Journey Announces 2024 Tour Dates With Toto

Journey has announced dates for their 50th Anniversary Freedom Tour 2024 featuring special guest  Toto .

The trek will make its way through 30 North American cities, beginning Feb. 9 in Biloxi, Missouri, and ending April 29 in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

"We are looking forward to hitting the road again with our very good friends Toto," Journey guitarist Neal Schon said in a press release. "Come join us for a special evening full of fun and rockin' good memories. See you soon, friends."

You can see a complete list of dates below. Tickets for all shows will be available starting Sept. 29, except Sioux City, which begins Oct. 5.

50 years in, the Journey journey is far from over.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group just announced their 50th anniversary ‘Freedom Tour’ with special guest Toto that will send them to arenas all over North America from February through April 2024.

That includes a stop at Rochester, NY’s Blue Cross Arena on Thursday, Feb. 22.

“We are looking forward to hitting the road again with our very good friends Toto,” Journey guitarist and co-founder Neal Schon said in a press release. “Come join us for a special evening full of fun and rockin’ good memories.”

Journey new music

In 2022, Journey dropped their 16th studio album “Freedom.”

The 73-minute record is comprised of 15 songs that all harken back to the band’s glory years.

Anthemic choruses, soaring guitar solos and heartfelt ballads litter the record.

For our money, the hard rockin’ “You Got The Best Of Me” is the highlight of “Freedom” although the catchy “All Day And All Night” comes in a close second.

Steve Lukather’s long-running rock group are headliners in their own right.

Journey to celebrate 50th anniversary with 30 shows in 2024: See where they're headed

Journey is continuing the celebration of its five-decade career with a run of 2024 shows.

The 50 th Anniversary Freedom Tour kicks off Feb. 9 in Biloxi, Mississippi and will play 30 dates in North America through April 29 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. local time on Sept. 29 via ticketmaster.com.

Toto, which supported Journey on their tour earlier this year to celebrate their "Freedom" album, will again join Journey founder, guitarist Neal Scho n, keyboardist Jonathan Cain, lead singer Arnel Pineda, keyboardist Jason Derlatka, drummer Deen Castronovo and bassist Todd Jensen as show openers.

Journey's tour finds the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers tearing through a set list of anthems including "Any Way You Want It," "Faithfully," "Be Good to Yourself" and, of course, "Don't Stop Believin'."

When "Freedom" arrived in July 2022, Schon told USA Today that the album title was originally tapped for the band's 1986 release, "Raised on Radio," but then-singer Steve Perry didn't like it, "so we sat on it for many years … when we were tossing around album titles said, why not just call the whole thing 'Freedom?' It's for the times right now."

Schon was also sanguine when reflecting on the band’s legacy.

"It’s quite an accomplishment and I’m very proud of what we’ve done and how we’ve gotten through emotional and personnel changes and survived," he said. "It’s pretty mind-boggling but also a lot of hard work."

JOURNEY Announces 'Freedom Tour 2023' With Very Special Guest TOTO

One of the most legendary rock bands of all time, JOURNEY has announced the continuation of their highly successful tour with the 50th-anniversary celebration "Freedom Tour 2023" featuring very special guest TOTO . JOURNEY , diamond-selling Rock And Roll Hall Of Famers, will take the stage in 38 cities across North America with their catalog of global chart-topping hits, including "Don't Stop Believin'" , "Any Way You Want It" , "Faithfully" and "Lights" .

Presented by AEG Presents , JOURNEY "Freedom Tour 2023" begins February 4 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, making stops in Austin, Montreal, Memphis and more before wrapping April 25 at the brand new Acrisure Arena in Palm Springs, California. The 2023 run includes rescheduled dates in Washington D.C., Hartford, Toronto and Quebec that were postponed earlier this year due to COVID-19.

JOURNEY features founder Neal Schon (lead guitarist), Jonathan Cain (keyboards, backing vocals), Arnel Pineda (lead vocals), Jason Derlatka (keyboards, vocals), Deen Castronovo (drums, vocals) and Todd Jensen (bass).

Says Schon : "We are all thankful and overwhelmed by the success of our JOURNEY 'Freedom Tour 2022' this year and have added a new run of dates for 2023. We are looking forward to hitting the road again with our very good friends TOTO ! Come join us for a special evening full of fun and rockin' good memories. See you soon, friends."

The combined hits of both bands represent a couple of decades of excellence that have become a soundtrack for people's lives. Very special guest TOTO , who have collectively streamed more than 3.3 billion plays on Spotify alone based on hits including "Rosanna" , "Africa" and "Hold The Line" , will join JOURNEY on all dates.

JOURNEY and TOTO previously joined forces for an early 2022 U.S. arena tour.

JOURNEY is continuing to promote its latest album, "Freedom" , which was released in July via BMG . The LP debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Current Rock chart.

The members of JOURNEY celebrated the album's release by kicking off a residency featuring special symphony orchestra performances at the new, state-of-the-art Resorts World Casino in Las Vegas.

As JOURNEY 's legend continues to grow larger and their touring gets bigger, "Freedom" is the band’s first album of new material to be released in eleven years, since 2011's "Eclipse" , and in addition to Schon , along with longtime keyboard player and primary lyricist Cain and Pineda , one more member was recruited for the LP — bassist extraordinaire Randy Jackson , who had played on JOURNEY 's 1986 album "Raised On Radio" .

Inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2017, JOURNEY has 25 gold and platinum albums, with total sales adding up to over 100 million albums worldwide, earning the band two Diamond Awards with a third on the way for the "Frontiers" album. JOURNEY has also surpassed one billion streams on Spotify .

Following the success of the 2023 Freedom Tour, legendary rock band JOURNEY has announced a new round of shows for their 50 th Anniversary Freedom Tour 2024 featuring very special guest TOTO . JOURNEY – Diamond-selling Rock & Roll Hall of Famers – will take the stage in 30 cities across North America with their catalog of global chart-topping hits, including "Don't Stop Believin”, "Any Way You Want It", "Faithfully", "Lights" and more.

Presented by AEG Presents, JOURNEY Freedom Tour 2024 begins Friday, February 9 in Biloxi, MS – making stops Louisville, Omaha, Las Vegas and more. The band will play PNC Arena in Raleigh, NC on Saturday, Feb. 17

JOURNEY features founder Neal Schon (lead guitarist), J onathan Cain (keyboards, backing vocals), Arnel Pineda (lead vocals) Jason Derlatka (keyboards, vocals), and Deen Castronovo (drums, vocals) and Todd Jensen (bass). Neal Schon is a 3x Hall of Fame inductee, having been inducted to the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Grammy Hall of Fame.  Jon Cain is a recipient of two BMI songwriter awards and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Journey.

Our Lenten Journey, March 16: St. Therese of Lisieux

She spent most of her life in an area of France less than 50 miles big. She lived in cloister, devoting her time to simple service and prayer. She died when she was only 24. Yet Therese of Lisieux and her “Little Way” have served as an inspiration to countless numbers of people since her death.

Born as Marie Françoise-Thérèse Martin on Jan. 2, 1873 in Alençon, Normandy, France, she was the youngest of nine children. Only five of them survived to adulthood, all girls. Her father, Louis Martin was a jeweler and watchmaker; her mother, Marie Zelie, was a lacemaker. The Martins were devout Catholics, and raised their daughters with strong faith, including daily Mass and works of charity. They would later be named saints just like their daughter, the first married couple canonized together by Pope Francis in 2015.

When Therese was 4 years old, her 45-year old mother died of breast cancer. Her father later moved the family to Lisieux. Therese was a bright but sensitive child and took her mother’s death to heart. She was taught by the Benedictine nuns of the Abbey of Notre Dame du Pre and reportedly she hated school because she was bullied. At age nine, she developed nervous tremors. Therese said that she had a vision of the Virgin Mary at that age and it healed her: “Our Blessed Lady has come to me, she has smiled upon me. How happy I am.” At the time, no one believed the child. Even at that age, Therese felt the call to religious life and begged to join the Carmelites, but was refused because she was so young. Her older sisters Marie and Pauline had joined the Carmelites at Lisieux and she always longed to join them.

On Christmas Eve, 1886, after she attended Midnight Mass, she had a revelation; she felt a ‘complete conversion’ moment and felt she had recovered from the grief she had been feeling for years over the death of her mother. As she grew older, she began reading works such as “Imitation of Christ” and the writings of St. John of the Cross.

When she was 15, her father took Therese and Celine on a pilgrimage to Rome. They had an audience with Pope Leo XIII, and Therese reportedly threw herself at the Pope’s feet, begging to be allowed to enter Carmel. The Pope said: “Well, my child, do what the superiors decide…. You will enter if it is God’s Will.” Therese refused to leave after that, and had to be carried out of the chamber by guards. She and her sister continued the trip with their father through Europe, visiting Naples, Assisi and other sites. It was the only time in her life she was ever away from Normandy.

Therese was finally accepted into the Carmelites at age 15, where she joined her older sisters; sister Celine joined them later, which meant 4 out of 5 of the Martin girls were called to religious life.

She followed the austere rules of cloistered life such as limited meals, hard work, silence and solitude, very seriously. Therese struggled with scrupulosity, a form of OCD that involves having guilt over religious or moral issues. Her spiritual director was Jesuit Father Pichon, who himself struggled with the disorder, and he was able to guide Therese and convince her she was leading a holy life.

During her novitiate, Therese began practicing devotion to the Holy Face, a contemplation of an image of Jesus face during the Passion. She was given the name “Therese of the Child Jesus” when she first entered the convent. When she took her religious name, she asked that “of the Holy Face” be added to her name.

When she was 17 and professing her vows as a novice, Therese wrote: “May creatures be nothing for me, and may I be nothing for them, but may You, Jesus, be everything! Let nobody be occupied with me, let me be looked upon as one to be trampled underfoot. May Your will be done in me perfectly. Jesus, allow me to save very many souls; let no soul be lost today; let all the souls in purgatory be saved.”

Therese led a life of deep prayer, and occasionally struggled with the mundane aspects of cloistered life, Realizing that life in cloister would mean that she would never do great things, she focused on the small things, theorizing that no act was too small if it was carried out with great love.

Much of her prayer time was spent praying for priests. She was asked to give spiritual support to two mission priests in formation, never meeting them but corresponding with them. Today, seminarians have great devotion to Therese and she is also considered a patron of the missions because of her support of the young priests.

On Good Friday, 1896, Therese woke up coughing up blood. She had developed tuberculosis, but instead of complaining, viewed it as part of her spiritual journey. Among her last words, she said “I have reached the point of not being able to suffer any more, because all suffering is sweet to me.” She died on Sept. 30, 1897. She was only 24 years of age.

Her “Story of a Soul” was compiled by her sister, Pauline, after her death, and includes her thoughts on her “Little Way” of serving God.

Her relics have been on tour around the world since 1994.

St. Therese’ feast day is October 1.

She is the patron saint of aviators, florists and the missions.

St. Therese was declared a Doctor of the Church by Pope John Paul II on Oct. 19, 1997. She is one of only four women to hold this title.
