Groundbreaking composer and pianist Ludovico Einaudi has announced his first new solo piano album in 20 years, ‘Underwater’, and a UK tour in 2022.

Ludovico Einaudi, the most-streamed classical artist of all time, has announced he will release Underwater , his first new solo piano album in 20 years, on 21 January 2022 and a UK tour in March 2022. Einaudi has wanted to write a solo piano album for several years but needed the right environment to be able to fully commit to the project. Lockdown gave him this rare opportunity. He embraced the isolation from his normal busy schedule and wrote 12 new solo piano tracks showcasing his distinctive musical style, which is recognised throughout the world, for his new album Underwater .

“It came naturally, more than ever before”

Ludovico Einaudi’s new album Underwater is a manifesto for life and a statement for the time when the world around him was quiet and still during the pandemic. He explained, “It came naturally, more than ever before. I felt a sense of freedom to abandon myself and let the music flow differently. I didn’t have a filter between me and what came out of the piano; it felt very pure. The title Underwater is a metaphor – it is an expression of a very fluid dimension, without interference from outside.”

Underwater follows a remarkable year for Ludovico Einaudi with the release of soundtracks to Oscar, BAFTA, and Golden Globe-winning films Nomadland and The Father (which include tracks from his chart-topping 2019 release Seven Days Walking ), and the compilation album Cinema , featuring his greatest works for film and television.

Experience: The Ludovico Einaudi Story , a new podcast mini-series, was also launched in 2021 starring celebrated filmmakers including multiple award-winning actor and director Russell Crowe (Gladiator), Oscar-winning director Chloe Zhao ( Nomadland ), BAFTA-winning director and screenwriter Shane Meadows ( This is England ), Academy Award winner Florian Zeller ( The Father ), and multiple award-winning director Eric Toledano ( The Intouchables ). The series explores what it is that makes Einaudi’s soothing minimalist compositions so perfect for these challenging times.

London – Eventim Hammersmith Apollo (Band Performance) – 21, 22 & 23 March Manchester – 02 Apollo (Band Performance) – 24 March London – Alexandra Palace Theatre (Solo Performance) -26 & 27 March

The world-renowned composer will perform in Birmingham, Leeds and Liverpool this October

Composer and pianist Ludovico Einaudi has confirmed three UK arena shows for autumn this year. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Thursday 27 April.

The 'Una Mattina' artist will headline the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham on Wednesday 18 October before taking over the First Direct Arena in Leeds on Saturday 21. The tour will wrap up at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool the following day.

He's also got previously-announced shows at Glasgow's OVO Hydro and the 3Arena in Dublin lined up on Thursday 4 and Friday 5 May. Before the end of the year, he'll complete a 9-date run at the Teatro Dal Verme in Milan.

His new album Undiscovered 2 is set to be released on Friday 2 June and will feature his latest single 'Bella Notte' which arrived earlier this month.The record will follow Sounds Of Calm which was released last month.

The most-streamed classical artist of all time, Ludovico Einaudi returned last year with his first new solo piano album in 20 years, ‘Underwater’, a collection of 12 newly-composed solo piano tracks.

The release of ‘Underwater’ followed some astounding achievements for Einaudi with the release of soundtracks to Oscar, BAFTA, and Golden Globe-winning films Nomadland and The Father (which include tracks from his chart-topping 2019 release ‘Seven Days Walking’), and the compilation album ‘Cinema’, featuring his composition achievements in film and TV.

Einaudi has quietly become one of the most successful musicians in the world. His hauntingly beautiful and evocative music tops the classical charts worldwide, particularly here in the UK and in his home country Italy. He has performed to huge crowds at the world’s most prestigious venues; in 2022 alone he sold out three nights at Eventim Apollo followed by three nights at the Royal Albert Hall.
