Cruise Cabin Crawls – What Are They and How Do You Join?

If you’ve ever taken a cruise, or are considering your first you may have seen something called a ‘cruise cabin crawl’ mentioned. Cruise cabin crawls are becoming increasingly popular and many people take part in a cabin crawl on every cruise. In this article, we will look at what cruise cabin crawls are, how you can attend one, and what the most popular cabin crawls are.

What is a Cabin Crawl?

A cabin crawl is an event organized by passengers on a cruise, where they visit each other’s cabins. It’s usually used as a way to see various cabin grades on a cruise ship and often takes place early in the cruise.

Many cabin crawls are for the purpose of simply visiting other cabins. Some can have a different focus and be around having a drink in each cabin/enjoying snacks and gifts with fellow guests.

Who Organizes Cabin Crawls?

Cruise cabin crawls are usually organized by the passengers and are mostly unofficial. In some situations, you may find that the cruise line will organize a similar event but it’s primarily the guests that organize the cabin crawls.

On new ships or media cruises, you may find that the cruise line organizes a cabin crawl as a way to show passengers new cabins.

If you are organizing a cabin crawl on a cruise it’s usually good manners to let the cruise line know about it, especially if you are planning on visiting premium areas like The Haven on Norwegian Cruise Line or the Yacht Club on MSC Cruises. The staff doesn’t really appreciate having lots of guests going in and out of cabins without any warning, understandably so.

Who Can Attend Cabin Crawls?

On some cabin crawls you may only be able to attend if you are happy to have your cabin visited as part of the crawl. Of course, if there are multiple cabins of the same grade it’s unlikely that the crawl will visit all of them.

On most cabin crawls though all guests are able to attend and there aren’t any specific requirements. As cabin calls are usually organized by fellow passengers it’s really at their discretion who they want to allow on the cabin crawl.

Some cabin crawls may limit the number of passengers as it’s difficult to fit too many people in one cabin. It may be the case that the hosts of each cabin stay in their rooms so that not all members get to see each cabin at the same time but then the host doesn’t get to see the other cabins which kind of defeats the point.

Are Cabin Crawls on All Ships?

You’ll find cabin crawls on the majority of mainstream cruise lines and ships. The larger the ship the more chance you’ll have a crawl with different cabin categories but you’ll find cabin crawls even on the smallest of ships.

Cabin crawls are very popular on the big American cruise lines like Carnival, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Royal Caribbean.

How do You Join a Cabin Crawl?

There are a few ways that you can find and join cabin crawls:

One of the most popular ways is using an app called ShipMate. ShipMate is an app that is used to plan cruises and it has a function where you are able to chat with people who will be on your upcoming cruise.

To use shipmate you create a profile and add the cruise that you’ll be going on onto your account. At this point, you’ll be able to join what is called a ‘roll call’ which is basically just a conversation for people on the same cruise. Many people use ship mate roll calls to organize meetups and to plan which cabins will be shown by who.

Cruise Critic

Cruise Critic is a very popular cruising website that has similar functions to the shipmate app. You’ll find ‘roll calls’ for most cruises on Cruise Critic and here you may find somebody organizing a cabin crawl. There is a US and UK version of the Cruise Critic website. If you’re not having any luck finding a roll call for your cruise on the UK portion, try the US or vice versa.

It’s very common to have a Cruise Critic meet up on a cruise where passengers from the roll call meet up for a drink. This is often supported by the cruise line and will be on the daily schedule.

Facebook Groups

Facebook groups are another good way to find cabin crawls. Many specific itineraries will have a Facebook group in which people make friends ahead of their cruise. Some cruise lines like Royal Caribbean and Carnival have vastly more groups on Facebook than smaller lines like Fred Olsen or Cunard.

We have our own Facebook group called Cruising Isn’t Just For Old People . If you’ve not already joined, please do so, it would be lovely to have you in there.

Friendship Groups/Meet-Ups

You may find that certain groups of friends just organize their own cabin crawls. A YouTuber or Blogger who knows many people on a ship may be able to organize something like this on a small scale.

I don’t know about you but whenever I cruise with friends I always visit their cabins for a look around!

Extra Perks of Cabin Crawls

The majority of cabin crawls do focus on simply touring the cabins but you will find some which are focused more on having a drink in each cabin. On some cruise lines cabin crawls organized by some people can turn into what you may be familiar with as a ‘pub crawl’ or ‘bar crawl’.

On cabin crawls like this it’s usually up to the host of each cabin to provide a drink and many will even provide snacks, room service, or gifts from home.

Many people use cabin crawls as a rare opportunity to see inside suites and more expensive cabins than they’d usually be able to cruise in. It’s like having a rich friend!

Royal Suite Cabin Tui Marella Discovery

Cabin Crawl Games

I’ve even heard in some situations about cabin crawls that have an added gambling portion. I’m not sure that these would be approved by the cruise line but as they are mostly unofficial I’m sure that most go unchecked.

One popular gambling game to play is that each person will be given a playing card when they get to each cabin. Whoever has the highest score at the end of the cabin crawl wins the cabin crawl. For cabin crawls like this to work the passengers usually have to put in a certain amount of money at the start in order to play the game and then the winner takes all of the money.

You can join a cabin crawl LIVE with Tony from La Lida Loca below:

To Conclude:

Cabin crawls are events mostly organized my passengers where the guests are able to visit each others cabins. Some cabin crawls may have drinking portions although the majority do not. They are almost always organized prior to the cruise and all guests are free to attend.

On Deck 4, you will find several bars as part of the ship’s Entertainment Place. These include the Attic, Studio B, Jazz on 4, and even the Casino. All of these venues, like many of the other bars onboard, offer cocktails, beers, and wines that are part of the Standard Menu.

This multi-purpose venue hosts comedy shows throughout the cruise, offered at 2 different time slots on most nights. These shows in The Attic are available for pre-booking on your cruise planner prior to sailing. After hours, the Attic turns into a nightclub with the resident DJ spinning the latest hits until the wee hours of the morning.

Any type of music fan will find this intimate venue worth a trip. While it is a rather small space, the vintage decor and pitch-perfect acoustics make it the ideal place to enjoy some smooth tunes. You can relax here after a long day of fun in the sun. While enjoying the live band, Jazz on 4 has waitstaff to grab your drinks of choice.

Even if you don’t like to gamble, getting a drink from the ship’s Casino Bar is a safe bet. The lively bartenders and usually small crowd makes this the perfect bar to grab a quick drink on the go. This bar is also open all hours of the night to sip a cocktail or two while taking a chance at hitting it big. Maybe this time you will hit the jackpot?

Get ready to sing your lungs out! This karaoke bar is a popular place almost any night of the cruise. When other cruisers are not doing their best renditions of Sweet Caroline, the venue also hosts trivia contests and other events. Regardless of the activity, you are sure to work up a thirst, and the complete bar here can mix up any drink to celebrate your performance or provide some liquid courage.

This Latin-inspired venue is a Royal Caribbean staple and your home for some salsa dancing and custom margaritas. Copper and Kettle Pub

Does acoustic guitar music, a wide array of bottled and canned beers, and beer-cocktails sound like a good mix? If so, then the English pub, Cooper and Kettle, will be your stomping ground on Symphony of the Seas. As a fan of brews, I was happy with the selection. Stephen Burke, the featured performer, was also able to belt out classic pub tunes. With its location on the Royal Promenade, this pub is always in the center of all the action.

The cruise line's signature bar, the Schooner Bar is home to our favorite drinks. A properly made Sidecar and the Lavender Daiquiri are a regular for us on any cruise. When you check out this bar on Symphony of the Seas, you can sit back and enjoy the stylings of the ship's featured pianist. The very entertaining Billy Pando played here most nights of our cruise.

Introduction

The royal caribbean blog bar crawls are storied events full of fun, mingling, and watching people try and get their money’s worth from the drink package during a single afternoon., this 5k event bar crawl will begin at the bionic bar on the royal promenade and then we’ll move to various areas of the ship.   want to stay behind   care to run ahead and beat the crowd   do it   remember, you can walk (don’t run) from bar to bar with a drink, and there’s certainly no obligation to get a drink at any given bar.   hopefully this will keep us from overwhelming the friendly bar staff and our friends’ livers..

cruise bar crawl

Stop 1 – Bionic Bar – 2:30pm

(deck 5, royal promenade, starboard-aft corner).

Grab a drink from the bottle-slinging robot at the Bionic Bar, the Boot & Bonnet Pub, or the On-Air Club (if open).   Once you’ve got a beverage in hand, mingle with the group throughout the Royal Promenade for about 30 minutes.

Stop 2 – Schooner Bar – 3:00pm

(deck 6, ‘upper’ royal promenade, port-aft corner).

From the lower part of the Royal Promenade on deck 5, walk aft and take the stairs or lifts up one deck to the Schooner.   Still have a full drink?   Hate nautical-themed bars (and presumably, fun)? Skip the Schooner and take the Rising Tide Bar up to deck 8 and meet us at our third stop.   Note this is dependent on the timing of the Rising Tide Bar, and it only accommodates 16 guests.

Stop 3 – Trellis Bar – 3:20pm

(deck 8, middle of central park, starboard side).

The Trellis Bar is in the middle of Central Park, meaning we’ll get to enjoy the beautiful ambiance of the area as well as some fresh air – which may be pretty important if you’re on your third drink in such short order.   Listen for the crickets, look at the foliage, and maybe secure a reservation at 150 Central Park.   Ya know, since you’re in the neighborhood.

Stop 4 – Solarium Bar – 3:40pm

(deck 15, forward).

Time to elevate the mood and head to the forward lifts and then up 7 decks to the Solarium Bar.   The Solarium is a supremely serene area by day and offers some fantastic views.   By night Big Wonder, the Solarium’s art installation, glows beautifully.   Pro-tip: This is often one of the first bars to open in the morning…we’ve heard.   If you’re starting to get a bit tired from all the, “touring” this is a great place to take a nap.   We’ll tell you all about the rest of the crawl over dinner

Stop 5 – Pool Bar/Sand Bar – 4:00pm

(deck 15, mid-ship, forward of splashaway bay/sports pool).

Head aft toward the pool area and you’ll find the Pool Bar (port) and Sand Bar (starboard).   Pick whichever you’d like and grab a drink with an ocean view.   Both bars look the same, but now that we think about it, you should test and see if there are any differences between their drinks – ya know, for science.   It may be warm, so this is a great time to get one of Matt’s favorite drinks (and the inspiration for today’s event’s name), a Kraken Lava Flow.

Want extra credit?   Run (err, carefully walk) up the outdoor stairs to the port side and visit the Mast Bar!   Wherever you’re filling up, you’d better hurry as this is usually one of the quicker stops on our crawl.

Stop 6 – Wipe Out Bar – 4:20pm

(deck 16, aft, between the flowriders ).

Walk up one deck and head aft to the sports area.   While Wipe Out Bar is one of our favorite spots for relaxing with a view of the ship’s wake, it’s more of a layover on this crawl.   Get a drink if you want, but most of us will be queueing up here for the Ultimate Abyss, the fastest (and most fun) way to get to our final drink destination!

Stop 7 – Playmakers Bar – 4:30pm

(deck 6, boardwalk, port side).

You’ve made it! Almost.   To celebrate another successful Royal Caribbean Blog Group Cruise Bar Crawl, grab a drink, play a game, and get a snack. Oh, perhaps have some water, too.   Pro-tip: If you want a beer flight (1 st , wow – you’re finishing a bar crawl with a flight?!) and have a drink package, you’ll be happy to know that you’re covered – so try a variety of beer!

5 Cruise Ports to Pub Crawl

Whether you’ve never heard of a pub crawl before or you’re known for mastering the pub crawl, we’ve got you covered. In case you don’t know, a pub crawl is basically moving from one drinking establishment to the next and drinking at all of them until you’ve finished the crawl. In some cases, you get t shirts proclaiming your accomplishments, but mostly you get epic bragging rights.

We’ve done the research, walked the miles and drank all the drinks to bring you our list of the top 5 Cruise Ports for a Pub Crawl:

Nassau, Bahamas

IMG_0862

A popular cruise destination with plenty to offer, this island paradise features a variety of fun, charming, local, elegant, or hole-in-the-wall bar options. If you can drink it, they will pour it here! You can choose pub crawls on Paradise Island (home of Atlantis) at bars including the Green Parrot, Hammerheads and Fish Fry (almost 30 restaurant/bars in the same stretch of space). Up for something closer to your cruise ship? Start at Senor Frog’s and watch what happens to your day and night!

Juneau, Alaska

IMG_0094

With several amazing craft breweries in this port, pub crawls are a natural excursion options those sailing in Alaska. While you can find organized options to enjoy this pub crawl scene, you can also make your own. Several of the organized options are created and sponsored by the breweries; in January, Alaskan Brewing Company organized one to celebrate their newest beer.  If you’re doing this on your own, expect to see stunning views while walking between bars and don’t forget your raincoat either. Some don’t miss places include: Red Dog Saloon, Hangar on the Wharf, Alaskan Brewing Co. and Island Pub.

Port Canaveral, Florida

photo: flickr creative commons

Surprised to see this port on the list? Just a short ride away from Port Canaveral is Orlando (Theme Park Mecca of Florida), where you’ll find Walt Disney’s Epcot Center. This isn’t your typical pub crawl, but it’s such a fun challenge that it just had to make the list. In Epcot, you’ll find World Showcase which features 11 different countries. And 11 different places to experience different kinds of alcohol – from beers and wines native to each of the countries to specialty mixed drinks. This one’s quite a challenge since it involves the consumption of at least 11 drinks. Make sure you don’t miss the bus back to the cruise ship!

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

photo flickr creative commons

Now this is a fun stop with a few pub crawl options –including some you can book with your cruise line directly. Norwegian Cruise Lines offers a tour directly through them that includes food and drinks on your pub crawl. Or, you can book on your own and in some cases, the crawl is done a boat, giving you access to bars only reachable by water. By doing the pub crawl through a tour, you’ll get a personalized experience from the locals who truly know the best watering holes.

Key West, Florida

IMG_0595

In a port famous for so many things, it’s hard to imagine that a pub crawl could be one of the top attractions, but it most definitely is. A bonus about this pub crawl, it’s really close to the port – making walking or a cab fare really easy to manage. The Duval Street Crawl is the most famous pub crawl here. You can join an ‘official tour’ or you can do your own version. The plan’s pretty simple. Start at the end of the street and make your way down (or up) this famous drag. Famous bars on this bar crawl include Hog’s Breath Saloon, The Bull, Capt. Tony’s Saloon, and Sloppy Joe’s Bar.

Which bar is your must visit on a cruise? Have you ever done any of these semi-famous pub crawls? We’d love to hear your stories, or recommendations.

16 Fantastic Things That Make Holland America Line Unique

T here are so many cruise lines to choose from. What makes one stand out from another? The answer to “Why is Holland America Line unique?” lies in the details and things they offer that sweeten the deal.

Disclosure: This page has affiliate links, meaning we may earn a small commission if you click the link and proceed with a purchase  at no cost to you . We recommend cruises, experiences, products, and services we personally use. As Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

1. Longstanding History on the Seas

Holland America Line’s (HAL) rich history and the evolution of the brand is impressive. What began as a Dutch shipping cargo line has transformed into an international cruise line that sails to seven continents.

In 1872, their first cruise set sail from Rotterdam. It cruised from The Netherlands to NYC with crew, passengers, and cargo. This ship was 269 feet but cruising has come a long way since then. Fast forward to Zuiderdam — the first ship we sailed on with HAL — where we we had 936 feet of ship to enjoy!

From 2022 to 2023, they entered a year-long celebration commemorating 150 years of business; we were proud to sail from Boston to Quebec City with HAL at that time.

In the 1940s, after Germany invaded The Netherlands during WWII, HAL's ships were used for the war effort. When the war ended in 1946, a joyous homecoming took place when Amsterdam (II) sailed home from Southampton to Rotterdam. As the Holland America Line timeline states, “During the course of the war, she travels 530,452 miles and carries 378,361 troops — a record only broken by the Cunard Queens, which are twice the size.” We're veklempt just thinking about this momentous event!

In a post-war world, cruise ships were ever-increasingly popular for the use of leisure trips. A pioneer in Alaska cruises , Holland America Line acquired a 70% majority stake in the Alaska tour company Westours, Inc. in 1971; it acquired 100% of Westours, Inc. by 1977.

Today, the cruise line is owned by Carnival Corporation (who also owns a slew of other popular cruise lines, including Princess Cruises , Seabourn, Cunard , and AIDA). Yet Holland America Line maintains its own identity associated with the cruise lines' Dutch founding.

2. Orange Party on Every Cruise

Why Holland America Line has an “Orange Party” on each cruise lies in the company's name and history.

The cruise line, which has “Holland” at the forefront of the brand, has roots in the Dutch shipping industry. Yet, for a broader understanding of the connection the color orange has with the Dutch, we need to understand one of The Netherlands' annual holidays.

King's Day in The Netherlands

Every year, on April 27, Dutch people celebrate King's Day, which is the date of the King's birthday. The city is dressed in orange, from balloon decorations on business facades to what the residents wear to parties. The color of Konigsdag , as it's officially called in Dutch, is orange because the royal family is called “Huis van Oranje” or “House of Orange.”

This is why the Dutch-rooted cruise line has an orange party!

What is the Orange Party on Holland America Line Like?

The Orange Party is a blast! Guests are encouraged to pack orange clothes to wear to the party before leaving home. Some passengers go as far as wearing orange sequin dresses, and others accessorize with simpler things like orange jewelry or scarves.

If you forget to bring orange but want to join in on the apparel fun, there are orange accessories like headbands and hats available to buy onboard. This little “shop” is simply a table located right next to the party venue.

When we were on our Boston to Canada New England cruise aboard Zuiderdam, the Rolling Stone Lounge was the place to be for this festive party. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres were passed around, and special cocktails were crafted for the evening. We danced for a couple of hours to the live band, celebrating this fun event.

3. Afternoon Tea Time

Who doesn't need an afternoon pick-me-up? Tea time on Holland America Line is the perfect time to enjoy little pastries, tea sandwiches, and, of course…tea! We loved meeting up with new friends for this time of onboard relaxation. It was quite lovely!

HAL's Navigator app is the perfect resource to find out when afternoon tea — or “High Tea,” as it's called — is taking place on select days.

4. Days of the Week Carpet in the Elevator

You know how when you're on vacation, you often forget what day it is? But sometimes you need to know if it's Tuesday or Wednesday for something back home, like messaging a family member or friend on his or her birthday.

We loved that every day, the carpet in the elevators was swapped out to correspond to what day it was. It was a small detail that we very much appreciated.

5. Canaletto Italian Dining

Specialty restaurants are available for dining on Holland America Line in addition to the usual restaurant that is open for every meal. One night of our cruise, we enjoyed dining at Canaletto. This Italian restaurant had delectable antipastas, fresh salads, and homemade pasta, which I am a total sucker for.

Canaletto also has melt-in-your-mouth meat dishes on the menu, like their Ossobuco or Chicken Parmesan, and seafood options, too. If you want to feel like you're in Italy on the Mediterranean, no matter where your cruise is going, get an Aperol Spritz to drink with your meal.

The small upcharge to dine here, which is around $20 per adult, is completely worth it. If you purchased a “Have It All” cruise fare, at least one specialty dining experience is included. More might be included depending on the length of your cruise is.

6. “Have It All” Pricing

Speaking of the “ Have It All ” package — it's completely worth it! You can upgrade your cruise fare to Have It All if it's not what you originally purchased for $55 per person per day.

Three tiers correspond to the length of your cruise and dictate how much of each category is included. These tiers are:

  • 6 to 9-day cruises (excludes cruises less than six days)
  • 10 to 20-day cruises
  • Cruises longer than 20 days (excludes Grand Voyages)

Within the three tiers are four categories of what's included:

  • Drink Package
  • Shore Excursions
  • Specialty Dining

All three tiers, no matter the length of your cruise, include daily WiFi and the Signature Drink Package for the length of your cruise. What varies is how much shore excursion credit you get (the longer the cruise, the more credit you get) and how many specialty dining restaurants you can go to.

If you pay for Have It All for your 6-9 day cruise, for example, and only one specialty restaurant experience is included, you can always pay the separate fee to add on another dining experience.

7. Live Music Galore

If live music is your thing, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy it across multiple venues onboard. Holland America Line has partnerships with New York City's Lincoln Center, Billboard, and Rolling Stone.

Our favorite place to be at night after dinner on Zuiderdam was the Billboard Onboard piano bar. Two pianos are set next to each other, and the two musicians/singers play crowd pleasers for hours each night. We were singing along all night.

8. Holland America Line Navigator App

Cruise line apps are appreciated when they're particularly functional and useful. Another reason why Holland America Line is great is because of their mobile app. It was very easy to use, especially for finding out what activities we wanted to attend at any given time.

The app is available for Apple devices and Android users.

9. Neptune Lounge: Cabanas/Private area

It's always nice when a cruise line has a suites class of some sort that guests can opt to book. Neptune Suites on Holland America Line ships are a special category of staterooms.

Being in this ship-within-a-ship class allows guests access to the Neptune Lounge, outdoor cabanas, and priority embarkation and tendering, as a few examples of the class perks.

10. Bar Events

If a cruise vacation is associated with indulgence, having adult beverages is part of it. Two particular bar events onboard got us excited when we cruised with Holland America Line.

Happy Hour Savings

If you don't opt to include a drinks package with your cruise fare, either as a stand-alone option or with HAL's “Have It All” pricing, you can take advantage of happy hour at select bars around the ship! During our cruise, happy hour started at 4:00 pm and lasted until 5:00 pm. The hour-long specials were for beer, wine, and house spirits.

Bar Crawl

Although we had a drinks package, we signed up for the HAL Bar Crawl. We wanted the experience.

We thought we would go from bar to bar on the ship and quietly enjoy a cocktail or a glass of wine with other guests we would meet. But we were very wrong! Though we met other guests, it was more so a frat party bar crawl rather than the quiet experience we envisioned.

That said, we talked about that bar crawl for months later. The crew leading the event was so enthusiastic! And though we didn’t drink 90% of the cocktails given to us (most were too sweet), we loved traipsing around the ship and singing the song, “We are the Zuiderdam! The mighty, mighty Zuiderdam!” Then, one of the crew members leading the group would yell, “Zuiderdam!!!” And we’d reply with “Bar crawl!!” It was a fun evening activity.

If there are activities on cruises designed to get you out of your comfort zone, we’d say this was one of those for us; we’re glad we did it once.

11. You Can BYOB

Did you know you can bring your own beverages on board? The catch is that it's very specific alcohol and specific quantities. Luckily, the HAL website spells it all out so you don't have to guess.

Here's the synopsis:

  • You can bring wine and champagne onboard, with a max volume of 750 ml or less. There is a corkage fee of $20.
  • If you purchase wine during a company-sponsored shore excursion (like visiting a winery on a HAL-organized excursion), it's exempt from the corkage fee.
  • You can bring your own water onboard if you want. “An allowance of six liters, twelve (12) cans or cartons (500 ml in volume or less) or six (6) cans or cartons (1 liter in volume or less) of water are allowed per stateroom.”
  • Guests are not allowed to bring beverages in plastic containers onboard.

12. They Have Pickleball Onboard

If you haven't heard of Pickleball, it's likely you haven't lived in the United States for a while, where the sport has swept the nation! Holland America Line caught onto this sports trend; they converted some of their outdoor top-deck sports courts to be used for Pickleball .

13. They Have Libraries Onboard

One of the things that most surprised us about cruising with HAL was the onboard library. This makes Holland America Line unique in such a remarkable way! Guests are welcome to borrow books for the duration of the cruise in all categories including fiction, youth, and short story sections.

14. Carpets by the Elevators on Stateroom Decks Point to the Forward or Aft

We always appreciate when a cruise line helps guests find their way in a ship’s design elements. On Princess , we enjoyed that the carpet in the hallways was a different color on the even-number stateroom side vs. the odd-number stateroom side. On Holland America Line, we were grateful that the carpets had arrows pointing toward Forward or Aft.

The photos below illustrate the direction of ship Forward from the Port vs. Starboard side. Since these are opposite sides of the ship, they point in different directions for how a guest would walk toward the front of the ship.

15. Board Games and Puzzles Encourage Guests to Unplug

Guests can enjoy games and puzzles provide by HAL. On Zuiderdam, this was in the Crow’s Nest lounge of the ship on Deck 10.

Playing a game is such a nice way to unplug from devices and bond with other cruisers as you work towards finishing the same puzzle or bond with your partner, friends, or family.

16. They Have Their Own IslanD: Half Moon Cay

Did you know that Holland America Line has their own Caribbean Island? In fact, every Caribbean Cruise itinerary makes a stop there during one day of the cruise.

There are no bar crawls, at least not organized by Carnival. Sometimes individuals will organize them on their own in roll call groups.

Follow me! 🤣

On most cruises I’ve been on, someone has organized a bar crawl. They can be a lot of fun. It’s a good way to meet people on the cruise and worst case, it’s not your thing and you can stop the crawling anytime.

My son and DIL are doing our own bar crawl.  I'm not a big drinker so I doubt I'll make it past 2 or 3.  I would like to hit each bar on the ship during the cruise.  That will be a challenge for me.

I would look for your cruise group on other social media pages.  That is where I have found many events.

That is how I get back to my room some  nights...  Those Alchemy drinks can sneak up

Haha

OP - I hope that you're organizing one for a group of cruisers on your upcoming trip - y'all will have a great time!

I suggest starting at a bar that is not too crazy-loud so that people can at least introduce themselves. I like to pick a signature drink at each bar to recommend to the group. You can also just do a shot at 1 (or more) of your bar stops.

Personally, I like to start towards the bottom of the ship and work my way up. I recommend having a plan for 5-7 stops but don't be bummed if you only make it to 3 or 4 😉

cruise bar crawl

This should be the first thing you do when you hit Moscow

Do not go anywhere in Moscow before you have gone out with these guys. It is the best way to be introduced to Moscow nightlife and people. They take you to a few nightlife spots, not necessarily pubs. The pubs and people change by night, so you could literally do it every night and not go to the same place or with the same people. We started off in a pub, then a live music venue. From there we went to another dance club and ended up in a trendy nightclub. Different activities at different venues, with points awarded for each activity. You don't have to partake, but it helps. I was the only foreigner in this group of 20, but there is enough Moscovites that speak good English, so don't despair if you don't speak Russian. I went back to one of the places we visited as it was an awesome place. Thanks guys.

I can't thank these guys enough for helping making my stay in Moscow worthwhile. I speak no Russian and the staff were very communicative and encouraged everyone there to get to know me. They are all full of energy and everyone was open minded. All the bars we went to were great, especially the last one, the standard, which played great music. Our group was a mix of locals and foreigners and everyone mingled and had a great time. A must do in Moscow.

cruise bar crawl

It was so much fun that me and my friend decided to partake on both friday and saturday night. It's an excellent way to get to know people and to be shown around some nice bars in town. The guys and gals leading the groups of tourists are full of life, young and know how to break the ice. Kirill and Lada have been our main gurus, most possibly just because we didn't get to know the other organizers as well as those two. Thanks for the good times and memories!!! The Italians.

If your keen on a bit of a night out I think you better steer clear cause this is a big night out with mostly Russians, which is what you want. The guides are cool and pretty helpful especially with language barrier. The guys and girls on the tour were all friendly and there to party, so we did. Thanks to this tour I can say that I took a bicycle home at 5 am through the Red Square, with sun rising over the Kremlin and having an insane conversation with two random Russians about music, politics and general buffoonery. I would say this tour is a must for any person that likes going out and experiencing a different way of partying.

I was in Moscow alone and had nothing to do on a Saturday night so a friend that I just met told me to meet up with her at this pub crawl. I've never been to a pub crawl before (I heard they were awesome) so I was up for it. Man, this pub crawl is FUN! After going to pub crawls in different countries after visiting Moscow, this one was the best, hands down. What really set it apart were the little fun challenges one can do to earn points and "win" the pub crawl. The prize was a free pub crawl the next weekend! But for me, the challenges made socializing inevitable. I ended up becoming really good friends with a group of girls that I still talk to, to this day. Going solo knowing practically no Russian wasn't a big deal at all. In fact, the tour guide even made it easier for me by telling people to meet me because I was a foreigner haha! I started the pub crawl talking to no one while quietly observing to dancing with everyone and having a good time! I'm going to state this again: Best pub crawl ever!

This pub crawl was definitely the funniest part of my trip in Moscow! The guides are super fun and enthusiastic and the crowd is a mix of foreigners are Russians. Even with the horrible weather we had in Moscow, it wasn't enough to stop these guys! Awesome experience! A must in Moscow nightlife!
