Grand Canyon Skywalk: What to Expect & Is It Worth It?

Julie Last updated: January 12, 2024 United States 55 Comments

Grand Canyon Skywalk Worth It

Located on the West Rim of the Grand Canyon, the Skywalk is an easily accessible viewpoint from Las Vegas. It looks and sounds thrilling…a glass walkway perched high above the canyon floor, offering spectacular views of the Grand Canyon. But is the Grand Canyon Skywalk worth it?

Table of Contents

What to Expect at Grand Canyon West and the Skywalk

How much does it cost to visit the skywalk.

We visited Grand Canyon West and the Skywalk on Sunday December 23, 2018. With it being a weekend day during a busy holiday week, we expected larger than normal crowds.

For a family of four, basic admission tickets plus the added fee for the Skywalk (called Grand Package) cost a whopping $295.12 in 2024! That’s $68 per person plus $23.12 in taxes.

This better be an amazing experience for this price!

How to Get to the Skywalk

We drove out from Las Vegas, stopping along the way for a quick visit to Hoover Dam.

If you drive directly from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon West, it takes 2 to 2.5 hours (130 miles). Most of the drive is on a highway but the final 45 miles is on a two-lane paved road through small towns.

How to Get to the Skywalk

The Skywalk is not located in Grand Canyon National Park. It is located on the Hualapai Indian Reservation and is owned and operated by the Hualapai Tribe.

Things to Do at the Skywalk

Once at Grand Canyon West, we parked in an enormous parking lot. The lot was filled and we had to wait in line in order to find a parking spot.

Next to the parking lot is the Visitor Center. If you did not purchase your tickets in advance, you can buy them here. The line for tickets was roughly a 30-minute wait. Good thing we bought ours in advance!

The Visitor Center is located several miles from the canyon and the Skywalk. The only way to get to the Skywalk is by shuttle bus. You are not permitted to drive to the Skywalk.

The line for the shuttle bus was very long as you can see from our photo. However, they did have shuttle buses running frequently so we only had to wait for 15 minutes.

Eagle Point

The shuttle bus drops you off at Eagle Point. This is a decent viewpoint over the canyon.

Eagle Point View

From here, you can also see the Skywalk jutting out over the canyon.

We took a few photos at Eagle Point and then headed to the Skywalk.

More Lines, More “Surprises” at the Skywalk

We were shocked to see such a long line to get onto the Skywalk. It was so long that we considered skipping it altogether. But we had come so far, and paid so much, that it would be silly to skip it.

So, we got in line.

And the line slowly trudged forward.

While we waited, Native American women put on a show in the small amphitheater. Tim and Tyler took advantage of our waiting time to get food at one of the small restaurants. They had to wait in another long, slow moving line and it took them 45 minutes to get served overpriced, mediocre food.

By the way, you are not permitted to bring your own food into Grand Canyon West.

Line for Skywalk

A view of the line to enter the Skywalk.

The Line Grand Canyon West

It took us an hour and fifteen minutes to enter the Skywalk building.

Once inside, we had to wait in another short line. It was here that we learned that no photography is permitted on the Skywalk. No cameras. No cellphones. All of your personal belongings need to be stored in a free locker before walking onto the Skywalk.

So, we waited almost an hour and a half and just learned that photography was not allowed. I was extremely frustrated by this point (as were many other people in line).

We did not see any signs outside of the Skywalk building letting visitors know that photography is not permitted. It’s also not readily stated on their website. They do mention “no photography” in the FAQ section of their website (that I read after our visit). Their reason for no photography: they state that it is for safety reasons and that they do not want cameras and cell phones falling to the canyon below. But really, I believe they are simply trying to make more money.

How much money? It costs $17 for a single photo and $69 for the photo package. There are photographers who will take your photo on the Skywalk and you can purchase these at the end of your visit.

On the Skywalk

Before stepping foot onto the Skywalk, you will put shoe covers over your shoes to protect the glass surface.

If you want one of their photographers to take your photo on the Skywalk, you will have to wait in another line.  On the day we did this, the wait time for photos was 30 minutes.

We skipped the photo line and stepped out onto the Skywalk.

We have done similar things in other places around the world. I do have to say that the glass floor of the Skywalk is very clear and it’s really cool to see the ground way below your feet. At other sites we have been to, the glass is so scratched up that it’s hard to see through. Not at the Skywalk. If you have a problem with heights, this could be challenging for you.

You should also know that the Skywalk does not hover 4,000 feet above the canyon as it is advertised on their website. The Skywalk sits above a small plateau so you are only 700 feet off the ground.

We spent about 10 minutes on the Skywalk. The view is nothing special. The reason to do this is for the experience of walking out on a platform suspended high off of the ground.

Guano Point

Once finished at the Skywalk, the shuttle takes you to another viewpoint called Guano Point. Here, you can enjoy more views of the canyon and hike on the rocks.

Guano Point

View from Guano Point

From Guano Point, the shuttle takes you to the Hualapai Ranch and then back to the Visitor Center.

Note:  There are no direct shuttles from the Skywalk back to the Visitor Center. You must ride the shuttle to Guano Point and Hualapai Ranch even if you do not plan to visit them.

Is the Skywalk Worth It?

No. This entire experience was one frustration after another. And to think that we spent nearly $300 makes it even more irritating.

I know that we visited during a holiday weekend when crowds are larger. But even without the lines, this experience does not deserve its huge price tag.

$300 is a lot of money to spend for a family of four, and that does not include meals or the photo package. Compare this price tag with the $35 park entrance fee if you went to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon instead of the Skywalk.

I understand that the Skywalk is not on national park land so prices will be higher for this attraction. I don’t have a problem with that. We are all for spending some money, supporting the Hualapai Tribe, and visiting an extraordinary place in the process. The Skywalk is a great way to attract visitors to the Grand Canyon and it is a cool experience, but it is overpriced for what you get.

Arizona Travel Guide

West Rim View of the Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon Skywalk is advertised as a quick and easy day trip for visitors in Las Vegas to see the Grand Canyon. And it’s a great idea, which is exactly why we did it.

If you are in Las Vegas and have never seen the Grand Canyon, this may be a day trip that you are considering.

However, Grand Canyon West lacks the grandeur and awe-inspiring vistas that you see in photographs. To get these views, you need to head farther east.

If your only view of the Grand Canyon was from the Skywalk and Grand Canyon West, you would be leaving with the wrong impression of the Grand Canyon. Grand Canyon West simply does not have the same “wow” factor you get on the South Rim.

An Alternative to the Skywalk

If you consider that it is a 2.5-hour drive to the Skywalk, with just two more hours of driving, you can be standing on the South Rim with more spectacular views.

as Vegas to Grand Canyon

Pay your park entrance fee, walk to Mather Point from the Visitor Center, and enjoy this view.

Or check out these views from the South Rim.

Want to see more views of the Grand Canyon? Read our article 17 Amazing South Rim Viewpoints in the Grand Canyon.

There is no comparison between the West Rim and the South Rim, in our opinion. And you only need to pay the $35 park entrance for your entire family (and it’s good for seven days!). Worth it? Absolutely.

However, to make a visit to the South Rim worthwhile, you need to plan to spend at least a few hours here. It can be done as a day trip from Las Vegas, but you will spend most of the day in your car (it takes 4.5 hours to drive from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon). That is nine hours of driving in one day…doable but definitely a long day.

A better option is to spend the night at the Grand Canyon Village or in Tusayan and head back to Las Vegas (or continue your road trip) the next day. Of course, more time is always better.

How to Make the Skywalk Worth It

If driving out the South Rim is not an option for you, I do believe that there are ways to make the West Rim and the Skywalk a worthwhile experience.

First of all, you have to know what to expect. Plan to wait in line and to know that you will not be able to take your own photos on the Skywalk.

If you can, get here early in the day to avoid the crowds.

Eat a big breakfast in Las Vegas before your drive out and have snacks in the car for your drive back. Avoid eating at the slow, mediocre restaurants at Grand Canyon West.

Buy your tickets in advance. You will get to skip at least one line if you do this.

Consider skipping the Skywalk. You will save $28 per person. And you can still enjoy the view from Eagle Point and Guano Point. Once on site, you can purchase your Skywalk tickets inside the Skywalk building if you change your mind.

Combine the Skywalk with Hoover Dam (you get to visit two attractions on one drive). On this highly-rated tour, you visit the Skywalk and have a quick visit to Hoover Dam (note that you do not tour Hoover Dam, you just get a view of it from the bypass bridge, which is still very nice).

If you want to see photos taken from the Skywalk, click here.

Before you go, take a look at the Frequently Asked Questions section of the official website so you don’t have any surprises.

In Conclusion

If you want jaw-dropping views of the Grand Canyon, skip the Skywalk and drive the extra two hours to the South Rim. You’ll have loads of amazing photos and a lot more money in your wallet.

Grand Canyon West and the Skywalk would be worth it if they reduced the entrance fees and allowed photography on the Skywalk. Until then, the South Rim is the most accessible (and much more spectacular) portion of the Grand Canyon to visit.

But if you are still interested in visiting Grand Canyon West and/or the Skywalk, here are several highly rated tours from Las Vegas.

If you have any questions about visiting the Grand Canyon Skywalk, or if you want to share your experience, let us know in the comment section below.

Actually, if you were to build such an engineering feast in a lost tribal place, you would also charge a bit more to reimburse the loan…

The grand canyon entry fee is sponsored by the federal government while no bank was willing to lend money to the Hualapai, a tribe no one could put on a map before the Skywalk.

I understand that the cost for a family of 4 is prohibitive for many but there are not many opportunities to make money for tribal members relegated to the lost corners of the world, it’s a little sad to hear everybody so bend over the cost when in reality there are so many attractions in Las Vegas much more expensive.

I enjoyed Guano Point a lot and the experience of walking on this transparent bridge without spending time taking pictures but instead being fully in the moment was fun and unique.

I like the detailed descriptions of your trip, and I must confess I was there early September with barely a line at the main restaurant overlooking the bridge, so I didn’t have to wait at all anywhere and have wonderful pictures of the place.

So glad to read your post on Skywalk. The two deal-breakers you mentioned were, 1) 4,000 advertised feet down is a long way from 700. 2) The biggest killer was no photography on the Skywalk! Without putting too fine a point on it, that is why I travel: to see spactacular things I can take pictures of and revisit in a book. I love vistas, but I’m taking this one off the list.

Grand Canyon Skywalk

The Grand Canyon Skywalk takes you over the edge on the first-ever 4,000-foot high glass bridge. This attraction is located only 2 ½ hours away from Las Vegas by road and only 45 minutes by air. Grand Canyon Skywalk is part of Grand Canyon West, which is most accessible from Las Vegas. And while you're in the area, popular Skywalk trips include eagle-eye views of Lake Mead and Hoover Dam on a premier helicopter or airplane tour from Las Vegas .

The Grand Canyon Skywalk is a rare architectural accomplishment that extends 70 feet past the edge of the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. Visitors of the Grand Canyon Skywalk can walk over the western rim of the Grand Canyon on a clear, glass-floored structure built to withstand over 71 million pounds of weight, and experience the sensation of seeing the canyon fall straight away below their feet. The Skywalk was made to withstand high winds, harsh winter weather conditions, and forces of nature beyond what is typical for the area. The Skywalk is so strong it can hold the weight of 71 loaded 747 passenger planes stacked on top of one another.

How to See the Skywalk When Traveling from Las Vegas

This amazing structure located on the Hualapai Tribe's Grand Canyon West, is best accessed on an array of half-day and full-day tour options from Las Vegas. There are several Grand Canyon tour companies from Las Vegas that package the Skywalk with helicopter tours, airplane or ground tours, plus tours of Hoover Dam on the way to the Skywalk. Most Grand Canyon Las Vegas tour companies offer hotel pick-up and customizable add-on side trips. If you choose to visit the Skywalk without a tour company, use the hop-on-hop-off shuttle to tour Grand Canyon West's three main points of interest. We recommend upgrading your entrance package to include everything from horseback riding to Canyon floor helicopter landings to pontoon boat rides on the Colorado River.

Skywalk Grand Canyon Fees

Skywalk in the making

On March 28, 2007, Skywalk opened to the general public. This $30 million modern engineering marvel took four years to build. At that time, Skywalk was the world’s biggest glass cantilever bridge at 70 feet (China’s walkway in Chongqing took that title in 2016 by extending 87.5 feet).

Construction began on this one-of-a-kind glass-bottom bridge in 2004. Engineers employed the same rod and plate method used on the Egyptian pyramids to roll Skywalk out over the Grand Canyon’s edge, creating an unencumbered view from the bridge. Support beams formed the foundation by anchoring deep within the red limestone bedrock of the site, acting as counterweight rods. This allows Skywalk to extend over the canyon’s edge with no direct support from underneath.

Highly skilled craftsman used 1.2 million pounds of steel and glass to build the Skywalk, using glass units that can hold up to 800 people at any given time. The glass bridge can withstand an 8.0 magnitude earthquake, wind speeds up to 100 miles per hour, and can support the weight of seventy-one 747 airplanes. Since its opening, the world-famous structure has welcomed more than 10 million visitors to experience a bird’s eye view of the Grand Canyon.

Skywalk

Historical Significance

At one point, the entity of what is now the Grand Canyon was all submerged underwater. The legend goes there was a big ice comet that landed in Colorado. After millions of years, the comet melted, and the water rushed through the rocks, carving the Grand Canyon. The Hualapai myth says a giant eagle soared the skies before the flooding started and swooped down to save the Hualapai people. This grand eagle flew the Hualapai on his back, depositing the tribespeople along the ledge of the west rim when the flooding stopped. The eagle itself turned into stone, where it remains to this day.

When you visit Eagle Point at Grand Canyon West, you can see the eagle in the stone. While you can see it from around the Grand Canyon, the best place to view it straight on is from the middle of the Skywalk or inside the Sky View Restaurant.

The eagle plays an essential role in Indigenous cultures. For the Hualapai, not only did the eagle save them from the great flood, upon a Hualapai’s death, it flies their spirit to the next world at midnight.

Grand Canyon Destinations can take you to the Skywalk and the West Rim. We also include optional Skywalk admission tickets before you arrive at the park as a convenience. That means a better use of your time, as you don’t have to stand in line to pay for tickets once you reach Grand Canyon West.

Make the Most of Your Time While Visiting Las Vegas

Save on time buying tickets by opting for our West Rim tour by luxury bus. We leave Las Vegas early in the morning at about 7:00 AM and return to Las Vegas around 5:30 PM. That means you get to explore Grand Canyon West and the famous Skywalk for over 4 hours before returning back to your Vegas hotel.

A Safer and More Pleasant Way to Travel

A trained travel guide will accompany you on your journey to answer questions and to provide facts and information about sites along the way as well as at your destination. While most tour companies use their driver to provide tours, we, at Grand Canyon Destinations, use the services of a driver and a trained guide. In turn, we provide a safer and more pleasant touring experience.

Drive Along Amazing Route 66

Traveling along Route 66 is an exciting activity all on its own. Known as the Main Street of America, Route 66 successfully connected the United States from Chicago to Los Angeles almost 100 years ago. Being one of the first highways across the country, this road holds an important place in America’s history. As you experience the drive, you will be able to feel the history and nostalgia that comes along with this historic trip.

The Amazing Grand Canyon Skywalk

Naturally, you don’t want to go to the West Rim without seeing the Skywalk Bridge. The Grand Canyon Skywalk, also known as the Grand Canyon glass walk or Grand Canyon glass bridge, is not at all breakable as the name suggests. In fact, this bridge is made to withstand earthquakes registering as high as 8.0 on the Richter scale and is fortified to stay intact if subjected to 100 mile-per-hour winds.

The glass platform of the bridge is made of a resilient and almost indestructible glass that can hold as many as 800 people weighing 200 pounds. However, only 120 visitors can walk over the platform at one time, so you don’t have to worry about the glass shattering beneath your feet. Instead, all you need to do is concentrate on the beautiful scenery around you and the amazing canyon below.

Planning Your Day’s Adventure

If you want to visit the Grand Canyon, but want to take less time traveling, you will want to plan a trip to the Skywalk at Grand Canyon West. Dependable Grand Canyon Destination drivers will pick you up for your day’s getaway. You will spend about 4.5 hours at the West Rim when you travel with us. Again, we start out about 7:00 AM in the morning and return around 5:30 PM in the evening from the west rim.

A Great Way to Explore the Southwest

You can plan one of various activities in this part of the US Southwest. In fact, vacationing in Las Vegas gives you the opportunity to visit some amazing canyons and parks. Located in Las Vegas is Red Rock Canyon which is a beautiful natural landscape enjoyed by the Vegas locals for hiking, biking, and climbing.

Have You Ever Been to Boulder City?

Another place of note in the area is Boulder City. This city was established in 1931, and served as the temporary home for the laborers who helped build the Hoover Dam . The city seems to be frozen-in-time with its neon lights and art décor designs. Grand Canyon Destinations can provide you with a customized travel experience if you want to make this destination part of your travel itinerary. You can visit the dam separately on a half day tour if you wish.

Buy Your Skywalk Tickets Before You Go

We take care of all the details – details that make buying tickets to the Skywalk attraction unnecessary once you reach your destination.

That is because we want you to make the most of your time, and therefore strive to provide a memorable and pleasant travel experience. Whether your canyon tour leads to the west canyon rim or directs you to the Colorado River, and the canyon floor, we are ready to make your travel dreams come true. It does not matter if you choose to see the glass bridge of the Grand Canyon Skywalk or choose to navigate the Colorado River, we are always ready to answer your tour needs.

Once more, if you choose to purchase our day tour package to the Skywalk, you can forego paying the entrance fee when you arrive. Again, we’ll include the tickets and their cost in your trip’s package if you choose. That way, you can walk over the glass walkway and its glass floor without distraction. You can merely enjoy the experience. Walking over the see-through platform will almost make you feel like you are walking on air.

How about Horseback Riding?

You might also think about horseback riding near the Skywalk and the West Rim. Many people do not know that the Grand Canyon Skywalk and Grand Canyon West are separate from Grand Canyon National Park or the South Rim. These two places are distinctly different from one another.

While the West Rim is owned and operated by the Hualapai Indian tribe and is located on the Hualapai Indian reservation, the South Rim is part of land managed by the National Park Service. Therefore, these trips cover two different sites and have different itineraries.

If you wish to visit the Grand Canyon Skywalk, you will have more time to participate in the activities at the West Rim. This part of the canyon is closer to Las Vegas and a shorter travel time. Therefore, visitors who choose to see the Skywalk and Grand Canyon West spend less travel time on the road than visitors who journey to the South Rim and Grand Canyon National Park.

West Rim Tour Packages

If you do plan to travel to the Grand Canyon Skywalk, you may wonder about the price. The Hualapai provide a legacy package that you might want to consider. The Hualapai Legacy Package serves as a day pass to the tourist area of Grand Canyon West and the Hualapai Indian Reservation. The pass allows you to take the hop-on hop-off shuttle so you can save your energy for viewing the canyon and visiting the Grand Canyon Skywalk and other West Rim sites.

You can also upgrade your package by opting for a Legacy Gold day pass. This pass permits you to get a free meal as well. With either pass, you can access three viewpoints near the Grand Canyon Skywalk, including Eagle Point (which features a rock outcropping that resembles an eagle), Guano Point, (near a former guano mining operation), and Hualapai Ranch.

Grand Canyon Zipline

Your trip to the Grand Canyon Skywalk can also include a zip lining adventure, if you so choose. Zip lining is available from mid March to the end of October, so you may want to keep that in mind if you want to participate in the activity. If you want to stay longer than a day, you can always plan to stay at the Hualapai Lodge.

Is There Rafting At The West Rim?

There is an option to raft along the Colorado River at the West Rim. To do this, however, make sure you make your travel plans well in advance of your stay. If you wish to stay longer, you might also want to set up a river rafting adventure through the Hualapai River Runners. This activity will require more time than just a one-day tour.

What Do You Want to See?

Whether you want to obtain Legacy passes or want to know more about the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, we can answer all your questions about any trip you would like to plan to Grand Canyon West and the Skywalk, Hoover Dam, or to one of Utah’s national parks.

To get acquainted, however, with the Grand Canyon Skywalk, you will need to book a day trip from Las Vegas if you plan to see this wonder of the world. Not only will Las Vegas provide you with plenty of amazing scenery, so will the nearby Grand Canyon Skywalk and Hoover Dam .

Choosing The Right Tour For You

However, before you book travel, to any canyon location, south or west rim, or the Grand Canyon Skywalk, you need to figure out what you would like to do on your day trip. Grand Canyon Skywalk Tour

Depart from the world-famous Strip and head out over Las Vegas and the surrounding Mojave Desert on your direct helicopter flight to the Grand Canyon Skywalk. While en route to the canyon, you'll be treated to unforgettable views of Hoover Dam, an engineering marvel and true icon of the American West. Formed by the dam's construction in the 1930s, the sparkling Lake Mead puddles across the Colorado River Valley, making an excellent addition to this sightseeing tour. Other highlights of this portion of the tour include Fortification Hill, an extinct volcano, and Boulder City, originally built to house the dam construction workers.

On your Grand Canyon Skywalk tour, you'll pass over the towering West Rim before flying over the canyon for intimate views of the meandering bends of the Colorado River. Upon landing in the heart of Hualapai Indian Territory, get ready to explore a one-of-a-kind attraction, the Grand Canyon Skywalk, a glass-bottom observation deck suspended nearly 4,000 feet above the Colorado River and more than 70 feet away from the canyon wall.

Expedited admission to the Skywalk, VIP ground transportation, and a Skywalk souvenir photo are included in this grand sightseeing adventure. To protect the glass walkway and preserve the Grand Canyon, no personal items are permitted on the Skywalk. This includes cameras, cellphones, strollers, purses, backpacks, etc.

The return flight affords you more splendid views of the canyon and Lake Mead. As you get closer to Las Vegas, you'll head to historic Downtown Las Vegas, home to Fremont Street and the city's oldest casinos. On your return flight continue south along Las Vegas Boulevard, where you'll savor unparalleled views of the world's most extravagant hotels, such as Bellagio and the iconic Caesars Palace.

Other highlights of this portion of the tour include Paris Las Vegas' Eiffel Tower, The Strat tower and The Mirage's volcanic landscaping.

Total ground time for this tour is approximately 45 minutes at Grand Canyon West.

A view of the Grand Canyon Skywalk located on the Hualapai Reservation at Grand Canyon West

Experience the Grand Canyon Skywalk

The mile deep Grand Canyon is breathtaking in of itself. But when you add to this grandeur a horseshoe-shaped glass bridge, suspended over the Colorado River below, that extends its 10-foot-wide path an incredible 70 feet out over the rim you have one of the most thrilling experiences in the world!

The Grand Canyon Skywalk opened in March 2007 and was certified by Guinness World Records as the world's highest observation deck at 4,000 feet above sea level.

Luckily, the most popular tourist attraction in all of the Grand Canyon is easily accessible to those traveling from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon Skywalk .

Stepping across the transparent glass floor of the Grand Canyon Skywalk, seeing the ground drop from beneath your feet as the Colorado River below comes into view, is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for adventurers and sightseers alike.

About the Skywalk at Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon Skywalk construction took more than four years to complete and cost approximately $30 million. Commissioned and owned by the Hualapai Indian Tribe, the Grand Canyon Skywalk was opened in March of 2007, and surpassed one million visitors by 2015. The Skywalk is a true engineering marvel. Its reinforced construction contains 1.2 million pounds of steel and glass drilled nearly 50 feet deep into the Grand Canyon rim bedrock. This makes the Skywalk strong enough to hold seventy fully loaded 747 passenger jets! The floor of this spectacular bridge was constructed from four layers of low-iron glass, offering a perfectly-transparent view of the canyon floor and the Colorado River 4,000 feet beneath you. The U-shaped bridge extends 70 feet beyond the canyon's edge, which allows visitors to soak in a breathtaking 180-degree view of the canyon expanse. While the Grand Canyon National Park may be the more "famous" destination, this gravity-defying bridge can only be experienced at the Grand Canyon West Rim, which is owned and operated by the Hualapai Reservation.

The Grand Canyon Skywalk is open seven days a week from 9:00am - 5:00 pm, with extended hours in the summer months. Admission fees vary depending on whether you purchase tickets in advance or on the day of your visit. The Grand Canyon Skywalk is a popular attraction and can be quite busy, especially during peak hours. It is recommended that you arrive early to avoid the crowds.

Visitors should also note that there are restrictions on the type of items that can be taken onto the Grand Canyon Skywalk. No personal items, including bags, cellphones, cameras, food, or beverages, are allowed. Lockers are provided for personal items before stepping out onto the Skywalk glass. In addition, visitors are required to wear special shoe covers before entering the Skywalk, in order to protect the glass from damage and keep it safe for future visitors.

The Hualapai

The Hualapai people have inhabited the Grand Canyon West and Peach Springs, AZ area for centuries. The Hualapai tribe, a sovereign Indian nation federally recognized since 1883, holds the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River sacred. Tribal members share their culture, tribal heritage, and traditions at the Grand Canyon West self-guided Native American village tour located at Eagle Point. This location also contains a fantastic gift shop. When visiting the Skywalk, it is important to remember that you are wandering ancient lands, and must respect the peaceful nature belonging to these friendly people.

Getting to the Grand Canyon West Rim Skywalk

The Skywalk Bridge is approximately an hour and a half drive from Kingman, Arizona via the US-93 N. Follow the US-93 N and Pierce Ferry Road for 58.8 miles to Diamond Bar Rd. After 23.6 miles on Diamond Bar Rd, turn left on Eagle Point Service Road and continue straight until you reach the Skywalk.

The distance from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon West is just short of two and a half hours. Take the 515 S to the US-93 S to the US-95 S. From there, take the I-11 S and US-93 S for 76.6 miles to Pierce Ferry Road in Mohave County. Follow Pierce Ferry Rd and Diamond Bar Road for 52.4 miles to the Eagle Point Service Road, where you will dead-end at the Skywalk Bridge.

Of course, you can skip the driving altogether and reach the West Rim in less than half the time if you travel from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon by helicopter or airplane! With Papillon's West Rim of the Grand Canyon Tours you can find packages that include all the exciting sightseeing opportunities Grand Canyon West Rim offers. With Papillon's Grand Canyon Skywalk Experience , your flight from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon West includes entry to the Skywalk Bridge and plenty of time to wander and explore.

Visitors are not allowed to drive private vehicles into Grand Canyon West. Instead, guests landing at Grand Canyon West airport, or those self-driving themselves to West Rim, board a complimentary, hop-on, hop-off, air-conditioned shuttle to explore points along the rim of Grand Canyon West. On the shuttle route, you can visit the Grand Canyon Skywalk, Indian Village at Eagle Point, and take in the scenic beauty of Eagle Point and Guano Point, both of which are some of the most dramatic viewpoints in the entire Grand Canyon.

Celebrate Art At Seven Magic Mountains

A celebration of art and color , it rises more than 30 feet above the Nevada Desert and is constructed of seven enormous towers built of enormous colorful neon stones. The Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone claims that the Seven Magic Mountains reflect the blending of the man-made and the natural, as well as the passing traffic on the highway and the nearby mountains and lakes. The unique juxtaposition of the brown landscape with the bright and vibrant boulders is very interesting for tourists to observe and marvel over.

Explore Bryce Canyon And Zion National Park

Bryce Canyon, which is celebrating an entire century of wonder, is most renowned for its hoodoos, which are artistically sculpted rock spires that erosion has left intact. The greatest places to see hoodoos are along our day hiking paths, which provide a close-up and personal view of these unusual rock formations. The Bryce Canyon Amphitheater region is where you'll find the majority of the gorgeous day hikes and trailheads. In contrast, the backcountry paths of Bryce Canyon provide woods and meadows, breathtaking vistas of far-off cliffs, and isolation, but fewer hoodoos. On the other hand, Zion's distinctive collection of flora and animals will amaze you as you take in the past's rich history and the present's exhilarating experiences.
