How to fast travel and how to unlock fast travel locations in Cyberpunk 2077

How to get around Night City quickly with fast travel.

Cyberpunk 2077 fast travel allows you to get around the map much faster and easier than going by foot or using a vehicle.

Night City, as you'll soon discover, is vast - and though it offers some stunning vistas when you travel by freeway, sometimes you want to get to a particular district as soon as possible.

The ability to fast travel is unlocked as soon as you are able to explore Night City in Act 1 of Cyberpunk 2077 - albeit in a lockdown state - though using the system isn't as easy as selecting a point to go to from the map screen.

How to use fast travel in Cyberpunk 2077

Fast travel - and the ability to explore Night City freely - isn't available until you have completed the life path -specific prologue and begin Act 1.

From here, go to one of the main fast travel terminals in the city. These are indicated by the blue pin on the map screen, and in-game, by a console with a projection of a map above it.

Travel there, and interact with it. Now select one of the fast travel points you have unlocked, and within a few seconds, you'll jump to that location.

The important thing to note with the fast travel system is you cannot fast travel from anywhere in the city by browsing the map screen alone. Though it shows fast travel points, the ability to fast travel requires you to physically make your way to one of those dataterms first.

Then, from there, you can fast travel.

How to unlock fast travel points in Cyberpunk 2077

To unlock additional fast travel points is simple - you have to have reached the node you wish to travel to first. You don't have to physically use it first - provided you are within proximity (at a mid-distance which is fairly generous) it will then be added to your map.

This means the more you explore, the more you're able to return to using fast travel. Playing main story missions is perhaps the best way to do this, gently introducing you to more areas of Night City, so you understand the layout more naturally.

However, if you want to, you can simply start exploring freely and unlock nodes as you come into them - whatever works for you.

Either way, note that the starting area of Watson is in lockdown during Act 1 - so however you decide to play, you can only explore so far to begin with.

Fast travel guide - how to use and unlock all points.

If you're looking for how to unlock Fast Travel in Cyberpunk 2077, it may not be available to you yet. Fast Travel access is locked until you complete the The Ride . After that, you'll unlock a handful of fast travel points in Watson . These are all spots you've driven or walked past previously. You don't even need to interact with them. So long as you pass the point, you'll unlock it.

In Act One, consider throwing on the radio, grabbing a nice drink or snack, and driving around Watson to log the Fast Travel points.

How to Use Fast Travel

In order to actually Fast Travel, you need to access one of the tourist information center kiosks or station gates to enter the Fast Travel menu. It's not something you can use from your main map menu. There are lots of Fast Travel points, though, so it shouldn't take you too long to get to them.

Find Fast Travel Dataterms

Cyberpunk 2077 - Fast Travel Closeup

Fast travelling in Cyberpunk 2077 is quite different from most open-world games. You need to find a fast travel dataterm in order to Fast Travel around Night City.

These dataterms are scattered across the city. You can easily find one by looking for a blue pin on the map. Interact with the nearest dataterm you see to view a map with all currently unlocked locations. Then, select one to travel to that point.

Fast Travel with Metro System

Use metro train stations to travel.

Cyberpunk 2077 - Fast Travel with Metro

As of Update 2.1 , a metro system was introduced, allowing you to choose between using the train stations as fast travel points or to ride the metro for some sightseeing. When choosing to fast travel, they'll act like dataterms , allowing you to teleport to dataterms and stations you've already visited.

Cyberpunk 2077: All Fast Travel Locations

There are dozens of dataterms to find in Cyberpunk 2077, and here is a list of all of them.

Quick Links

How to unlock fast travel dataterms, all fast travel dataterm locations.

Cyberpunk 2077 gives its players an extensive open world to explore as they navigate through the game. It's not hard to get lost in the vastness of Night City, but that isn't a bad thing at all. When first opening up the map, players may feel overwhelmed with its dimensions; in total, Night City, has six main districts, all of which have subdistricts, and there is also an outer area that surrounds the city.

RELATED: Cyberpunk 2077: How To Complete V's Stash Wall

As the player proceeds through the campaign of Cyberpunk 2077 and completes side missions, they will start unlocking fast travel dataterms that will give them instant travel access to locations all over the map. This guide will list all available dataterms on the Cybperpunk 2077 map to help players find any that they might've missed.

Updated on October 17, 2023, by Anastasia Maillot: Cyberpunk 2077 has gone through yet another major change. In anticipation of the Phantom Liberty DLC, CDPR released the 2.0 update, which overhauled various in-game features from how police and vehicle combat works to even completely changing the perk tree. Now, with Phantom Liberty out of the gates as well and a new location called Dogtown open for visitors in the heart of Pacifica, players have more reason than ever before to explore everything Night City has to give. The new dataterms available in Dogtown have been added in for those looking to unlock them all.

Once the player has finished The Ride main mission, they will gain access to the fast stations known as dataterms. These terminals are scattered all over the map, and, given the size of Night City, gamers should attempt unlocking them as soon as possible to facilitate moving long distances in the future.

There is no real indicator of where a dataterm might be before it's unlocked - it's up to the player to find them as they explore Night City. However, there are certain locations where it's likely for dataterms to be. Places where main missions occur, as well as other side missions that'll have V completing NCPD Scanner Hustles or hunting down Cyberpsychos all, tend to have a fast travel spot nearby . This might be so that it's easier to return to the location if there's any issue and V has died or fled from the scene.

Using the filters on the map is a great way to find missing dataterms as well. These filters allow the player to hide many markers that they don't need, and they can opt to only show fast travel locations and other useful options such as Cyberpsycho Sightings and NCPD scans.

In order to unlock a dataterm and add it to the map, the player doesn't actually have to interact with it; they only have to be within a certain perimeter, and it'll automatically become available as a fast travel location in the future . The player might just accidentally unlock a couple of dataterms by taking a ride along the many streets of Night City.

To fast travel somewhere else, the player must approach the nearest terminal and interact with it by pressing Select Destination. Then, the world map will open up and they must pick one of the other available fast travel locations.

After the game's release, it received many patches and updates which gradually increased the number of dataterms available. At the moment, there are 166 fast travel dataterms placed all over Night City, including the ones from Phantom Liberty, and players have to find them all if they'd like to unlock the Frequent Flyer achievement .

This interactive Night City map is a great way to see which dataterms the player might be missing. Unfortunately, it doesn't feature the ones added with patch 2.0, but still, it helps exclude the majority of the dataterms already unlocked.

The tables below list all the dataterm locations in Cyberpunk 2077 from the northern areas to the southern areas. The 1.5 free Cyberpunk 2077 update back in 2022 to honor Edgerunners added various apartments that V would be able to purchase as well as handy metro and street locations. Fortunately, the apartments don't have to be purchased in order for these areas to have fast travel enabled . As far as it is known right now, Update 2.0 did not add any new dataterms, but the DLC does.

Watson is the district where the player will be able to find many of the bars that they'll have to visit during the main storyline, including the notorious Cyberpunk 2077 Afterlife club .

Westbrook is known as the rich district of Night City, and where the Tyger Claws usually hang out.

City Center

The City Center district is filled with corpos as it's the place where most corporations' headquarters are. It may be hard for V to feel like they fit in here unless they've chosen the Corpo life path at the start of the game .

Cyberpunk 2077: 8 Most Intelligent Characters, Ranked

Heywood has borders with the City Center district and Westbrook, which are some of the richest areas on the map; on the hand, it also shares a border with Santo Domingo, an industrial nightmare.

Pacifica has received a huge sub-location in the form of Dogtown as of Phantom Liberty's release . On top of the Voodoo Boys' and Animals' turf, players can now wander into Kurt Hansen's pocket of authority if they have the expansion installed.

Santo Domingo

This district is a very industrial area on the map and one of the oldest districts of Night City.

The Badlands have been exploited as much as possible and consequently turned into a terrifyingly silent wasteland. This is where V will come face-to-face with the Nomads. The Aldecaldo Camp will first be available as the Mobile Camp dataterm, on the eastern side of the map, but once the player progresses enough into the main story, it'll be renamed to Nomad Camp, and the dataterm will move up north - more precisely, northwest of Westbrook.

How to fast travel - Cyberpunk 2077

Learn how to get around Night City using fast travel in Cyberpunk 2077.

Josh Hawkins

Fast traveling is a staple in open-world games and Cyberpunk 2077 is no different. If you don’t feel like cruising the streets of Night City and want to get places a little bit faster, then you can learn how to fast travel pretty early on. This guide will break it all down.

Much like The Witcher 3, fast travel in Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t actually applicable from anywhere on the map. Instead, you’ll need to actually travel to specific points on the map and then use them to fast travel to other points around the city. It’s very similar to the signpost system used in The Witcher 3, so many CDPR fans will probably already be familiar with the system.

How to fast travel - Cyberpunk 2077

Fast travel points can be found all around the map and will show up with a blue indicator on your screen when you are nearby. To interact with them you’re going to need to simply walk up to them, press the Interaction key, and select the point that you want to travel to. Unfortunately, fast travel itself is locked out for the first four or five hours of the game, so you’ll need to rely on V’s wheels a good bit at the start.

Fast travel can still be a really handy way to move across the city quickly, though, especially in later segments of the game where you need to cross entire districts. You can open up the map and look for the blue location icon and then set a waypoint to it to have your path outlined on the minimap.

Now that you have a firm grasp on how to fast travel in Cyberpunk 2077, make sure you also know how to skip time , another useful feature that will help you get the most out of your time in Night City. You can also check out our Cyberpunk 2077 guide , which includes a ton of useful guides and content designed.

Cyberpunk 2077 has a vast open world, but if you want to explore every corner of it, you shouldn’t just rely on vehicles and walking to get wherever you want go. You can fast travel in Cyberpunk 2077, but it works differently from other games. If you’re wondering how it works, this guide is here to help.

Cyberpunk 2077 fast travel, explained

Batty's Hotel fast travel point on the Cyberpunk 2077 map

You first get the option to fast travel during the first act of the game, right after you complete your lifepath-specific prologue quest in the Watson district. It doesn’t matter which path you pick, you’ll be able to fast travel at the same point with all of them.

You won’t be able to zip around the world right away, though. You may see fast travel locations on your map, but you’ll need to visit the travel nodes on foot before you can fast travel to them. This means that broadly speaking, the longer you play the game, the more locations you’ll be able to travel to.

Bear in mind that you can’t simply fast travel from wherever, like you can in the Fallout franchise. You need to head to specific places in order to fast travel. To fast travel after you’ve visited a point on the map, walk up to a tourist information center kiosk or station gates and you’ll see the map appear. Simply click the location you want to travel to, and you’ll be there in an instant. Watson, the starting district, has 29 fast travel locations, so when you’re there you can always get around.

How to Fast Travel in Cyberpunk 2.0

How to Fast Travel in Cyberpunk 2077 2.0

Image of Brent Koepp

With the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update overhauling the entire game, new and returning players will need to know how to use the fast travel system. The traversal mechanic allows you to instantly jump around Night City with just a few clicks. However, the feature can be a little confusing to understand at first. Here is how to fast travel in Cyberpunk 2077 2.0.

How do I fast travel in Cyberpunk 2077 2.0?

To fast travel in Cyberpunk 2077 2.0, you need to first unlock the feature by completing the mission “The Ride” in Act 1. Once the game lets you loose to explore Night City for the first time, you will be able to unlock fast travel terminals, which are blue markers on the map. However, you can’t actually fast travel using the map in Cyberpunk 2077 , as you instead need to physically walk to a fast travel terminal.

Screenshot of the Fast Travel map feature in Cyberpunk 2077 2.0

Once you are close enough to a fast travel terminal, you will get a prompt to Select Destination. This will pull up your map, which will then let you select a fast travel marker to warp to. Although it might seem clunky at first, there are actually more terminals per street corner in Night City than there are McDonald’s in most towns. You will only need to walk or drive a few feet before you bump into one of these glowing green beacons.

Screenshot of V using Fast Travel Terminal in Cyberpunk 2077 2.0

How do I unlock fast travel points?

To unlock more fast travel points in Cyberpunk 2077 2.0, you need to drive past destination terminals you haven’t accessed yet. Once you are within a certain distance, the terminal will be added to your fast travel system. However, it should be noted that you can’t immediately fast travel throughout Night City right away until you’ve actually gone around the map and unlocked terminals in each section.

Screenshot of unlocking fast travel terminal in Cyberpunk 2077 2.0

Should you use fast travel or drive manually in Cyberpunk 2077 2.0?

There is no downside to using fast travel in Cyberpunk 2077 , so we recommend using it whenever you need to get to a mission that is across town. However, an important aspect of Cyberpunk 2077 is all the side missions you naturally discover by driving around Night City. So you should really only use it when you have a specific place to be and you want to cut down on time. But for exploration, definitely stick to driving manually.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. The Phantom Liberty DLC will be released on September 26.

How to fast travel in Cyberpunk 2077

Night City is big — like, really  big  — and although it’s a treat to drive around on the city streets, you’ll need to fast travel   to level up fast in  Cyberpunk 2077  and unlock the best Cyberware in the game .  Cyberpunk 2077  uses a rather dated system for fast travel, however, leaving many players wondering how to get around quickly.

Unlocking fast travel points in Cyberpunk 2077

All of the fast travel locations in cyberpunk 2077.

In this guide, we’re going to show you how to fast travel in  Cyberpunk 2077,  as well as cover all of the fast travel locations dotted throughout the game’s map. Getting the fast travel locations out of the way first will allow you to focus on increasing your Street Cred and making money fast to buy new weapons, crafting specs, and Cyberware (and lead you to some of the best Easter eggs in the game ).

Fast travel isn’t available immediately in  Cyberpunk 2077.  You’ll need to progress past “The Ride” main story quest. It comes shortly after the prologue, about an hour into the game, where you meet Evelyn, one of the featured characters in  Cyberpunk ‘s marketing. After completing the quest, you’ll unlock the first fast travel point in the game.

Yes,  Cyberpunk 2077  uses fast travel points. You can’t freely fast travel in the game. Rather, you have to use one of the many Travel Information kiosks dotted around Night City to get around. All you need to do to fast travel in  Cyberpunk 2077  is find one of the Travel Information kiosks in Night City and interact with it. Then, you can choose another kiosk on the map and travel to it immediately.

Note that there’s no other way to fast travel. You can’t immediately jump to locations of interest — say, a Ripperdoc or a weapons shop. However, most Travel Information kiosks are located around shops and other points of interest.

Like other markers, you can set a route to a fast travel kiosk, which we recommend doing. It’s hard to nail down where the Travel Information kiosks are on the mini-map, but you can select a kiosk on the full map to create a route (just like a normal objective). In fact, you can mark a kiosk while you’re tracking another objective, which is very useful for progressing a quest on the other side of Night City.

You need to complete “The Ride” quest to unlock fast travel, but you won’t be able to immediately start jumping around Night City. On the, very crowded, Night City map, you’ll find the kiosks you’ve discovered as a blue hexagon with a pin in the center.

To unlock more kiosks, you’ll need to pass them. You don’t need to actually interact with every kiosk in  Cyberpunk 2077  to unlock them, but you do need to get relatively close (simply driving by might not do the trick). There isn’t any indication in the game that you’ve discovered a new fast travel location, so open the map to double-check if you’re going for all of them. If you can actually see the kiosk — both on the screen and on your mini-map — you should be fine.

There are a total of 150 Travel Information kiosks in  Cyberpunk 2077,  most of which are focused within the limits of Night City. The Badlands has fast travel locations, too, though there are fewer, and they’re more spaced out.

You won’t unlock all of the fast travel locations just by playing the game, but you will unlock a good chunk of them. Many of the locations tied to main and side quests have fast travel locations nearby, so you’ll slowly start filling the map just by playing through the game.

If you want to go for all of the locations, here are the number of Travel Information kiosks, broken down by district:

  • Pacifica – 7 kiosks
  • Santo Domingo  – 17 kiosks
  • Westbrook  – 25 kiosks
  • Heywood  – 25 kiosks
  • City Center  – 14 kiosks
  • Watson  – 33 kiosks

That adds up to 121 fast travel locations within the limits of Night City. There are an additional 29 fast travel locations situated around The Badlands. Two of them are immediately north of the city limits in Watson, close to the waterfront in an unmarked region. We can’t break the others down by district since they’re outside the limits of Night City, but because they’re so spaced out, we can break them down by region:

  • Rocky Ridge  – 10 kiosks
  • Sierra Sonora  – 1 kiosk
  • Red Peaks  – 3 kiosks
  • Laguna Bend  – 2 kiosks
  • Jackson Plains  – 5 kiosks
  • Rattlesnake Creek – 1 kiosk
  • Biotechnica Flats  – 5 kiosks

Remember, there are an additional two kiosks located north of Watson (the above list adds up to only 27 locations). Once you’ve tracked down all of them, you’ll be able to travel from the docks in Watson to the Las Palapas Motel in The Badlands in an instant.

Tekken 8 has only been out for a few days, but folks on the internet have already found a way to make some incredibly convincing recreations of some of their favorite characters from other properties. Perhaps one of the most impressive seen so far is a version of Leon Kennedy that closely resembles his appearance in the recent Resident Evil 4 remake, giving players an opportunity to enter the King of Iron Fist Tournament as a zombie-slaying brawler ... well, sort of.

As shown by YouTube creator Dan Allen Gaming, it's entirely possible to replicate Leon Kennedy's look to quite a shocking level using Tekken 8's detailed character customization features. Everything from his iconic leather bomber jacket to his quintessential '90s haircut is nailed perfectly here by using popular fighter Lars as a base for the customization due to his similarity to Leon in frame and stature.

How to Fast Travel in Cyberpunk 2077

Trolling through Cyberpunk 2077 ’s Night City reminds me why I’m not especially fond of city living: there are so many twists and turns, it takes forever to get anywhere, and it’s easy to get lost. If you can’t be bothered to drive yourself to and from your missions (and I know I can’t), it’s time to turn to our good friend Mr. Fast Travel. Here’s how to Fast Travel in Cyberpunk 2077 .

Here are the steps to fast travel in Cyberpunk 2077 :

  • Open your map and locate a Fast Travel Terminal
  • Head to the Fast Travel Terminal and activate it
  • Select your Fast Travel destination

Place to Place

Okay, so good news and bad news about Fast Traveling in this game. The good news is that there are lots of fast travel points all over Night City. You can identify them in-game as data terminals around the city. You’ll know them when you see them; they have big holograms floating over them. Fast Travel points are all marked on your map as blue markers, and nine times out of ten, there’s one within a convenient distance of where you need to be.

The bad news about Fast Traveling is that you can’t just do it whenever you want. You can only Fast Travel between Fast Travel terminals; in other words, you have to physically walk up to a terminal, activate it, and select your destination terminal, as opposed to just using it from your own map. Them’s the brakes, pal.

On the bright side, you don’t need to walk up to every Fast Travel terminal to get it added to your map. As you travel around Night City, either on foot or in your car, your map is constantly scanning for waypoints. Whenever a Fast Travel point is in your general vicinity, it’ll be automatically added to your map. Then, if you want to use that point, you can track it on your map. You’ll be guided there by a blue dotted line on your GPS.

More Fast Travel terminals will be added to your map as you explore the city and progress the story, though you can also bum around for a while on your own to get a bunch of them, at least within the parts of the city you’re currently permitted in.

Driving from place to place in Cyberpunk 2077 can let you explore the many sights that Night City has to offer. You have the interior of the city that is as lively as it is worrying, and the badlands which are a vast, lawless desert filled with more crime than it knows what to do with. After the first few times though, you might want to go from place to place faster. Here’s how to fast travel in Cyberpunk 2077.

How to Teleport to Other Places in Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 Fast Travel terminal

To fast travel in Cyberpunk 2077, you’ll first want to locate a Combatcab terminal somewhere in the city . This will be marked by a blue GPS marker somewhere on your map. Once you reach it, interact with it to open up the fast travel map. This will show an array of blue markers across the entire map. Simply select whichever one you want to teleport to, and you’ll travel there nearly instantly. Once you want to go back, simply head back to the terminal you teleported to and do the same thing.

Cyberpunk 2077 Fast Travel Map

There are dozens of fast travel points you can find throughout Night City. The majority are located in the Watson and Heywood districts, but you’ll even find a few out in the Badlands. Much less frequently mind you, but they’re still there. As of writing, there’s no way to unlock more of these points.

Should You Fast Travel or Drive There Manually?

Whether you should fast-travel is going to depend heavily on how much of Cyberpunk 2077 you want to complete . If you’re looking to finish the main story and that’s it, then these fast travel points should always be used. If you’re a completionist, you could miss out on a ton of side content by teleporting everywhere. If you’re somewhere in the middle, a mix of both should work nicely.

Cyberpunk 2077

A new Cyberpunk 2077 mod that has been released online this week introduces new fast travel features that make the experience more immersive.

The GTA Travel mod replaces the fast travel loading screens with real time dynamic camera transitions reminiscent of Grand Theft Auto V. The mod also features multiple fast travel options, such as the ability to fast travel from anywhere and more.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and body modification. You play as V, a mercenary outlaw going after a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality. You can customize your character’s cyberware, skillset and playstyle, and explore a vast city where the choices you make shape the story and the world around you.

Cyberpunk 2077: How to fix the “Unavailable” fast travel bug

Change the screen to say "Available"

If you have played Cyberpunk 2077 in any capacity, then you know the game is no stranger to bugs. While the developers at CD Projekt RED have cleaned up the RPG massively since its initial launch in 2020, there are still some lingering bugs you might run into every now and again. One of the bugs that plagued me as I was playing through the Phantom Liberty expansion was a fast travel bug that said the mechanic was “Unavailable” to use in Cyberpunk 2077.

Given how fast travel works in Cyberpunk 2077, having the entire service be unavailable is not something you want to see. If you’re unaware, you can only fast travel to different points around Night City by physically going to a fast travel beacon on the map. These beacons are just holograms on top of a large box with a screen on it, but you need them to work to fast travel in Cyberpunk 2077.

Experiencing this frustrating bug? Here’s how to fix it.

Fixing the Unavailable fast travel bug in Cyberpunk 2077

You will know you are encountering this bug if you visit a fast travel beacon and the orange screen on the box says “Unavailable.” Usually, the screen will give you your current location and then you can click on the box to select a new destination.

Cyberpunk 2077: How to fix the "Unavailable" fast travel bug

However, with the bug, the screen says “Unavailable” and you cannot select a fast travel destination . From what I can tell, this happens when you are in combat or being hunted by the police. The bug seems to arise when you visit a fast travel beacon while in combat and then simply remains unavailable even after the combat has ended or the police stop searching for you.

I was able to easily fix this bug by simply exiting out to the main menu of Cyberpunk 2077 and then loading my save back up . You want to ensure that you save before exiting, though.

Once I was back in the game, the fast travel beacon was restored and I could use it again. I can’t say for sure that this fix will work for you, but it seemed to work every time I encounter this annoying bug in Cyberpunk 2077.

At the time of writing, the developers still have not issued a patch for this issue, so you will have to continue using the fix I outlined above if you want to use the fast travel system again in Cyberpunk 2077.
