Disney cruise kids clubs: What to know about the Oceaneer Club

Erica Silverstein

Disney cruise kids clubs are some of the best in the cruise industry. Each of Disney Cruise Line 's ships offer huge play spaces for kids, nurseries for babies and hip hangouts for teens and tweens. Plus, the line can lean into all of the Disney-owned properties and brands to enhance its youth activities; there's theming around Mickey and friends, princesses and other Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel movie characters and plotlines.

What are the Disney cruise kids clubs?

disney cruise youth club for tweens

Disney Cruise Line has one of the best kids' programs at sea, with age-appropriate hangout and play spaces for babies through older teens.

The Disney cruise kids clubs start with the It's a Small World Nursery for babies and toddlers. Its biggest kids clubs are the Oceaneer Club and Lab, connected spaces for preschool to elementary school age kids. Tweens and teens also have their own lounge spaces, called Edge and Vibe, respectively.

Disney Wish is the first ship in the fleet to offer a dedicated space for the oldest kids. The Hideaway is the Disney cruise kids club for late high school and college-age young adults.

What are the age groups for kids clubs on Disney cruises?

disney cruise youth club for tweens

The Disney cruise kids club ages affiliated with each space are as follows:

  • It's a Small World Nursery: 6 months to 3 years old
  • Oceaneer Club and Lab: 3 to 10 years old and fully toilet trained
  • Edge: 11 to 14 years old
  • Vibe: 14 to 17 years old
  • The Hideaway: 18 to 20 years old

Note for sailings departing prior to December 21, 2023, the Oceaneer Club is accessible to kids up to age 12, giving middle schoolers the choice between the club and Edge. Based on guest feedback, Disney has made a change to bump 11- and 12-year-olds to Edge, beginning with cruises departing December 21 or after.

Disney Cruise Line makes sure their age group policies fit an array of preferences. You'll notice some overlap in the Disney cruise kids club ages. That's because Disney understands that siblings or travel companions of different ages might want to go to the kids clubs together; it also recognizes that kids at the ends of the age ranges have different maturity levels and interests.

For example, 14-year-olds can choose if they prefer to hang out with younger middle schoolers or older teens, depending on where they feel comfortable. A young 3-year-old might feel more comfortable in the smaller nursery than in the large, choose-your-own-adventure Oceaneer Club.

In addition, parents can sign a permission form allowing mature 10-year-olds to go to Edge and 13-year-olds to go to the teen club Vibe on a Disney cruise. This is especially useful if younger kids want to be in the same group with older friends or family.

How does the kids club on a Disney cruise work?

Parents or other responsible adults should register their kids and teens for the Disney cruise kids club either online pre-cruise or on embarkation day once on board. Kids will receive a wristband (or a special coded cruise card) that enables them to sign in and out of the clubs.

Special activities in each of the clubs will be listed in the daily schedule on the Disney cruise Navigator app. Kids can also choose to participate in the always-available activities at the clubs instead. In the connected Oceaneer Club and Lab, for example, multiple activities will be happening at once, and kids can choose what interests them. Youth counselors will assist the littlest cruisers in finding a suitable activity. Reservations are not necessary.

Parents must sign their children in and out of the Disney kids club until they're 8 years old. Parents can choose to give older kids permission to sign themselves in and out. Tweens and teens can come and go from Edge and Vibe as they please.

Children with special needs are allowed at the youth activities and kids clubs. However, they must be toilet trained and able to participate in the activities and interact with other kids in the clubs without special assistance.

What activities are available for kids in the Disney Oceaneer Club and Lab?

disney cruise youth club for tweens

On ships with a separate Oceaneer Club and Lab, the Club activities will skew a bit younger and the Lab activities a bit older. Disney Wish and Disney Treasure feature just the Oceaneer Club for all activities. Counselors also invite 3- and 4-year-olds to attend special guided activities.

Activities in the Oceaneer Club might include arts and crafts at Tinkerbell's Pixie Hollow, playtime in Andy's Room with Toy Story-themed play structures or a Star Wars-themed flight simulator game in the Millennium Falcon area. Kids can meet characters, listen to stories, dress up and watch Disney movies. Signature activities include Jedi and Lion Guard training, Woody's roundup with games and stories and Mickey's Roadster Races.

The nautical-themed Oceaneer Lab might include the Animator's Studio for crafts, a media room for movies and video games and the Wheelhouse for interactive video games. Some ships have Magic PlayFloors where you work up a sweat playing virtual games. Fan favorites include carving race cars out of soap in the Piston Cup Challenge, making a mess with Super Sloppy Science and baking chocolate chip cookies.

On Pirate Night, expect pirate-themed activities, perhaps with an appearance from Captain Hook.

What activities are available for tweens and teens in Edge and Vibe on a Disney cruise?

disney cruise youth club for tweens

Edge is the tween club, and it offers a mix of structured activities that 11- to 14-year-olds would enjoy, plus time for board games, video games and crafts. The cool hangout space is tricked out with giant TVs, gaming consoles, comfy seating, and tables and chairs that can be commandeered for various activities.

On Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, it's in the ship's forward faux funnel. On Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, the room is designed to look like an old ship's boiler room. On Disney Wish, the space is inspired by a New York City loft, complete with a faux grass picnic area.

Scheduled events might include karaoke, improv class, trivia games, foosball or video game challenges, crafts, scavenger hunts, and parties with photo booths and dancing.

The teen club Vibe is even more laid-back with spaces for teens to chill out. They also offer group activities led by cool counselors. Of course, kids can lounge about and chat with new friends, play video games and watch movies, or sunbathe on ships where Vibe has its own outdoor sun deck.

Scheduled activities might include movie making, a shipwide game of Gotcha, karaoke competitions, talent shows and group games.

On Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, Vibe has a secret entrance off the ship's promenade deck, a high-tech media room, a central pit for group gatherings, and a sun deck with a hot tub and plunge pool. On Disney Wonder and Disney Magic, the teens get the faux funnel space with an industrial vibe and multiple TVs for gaming and movies. On Disney Wish, Vibe is inspired by an artist's loft in Paris, with floor-to-ceiling windows.

That sounds cool. Can adults go into the kids club on Disney cruises?

disney cruise youth club for tweens

Yes, but not when drop-off kid programming is going on.

Disney Cruise Line ships schedule open houses in the different kids and teens clubs each day. During this time, anyone — adult or kid — can come and try out the kids club features. That means adults can fly the Millennium Falcon or play video games, toddlers can crawl around Andy's room with their caregivers and younger kids can check out the hip teen spaces.

Usually, when the Disney Oceaneer Club or Lab is having an open house, there will be drop-off programming in the other space.

Additionally, Disney Wish is the first ship to have a hangout for young adults ages 18 to 20. Newly minted adults can hang out in The Hideaway, which features a dance floor and DJ booth, as well as lounge space.

How do I use the It's a Small World Nursery on a Disney cruise?

disney cruise youth club for tweens

Families with children ages 6 months to 3 years can drop off their children for highly supervised playtime at the It's a Small World Nursery. Unlike the other kids clubs on board, the nursery is not free. Families will pay $9 per child, per hour ($8 for each additional child in the same family).

The nursery is also not a drop-in-at-will space. Parents must sign up for hour-long slots in advance. You can book up to 10 hours per child before your cruise and add or adjust hours once on board. The advice is to prebook the most important spots, such as when the adults have booked a special meal, spa treatment or shore excursion.

At the nursery, kids can play with age-appropriate toys, watch movies and cartoons, and listen to stories. Cribs are available for nap time in a quiet room separate from the playroom.

Parents and caregivers dropping off their children may send them with baby food and formula or milk; diapers, wipes and pull-ups; a change of clothes; blanket and/or pacifier.

Children with special needs are welcome at the nursery.

What time do the kids clubs open on Disney Cruises?

disney cruise youth club for tweens

Typically, the kids clubs open at 9 a.m. (or whenever the ship arrives in port) and close at midnight. Edge and Vibe's open hours vary but often run from 10 a.m. until 1 a.m.

Are Disney cruise kids clubs free? How much does Disney cruise daycare cost?

Disney cruise kids clubs are free to use throughout the day and evening. Unlike other other cruise lines, the late-night open hours do not incur a fee.

The exception is the It's a Small World Nursery, which charges by the hour. The fee is $9 per child per hour ($8 for each additional child within the same family). You can cancel up to four hours before your reservation time with no penalty. If you cancel after that time, you'll have to pay half the fee. No-shows must pay the total amount.

What else does Disney Cruise Line offer families with children?

disney cruise youth club for tweens

Kid-friendly activities do not just take place in the Disney cruise kids clubs. Disney Cruise Line ships offer a huge array of events and attractions for young cruisers.

All ships have pools, splash areas and waterslides or rides, as well as movies both on the pool deck and in a dedicated theater. Activities for the whole family take place in the D Lounge and might include games shows, trivia, crafts and karaoke.

Disney's Broadway-style shows and evening deck parties are designed with kids in mind. Kids can meet and pose with photos with their favorite characters and princesses, or join them for dance parties. For a fee, children can get princess and pirate makeovers in the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique or attend a tea party with princess hostesses.

Bottom line: Disney cruise kids club

Whether your kids are 6 months, 6 years or 16 years, they will find something to love about the kids clubs on Disney Cruise Line ships. Your child might beg to stay in the Disney cruise kids clubs all day or just attend for specific activities. Still, your entire family will always find a ton of activities to keep them busy and happy from sunrise to bedtime on a Disney cruise vacation.

The Disney Cruise Kids Club really is an amazing facility for all ages from 6 months to age 17.

There are different spaces on all of the Disney Cruise Ships for children of all ages.

I have sailed on many Disney Cruises with kids of all ages for over a decade. And they have all had an amazing time in the kid’s clubs.

Let’s explore what is available for children in the kid’s clubs on a Disney Cruise.

Note that there have been some recent changes to the age groups for each of the kids clubs and a change of policy about flexibility so make sure you read on to see the new rules .

disneycruisekidslcub

Overview of Disney Cruise Line’s Kids Club

Did you know that Disney is one of the very few cruise lines that have a facility to care for children under the age of 3?

One of the biggest reasons why Disney Cruise Line is the top-rated cruise line for families is because of the different kids clubs that they offer on all the ships in the fleet.

Apart from the “it’s a small world” nursery!, Disney Cruise kids clubs do not require reservations and are complimentary for guests.

The Disney Cruise Line provides structured youth activities and programs to meet the needs of both children and families. They are categorized by specific age groups and offer tailored spaces for each group.

Age-Specific Kids Clubs

All youth programs are led by specially trained Disney counselors to create highly immersive and magical clubs.

They facilitate age-appropriate fun and engaging activities in all of the clubs throughout your cruise vacation. Let’s dive into a complete list of Disney Cruise kids’ clubs!

How Long Can Kids Stay at Kids Club on a Disney Cruise?

Your children can stay as long as you want them to at the Kid’s Clubs. There is no limit on the time they can spend there.

If the kid’s clubs are open and your child is happy to be there – they can be there all day if they want to. And they may very well want to.

How Does the Disney Kids Club Work on a Cruise?

There are 5 different Kids Clubs on each Disney Ship :

  • It’s A Small World Nursery 6 months to 3 years – this is the only one with a fee
  • Oceaneer Club ages 3 to 10
  • Oceaneer Lab ages 3 to 10
  • Edge ages 11 to 14
  • Vibe ages 14 to 17

Note that effective on sailings that depart on or after December 21, 2023 the age range in Disney’ Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab changes from 3 to 12 to 3 to 10. With no exceptions.

During youth activities Open House times, guests of all ages are permitted in youth activity spaces, including Disney’s Oceaneer Club, Disney’s Oceaneer Lab, Edge and Vibe.

Guests with children 11 and 12 years old no longer need to complete youth activities registration as part of Online Check-in for these children.

This change is also applicable to Scuttle’s Cove which is the kids club for the younger ones at Castaway Cay. This has also changed from 3 to 12 years of age to 3 to 10 years of age .

It’s A Small World Nursery

“ It’s a small world ” nursery! is available on all of the Disney Cruise ships for children aged from 6 months to 3 years old.

It is the only childcare center on the Disney ships which is not provided free of charge, and you have to book ahead.

Even if you don’t use the Small World Nursery for many hours on your Disney Cruise, it can be great to get a break so you can take advantage of all that a Disney Cruise has for Adults .

The cast members provide nothing short of quality care and unmatched convenience.

While the programs at “it’s a small world” nursery! will vary depending on your child’s mood, activities like story time, movie time, and arts and crafts projects will keep them smiling and engaged. The nursery consists of three distinct areas:

  • Acclimation zone designed to help your little ones adjust to their new environment
  • Main play area that features a 3D facade of the “it’s a small world” attraction that is filled with interactive wonders
  • A separate quiet room for infants and toddlers to take naps.

disneycruiseitsasmallworldnursery

It’s a Small World Nursery that charges $4.50 for each half-hour, and you must book for at least one hour. Therefore, the minimum charge is $9 for the first child.

There is a discount for children who are in the same family as they are only charged $4 per hour. So the minimum charge is $8 per hour for the second child.

Advance reservations are required and can be made online:

  • Up to 120 days ahead for Concierge and Platinum Castaway Club Guests
  • Up to 105 days ahead for Gold Castaway Club Guests
  • Up to 90 days ahead for Silver Castaway Club Guests
  • Up to 75 days ahead for all other Guests

If you don’t make reservations online you can go to the Nursery to see if there is any additional time available.

Numbers are very strictly controlled as there needs to be the correct amount of Cast Members to care for the babies and infants.

If you need to cancel a reservation make sure that you do that at least 4 hours ahead of time or you will pay for all of the sessions that you have booked.

Is Food Provided in the It’s A Small World Nursery?

Juice and crackers are available for snacks for your child.

Lunch and dinner is no longer provided as it used to be prior to the shutdown.

Milk is not provided so you need to bring your own formula and bottles. If you have baby food you can bring this as well.

What Else Will My Child Need for the Nursery on a Disney Cruise?

babiesondisneycruise

You will need to provide diapers, wipes, and pull-ups for your child if they are not potty trained.

Pack a bag that is clearly labeled for your child with extra items such as a change of clothing, a special blanket, a pacifier, or perhaps a favorite toy.

Make sure that you label items because things do sometimes get lost.

If you think that your child may be anxious or not settle well in the Nursery, it can also be a good idea to go to the open house which is held every day.

This can help your child get used to the new environment and the counselors.

Make sure that you download the Navigator’s App as the Counsellors will use this to contact you if you need to pick up your child early.

Counselors can’t give any medication to your child, but there is a trained First Aid Cast Member in the Nursery at all times.

Disney’s Oceaneer Club

disneyoceaneerclub

Children aged between 3 and 12 have a choice between the Oceaneer Club and the Oceaneer Lab. On all of the Disney ships, the Oceaneers Club and Lab are on Deck 5 mid-ship.

The Oceaneer Club is themed for Disney fantasy and imagination, while the Oceaneer Lab is about learning while having fun.

They are separate spaces but are connected by a closed corridor. Your child can move from one space to the other via this corridor. If they need help, the Counsellor will accompany them!

From character-driven performances and special story-telling sessions to larger-than-life play areas and dress-up opportunities, your kids will be delighted to step into a world inhabited by some of their favorite characters.

The Oceaneer Club-themed play spaces include:

  • Andy’s Room
  • Disney Infinity Game Room
  • Pixie Hollow
  • Star Wars: Millennium Falcon
  • Star Wars: Command Post
  • Star Wars: Cargo Bay
  • Marvel Super Hero Academy
  • Disney Junior
  • Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck
  • Frozen Adventures
  • Fairytale Hall.

They also provide one-of-a-kind guided group activities to add more enchantment and fantasy:

  • Disney’s Once Upon a Time
  • Puzzle Playtime with Mickey and Friends
  • Jedi Training: Experience the Force
  • Woody’s Round Up
  • Doctor Strange: Defy the Dark Dimension
  • Thor Becoming Worthy
  • Mickey and the Roadster Racers
  • Disney Royal Academy

  • Walt Disney Imagineering Lab.

Disney Oceaneer’s Lab

You will probably find that your children want to spend every possible moment in the Kids Clubs! There are lots of organized activities, but if your children want to be independent that is fine too.

You can see the daily schedule for the day on the Navigator so you can plan if your child wants to do a particular activity.

The only times that you can spend time in the Oceaneers Clubs as a parent is during Open House. Look at your Navigators for when these times are scheduled.

disney cruise youth club for tweens

From highly interactive spaces and games to crazy experiments and all kinds of activities, Disney Oceaneer’s Lab is dedicated to exploration and designed just for kids. The Disney Oceaneer’s Lab-themed play spaces include:

  • Animator’s Studio
  • Craft Studio
  • The Wheelhouse
  • Captain’s Workshop.

They also provide one-of-a-kind guided group activities to add more discovery and learning:

  • Get the Hook!
  • Piston Cup Challenge
  • Anyone Can Cook
  • Super Sloppy Science with Professor Make-O-Mess
  • What Goes Up
  • Zootopia Mystery Trek
  • Stitch’s Space Goo
  • Disney Pals Pajama Party.

Disney Cruise Edge

disneywonderedge

The Edge is for those aged 11 to 14.

Note that whilst there used to be an overlap for kids aged 11 and 12 who could choose to go either to Oceaneers or Edge, this is no longer then case. There is no flexibility with the ages groups.

My children have all formed some long-lasting friendships with people who they met in Disney Cruise Edge because of how the space on each ship is designed to appeal to that age group.

There is a lot of interaction with the Disney counselors for this age group, with an emphasis on smaller groups!

Disney Cruise Edge is designed for tweens to engage in cool and engaging daily activities such as:

  • That’s Hilarious
  • Heroes and Villains
  • Crowning of the Couch Potato
  • A Pirate’s Life for Me
  • Descendant’s Den DJ Spin Off.

From karaoke to video games, puzzles, challenges, and scavenger hunts to arts and crafts, there is something to appeal to all in this Disney Cruise Kids Club age group.

That’s not to mention that Disney characters also visit the Kids Clubs at certain times!

disney cruise youth club for tweens

Disney Kids Clubs Vibe

disneywondervibe

Disney Kids Club Vibe is for teens aged from 14 to 17.

To access the Vibe on the Disney Fantasy and the Dream, teenagers have to have their own key card which is specially coded.

On the Disney Magic and the Wonder, the loft-inspired space is in the forward Funnel.

The Disney Fantasy and Dream have wonderful indoor and outdoor spaces that might even make you wish you were a teenager again!

Lastly, the different spaces on the Disney Dream Class ships are perfect for teens to hang out and make friends.

disney cruise youth club for tweens

Vibe is a teen-exclusive haven where your kids can chill out, watch TV, listen to music, play group games, and more with cruisers their age. It is fully equipped with multiple flat-screen TVs, video games, board games, and tablets.

From catching some rays to day-and-night dance parties, Vibe also hosts a range of daily fun-filled activities that include:

  • Teen Download
  • Vibe Movie Makers

Is There a Kids Club on Castaway Cay?

Yes, Disney has thought of everything. There is even a Kids Club on their private island Castaway Cay .

When the ship docks in Castaway Cay they can still use the Kids Clubs on board.

However, there is also a place on the island where they can be looked after by the Disney Counsellors. This is a more convenient option if you are planning to spend some of the time with the kids on Castaway Cay, as you don’t have to go back to the ship to collect them.

Scuttle’s Cove is available to any child aged 3 to 10 who is registered with the Kids Clubs.

castawaycaydisneyprivateislandbanamas

What is there to do on Castaway Cay?

How To Register for the Disney Cruise Kids Clubs

For any of the kid’s clubs on a Disney Cruise, you do need to register your child.

The easiest way to do this is online. You will have the option to do this once you have paid in full for your cruise.

It does save some time if you do this prior to your cruise.

You can also do this at the terminal on embarkation day. The lines do tend to be quite long for this, but it can keep you occupied whilst you wait for your boarding party to be called.

theedgeondisneyfantasycruisship

You will fill out all the paperwork (it doesn’t take long). You will then get a Disney Cruise Line Youth Activities Magic Band for each child.

This has to be handed back at the end of the cruise or you will be charged.

You can keep the Magic Band as a souvenir if you want, but you will be charged $12.95.

disneykidsclubmagiband

When you get on board the ship there will be an open house.

You can tour all the kid’s clubs at this time – it is a great opportunity to see what is available.

Disney Cruise Lines has a downloadable PDF for younger cruisers so that they can know what to expect on the cruise.

It has some good information and includes some coloring pages that younger children may like.

Safety and Security Measures of the Kids Clubs

Parents can download the Navigator’s App and use it to directly contact the youth counselors at any given time.

Counselors cannot give any medication to your child, but there is a trained First Aid Cast Member in the Nursery at all times.

At Disney Cruise kids clubs, each child has a wristband for identification. These spaces are secure because only adults who you authorize can collect your child and they have to know the password.

Tips for Parents

To give your children the best Disney Cruise kids club experience, we’ve rounded up some of the most practical tips that parents can use in planning their perfect Disney Cruise vacation:

  • Familiarize yourself with the corresponding Disney Cruise kids club ages to find out the best options for your child
  • Explore the different clubs and attend the open houses with your children during their specified times
  • Make sure to provide diapers, wipes, and pull-ups if your child is not potty-trained
  • Use the family playtime hours (8 AM – 9 AM) in the nursery as an opportunity to spend quality time with your toddlers
  • Quiet spaces and movie rooms are always available if your kids need to take a break or a nap!

Disney Cruise Kids Clubs – Final Thoughts

disneycruisekidsclub

The Kid’s Clubs on all of the Disney Ships are excellent.

The environment is well designed, the Counsellors are wonderful and the mix between scheduled activities and free choice of things to do is just right.

Most kids will love it. And parents too!

You do have to be prepared so that your child may not want to spend much time with you! Other children, never really take to it and won’t want to spend time there.

It just depends on the individual.

My eldest, who is now an adult, never really wanted to spend time there. My two sons would spend all the time they possibly could in the kid’s clubs.

Be prepared for either scenario!

One thing which is particularly great about the kid’s clubs is that my sons have formed lasting friendships with people who they have met on the Disney Cruises. It can be a wonderful bonding experience.

Is a 2 year old able to play in Andy’s Room on the Fantasy, with his parents of course, during Open House? Is there an Open House for this room, guess is apart of Oceaneers Club, everyday? Many thanks!

Sunday 14th of January 2024

Yes you can take your 2 year old to the Open House. They are usually scheduled every day and you will find out the time on your Navigator App

Sunday 23rd of July 2023

This may seem a silly question but we're doing our first cruise soon and my child will be 3 1/2. She's worried about how she asks me to come and get her if she's not having fun or she misses me? Do you know what the process is for them letting parents know that a kid wants/needs to be collected? I don't want to be going back every 1/2 hour to check she's ok, but I also want to be able to tell her the plan to reassure her that she won't be stuck there if she's not feeling comfortable

Wednesday 26th of July 2023

Don't worry! The Cast Members at the Kids Club are very aware that this can happen. You will be contacted by text if they need to collect here. You can also spend some time with her at the Open Houses that they have so that she feels more comfortable.

Friday 9th of June 2023

I was wondering what, if any, separation there is in the younger (3 to 12 yr.) club space? We are planning a cruise next year and my daughter will be 4. I want her to have fun in the club space, but if she is around 9, 10, 11, year olds, I can foresee there being possible issues, given the age and size gap. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you.

Sunday 11th of June 2023

The are different spaces for each age Group so all kids are with the same age Groups. On all the ships there is a corridor connecting the spaces, but this is more for the older children to use so they can go between the different areas if they want. At 4 years old she would be with her own age Group. Disney Kids Clubs really are the best at sea.

Tuesday 24th of January 2023

Just got off magic. They do not feed your kids anything in the kids club. FYI.

Thomas Carter

Wednesday 25th of January 2023

@Sarah, do you know if they just flat don’t allow eating and drinking there or can I drop off quick food instead of having to pull him out? Also, my son doesn’t have a cell phone. Is there a way for kids to communicate with their parents besides giving them their own device with the navigator app?

Going on the Wonder to Alaska in May for 7 days as my first cruise with a 10 year old and 8 month infant

Thursday 12th of January 2023

Thanks for this post. My only question… Is eating at the kids club for lunch and dinner available every day? I thought I read elsewhere that it was only select days.

Thanks for all the other info. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Monday 16th of January 2023

I don't believe that lunch and dinner in the Kids Clubs is an option at the moment.

Filled with bright, colorful furniture, on the Disney Wish, this teen hangout is inspired by a chic New York City loft with a sunny overhead skylight effect. Graphic art is displayed throughout which will make for the perfect Instagram-worthy photos alongside the new friends made. On the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, the hangout is given a basement-inspired feel and is designed to look like an old boiler room. And on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, the spot features an illuminated dance floor, karaoke machines, and more.

For those voyagers who are slightly older, Vibe is the place to be. Reserved for those aged between 14 and 17, guests can meet new friends, play games, watch movies, and participate in fun activities created specifically for this age group. On the Disney WIsh, Vibe is inspired by a Parisian artists’ loft, featuring colorful graffiti, pop art murals, and other architectural elements. Plus, the Disney-inspired travel posters scattered throughout make for the perfect touch.

On the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, the hangout is located in the red Forward Funnel of the ship, an open-plan lounge with video games, flat-screen TVs, and board games. On the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, Vibe is part nightclub and part sundeck, located on an outdoor deck space. Here, Vibe is intended to feel like a hip urban night spot with a secret entrance and a high-tech media room.

The Hideaway

The Disney Wish is the only Disney Cruise Line ship that offers a third tween-exclusive spot: The Hideaway! This spot is the first of its kind, designed specifically for the fifth ship in the fleet. The new hip hangout is reserved for kids and young adults, allowing them to meet new friends as they dance the night away. The posh setting will help tweens feel as if they are adults hanging out at a nightclub. Sing your favorite song on the karaoke machine or put her dance moves to the test as you can complete in dance competitions.

Per Disney Parks Blog , “No matter where they choose to be, tweens and teens are in for a whole “llama” fun during customized, counselor-led programming designed to engage their unique interests, such as a hilarious new competition themed to the fan-favorite Walt Disney Animation Studios’ film, ‘The Emperor’s New Groove’.”

Oceaneer Club and Lab

Must be toilet trained!!!

Oceaneer Club/Lab is an activity center designed for kids 3 to 12 years old located on Deck 5, Midship on all four ships (Magic, Wonder, Dream & Fantasy). The operating hours varies occasionally but it’s normally from 9am till midnight better check your personal navigator daily for the exact operating hours of the club.

Oceaneer Club on Disney Wonder has a theme derived from the film Peter Pan, it resembles Captain Hook’s pirate ship straight out of Never Land. The televisions were embedded on what looks like a treasure chests, lamps that looks like the barrels, hanging ropes, wooden planks and a glistening fiber-optic night sky.

Disney’s Oceaneer Club provides a safe environment, where children can play and learn and interact with other children. They have different settings areas where children can play autonomously with toys and games, an area for arts and crafts, and even for watching movies.

On Disney Dream & Fantasy, Oceaneer Club/Lab have a different setting. Both ships have a central rotunda and each serves as the main gathering area of the club, it also leads to four different portals to the other themed rooms in the club. The rotunda also serves as the main stage for the children where they can use as a dance floor, theatrical plays, story telling and a place where they meet and greet the characters. It is also equipped with a wide screen plasma TV where they can also watch movies and interact with Crush the turtle.

Themed Spaces

Branching from the Central Rotunda Oceaneer’s Club of Disney Dream & Fantasy has 4 themed rooms:

Andy’s Room – inspired from the movie, Toy Story. Monster Academy – inspired fro the movie, Monster Inc. Pixie Hollow – inspired from the movie Tinkerbelle and Fairies Explorer Pods – is a Nemo Sub, inspired from the movie Finding Nemo

On Disney Magic, Oceaneer Club/Lab has been newly refurbished, they added new features and theme. Compared to Disney Dream and Fantasy, the central gathering place in Disney Magic is designed like a library and has 4 themed “Storybook Worlds”:

Andy’s Room – inspired by the Toy Story movie. Marvel’s Avengers Academy – inspired by the comic book Marvel’s and the Super Heroes. Mickey Mouse Club Pixie Hollow – inspired by Disney Fairies animated film.

On Disney Wonder, the setup is similar to the Disney Magic and designed like a library and with 4 themed “Storybook Worlds”:

Andy’s Room – inspired by the Toy Story movie. Marvel’s Super Hero Academy – inspired by the comic book Marvel’s and the Super Heroes. Frozen Adventures – modeled after Frozen’s Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post Club Disney Junior

How do I register my child? You can register your child at the terminal during check-in or directly at the club once you board the ship. You can also pre-register online under “My Cruise Plans” once your online check-in becomes available for you for Castaway Cay silver level you can do so in 90 days prior, Gold members 105 days and Platinum 120 days prior to sailing date. For first time cruisers you can pre-register in 75 days prior. Children with special needs, food restrictions and allergies can be accommodated at the club. Just indicate it in your registration forms and notify the staff, and they will make special arrangements. Although they can’t provide one-on-one care, they will do the best they can.

On embarkation day at the terminal, parents and child(ren) need to be present at check-in. Parents will fill out final paperwork and children will receive a wristband indicating that they belong to the Oceaneer Club/Lab aboard the ship. Once on board, parents are welcomed in the club during the open house day (embarkation day) to tour the club, meet the counselors and learn the many activities offered on board for their child.

What is a wristband? Children registered at the Oceaneer Club/Lab are given wristbands that must be worn throughout the duration of your cruise. It is a water and sand proof device and securely attach to your child’s wrists or ankle depending on what you think will be comfortable for your child. It has a black or red clip (medical alert, dietary references) attached to securely hold the bands. Upon registration you will be automatically charged $12.50/registered child on your portfolio for the bands. At the end of the cruise the fee will be reimbursed upon return of the band. You can also keep it for souvenir or future use.

The wristband is used to check in/out your child at the kids club, the same process is also used at Castaway cay’s Scuttles Cove. The wristband uses a RFID – Radio Frequency Identification technology. Any child who uses certain medical device must check their device manufacturer or ask your physician if there may be possible unwanted interferences as a result of the RF transmitters embedded in the bands. Additional information about RFID please click on the link: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/my-disney-experience/frequency-technology/

The wristband when scanned will provide all your child’s vital information including any medical alert, food references and allergies, a red clip will be attached to your child’s band to alert the staff. This will also allow the Youth Club Staffs to have an accurate count of children in the club and be able to locate them while in the club premises.

Can my child check in/out by him/herself? Children ages 8 – 12 with parent’s permission can check in and out by themselves. Without the parent’s authorization they can’t leave the club. A parent must drop their child and at pick-up they need to say the password they provided at the time of registration.

Children are offered lunch and dinner at the club and for those who do not want to join, activities are still ongoing during meal times. This is the perfect time for parents wishing to eat at the adult’s only restaurant on board. There is also a “Dine and Play” program for the families dining on second seating just let your server know that you will be participating in Dine And Play. In Dine and Play program, the children receive their meals earlier and then the youth counselors will come and pick them up from the dining room and escort them to the kids club. This allows parents to enjoy their dinner at their own pace.

What is there for Tweens and teens on the Disney Cruise line?

I know that we have been talking about the different youth activities that your children can enjoy on the Disney cruise line.  I was concerned that my 14 year old would not be able to find activities that he would enjoy .  There are two great clubs just for teens and tweens.

DSCF0723

There is a special lounge available exclusively to tweens-children (11 to 14 years of age.) It is called Edge.

On Disney’s Magic and Wonder there is an interactive space that is designed to look like the ship’s bridge.  This is where you can steer a virtual ship, play videogames, watch television and participate in arts and crafts. There is also karaoke, scavenger hunts and special themed nights. The space features kid-friendly computers, videogame consoles with the latest games and plush couches for relaxing with new friends.

DSCF0728

On the Dream and Fantasy you have hi-tech entertainment including an illuminated dance floor, notebook computers and a state-of-the-art video wall stretching 18 feet long and nearly 5 feet tall with 18 individual LCD screens. Edge’s prime location offers views of the pool decks below with portholes providing silhouetted views of  Aqua Duck  riders as they zoom through the water coaster. Plus thanks to green screen rooms, kids can superimpose their image in both photo postcards and video karaoke.  Tyler loved it!!  I was a little apprehensive because you do not sign your child in, they are free to come and go as they pleased.  One of the counselors told us that to use the wave phones that are in the stateroom to be able to keep in contact with your not so little one.

DSCF0769

The teen only club is called Vibe .  This is an exclusive space for those ages 14 through 17. Here you can listen to music, watch television, play videogames or take part in a number of other activities which are chaperoned by cast counselor. The Wonder and Magic are designed to resemble a college dorm recreation room or hip urban coffee shop.  There are plush couches, a dance floor, a mirrored wall and a bar with stools. This club offers the opportunity for teens to socialize with the peers.  With flat-screen televisions, videogames, board games, DVD players and a wide range of fun activities like dance parties and karaoke.

DSCF0770

On the Fantasy and Dream this club is set up as an indoor/outdoor lounge.  It has the look and feel of a hip urban coffee shop and stylish nightclub with movable furniture and cushy chairs to relax in style. This club features a coffee bar; multi-screen video wall and a media room for catching a movie on a 103-inch LCD screen with digital surround sound. A lighted, multi-color disco floor and video wall set the stage for dance parties, where aspiring DJs can spin and mix tracks. For a laid-back experience, teens can recline in individual nooks and watch a personal video screen or play video games. There is also a private outdoor deck, which provides fun in the sun with mod chairs, and chaise lounges for sunbathing plus “splash” pools, fountains to cool off. There are also deck games such as Ping-Pong, foosball and a giant checkerboard.

DSCF0775

When you think of all the activities that teens and tweens can do, you know that they will enjoy cruising just as much as you will.

Revised Age Ranges Rolling out for Disney Cruise Line’s Youth Activity Spaces

In an email to guests booked on upcoming cruises, Disney Cruise Line is sharing an update on revised age ranges for Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab.

DCL Youth Activity Space Age Range Update 20231215 1

Based on guest feedback, and to enhance the youth activities experience for the youngest and tween guests , Disney Cruise Line is updating the age ranges effective on sailings that depart on or after December 21, 2023, revised age ranges for Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab is as follows:

The age range in Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab will change from 3 to 12 years of age to 3 to 10 years of age . Kids of all ages can continue to experience these spaces during Open House hours.

During all other times, kids 3 to 10 years of age will have Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab reserved just for them, with specially guided activities for children ages 3-4 years old.

As for EDGE and Vibe , Disney Cruise Line’s email states the following:

Children 11 and 12 years of age may visit Edge. Edge will continue to be available to tweens 11 to 14 years of age.

Vibe will continue to provide Guests ages 14 to 17 with their own special place where they can connect with other teens.

If you have a child within this age range and have already completed online registration for Disney’s Oceaneer Club or Disney’s Oceaneer Lab, know that your child will attend Edge. Guests with children 3 to 10 years of age may continue to utilize the online youth activities registration process as part of Online Check-in.

While NOT included in the email, I have independently confirmed the change is also effective for Scuttle’s Cove at Castaway Cay which will also change from 3 to 12 years of age to 3 to 10 years of age .

Must have younger kids.

' src=

Why did this make this change?

' src=

According to the email, “Based on guest feedback, and to enhance the youth activities experience for the youngest and tween guests”

' src=

Please consider there are inequities and inaccessibilities with this change for children with disabilities.

Best way to share this is to use the following contact form on DCL’s website.

https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/help/email/

' src=

such as what?

' src=

It’s too bad this isn’t an optional change where parents can choose where they want their 11 or 12 year old to go. Some 11 year olds still need the structure of the “younger” clubs.

' src=

Completely agree. I don’t like the idea that the kids in vibe need to use the bathroom outside of the club and can check in and out by themselves. I don’t feel comfortable going on Disney cruise anymore. After reed this, my last cruise is going to be July 2024 because is already booked. The last one ☝️

' src=

Likely staffing issues. Disney can do better

' src=

Likely the lawsuit .

' src=

This case was between a 3 year old and a 7 year old which the courts found the reported assault didn’t occur per video evidence. That has nothing to do with 11 and 12 year olds being part of the kid’s club.

' src=

Our last cruise was the only time I have EVER been disappointed in DCL. My twins were 12 and they had been looking forward to visiting Ocean-ears Lab one more time after every cruise we had booked from 2020-2022 was cancelled.

They went from being 9 to 12 years old in the time we were unable to sail, but still had a very fond place in their hearts and minds for the adventures they had and friends they made in both Club & Lab. Unfortunately the cast members there were so unwelcoming to my kiddos and repeated made them feel uncomfortable when all they wanted to do was color, see some characters and go down the slide in Andy’s room. This lead to them not wanting to go into the club that they had looked forward to for three years.

Edge was of no interest to them as the Edge on DCL Wonder is a subpar club that literally looks like an afterthought put together in the closet that once was the arcade.

There are far to many other things in this world that force your kids to grow up to quickly. Why does this once magical place need to be another? I get it, kids 11 & 12 may feel “to cool” to go to club or lab but why should kids that just want to be kids a moment longer be denied the opportunity. They will be grown before we know it, why does it have to be today?

' src=

Even my 13 year old son would rather be in Oceanears club/lab. He said they have way cooler things to do, then Edge does. I also feel we should also have a choice as parents if they can check themselves out even in the Edge age group. Not all kids between 11-14 are ready to just wander the ship on their own, especially when the don’t have siblings in the same age group so can’t use the buddy system. This is partly why we do not use the clubs on Disney.

' src=

What does “specially guided activities” for 3 and 4 year olds mean? Will my 4 year old be separated from their siblings?

Edge Tween Club on Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Line announced a change in the age range for their youngest youth clubs (Oceaneer Club and Lab) which removes access for kids ages 11-12. Those ages have always had access to the tween club Edge . It’s a different design and structure for older youth. Having experienced Edge on 4 ships between January 2022 and January 2023, our son had a chance to visit the locations on all 3 current ship classes. I asked his opinions for writing this post to help other families understand and prepare for this new to them experience.

disney cruise youth club for tweens

Edge Club Overview

Disney Cruise Line has 3 youth clubs aimed at different age groups: Oceaneer for kids ages 3-10; Edge for tweens ages 11-14; and Vibe for teens ages 14-17. Edge is generally open from lunchtime to midnight with activities geared toward tweens. The activities vary from day to day and can include crafts, video games, scavenger hunts around the ship, meet ups at the sports deck, and “takeover” of the teen club, Vibe.

disney cruise youth club for tweens

One of the big differences between Edge and Oceaneer is that tweens can come and go as they please. In the Oceaneer locations, parents check kids in and out unless they have given permission for their kids to do so themselves.

Where to Find Edge

The location for Edge varies across the ship classes:

Magic Class (Magic & Wonder) – find Edge on deck 9, Midship. The space is the smallest of all the ships, but it is super convenient to drinks and snacks on the pool deck.

disney cruise youth club for tweens

Dream Class (Dream & Fantasy) – Edge has a cool hidden hangout in the foward Funnel. Access via a stairwell or, for tweens only, tap your KTTW card to take the elevator to Deck 13. The space is larger than the Magic class ships, away from the general public, and still fairly convenient to drinks and snacks.

Triton Class (Wish, Treasure, and future unnamed ship) – Edge is tucked away on Deck 5, Aft with easy access from the Aft stairs & elevators. It has the coolest space design and layout of all the ship classes. The biggest drawback is location being far from pool deck for snacks and drinks. There is soda option in club, but is canned sodas only and they run out of the day supply quickly.

Lounge space in Edge on Disney Wish with comfy chairs, tables, video screens, and large games (ie, Connect Four) for tweens to enjoy.

We highly recommend visiting Edge on your first day during Open House. This gives your tween a chance to scope out the space and maybe meet a new friend or two. You will also be able to meet a few Cast Members assigned to Youth Activities which makes them familiar faces to you and your tween.

Edge has a different feel and flow than the Oceaneer spaces. The tweens come and go at various times of the day depending on the activities, family plans, and friends they make.

disney cruise youth club for tweens

From talking to my son, there are 3 things that make for a great experience:

  • Good Cast Member team – having fun, energetic CMs that want to engage with the tweens makes the space and experience more welcoming.
  • Variety in activities – it’s not just video games. Having options and even changing up the schedule a bit depending upon interest in the club at the time makes a difference.
  • Other engaging tweens that want to participate – encourage your tween to go and join in. No, they don’t have to be the most outgoing. Find an activity or make a new friend or two. Try a new game. Who knows – maybe your tween is the Trivia champ for the cruise.

Final Thoughts

Our experiences with Edge have been very positive. It is a big change from Oceaneer. We set ground rules with our son on his first cruise where he was old enough for Edge. That established a good pattern for our future cruises. He has enjoyed a bit more freedom, hanging out with kids his age, and participating in new activities.

NEWS: Disney Cruise Line Unveils New Experiences for Kids, Tweens and Teens Aboard Disney Wish

disney cruise youth club for tweens

A high-tech starship on a mission to assist the Resistance. A nautical playground where little cadets train with the most magical captains at sea. A hip hangout with an ultra- exclusive VIP list. With the addition of Star Wars: Cargo Bay, Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck and The Hideaway, Disney Cruise Line completes an unrivaled roster of new and reimagined experiences for children of all ages coming to the Disney Wish in summer 2022. More than just highly themed spaces, these kids’ clubs will transform into living worlds through magical entertainment presented with the care and expertise of Disney-trained counselors. Learn more below.

“With even more spaces, stories and characters than ever before, the stage is set for a line-up of truly remarkable new experiences for children aboard the Disney Wish,” said Jim Urry, vice president, entertainment and port adventures, Disney Cruise Line. “We’re combining renowned Disney entertainment, expertly developed programming and imaginative storytelling to put kids in the center of their own adventures right alongside some of Disney’s most beloved characters, like Mickey Mouse, Chewbacca, Black Panther, Rapunzel, Belle, Anna and Elsa, and more.”

Disney’s Oceaneer Club

Children ages 3 to 12 will step into their favorite Disney worlds at Disney’s Oceaneer Club, a real-life wonderland featuring more stories than ever before. Previously announced spaces includeMarvel Super Hero Academy, a high-tech facility for training the next generation of heroes; Fairytale Hall, a royal trio of activity rooms inspired by Rapunzel, Belle and “Frozen” friends; and Walt Disney Imagineering Lab, a unique opportunity for kids to discover the secrets of world-renowned Disney Imagineers. Rounding out Disney’s Oceaneer Club are two brand-new spaces – Star Wars: Cargo Bay and Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck.

disney cruise youth club for tweens

New Adventures at Star Wars: Cargo Bay

The peculiar creatures and legendary characters of the Star Wars galaxy will take center stage at Star Wars: Cargo Bay. This first-of-its-kind immersive experience will place kids in the important role of creature handlers as they learn to manage a mischievous menagerie of exotic beings from across the galaxy, including a porg, Loth-cat, worrt and more. Throughout the cruise, they’ll use augmented reality-enabled datapads to track and study the creatures on a series of special assignments. But there’s more to this job than meets the dianoga eye: The new crew will actually be joining an important mission to deliver a pair of secret stowaways, Rey and Chewbacca, back to the Resistance.

During the interactive “Star Wars: Creature Challenge” experience, the newly minted caretakers will be put to the test as they help feed the lifelike creatures and encounter some of the most dangerous beings in the galaxy. When things go awry, they’ll need to call on the expertise of Rey and Chewbacca — and even channel the Force — to secure the ship from destruction.

A Celebration of Exploration at Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck

Specially designed for the youngest sailors at Disney’s Oceaneer Club, Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck is a nautical playground inspired by the colors, icons and magic of Disney Cruise Line. This brand-new space will be filled with an array of maritime-themed physical and sensory-style games and activities, such as pipe slides and crawl-throughs, ship’s wheels, “busy boxes” fashioned as ship controls and cushy life preserver seating areas.

When little cadets enter the space, they’ll set sail on a fun-filled adventure and enjoy quality play time with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse themselves. At select times throughout the voyage, the space will be open to little ones’ families for group play, and the toddlers from It’s a Small World Nursery will also get dedicated access to the club to explore, learn and play with Mickey and Minnie.

The signature experience will be “Minnie’s Captain Academy,” a high-energy training session for kids to exercise their bodies (through playful games, dancing and maritime “drills”) and their minds, testing their imagination and ingenuity during a series of challenges tied to STEAM principles (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics). Captain Minnie will inspect their progress and officially declare them honorary captains!

disney cruise youth club for tweens

Quality Play Time with Super Heroes, Princesses and “Frozen” Friends

At Disney’s Oceaneer Club, kids will have more opportunities than ever to have fun with Disney characters during expertly developed games and programs – and when characters stop by, they will stay to play. Like “ Star Wars: Creature Challenge” and “Minnie’s Captain Academy,” each space will offer uniquely interactive, memorable experiences that are exclusive to Disney Cruise Line.

At Marvel Super Hero Academy, young recruits will join a hands-on training session with Ant-Man and The Wasp, who will teach them how to create and test their very own Pym Particles, the technology that allows these heroes to shrink and grow objects (and themselves).

Also at Marvel Super Hero Academy, kids will team up with the masterminds from Pym Technologies and Wakandan Design Group — including a special appearance by Black Panther — to thwart Taskmaster’s evil plan to hack into the academy’s system and steal the world’s most advanced hero tech.

When the hub of Disney’s Oceaneer Club transforms into the Snuggly Duckling tavern from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Tangled,” kids will have the best day ever with Rapunzel and Flynn Rider as they embark on a scavenger hunt to recover the missing pieces of the Snuggly Duckling sign.

In Belle’s Library, children will use their imaginations to create the most daring, hilarious, fantastical new story for their favorite booklover. Belle will lend her wits and her magic mirror to help determine the characters, plot and conclusion of the brand-new tale.

At Anna and Elsa’s Sommerhus, the newest citizens of Arendelle will join a special celebration of Queen

Anna’s recent coronation by acting out the history of how she became queen — taking on the roles and iconic movie moments of characters like Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff, Hans and more — before the queen, her sister and their snowman friend show up to join the fun.

More Fun for Disney’s Coolest Cruisers

Older kids will chill and play in their own way aboard the Disney Wish at trendy hangouts that combine sophisticated design with youthful Disney touches. At Edge, tweens ages 11 to 14 will have fun, make friends and play games in a bright, colorful hangout inspired by a chic New York City loft. Teens ages 14 to 17 will have their own dedicated club at Vibe, a stylish space inspired by a Parisian artists’ loft with classic architectural elements, vibrant neon signs and funky pop art.

For the first time on a Disney ship, the Disney Wish will feature a third club for tweens and teens:The Hideaway. This hip new hangout will offer older kids and young adults a chill place to relax, listen to music and more in a posh setting complete with a dance floor and DJ booth – perfect for karaoke contests and dance competitions. The Hideaway will be adorned in a vibrant color palette, retro-inspired design details, a stylized “Hiya, pal” mural and disco ball lights. Adjacent to Vibe, this flexible venue can be opened to the teen club, closed off for tween activities and even reserved especially for guests ages 18 to 20.

disney cruise youth club for tweens

All three spaces will be bursting with creative design details, comfortable lounge space, high-tech entertainment and a jam-packed schedule of can’t-miss activities.

Edge will boast an indoor solarium area with a sunny overhead skylight effect, carpet patterned with fresh grass and daisies, a back wall mural of a bright blue sky, and games inspired by a colorful outdoor city park. Throughout the space, graphic art displays called “photo walls” will provide ample opportunities for tweens to capture cool, shareable vacation pics that will be the envy of their friends back home.

Vibe will feature regal French columns and paneled walls covered with whimsical pop art murals and colorful graffiti; a larger-than-life, brightly painted Mickey Mouse statue; and a traditional French Morris column plastered with Disney-inspired travel posters. Combine those with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean, and every angle in Vibe will offer a selfie-worthy backdrop for the trendiest teens on the high seas.

Both Edge and Vibe will offer a main lounge space with cozy furnishings, an oversized LED screen and plenty of room to hang out as a group, as well as comfortable niches for solo gaming and movie watching. Each venue will include complimentary refreshments: Edge will have a soda bar, Vibe will serve soda and coffee drinks, and The Hideaway will offer smoothies.

Boom, baby! Tweens and teens are in for a whole “llama” fun during customized, counselor-led programming designed to engage their unique interests, such as a hilarious new competition themed to the fan-favorite Walt Disney Animation Studios’ film, “The Emperor’s New Groove.” And the fun doesn’t stop there: The activities will even extend into other areas of the ship, with special events for tweens and teens hosted in Hero Zone, Luna and more.

It’s a Small World Nursery

As previously announced, cruisers ages 6 months to 3 years will be cared for at It’s a Small World Nursery, where babysitting services will be provided in a whimsical environment inspired by the beloved Disney attraction of the same name. Here, little ones will play games, make crafts, watch movies, read books and spend time with Disney friends under the expert care of Disney-trained counselors.

Maiden Voyage and Inaugural Season

The Disney Wish will sail its maiden voyage on June 9, 2022, followed by a season of three- and four-night cruises to Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, from Port Canaveral, Florida.

To learn more about the Disney Wish or to book a vacation, guests can visitdisneycruise.com, call Disney Cruise Line at 888-325-2500 or contact their travel agent.

Disney Cruise With Tweens: What Is It Like?

So what is that like cruising with tweens?

Will it be just you and your new Christmas mug at a trivia because your tween forgot about it? Possibly…

Disney Cruise with Tweens

Will you sign up for all available tastings because all your tween wants to do is hang out with her new friends? Maybe…

Disney Cruise with Tweens

It is if you are traveling with just you and your tween, like me.

If you are traveling with your partner and a tween then it is perfect: you get plenty of one-on-one time while the tween is hanging out with the new friends, and then enjoy family time during dinner.

Let’s look at how the tweens will be spending their time on the Disney Cruise.

Table of Contents

You will find the Edge, a hangout place for kids ages 11-14, on all ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet.

Unlike the Oceaneer Club, you don’t need to sign up your tween for the activities at the Edge. They can come and go as they please.

The layout of the Edge on Magic and Wonder is different from Fantasy and Dream, but you can expect games, a large TV screen, a dance floor, and a crafts area in all locations.

Disney Cruise with Tweens

Our recent cruise on Disney Magic was our first cruise since my daughter was old enough to attend the Edge.

I found the club area rather small, and it felt like the tweens got shafted: the Oceaneers Club ( ages 3-12) is the state of the art facility and just look at the Vibe, the teen club (ages 14-17):

Disney Cruise with Tweens

But don’t worry, the tweens will still have a blast!

Hours of Operation

The Edge hours of operation vary (see a sample schedule below), but the club usually has an open house, when anyone can visit, for a  few hours a day, and then they are open for tweens only.

Disney Cruise with Tweens

The Edge is offering a variety of activities from Mario Cart tournaments to crafts. Though the counselors might have a plan, a lot depends on attendance and level of participation.

Here is a sample of activities at the Edge:

Disney Cruise with Tweens

"Ice Breakers" on the first day of the cruise is a great way to meet new friends

My daughter’s favorite activity was a scavenger hunt when girls vs boys teams were running around the ship taking selfies with the objects on the hunt list. She also enjoyed trivia, and, clearly, bracelet making.

Disney Cruise with Tweens

A Disney Cruise is a perfect opportunity for tweens to explore their independence: there are plenty of activities to participate in with their new friends, while you can have peace of mind knowing they will be safe.

Check out the daily activities schedules from our cruise here .

My daughter made quite a few friends within her very first hour at the Edge. For the rest of the cruise, her day looked something like this:

The girls would start a group chat (see more on the chat below) right after breakfast and decide to meet, usually somewhere on the pool deck. If the Edge was not open, they would look for activities to strike their fancy or just hang out by the pool watching movies while eating pizza and ice cream.

Some of my daughter’s favorite activities were:

  • Trivia contests
  • Evening shows
  • Other games (she won the Generation Quest, and I wasn’t there to witness it 😢)

Disney Cruise Line Chat

Disney is switching to all things digital, and the cruise line is no exception. There are no more Wave phones in the cabins. The best way to communicate with your tween while they are out and about, and for them to get in touch with their new friends is to use the Onboard Chat function in the Disney Cruise app.

The tweens don’t need to create an account to use the Disney Cruise app. Once the phone is connected to the ship’s Wi-Fi, you can use the app just by entering your cabin number and last name.

You will need to give the tween permission to use the chat function.

Disney Cruise with Tweens

Final Thoughts

My daughter absolutely loved cruising as a tween. She did like the Oceneers Club on the previous cruises, but she didn’t spend too much time there as she felt some of the activities were geared more towards the younger kids. But the tween club was a game-changer for her: she enjoyed the activities, and she had fun exploring the ship with her new friends. She still keeps in touch with her “cruise” friends.

Now when I ask my daughter where we should go on our next adventure, her only answer is “Disney Cruise!”.

I, on other hand, need to work on convincing friends to come with us on the next Disney cruise, so I don’t spend most of the time on the ship alone.

6 best Alaska cruises for families

MSN has partnered with The Points Guy for our coverage of credit card products. MSN and The Points Guy may receive a commission from card issuers.

Adorable sled dog puppies, graceful whales, fascinating totem poles, crazy lumberjacks, majestic glaciers — Alaska has much to offer families of all ages. But if you’re looking for the best Alaska cruise for kids, which ship should you choose?

Families have great choices when sailing up north, including a ship full of Disney characters, one with laser tag and a go-kart race track and many with expansive play spaces for kids, waterslides and family-focused onboard activities. Look for bigger ships with plenty of amusements; smaller and older ships might not have as many kid-friendly attractions.

I’m not mentioning luxury cruise ships here because they are geared for adults, but families looking for a more upscale, smaller-ship cruise to Alaska should know that many high-end lines will put on some kid programming during summer-break cruises to Alaska with a higher-than-usual number of children on board.

For cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up for TPG’s cruise newsletter .

If you’re ready to cross Alaska off your bucket list, here are our recommendations for the best Alaska cruises for families.

7-night Alaska Adventure cruise on Quantum of the Seas

The 4,180-passenger Quantum of the Seas is not one of Royal Caribbean ’s largest-in-the-world Oasis Class ships that boast zip lines, ice skating rinks and AquaTheaters. But it still offers a great mix of activities, including a skydiving simulator, high-tech theater with robotic “dancing” screens, an escape room, indoor basketball court/bumper car pavilion and dedicated spaces for both kids and adults.

Kids can gobble up hot dogs and pizza at themed eateries, while adults can enjoy date night at Wonderland with its imaginative molecular gastronomy or Jamie’s Italian, created by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.

Seven-night Alaska cruises sail round-trip from the easily accessible port of Seattle and visit Sitka, Skagway and Juneau, Alaska; as well as Victoria, British Columbia. One day is spent cruising through the scenic Endicott Arm to Dawes Glacier. Sailings depart between late April and September.

7-night Alaska cruise on Disney Wonder

Disney Cruise Line ‘s 1,754-passenger Disney Wonder (which can carry 2,713 guests when completely full) is the perfect size ship for a family cruise to Alaska. It’s smaller than many of the megaships catering to families in this part of the world, so guests can view glaciers and enjoy shore excursions without feeling too crowded.

The ship is full of Disney magic — photo ops with Mickey and friends and Disney princesses, restaurants themed to “The Little Mermaid” and “The Princess and the Frog” and a musical stage show of “Frozen.”

Cabins are thoughtfully designed for families, with plentiful bunkbeds and split bathrooms so two people can get ready for bed at once. Waiters assist with cutting up food for little cruisers or bringing pureed baby food, and the imaginative kids clubs keep little ones happily occupied when you’re not exploring in port.

Disney Wonder’s weeklong Alaska cruises sail round-trip from Vancouver, so all Americans, even kids, will need passports to fly in to the departure port. The ship visits Juneau, Ketchikan and either Skagway or Icy Strait Point, with glacier viewing at the Stikine Icecap. Seasonal sailings run May to September.

7-night Alaska cruise on Carnival Spirit

Carnival Cruise Line ’s Alaska cruises aboard the 2,124-guest Carnival Spirit might not be the cheapest sailings the line offers, but you get a lot for your money. Families will appreciate not having to pay extra for kid-friendly eats at the onboard pizzeria, Mexican outlet, Guy Fieri’s burger joint and all-day soft serve ice cream station. Comedy shows (both family-friendly and adults-only), an onboard water park, mini-golf and kid, tween and teen clubs are also included in the fare.

Cabins are no-frills but tend to be roomier than comparable cabins on competitors’ ships. Many rooms sleep four, but connecting cabins will get you more space and an extra bathroom while still keeping the family together.

Carnival Spirit spends summers in Alaska from late April to mid-September. It sails round-trip from Seattle and visits Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan and Victoria, BC, with scenic cruising in Tracy Arm Fjord.

Related: Best time to cruise Alaska

7-night Glacier Bay cruise on Norwegian Encore

Norwegian Cruise Line offers one of the longest cruise seasons in Alaska, and Norwegian Encore is based in the region from April through October each year. This might not help the typical family, but if your kids are young, you homeschool or have atypical breaks, a shoulder-season deal might be waiting for you.

The 3,998-passenger ship is NCL’s biggest, and families will be amazed at how much there is to do on board (though be prepared to pull out your credit card for the best activities). The ship features a laser tag arena, go-kart race track, virtual reality pavilion and water park.

Norwegian is also known for its entertainment, and after a day hiking on glaciers or chowing down at salmon bakes, you can take in the spectacular “Choir of Man,” sing along to the Beatles tribute show at The Cavern Club, or laugh yourself silly at The Social Comedy Club.

Like many of the best Alaska cruises for families, Norwegian Encore sails round-trip from Seattle, stopping in Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan and Victoria. The standout day on this itinerary is scenic cruising in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve , which only a limited number of ships can visit each year. Save more by taking advantage of Free at Sea perks , which often include a free beverage package, Wi-Fi, shore excursion credit, specialty dining and — perfect for families — free third and fourth guests in each cabin.

7-night Voyage of the Glaciers cruise on Royal Princess

Families with a little more vacation time might want to tack a visit to the Alaskan interior before or after their cruise, either independently or with a cruisetour. For this, you’ll need a one-way cruise that begins or ends in an Alaskan port.

A top candidate for this kind of family vacation is a seven-night cruise on Princess Cruises ‘ Royal Princess sailing between Vancouver and Whittier, Alaska. The ship stops in Ketchikan, Juneau and either Skagway or Sitka, with scenic cruising in Glacier Bay and either College Fjord or Hubbard Glacier, depending on the itinerary.

It’s then up to you whether you spend you pre- or post-cruise time in the Kenai Fjord area, in Anchorage or traveling north to Denali National Park, Fairbanks or into the Arctic.

Royal Princess is known for its fan-favorite Alfredo’s pizza, Movies Under the Stars (when the Alaskan weather permits) and snacks and entertainment in the central Piazza. With its special North to Alaska activities, families can cuddle some adorable sled dogs on board the ship and meet Iditarod winners and other notable locals. Kids can become junior rangers with the help of the park rangers who come aboard the ship in Glacier Bay.

7-night Kids in Nature cruise on Wilderness Legacy

Suppose your family isn’t into the big-ship lifestyle and wants a small-ship, off-the-beaten-path experience that’s also geared toward families with kids and teens? In that case, the best family cruise to Alaska for you might be the “Kids in Nature” departures of UnCruise Adventures ’ 86-passenger Wilderness Legacy.

The ship sails round-trip from Juneau on “Glaciers & Wildlife” itineraries. These seven-night cruises include hiking and biking on Chichagof Island, daytime and evening kayak and skift tours in places like Patterson Bay and Robert and Crow Islands, exploring Glacier Bay’s less-visited “Outback” and visits to the LeConte and Baird Glaciers.

On three departure dates in June and July 2024, the Wilderness Legacy will staff up with “Kid Wranglers” who will lead the kid-focused activities. The minimum age to sail is 8 years old, but plenty of tweens and teens join the fun as well.

Bottom line

You no longer have to wait until you’re retired to explore Alaska. Take the kids on a weeklong exploration of the 49th State, and you’ll have plenty of cruise ships and itineraries to choose from. The best Alaska cruises for families combine action-packed itineraries with vessels designed for family fun, but we’re sure your family can find a way to have a great time up north no matter which cruise ship you choose.

Out to Sea and Overseas: AAA Travel’s Spring Break Trends

Cruises and international trips on the rise; florida tops list of domestic destinations.

aaa disney cruise packages

WASHINGTON, DC (Feb. 26, 2024) – If there’s one place that defines Spring Break, it’s Florida! AAA Travel booking data shows the Sunshine State tops the list of Spring Break destinations this year. Atlantic and Gulf Coast beaches, family-friendly attractions, and cruise ports make Florida a logical choice for travelers seeking fun in the sun.

“Orlando is the top choice for Spring Break travelers, while Fort Lauderdale and Miami are the two most popular domestic cruise ports,” said Paula Twidale, Senior Vice President of AAA Travel. “Many travelers are looking for warm weather, pools and beaches, and outdoor adventures this time of year, and cruise vacations check all those boxes.”

Cruising is off to a splashy start in 2024 with sold-out ships and inaugural sailings, and that strong demand is evident in Spring Break bookings. AAA Travel data shows a 28% increase in cruise bookings for March and April compared to last year, and a 60% percent increase for cruises departing from South Florida.

Good to Know: More travelers are booking cruises farther in advance, which is one of AAA Travel’s cruising trends this year. Many Spring Break cruises have been sold-out for months. Last-minute bookings are possible, but prices may be higher and cabin choices limited. If you miss the boat for Spring Break, AAA Travel suggests booking a summer cruise now before they sell out, especially if you’re eyeing popular destinations like Alaska.

AAA Trip Canvas Tips: For families traveling with teens, check out the best cruise lines for teenagers.

  • Best for Onboard Activities:  ROYAL CARIBBEAN
  • Best for Teen Clubs: CARNIVAL
  • Best for Families with Kids of Different Ages: DISNEY CRUISE LINE
  • Best for Recreational Tournaments: PRINCESS CRUISES
  • Best for Entertainment Options: HOLLAND AMERICA LINE
  • Best For Family Accommodations: CELEBRITY CRUISES

International Spring Break trips are also on the rise compared to last year. AAA data for March and April shows international flight bookings are up 20% and hotel bookings are up 37%.  European cities top the list of most popular destinations: London, Paris, Rome, Dublin, and Amsterdam. “More AAA members are also booking tours for their international Spring Break vacations. They want the convenience, expertise, and peace of mind that guided travel brings.”

Good to Know : Planning ahead is key when traveling internationally, and that includes reserving airport parking well in advance. For peace of mind during your trip, The Parking Spot provides a well-lit, fenced-in parking area with 24-hour staff on premises. As a bonus, select locations offer EV charging and car washes, so you return home to a clean car! The earlier you reserve at The Parking Spot, the more you save, and AAA members receive a discount.

If you plan to drive at your destination, don’t forget to obtain an International Driving Permit (IDP) before your trip. An IDP is a document that translates a valid U.S. driver’s license into several different languages. Most countries highly recommend an IDP and several countries require it. AAA is the only entity in the U.S. authorized by the State Department to issue an IDP.

The 2024 travel season kicks off with Spring Break: Where Tennesseans are heading

aaa disney cruise packages

Gloomy winter weather is on the way out and March 19, the first day of spring, is quickly approaching.

That means longer, sunnier days. It also means crowds of adventurers descending on top tourism destinations — and Tennesseans are eager to travel in 2024.

According to a new AAA travel survey, 85% of state residents will venture out of the state this year and 45% of Tennesseans are likely to travel more than last year. Nearly one in every three Tennesseans has vacation plans over Spring Break, the survey found.

The busiest travel period in 2024? March through July.

"For the Tennesseans planning a Spring Break trip, the top trips planned are to beaches, major cities, theme parks, and national/state parks," said AAA spokesperson Megan Cooper. "Florida is always a popular trip for Tennesseans and it checks a lot of boxes for those looking for the beach, Disney World, or those that are planning on departing on a cruise from one of the Florida ports."

The surge in travel will be felt on the roads and at Nashville International Airport, travel officials said.

Busiest travel days in March

Nashville International officials are preparing for higher-than-normal traffic in the airport and on nearby roads throughout the month.

The busiest days for airline passengers at BNA will be March 8, March 10, March 17 and March 31, according to Nashville International Airport.

"While record-breaking numbers aren’t anticipated, BNA anticipates an uptick in passenger traffic throughout March," said airport spokesperson Erin Thomas.

Airport preparations include increasing staff in parking garages and valet lots, expanding availability in Economy Lot C and coordinating with the Department of Public Safety to manage traffic flow on the busiest days. BNA also offers free parking for up to 30 minutes at terminal garages.

The Transportation Security Administration is adding 25 screening agents to manage the volume of passengers.

Nashville airport officials encourage drivers picking up travelers to use the cell-phone waiting lot at 1415 Murfreesboro Pike instead of clogging roads by circling the terminal.

Busier airlines also means more potential for delays and cancelations, so travelers are encouraged to arrive early and track their flight statuses via airlines and sites like FlightAware.com.

Where is everyone going for Spring Break?

Many Nashville-area travelers will spend their Spring Break in Florida — which, led by Orlando, has numerous Spring Break meccas that fill up in the second week of March.

"Orlando is the top choice for Spring Break travelers, while Fort Lauderdale and Miami are the two most popular domestic cruise ports," said Paula Twidale, senior vice president of AAA Travel.

"Many travelers are looking for warm weather, pools and beaches, and outdoor adventures this time of year, and cruise vacations check all those boxes."

Gulf Coast cities of Destin, Panama City Beach and Clearwater are popular go-to beach trips.

In addition, Americans are flocking to cruise ships this year. Cruise bookings surged 28% for March and April, compared to last year, with a 60% increase in South Florida departures, according to AAA Travel.

Cruising is up and so is global travel. Thirty percent more Americans are flying internationally this year, AAA found.

"The travel season is already off to a hot start in 2024," said AAA Vice President of Travel Debbie Haas. "More AAA members are also booking tours for their international Spring Break vacations."

Cruise lines sailing into 2024 seeing strong demand, AAA says

The cruise industry is riding a wave of strong demand into the new year.

" Travel demand is off to a strong start, which means availability will continue to shrink in the next couple of months," Debbie Haas, vice president of travel for AAA, said in a statement. "So, if you want a specific itinerary, ship or cabin type, act fast or you’ll have to start planning for next year instead."

The cruise industry’s "wave season," the three-month period beginning in January, is underway. AAA said this period is the best time to book a cruise due to discounted pricing, cabin upgrades, drink packages and more.

5 CRAZY TAKEAWAYS FROM THE WORLD'S LARGEST CRUISE LINER ‘ICON OF THE SEAS’

The demand is coming on the heels of what AAA described as "record-breaking booking days" notched by cruise lines in 2023.

In 2023, cruises were projected to collectively see passenger volumes of 31.5 million globally, according to a report from the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), a trade association that counts Carnival, Disney Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean and other lines among its members.

"We’ve seen cruise ships already sell out suites and cabins with balconies for various spring and summer itineraries," Haas said.

AAA also observed multiple cruise trends, such as an increasing number of weekend cruises, year-round European river cruises and heightened competition for Alaskan cruises.

People "may find more availability and competitive pricing by sailing during the fall and the period between spring break and summer" compared to the peak periods around school holidays, the group said.

U.S. travelers looking to sail to foreign countries may be relieved to hear getting a passport now takes less time. It has decreased to six to eight weeks for processing, according to AAA. It previously took eight to 11 weeks to receive a new passport.

NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE INTRODUCING TONS OF SOLO ROOMS FOR TRAVELERS

Ocean-going cruises will carry 36 million passengers this year, the CLIA predicted.

The cruise industry is rebounding after facing low passenger counts and restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic that began in early 2020.

If you think Disney is the most magical place on earth, keeping a Disney credit card in your wallet might help you spend more time there. With the card_name , you can earn valuable rewards on your everyday spending that will help make your next family vacation more affordable.

Here’s a look at what this Mickey-branded credit card offers and how it compares to other cash back credit cards in the Chase lineup.

Disney® Premier Visa® Card

Why we like it:, time’s take.

Whether you’re a full-blown Mouseketeer or just planning to take your family to a Disney park one day, the card_name from Chase might be right for you. In addition to fun card art, this rewards credit card offers cash back on all purchases, including the following bonus categories: Streaming services (including Disney+), gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, and Disney locations in the U.S. The card has a low annual fee, a $300 welcome bonus, and 0% APR financing on select Disney vacation packages.

Rewards redemptions are more limited than from other Chase cash back credit cards, making this a product geared explicitly toward Disney fans. With a short introductory APR period that only applies to vacation packages, the card isn’t the best choice for people looking to consolidate debt or pay off a large purchase over time.

Pros & cons

  • $300 welcome bonus
  • 0% promotional APR financing on select Disney vacation packages
  • Up to 5% cash back rewards on spending
  • $49 annual fee
  • Limited rewards redemption options
  • Highest cash back categories are on streaming services

Who is the card for?

The card_name from Chase is ideal for cardholders looking to maximize their benefits for future Disney trips. In addition to earning bonus rewards on Disney spending, it’s easy to redeem those rewards (in the form of Disney Dollars) toward Disney-related purchases. Plus, if you’re planning a Disney vacation in the future, the card offers special financing for your vacation package.

If you visit Disney regularly, shop online through the Disney store, or are planning a Disney trip in the future, this card can help you save money on upcoming expenses. You can redeem your rewards for airfare, theme-park tickets, Disney merchandise, resort stays, and more. Plus, a promotional 0% APR offer on vacation packages means that you can plan your next family vacation without worrying about finance charges.

The card_name does come with a $49 annual fee, so you’ll want to ensure that you’ll get your money’s worth before you sign up. There’s also a $300 welcome bonus offer (providing you spend $1,000 in the first three months of card ownership), which can easily offset that annual fee.

The card_name provides cardholders with up to 5% back in Disney Reward Dollars on streaming purchases (DisneyPlus.com, Hulu.com, or ESPNPlus.com). You’ll also earn 2% back on gas station, grocery store, restaurant, and U.S. Disney location purchases. Everything else earns 1% back.

You can redeem your rewards in two ways:

  • As a statement credit toward airline travel.
  • Via a Disney Rewards Redemption Card.

A Disney Rewards Redemption Card comes loaded with redeemed Disney Rewards Dollars. You can use the card to purchase most Disney items at Disney locations. You can also use the card to stock up on items at shopDisney.com or for AMC movie tickets when seeing a Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, or Marvel movie. You can get a Disney Rewards Redemption Card as soon as you’ve earned 20 Rewards Dollars, and you can reload the card anytime with at least 10 Rewards Dollars.

Once you’ve loaded your Redemption Card, your Rewards Dollars won’t expire. However, if you don’t load your rewards onto a card, they will expire five years after you earn them.

You can choose to redeem rewards toward airfare instead, with a minimum of 50 Disney Rewards Dollars (equivalent to $50 in an airline statement credit). Simply purchase an airline ticket with your card_name , then request a statement credit for that purchase within 60 days.

Welcome bonus

New cardholders can earn a welcome bonus in the form of a $300 statement credit after spending $1,000 in purchases on the card within the first three months of card ownership. This offer is only available to cardholders who haven’t earned this bonus in the last 24 months.

0% APR vacation financing

Select Disney vacation packages may be eligible for promotional 0% APR financing for up to six months. Rather than paying for your vacation in full, you can pay it off slowly over half a year without incurring any finance charges on the balance.

The financing offer is available for vacation packages booked through Walt Disney Travel Company, Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney Travel Services, Inc., through Disney websites, or select other travel agents and websites. The vacation package must be prepaid and charged to your card before you travel.

Eligible Disney vacation packages include:

  • Disney Resort packages.
  • Adventures by Disney packages.
  • National Geographic Expeditions.
  • Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, Ko Olina, Hawai'i vacation packages.
  • Disney Cruise Line packages.

After the six-month promotional APR period ends, any remaining balance is subject to a variable APR ranging from 19.24% to 28.24%.

Disney bundle credit

Use your card_name on DisneyPlus.com, Hulu.com, or ESPNPlus.com, and get up to $14.99 per month back for up to three consecutive months. Credit is available for subscriptions or bundle add-ons.

Use your card on shopDisney.com, Disney retail and outlet stores throughout the U.S., or at select locations in the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts, to save 10% off your total. The discount applies to select merchandise purchases as long as you mention the offer and present your card before paying.

The fine print

As with any credit card, it’s important to understand the fine print before you apply or use the card. This will help you limit your fees and take advantage of all available perks.

The card_name from Chase charges a $49 annual fee, which is not waived the first year. Like any rewards card with an annual fee, make sure you will earn at least enough rewards to cover it.

Interest charges

The card_name has a variable APR of between 19.24% and 28.24%, depending on creditworthiness and other factors. The APR is charged on all purchases if the statement balance isn’t paid in full each month. The only exception would be purchases eligible for the promotional 0% APR vacation package offer, but after that six-month period ends, any remaining balance becomes subject to the APR.

Promotional APR

The card’s promotional APR period can only be applied to eligible Disney vacation packages, and is only available for six months. Unfortunately, there is no introductory APR offer on new purchases or balance transfers.

Rewards redemption

You can only redeem your earned rewards as a statement credit for airline travel or as Disney Rewards Dollars on a requested Rewards Card. Disney Rewards Dollars can be spent on many eligible purchases—including park merchandise, shopDisney.com purchases, in Disney retail stores, and applied to theme-park tickets—but they hold no value outside the Disney umbrella.

Your earned rewards will expire within five years if you fail to redeem them. However, as long as you transfer them to a Redemption Card, those Disney Rewards Dollars will not expire. Just remember that card redemptions are only available once you reach $20—or $50 for airline travel.

Additional hidden perks

Beyond the Disney-specific perks of this card, there are a few other benefits to note.

Cardholders can enjoy a complimentary one-year DashPass. This membership offers unlimited $0 deliveries through DoorDash and Caviar, and reduced service fees for eligible orders.

My Chase Plan

Many Chase credit cards today offer My Chase Plan, a financing option for cardholders who want to spread their card repayment into three to 24 budget-friendly monthly payments. Instead of paying standard finance charges each month, My Chase Plan charges a fixed monthly fee on eligible purchases.

What could be improved

The card_name isn’t designed for the everyday rewards-chaser or someone looking to consolidate debt with a 0% APR balance transfer offer. It’s truly geared toward Disney aficionados who want to enjoy some perks on their passion.

The Mouse rules: The card’s intro_apr_rate,intro_apr_duration offer only benefits Disney vacation planners. You can earn rewards in a number of different categories, but they can be redeemed only toward eligible flights or Disney-related expenses. And the discounts available on this card are limited to eligible Disney purchases.

If you’re a frequent Disney parkgoer, are planning a vacation for the family, or regularly make purchases online or in Disney retail stores, this card might be right for you. But otherwise, the benefits make it subpar for the everyday credit card user.

Card Alternatives

Bottom line.

The card_name from Chase has one audience in mind: those who spend money at Disney. It’s a worthwhile card for anyone planning a Disney trip or who spends a lot of money in the Disney sphere, as it earns great bonus rewards on Disney purchases, and redemptions are mostly limited to Disney Rewards Dollars. If you’re not planning a Disney vacation in the future or don’t plan to spend any money through Disney online or in-store, look elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Is card_name hard to get.

While the card_name doesn’t have a published minimum credit score requirement , most Chase credit cards do require Good to Excellent credit to qualify. You’ll also be subject to Chase’s 5/24 rule, making you ineligible for a card if you’ve opened five new accounts from any issuer in the last 24 months.

What is the difference between Disney Visa and card_name ?

While both cards are similar and offer the same six-month 0% APR offer on vacation packages, the Disney Visa has no annual fee and a smaller welcome bonus. Disney Visa cardholders also earn 1% back on all card purchases, while Disney Premier Visa cardholders can earn up to 5% in bonus categories.

Is card_name worth it?

The card_name from Chase is worth considering if you’re planning an upcoming Disney vacation or regularly spend money on Disney-related purchases. If you can meet the minimum spend requirement to earn the $300 welcome bonus (and cancel out the card’s annual fee), it’s an even better offer.

Can I upgrade my Disney Visa to the card_name ?

You can contact Chase card services to request an upgrade from the Disney Visa to the card_name . You’ll be subject to an annual fee with this upgrade but can begin enjoying your new card benefits while still using your old credit card (until the replacement arrives).
