Hi I’m Alex, so glad you’re here! I specialize in helping body/mind/soul enthusiasts create heart-opening, healing and earth-friendly travel experiences.

Growing up in that melting pot called The Big Apple, I dreamed of visiting every country to feel the unique wonderment of their local vibe, their local experience and culture. World travel continues to broaden my experience and global perspective, cultivating my own compassion and understanding for humanity. This is why it’s become my passion, which I now love to share with others.

I love working on all kinds of itineraries, but I’m especially focused on Sustainable Wellness & Eco-Friendly Travel. (Five consecutive years at Camp Asto Wamah on Columbia Lake, CT will do that to a city girl!)

I believe that successful, well-curated travel planning requires a bit of resourcefulness, a keen attention to detail, some tech-savvy and most of all a commitment to top quality outcomes. I’ve blended my wanderlust with 20+ years of project management experience to curate uniquely customized itineraries just for you, the most discriminating client.

Favorite Travel Quote:”The more I traveled the more I realized that FEAR makes strangers of people who should be FRIENDS.” – Shirley MacClain

Alex is the founder of the Facebook Group “Sustainable & Eco-Friendly Wellness Experiences for the Luxury Traveler”, where she fosters a growing community of like-minded wanderlusters who share the same travel values. She is also an active member of Virtuoso’s Wellness Travel Community and Sustainable Travel Community.

Born and raised on the bootstraps of my father’s military career, I was introduced to the world’s cultures at an early age. We lived in different parts of Germany for 7 years, including Berlin when the wall was still up. I was witness to the famous speech by President Ronald Regan at Brandenburg Gate where he challenged “Mr. Gorbachev, Tear down this wall!”. This afforded me with the appreciation for history and cultures from the very start. Upon graduating from college, I accepted my first job at a travel company that specialized exclusively in travel to Greece. Providing the professional insight into the travel industry, my 10 year career with this company gave me a wealth of knowledge for the country of Greece, which coincidentally was home to my grandfather, who was born in a small town outside of Athens. Being of Greek heritage brought a special love for helping individual clients as well as travel agents plan their trips to this beautiful country. I have been fortunate enough to vacation in Greece several times, enjoying the incredible food, culture and scenery. As your Travel Insider, my expertise will help you enjoy the most incredible trip of a lifetime.

I believe life can get out of hand. People get lost in their day to day, the chaos, the things they feel they need to complete, and the things others tell them to complete. Sometimes it seems as if there isn’t enough hours in a day and sometimes there isn’t. My goal is to help take you away from your everyday so you’re able to reconnect with yourself, your family, and your friends. It’s time to take sometime out and truly start living!

For me, it’s all about creating authentic experiences. Living on 3 continents before I was 10 gave me a passion for travel that has never left me. I spent many years in the culinary world as a caterer and event planner and when I wasn’t working I was travelling, experiencing new adventures, immersing myself into the culture, cuisine, the people and wishing that I could do this forever. From love of travel, A Journey Afar was born. I create one-of-a-kind journeys that are tailored to each of my clients wants and desires, using hand picked expert suppliers that I work with directly to create the trip of your dreams. I believe that choosing a vacation should be an enjoyable and uncomplicated experience. My job is to design, organize and provide you with that experience. What journey can create for you today?

I believe travel is one of life’s ultimate joys- it never fails to inspire, educate, and fill me with wonder and gratitude. Having grown up in a military family afforded me the opportunity to live on 3 continents and opened my eyes to the world, and forever cemented a wanderlust for adventure. As an adult, I started to explore and took this passion to many countries, allowing me the benefit of learning and experiencing amazing locations, cuisines and cultures first hand. My background in the culinary arts and wedding and event planning made a natural choice to specialize in Culinary Adventures, Milestone Events, Destination Weddings and Honeymoons. What Journey can I create for you today?

My purpose as a travel advisor is to ensure that each and every travel day is an outstanding experience for my clients.

I have travelled to 6 of the 7 continents and know first hand the value of participation in designing trips – I have sent clients to wonderful health spas, on walking and biking holidays, on luxury beach holidays, to hidden ranches and to wonderful fly-in fishing resorts. I have seen first hand how travel can bring a family together – making memories of a life time.

I grew up in Canada – my parents believed in travel and we travelled the world. I lived overseas and went to university in France before returning to Canada and now the United States. I have travelled extensively with my family as well – my oldest son reached the milestone of visiting all seven continents by the time he was 21!

My love of adventure, food, wine, family, luxury – and the great outdoors! inspire me everyday.

Ever inquisitive and an explorer at heart, Carly has a fascination with encountering new people, places and experiences. She even studied psychology at the University of Miami to better understand what makes people tick.

Those qualities combine to make working at Insider a terrific fit — after a much less satisfying stint at a hedge fund. She thrives in an environment where she can contribute to the happiness of others. (Her dream is to breed golden retrievers someday.)

At home, Carly finds happiness in serving chocolate lava cake with a side of vanilla ice cream and a dash of strawberry. She adds that you can never go wrong with an espresso martini — always three beans.

Before I got in the travel industry, I took my four kids to Australia over Christmas. I realized it would be the last time I’d have just my kids without partners, spouses, jobs – we would just be together, making memories for a lifetime. You can’t get that back.

We took a 3-day sailing trip around the Whitsunday Islands. We were on the ship on Christmas Eve and Christmas day – it was surreal. There were 7-8 other people on the ship from other parts of the world. My kids loved talking to these other people, from other cultures as one of the highlights. It was an unexpected surprise that something like that was the highlight for my kids – we still have them as friends on Facebook!

This is why travel is so important to me. I want to provide memories like that for your family as well, and I love it when we can work together — truly collaborate — towards that end.

I believe travel offers a vital piece of education we need to better understand ourselves and our world. When we experience life, even for a brief period of time, through the eyes of another culture, we learn empathy.

After my twin girls were born, and after a 15 year career as a physical therapist, I decided to follow my passion and pursue travel. What amazing educational opportunities for my children to experience – learning to navigate airports, taste different foods and make new friends around the world!

I specialize in travel to western European countries, Italy and Hawaii – corners of the world rich with beauty, luxury and romance for couples, as well as fun and navigable for families. I bring my love of lifelong learning and attention to detail as a physical therapist to every itinerary I create. Just let me know what your ideal vacation experience looks like!

I’m from France (Provence) and came to the US 10 years ago. I live in California. My thorough knowledge of France is my forte, as I can customize off the beaten track trips to France or tours vs more touristy ones. I have my own team of guides, drivers and a great array of instructors and locals for specific activities. In addition to France, living in the US allows partnerships with local vendors which make possible any tour in the same spirit as in France: exclusive, unique, hands-on experiences. I consider myself a specialist of the US too, now. In addition, I can design your next vacation to other countries which I am very familiar with, such as Spain, Israël and South East Asia (the food is amazing there, and my Food&Wine tours are very successful!). I design your tours in exactly the way you want to experience a place! My vision is to perfectly personalize your trip to meet your expectations in the best possible way.

After a European study abroad in high school, I returned to the States with an ignited passion for travel. Since then, my desire has never faltered and I have traveled at every opportunity that presents itself. Raising two kids didn’t stop me from exploring the globe, and I’m thankful I was fortunate enough to show my children the wonders and adventures the world has to offer them through travel. Whether swimming the Great Barrier among a clan of manta rays, dog mushing on a frozen glacier, or wine tasting in Tuscany, the opportunities for exciting and fulfilling travel are almost endless. I know from first hand experience that travel is invaluable for everyone including children at any age, enriching their lives and broadening their perspective of the world and other people in it. Family travel is also a great bonding experience creating lifelong memories for you and your family. I look forward to advising you on your next journey and helping you create that special experience that will become part of your family’s stories for years to come.

What is more fun than living your dreams?

Taking a vacation should be the experience that you want, whether it’s a rugged bike ride across New Zealand’s South Island or a private, romantic dinner in front of Michelangelo’s David, you should be enjoying the adventures that you dream about.

Tell me what interests you, what excites you, what inspires you, or where in the world you want to simply find some fresh air — and I will tailor a custom experience for you!

I want you to come home recharged and energized. Let me help you find things of interest to you, while making the details of a complicated itinerary feel effortless as you explore new cultures, food, and people.

Some of my recent travels: marching with the penguins in Antarctica, Hawaii, a month in Greece and Turkey (including a few days in Israel); kayaking in Alaska (a favorite cruise destination); holidays in Japan — complete with snow monkeys in Nagano and feeding wild deer in Nara; 24 day Seabourn Cruise from UK to Canada with stops in Iceland and Greenland; a one week whirlwind trip to Argentina, including Buenos Aires, Mendoza’s wine country, and Iguazu Falls. The Salt Mine outside Bogota, Colombia was spectacular. If you want to see big animals, ask for my pictures from Tanzania and Kenya. If you prefer birds and fish, I have great pictures from the Galapagos (including a video of a shark!)

For cruises, I have sailed on almost every luxury and premium ocean line: Seabourn, Regent, Crystal, Celebrity, Azamara, Holland America, Princess, and Royal Caribbean, along with river cruise lines Uniworld and AMA. If you have questions, I have first hand experience.

I spend about 6 weeks on the road every year scouting new destinations and special experiences for clients. If there’s a unique destination on your list, let me know.

Ask me about: Galapagos, the Northern Lights and Antarctica!

Coming soon: Uniworld river cruise in Viet Nam / Cambodia; luxury all-inclusive Baltic cruise.

I have four passions — building companies, my family, travel, and giving back to the community. For nearly three decades, I launched numerous for-profit companies in the technology and hospitality sectors. To re-charge, I traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America. When my husband and I went from zero to three kids in 14 months, we promised each other that our new “lifestyle” wouldn’t hamper our love of travel. With three kids under two-years-old and a dog, our family of six took our first trip and never looked back. We love to explore new places — whether it’s a hidden beach, glacier, national park, museum, restaurant, amusement park, ranch, or adventure across the world.

Famventure leverages my business experience and allows me to share my love of family travel with others.

I’ve always loved traveling and started planning trips for others in my teenage years. Planning trips was such a pleasant hobby that I didn’t even consider it as a profession at first. Recently, I left my career as a lawyer to turn this “old hobby” and passion into a business. I’ve pretty much taken a “free fall” into tourism as decided to open my own travel business. Since 2019, it has been my full time job.

Believe it or not, I enjoy even the hours spent at a good airport!

I’m Brazilian, so I’m a native Portuguese speaker. I’m also fluent in English and French.

Spanish is my current project. At the moment, I read and understand at an advance level, speak and write at an intermediate level.

I would say my best ability is to craft VERY personalized itineraries. I truly believe there is no right way to travel and I often turn crazy dreams and ideas in reality, because “why not?”. Travelers should be able to enjoy every minute of their trip, and never do something just because everyone else does it. Time is our most precious asset! My goal is to hopefully provoke enough change and growth in people’s lives that they have no choice but to better themselves and their surroundings.

I grew up in Olympia, Washington and have always had a love for travel. I went on my first cruise in high school, and was hooked. After graduating from high school, I worked for a travel agency that taught me the travel business from the ground up, including Apollo (the United Airlines reservations system). I went to college at Washington State University, but still continued to work as a travel agent during my college breaks. After receiving my bachelors in business, I decided to travel by the world by working on cruise ships for two years as a hostess. When I returned on land, I moved to Las Vegas where I started working for Macy’s as a regional manager of tourism marketing. I gained so much experience in marketing, fashion and tourism. Five years ago, I became a travel advisor and love what I do. I love exotic beach vacations and everything Disney, so became a certified Disney expert as well as a cruise specialist. I love adventure and sharing my experiences such as taking a helicopter to a glacier in Alaska, swimming in the Blue Hole in Punta Cana, and one of my favorites, swimming with the pigs in the Bahamas. Travel is my true passion and love assisting my clients, developing relationships and making their vacation dreams come true.

The largest country in the world at 17,075,400 square kilometres (or 6,592,800 sq mi), Russia has accumulated quite an impressive reputation. Covering more than an eight of the Earth's land area, 142 million people live there making it the ninth largest nation by population . Still known for its impressive days as the expansive Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), Russia was the world's first and largest constitutionally socialist state. A recognized superpower, the USSR was known for its excellence in both arts and science winning many awards in both fields.

Russia changed drastically after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, but it continues to be a powerful and important nation. It has one of the world's fastest growing economies and the world's eight largest GDP by nominal GDP. Russia is also one of the five countries which officially recognized nuclear weapons states. In conjunction with this title, Russia is also a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, the G8, APEC and the SCO, and is a leading member of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

A European city in a country that lies over a vast part of Asia, Moscow holds one-tenth of all Russian residents . The city is located in the western region of Russia and is the capital and epicentre of political, economic, cultural, religious, financial, educational, and transportation happenings. "Muscovites" , as residents are known, tend to be cultured and worldly. This may be due to the many scientific, educational, and artistic institutions that are based here. An intoxicating mix of the exotic and the familiar, it is the largest city in Europe with the Moscow metropolitan area ranking among the largest urban areas in the world.

The city is situated on the banks of the Moskva River which flows through much of central Russia. Moscow is actually located in a basin for the Volga, Oka, Klyazma, and Moscow rivers. The city of Moscow is 994 sq. km with 49 bridges spanning the rivers and canals that criss-cross the city.

Forests are another part of Moscow's make-up. They coveer over a third of the territory in the region. A variety of animals like elk, wild boar, deer, foxes, weasels, lynx, martens, and birds make their home here.

Located in the UTC+3 time zone , Moscow has a humid continental climate. The summers tend to be warm and humid and the winters are long, cold, and hard. High temperatures occur during the warm months of June, July and August at about 23 °C (73 °F). Heat waves sometimes grip the city anywhere between May to September with temperatures spiking up to 30 °C (86 °F). Winters are harshly chilly with temperatures dropping to approximately 9 °C (15.8 °F). There is consistent snow cover for 3 to 5 months a year, usually from November to March.

The Moscow Metro Museum of Art: 10 Must-See Stations

There are few times one can claim having been on the subway all afternoon and loving it, but the Moscow Metro provides just that opportunity.  While many cities boast famous public transport systems—New York’s subway, London’s underground, San Salvador’s chicken buses—few warrant hours of exploration.  Moscow is different: Take one ride on the Metro, and you’ll find out that this network of railways can be so much more than point A to B drudgery.

The Metro began operating in 1935 with just thirteen stations, covering less than seven miles, but it has since grown into the world’s third busiest transit system ( Tokyo is first ), spanning about 200 miles and offering over 180 stops along the way.  The construction of the Metro began under Joseph Stalin’s command, and being one of the USSR’s most ambitious building projects, the iron-fisted leader instructed designers to create a place full of svet (radiance) and svetloe budushchee (a radiant future), a palace for the people and a tribute to the Mother nation.

Consequently, the Metro is among the most memorable attractions in Moscow.  The stations provide a unique collection of public art, comparable to anything the city’s galleries have to offer and providing a sense of the Soviet era, which is absent from the State National History Museum.  Even better, touring the Metro delivers palpable, experiential moments, which many of us don’t get standing in front of painting or a case of coins.

Though tours are available , discovering the Moscow Metro on your own provides a much more comprehensive, truer experience, something much less sterile than following a guide.  What better place is there to see the “real” Moscow than on mass transit: A few hours will expose you to characters and caricatures you’ll be hard-pressed to find dining near the Bolshoi Theater.  You become part of the attraction, hear it in the screech of the train, feel it as hurried commuters brush by: The Metro sucks you beneath the city and churns you into the mix.

With the recommendations of our born-and-bred Muscovite students, my wife Emma and I have just taken a self-guided tour of what some locals consider the top ten stations of the Moscow Metro. What most satisfied me about our Metro tour was the sense of adventure .  I loved following our route on the maps of the wagon walls as we circled the city, plotting out the course to the subsequent stops; having the weird sensation of being underground for nearly four hours; and discovering the next cavern of treasures, playing Indiana Jones for the afternoon, piecing together fragments of Russia’s mysterious history.  It’s the ultimate interactive museum.

Top Ten Stations (In order of appearance)

Kievskaya station.

coastline travel virtuoso

Kievskaya Station went public in March of 1937, the rails between it and Park Kultury Station being the first to cross the Moscow River.  Kievskaya is full of mosaics depicting aristocratic scenes of Russian life, with great cameo appearances by Lenin, Trotsky, and Stalin.  Each work has a Cyrillic title/explanation etched in the marble beneath it; however, if your Russian is rusty, you can just appreciate seeing familiar revolutionary dates like 1905 ( the Russian Revolution ) and 1917 ( the October Revolution ).

Mayakovskaya Station

Mayakovskaya Station ranks in my top three most notable Metro stations. Mayakovskaya just feels right, done Art Deco but no sense of gaudiness or pretention.  The arches are adorned with rounded chrome piping and create feeling of being in a jukebox, but the roof’s expansive mosaics of the sky are the real showstopper.  Subjects cleverly range from looking up at a high jumper, workers atop a building, spires of Orthodox cathedrals, to nimble aircraft humming by, a fleet of prop planes spelling out CCCP in the bluest of skies.

Novoslobodskaya Station

coastline travel virtuoso

Novoslobodskaya is the Metro’s unique stained glass station.  Each column has its own distinctive panels of colorful glass, most of them with a floral theme, some of them capturing the odd sailor, musician, artist, gardener, or stenographer in action.  The glass is framed in Art Deco metalwork, and there is the lovely aspect of discovering panels in the less frequented haunches of the hall (on the trackside, between the incoming staircases).  Novosblod is, I’ve been told, the favorite amongst out-of-town visitors.

Komsomolskaya Station

Komsomolskaya Station is one of palatial grandeur.  It seems both magnificent and obligatory, like the presidential palace of a colonial city.  The yellow ceiling has leafy, white concrete garland and a series of golden military mosaics accenting the tile mosaics of glorified Russian life.  Switching lines here, the hallway has an Alice-in-Wonderland feel, impossibly long with decorative tile walls, culminating in a very old station left in a remarkable state of disrepair, offering a really tangible glimpse behind the palace walls.

Dostoevskaya Station

coastline travel virtuoso

Dostoevskaya is a tribute to the late, great hero of Russian literature .  The station at first glance seems bare and unimpressive, a stark marble platform without a whiff of reassembled chips of tile.  However, two columns have eerie stone inlay collages of scenes from Dostoevsky’s work, including The Idiot , The Brothers Karamazov , and Crime and Punishment.   Then, standing at the center of the platform, the marble creates a kaleidoscope of reflections.  At the entrance, there is a large, inlay portrait of the author.

Chkalovskaya Station

Chkalovskaya does space Art Deco style (yet again).  Chrome borders all.  Passageways with curvy overhangs create the illusion of walking through the belly of a chic, new-age spacecraft.  There are two (kos)mosaics, one at each end, with planetary subjects.  Transferring here brings you above ground, where some rather elaborate metalwork is on display.  By name similarity only, I’d expected Komsolskaya Station to deliver some kosmonaut décor; instead, it was Chkalovskaya that took us up to the space station.

Elektrozavodskaya Station

coastline travel virtuoso

Elektrozavodskaya is full of marble reliefs of workers, men and women, laboring through the different stages of industry.  The superhuman figures are round with muscles, Hollywood fit, and seemingly undeterred by each Herculean task they respectively perform.  The station is chocked with brass, from hammer and sickle light fixtures to beautiful, angular framework up the innards of the columns.  The station’s art pieces are less clever or extravagant than others, but identifying the different stages of industry is entertaining.

Baumanskaya Statio

Baumanskaya Station is the only stop that wasn’t suggested by the students.  Pulling in, the network of statues was just too enticing: Out of half-circle depressions in the platform’s columns, the USSR’s proud and powerful labor force again flaunts its success.  Pilots, blacksmiths, politicians, and artists have all congregated, posing amongst more Art Deco framing.  At the far end, a massive Soviet flag dons the face of Lenin and banners for ’05, ’17, and ‘45.  Standing in front of the flag, you can play with the echoing roof.

Ploshchad Revolutsii Station

coastline travel virtuoso

Novokuznetskaya Station

Novokuznetskaya Station finishes off this tour, more or less, where it started: beautiful mosaics.  This station recalls the skyward-facing pieces from Mayakovskaya (Station #2), only with a little larger pictures in a more cramped, very trafficked area.  Due to a line of street lamps in the center of the platform, it has the atmosphere of a bustling market.  The more inventive sky scenes include a man on a ladder, women picking fruit, and a tank-dozer being craned in.  The station’s also has a handsome black-and-white stone mural.

Here is a map and a brief description of our route:

Start at (1)Kievskaya on the “ring line” (look for the squares at the bottom of the platform signs to help you navigate—the ring line is #5, brown line) and go north to Belorusskaya, make a quick switch to the Dark Green/#2 line, and go south one stop to (2)Mayakovskaya.  Backtrack to the ring line—Brown/#5—and continue north, getting off at (3)Novosblodskaya and (4)Komsolskaya.  At Komsolskaya Station, transfer to the Red/#1 line, go south for two stops to Chistye Prudy, and get on the Light Green/#10 line going north.  Take a look at (5)Dostoevskaya Station on the northern segment of Light Green/#10 line then change directions and head south to (6)Chkalovskaya, which offers a transfer to the Dark Blue/#3 line, going west, away from the city center.  Have a look (7)Elektroskaya Station before backtracking into the center of Moscow, stopping off at (8)Baumskaya, getting off the Dark Blue/#3 line at (9)Ploschad Revolyutsii.  Change to the Dark Green/#2 line and go south one stop to see (10)Novokuznetskaya Station.

The trains and stations of the Moscow Metro

2 Comments · Posted by Alex Smirnov in Cities , Travel , Video

The Moscow Metro is the third most intensive subway system in the world after Tokyo and Seoul subways. The first line was opened on May 15, 1935. Since 1955, the metro has the name of V.I. Lenin.

The system consists of 12 lines with a total length of 305.7 km. Forty four stations are recognized cultural heritage. The largest passenger traffic is in rush hours from 8:00 to 9:00 and from 18:00 to 19:00.

Cellular communication is available on most of the stations of the Moscow Metro. In March 2012, a free Wi-Fi appeared in the Circle Line train. The Moscow Metro is open to passengers from 5:20 to 01:00. The average interval between trains is 2.5 minutes.

The fare is paid by using contactless tickets and contactless smart cards, the passes to the stations are controlled by automatic turnstiles. Ticket offices and ticket vending machines can be found in station vestibules.

Touring the Top 10 Moscow Metro Stations

By Claudia Looi 2 Comments

Komsomolskaya metro station

Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.

Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.

Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.

The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow.   Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.

The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:

1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station  is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.

2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

3. Arbatskaya Metro Station served as a shelter during the Soviet-era. It is one of the largest and the deepest metro stations in Moscow.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

5. Kievskaya Metro Station was one of the first to be completed in Moscow. Named after the capital city of Ukraine by Kiev-born, Nikita Khruschev, Stalin's successor.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.

9. Belorusskaya Metro Station is named after the people of Belarus. In the picture below, there are statues of 3 members of the Partisan Resistance in Belarus during World War II. The statues were sculpted by Sergei Orlov, S. Rabinovich and I. Slonim.
