Frequently asked questions

What user data is here wego collecting and why.

No personal user data is collected without the explicit user consent. You can withdraw your given consent at any moment if you wish to do so. HERE welcomes the users to share certain data in order to provide a better service, and offers users to consent to it. Even when consent is given, all collected data used in services is fully anonymized and can't be tracked back to individuals. Users can request the removal of all collected personal data in the app.

We collect the following categories of information:

Registration and contact details

Some features may require the use of a HERE account, such as when you want to synchronize your Collections. You can also continue using other features of the service without signing in. When you sign up for a HERE account, we collect your name, email address, date of birth and country of residence. Once you are logged in with your HERE account, we automatically try to synchronize your recent searches and the collections associated with your HERE account.

Location data and place information

The service makes use of information about your actual location ("location data") and places ("place information"). Location data reveals where you currently are or where you have been. Location Data is based on available positioning methods, such as Assisted GPS. In many device models, the user interface of the Service identifies the use of positioning with an icon. Place information is general information pertaining to particular geographical locations (ie, a city of the location of a restaurant) which you provided to us in your Collections, for example. Unless otherwise stated, we use random identifiers in connection with your location data that do not identify you personally. When you start to use the service, the applicable service activates your selected positioning methods to retrieve your current location. The service may send your location data to HERE when you use location-enabled features of the service online, such as asking for information about nearby services or offerings, using search features, as well as when the service asks for new maps for new areas you previously navigated to. The location data may be collected when you use the traffic feature for service improvement purposes without identifying you personally. Place information may be sent to HERE, for example, when you synchronize your collections.

How can I enable or disable traffic info?

Turning on 'Traffic' allows the app to send HERE information about your ride (ie, your car's location, the directions of travel, etc). We combine this info with what other drivers have sent to provide you with better and faster routes.

To turn traffic info on:

  • Open the WeGo app
  • Select 'About, Legal and Notices'
  • Select 'HERE Traffic'

You can also find this toggle by:

  • Opening the WeGo app
  • Selecting the layer icon on the bottom right corner
  • Turning on/off the 'Traffic' option

How do I add stops to my route?

To add stops to your route, you can follow two different paths.

The first one is by using the initial route planner of WeGo before starting the navigation:

  • Select your final destination
  • Calculate your car, bike or pedestrian route
  • Click on the three lines icon on the right side of the starting point/destination field
  • Add one or more stops to your route and arrange them according to your preferences
  • Start your navigation with WeGo and go through all the stops you've added

The second option is to add a stop to your route after the navigation has already started:

  • Enter your destination and click on 'Directions'
  • Start the navigation by clicking on the blue arrow of one of the alternative routes
  • Drag the bottom navigation bar up to expand the menu
  • These options will become available: 'Search', 'Gas', 'Parking', 'Restaurants' and 'Toilets'
  • See available waypoints by clicking on the relevant icon, or selecting 'Search' to add a specific address
  • You can search for these places either along your route or at a destination
  • Select your choice of waypoint from the list or map and click on 'Add stop'
  • The stop is now added to your route

I have an electric vehicle. How can HERE WeGo help me?

HERE WeGo covers electric vehicles and shows the locations of charging points.

To enable this function on your app:

  • Open the WeGo app and drag the bottom bar up to expand the menu
  • Select 'Settings'
  • Under 'General', select 'Fuel type'
  • Under 'Fuel type', select 'Electric'
  • Whenever you search for EV charging stations or try to get a waypoint while navigating (by selecting 'Charging', for example), the app will take into account that you have an electric vehicle and show you the relevant results

You can also search for electric charging stations in WeGo and verify whether these points are available or occupied*.* Service is available for a limited amount of regions only.

How can I download and use offline maps?

To navigate offline, download the offline maps of the areas you wish to navigate:

  • Launch the app and drag up the bottom bar to expand the menu
  • Under 'Your Maps', you'll see a 'Download maps' option
  • The app will display information about your system storage (ie, how much free space you have for maps) and a button that says 'Download new maps'
  • We group offline maps by continent to make them easier to find. Select the continent where your region of interest is located to search for the relevant maps
  • Select the download icon to the right of the region's name and wait for the download to complete

Before navigating offline, remember to tag the 'Use app offline' option located in the app's menu.

What is the 'Rest Areas' feature in WeGo? How can use it for my navigation?

Rest Areas are public facilities available on highways or motorways where drivers can take a break. You can usually find gas stations, restrooms and/or places to buy food in these areas. If you open the WeGo app, drag up the bottom bar and select 'Settings', you'll find a toggle switch for the 'Rest Areas' functionality. Once turned on, the app will start showing the rest areas available on your way (if any), especially when you're driving on highways. When the app shows the rest area icon, you can click on it and add it as a stop on your route.

What is the 'Get door-to-door directions' feature? How can I use it?

When the 'Door-to-door directions' feature is activated, WeGo will offer you a complete door-to-door navigation experience.

This works by:

  • Showing the walking section from your current location until your parked vehicle
  • Having an automatic handover from the pedestrian to the car navigation
  • Guiding you throughout all the car navigation
  • Showing you when to stop driving (and where to park)
  • Guiding you to walk the final section to arrive at your destination (in case the destination is not reachable by car, for example)

To activate this mode:

  • Select the final destination of your route
  • Click on 'Directions'
  • Select 'Route preferences'
  • Turn on the 'Get Door-to-door navigation' option

Note: To use the feature, make sure you previously saved the location of your car.

What should I do when I come across inaccurate and/or missing data on WeGo maps?

We work hard to keep the maps as current as possible but as data constantly changes around the world, some of these changes can take a while before they show p in our maps. Please, use the 'Suggest an edit' option when you'd like to report issues about outdated POI information in our maps. If you'd like to report any other issue, please send an email to [email protected] with more details or use the Map Creator tool .

30 essential travel apps every traveler needs before their next trip

Lori Zaino

When it comes to planning and taking a vacation, travelers rely on their phones now more than ever.

Travel apps are a source of inspiration and are extremely useful for booking and managing logistics — even making restaurant reservations or finding a great fitness class wherever in the world you're flying next.

From apps that help with everything from day-of hotel bookings and last-minute flight changes to those that serve as guidebooks and foreign-language dictionaries, travel is infinitely easier thanks to technology.

Apps can help you navigate a new city, make currency conversions, pack a perfect suitcase and even provide on-the-ground local expertise. Whatever you need when you hit the road, there's an app for that.

We've rounded up the most-loved apps here at TPG. Some may be obvious, and others more obscure, but either way, get ready to download.

Best apps for researching and booking trips

In addition to the apps for the airlines you fly most frequently and your favorite hotel brands, these apps can help you save money on flights and accommodations.

we go trip app

Hopper has changed in recent years from just offering a price prediction tool for flights to being a true online travel agency. The app helps travelers find the cheapest flights, hotels and rental cars.

Of course, Hopper also still offers its signature price prediction technology to help you plan out when to book, as well as travel protection options and a price freeze to help you lock in the lowest possible price on hotels and flights.

we go trip app

Kiwi is used mainly to book flights, but it also helps you book hotels (using its partnership with Booking.com) and car rentals (using its partnership with RentalCars.com).

Some of the app's most interesting features include the "Deals" section, which pulls in discounted flights, and the "Travel hacks" section, which includes options for hidden city ticketing, throwaway ticketing (making one-way flights more affordable) and free price alerts.

Hotel Tonight

we go trip app

A dream for last-minute travelers, Hotel Tonight ( now owned by Airbnb ) lets you book stays for the same evening up to a few months in advance in thousands of cities worldwide. Available hotel rooms are categorized into sections like basic, luxe, hip, charming and solid, so you can select what works for your vibe. Take advantage of the daily drop feature, where you swipe to find a personalized deal with a special price only valid for 15 minutes after unlocked.

At TPG, we love a good loyalty program, and HT Perks, the app's nine-level reward program, is extensive. Not unlike a video game, you "level up" by reaching specific spending thresholds on the app, and you'll gain access to perks like discounts, VIP customer support and credits. Also, your levels never expire, so you can only continue to move up.

we go trip app

To book home rentals instead of hotels, use the Airbnb app. After entering your destination and dates, you can filter results based on the home type, price, requisite amenities and more. If you find something you like, you can book directly through the app.

The app is ideal for managing your trips while on the road — you can access all your bookings under the "Trips" tab, where you can view your reservation (and the address or directions), contact the host or change your reservation. Once you have a booking, you can also explore and book local experiences in your destination, such as wine tastings, kayak tours, hikes, shows and concerts.

we go trip app

We can't talk about travel apps without mentioning the TPG App. Use it to track your credit card, airline and hotel points balances; earn points and miles efficiently through using the right credit card ; and research how many points or miles you'll need to book your dream getaway. You can even curate your own news feed so you see the news and advice that matters most to you first.

The TPG App is available for download on iOS . Android users can join the waitlist here .

If you have access to laundry facilities at your destination, PackPoint even allows you to account for washing your clothes and wearing them multiple times.

Best apps to use during your flight

Timeshifter.

we go trip app

What better way to cure jet lag than with an app? Timeshifter actually helps you avoid jet lag long before your flight takes off and also offers inflight and post-flight suggestions. The app relies on neuroscience research about sleep and circadian rhythms to provide personalized recommendations, taking into consideration your age, gender and normal sleep patterns — as well as specifics about your trip and travel plans. Timeshifter maps out when you should avoid or seek light, take a nap or try to stay awake. It even tells you if you should consider supplementing with melatonin or caffeine.

Your first jet lag plan is free, then $9.99 per plan, or you can enjoy unlimited plans for a year for $24.99.

Flying can cause anxiety — or provide a welcome relief from constant contact with our digital devices. Either way, use travel as an opportunity to relax, meditate or listen to soothing sounds that will lull you to sleep or a deep, relaxed state. Or, perhaps, you'll simply find it helps pass the time during a long flight.

Calm offers meditations on topics such as self-awareness, calming anxiety, breathing, lowering stress levels and happiness, among others. The app also has music options for focusing, relaxing and sleeping, as well as stories for adults and content for kids.

A limited selection of meditations and music is available for free (which you can download to use when you're offline or in flight). The premium version of the app costs $14.99 per month or $69.99 annually.

OK, so Netflix isn't really a travel app, but it can be a lifesaver during a long flight on an aircraft without seatback inflight entertainment or at the airport during an unexpected flight delay or boring layover. If you have a Netflix account, the app allows you to download your favorite shows onto your device to watch offline.

Just make sure to download your shows while connected to Wi-Fi before flying and check them again preflight to make sure they haven't expired (you can usually renew any expired downloads, but you must be connected to Wi-Fi or data to do so). Monthly prices vary depending on the plan.

Another app that's not really a travel app, Spotify can still be incredibly useful during tedious travel moments — just pop in those noise-canceling headphones and listen to your favorite music, meditations, podcasts and more.

The app's Premium plans (prices vary) allow you to download all your content offline on your phone, so you'll have it during long flights or when you don't have data or Wi-Fi access. Whether you want to take a morning jog in Bali to your favorite tunes or pass the time with a podcast on the metro in Barcelona, Spotify has it all.

Best apps to use in your destination

From exchanging money and sightseeing to communicating and knowing all the local tips and tricks, you don't want to land in a foreign city for the first time without these key apps.

Google Maps

we go trip app

Google Maps is essential when visiting a new city (or even for getting around your hometown). You can map locations, get directions (walking, driving, public transportation, ride-hailing services and beyond) and see how crowded your subway will be in select cities .

You can make restaurant reservations, save your favorite spots and read and write reviews of attractions, eateries, shops and more. Make sure to download specific city or area maps ahead of time for offline access if you know you'll be without internet at your destination. For obvious reasons, the app works best when your GPS is turned on.

WhatsApp is a handy messaging service for travelers abroad as it uses an internet connection to avoid SMS fees.

It works like most other messaging apps: You start by creating an account, then add your friends and family members to contact and voila! You're able to call, video chat and send messages, images, voice memos, gifs and files just as you would in, say, iMessage (but with Android users too). You can also download WhatsApp on your Windows or Mac computer.

TheFork is one of the most useful resources for making restaurant reservations in Europe. Similar to OpenTable or Resy, the app lets you browse different restaurants by category and make reservations. TheFork features more than 60,000 restaurants in cities like London, Madrid and Geneva, as well as spots outside of Europe like Sydney, Australia.

The biggest perk is that many restaurant reservations come with discounts — in some cases, you can get up to 50% off your meal just by reserving a table through TheFork. Since we here at TPG are always down for earning rewards, make sure to monitor your YUMS — TheFork's reward system. You'll earn YUMS with each reservation, and when you hit 1,000, you receive a discount on your bill. Foodie travelers should also consider downloading these apps , too.

Due to traffic in Paris we arrived late to attend the Eiffel Tower tour. The “We Go Trip” leader was not present. Calling the emergency telephone number, the operator was less than helpful. Suggested we walked towards the Eiffel Tower to see if we could locate the guide. We suggested to attend the next tour, was told need to repurchase. The company is not fit for purpose. Hello! Your tour was meant to be an audio tour, it does not have a real guide or a leader. It's a mobile application that is meant to be downloaded on a mobile phone. Once it is downloaded you can listen to the audio guide. If you had difficulties downloading the app please contact us via [email protected], we will make a refund for the guide for you. As for the tickets no refund is possible if you were late for your timeslot.

Meet Batumi

When I arrived in Batumi at the beginning of the tourist season, I planned to spend the first day getting to know the city. I downloaded Wegotrip on the advice of acquaintances, and it turned out to be a great and easy solution for exploring the city on foot. The 2-hour audio tour helped me get used to the old part of the city and learn some interesting facts about Batumi. I don't like big tour groups, so I recommend these app to walking tour lovers like me.

Dear Serjio! Thank you for your feedback. We are very happy to know that you had a wonderful experience with our app and tour. See you on our next tour programs.

easy & useful app

Downloading the app was straightforward... Adding the relevant audio guide requires the purchase code ... The app works great, you have to scan waypoints to make the audio guide continue, if you can't find one you get the option to skip the scan process and the audio guide continues. Kids loved the interaction of the app, don't forget you need headphones.

Amazing experience!

Enjoyed the tour a lot! Very light and easy to take in, not overloaded with information and dates though provides interesting insights into the history of the Pergamon museum exhibition. It was great, thank you!

Don’t recommend- They sold me a ticket to Park Guell in…

They sold me a ticket to Park Guell in Barcelona, for a specific date and time, but the park was sold out. I called and the company asked if I wanted to go the following day. I was already at the location, so this felt very scammy Now I wait to see if I can get the refund

Date of experience : April 02, 2023

Hello! We are sorry to hear about your negative experience. However sometimes it happens so that the system shows available tickets that are actually not available anymore because they are sold in a minute sometimes. We always offer to choose the other date or make the full refund. Of course we will make the full refund for you. It will take us 3-5 working days. We are sorry for the inconvenience!

This is a scam ticket reseller

This is a scam ticket reseller. It tricks you into paying double. And when I called to cancel a few minutes later - they processed it on the spot so I can’t cancel anymore. Don’t use it. They should be illegal.

Date of experience : July 17, 2022

We're sorry this happened to you. We do not mark up tickets at all, most likely you bought an audio tour with a ticket from us and, according to the policy of the museum, tickets were non-refundable. Therefore, we were unable to cancel the order. Write to us at [email protected], most likely we will be able to make a partial refund of your order for the audio tour.

7 Useful Apps Every Traveler Should Know About

Technology continues to make travel easier for millions of people around the globe. New apps offer travelers fresh ways to research a destination, connect with fellow globetrotters, communicate with locals, and track their flights. As a full-time digital nomad , I’ve learned the importance of having the right tools at your disposal when on the road.

Over the past few years, I’ve visited dozens of countries, flown hundreds of thousands of miles, and tested countless apps to find the ones that prove to be the most helpful. And while tools like Meetup, Google Maps, Google Translate, currency converters, and vacation rental , airline, and hotel–specific apps are in fact indispensable on most trips, I find that many of the best travel apps are still undiscovered by my fellow travelers.

Below, seven travel apps that make life on the go markedly easier (and more fun), from real-time flight trackers to photo-sharing gems—all of these apps are free, but some have paid pro versions worth considering. Don’t think these apps are only for full-time travelers—they prove useful for every type of traveler, whether you're in a brand-new destination or back for a return visit.

Discover the best apps for travelers:

Apps for flying, apps for exploring, apps for photo sharing.

Image may contain: Aircraft, Airliner, Airplane, Transportation, Vehicle, and Flight

My favorite app on this list is Flighty, a must-have for any frequent flier . The free version is fantastic, but I recommend splurging for the premium version, which gives you even more useful information and comes at a reasonable cost of $48 per year. The functionality it provides more than justifies the price.

The free version allows you to input all future flights plus past journeys you've taken within the last year. It provides updated information if any schedule changes occur to upcoming flights and allows you to track all the miles you’ve flown in one place.

The other main benefit is that it allows you to share your flight information with friends and family members who are also on Flighty. They will receive real-time updates about your flight without you having to text them. My parents love to make sure I’m safe so they appreciate getting detailed information about my travels—even while I’m in the air.

Image may contain: Gun, Weapon, Shooting, and Spiral

Flightradar24 is a favorite app among fellow aviation geeks. It lets you track almost any aircraft you see in the air throughout the day or night. You can track your own flight, a friend's flight, or any plane you see in real-time. It shares plenty of cool data, like the altitude, speed, arrival and departure airports and times, and tail number.

Image may contain: Logo, and First Aid

There are tons of eSIM apps on the market, but Airalo is probably my favorite, with digital SIM cards available for dozens of countries. I find it to be the most reliable and offers the best data packages. It can be a little pricey, but it is the best option if you’re only taking short trips. Holafly is another eSIM app that offers unlimited data and works well, but I find the app to be much more glitchy than Airalo and would recommend using the desktop version.

Image may contain: Symbol, First Aid, Text, and Logo

This one is for the planner of the group. Wanderlog merges the best of a bunch of different apps into one. Imagine an app that lets you plan a trip with ease: collaborate with friends as if you’re on Google Docs, manage expense tracking like Splitwise, and have a central place for your reservations, checklists, and more. Tripit is a similar travel planner app, so you can download both and get a feel for which interface you like better.

Image may contain: Paper, and Ice

Been allows you to track the countries you’ve visited and make a wish list of places you can’t wait to cross off your travel bucket list . It gives you information like the percentage of the globe you’ve been to and shows you a world map of your trips. It’s always fun to add in a new country whenever I reach my destination.

Image may contain: Sign, Symbol, Road Sign, and Weapon

This app was introduced to me by fellow nomads I met at a cafe in Montevideo, Uruguay . It automatically tracks your route across the world, allowing you to quickly upload pictures throughout your travels that can be viewed by anyone who has access to your profile. It’s an excellent way to share important moments with loved ones without needing to send photos to each person individually. Users can also create easily accessible guides filled with up-to-date information to help you plan your own trip.

Image may contain: Symbol, Number, Text, and First Aid

Steller is another app that a friend recently introduced me to, and I’ve quickly fallen in love with it. It uses a combination of AI and user experiences to help you plan trips around the globe. From recommendations of things to see, like the Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires or the Royal Palace of Naples, to full guidebooks created by users, you can get inspired, book experiences, and discover hidden gems within this app.

Clear History pops up a window asking you to confirm. If you click Yes , all your recent search history is removed from your device.

Delete my data pops up a window which gives you an email address to contact should you want to remove all personal data from Here WeGo. This makes the company compliant with the EU’s GDPR legislation. The email address if you need it is [email protected] .

we go trip app

Traffic determines whether real-time traffic information is displayed within the app allowing for more accurate routing and estimation of time to destination.

Note: Traffic requires a data connection, so, especially if roaming, be aware that you could incur charges for using this.

Even if you don’t have data when out and about, we find it useful to keep this setting on as you can at least see traffic for the first destination. Plus, if you go somewhere with WiFi, you can again see traffic before you set off.

Note: Traffic requires the app to be in online mode as well as enabled on this screen.

The two radio icons switch between Here WeGo being able to track details of your drive for the purposes of generating traffic data at all times or only when the app is running.

SETTINGS NAVIGATION

Voice options  allows you to download additional voices to be used when navigating. From the settings, select Voice options and then  Choose Voices .

we go trip app

This takes you to a list of all the voices available, arranged alphabetically, with any installed voices at the top of the list.

To delete an installed voice, select the Dustbin icon. To install an additional voice, select it from the list and it will be downloaded so you can use it offline. Once downloaded it will appear in the main voice options screen, from where you can choose which voice to use using the radio icons . If you choose None there will be no spoken directions when navigating.

we go trip app

Day/Night view  allows you to select between:

• Auto Switch will switch between day and night mode based on the ambient light.

• Day only will force the app to work in day mode at all times.

• Night only will force the app to work in night mode at all times.

we go trip app

Speed Alerts  allows you to be given visual and audible alerts if you are exceeding the speed limit while using the app

• The toggle switch turns speed alerts on and off.

If speed alerts are on:

• The first slider allows you to set the tolerance before the alert will be displayed on roads where the limit is under 50 mph or 80 km/h.

• The second slider allows you to set the tolerance before the alert will be displayed on roads where the limit is 50 mph or 80 km/h or over.

You are in Map Mode when the app first opens, but to get there at other times; from the main screen, click the  Hamburger Icon  and select Map .

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

we go trip app

To see more options for that line,  click on the line to open a screen with more departure options and their terminus stations. Also from the previous screen, you can  click See more departures. This will show more departures on all lines from that station together with their terminuses.

We’ve used this in cities such as Paris and London which have good public transport networks. To make the best of it, you will require a data connection as the app can then show real-time information about the next bus, train or tram. But even with the app offline, it can still send you to the right station or stop to take you on the quickest journey through a city.

we go trip app

The top icon is to switch to satellite view,  click again to revert back to map view (Satellite view requires a data connection).

The second icon shows Transit lines on the map, the centre image below shows the District/Circle Lines (Green/Yellow) running along the embankment, the Picadilly Line (Blue) crossing the top left of the map and the riverboats running along the Thames.

The third icon shows Traffic on the roads (this option requires a data connection). In the image below you can see green meaning roads are clear, yellow meaning some delays, red meaning severe delays and black meaning the road is closed.

we go trip app

Click the house icon in the top right of the map screen. From there, you can set your home location by searching for it, or choosing your current location if you are at home when setting it. Once you’ve chosen your home location a screen similar to the navigate screen will appear showing your location on the map.

we go trip app

To edit your home location,  press and hold the small house icon and a menu like this will open up. You can edit your home location, remove it so you no longer have a home location set or add the home location shortcut to your home screen in case you didn’t do it originally or accidentally removed it.

You are in Drive Mode when navigating, but to get there at other times; from the main screen, click the  Hamburger Icon  and select  Drive . Clicking on the bottom status icons will take you to the Drive Mode configuration screen.

we go trip app

We’ll go through each of the settings clockwise in turn below:

Traffic toggles the traffic mode on and off, detail settings will be taken from the setting in the main settings screen for Traffic.

Display opens a new window where you can configure what information appears at the bottom of the screen in Drive Mode.

we go trip app

Navigation  configures what is displayed when you are being navigated to a destination.

You can choose any of the below five options to appear in each slot, however, if you use the app in portrait mode, only the first two options will be displayed.

To change what is displayed in a slot, click the  edit icon .

Select the one you want in this slot by clicking on the radio icon and then  Close.

Options are:

• Arrival time – the estimated time you will arrive at your destination.

• Time to go – the time you have left to travel before you arrive at your destination.

• Distance to go – the distance you have left to travel before you arrive at your destination.

• Traffic delay – The delay you will encounter due to traffic before you arrive at your destination. (Note: This option will only show the delay if you have a data connection)

• Direction – The compass direction you are travelling in right now.

we go trip app

Tracking  configures what is displayed when the app is running in Drive Mode, but you are not being navigated.

You can choose any of the below three options to appear in each slot, however, if you use the app in portrait mode, only the first two options will be displayed.

Select the one you want in this slot by clicking on the radio icon and then  Close .

• Distance driven – The distance driven since you opened the app.

• Time driving – The time spent driving since you opened the app.

Here you can see the display of the additional information box when the app is used in landscape mode.

Speed is always displayed as the first information box on the left.

Map options  and Route prefs. are described below.

Speed alerts opens a similar menu as from the main settings menu, but with the additional option to turn the audible alert on and off which at the time of writing cannot be done from the main settings menu.

Traffic opens a window allowing you to toggle traffic on and off, but without the additional options of choosing when traffic data is collected that is available from the main settings menu.

Units allows the selection between Metric, Imperial UK and Imperial US the same as from the main settings menu.

Voice options opens a similar menu as from the main settings menu, allowing you to choose which voice to use and download additional ones.

Changes made in this menu are reflected where applicable in the main settings menu and vice versa.

we go trip app

Map orientation allows you to choose from the following three options:

• A 3D “birds-eye” view with the map angled in the direction of travel.

• A 2D “top-down” view with the map rotated so that the direction of travel is always towards the top of the screen.

• A 2D “top-down” view with the map not rotated, so north is always at the top.

Day/Night view  opens a similar menu as from the main settings menu to choose whether to switch between day and night automatically or always show one or the other.

Landmarks  toggles the display of landmarks on the map on and off.

Auto-zoom  toggles between the app choosing the appropriate zoom level at any time or allowing the user to “pinch-to-zoom” and fix the zoom at that level.

3D buildings  toggles the display of 3D buildings in some cities on the map on and off.

Changes made in this menu are reflected where applicable in the main settings menu and vice versa.

we go trip app

Route prefs. allows you to toggle various options to tell the app whether to route via certain road types.

Unticking an option means the app will not route via that road type or mode of transport.

It’s worth reviewing this screen to see how you have it configured as it can explain odd behaviour in the app. Avoiding ferries, for example, could have the app taking you the long way around an estuary, while allowing unpaved roads could see you navigated down roads which you might prefer you weren’t driving your car.

However you have these configured, it’s worth checking in here and making changes if you find the app taking you on a route that doesn’t look the most sensible option.

NAVIGATION OPTIONS

Here WeGo can give you travel times between any two places, not just your location and a chosen destination. We use this when planning trips so we know how long the travel time between sights will be.

we go trip app

To change your start location, choose the destination location so the app is showing you the options to get there and  click on the Top section. This will expand the location section and open the keyboard so you can enter a start location . If you want to revert to your location,  click the small green icon.

we go trip app

The icons along the top of the screen allow you to choose your travel options.

The leftmost icon will show you all travel options that make sense from your location and can be very useful when navigating cities. Here, using the underground train would have only saved 3 minutes over walking, so it might be easier just to walk.

In order, the icons are then for Driving, Public Transport, Car Sharing, Taxi, Cycling and Walking.

Clicking the cog icon will take you into a settings screen where you can choose the types of options you given when selecting all.

You can configure the Drive option by selecting the types of roads to allow. This is the same list of options as in the main settings screen above and the settings sync between the two.

You can then choose whether to show each of the travel options on the routing screen.

If you deselect an option, it’s icon won’t show on the routing screen and it won’t show in the list if the all travel options is selected.

And that’s it! We hope you find  HERE WeGo  as useful an addition to your travel toolkit as we do.

Suyapa Ramos of Jersey City went on vacation recently to the tropical Turks and Caicos Islands. She enjoyed her stay in what seemed to her like paradise, but on her last day there, her heavenly trip turned into a nightmare.

It was late at night on March 10. She was ready to leave a bar and asked the bartenders there for help getting a ride back to her hotel, since taxi companies were closed then, Ramos, 48, wrote .

Davidson Martin, 29, a local man, offered her a ride. She got into the car and, within seconds, he started growling and beating her up, she alleges.

“That was the scariest thing I had to encounter — to come face to face with evil,” Ramos told ABC news . “While he was beating me, he was growling at me, he was trying to poke my eye out,” she added.

Ready for summer? These 10 beaches are the best worldwide, according to Tripadvisor

Ramos fought for her life and managed to jump out of the car and onto the road. She flagged passersby down who were able to take her to the hospital.

Today, Ramos is back in Jersey with cuts, bruises and eye and hearing damage. She opened a GoFundMe fundraiser to help cover medical expenses, which includes the cost for eye surgery.

"I cannot work or provide for myself as I am dealing with the damage to my face and body. That require extensive medical treatment/attention," she wrote on the fundraiser.

Martin was arrested by local police and charged with one count of grievous bodily harm, local police reported .

Ramos hopes to raise enough money to also cover her travel expenses as she will be traveling back to Turks and Caicos for Martin's trial scheduled for May, she wrote on the fundraiser.

Its a good so far but i face problem

This is my first time to use this app and i book the flights but i faced problem when i book the cheapest price of the flight i choose, i am in payment method already and give already my credit card information when suddenly said that the flight i choose is already not available, i was in panic already, but i try to calm myself, and try another one, the second cheapest flight, and its already worked, i finally booked my flight, but for now i did not yet use my booked flight because its on december, i noticed that the name of airport only was stated without terminal number 1,2 or 3. I an quit confused where to go for my departure, Hopefully next time my booking the itinerary will already stated the number of certain airports if theres any, for us to know where we go to our departure. But so far its ok i will wait my booked flight to use it, hopefully i will not face any problem during my boarding.

Always Be Careful!

The last time I used this App and booked my flight/s was about a year ago. It was really good to use at first. Its flight deals were competitive in the market. However, then I was experienced app errors/ a fraud action from booking a flight set to be at a different airport and in a different city than the city/airport I chose to take off from. So, I contacted Wego Staff/Support, explained my bad booking experience, and provided with booking document/s and photo evidence from Wego App showing the error/deceiving action that I was put in to get refunded. Unfortunately, the Support has not showed any understanding and customer care principles, and since then I have not been refunded.
We are sorry to hear you have problems with our app. It would be useful if you could provide some further information and send us an email at: [email protected] so that we can investigate further.

Kate middleton seen in new video enjoying windsor farm shop with william, kate middleton new video shows her happy, healthy with william, exclusive 7.2k 3/18/2024 1:00 pm pt.

The Kate Middleton sighting that got reported on this week is real after all -- 'cause a new video of her during this outing has surfaced ... and TMZ's got a first look.

TMZ has obtained a clip that was taken of Kate Saturday while she and Prince William were visiting a business about a mile from their home in Windsor -- known as the Windsor Farm Shop -- where The Sun reported eyewitnesses saw them out and about this past weekend.

Onlookers felt she looked "happy, relaxed and healthy" as she strolled in the store -- a supermarket of sorts -- and the couple didn't seem to have a care in the world.

Their three kids weren't with them ... but The Sun also claimed they spent the first part of their Saturday watching the children play sports. At first, there was no real evidence to back up the report ... but now, the first actual visual of her here has surfaced, and it's 100% her.

As you see in this footage, obtained by TMZ, Kate looks relaxed in casual athletic wear ... rocking an all-black look with some pink trimming. Her gait is strong -- a good sign given her purported abdominal surgery. PW is right by her side as they walk out of the Farm Shop with bags in hand.

Nobody around looks to be bothering them ... and Kate, sure enough, does indeed look pretty cheerful here -- smiling wide and even carrying on a conversation with her husband.

One of the eyewitnesses who saw them, Nelson Silva , says ... "I noticed a couple choosing loaves of bread and the woman turned her face and I felt like I had seen the face before. It was familiar. I knew it from somewhere."

He adds, "I went to my car and as they came out of the shop I just filmed them. I think they walked out through a gate out of the grounds. They just vanished and I didn't see a car. I just wanted to share with my family footage and show just how normal they were."

Silva finishes ... "Kate looked happy and relaxed. They look happy just to be able to go to a shop and mingle. Kate looked relieved like it was a success going to a shop. It felt natural."

The couple was walking at a relatively brisk pace ... and Kate, on its face, seems to be okay. Frankly, it's as if nothing was ever wrong with her ... although, of course, we know she was in the hospital for a while for a serious procedure that took her out of commission.

The exact nature of her ailment was never made clear by Kensington Palace officials.

BTW, for all the skeptics who might not believe this was taken as it's been relayed to us -- we've delved into the metadata ... and there's no doubt, this was filmed on Saturday right near the Prince and Princess of Wales' home in Windsor. So yes, it's a legitimate video.

Like we said, this is the first time we've seen Kate out in public -- outside of a car, that is -- since December -- and now that we're seeing her in the wild, on her own two feet, ya gotta wonder if this will satisfy conspiracy theorists who have taken over TikTok.

Remember, the Palace says she underwent abdominal surgery in January -- and was scheduled to be sidelined until at least Easter. Despite this timeline ... that hasn't stopped people from floating jokes/conspiracy theories, which got gravely serious on Mother's Day.

Of course, we're referring to the Photoshop fail seen 'round-the-world ... which showed that Kate (or someone at Kensington Palace) tried to pull a fast one on the public. There were 16 alterations made to the photo ... and it's been debunked as a fake many times over.

Kate ended up copping to it herself ... albeit, in nothing but a social media statement. Lots of people felt she was falling on the sword and that the Palace was behind the edits.

After that botched job ... everyone thought something very serious was going on -- but now, we're seeing Kate out and about and seemingly fine.

Are you believing your lying eyes?

Old news is old news be first.

I traveled beyond the Arctic Circle to see the Northern Lights. Here are 4 things to know before you go.

  • I traveled north of the Arctic Circle to a tiny village in Finland for a chance to see the northern lights.
  • I booked a tour as far north as I could afford for the best chance of seeing the colorful auroras.
  • The location made viewing the northern lights easier, but they were different than I expected.

Insider Today

In February, I finally checked off one of my top bucket list items — seeing the aurora borealis, better known as the northern lights.

The auroras occur when charged solar particles from the sun interact with the Earth's upper atmosphere, resulting in an array of colorful lights beaming from the planet's poles. They occur year-round but can only be seen in winter months during the long polar nights.

I journeyed all the way to Finland's northernmost municipality, Utsjoki, about 280 miles north of the Arctic Circle. The trek required two plane rides from New York to Ivalo, Finland, via Helsinki, plus a two-hour drive deep into the snow-covered Lapland.

The secluded village is home to Aurora Holidays , the tour company I used for my trip. I paid about $2,000 total, which included guides, full room and board, a village tour, reindeer feeding, a king crab fishing trip in Norway, and dog sledding — though prices have increased since I booked. Flights on Finnair were another $1,000.

Aurora Holidays boasts a 100% success rate over five years of seeing the auroras thanks to a lack of light pollution in the northern location — and, fortunately, the streak continued on my trip.

Here are four things to know when planning a trip to see the aurora lights and why I recommend getting as far north as possible to maximize your chances — even if it means facing bone-chilling temperatures and relying on a little bit of luck.

Location, location, location

While recent environmental phenomena have made the northern lights visible in places as far south as England and Denmark, the aurora borealis are best viewed within the Article Circle.

The far north is hard to reach, though, and popular viewing spots like Fairbanks, Alaska, Tromsø, Norway, and Canada's Northwest Territories sit below the 66° 34' N latitude that defines the region.

Plus, these often-crowded tourist destinations have light pollution that requires people to venture out of the city into darker areas to see the lights.

Utsjoki, however, is so remote that it offers complete darkness during the long polar nights. Even better, my accommodation was perfectly situated facing north across Lapland — meaning I could see the auroras from my cabin porch.

"A lot of people don't know that for the highest possibilities to see the lights, location matters," Aurora Holiday's owner, Tiina Salonen, told me during the tour. "The rule of thumb is that the further north you travel, the less [solar] activity you need to have lights in the sky."

Related stories

Other places within the Arctic Circle, like Abisko National Park in Sweden or Ilulissat, Greenland, are also good viewing spots.

Pack for below-zero temperatures

During my trip, the temperature reached -8°F, which is even colder than what I experienced in Antarctica . Fortunately, my previous polar expedition taught me how to pack.

I opted for a merino wool base layer from REI, which I prefer due to its moisture-wicking abilities . I also wore a fleece pullover and a Kathmandu puffer as my mid-layers and a 600-fill jacket as my shell. I also wore snow pants, ski gloves, wool socks, a fleece buff, a beanie, and hiking boots.

All of that combined, I was easily warm enough to stand outside under the lights. I also recommend bringing hand and foot warmers if you plan to do other winter activities like snowshoeing or snowmobiling.

One thing to remember about going to extremely remote places like northern Lapland is how far you are away from a proper hospital — the closest to Utsjoki being a few hour's drive, according to Tiina. Wearing the right clothes to prevent frost bite or illness is important, but it wouldn't hurt to get travel insurance , too — just in case.

The vibrant colors that appear in photos are not what humans see

Not every color of the northern auroras is visible to the naked eye. During my trip, I could clearly see streaks of green and white, but the intensity and array of colors were more vivid in photos taken on my iPhone.

Tiina explained this is because cameras can take in more light than a human's nighttime vision can, therefore allowing it to capture otherwise invisible colors, like pink, red, and purple.

I'll admit that the auroras were much fainter than I expected, but that didn't take away from the beauty. Nevertheless, some people may be disappointed it isn't the extravagant Disney-like display social media sometimes makes it seem.

Seeing the lights takes a little bit of luck

During my six-day, five-night tour in Utsjoki, we only saw the auroras once — which is the reality of lights chasing, and why I booked a longer vacation to better my odds of seeing them.

That night was perfectly clear, and the solar activity was relatively strong, allowing the beautiful green beams to dance across the sky. The other nights, however, were too cloudy to see anything.

"The lights are there, but if it is super cloudy — we can't, of course, see them," Tiina told me. I noticed this when I was further south in Ivalo before and after the tour in Utsjoki. I couldn't see the auroras either night I was there due to the clouds, even though the online tracker said they were out.

Sometimes tour companies like Tiina's can drive around to find pockets where the auroras are visible, but it's not always possible — which makes seeing the lights a roll of the dice and why I now warn people to manage their expectations before booking a trip.

"Even here in Utsjoki, we cannot guarantee the lights — after all, it is a natural phenomenon, and Mother Nature is in charge," Tiina said.

Gadgets, apps and packing tips: Travel writers' must haves on every trip

"Easy Travel” is a 10-part series focusing on how to reduce bumps during vacations, anticipate roadblocks and be ready when things aren’t going your way. If you'd like to contribute to our future reporting and share your experience as a source, you can click here to fill out this quick form .

If you only travel a few times a year, it can be a little overwhelming. There are weird regulations and lots of different lines in the airport. Hotels and rental cars can have lots of confusing terms and conditions attached to booking, and going somewhere unfamiliar can be disorienting.

But there are plenty of products out there designed to help make it all less stressful. I talked to my colleague Wilson Santiago Burgos, founder of Mochileando.com and regular contributor here at USA TODAY. We brainstormed some of our must-have apps, gadgets and credit cards for when we’re on the road.

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

Here’s what we came up with.

What are some good travel apps?

Santiago said Google Flights is his go-to site for searching for the best deals, and added that it’s a good idea to research which platforms typically have the best hotel offerings in different regions.

He said Expedia is a good app in the U.S., but if you’re traveling to Asia, Booking and Agoda are the best.

Keep in mind that third-party booking platforms like Orbitz, Kayak and the rest may have good deals, but can also be more complicated to deal with if something goes wrong, like a flight delay or cancellation. Just make sure you double-check the terms and conditions if you don’t book directly with the hotel or airline.

I’m pretty simple when it comes to the actual travel day: I typically just download the airline app for whatever carrier I’m flying and make sure to stay up to date on any changes to my itinerary. FlightRadar24 and FlightAware are helpful for that, too, and I know many other travel professionals who say the Flighty app is a big help on their own trips.

Here are some of Travel + Leisure’s top-ranked free travel apps :

  • PackPoint : an easy way to make a checklist, as Santiago recommended.
  • Dayuse.com: Search for hotel rooms that are available for odd-timed stays on long layovers.
  • GasBuddy : Find the cheapest gas prices for your road trip.
  • Eatwith : Grab a meal with locals and make new connections while you travel.
  • Flush : for when you need to find a toilet.

What items do people need when traveling?

All the typical tech advice applies: having a smartphone with you can be a big help, not just for things like airplane boarding passes and mobile room keys, but also for keeping connected while you’re on the go.

“If you are traveling internationally, it’s very important to check if you have roaming. If you don’t have roaming, I recommend buying an electronic SIM card,” Santiago said. He added that an external power pack, AC adaptors for international destinations, and his tablet and laptop are also on his list.

Even if you don’t have roaming service, you can download sections of Google Maps for offline use, which can be a big help if you’re navigating an unfamiliar city without cellphone service. Not all of the features are available in offline mode, but you can at least use the basic GPS functions to orient yourself.

Here are some of the best gadgets to have with you when you travel, according to Travel + Leisure :

  • Tile or Apple AirTag: to keep track of your luggage .
  • Noise-canceling headphones: Find the ones that you like the best and tune out those screaming children.
  • Tablets and e-readers.
  • An external power pack.
  • Universal charging cables.
  • Power adapters.

How do you pack things for a trip?

It’s always a good idea to keep essentials with you in your carry-on. Things like medicine and at least a day’s worth of clothes, maybe two days', in case something goes awry with your trip. Of course, chargers are a good thing to bring with you as well, and most airlines prohibit many electronics from traveling in checked bags these days because of the fire risk they present.

“I recommend everybody should use a checklist every time you travel to make sure you travel,” Santiago said, noting that writing down what you need ahead of time is a good way to ensure you don’t forget anything.

Flying with breast milk or formula?: Don't worry about liquid limits. Here's what to know.

Which credit card to use for travel?

Many credit cards are designed for frequent travelers and come with perks like lounge access, compensation or waived fees, and even cover registration for programs like Global Entry, TSA Precheck and Clear.

Some of the high-end credit cards like the Amex Platinum or Chase Sapphire Reserve have annual fees that run hundreds of dollars, but there are less expensive cards meant for more infrequent travelers that have perks like no foreign transaction fees or bonus points for booking travel.

The easiest reward program? What to know about Expedia Group's new One Key loyalty program

“There is not (one) best credit card for travel, there are different credit cards for different kinds of travelers, and you should find the best option for you,” Santiago said.

He added, though, that enrolling in Precheck and Global Entry is a good idea even for infrequent travelers, so it’s worth considering exploring cards that include that benefit.

“If you have TSA Precheck and Global Entry, use the program to travel because you will save a lot of time at the airports,” he said.
