Persona 5 Royal Crossword Solutions

Crosswords  are just one of several significantly changed mechanics that Persona 5 Royal adds a to the Persona 5 experience, another ofm the many new systems and moments meant to flesh out your time when you're not dungeon crawling. While not new in P5R, they've been adjusted in such a way that the Crossword Puzzles  have gone from an activity to avoid to a must-complete to make the most of the game.

In general, Persona 5 Royal Crosswords are the same as those in vanilla Persona 5, though how you access them has been tweaked slightly. Long story short, the content of the crosswords is identical across both versions of Persona 5, which means that this guide is suitable for both those who are playing the vanilla game as well as the Royal version.

This is a relatively straightforward guide - these are just crossword answers after all, so single-word solutions - but we have broken this page into two different sections: one offering the dates the Persona 5 Royal Crosswords are first available to attempt, and one list that features all of the crossword solutions and answers. Here goes:

  • Crossword Puzzle Answers
  • Why you should do Crosswords
  • Crossword Dates, Spoiler-free without solutions

What’s Your Travel Persona?

time for a trip persona

Your Travel Persona is you, but on vacation. It’s the side of you that governs everything to do with traveling; from your destinations to the activities you choose to the hotels you stay in. Your Travel Persona is your constant guide. Below  common Travel Personas, and some travelers will find that they fit into their category pretty neatly. However, others will find they morph into several categories. To help you make the most of your newfound knowledge about your travel persona, there’s also a few suggestions for destinations that should appeal to your inner-self, so you can be sure that your next vacation suits you perfectly. Keep reading to find out which persona you belong to.

THE NATURE-LOVER

The nature-lover finds joy in exploring unique landscapes and serious hiking opportunities. Most of their trips are determined by the variety of natural marvels they can see on their trip. Often times they look for destinations that allow them to take in as many different landscapes as possible.

WHERE SHOULD YOU GO?

time for a trip persona

ICELAND –  Although Iceland has now become one of the most popular destinations, most people stick to the south of the island. While there is a large amount of natural wonders in the south, the island is covered with hundreds more epic landscapes. Iceland has a different landscape around every corner and sure to appease any nature-lover’s desires!

THE LUXURY TRAVELER

The luxury traveler is the kind of traveler who wants to see the world… in a certain way. If you’re a luxury traveler, then you are more likely to look at hotels before you think about the actual destination, and the idea of “roughing it” is anathema to your travel plans. You’re the kind of traveler who dreams of a private jet for your own usage, looking for more info on the perfect interior for it, and traveling with your comfort as the top priority.

time for a trip persona

DUBAI –  It may seem a little cliche, but there’s really nowhere else in the world better for luxury travelers than Dubai. After all, this is the city with a seven-star hotel , a huge shopping mall featuring all the luxury brands, and man-made islands with the most perfect beaches you’ve ever seen. If you’re a luxury traveler, then Dubai is an absolute must-visit.

THE SPIRITUAL WANDERER

The spiritual wanderer is a person who’s looking to get in touch with their inner-self and their spiritual side. They may enjoy activities like exploring eastern temples, spiritual retreats, yoga or mediation. The spiritual wanderer is often on a quest, but that doesn’t necessarily mean traveling from place to place. Sometimes, that means staying in one place.

time for a trip persona

LUANG PRABANG  – This slow-paced mountain town is the perfect place to get in touch with your spiritual side. It’s often referred to as the spiritual center of Laos. There are dozens of Buddhist temples where you can meditate with monks, you can enjoy a yoga class with Luang Prabang yoga and the natural views around the city are sure to put you in a zen mood.

THE ADVENTURE-JUNKIE

The adventure-junkie is not the kind of person who goes on vacation to relax. In fact, sunning themselves on the beach is their idea of a nightmare. They want high octane excitement every day that they’re away; there’s not a bridge they don’t want to bungee jump from, a mountain they don’t want to ride a bike down. Adventure-junkies are more likely to come home from their vacation needing a rest than feeling refreshed and rejuvenated!

time for a trip persona

NEW ZEALAND –  If you’re looking for a trip of non-stop excitement, then New Zealand is an essential choice. New Zealand is a country full of a variety of natural wonders, and there’s more adventure activities to try than you could possibly fit into a two week vacation— so you might need to go twice! From glaciers to incredible mountains, New Zealand has got it all, and is simply the best choice for adventure-junkies on the lookout for their next destination.

time for a trip persona

SOUTHERN UTAH – Southern Utah is the perfect place for adventure-junkies. Its desert landscape is phenomenal for your next trip! You can hike, rock climb, mountain bike and more! If you want to do something a little less physical, you can rent a jeep and take it off roading or on some epic 4-wheel drive roads.

time for a trip persona

THE HISTORY BUFF

History buffs are looking to see the world… as it used to be. While modern cities are fun, for the history buff, looking back is more important than looking forward. They want to explore ancient artefacts, learn more about the civilizations of centuries long past, and immerse themselves in the stories of the people who once walked the same roads they can now walk in the 21st century. If you’re a history buff, you’ll know the thrill of being able to immerse yourself in a city or country. While museums are important to you, what you really want is a city of living history, where the old aligns with the new, creating a spectacular bridge across the centuries.

time for a trip persona

ITALY –  Italy is a haven for Historical Travelers. You’ll likely want to spend a week or two in the country, exploring all the incredible historical sites that this country has to offer. Much of the history is “living” history too, so you don’t need to spend your days cooped up in a museum just to look back in time. You’ll definitely want to visit the ruins of Pompeii , as well as the capital, Rome, which is home to some of the most stunning ancient structures in the world.

time for a trip persona

GREECE –  Another epic destination for Historical Travelers is Greece. The whole country is dotted with archaeological sites that you can remember from Greek Mythology and history classes. Don’t miss Olympia where the first ever Olympics were held and Delphi where major political decisions were made.

THE CULTURE VULTURE

For a cultural vulture, a vacation is a chance to see another culture. If you’re this kind of traveler, then you’re likely accustomed to spending a lot of your vacations indoors. You like to wander museums, art galleries, attend ballets and symphonies— the destination itself isn’t quite so important. Cultural vultures tend to love to spend their time exploring a city in depth, so they’re less likely to take off backpacking, go on a city break, or be willing to tour a large area in a short space of time. Instead, Cultural Travelers like to root themselves for their vacation, dive deep into an area, and soak up the culture of their chosen destination.

time for a trip persona

AMSTERDAM –  For the other personas, it’s been possible to select an entire country— but cultural vultures will want something more specific. If you’re a cultural vulture, then look no further than the Dutch capital of Amsterdam. Amsterdam is home to two World Heritage sites, 96 theaters, 81 museums, 43 Michelin-starred restaurants, and plenty more besides. If you’re looking to visit a city with a rich culture just waiting to be explored, Amsterdam is the perfect choice for your next vacation.

time for a trip persona

NEW YORK CITY –  A perfect spot in the U.S. for the culture vultures is NYC. There are around 100 museums and epic restaurants and bars to visit. They don’t have to be Michelin-starred to be delicious. Plus, New York City is the home of Broadway and there’s unparalleled architecture in this city.

Foodies are all about, you guessed it, food! Foodies scope out destinations based on where they can find unique flavors, fresh ingredients and local dishes. The foodie doesn’t necessarily need high class restaurants, they just want to make their taste buds feel alive. In fact, often times street food is their preference.

time for a trip persona

THAILAND –  Thailand is one of the greatest destinations for food EVER. The food is amazing quality, full of flavor and it can be as cheap or expensive as you want it to be. In addition to local markets, fine dining and street food, Thailand is a phenomenal place to take a cooking class as well. Then, you can wow your friends with your amazing Thai recipes.

THE TRAVEL CHAMELEON

The travel chameleon is the person who does it all and blends into ever scenario. I think I tend to be in this category. When I got to a destination I want to dig in to the culture, to explore the nature and sample the local flavors. The world is big and each destination has a little something different to offer. However, there are several destinations that have it all.

time for a trip persona

BALI, INDONESIA –  Although Bali isn’t a massive island, I truly feel like it has it all. There’s rich culture + art, delicious local foods, a unique form of Hinduism + spirituality, loads of yoga, stunning nature and plenty of adventure opportunities like white-water-rafting and scuba diving!

Whether you perfectly fit the personas above or have a hybrid Travel Persona, the destination ideas suggested should appeal to you. By letting your inner traveling voice be your guide when choosing where you should visit next, you can be confident of a vacation experience that you’ll absolutely adore.

Which travel persona are you, did you enjoy this post pin it so others can too.

I it possible to be more the one? I think I have a combination as a culture vulture, foodie, and the travel chameleon. I guess it depends on where I am going.

Oh yeah! You can totally have more than one. I think I’m a combination too. Chameleon, Culture Vulture and Nature Lover are my main three.

Such a wonderful post Paige! This got me thinking and I realised that I don’t fit in any one, but many (I am sure like many others). This opens up even more travel opportunities I guess…right now it’s New Zealand on my mind 🙂

I am a travel chameleon mostly, except for the fact that I have fewer shades of spiritual travel and foodie travel. I like sampling local cuisine but I can also, be least bothered about the food bit. Loved reading the description of the various types. Cheers

The 5 Travel Personas

Author Image

Posted July 19, 2021 in  Travel Guide - Last updated January 27, 2024

Post

What is a travel persona? A travel persona reflects your mindset on what you hope and expect from your next trip. These personas may change for any individual or group depending on their needs. It is crucial to categorize your travel persona and those you will travel with to ensure you can mesh on energy levels and similar activities. Of the 5 travel personas we’ve identified, be it an adventurer, culturalist, foodie, groupie, or relaxer, which will you associate with? Find out your own and others’ travel persona here!

Travel-Wise is centered around finding travel that meets your personal needs in seeking a trip. So, let’s dive in and explore the five travel personas we identify with and generally see most travelers fitting into. Most travelers will associate with one or more of these and experience disappointment or disinterest in a trip should their travel persona not be met.

What is your travel persona?

What is your travel persona

Also, check out our quiz for help identifying your Travel Persona here .

Come back anytime to refer to our handy guide and take our quiz at any time. You should expect your travel persona to change from trip to trip or overtime. Sometimes, depending on who you travel with. It is forever changing, and it may even be hard to pin down a persona! But thinking about it and poking through what you want from your next trip will help you center any itineraries, places to visit, and whom to take with you on your next trip!

Our extensive experience with travel carefully crafted this list and categories of travel persona worth noting. There could be more, but we restricted it down for simplicity. It is worth noting that these travel personas have nothing to do with budget restrictions with travel and more to do with what speaks to your heart regarding wants in travel. Further, extensive stays, digital nomading, short trips, etc., do not necessarily describe your travel persona either. It is purely in the details of the activities you pursue and where you spend your time. Regardless of how little or a lot of time, there is in your trip.

1. The Adventurer Travel Persona

The Adventurer Travel Persona

A thrill-seeker and always down for something new, the adventurer turns every trip into an exciting experience. Adventurers yearn for the thrill of experiencing the rare sights that are harder to explore and get their hearts beating. Unfortunately, adrenaline rushes come with the territory as the adventures are often not as structured nor pursue safe activities that other travelers may prefer. The Adventurer travel persona is full of ambition and stories and will surely not let a trip get dull.

Adventurers prefer activities that take them off the beaten track and away from the crowds. They want to feel nature and may even prefer eco-tourism over other options. More than anything, it must be fun and exciting. Activities that interest Adventurers are scuba diving, mountain climbing, hiking, kayaking, backpacking, and exploring rural or hard-to-reach places and expeditions. It also happens to be that Adventurers are the most rare of the 5 travel personas.

Adventurers embrace

  • hiking along the side of a volcano
  • swimming with the sharks
  • riding a motorbike in the crowded streets of Southeast Asia
  • braving the world’s jungles for a chance to see the rare and more challenging sights to see

The motto is: “If you’re not living life on the edge, you’re taking up too much space.”

2. The Relaxer Travel Persona

The Relaxer Travel Persona

To a relaxer, an actual vacation is painless and easygoing. With life back at home already so hectic and stressful, relaxers intentionally book holidays that free them from the hassle of making too many decisions. So long as they pamper themselves with adequate sleep, delicious food, spa treatments, etc., the destination is less important than the relaxation they seek.

I also lump in the general casual traveler who wants minimum planning for a trip, arrive, and figure things out on the go to align with the relaxer persona. These folk will show up with no plans of backpacking or hitchhiking anywhere locals tell them they are worth seeing. Also, in today’s day and age, the digital nomad travels worldwide, seeking new places to work from. Again, a comfortable environment with strong internet is desired with the possibility of experiencing the local environment on the weekends.

Individuals who often pursue business travel or digital nomads tend to be relaxers, as they are visiting for the long haul. They pursue low-stress and more absorbing activities, such as hanging out at local establishments and bars. Further, they immerse and particularly want to engage in other activities that take away some of the stress of their daily work.

Relaxers prefer

  • resorts with a lovely sunny waterside view free of distractions
  • trips with minimal planning and effort but also minimal moving around
  • focus on spas, rehabilitation, detoxification, and purifying of the mind and body
  • long-term stays that prioritize comfort and the ability to work remotely
  • low-stress activities
  • engaging and absorbing conversations with others over alcoholic beverages

The motto is: “True freedom is to wake up daily without a plan and go with the flow.”

3. The Culturalist Travel Persona

The Culturalist Travel Persona

The world is filled with many mysteries, and what greater joy than spending free time exploring the stories of what came before? Culturists want to understand history and modern-day culture, see the intricacies of building architecture, and are fascinated with being fully absorbed. A culturalist will also go the extra mile if needed to be fully explored, including some level of adventure to unravel the mysteries and answer the questions they seek.

Culturalists tend to absorb from books and documentaries to internet research into the details and want to travel to experience things for themselves. They are often very knowledgeable and highly engaged. They want accurate information in their language with as much detail as possible. They will read every board, pamphlet, or article related to the subject matter as they are genuinely interested in the details.

Culturalists love

  • studying the remnants of a civilization’s past
  • absorbing the local architecture such as cathedrals, tombs, tribal statues, etc
  • visiting local museums and places of shared historical knowledge
  • finding the novelty and historical meaning behind current world values
  • answering deep burning questions by looking at ancient or modern-day cultural experiences

The motto is: “History is always filled with the interesting lessons of the past.”

4. The Groupie Travel Persona

The Groupie Travel Persona

In every household, one person is always the most on top of organizing events. Thanks to the groupie’s hard work, group outings/family vacations are made possible through tireless coordination of logistics and finances. Groupies tend to travel for the love of sharing experiences with others.

Whether social media influencers share their expertise with the world or are traveling with the sheer wants to spend time with friends and family on their adventure, these travelers always have someone nearby or at least at the top of their minds. Groupies have sharing and friendship at the top of their list for their travel schedule.

Groupies enjoy

  • package deals with little self-planning
  • safaris, cruises, and tours
  • extensive group tours with transportation
  • group trip with all-inclusive arrangements such as cruise ships and resorts
  • organized tours or packages that help make it easy for their group to enjoy
  • group discount rates that lower the price for large groups

The motto is: “A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles.”

5. The Foodie Travel Persona

The Foodie Travel Persona

For some, the love of food trumps all. A passionate foodie will plan all their food stops on a trip before moving on to the other logistics. While other activities are in scope for a foodie, food remains the top priority and foremost criterion for determining the trip’s success. At the heart of eating food also comes sharing that dining or wining experience.

It is not all about eating, though, Foodies. They also want to absorb into the food culture, meet others, kick back and share drinks with friends, and absorb in the social atmosphere. Many of their activities are engaging and centered around seeing easy-to-reach places and sampling the best of the food around. It is essential for the food to be good and the entire experience around it worthwhile. Foodies want to connect with their food and share those experiences with others.

The top activities a foodie may book would include:

  • food or wine-tasting tours
  • cooking classes
  • reservations at Michelin-star restaurants
  • locally recommended restaurants are not always visible on TripAdvisor or other review websites
  • visits to the street markets/food stalls

The motto is: “Food is the anchor in the tempest of life.”

Persona 3 Reload: How to Fuse Helel

This guide will show you everything you will need to fuse the Persona, Helel, in Atlus' Persona 3 Reload.

Quick Links

How to max out star social link in persona 3 reload, how to fuse helel in persona 3 reload.

Among many of the other end-game Persona in Persona 3 Reload , Helel is incredibly powerful but will require some intricate fusing to take place in the Velvet Room. There are a few different prerequisites that need to be met to even have the option to start creating Helel as well.

Though there are a few different steps you'll need to complete to fuse Helel, this guide will go through everything you need to know. Helel is one of the best Persona to have towards the end of the campaign when you need to prepare for the final battle with Nyx, so here's what you'll need to do to make it.

Persona 3 Reload Shared Computer

Persona 3 Reload: Shared Computer Guide

persona 3 reload mamoru hayase social link courage stat unlock

To unlock the ability to fuse Helel, you'll first need to fully max out the Star Social Link to Rank 10. To do this, you'll want to meet with Mamoru on August 2nd at the Iwatodai Strip Mall. He is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

You'll also need to make sure that your Courage is at least at Rank 4 . There are many different tasks you can do to improve this Social Stat, including singing Karaoke, visiting Game Parade, eating at Wilduck Burger, and much more. Once you've properly completed these two requirements, you'll receive a notification in the game that you now can fuse Helel.

Persona 3 Reload Hell Biker

Persona 3 Reload: How to Fuse Hell Biker

Similar to the Persona Messiah, Helel can be made through the Simple Fusion option in the Velvet Room. To make Helel, you can choose between the three fusion options below:

  • Alilat (Empress) + Loki (Fool)
  • Metatron (Aeon) + Lilith (Devil)
  • Messiah (Judgement) + Futsunushi or Rangda (Magician)

Since this guide explains how to fuse Messiah , this option of the three will be selected to make Helel. Now, the only Persona that will be remaining is either Futsunushi or Rangda , which are both Magician types. These Persona require the following to be fused:

  • Futsunushi: Raphael (Lovers) + Kikuri-Hime (Priestess) or Garuda (Star) + Atropos (Fortune)
  • Rangda: Virtue (Justice) + Kurama Tengu (Hermit) or Naga Raja (Emperor) + Hanuman (Strength)

If you're having trouble choosing which Persona to utilize to fuse Helel, the best thing to do is visit the Compendium Summon section in the Velvet Room. This will allow you to take a look at every single Persona you've unlocked already, and see if you already have the required Persona to make Helel. You can then summon them for a price if you don't currently have the Persona in your inventory.

time for a trip persona

When you’re not dungeon crawling or hanging out with your pals in Persona 5 Royal , you’re trying your best to improve yourself by increasing your five social stats: Knowledge, Guts, Proficiency, Kindness, and Charm. Each one increases a bit by completing small tasks, like studying, eating, watching a movie, or working a part-time job.

Unfortunately, these tasks take up that could be used hanging with your pals or dungeon crawling. Luckily, certain tasks are both brief enough to not take away time and still increase your social stats. In vanilla Persona 5, completing crossword puzzles was an easy way to increase your knowledge stat by a point, while saving time. Persona 5 Royal takes it to the next level by introducing 34 new word puzzles, and we’ve got the answers to all of them.

How do I find and complete the crossword in Persona 5 Royal ?

When it’s available, the crossword can be found on the table in LeBlanc near the staircase . It’ll appear as a bright red magazine. Interact with it to get the crossword started.

You’ll be given a letter bank and a few clues. One clue will be highlighted in light blue. If you can answer the light blue crossword answer, the game will consider the crossword complete, thus rewarding you with a boost to your Knowledge stat without any in-game time passing. You can answer the non-highlighted questions as well, all it will do is reduce the letters available, thus narrowing down what the other answers can be. There is no gameplay benefit for being a crossword completionist.

What’s your travel persona? Are you a careful planner or perhaps an open-minded adventurer?

SITA , a technology solutions company for the air industry, recently released a report analyzing U.S. passenger behaviors with technology in regard to the flying process. It identified four different types of travelers: the careful planner, independent and hyper connected, pampered, and the open-minded adventurer.

RELATED: How to Spot Your Ideal Travel Companion

By identifying passenger behaviors, the company hopes to develop useful designs in technology to improve travelers’ overall flying experiences. The findings are based on a survey given to 1,411 passengers who traveled through 46 international airports between December 2014 and March 2015.

The survey asked passengers to rate different stages of their journey on a scale of happiness, excitement, anger, or anxiety. The results are pretty interesting, but not surprising, as Americans tend to be pretty predictable …

U.S. Travelers’ Personalities

time for a trip persona

  • The Careful Planner : 58 percent of Americans resonate with this type of personality, with traits that include double-checking preparations, printing out documents, and having verbal confirmation about plans.
  • Independent and Hyper Connected : 18 percent of Americans prefer efficiency and are more impatient.
  • Pampered : 13 percent of U.S. travelers can afford a higher standard of service and prefer lounges, loyalty programs, and other extra amenities.
  • Open-Minded Adventurer : 12 percent of Americans are traveling more for the experience and are open to new services.

While we all wish we were open-minded adventurers, most of us fit the practical, careful planner persona like the rest of the country.

Technology During the Flying Process

Overall, 81 percent of U.S. passengers felt positive emotions during their travel journey, with the most positive experiences during booking, down time, and while on board. The most negative emotions were felt during security screening, passport check, and bag collection (who actually likes dealing with ambiguous wait times?). We were actually surprised by the overall positivity in this process (see graph below; note purple represents negative emotions, green represents positive emotions, the dashed line represents global average).

RELATED: New Site Helps Flyers Find Happy Flights

time for a trip persona

In analyzing the different parts of a traveler’s journey, the survey found more positive experiences were had when technology was involved. Only 5 percent of U.S. travelers booked their last flight using human interaction (the most positive rated experience of the whole process), and 65 percent used technology to check-in.

Mobile technology is a major tool for U.S. travelers, as 29 percent of passengers booked a flight with a mobile phone; this number is expected to increase in 2016 to 38 percent.

RELATED: The 8 Best (and Worst) Travel Apps

Based on these behavioral trends, SITA suggests the need for mobile services targeting flight status updates and alerts, wait times for baggage collection, security line wait times, and destination services for onward travel. Because who wouldn’t love being able to track your bag on your phone?

NOTE: You can receive bonuses by having a previous Persona 5 save data on your hard drive. They "can be retrieved by accessing the cardboard box in your room." Very cool. I suppose we'll see what those are later...

After starting a new game, you'll be presented with a rather generic "This story is a work of fiction" message. You MUST AGREE to this to continue (I had to test it... oppose fate and all that). Shortly after you agree, the game will start in earnest, labeling you a "Trickster" and then playing a very cool cut-scene.

After some chatter (during which the ultra-stylish song Life Will Change starts up), we will be in control of "Joker". Run along the top of the hanging platforms, jumping [X BUTTON] whenever you need to. When the guards see you, go left, jumping down and continuing on until we're forced into our first battle.

We're fighting a "Sacrificial Pyrekeeper" here, but it has no chance against us. You can win this fight just by spamming the "ATTACK" option [X BUTTON], so take it out and after Joker escapes some more foes, exit through a doorway and go up the stairs beyond to continue.

time for a trip persona

We're in more of a "traditional Persona" area now, but it is very linear - just head north, then west through some doors, down some stairs, then north again through another pair of doors until you're stopped automatically. Watch some guards go about their business and Joker will hide behind a bin automatically. From here you'll need to dash between cover (that trusty [X BUTTON] again) to get near the guard, after which exit cover by pressing the [CIRCLE BUTTON].

Continue upstairs past where the guard was until you're stopped again, at which point you'll be directed to use your grappling hook [L1 BUTTON] to reach high ground. This constitutes the first change from the base game. Neat. More changes are looming ahead, though. Exit to the south and you'll be introduced to a "Mysterious Girl", one of the new characters in Persona 5 Royal. After the scene (which is admittedly an awesome way to introduce this new character), we'll be in another fight. This fight is scripted as the girl will critical everyone, leading to an inevitable victory. Hey, they can't spoil her introduction by letting you LOSE, can they?

We'll soon have to continue on after parting ways with the Mysterious Girl. Run up the stairs for another very stylish cut-scene. Joker makes a picture-perfect escape and... well, it was fun while it lasted.

In the interrogation room, answer however you wish - you choice here really doesn't matter. After some more "interrogation" you'll be asked to pick a difficulty option. Choose what you wish here, paying attention to the note below...

NOTE: This Walkthrough is written while playing the "Normal" difficulty mode. Additionally, the name Bkstunt will be using for the protagonist is "Akira Kurusu", which is his name from the Japanese Manga. Haeravon opts to go with Ren Amamiya, which is his name in Persona 5: The Animation.

After a bit more... persuasion (answer however you want), you will have to input your name (see the note above for the names we picked, but by all means feel free to pick your own name). After that, a prosecutor (Sae Niijima) will show up and ask us some questions about our "method". Answer how you will as she asks us to recall how we came to learn about "That World"... and how we can steal people's hearts...

APRIL 9TH (SATURDAY 4/9)

A blue butterfly flies past us here now (I am you... You are me...) as a mysterious voice tells us how "unfair" the game is. Yet, if we can hear its voice, we have a chance of winning. It will then beg us to remember the bonds that we have made with our friends... (The blue butterfly you see here is a reference to the diety "Philemon", a guardian of souls who's appeared in multiple Persona games).

After saving, we will wake up with a start, as your protagonist remembers an evebt from the past, the consequences of which put him in his current predicament. After that cut-scene we'll get a few more scenes showing our train ride and a peculiar incident in a public square. An awakening, perhaps?

After that odd bit of business, we'll find ourselves in the subway now, and the first tutorial message will pop up here:

TUTORIAL - HINTS: If you are ever confused about what to do or where to go next, look to the upper right corner of the screen to view various hints.

Hooray, objectives! We'll list these as they pop up, as... well, they're a form of organization that'll help sync up the guide with the game as you play along.

Go ahead and exit the train station (both paths to the east lead to the "Yongen-Jaya Backstreets" area). When you reach the Yongen-Jaya Backstreets, your protagonist will expositionally muse that "Sojiro Sakura" will be taking care of us starting today. Another tutorial message shoots up now:

TUTORIAL - ROTATING THE CAMERA: If you use [the RIGHT ANALOG], you will be able to rotate the camera. If you press [CIRCLE] or [R3], you can bring the camera back to its default position. You can adjust the speed and direction of the camera's rotation in Config. Rotate the camera to look around the city and at the people near you.
TUTORIAL - TALKING TO PEOPLE: All sorts of people live in the city. Try listening to their conversations or press [X] to talk to them. You might learn something new.

time for a trip persona

There's plenty of people to talk to and quite a few places to visit... not that you can really do much at any of them. Still, you're going to be coming and going through this alley for quite a while over the course of the game, so we may as well familiarize ourselve with the area. You can also chat various NPCs up if you want, so... double the reason to explore! Plus we made a pretty map for you to use, and it'd be a shame if you ignored it...

You should start out in the southeastern corner of the map, near one of the two exits to the "Yongen-Jaya Station" (the other exit being to the northeast - note the gray arrows indicating an area transition). If you head down the street opposite of the Yongen-Jaya Station exit you'll reach an intersection. If you turn left you'll spot the Secondhand Store (#6 on the provided map) while if you head down the alley to the right, then take another right you'll find the Laundromat (2), Bathhouse (4) and a Vending Machine (3). Continuing down this alley will take you to another exit to the Yongen-Jaya Station (1) while oposite the alley leading to the Bathhouse is the Old Cafe (7).

Return to the fork at which the Secondhand Shop sits, then continue northwest past another Vending Machine (5), the stairs leading up to the Batting Cages (8) and the Supermarket (10), all of which are to your right. From the Supermarket if you turn left you'll find the Theater (11) and the Takemi Medical Clinic (9). Finally, if you continue to the northwestern edge of the Yongen-Jaya Backstreets area you'll find Sojiro Sakura's House (12). Talk to whichever NPCs you care to, then check out Sojiro Sakura's House.

And... he's not home. Go figure. A "Parcel Deliveryman" will serendipitously drop in to comment on Sojiro's absence and mention that he can usually be found at his cafe around this time. Cafe Leblanc - otherwise known as the "Old Cafe" (7) we saw earlier. Head back to this "Old Cafe" and enter it to continue. After overhearing some dialogue you'll meet Sojiro, who owns and operates this cafe... for what little business it gets.

Respond to Sojiro however you wish and he'll show you to your room while summing up our situation: Probation for a year all for helping someone. No good deed goes unpunished... Pretty messed-up, really. Anyways, your room is spacious enough, if a bit messy and lacking in creature comforts - something you'll have to see to over time, certainly. Sojiro plays the hard-ass, but by his own admission, the leash he's keeping you on is pretty loose. You won't have much time to settle in, however, as it's already the afternoon, and Sojiro has a trip to Shujin Academy planned tomorrow - your new school, seeing as how you were expelled from your previous one. We've all been there before, right? For now, however, we're left with a big, dirty room to clean up and our "luggage".

You can examine multiple things here if you wish, which is worth doing to see all the things you have in this attic. Sofa, desk, reading shelves, bed... good to know for the future, I assure you. Eventually, you want to start cleaning though. None of this stuff is any good to us in this state. Peek at whatever you wish, then examine the "Cardboard Box" to change your clothes, then pick the "Start cleaning" option to make this place more livable.

After a bit of cleaning, time will progress and Sojiro will come to see us off. We get a reminder about time here as well:

TUTORIAL - HOW TO ADVANCE TIME: Going to bed is a special action that will advance time. Time is limited. Think carefully about your schedule before you act.

Sojiro won't let us head outside, so you may as well just go to bed for now. We'll end up having a dream (part of which you'll get to play through) where you'll relive the night your heroics got you a criminal record, after which you'll be bothered by that strange app that infested your phone... a prisoner of our own making. Again, you decisions don't matter here, and when your protagonist finally falls asleep he'll end up in a strange dream realm. Answer these questions with Igor however you please, as this is just our first visit to "The Velvet Room" and is meant to introduce us to this location and its inhabitants.

After the alarm sounds, we will go back to "the real world" and time will advance...

APRIL 10TH (SUNDAY 4/10)

Your second day will start when Sojiro comes to get you for your promised visit to Shujin Academy. Nice hat. Rocking that "just past his prime but not willing to admit it yet" energy. After Sojiro gives you a ride - and another bout of pretending he doesn't care about what happens to you while also begging you not to cause him trouble - you'll meet the Principal and your new teacher, Sadayo Kawakami. THe former also threatens you (they're really driving this "you screw up and your life is over thing, aren't they?) while Kawakami is more neutral, handing you your new student ID and... wait, what was that pink thing? Oh well...

On the way back Sojiro will threaten you some more, after which you'll see a "PE Teacher" talking to Kawakami, who bemoans her fate. Having to teach a delinquent, of all things! We hope she'll be able to get through this trying period in her life. On the ride home you'll hear of another accident - seems to be a lot of those happening, and Sojiro seems awfully sympathetic to the parents whose fifteen-year-old daughter died... you know, considering how hostile he acts towards you. In any event, this news is followed by some cutscenes, one of the aforementioned accident followed by Sae Niijima (the woman who was interrogating Joker at the beginning of the game) and her boss reacting to said accident, as well as an un-named student...

We'll return to Leblanc's in the evening and head upstairs with Sojiro, at which time he'll give us a diary, telling us to write in it before warning us against messing up his store. He'll leave soon and we'll get another tutorial:

TUTORIAL - SAVING: You can save your game by pressing the [OPTIONS BUTTON]. When you see the button command in the lower left, you can save at any time.
NOTE: Saving often and rotating saves between the save slots the game gives you is a fantastic idea. The creed of any true gamer, is it not? You have 16 save slots, so there's no particular need to be stingy...

Instead of going to bed, try to go downstairs and you'll hear a phone ring.

After checking his phone like any proper 21st century teenager, you'll determine it's not your phone ringing.

Head downstairs and answer the yellow pay phone at the far end of the shop's counter to be greeted by... Sojiro. Guess he missed you? Not quite, turns out he just wanted you to flip the sign on the door... but he'll also spare time to tell you he doesn't "save a guy's number in his phone", even if you don't ask why he called the public phone. Okay old man, keep the dream alive. Agree to Sojiro's request, leave out the front door and then re-enter to turn the sign - you can't go anywhere else tonight, anyways, so you're not missing out on anything.

Explore the lower shop now if you wish to get a feel for the place, and then go to bed. We have a long day tomorrow...

APRIL 11TH (MONDAY 4/11)

Time for our first day of school!

Head downstairs and talk to Sojiro. He's made us curry for breakfast. Eat it and thank him, then head out. As Sojiro promised, he's done driving us around, forcing us to navigate the hazards of public transportation. After what happened yesterday, it's not something to take lightly, but truancy isn't an option, either.

Exit Cafe Leblanc and turn left, following the alley northeast to exit to Yongen-Jaya Station. Board the train when you arrive, and during the ride your protagonist will complain about how crowded it is. Note the guy under the text bubble playing on his trust Playstation Vita... an under-appreciated device gone before its time...

When the train arrives, head upstairs. This part is a bit confusing, but no map is needed... yet. You can't go to most of the areas, as your protagonist wisely keeps his wanderlust in check, and yeah, you couldn't go to most of the locations in the Yongen-Jaya Backstreets, but here you can't even reach many areas to see what they are, so we'll leave the pretty maps for later. Ahem. From the two stairs leading down to the Shibuya Subway Platform head west through a turnstile. Shortly beyond the turnstile you can listen in on a "Woman with Camera" questioning a subway official - she's got a portrait an everything, must be important!

Later, later... for now, we need to find the "Ginza Line", so head north, east, then north again up some stairs. Once atop the stairs turn east again and you'll find some stairs to your left leading to the "Station Square" while to your right is the "Underground Mall". No time for shopping go upstairs.

Once outside, listen to some protesters ahead of you if you wish, and when you're done snooping enter the "Teikyu" building to the north. There's also a "Lottery Stand" to the right, but we'll get to that in good time. Once inside the "Teikyu" building, turn left and head up some stairs.

This next area - the "Teikyu Building - Ginza Line Gate" - has some Vending Machines and a Bakery, but you need not worry about either of those just yet. Instead, immediately turn left again and pass through another turnstile just before the bakery. After that just board the train, and instead of the typical train scene you'll witness a scene bacy at Leblanc's.

We'll arrive at the "Aoyama-Itchome Subway Platform" now. Note all of the students - has to be a good sign! Head outside and you'll get a cut-scene, which introduces you to three important characters. After the cutscene you'll end up chatting with the "Vulgar Boy" from the end of the aforementioned cutscene, after which you'll follow him to Shujin. During the trip your attention will be whisked back to the interrogation - respond how you will and you'll be treated to yet another animated scene. That app on your phone finally starts getting up to mischief more than merely infecting your phone, and Shujin Academy is... a bit more medieval than expected.

KAMOSHIDA'S PALACE (4/11)

Enter the "school" and after some chatter your companion will demonstrate he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer. You'll get a chance to save your game, after which you'll find yourself in a prison cell.

After some more chatter you'll find yourself back in control. Examine the cell if you wish, but there's not much here - you can't do much more than talk to the "Vulgar Boy" and examine some barrels, though. Check the barrels, talk to the "Vulgar Boy" and examine the "Wall with Chains" to move things along, at which point you'll be told you're mrerely being charge with "unlawful entry", the penalty for which is... death.

And the king of this castle is apparently some distorted version of Kamoshida??? Weird.

time for a trip persona

Watch the scenes that unfold, after which you'll find yourself in the second battle of the game, and the first somewhat "real" battle. You can use a skill here by pressing [TRIANGLE], and at this point you should have access to the "Eiha" skill, which should nearly kill any enemy struck. Still, you may as well conserve your SP for now and just batter your foes with melee attacks.

These foes stand no chance against you, so waste them both and you'll level up after the fight. We'll get a trophy as well (yay!).

After the fight, King Kamoshida will naturally be angry, and the "Vulgar Boy" will do much to redeem himself. Say what you will and King Kamoshida will find himself locked in his own cell. One problem resolved, now you need to figure out how to get outta here! Fortunately, this is a linear area, so head west to find a door... which turns out to be locked. Next turn right and examine a "Broken Bridge" to jump over it, then go through an open door to the west and turn north until you find another "Broken Bridge" to the left... looks more like a bunch of cages you have to jump across, but let's not argue with the screen.

TUTORIAL - SPECIAL ACTIONS: You can press the X BUTTON at certain locations in a dungeon to perform special actions.

After you get across the canal we can continue on to the south. Cross a bridge (or rather some planks - but still more of a bridge than the last two "Broken Bridges" were) and note some cells to the right which you can search. In the last of the four cells on the right - the only one with an open door - you'll find a tunnel along the southern wall. Crawl through it to reach another cell to the south, exit, then note you have two routes ahead of you - south and east. Go east across the bridge, as you'll just be forced back if you continue south. Once across the bridge turn south and you'll witness a short scene - looks like the guards are still looking for you, and their presence makes it decidedly unsafe to backtrack north.

That being the case, the only way to go is east, up a winding set of stairs, and through a door. Still no exit... but we can confirm we are NOT alone here. Other school members are prisoners too! Head south along the canal until you reach an apparent dead end, at which point an "Unknown Voice" will address you from within one of the cells. Choose whatever dialog options you want (try calling it a cat!) and soon we'll have a guide out of this place. Hey, now is not the time to be picky about allies! We'll also get a cool scene with the real school... where we are undoubtedly in trouble.

Follow Morgana to a statue and talk to the... erm... not cat? Afterwards, interact with the statue it was near to lower the drawbridge. Watch some more scenes and you'll get your third mandatory battle. We have a new enemy here: a "Bedside Brute", which is joined by another "Crypt-dwelling Pyromaniac". Now that you have an ally who can fight, however, the odds are even more slanted in your favor. Attack the "Bedside Brute" and Morgana will give us a battle tip:

TUTORIAL - WEAKNESSES AND "1 MORE": Skills have varying affinities, and each enemy is weak to certain affinities. If you attack an enemy's weakness, you will deal more damage and knock them down. You will be able to take another action after knocking an enemy down. This is called a 1 More. If you then topple another enemy, you will gain another 1 More. This will continue as long as you continue to attack enemy weaknesses.

time for a trip persona

As you can tell, LEARNING ENEMY WEAKNESSES is going to play a HUGE PART in the battle system of Persona 5, so be ready to remember them! Fortunately isn't not mandatory just yet, so finish the enemy off now and you'll level up again. Arsene will gain the "Cleave" skill as well, which is handy.

After the battle, Morgana will talk about personas a bit before goading ol' blondie into FINALLY introducing himself as Ryuji Sakamoto. Morgana will interrupt and gives us [_MEDICINE x3_] to heal ourselves with, which of course prompts another tutorial...

TUTORIAL - MENU: You can check your stats and Personas by pressing [TRIANGLE]. Skills and items can also be used from this menu.

These messages can get annoying, but better to be prepared, especially if this is your first Persona Game. Once you gain control, continue west up some stairs until you reach another bridge. Ryuji will stop us, pointing out a prisoner wearing a rather odd uniform before spazzing out. Ryuji's delaying results in another guard catching up with us, and when you're given the choice pick "Let's fight."

This battle is against two "Beguiling Girl" enemies. They are weak to curse skills, and we're almost out of here, so feel free to use your protagonist's "Eiha" on them - one after the other. This will deal extra damage, knock the enemy down, and grant you a "1 More"... and in case any returning Persona fans were wondering, no, we can't go "All Out"... yet....

Once you're back in control follow Morgana a bit and watch the scenes and read dialog that follows. Freedom is tantalizingly close, and while Morgana won't follow you he does seem interested in us... inasmuch as we're useful, anyways.

SHUJIN ACADEMY (4/11)

Outside, Ryuji will express relief, confusion, and finally anger. This last outburst draws the attention of two "Aggressive Officers". Ryuji's explanation only makes things worse, and after a scene with the police you'll get another scene with the SIU Director... seems like he's up to something.

After all that we'll finally be at school. Not exactly how we expected our first day to go, but... better late than never. At the front door Ryuji will be pestered by a "Counselor", then by a familiar, unwelcome face. Ryuji takes most of the heat from this encounter, fortunately, after which you can answer Kamoshida however you please. After all that you'll finally enter Shujin Academy... only to be drawn away by another interrogation scene with Sae Niijima. Answer her how you wish and you'll get another tutorial... well, more of a notification, really:

TUTORIAL - STORY SUMMARY: The summary of the story up this point has been updated. To read, press [TRIANGLE] to open the menu, then select "Story" from under the "System" option.

Finally you'll find yourself in Shujin Academy. We're tasked with heading to the Faculty Office on the second floor, and since you can't access half of this floor yet, we'll dispense with the map for now and just point out where you need to go. Ahem. Just uh, go up any of the stairs on the western side of the building, and once on the second floor head down a hallway connecting the two halves of the floor and note there are three doors on the northern end of the hall. The middle one is the "Faculty Office".

Inside the Faculty Office you'll meet up with Kawakami, who is understandably disgruntled. Darned kids. Answer her questions however you wish, after which you'll introduce yourself to the class. Seems your reputation has preceded you. We are seated right behind the girl you met earlier as well - the blonde who got a ride with Kamoshida - and boy does she seem upset. Nothing we can do about it now though. Looks like she's got a bit of a reputation, too...

After class your protagonist will have trouble keeping reality seperate from... that castle, and Kawakami will whine about her predicament, whatever you say to her. Just as you're getting warned about Sakamoto, Ryuji will show up and ask us to meet him on the rooftop, and after that you'll see a scene with the Principal and Kamoshida. Amazing how fortunate you are to overhear all this!

Use any of the staircases to reach the third floor, listen to a girl in pink (she's got a face, too - has to be important!) if you wish, then head over to the northern of two flights of stairs to find some stairs leading up to the roof. Once outside you'll talk to Ryuji, who understandably wants to confirm what happened with us at the palace, shed some dirt on Kamoshida, and revel in your mutual status as "troublemakers". Looks like we've got a friend in the making!

Leave the roof and you'll automatically be taken back to Leblanc's, where Sojiro will scold you. After this tongue-lashing, you'll have no choice but to head to bed - no time to do much else. Tonight you'll dream of the Velvet Room again, where Igor will tell us that our powers have awoken and explain what the the "Metaverse Navigator" - the app that's been on our phone for a few days now, even though we've been deleting it over and over - does.

Well, perhaps the word "explain" was a bit too strong.

Oh well, on to the next day...

APRIL 12TH (TUESDAY 4/12)

Most of the trip to school today will be automated, so just read the dialogue and enjoy the new scenes - everything involving the "Student with Ribbon in Hair" is new. Pick whatever options you wish here as we get our first interaction with the new girl. She's too nice to that seat thief...

After another quick chat with the red-head once you get off the train you'll find yourself just outside of Shujin Academy. Enter the school by heading west (note the vending machine to your right!) and you'll automatically find yourself in class, whereupon he'll ask us a question:

Answer correctly for [_KNOWLEDGE +1_] after which Mr. Ushimaru will continue blathering on and you'll get to see your point spread. You've got five attributes: Knowledge, Guts, Proficiency, Kindness and Charm. You'll need to level these attributes up for various reasons - mostly to do with progressing Confidant ranks. What are Confidants? Well... we'll get to that later. Suffice to say, we'll be maxing these abilities out over the course of the game.

After class you'll witness some rumors being peddled around. Seems the school's positively abuzz with all the new students. After this you'll get a scene with Kamoshida and the blonde girl you sit behind - Takamaki. Her lying skills could use some work, and his creepiness... well, he's got that maxed out, it seems. As you leave school, Ryuji will ambush you, intent on exploring the castle further. Agree to help him and you two will try to locate it, without much luck.

After re-tracing our steps a few times, Ryuji will comment on your phone and the app. He'll eventually take it and try it out, summoning the castle onto the school grounds...

KAMOSHIDA'S PALACE (4/12)

Once back at the castle, Ryuji's ruckus will cause Morgana to come investigate, and this time the not-cat explains a bit about the castle/school, and how they're connected through Kamoshida. Your chat will be interrupted by the tortured wails of slaves, which spurs Ryuji into... attacking a wall. Well, his heart's in the right place, even if his head is hollow. Answer how you wish here, but I know I'm chomping at the bit to investigate properly. Agree to accompany Morgana and we'll soon make our way back into the castle, with some objectives:

Once there's a lull in the chatter, follow Morgana north, then east and you'll see a scene. Ryuji is freaking out still, but this is undoubtedly our school. Morgana will lead us onwards automatically...

Head down the stairwell and when you reach the bottom follow the linear path ahead. Subterfuge is no longer possible, so you'll have to resort to violence to make progress from here on out, which is Morgana's cue to teach us:

TUTORIAL - ATTACKING ENEMIES: When you attack a nearby enemy by pressing [the X BUTTON], a battle will begin. Watch for a red icon to appear when you are in range. If you approach the enemy from behind without being noticed, the Ambush icon will appear. Attack at that moment for an edge in battle.

Wait for the enemy's back to be turned, then rush forward, ambush the enemy and destroy it. If you successfully ambush your foe you'll land a pre-emptive strike, giving you a free round to pummel the enemy. Needless to say, you should always strive to ambush enemies, as it can turn tough fights into push-overs.

From the site of your victory, continue south, then cross a bridge to the east to get another scene. Ryuji will continue behaving erratically, and Morgana will introduce us to SAFE ROOMS. We'll end up hiding out here, during which time Morgana explains how desires have manifested this "palace". Ryuji also came... a little bit prepared. Ok, hardly at all, but he gives us a [_TKACHEV_] and some [_MEDICINE_] . Better than nothing, right? Right? C'mon, the bar is super low for Ryuji, so give him some credit when he does good.

TUTORIAL - SAFE ROOMS: In a SAFE ROOM, you can consult with your teammates and save your game by pressing [the OPTIONS BUTTON]. You can also save at the Palace entrance.

Saving is always a good idea, and you've got sixteen slots, so you might as well make a save now, just in case. Afterwards, talk with your party members and exit to get some talk from the guards about the slaves being in the Training Hall. Good to know...

We need to find the slaves. Continue east once you regain control. As you go down some stairs - but before you hit the next enemy - you'll get another tutorial:

TUTORIAL - SECURITY LEVEL: When you're spotted by an enemy, the security level will rise. This is shown on a gauge in the upper left. As the security level rises, it will become more difficult to investigate the Palace, so be careful.
NOTE: Two more tutorials - Security Level Reduction and 0% Security Level can now be found in the tutorial menu. In general, they mention you can lower security levels by letting days pass or by ambushing enemies and that at zero security level you can ambush enemies with greater ease.

Wait for this enemy to face away and take them out. The rest of the area up ahead is a dead end, so use the cell door on the left (north) to continue on to a new area.

Continue on here and soon we'll be held up as we're taught about how to use that gun Ryuji brought along:

time for a trip persona

TUTORIAL - GUN ATTACKS: Gun attacks are considered a "Gun Skill". Press [UP] to ready your gun, then [X] to attack. You can continue shooting until you run out of ammunition. You can also change targets between shots with [RIGHT or LEFT on the D-PAD].
TUTORIAL - GUN PROPERTIES AND AMMO RESTORATION: Guns have a higher attack power than melee weapons, but they have a limited amount of ammunition. However, your ammunition will be restored after the battle, so feel free to use it all up.

After the battle, Morgana will explain Royal's new system for handling guns: essentially perception is reality in these cognitive palaces, and the enemy expects guns to function like the do in reality, hence the limited ammo. On the other hand, new foes expect you to have ammo, which explains away why your ammo replenishes for each fight. Too bad you can just buy some fake clips to "replenish" the fake ammo in your fake guns, but... it's still more generous than in the orignal game, so just go with it.

As if you didn't have enough tutorials, you'll get another wall of tutorials following the business with ranged weapons:

TUTORIAL - PARTY TACTICS: You can chage your party member's actions during battle by assigning tactics to them. You can either set a particular course of action for them to take, or choose to control them directly. You can assign tactics by going to Stats in the [TRIANGLE] menu. You can also change tactics by pressing [L2] on [protagonist]'s turn, then select Tactics under the Order menu.

Following this, Morgana will ask whether you want him to follow orders or act on his own. Given the way he's been burning through SP, we opt to pick the Direct commands response to restrain the little bugger.

Follow the linear path ahead and ambush another enemy near the canal and cross a bridge to the west to spot another guard hiding in a side passage. After you automatically end up engaging, Morgana will prompt you to use your protagonist's Persona's [TRIANGLE] Eiha skill. Do so to knock your foe down, after which Morgana will finally introduce you to "All-Out Attacks". This will end the fight, and prompt a proper tutorial.

TUTORIAL - ALL-OUT ATTACKS: You can initiate an All-Out Attack from a Hold Up by pressing [TRIANGLE]. All-Out Attacks are ultimate attacks which deal heavy damage to all foes. However, you cannot use one if [protagonist] cannot act or if only he can act.

Continue through the door the last enemy was guarding to find the door leading to... Kamoshida's Training Hall of... Love? Oof. Exit to the south to enter this dismal area, replete with screams of tortured souls. Keep going south, cross a bridge and watch a scene, where Ryuji will freak out, as usual, prompting Morgana to explain how the "Slaves" work here as opposed to the real world. The two are connected for sure, but Ryuji's plan to gallantly rescue them is simply not feasible.

What you need to do now is head west and look down into the cells on the left (south) and "examine" the "student slaves" to see what said slaves are being subjected to. Ryuji will spend some time at each cell memorizing faces, as he knows these students. Do that for each area (responses don't matter here) and we'll be told to escape.

time for a trip persona

Head back the way you came and we'll be back in the entrance foyer before long, with much of the escape being done automatically. You will get in a fight with three "Dirty Two-horned Beasts" here and the fight will just go wrong right away. Fear not my friends: we are supposed to lose this fight. Ryuji needed some prodding to help us out after all. Enjoy the scenes as Ryuji awakens with our lives on the line.

We'll be in a "boss battle" now, but it honestly isn't worthy of my boss battle box - this fight is too easy. With Ryuji on our side, use his Zio skill on the Dirty Two-horned Beasts that the Guard Captain summons, as they are weak to Zio. Finish them off with regular attacks, then gang up on the Guard Captain to take him down quickly.

After the fight watch some scenes involving a familiar girl - obviously the target of Kamoshida's obsession - after which you'll make your escape. We live to fight another day and have plenty of ammo against the real world Kamoshida, although telling any authority that you saw humanoid manifestations of Kamoshida's dark deeds in his mind-palace probably won't get you very far. Still, you know how Kamoshida views the world and what at least some of his goals are - there has to be a way to use that against him. After bailing out on an understandably irate Morgana, Ryuji will have a chat with you in the real world, expressing his desire to bring down Kamoshida. After all you've been through together, it's not surprise a bond has started to form between the two of you.

Agree to go out to a meal with Ryuji and you'll share some stories together before swapping phone and chat numbers as well. Your responses here don't matter.. Head home and you'll be treated to more scenes between Ryuji and your protagonist, as well as one between a girl named Shiho and Takamaki. When you get home you'll be given a warm welcome by Sojiro and flooded with texts from Ryuji, and when you finally get to your... attic... you'll notice you have a new objective.

Before you head to bed, you can finally check out your box up here to get your "Persona 5 Save Data Special Gift", which includes [_HOGYOKU APPLE x3_] , some [_BAND-ACE x3_] and a whopping [_50,000 YEN_] . Nice. It pays to have a Persona 5 save file! Don't feel too glum if you don't have it, however - a little extra grinding will make up for missing out on this, trust me.

Persona 5 Royal Legacy DLC Bundle If you go onto the PlayStation Store you can download the Persona 5 Royal Legacy DLC Bundle for FREE. This will add much of the original game's DLC, notably included a variety of Persona. These new Persona range from LV16 to LV90, and they're not bound by the usual level requirements, meaning you can end up running around with a top-tier Persona from the very start of the game. Suffice to say, this will remove all challenge from the game for quite a while just based on the Persona's stats alone (the skills are another matter, as you probably just don't have the SP or HP to use them all the time early on). It should also be noted that while it's free to summon a DLC Persona the first time, subsequent summons will cost yen, as normal. This can set you back tens of thousands of yen (83,225 yen for MESSIAH PICARO), and obviously isn't something you'll be doing regularly. For the sake of providing a guide for people who do not want to sleep-walk through half the game, we'll be ignoring these DLC Persona, ourselves, but we'll be good sports and point out when they can be useful to you. You know, other than from being simply over-powered.

Head to bed now and after fending off some messages from Ryuji (giving him your number was a mistake...) you'll have another dream. Igor will explain a few things to us here, mainly dealing with confidants as well as forming a confidant bond with us as well (which is really handy as we gain some very much needed special abilities).

TUTORIAL - CONFIDANTS: Confidants are people you trust who share a similar goal. You can find these people in places like school or around town. Try forming bonds with people by visiting them multiple times, earning their trust, and proving your value. Once you have formed a bond, you can open the menu with [TRIANGLE] and select Confidant to check the strength of your relationships.
TUTORIAL - CONFIDANT ABILITIES: People you have formed a bond with have special Confidant Abilities. Your Confidant Rank indicates the strength of your trust with someone. As this rank increases, more of their Confidant Abilities will be unlocked. Press [TRIANGLE] to open the menu, and select Confidant. From there you can check each Confidant's arcana, rank, and abilities.

Improving your Confidant Rank with characters and earning their Confidant Abilities will come in very handy in the future, especially Wild Talk. Note that Wild Talk can only be done in Hold Up mode though, something we'll definitely cover in more detail soon enough. Soon we'll finish our sleep and the day will finally be over (this was a really long day!).

APRIL 13TH (WEDNESDAY 4/13)

We'll head out to school automatically and be reminded of the volleyball rally today, courtesy of some whining students ahead of us. This leads to a cut-scene showing a game where Kamoshida sends a spike right into a kid's face. Ugh... I mean, think about watching what's happening, guy?

After that, we'll be talking with Ryuji, who will task us with chattingw ith the volleyball team and identifying Kamoshida's "slaves" in the hopes that one of them will squeal, hence the objective up above. The first one is from class 2D - our class. The game will give us another handy tip here though (you'll like this one):

TUTORIAL - QUICK TRAVEL: You can use quick travel by bringing up the map with [R1] and selecting the location you want to move to.

Head to your classroom by either going up the stairs on the western side of the building or fast traveling to the second floor. Once there, go to the northwestern-most classroom, marked with a fairly obvious "2-D" on the map. Once inside, talk to the player near the chalkboard with the "..." bubble above his head. Alas, he's not much help, so respond to Ryuji by saying Let's split up. and he'll refer you to a studen in the 3C class. Unfortunately this one isn't marked, so just head down to the first floor and seek out some students with a chat symbol above their head between the western staircases. Respond to him however you wish, you won't get anywhere with him, either. Note that you can listen to Ann and Shiho down here as well.

TUTORIAL - CHECKING MESSAGES: You can view the messages you have received by pressing [SQUARE]. An icon will appear on any unread messages. Only the 50 most recent chat threads will be saved. Old chats will be automatically deleted, so don't forget to read them.

You'll get some texts from Ryuji afterwards, informing you about a lead near 1B. Head up to the third floor and talk to a kid with a dialogue bubble "..." over his head. He is much more open, being a freshman and all, and will mention someone named "Mishima" and the "special coaching" that he's been getting. It seems we have another lead!

After some IM's from Ryuji, you'll chat with Ann Takamaki in the courtyard while waiting for Ryuji. When Ryuji shows up, Ann and him will exchange accustations before Ann warns you against messing with Kamoshida.

Not likely...

Before leaving, Ryuji and your protagonist will confront Mishima - the volleyballer who caught a spike to the face courtesy of Kamoshida - but Kamoshida will interrupt before you gain gain anything concrete, and his display of power is... demoralizing. Even worse is Mishima's admission afterwards.

That's it for this day though. Head to bed once you get home, as the game doesn't let us do anything more at this time. You'll have to navigate some texts from Ryuji, of course, and he's not terribly kind to Ann in them. Oh well, nothing for it.

APRIL 14TH (THURSDAY 4/14)

You'll again head to school automatically, your walk this time is taintedy by some girls ogling Kamoshida. Navigate some texts from Ryuji, then watch a scene with Ann and Shiho. Looks like Ann has a bit of a reputation around school, too... kind of like two other misfits... After this you'll chat with Shiho a bit here, but nothing really comes of it.

A chat with Ryuji after school also seems to be going nowhere, until you're forced to eventually respond with Let's punish the king. , which gets Ryuji's rusty gears turning. Before he can come to any epiphanies, however, you'll be interrupted by... Morgana?! In, um, cat form. We're apparently the only ones that can hear him. Enjoy these scenes as he lays out his plan - steal Kamoshida's treasure in his Palace and it will vanish, along with Kamoshida's distorted desires and his memory of anything that happened in said Palace. Forcing him to confess without us being obviously implicated? It sounds too good to be true. Sure enough, a side effect may include a slight case of... death... for Kamoshida, plus we'll have to help out Morgana...

Once outside of school, endure some more texts from Ryuji, then snoop on your gossiping schoolmates before leading this area for the Aoyama-Itchome Station. Ride the train back to the Teikyu Building and exit by heading down some stairs to the Station Square. When you arrive you'll run into Ann - pick whatever choice you wish here and she'll run off. It's a bit creepy, but we have to go after her...

Follow her down into the "Underground Walkway", go down some stairs to the south, then turn west to find Ann standing in front of a green pillar. Talk to her and say Let's go somewhere safe. , after which you'll end up talking to Takamaki, who exposes the sinister game Kamoshida is playing. After you're done talking (or rather, grunting at Ann) you'll see a scene between Mishima and Shiho. Following that you'll find yourself back at home, where Sojiro will scold you, as is his custom. Speaking of annoying customs, you'll get some more late-night texts from Ryuji, after which it'll finally be time to go to sleep.

APRIL 15TH (FRIDAY 4/15)

As usual, your walk to school will be spent overhearing girls gossip, and the dullness of political lecture in class is broken up by Morgana attempting to cajole you into following his plan. After the never-ending interruptions by Ryuji, some drama outside will draw the class's attention. Watch the scenes that follow, and... well, that's some pretty strong motivation for stopping Kamoshida's abuse, whatever the risks.

As Ryuji says, you'll need to make your way to the courtyard. Unfortunately the gaggle of students standing in the way won't make it easy. Head down to the first floor, then work your way around the building counter-clockwise, going south, east, then north. You'll see some scenes here and Ann will go along with Shiho, leaving Ryuji and your protagonist to chase down a suspicious Mishima. After scaring some information out of Mishami, Ryuji will run off again. Energetic kid, eh?

Here we just have to follow Ryuji up to the second floor and to the end of the hallway to the north, where we'll confront Kamoshida. As you can imagine, this doesn't go particularly well. Expelled? Probably not the best thing for our probation...

Well, we're out of options and have nothing to lose - time for a change of heart!

After some chatter we'll eventually end up going back to the castle, but this time Ann follows us. Watch the scenes as she glimpses part of Kamoshida's world and soon we'll kick her out. Hmph. I would have taken her along. Oh well... after assigning code names - Joker, Skull and Mona - we'll finally get control, just in time for another tutorial:

TUTORIAL - DASHING: If you hold [R2] while moving, you will be able to dash. This will help you traverse a Palace quickly, but be careful - while dashing, you will be more easily spotted by enemies.

KAMOSHIDA'S PALACE (4/15)

After that, it's up to us to act like proper Phantom Thieves, as we get a new objective. It's about time, right?!

Head north, then west to return to the familiar infiltration point and to get inside. Once inside, exit to the hallway to the north and then go right (east), where, after a scene, Ryuji will ask that all-important question: why can't we just beat Kamoshida up here? Morgana has plenty of good, obvious reasons, but he could have stopped at "it's suicide", but suffice to say, beating up Kamoshida on its own won't do any good. Bah, always so complicated...

time for a trip persona

Go through a doorway to the north. Here Morgana will tell us the other good thing about Holding Up enemies: negotiating with them! To facilitate this tuturial, use your gun to shoot the Pixie, after which you'll automatically put it in a Hold Up. Once the talk prompts occur choose whichever you wish. You can normally get these items, but not this time. Instead, say "You chose the wrong enemy" once you can and you'll end up gaining Pixie as a Persona. Something Morgana was not expecting.

You're ultimately interrupted by another guard showing up and attacking, prompting yet another tutorial at the start of the next battle:

TUTORIAL - CHANGING PERSONAS: [Protagonist]'s potential allows him to hold multiple Personas. As such, you can freely change which Persona you have summoned. When you change your Persona, your stats, attribute affinities, and available skills will change to match the Persona you select. While in the Persona menu, press [R1] or [L1] to change Personas. Outside battle, press [TRIANGLE], then select Persona to change. You may normally change Personas whenever you'd like, but during battle you can only change Personas once per turn.

Once in combat you'll be prompted to try out your new power, so press [TRIANGLE] to bring up the Persona menu, then press [L1] or [R1] to select your new Pixie Persona. Use Pixie's Zio skill to knock down both "Dirty Two-Horned Beasts" to trigger another Hold Up. Once both are held up, talk to one of them and you can try to score items, money, or better yet, pick Lend me your power to enter negotiations with the shadows. To do this you'll have to answer questions in a manner the shadows find satisfactory, and you'll notice if you look at the top left of the screen that each monster type has a different mood, which determines what responses it likes. For the answers to these questions, check out our [_Persona Recruiting Guide_] .

If you're able to snag another Persona here (Pixie doesn't count, apparently) you'll get the trophy I Am Thou . Very nice!

After a bit more chatter, you'll also get a tutorial on Shadow Negotiations:

TUTORIAL - SHADOW NEGOTIATION: During a Hold Up, you can negotiate with any enemy Shadow. A successful negotiation may even earn you a new Persona. If your enemy is a Persona that you already have, a mask will appear beside its name. If you ask it, "Lend me your power", it will grant EXP to your own Persona, even if it's not currently equipped. Decide whether to defeat your foes quickly with All-Out Attacks and earn experience, or negotiate with them to obtain a Person or other reward.

Now that those fights are done, go through a doorway to the west to reach another hallway, where you will see a gate to the west. Ignore it and go through a door to the north to reach a bigger room with three enemies patrolling about. Take each of them out via ambush and use the pillars here to hide behind.

NOTE: This is the area to battle foes in and fill out your Persona list. I would recommend getting all the Persona's above, but at the very least you should go after Jack-o-Lantern for the AGI (fire elemental) ability which will be helpful coming up. You can leave back the way you came and return to force the three enemies to spawn again, which is very useful for a bit of grinding or making sure you recruit all the persona's you can. Once you make progress you'd rather keep, you can exit to the front of the palace via the way you entered and save your game. You'll do yourself a huge favor if you grind until you have several thousand yen - 4,000 at the abosolute minimum, but obtaining more will absolutely not hurt one bit. Just make sure not to expend all your HP/SP, as you still have a fight to win later on.

After killing all three enemies, be sure to nab the chest in the room which has a [_SILVER DAGGER_] . Be sure to equip it to Akira, as it is a nice damage upgrade.

NOTE: If you get ambushed you'll get the tutorial message below. I, um... totally got this on purpose... You know, for the guide. Yeah...
TUTORIAL - SURROUNDED BY ENEMIES: If an enemy takes your party be surprise, you may find yourself at a disadvantage at the start of battle. In this situation, not only will the enemy gain a preemptive attack, but you will also be unable to escape from battle.

Defeat the shadows, get the loot, then exit out the door to the northwest and continue north to find a SAFE ROOM, where you'll see some more scenes with Ann. A suspicious app, a carelessly spoken phrase and just like that this has become a rescue mission.

Leave the SAFE ROOM and go back the way we came, through the room with three shadows (if they've respawned, kill them) then continue through the southeastern exit into the hall beyond, where the gat e to the west is now open. Head west down this new hallway and make sure you are healed up before going through the door at the end.

time for a trip persona

Enjoy the scenes here and we'll soon have another teammate on our hands! I knew she should have come with us! We'll have another Guard Captain MINI BOSS on our hands as well, but like the last one it is really not worth a proper boss box. This foe is weak to AGI (fire), which Ann just happens to have access to thanks to her Persona, Carmen. Between her and you, if you picked up the "Jack-o-Lantern Persona" like the note above mentioned, you can knock down this boss twice per round, which is nearly fatal to him. A very easy fight.

Once the Guard Captain is beaten you'll get more dialog with Ann, after which you'll end up fleeing the dungeon automatically. After some chatter, Ann will officially join the cause, earning you a new confidant...

The fledgling group will then exchange numbers and chat IDs (man, this is probably a bad idea - just look at how Ryuji abuses it!) and set the location of their HQ as... the roof of the school. Lots of reasons why that seems like a bad idea, but... kids will be kids. You'll also be informed that Morgana will be living with you from now on. Not sure how Sojiro is going to react to that, but you apparently don't have a say in the matter.

We'll go home next. Talk to the "Punk-Rock Woman" sitting in the cafe if you wish and head up to the attic once you are able. Shortly afterwards you'll find yourself chatting with Sojiro, who will mention who his customer was, and once you're upstairs Morgana's meowing will... well, shouldn't have let the cat out of the bag. Literally! Fortunately Sojiro's got a soft spot for animals... heh...

On the plus side, Morgana will offer to help us out in exchange for taking care of him, which all leads to another confidant for our ever-growing list of allies.

Well... that's about it for today. You can examine things for commentary from Morgana, but we need to go to bed to advance, so go ahead and do so now to continue to the next day...

APRIL 16TH (SATURDAY 4/16)

For some reason, we have school today. Weird. We can't dodge chalk either it seems. After school we'll meet at the "hideout" and discuss preparations before we infiltrate Kamoshida's Palace again. Ryuji is in charge of weapons, while we'll look into medicine from that punk-rock doctor we met at Leblanc...

NOTE: Dodging chalk thrown at you is a matter of both luck (RNG) and your PROFICIENCY score. We're told it's possible to save scum this, but at this point in time, it's really not worth the bother.

Once you have control, we will need to visit the Takemi Medical Clinic (9). Morgana will stop us from visiting anywhere else, so go ahead and proceed to the clinic for now - it's at the southern-most part of the Yongen-Jaya Backstreets area, just across the street from the movie theater. Choose whatever answers you wish as you talk to Morgana and the doctor (now called "Languid Doctor") and soon we'll get our first shop menu...

NOTE: If you've grinded a bit, feel free to buy something, but in general you just want to save your money here. Nothing is "Must have", but the Revivadrin would be nice...

Getting the feeling she's not the most ethical doctor out there... Which is exactly what we need! Hey, if fake guns end up working like they're supposed to in Palaces, maybe dubious medicine will, too? Anyways, after you're done looking at her wares you'll learn her name is Tae Takemi, and she's being hasseled by some man. Interesting...

We'll head home next and get a message from Ryuji about visiting Shibuya, although Ann won't be going with us. Oh well. You may as well go to bed, as Morgana won't let us do anything else. Time marches on again...

APRIL 17TH (SUNDAY 4/17)

Hey, a week has passed!

You'll start out the day by meeting Ryuji at the Station Square area. No work on your part is needed at this point, but you'll have to navigate to Central Street on your own.

Make your way east, then south, stopping to hear a politician complaining about the state of affairs as you go. When you arrive at Central Street there's not much to do besides follow Ryuji to a shop down an alley - the Airsoft Shop. Don't worry about the rest of the shops here, you'll get around to them another day. Talk to the "Surly Manager" for tons of dialog and to access the shop, which consists of multiple categories of equipment, including melee weapons, ranged weapons, armor and accessories.

TUTORIAL - TYPES OF EQUIPMENT: You can purchase model guns (ranged weapons), melee weapons, protectors, and accessories at the Airsoft Shop. Melee weapons will increase the power of your normal attacks, which may be useful for those who want to defeat enemies without using skills. Ranged weapons increase the power of your gun attacks. These deal more damage than melee weapons, so they may be more useful against tough enemies. Protectors decrease the damage you take - vital to lasting longer in battle. Accessories have a variety of effects, such as providing skills and protection against status ailments.
NOTE: We didn't end up buying anything here and just saved our money. If you've grinded a bit on your last visit to the Palace, feel free to buy an item, preferably a cheap one to make sure you can buy some choice items during an upcoming shopping trip. You'll need to have around 9,000 yen set aside for shopping, so try not to spend more than that.

Exit the store once you're ready to go and we'll make our way back to Leblanc - then our beloved attic - automatically. Clean up the desk like Morgana asks and he'll teach us how to make infiltration tools, which pops a tutorial:

TUTORIAL - MAKING INFILTRATION TOOLS: With the necessary materials, you can make various infiltration tools. They will be quite useful during Palace exploration - make sure to bring some along. Making tools will cause time to pass, but it will improve your Proficiency as well. Each time this ranks up, you can make one additional tool. During bad weather, your focus will allow you to make an additional tool. Check out all the shops to track down various crafting materials.

time for a trip persona

You should end up creating a single [_LOCKPICK_] from this, earning two two musical notes indicating the proficiency points you've gained, in which case should be [_PROFICIENCY +2_] . You've gained some stat points before, but now seems like a good time to provide a bit of detail about how this works. Various actions will increase your stats to varying degrees, and while answering the question in class earlier and crafting a Lockpick for this tutorial section was fairly static, there will be a lot more RNG involved going foward. We'll let you know what you should do, when you should do it, and any other variables that might help you maximize your stat gains as you follow this guide. Some activities are best done at certain times, during certain weather, some require preparation to take advantage of unforeseen circumstances, and some are just a matter of RNG and require save/loading to get the most from.

The number of musical notes that appear when you complete an action that boosts a stat (or stats) roughly correlates to the actual stat points gained, but you seem to gain more points than are represented by the actual notes. Still, the notes are the visual representation you get, and even though it's only a rough approximation, it's what we'll keep track of in the guide, to prevent any confusion going forward. So, just to clarify, if we mention stat +1, +2 or +3 in the guide, we're referring to the number of notes you should see on the screen, not necessarily the actual number of point earned.

NOTE: Stat points are retained between playthrough, so worst case scenario, follow the guide as best you can - anything you fail to achieve the first time around will be a breeze on New Game+. Not that this should even be your worst-case scenario, as there's more than enough time to max all your stats and confidant ranks even without perfectly optimal use of your time.

With your first meager infiltration tools crafted, go to bed now and sleep until the next day.

Persona 3 Reload: Shuffle Time Guide

Quick links, what is shuffle time, how to get shuffle time, major arcana cards & arcana burst.

Persona 3 Reload keeps a lot of the mechanics from the original game with a few changes, such as Shuffle Time. Shuffle Time is the main way players will be obtaining new Personas and finding skill cards, among other bonuses to help them get stronger.

Persona 3 Reload: 10 Tips To Survive Tartarus

Shuffle Time can also increase the rewards players are already getting from battle, not making it mandatory but a very useful benefit to get. With Shuffle Times being so handy, players will also want to know how to make them happen more often.

Updated by Matthew Schomer on March 1, 2024 : This guide has been updated to include a video version (featured above.)

Platform(s) Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, PS5, PC

Released February 2, 2024

Shuffle Time will happen randomly at the end of battle. Various cards will appear on the screen, and the player will be able to choose which reward they want. Only one card can be selected for each Shuffle Time, and each Shuffle Time will have a random chance of which cards spawn and how many there are to choose from. The most recurring cards are:

  • Coin : earn money from that battle.
  • Wand : increase the amount of XP earned from that battle.
  • Cup: restores HP/SP from either the main character and/or party.
  • Sword: gives a skill card.
  • Persona: gives the player that Persona or XP for that Persona if they already have it.

The cards from Shuffle Time are also determined by the level of enemies defeated. As players progress through Tartarus, they will begin seeing upgraded versions of each card. Depending on the number of objects that appear on the card, the higher the results of the bonus, such as more money being rewarded by a card that has multiple coins.

Shuffle Time will happen randomly when players defeat all enemies in combat. The chances of Shuffle Time happening will increase as players hit the enemies weaknesses or do an All-Out Attack. While not guaranteed, ending a battle on an All-Out Attack will greatly increase the chances of getting a Shuffle Time. Hitting weaknesses will increase the chances for Shuffle Time, but it is less reliable than an All-Out Attack. It is possible to get a Shuffle Time when not hitting any weaknesses, but the chances are much lower.

Persona 3 Reload: 10 Tips & Tricks For Beginners

Some Shuffle Times will have the chance to spawn Major Arcana cards, such as the Magician or Priestess. Selecting one of these cards will offer a bonus effect for the remainder of that trip to Tartarus, such as increasing XP for every battle. Along the bottom left of the Shuffle Time screen will be slots for Major Arcana cards. Filling each slot will continue to give players those effects while also giving them an Arcana Burst.

As players complete major boss fights in the story, new Major Arcana cards can be unlocked and will begin to spawn in future Shuffle Times. As more Major Arcana cards are unlocked, more will needed to get an Arcana Burst .

An Arcana Burst will have all cards during Shuffle Time will be a higher rank for the remainder of that trip to Tartarus. All of these bonuses will add up, making selecting Major Acana cards always the best choice for those looking to stay in Tartarus for a while. While long trips to Tartarus can be draining, Twilight Fragments can be used to restore HP and SP when needed to further utilize these bonus perks.
