Who Needs a Norway Tourist visa?

The answer to this key question depends on your nationality. Before we explain, you should know that Norway is a member of the Schengen Area. The rules implemented in this area also apply in Norway. A few countries are exempt from Norway’s short-stay visa. So it is with the tourist visa. The EU, EEA, and all 26 members of the Schengen Area are free of it. The nationals of these countries can enter Norway with just a passport. They have the authorization to stay for up to 90 days. To stay longer, they need a different visa. It must be appropriate for the purpose of their visit.

Apart from the mentioned unions, there are also other countries free of Norway tourist visas.

By a single entry, you could enter Norway (or Schengen Area) and stay for 90 days and then leave it. After six months, you could come back again. You could also enter and leave Norway twice if your visa is a double entry. If the visa is multiple entries, you can enter and leave as many times as you want. However, you can not stay for longer than 90 days in a six month. If the duration of your stay is over 90 days in 180 days, you may not enter. The validity of a multiple-entry Schengen visa is often five years.

Can I Visit Other Schengen Countries with a Norway Tourist visa?

Norway is part of the Schengen Area, a zone that consists of 26 countries. All the states in the Schengen Area got rid of the strict border controls in favor of a freer policy on internal immigration. This benefit is extended to Schengen visitors, as well. Citizens of countries that are not part of the Schengen Area can reside within its member countries for a short time by acquiring a Schengen visa.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you tell me a brief explanation about unified schengen visa.

The Unified Schengen Visa or USV is a document that allows nationals of non-Schengen countries to transit through the International Zone on the airport or to enter and stay in one of the Schengen states like Norway for a short period of time.

The USV allows the holder to enter any of the Schengen states, but they must first enter the country that they have indicated in their application. For example, if you have applied for a Norway Schengen visa, the country that you need to enter first before entering any other country of the Schengen Zone should be Norway.

How many types of Uniform Schengen visas are there?

Norwegian Uniform Schengen visas are divided into two main categories, Category A and Category C, mainly based on the purpose of travel. Category A is purely for airport transit. This allows the traveler access to the international Airport Zone of the host Schengen country. The plane he should board on his transit should be going outside of the Schengen Zone . Category C permits the holder to enter and stay in the host Schengen country for a limited time only. This is basically intended for a short-stay or visit.

How long can I use the USV?

The validity of the USV varies with the number of entries they are valid for. Single-entry can be used once and will automatically be invalidated after the holder’s exit from the Schengen Area. Double-entry visas permit the holder to enter the Schengen Zone once back after the first exit. These two variants allow the holder to stay up to 3 months within any six-month period and are usually valid for 6 months up to 1 year. Multiple-entry visas or MEVs basically have no limits on the number of entries . The validity period of MEVs are 1 year, 3 years, and 5 years. Like the limited entry variants, the MEV is also subject to the 90/180 days rule.

Bear in mind that you can only apply and obtain a 5-year MEV if you have been previously granted a 1 year and 3-year MEVs .

How long should I wait for the Schengen Visa?

The Norway Schengen visa processing time varies in every case. There are instances where the applicant got his visa within two weeks of application. Others got theirs in 30 calendar days or, in more extreme cases, in 60 calendar days.

  • You must now proceed to book an appointment for the application submission at a VAC.

  • You will also have to submit your biometrics at the VAC as well.

Please note that if you have submitted your biometrics for a Schengen visa in the past 59 months, you do not have to submit them again. For example, if you have possessed a Schengen, UK, US, Australia, or Canadian visas in the past, the embassy will take less time in processing your application. Normally, it takes around 15 working days to process the application. However, in certain cases, it may take 30 working days, and in extreme cases, this can even take up to 60 days. As a result, it is suggested that you apply for it well in advance of the date of travel.

The total fees for the process include the application fees, the biometric charges, as well as any other service charges levied by the VAC. the application fees can also vary upon the foreign currency rates. As a result, you must check the exact amount before starting the application.

Once you have submitted the visitor application successfully, it will be forwarded to the embassy for processing. Even though you have submitted the application at a VAC, the processing is totally done by the embassy only. The VAC has no influence whatsoever in this. If your permit is approved, you can collect it directly from the VAC, or have them deliver it to you for an extra delivery charge. Note that you should not buy the tickets until you get the visa.

You can check the status of your application by visiting https://www.vfsvisaonline.com/Global-Passporttracking/Track and entering your application reference number and date of birth. You can also check your status by contacting your travel agency and have them track it for you.

Once you have been approved the visa, and you have received it, you must keep in mind the following key points to ensure that you have a pleasant stay.

  • Be aware of the expiry date, duration of stay, as well as the number of entries mentioned on the visa sticker. Your journey must be in accordance with these.
  • Carry all the travel documents before travelling. If you do not possess them, you will be denied entry.
  • Ensure that you travel to Norway within 6 months of the issue date, or as mentioned in the visa sticker. After this date, your permit will become invalid and you will not be able to enter the country.
  • While you are travelling within the country, carry a copy of your travel documents with you.
  • While you are on a visitor permit, you cannot work on a payroll of a Norwegian company or establishment. You may, however, take part in unpaid volunteer or charity work.
  • You will not be able to extend the visitor visa under any normal conditions.
  • You can move within the Schengen zone with this permit. And depending on your entry type, you may enter the Schengen as many numbers of times as allowed.

Understanding the Processing Time for Australian Tourist Visas

Australia, known for its stunning landscapes, unique wildlife, and vibrant cities, is a top tourist destination. To facilitate your journey, understanding the processing time for Australian tourist visas is crucial. This guide will delve into the specifics of the Subclass 600 Visitor Visa, Electronic Travel Authority (ETA), and the available express and priority processing options. We'll also explain what to expect in a visa grant notice.

Whether you're dreaming of Sydney's iconic Opera House or the serene beauty of the Outback, a clear grasp of the visa process, including the anticipation of your visa grant notice, is your first step towards an unforgettable Australian adventure.

Introduction to Australian Tourist Visas

An Australia tourist visa is essential for anyone planning to visit Australia for tourism, visiting family or friends, or for short-term non-work purposes. The most common types are the Subclass 600 Visitor Visa and the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA). Each has its own requirements, processing times, and conditions.

The Subclass 600 Visa caters to tourists, business visitors, and family visits, offering various streams with differing processing times. For expedited travel, express and priority processing options are available. Upon approval, a visa grant notice is issued, detailing the visa conditions. The ETA, meanwhile, offers a swift electronic authorization for short-term visits, ideal for eligible passport holders planning brief stays in Australia.

Subclass 600 Visitor Visa

The Subclass 600 Visitor Visa is designed for those who wish to visit Australia for tourism, business visitor activities, or to visit family. It has several streams: Tourist, Business Visitor, Sponsored Family, and Approved Destination Status.

The processing time for this visa can vary, influenced by application volume and individual circumstances. For expedited processing, applicants may consider express and priority processing options. Upon approval, the visa grant notice details the conditions and validity of the stay. Applicants need to provide accurate information and apply well in advance, ensuring a smooth entry into Australia's breathtaking landscapes and bustling cities.

Processing Times for Subclass 600 Visitor Visa

Processing times for the Subclass 600 Visitor Visa vary depending on the stream:

Tourist Stream:

Processing can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months. It's affected by factors like the volume of applications, seasonal peaks, and individual circumstances.

Business Visitor Stream:

This typically has a faster processing time than the Tourist Stream.

Sponsored Family Stream:

This can take longer due to additional checks and balances.

Approved Destination Status Stream:

Aimed at citizens from certain areas of China visiting in tour groups, this stream generally has a quick processing time.

Electronic Travel Authority (ETA)

The ETA (subclass 601) is an electronically stored authority for short-term visits to Australia. It's available to passport holders from certain countries and is often processed quickly, typically within 24 hours. An ETA, distinct from the more comprehensive Subclass 600 Visitor Visa, allows multiple entries for stays up to three months each within 12 months. It's ideal for tourism or short business visits. Applicants must apply online, ensuring a hassle-free process. However, it’s advisable to apply in advance to accommodate any processing delays, ensuring a smooth Australian travel experience.

Express and Priority Processing Options

For those needing to travel urgently, express and priority processing options are available. Express and priority processing options significantly expedite the application process for Australian tourist visas, including the Subclass 600 Visitor Visa and the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA). Designed for travelers needing urgent travel to Australia, these options involve additional fees but provide a faster turnaround in visa processing. While express processing is generally available for most visa types, priority processing is typically reserved for cases with compelling or compassionate reasons. Applicants should note that availability and eligibility for these services can vary and are at the discretion of the Australian Department of Home Affairs. Not all visa types are eligible for these services, and their availability can change based on the Australian Department of Home Affairs' discretion. Hence it is advisable to check current guidelines and eligibility criteria before applying.

Using Express and Priority Services

Express processing: .

This is usually available for the Subclass 600 Visitor Visa and can significantly reduce the processing time.

Priority Processing:

Often reserved for compelling or compassionate cases, priority processing requires substantial evidence to justify the urgency.

Visa Grant Notice

Once your Australian tourist visa application is processed, you will receive a visa grant notice. This important document contains details about your visa, including:

1. Visa Grant Number:

Essential for reference and for entering Australia.

2. Visa Conditions:

Includes the length of stay, entry requirements, and other conditions.

3. Validity Period:

Indicates how long the visa is valid for.

It's crucial to review the visa grant notice carefully to ensure that all details are correct and that you understand the conditions of your visa.

Tips for a Smooth Visa Application Process

  • Apply Early : To avoid any unforeseen delays, apply well in advance of your planned travel date.
  • Provide Accurate Information : Ensure all information and documents provided are accurate and complete.
  • Understand the Requirements : Be clear about the requirements of the Subclass 600 Visitor Visa or the ETA, whichever you are applying for.
  • Consider Express Options : If time is of the essence, consider using express and priority processing options.
  • Check Your Visa Grant Notice : Once received, thoroughly check your visa grant notice for any discrepancies.

Understanding the processing time for Australian tourist visas, including the Subclass 600 Visitor Visa and the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA), is crucial for planning your trip to Australia. By preparing your application correctly and considering express and priority processing options if needed, you can ensure a smoother journey to experiencing the wonders of Australia.

Remember, the key to a successful application lies in careful preparation and adherence to the guidelines provided by the Australian Department of Home Affairs. Bon Voyage!
