Catch!' This will increase both the experience you receive from catching the fish and the quality of the fish itself.

The trick to catching fish in Stardew Valley is to learn the pattern of their movements. Some fish will move very fast, bouncing up and down the bar, while others move more slowly, before making a sudden movement. The more you fish, the more accustomed you'll come to this rhythm and the easier fishing will become.

Sometimes a treasure chest may appear during this mini-game. If you want this treasure you need to make sure it's within the boundaries of the 'Fishing Bar,' until a small, separate progress bar is filled.

deep sea fishing tour sdv

Doing this will unlock the treasure chest, but only if you catch the fish. These chests can contain artifacts for the museum to copper ore, so it's always a good idea to try and collect them.

You can't go fishing without a rod and, in Stardew Valley, there are four for you to choose from. These fishing rods are:

  • Training Rod
  • Fiberglass Rod - can equip bait - requires Fishing Level 2
  • Iridium Rod - can equip bait and tackle - requires Fishing Level 6

deep sea fishing tour sdv

Even though it's the easiest to use, don't waste your time using the Training Rod, because it can only commonly found fish. Instead, use the Bamboo Rod that you receive from Willy after receiving his letter on the 2nd of Spring, until you unlock the Fiberglass Rod or Iridium Rod.

Both of these rods allow you to attach bait, which makes it easier to attach fish when you're casting. The Iridium Rod, however, is far superior, because you can equip it with tackle.

There are seven different types of tackle that you can attach to the Iridium Rod and each one provides a different bonus. This tackle and the bonuses they provide are:

  • Barbed Hook - causes the 'Fishing Bar' to cling to the fish you're trying to catch
  • Cork Bobber - slightly increases the size of the 'Fishing Bar'
  • Dressed Spinner - encourages fish to bite on your line when casting
  • Lead Bobber - prevents 'Fishing Bar' from bouncing when dropped
  • Spinner - slightly encourages fish to bite on your line when casting
  • Trap Bobber - slows down the decrease rate of the catch progress bar
  • Treasure Hunter - increases chance of finding treasure chests

Each tackle lasts for 20 uses and, once it's broken, you can either craft or buy a new one from Willy's Fish Shop on the beach.

Tackle can greatly improve your fishing, from making it slightly easier to helping you improve the quality of your catch. The Dressed Spinner, for example, will help you increase your profits, by helping you catch more fish in a day.

Tackle is especially essential when hunting down the Legendary Fish, because they can be very hard to reel in. The Trap Bobber is a great choice, because it helps sustain your progress bar.

Every time you use a crab pot, catch an item or fish in Stardew Valley, you're slowly increasing your Fishing Skill and your progress is marked by your Fishing Level.

There are ten Fishing Levels in total and each one will provide you with a new bonus - be it a new crafting recipe or unlocking a new item. The size of the green rectangle in the fishing mini-game increases alongside your level.

At Fishing Level five, you'll be asked to choose between two professions - Fisher or Trapper.

Fishing is a great way to earn money in Stardew Valley, especially if you decide to use crab pots and ponds . Throughout the year you’ll also be able to take in a variety of festivals , including the Egg Festival , Stardew Valley Fair and the Night Market .

Below you'll find all the fish that can always be caught, no matter the season, in Stardew Valley:

Hidden beneath the waters of Stardew Valley, there are five legendary fish waiting to test your skill at fishing.

Each fish can be found in a specific location and will test your reaction time in the fishing minigame. All, except the Mutant Carp, require you to have a specific fishing level, or higher, to catch it.

You'll know when you have a legendary fish on the line, because the little fish in the mini-game will be wearing a hat.

There is only one of each legendary fish per save file in Stardew Valley, so decide carefully what you want to do with yours - do you want to sell it for a nice lump of cash or are you keeping it for bragging rights?

The Night Market runs on the 15th, 16th and 17th of Winter at The Beach from 5pm to 2am. There are a variety of activities for you to partake in during this event, but the fishing related one is the Submarine Ride.

The Submarine Ride runs between 5pm to 11pm and will take you on a deep sea fishing tour for 1,000g.

deep sea fishing tour sdv

The journey to the sea floor takes 30 in-game minutes there and back - an hour in total - so, if you're planning on using the submarine, it's a good idea to dedicate a whole night of the Night Market to pure fishing; especially since there are three three that can only be caught on the submarine.

Below you'll find the fish that are exclusive to the Night Market, along with the other fish that and other items that you might catch:

Fish exclusive to the Night Market Submarine:

  • Midnight Squid

Other fish you can catch:

  • Sea Cucumber
  • Super Cucumber

Guides & Tips

Stardew Valley Night Market

The difference between the Night Market and other festivals is that homes and shops, including those located near the Beach, are not closed. You will also need to keep feeding your animals during the festival. What does change during the festival, is the map of the Beach. Therefore, any items placed or hidden there, such as chests or crab pots, temporarily disappear. During the event, you also won’t be able to forage usual items on the Beach. However, when the Night Market takes place, you can complete quests on gathering, fishing, or killing monsters.

When the Night Market occurs, villagers change their usual schedules to walk to the Beach. The market is also different from other festivals because if you talk to villagers who attended it, your friendship will be increased.

Coffee Merchant

Shrouded figure.

Here you can teleport to your farm for 250 gold.

Famous Painter Lupini

This painter sells a new painting every day. Each painting costs 1,200 gold. There are 9 paintings in total so they go a full cycle in three years. A painting that depicts a red eagle represents the art style of Hopi, a Native American tribe.

Decoration Boat

This is a blue boat where you can buy a variety of decorations. Some decorations may change with the seasons of the year. You can buy as many decorations as you want and place them wherever you want. This is the only place where players can purchase the Candy Cane.

Fishing Submarine

On the submarine, you can ask a Captain to take you on a deep-sea fishing trip. It costs 1,000 gold. The submarine takes 30 minutes to descend and to ascent. While underwater, you can use a trapdoor to fish. If you’re playing in the singleplayer mode, you don’t need to wait so long — just open the inventory, and halt the game time.

Some types of fish can be caught only from the Submarine, these are Blobfish, Midnight Squid, and Spook Fish. During the ride, you can also catch Octopus, Seaweed, Super Cucumber, and Sea Cucumber. Some players have also caught a Pearl, but there is only a 1% chance of catching it.

Mermaid Boat

It’s open from 5 PM to 12:30 AM. When you enter it, a mermaid greets you with singing and a cutscene begins. You may watch the mermaid’s performance for 1 hour and 40 minutes, or you can leave when you want. When playing a singleplayer Stardew Valley Xbox or Stardew Valley Steam, as well as a desktop version of the game, you can also halt the time if you open inventory.

After the performance ends, you can click the boat to play various notes. If you play the right notes in the right order, you will be awarded a special item. You can find the right sequence of notes in the Secret Note 15.

Traveling Cart

The Traveling Cart is a perfect place for those who wants to buy some unusual things. For example, here you can buy a recipe for the Wedding Ring.

Magic Shop Boat

Some items change their price depending on the day of the festival. For example, we suggest that you buy the Cone Hat on day 2 when its price is the lowest. If you buy the Log Section on day 3, it will cost you 150 gold less than it usually costs at the Carpenter’s Shop. The Grave Stone can be purchased either at the Night Market or at the Spirit’s Eve festival, however, at the Night Market, it also costs 150 gold less.

The Night Market Stardew Valley Guide

Every 15th of Winter, Pelican Town opens its local Beach to vendors from different towns to set up their shops in the Night Market. Citizens flock over the docks to see all the festival’s shops and attractions; there’s a good reason why everyone looks forward to this event every year.

What are the items worth buying at this festival? What other things could you do besides hauling goods from the shops? Today, we will tour the Night Market and see what the festival offers.

The Night Market is a three-day event between the 15th and 17th of Winter in Stardew Valley. It is a mesmerizing, eye-catching festival that allows you to browse a selection of items you can only purchase here. For first-time players, it’s an event you wouldn’t want to miss since the items sold in some shops rotate each night.

Night Market Shops in Stardew Valley

The shops are easily the highlight of the festival. Many shops in the Night Market sell their goods from boats, and most are available from 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM .

Traveling Cart

NM TravelingCart2

The Traveling Merchant is at the dock with her signature purple cart on a raft and her pet pig floating in an inflatable ring. Players who have already repaired their Greenhouse during this time would appreciate the assortment of items the Traveling Merchant has for this event. If you’re wondering where to get blueberry seeds during winter, the Merchant sells a variety of seasonal crop seeds that rotate every night. The Merchant also sells her usual stock, including the recipe for the Wedding Ring .

Famous Artist Lupini

NM Lupini

The Night Market features a famous painter named Lupini . You’ll see the artist standing on the dock and displaying a painting beside him. Lupini exhibits his artworks that cost 1,200 Gold each, but he changes them each night. He also sells a different set of paintings every year until Year 3. The good thing is when you reach Year 4, you’ll be able to purchase the paintings you missed in your first year. Below is the list of all the Lupini paintings you can collect and hang on your wall:

·         Year 1

  • Winter 15: Red Eagle
  • Winter 16: Portrait of a Mermaid
  • Winter 17: Solar Kingdom

·         Year 2

  • Winter 15: Clouds

  • Winter 16: Tropical Fish # 173
  • Winter 17: Land of Clay

Magic Shop Boat

NM MagicShopBoat2

You’ll be able to spot the Magic Shop Boat next to Lupini. Peeking from inside the boat is a Mysterious Vendor with glowing red eyes. There’s also a bouncing parrot standing atop the boat’s lantern.

Like the Traveling Merchant, the Mysterious Vendor sells crop seeds, decorative items, and some unique goods you won’t find anywhere else. However, most items sold here are considerably cheaper than the ones in the Traveling Cart. The items for sale that are listed below also rotate every night:

·         Winter 1 5

  • Bean Starter (60g)
  • Cauliflower Seeds (80g)
  • Garlic Seeds (40g)

Decoration Boat

NM DecorationsBoat

Walking a little further to the left from the Magic Shop Boat, you’ll get to the Decoration Boat. The vendor specializes in seasonal decorations that you put outdoors, but there are also some that you can display inside your house. Here are the items you can buy from the Decoration Boat:

  • Big Green Cane (200g)
  • Green Canes (200g)
  • Mixed Cane (200g)

  • Clouds Banner (1,000g)
  • Seasonal Decor (500g)
  • Six Different Seasonal Plants (500g)

Other Attractions

Shops aren’t the only attractions you’ll see at this festival. You can also watch a boat show, get freebies, and ride a submarine that lets you catch some of the rarest fish ever. These attractions open at 5:00 PM and close at 2:00 AM , except for the Fishing Submarine and the Mermaid Boat.

Desert Trader

NM DesertTrader

The Desert Trader can be located just a few steps from the Decoration Boat. You’ll find her sitting on a rug beside a coffee maker machine. The trader will not sell you coffee. Instead, she will give you one cup of coffee – for free!

Fishing Submarine

NM Sub

To the left of the Desert Trader is the Fishing Submarine. Inside the Submarine, a Captain’ll ask you if you want to take a fishing tour while inside his ship. The Captain isn’t as generous as the Desert Trader, though, as one fishing tour costs 1,000 Gold .

The Submarine will plunge deep into the ocean while you wait for one and a half hours of in-game minutes. After that, a hatch will open up in the ship’s center. Down there, you can fish some deep-sea creatures exclusive to this event. The table below lists all the fish and items you can catch while underwater:

Mermaid Boat

NM MermaidBoat

The Mermaid Boat is one of the main attractions of the festival. It features a mermaid singing and putting on a spectacular show for whoever enters the boat.

When you enter the boat, the mermaid will start singing. If you wait for the show to finish, you can click the clam shells on the stage and notice that each clamshell will produce a sound.

NM MermaidShow

At first, you might think that the Mermaid Show only aims to entertain the player. But if you could dig out Secret Note # 15 , you’ll discover a puzzle you can solve here.

To solve this puzzle, interact with the clam shells in this order: 1-5-4-2-3 (from left to right). If you successfully play the correct musical notes, you’ll obtain a Pearl.

Shrouded Figure

NM Shrouded

The Night Market is packed with scenic spots and features that will eat up your time in Stardew Valley. Should you forget to bring a Warp Totem to the Festival, you can pass out when the clock strikes at 2 AM.

Fortunately, there’s a man wrapped in a dark blue garment called the Shrouded Figure at this festival. He is found in the center of the docks with a levitating Warp Totem, which signifies he can transport you home. Talk to the Shrouded Figure; he can magically warp you back to your farm for 250 gold .

Capt. Scott is a USCG licensed 100 Ton Master Captain and has been fishing and diving the waters out of Ponce Inlet for over 25 years. Capt. Scott has competed in numerous offshore fishing tournaments, winning the Inaugural Fish Stock tournament in 2003 (formally the Striker). My father and grandfather first took me fishing when I was 5 years old. Over the years I have developed a passion and appreciation for the ocean and all the wonders it has to offer. I have caught monster fish, swam with wild dolphins, turtles, sharks and majestic Manta Rays, but most importantly I have experiences and memories that will never be forgotten. Allow me to share my passion with you, your family and friends and help you create the memories that will last a life time. Captain Scott is the owner and operator. Captain Scott is a tournament-winning fisherman, who has been fishing these waters since 1989, and has his 100-ton USCG Captain’s License. Capt. Scott spends several days each week spear fishing, he can see firsthand where the fish are and what various bottom structures actually look like. He also maintains good relationships with other commercial fishermen and captains which provides an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and notes on recent fishing patterns. If you are serious about fishing or would like to introduce your family to a new experience, please give us a call. We look forward to helping you make the memories of a life time. I started fishing when I was 5 years old. In 1989 I moved to Central Florida to attend Stetson University, became a certified scuba diver, and have been diving and fishing out of Ponce Inlet ever since. Although I have landed plenty of monsters, I now find more enjoyment helping others experience the thrill of landing the fish of a lifetime. Read More

Stardew Valley: How to Get Seaweed

Discover the best places to gather Seaweed in Stardew Valley.

Stardew Valley , the popular farming simulation game, offers players a rich and diverse world to explore, cultivate, and thrive in. One of the game’s many resources that players can gather is Seaweed. Seaweed is typically a marine plant that grows in both saltwater and freshwater bodies and is often found floating in the ocean.

While it is considered a low-value item, Seaweed has versatile uses in Stardew Valley . It is an essential ingredient to cook Maki Rolls and can be requested in Fish Pond Quests by ocean fish to increase the capacity of their pond from 3 to 5. Additionally, Seaweed is a key requirement for constructing a Fish Pond on the player’s Farm.

Stardew Valley: How to Fish

How to get seaweed in stardew valley.

Seaweed can occasionally be found inside Garbage Cans. There are a total of eight garbage cans across Pelican Town that may contain Seaweed. Additionally, players can acquire Seaweed in Stardew Valley through the following ways.

The Beach is one of the best spots for catching saltwater fish in Stardew Valley . It is possible for players to catch Seaweed in the ocean by using a Fishing Pole. Seaweed can be reeled in during all seasons and at any time of day. Each seaweed caught through fishing is always of standard quality and grants players 3 Fishing XP.

Tide Pools located at the east end of the Beach are the perfect place to forage Seaweed. There is a narrow strip right by the shore where Seaweeds spawn naturally. However, there is only a 3% chance each night for Seaweeds to spawn. Picking up Seaweed from the shore grants players 7 Foraging XP.

The Tide Pools are inaccessible until the wooden bridge is repaired or players have purchased the second community upgrade.

The Night Market

Among the various boats on the docks at the Night Market in Winter , there is a Submarine that offers players a deep-sea fishing tour. This tour costs 1,000 gold and grants players 30 minutes of in-game time for fishing. While fishing in the Submarine, there is a 41% chance for players to catch Seaweed.

When placed in a Fish Pond , the saltwater crab pot fish have a 2-8% chance of producing between 1 and 3 Seaweed daily. These include Crab, Cockle, Lobster, Mussels, Oysters, and Shrimp. This occurs when the population of the pond reaches a minimum of one. Seaweed caught in a Fish Pond grants players 18 Fishing XP.

The Dangerous Mines

By toggling the Shrine of Challenge on, players can access the Dangerous Mines . When the dangerous setting is active, Seaweed can be found on Levels 1-29 (The Blue Earth) of the Dangerous Mines.

Stardew Valley is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Traveler Reviews

I cant recommend this tour highly enough. I asked a friend to recommend one thing to do with limited time in Moscow and he said, check out the metro. I did one better, and went on this individual tour yesterday with my very well informed guide, Alina. She took me to a number of stations and explained the history, politics and meanings behind the different sculpures and artworks in a way that made the whole experience far more meaningful than getting on and off the metro without guidance would have done. I had a really fantastic time and was thoroughly impressed. To top it all off, we had lunch and Alina suggested some great things for me to do, even whatsapping me maps, suggestions, and internet links. Today she followed up by messaging me to ask how my day was going and if I had any questions about the city, or recommendations for places to eat, etc. A great tour, a lovely guide and a fantastic experience. I couldnt recommend this tour, or Alina, any more highly. Fantastic!

Dear Friends,

My son and myself visited Moscow for a holiday in April 2018. And we had selected this fantastic tour. Our Guide Mrs. Julia came sharp at 10.00 AM even though she was not feeling well and had sore throat. Thereafter she took us to many Metro stations. Though I had already visited Moscow last year and seen all these stations, she gave phenomenal historic background and many interesting facts. She was almost fluent in English and and a good knowledge of Russian Culture, food and many other things. Overall we enjoyed thoroughly and I will highly recommend this tour with Julia if possible. Truly amazing person. And even more amazing tour.

Our Tour booked for 26 December 2017 was absolutely amazing. Our guide Julia picked us up from our Hotel in St Peterburg on time in a luxury minivan. Thanks to Julia we were able to see most of the tourist attractions that day. She went out of her way for us to make our day special. She had a vast knowledge of all the places that we visited. Lunch was special in a typical Russian restaurant with food from the region. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Picked up in the hotel lobby by our guide, Lylie, who then walked us to the closest Metro. She walked/trained us to 13 different stations and then explained the history of the metro and the significance of the decor in each station. We had plenty of time to photo, view the decor, watch and ride the trains and observe the people coming and going with their daily affairs. The art work/mosaics/sculptures/stained glass/ marble all had a role to play in presenting the history of communist Russia. The Russian metro well deserves the title of the most interesting and outstanding metro in the world. Lylie then took us to lunch, advised us on menu choices and their significance in the Russian culture and was very happy answering our questions on how the younger generation is responding to the new Russia. We had an outstanding guide, a fantastic experience and would highly recommend this tour over and above other tours which merely include a visit to a small number of stations. Lesley and David - Sydney

Great guide! She explained everything and took me to all the important stations. She knew her stuff! Worth it!

Our guide ,Dacha, was charming and very informative. We took the 2 hour tour and saw what Dacha thought were the most beautiful and interesting metro stations. The Metro is certainly worthy of its museum status and we were glad to have some of the designs and features explained to us.
