These Are The Biggest Tours Coming To Canada in 2024

Major artists are making their way to canada in 2024, including taylor swift, diljit dosanjh, olivia rodrigo and many more. we've rounded up some of the biggest ones..

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift

There are some big tours coming through Canada in 2024.

From new country festivals, to Punjabi superstars, to Billboard's Top Artist of 2023, there's no shortage of major shows coming to the country. Toronto's Rogers Centre and Vancouver's BC Place will host several stadium concerts this year, while festivals like Osheaga and Boots and Hearts are set to attract thousands of attendees outdoors. Toronto was recently named the most popular destination for world tours , and 2024 looks like it will live up to the reputation (even if Drake's tour with J. Cole is so far skipping his hometown).

Here are some of the biggest shows Canadians can look forward to this year:

Mitski at Massey Hall

Massey Hall was once a fitting venue for indie darling Mitski, but after a breakout 2023 amplified by the TikTok and Hot 100 success of "My Love Is Mine All Mine" this can now be considered a big underplay. Her three nights at the legendary Toronto concert hall are a big hot ticket in the city.

February 10-12 at Massey Hall in Toronto.

Noah Kahan: We'll All Be Here Forever World Tour

Noah Kahan's reinvention as a folk-rocker paid off in a big way in 2023, and now he's a major touring artist heading into the new year. Kahan broke through into the mainstream this year with his second record, Stick Season . Kahan has collaborated with a slew of top-tier artists, including Kacey Musgraves, Hozier and Post Malone. He's headlining Montreal's Osheaga with Green Day and SZA, which shows he's a top-tier artist in his own right, alongside his recent Grammy nod for Best New Artist. The Osheaga date comes after Kahan’s 2024 arena tour , which is not neglecting Canada. Unlike many big tours that stop in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver at most, this one also comes to Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, London, Ottawa and Quebec City.

March 26 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.

March 28 at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary.

March 29 at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

March 30 at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon.

April 2 at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg.

April 6, April 14 and April 16 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

April 7 at Budweiser Garden in London.

April 9 at Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa.

April 10 at Videotron Centre in Quebec City.

April 13 at Bell Centre in Montreal.

August 2 at Osheaga Festival in Montreal.

Diljit Dosanjh: Diluminati Tour

Last year, Punjabi music superstar Diljit Dosanjh became the first musician to play an entirely Punjabi set at Coachella, and this year he's making history in Canada: on April 27, 2024, at Vancouver's BC Place, Dosanjh will play the largest ever Punjabi music show outside of India. The stadium performance indicates the rising popularity of Punjabi music , particularly in Canada, where Dosanjh's latest album Ghost peaked at No. 5 on the Canadian Albums chart last year.

April 27 at BC Place in Vancouver.

Coast City Country First Edition

This spring, Live Nation Canada is bringing a brand new stadium festival to Vancouver, titled Coast City Country. Canadian rockers Nickelback will headline alongside country stars Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley. More than a music festival, Live Nation is hoping that Coast City Country will become a country takeover of Vancouver, with guests coming in from all over for the experience and wearing their cowboy hats around town all weekend. With Coast City, Live Nation is betting big on country music. The festival takes place at BC Place stadium on April 19 and 20.

April 19 and 20 at BC Place in Vancouver.

Gwen Stefani & Blake Shelton open Great Canadian Casino Resort

Toronto's splashy new casino will come with a 5,000 capacity theatre, and it's got a nice pair of opening night shows. TV cohosts/married couple Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton will open the new venue with concerts on consecutive nights. They're billed as separate shows, but there's plenty of duet possibility there. See if you can spot them at the tables in between.

May 3 for Gwen Stefani and May 4 for Blake Shelton at Great Canadian Casino Resort in Toronto

Tate McRae: Think Later Tour & Calgary Stampede

Canada's newest pop star Tate McRae, named a Billboard Canada Breakthrough Artist of 2023 , is taking her show on the road in 2024 for a global tour that will bring her from Ireland to Australia. The Think Later tour — named for her 2023 sophomore album — will stop in Toronto in July at the Budweiser Stage, and McRae will also head west that month to play the Cowboys Music Festival , which takes place during the Calgary Stampede. The show will be a Calgary homecoming for the L.A.-based artist — and after a whirlwind year including performances on Saturday Night Live and at the Billboard Music Awards, the singer could probably use some familiar sights.

July 5 at Cowboys Music Festival in Calgary.

The Rolling Stones: Hackney Diamonds Tour

With the release of their 24th album — and their first original album in nearly two decades — rock legends the Rolling Stones became the first act to have top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 in every decade since the '60s. Hackney Diamonds hit No. 3 on the albums chart and the Stones will be taking it out on a stadium tour this summer. The band have only announced 19 dates so far. Somewhat unusually, the only Canadian date is at Vancouver's BC Place. In the meantime, Hackney Diamonds is getting a deluxe version this month, which will include seven new live recordings — plenty to keep fans busy.

July 5 at BC Place in Vancouver .

Green Day: The Saviors Tour

Following up their fiery half-time performance at the Grey Cup last fall, the rock trio will be returning to Canada this summer for a performance at Toronto's Rogers Centre and as headliners at Montreal's Osheaga , Canada's largest music and arts festival. The band have a lot to celebrate on the Saviors Tour , from the release of their new album, The Saviors , to the 20th anniversary of their No. 1 album American Idiot , to the 30th anniversary of '90s classic Dookie . No word on whether the pyrotechnics will be out again for these gigs, but over thirty years on, the band certainly still knows how to put on a show.

August 1 at Rogers Centre in Toronto.

August 3 at Osheaga Festival in Montreal.

Blink-182: One More Time Tour

Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker put out their first release as a trio in over a decade last fall, following guitarist and vocalist DeLonge's departure from the group between 2015 and 2022. Their reunion record, One More Time , hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 , becoming their third album to do so, while singles "Edging" and "One More Time" topped the Rock & Alternative Airplay Chart . Fans are clearly happy that the iconic pop-punk group are playing together one more time — and Canadian fans will get the chance to see them live at the Rogers Centre this summer , with Pierce The Veil supporting on August 15.

August 15 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.

Taylor Swift: Eras Tour

Swifties were worried when Taylor Swift's initial Eras Tour dates didn't feature any Canadian stops, but the global popstar — and Billboard's Top Artist of 2023 — put their worries at ease with the announcement of 2024 shows in both Toronto and Vancouver, at the Rogers Centre and BC Place respectively. The behemoth Eras Tour features songs from each of Swift's studio albums and has already grossed over a billion dollars worldwide, without even taking into account the Eras Tour concert movie that hit theatres last fall. Canadian fans were dancing in the aisles at Eras Tour screenings in 2023, but in 2024 they'll get to sing along to the real deal.

November 14-16 and November 21-23 at Rogers Centre in Toronto.

December 6-8 at BC Place in Vancouver.

The following story updates Spotify's plans to increase prices in France after the government imposed a music streaming tax. The company has had similar discussions in Canada, where the CRTC could implement new financial regulations on streaming companies as part of the Online Streaming Act. While Spotify has not increased taxes in the country, the company did warn that prices could go up for Canadian consumers if they are faced with new costs.

“ If asked to make a burdensome contribution, irrespective of our existing investments, Spotify will need to make financial decisions to sustainably run our business,” said Olivia Regnier, Senior Director of Public Policy for Spotify, at a November hearing.

- Richard Trapunski, Billboard Canada

Spotify will pass-on the music streaming tax imposed by the French government by hiking its subscription prices in that market.

As previously reported , France’s National Assembly last December approved a so-called “CNM Tax” on streaming brands, the funds from which would finance the national public body, The Centre National de la Musique (CNM), which was created in 2020 and is already partly financed by the live music industry. The tax was predictably decried by the streaming services. For platforms that earn more than 20 million euros ($22 million) in annual turnover — including Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer — a new tax charge of 1.2% would be applied on all streaming revenue generated in France in addition to their existing tax duties. Social media platforms including Facebook and TikTok, which license and feature music, would also be subject to the taxes.

Spotify, the global market leader, said it couldn’t absorb the Macron government’s new costs and would offset them one way or another. After announcing back in December that the streaming giant would pull its financial support to a number of local music festivals, Spotify today (March 7) confirms a price increase for its premium packages – applied only to subscribers in France. Reps from Spotify claim the tax doesn’t add up. This new fee “will generate approximately 15 million euros, when the CNM’s administrative budget (office fees, personnel, capital expenditure, media monitoring or professional training etc.) sits at 20.2 million euros,” reads an open statement issued today.

“Our concern is that possibly less than half of its overall 146.9 million euros budget will find its way toward effectively aiding music.” Spotify, the message continues, “has proudly championed French artists for the past 15 years; we certainly didn’t wait for the CNM to be created in 2020 to help artists find success in France, and outside of France; to help promote French repertoire and grow the royalty pool for French rights holders. Spotify’s payments have totaled close to 225 million euros in 2022 alone (or about 1/4th of all the French recorded music industry revenues for that year). That is up more than 200% percent since 2017.” The price increase isn’t laid out , though Spotify promises to update its French subscribers over the coming weeks with full details.

“To put it bluntly, all French users will see their subscription plan fee go up,” the message confirms. “French users will now pay the highest subscriptions across the European Union.”

Read Spotify’s open-letter below.

Spotify Premium subscribers in France will soon experience a price increase due to additional costs on music streaming services imposed by the government, as part of the “CNM Tax.” While we worked very hard to encourage the government to avoid adding this tax, unfortunately they decided to move forward.

Perhaps you’ve never heard of the CNM – it’s a public body that commissions studies on the French music industry, and provides financial aid to record labels and the live industry. At the end of 2023, as part of its 2024 budget, the French government decided that digital music streaming services will now have to pay a new tax in order to finance it. Our worry, on top of what would be equivalent to a double payment on our part, has been that this tax will not go directly to artists, nor will it have a tangible output visible to fans; instead, it will simply come at the expense of listeners, and create an additional middleman – the CNM. In fact, this tax will generate approximately 15 million euros, when the CNM’s administrative budget (office fees, personnel, capital expenditure, media monitoring or professional training etc.) sits at 20.2 million euros. Our concern is that possibly less than half of its overall 146.9 million euros budget will find its way toward effectively aiding music.

Spotify has proudly championed French artists for the past 15 years; we certainly didn’t wait for the CNM to be created in 2020 to help artists find success in France, and outside of France; to help promote French repertoire and grow the royalty pool for French rights holders. Spotify’s payments have totaled close to 225 million euros in 2022 alone (or about 1/4th of all the French recorded music industry revenues for that year). That is up more than 200% percent since 2017.

Yet, with the creation of this new tax, Spotify would be required to give approximately two-thirds of every euro it generates to music to rights holders and the French government. Of course, this is a massive amount and does not allow for a sustainable business. As we have long said, we simply can’t absorb any additional taxes. Even after making the difficult decision to reduce our artist marketing budget and support of French music festivals – which is an essential vehicle for Spotify to continue to drive hundreds of millions of euros to the music industry – it still continues to impede our ability to operate in France. Accordingly, over the coming weeks and months, we’ll need to make changes to our price plan in France.

To put it bluntly, all French users will see their subscription plan fee go up. French users will now pay the highest subscriptions across the European Union.

Spotify is increasing prices in France in order to offset these new costs. We’ll come back to our French subscribers over the coming weeks with the full details on the upcoming price increase.

summer co-headlining tour

Forty years after they sang together on record on “The Only Flame in Town,” Daryl Hall and Elvis Costello will tour together as co-headliners this summer, hitting the road in June and July for a 22-city outing.

The Live Nation-promoted tour begins June 2 in Troutdale, Oregon and wraps up July 25 in Vienna, Virginia.

General tickets go on sale March 15 at 10 a.m. local time. Artist presales will begin this coming Monday, also at 10 local time.

Key stops along the way include four shows in the Southern California area: Santa Barbara June 14, San Diego June 16, Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre on June 18 and Rancho Mirage on June 21.

Hall had done a series of recent tours with Todd Rundgren as the featured opening act. If those shows are any indication, it seems possible Hall and Costello may join their voices at some point during the night, as the Hall/Rundgren tours featured the two artists together for part of the show.

Costello will be accompanied on all the dates by his backing band of the last two decades, the Imposters, which has a prominently billed Charlie Sexton as what is looking to be a semi-permanent sit-in second guitarist. Costello most recently toured as a headliner with Nick Lowe as his opening act.

“It’s fantastic to be able to rekindle a musical relationship,” Hall said in a statement. In his, Costello said, “We are looking forward to kicking off the show in style in the certainty that Daryl will deliver a slam-bang finish.”

Toronto’s Thriving Live Music & Concert Scene

No matter what style of music gets you moving, you won’t have trouble finding a crowd of similar devotees. .

If live music is your jam, you’ll love the scene in Toronto, rocking out to the hottest local and international acts in Toronto.

Indie up-and-comers

A mainstay of the hip Queen West neighbourhood since before it was hip,  The Cameron House   plays host to a variety of local indie acts. Blue Rodeo, Holly Cole, Ron Sexsmith and The Barenaked Ladies have all performed on The Cameron’s stage, in addition to countless smaller bands. Come any night of the week to catch your favourite local band or discover a new one. (Bonus: there’s no cover). 408 Queen St. W.

Just down the street, the legendary  Horseshoe Tavern  is one of Toronto’s most celebrated performance venues. More than 65 years of operation have seen a lot of famous faces pass through The Horseshoe, including Willie Nelson, The Rolling Stones, The Police and The Ramones. Depending on the night, you can catch anything from indie to country to alt-rock at The Horseshoe. Keep an eye on any acts you see here because they may just become the next big thing. 370 Queen St. W.

With 18,000 sq ft of space spread over two floors,  The Phoenix Concert Theatre  is one of the city’s largest concert clubs. Death Cab for Cutie, Two Door Cinema Club and Green Day have all entertained enthusiastic crowds here (not to mention legends like Bob Dylan and The Tragically Hip). The Phoenix is one of the key venues during annual music events like  Canadian Music Week  and  NXNE: North By Northeast Festival , which supports independent artists of all stripes. 410 Sherbourne St.

Located right on the Danforth,  The Danforth Music Hall  is one of the most popular live music venues in the city. This former movie theatre has an inclined floor allowing for great viewing of your favourite band no matter where you stand. Some renowned artists that have graced the stage at Danforth Music Hall are Rihanna, James Brown, The Clash, Alvvays, Hanson, Joel Plaskett and much more! 147 Danforth Ave.

Sultry latin músicos

¿Te gusta bailar salsa? If the answer is “sí!” , head to  Lula Lounge  where the live salsa bands are  muy caliente . Every Friday and Saturday enjoy salsa dancing to live Latin music while munching on savoury Spanish and South American delicacies. Don’t worry if you’re not a seasoned salsa dancing pro; the city’s top instructors offer lessons on Friday and Saturday nights. 1585 Dundas St. W.

For another fun and lively spot in the west end, try  Yauca’s Lounge  where authentic Brazilian music is served up in a relaxed atmosphere. 1355 St. Clair Ave. W.

Dinner and dancing are also on the menu at  CopcaCabana Brazilian Steakhouse . Here, you can indulge in delectable rodízio-style cuts of meat brought right to your table while taking in the sounds of samba and an aerial performer on Friday and Saturday nights.  230 Adelaide St. W.

Soulful jazz

Summer may be the high season for jazz in Toronto with the star-studded  TD Toronto Jazz Festival ,  Beaches International Jazz Festival  and the newcomer  Kensington Market Jazz Festival going on, but you can catch all types of jazz bands at The Rex every night of the week. Part jazz club, part restaurant and part hotel, The Rex is a must-stop spot for any fan. 194 Queen Street West.

A visit to the suave  Jazz Bistro  with its Instagrammable shiny red Steinway grand piano, should be on any aficionado’s list, too.  251 Victoria Street.

Right in the heart of downtown Toronto,  The Reservoir Lounge , is one of Toronto’s most swinging nightspots. The lounge décor and brick-walled interior complement the jumpin’ rhythms from local jazz, blues and R&B musicians. It was at The Reservoir Lounge that a young unknown named Michael Bublé first made a name for himself. 52 Wellington Street East.

There’s no Toronto concert venue more legendary than  Massey Hall . This acoustically-rich performance arts theatre is a National Historic Site of Canada that still hosts some of the biggest names in music (jazz, rock, contemporary and beyond). This was the site of the famous one-night-only gig in 1953 that brought Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, Charles Mingus and Max Roach together on one stage. 178 Victoria Street.

Hard rockers

Head-bangers, punk rockers and metal-heads can often be found at  The Opera House  , depending on the night. This midsize concert hall in Riverside offers a unique experience combining state-of-the-art lighting and sound equipment with the charm of its original 1900s vaudeville theatre architecture. 735 Queen St. E.

Lee’s Palace  is immediately recognizable from its iconic graffiti mural front. This 100-year-old building is chock-full of gritty charm and hosts live music nearly every night of the week. Canadian rock groups like Moist, Sloan and Our Lady Peace all played Lee’s Palace early in their careers, joining the ranks of international stars like Nirvana, Oasis and Red Hot Chili Peppers. 529 Bloor St. W.

Authentically Toronto, the  Dakota Tavern   was nominated for Best Bar and Best Blues Bar by  Now Magazine . This saloon-style bar is a throwback to the foot-stomping, whiskey-guzzling days of the Wild West. The music acts vary night by night, but rock, alt-country and bluegrass are its mainstays. 249 Ossington Ave.

Beat-dropping DJs

Grab a drink and a glowstick and get lost in the techno beats at  CODA , where EDM lovers assemble for jaw-dropping dance parties featuring DJs from around the globe. This versatile second-story nightclub is renowned for its fun-fueled all-night parties. Shows tend to sell out quickly so it’s always a good idea to buy tickets in advance. 794 Bathurst St.

No discussion about Toronto’s electronic music scene would be complete without mentioning The Axis Club (formerly The Mod Club). Touring DJs and electronic artists regularly stop in at The Axis Club, where the stage is outfitted for psychedelic light shows, and the dance floor is always happening. 722 College St.

New look, new vibe! With the reopening in 2016,  The Velvet Underground  has branched out from rock and metal and embraced all kinds of music genres, including EDM DJs. The bigger dance floor provides more room for dancing the night away. 508 Queen St. W.
