What Happened to Road Trip Radio on Sirius XM?
By Robert Palmer
If you’re a Sirius XM subscriber and a fan of Road Trip Radio, you may have noticed that the channel has disappeared from your radio dial. Road Trip Radio was a popular station that played classic rock and other driving-themed tunes. So what happened to it?
The Short Answer
Road Trip Radio was removed from the Sirius XM lineup in early 2020. The station’s programming was merged with another channel, Classic Vinyl.
The Long Answer
In January 2020, Sirius XM made some changes to its lineup of channels. As part of these changes, several channels were discontinued or merged with other channels.
One of the casualties of these changes was Road Trip Radio. The channel’s programming – which focused on classic rock and other music suitable for road trips – was combined with Classic Vinyl, another channel that played classic rock.
The result is a new channel called Classic Rewind, which combines the playlists of both Road Trip Radio and Classic Vinyl. According to Sirius XM, Classic Rewind “features ’70s and ’80s Classic Rock hits along with everything from Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin to Aerosmith and Van Halen.”
If you’re a fan of Road Trip Radio, you might be disappointed by this change. But there are still plenty of options for listening to classic rock on Sirius XM.
- Classic Rewind: As mentioned above, this channel now features the programming that used to be on Road Trip Radio.
- Classic Vinyl: This channel is still available and plays classic rock from the ’60s and ’70s.
- The Beatles Channel: If you’re a fan of the Fab Four, this channel plays all Beatles music all the time.
Why Did This Happen?
Sirius XM hasn’t given a specific reason for discontinuing Road Trip Radio. It’s possible that the channel simply wasn’t getting enough listeners to justify keeping it on the air.
It’s also worth noting that Sirius XM has been making changes to its lineup of channels for several years now. In some cases, channels are discontinued or merged with other channels to make room for new programming.
What Can You Do?
If you’re a Sirius XM subscriber and you’re unhappy about the loss of Road Trip Radio, there are a few things you can do.
- Contact Sirius XM: If you want to let Sirius XM know how you feel about the change, you can contact their customer service department. You can reach them by phone, email, or through their website.
- Consider Other Options: If you’re not satisfied with Sirius XM’s lineup of channels, there are plenty of other options for streaming music. Services like Spotify, Apple Music, and Pandora offer a wide variety of music options.

SiriusXM’s Taylor Swift channel is free if your car has satellite radio
It’s Taylor Swift’s world — we’re just living in it. That was true before today, which saw the release of The Tortured Poets Department . But it’s especially true given that you’ll now be able to listen to all the Taylor Swift you want, for free, for the next few weeks.
Sirius XM earlier announced that the previously open Channel 13 has been transformed to Channel 13 (Taylor’s Version). That is, all Taylor Swift, all the time. All you needed was a SiriusXM account. But even that minor bit of gatekeeping has been lifted a good bit. If you have a car that has the hardware for SiriusXM — and SXM believes that 50% of all cars on the road are so equipped — Channel 13 (Taylor’s Version) will be available for free, through May 6.
And, yes, you can listen to The Tortured Poets Department in its entirety all weekend. Continuously. Nonstop. Back-to-back. (Seriously, though, be sure to come up for air at some point.)
- SiriusXM plans, pricing, and features for the satellite (and internet) service
- SiriusXM reboots satellite radio with new app, features — and price
Once May 7 arrives and Channel 13 (Taylor’s Version) morphs into something else or fades back into oblivion, SiriusXM of course hopes that you’ll fire up a full subscription. On that front, service starts at $10 a month for the app-only plan, which gets you 425 total channels and ad-free music, plus Howard Stern, live sports, and podcasts. Plans for the car (and app) start at $14 a month for 100-plus channels and range up to $24 a month. And, as always, there are initial promos when you first sign up.
And after all that’s over? Perhaps you’ll join our call to make Rock Band: Tay Tay a reality . It could happen. It should happen. Let’s make it happen.

Walmart continues its reign of great TV deals with the option to buy an Onn. 75-inch Frameless 4K TV for just $448. A 75-inch TV for under $500 is pretty impressive and this TV usually costs $498 so you’re saving even more than usual. If you want a great new TV to add to your home for less, this is the perfect opportunity to do so while saving plenty of cash. Let’s take a look at what it has to offer.
Why you should buy the Onn. 75-inch Frameless 4K TV Onn. is nowhere to be seen in our look at the best TV brands but it’s still pretty respectable for anyone seeking a budget-priced TV. The most obvious benefit here is the hefty 75-inch 4K screen with 2160p resolution. It looks great with a crystal clear picture which is an excellent upgrade compared to an HD screen. The Onn. 75-inch Frameless 4K TV might lack the finer features of the best TVs but it has the essentials arranged well.
Not that Tubi was exactly lacking for anything to watch, but the free (as in ad-supported) streaming service just added a couple more reasons to keep you glued to your couch. The Fox-owned FAST service (that's short for free ad-supported television) today announced a partnership with DAZN that brings a bevy of sports to platform.
The tentpole addition is DAZN Women's Football. It'll be available 24 hours a day, with "a compelling mix of live and classic soccer matches from prestigious tournaments." Those will include the UEFA Women's Champions League, Liga F, and the Saudi Women's Premier League, among others. It'll be available in the U.S. and Canada.
Hisense's PX2-Pro Laser Cinema ultra short throw projector made all kinds of best projector lists for its excellent picture, big brightness, and accurate color. Today, the Chinese electronics maker announced the popular projector's latest model, the PX3-Pro, a $3,500, premium triple-laser projector that improves on its predecessors with better sound, a brighter light source, and AI smarts to further enhance its image.
The PX3-Pro sees some improvements over the PX2. For one, it's brighter than the PX2's 2,400 ANSI lumens at 3,000 ANSI lumens, which should mean a significant boost, especially in brighter rooms. But one key improvement with the PX3 that Hisense is certainly hoping will make an impact is its integration of "real-time Pro AI Algorithms" that Hisense says will "enhance brightness, fine-tune contrast, and eliminate noise." Using AI to enhance picture quality, color, and more, has been showing up in all the best TVs over the last year or so, so it's no surprise to see it start making its way into the best projectors now, too.

Russia's Nuclear Deterrent Command Center Imperiled by Winter Freeze—Report
A Russian nuclear deterrent command center in Moscow has been imperiled by power outages that have impacted more than one-quarter of the region's cities amid freezing temperatures, a Russian Telegram channel has reported.
The VChK-OGPU outlet, which purports to have inside information from Russian security forces, reported that the 820th Main Center for Missile Attack Warnings—part of the Russian Space Forces, a branch of the country's Aerospace Forces—near Solnechnogorsk in Moscow is without power.
It serves as the space forces early warning network against potential ballistic missile attacks.
The development comes as Russians are reported to be suffering from power outages in their homes in the Moscow region caused by technical issues at plants amid subzero temperatures.
On January 4, a heating main burst at the Klimovsk Specialized Ammunition Plant in the town of Podolsk, which is about 30 miles south of central Moscow. Since then, tens of thousands of Russians are reported to have no heating in their homes.
Affected areas include the cities of Khimki, Balashikha, Lobnya, Lyubertsy, Podolsk, Chekhov and Naro-Fominsk, a map published by a Russian Telegram channel and shared on other social media sites shows.
Other Russian media outlets reported that in Moscow, residents of Balashikha, Elektrostal, Solnechnogorsk, Dmitrov, Domodedovo, Troitsk, Taldom, Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Krasnogorsk, Pushkino, Ramenskoye, Voskresensk, Losino-Petrovsky and Selyatino are also without power.
The Telegram channel said that at the 820th Main Center for Missile Attack Warnings, "the crew...is on duty around the clock."
"It is here that the decision on a retaliatory nuclear strike is executed," the channel said.
Newsweek could not independently verify the report and has reached out to the Russian Defense Ministry by email for comment.
Power outages have also been reported in Russia's second-largest city, St. Petersburg, in the country's western Voronezh region, in the southwest city of Volgograd, and in Rostov, which borders Ukraine, a country that Russia has been at war with since February 24, 2022.
On Sunday, two shopping malls in St. Petersburg were forced to close because of problems with light and heating, reported local news outlet 78.ru. Hundreds of other homes in the city have had no electricity, water or heating for days amid temperatures of -25 C (-13 F).
Russian authorities have also been forced to compensate passengers of a train that ran from Samara to St. Petersburg (a 20-hour journey) without heating during -30 C (-22 F) temperatures. Videos circulating on social media showed carriage windows frozen over. A passenger also said the toilet didn't work during the trip because of frozen pipes.
