UAE/Dubai tourist visa: Requirements and application procedure

Updated: September 6, 2023

UAE or Dubai Tourist Visa Image

Over 70 nationalities do not require a UAE or Dubai tourist visa to enter the UAE or Dubai. Rest must obtain a prearranged UAE tourist visa through a UAE-based sponsor.

A UAE tourist visa can only be applied for through a sponsor. Any UAE-based airline, hotel, company, Emirate national or UAE resident can sponsor your UAE tourist visa.

Thankfully, all UAE or Dubai tourist visas are e-visas. You can apply online and receive the e-visa in the email.

Indian nationals with a valid US visa or a residence permit from the US, UK or EU can get a Visa on Arrival at all international airports.

VISA ON ARRIVAL Eligible Nationalities

14-day entry.

* Must hold a valid visa from the US or a residence permit from the US, UK or any EU country.

VISA REQUIRED Nationalities

30-day to 90-day entry depending on the visa.

UAE VISA EXEMPTION

UAE immigration refers to VISA-EXEMPTION as VISA ON ARRIVAL. But you will not fill out any forms, pay any fee or receive any visa sticker or print. When you arrive at the airport, you will head straight to the immigration and present your passport. You will be stamped and given entry. Therefore, in my opinion, it’s a VISA EXEMPTION and hence we will refer to it as a VISA EXEMPTION.

Entry permission

30 to 180 days depending on the nationality.

Documents to carry

All you need is your passport.

UAE or DUBAI VISA ON ARRIVAL

UAE or Dubai Visa on Arrival - Fee Receipt

UAE Visa on Arrival is available for Indian passport holders with a valid visa from the US or a residence permit from the US, UK or any EU country.

Who is eligible for UAE Visa on Arrival

Only INDIAN passport holders with a valid US visa , US green card or residence permit from the UK or any EU country are eligible to obtain UAE Visa on Arrival.

Validity of UAE Visa on Arrival

UAE Visa on Arrival is valid for 14 days. It’s possible to extend it once for another 14 days.

How long can you stay in UAE with Visa on Arrival?

You can stay up to 14 days in the UAE with your Visa on Arrival. You can extend your visa for another 14 days at any AMER center in UAE. In that case, you can stay a total of 28 days in the UAE.

Documents required

You need the following documentation to obtain a UAE Visa on Arrival.

  • Original passport
  • Your boarding pass
  • A credit/debit card to pay the fee (you can also pay in cash in AED or USD in Dubai or Sharjah airports)
  • Completed application form (only needed in Sharjah airport and they will provide you with one)

Visa on Arrival fee varies from 105-140 AED depending on the airport.

Processing time

Since it’s only Indian passport holders with a US visa, US green card or a residence permit from the UK or EU country, there will not be many in the line. So the Visa on Arrival process wouldn’t take more than a few minutes.

Obtaining Visa on Arrival at the airports in UAE

UAE Visa on Arrival for Indian passport holders is outsourced to certain travel agencies.

If arriving at Sharjah airport, you must stop by the Sharjah Airport Travel Agency (SATA) desk to fill out the form, get your documents verified and pay the visa fee.

If arriving at Dubai airport, you must stop by the Marhaba Services desk to get your documents verified and pay the visa fee.

If arriving at Abu Dhabi airport, you must head straight to the immigration check. The immigration officer will verify your passport, and visa/residence permit and accept the visa fee payment.

UAE or DUBAI TOURIST VISA

A UAE or Dubai tourist visa can only be applied through a UAE-based sponsor or an authorized agent. A sponsor can be a UAE-based airline, UAE-based hotel, UAE national or resident, UAE-based company or government entity or a UAE-based tour operator.

The sponsor is responsible for your actions in the UAE. If you overstay your visa, the sponsor is held responsible and will face consequences by the government of UAE.

Why do you need a sponsor for a UAE tourist visa?

A UAE-based sponsor is mandatory for all UAE tourist visas. Your sponsor is responsible for all your actions while you are in the UAE. They must make sure you leave the country in time without overstaying your visa. If you don’t know anyone personally in the UAE, you can use either your airline, hotel or tour agent for your visa processing.

It’s silly to still use sponsors in this day and age. The sponsor model is an old model and many countries are moving away from such ways of visa processing. But countries such as UAE, Singapore, etc. are still stuck with this visa model.

Which sponsor or agent should you use for your UAE tourist visa?

If you don’t have a sponsor, you can use a UAE-authorized agent to apply for your UAE tourist visa. There are a bazillion agents these days processing UAE tourist visas, including VFS Global.

Thanks to the internet, you can apply for a UAE tourist visa through an agent completely online in the comfort of your home. All you need is a scanned copy of your Passport ID page and a digital passport-size photo.

The fee, documentation and processing time vary by agent. Local agents in your country are usually cheaper but you must do your due diligence on their authenticity, hidden charges and processing time before applying through them.

Which agent do I recommend for a UAE visit visa?

My preferred agent for UAE or Dubai tourist visas is Etihad Airways. I usually prefer a reputed international agent, so I went with Etihad Airways. They only act as an agent for your visa and you don’t have to fly with Etihad Airways. You can fly with any budget airline and travel to/from any international airport in the UAE.

Other agents that you can use and their fee for a UAE 30-day single-entry tourist visa is below.

My preferred agent

  • Etihad Airways | 361 AED | Few hours | No security deposit

UAE based agents

  • Arabiers | 359 AED | 24-48 hours
  • Sharjah Airport Travel Agency (SATA) | 335 AED

India based agents

  • MakeMyTrip | Approx. 311 AED | 7-9 days

IMPORTANT Some agents will charge a security deposit which will be refunded to you on your exit from the UAE. So do your due diligence before applying for your UAE tourist visa with any of the above agents.

I have a detailed article on how to apply for a UAE or Dubai tourist visa online with Etihad Airways. Follow the article for step-by-step instructions on how to apply for your UAE tourist visa.

What types of UAE tourist visas are available?

Below are some of the different types of tourist visas available.

  • 30-day single-entry tourist visa
  • 90-day single-entry tourist visa
  • 30-day multiple-entry tourist visa
  • 90-day multiple-entry tourist visa
  • Long-term tourist visa

Most tourists usually need a 30-day single-entry tourist visa. It’s also the cheapest of all types of tourist visas. The procedure to apply for any of the above types of visas is pretty much the same, except for the fee.

Validity of UAE visit visa

All UAE tourist visas are valid for 60 days within which you must enter the UAE. Then depending on your visa, you will be given that many days of permission to stay in the UAE.

For example, if you hold a 30-day single-entry tourist visa, your visa will be valid for 60 days. You can enter the UAE anytime within that 60 days. When you enter, immigration will give you 30 days to stay in the UAE.

When to apply for your Dubai visit visa

You can apply for your UAE visit visa as early as possible. But apply at least 5 working days prior to your trip. Processing can take time and some agents require up to 10 working days to process.

How long can you stay in the UAE with a tourist visa

You can stay up to 30 days or 90 days depending on your visa. You can also extend the visas within the UAE for an additional 30 days or 90 days.

Documents required for UAE tourist visa

Usually, you will need the following documents.

  • A scan of your passport ID page
  • A recent colored digital photo
  • A copy of your flight ticket

ENTRY AND EXIT PROCEDURE AT THE AIRPORT

UAE Dubai Entry Stamp in Passport

Entering the UAE by air

After you arrive at the airport, walk towards passport control and baggage claim.

If you hold an Indian passport and are planning to obtain a UAE Visa on Arrival, head to the following visa agent desk for your Visa on Arrival process. Once your Visa on Arrival is processed head to the immigration.

  • Sharjah Airport: SATA
  • Dubai Airport: Marhaba Services
  • Abu Dhabi: There are agents involved for Abu Dhabi airport, so head straight to the immigration

At the immigration, present your passport, boarding pass and Visa on Arrival fee receipt (if you hold an India passport and obtained Visa on Arrival) or your Dubai visit visa print.

The officers may ask you a few questions about your trip such as whether it’s your first time in UAE, how long you will stay, etc. You may be asked to show your return/onward ticket and your hotel booking.

If you are traveling on a one-way ticket, you can use OnwardTicket to get proof of an onward ticket.

Get a proof of onward ticket for your trip from OnwardTicket

Leaving UAE by air

UAE airports have automated passport controls when leaving the country. You will simply arrive at one of the automated passport control kiosks, scan your passport and follow the voice instructions. When the voice says move forward and face the camera, you will do so. Then the exit gate will open and you will exit. No exit stamp is given.

If you are having any issues with automated passport controls, you will be sent to a manned passport control counter.

Dubai Global Village at Night

A UAE or Dubai tourist visa is not required for 0ver 70 nationalities. Other nationalities must obtain a prearranged UAE tourist visa through a UAE-based sponsor or authorized agent.

All UAE or Dubai tourist visas are e-visas. You can apply online with your preferred agent and receive the e-visa in the email.

Indian nationals with a valid US visa or a residence permit from the US, UK or EU can get a Visa on Arrival at all international airports.

Dubai is a thriving city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Its big scale development and attractions for all age groups have made Dubai a major tourist and business attraction. Say you will be visiting Dubai. How do you get a tourist visa to Dubai? Depending on your nationality, it can be a simple process.

Figuring Out the Rules

Step 1 Determine the rules for your specific country.

  • Citizens of the United States and all EU member states qualify for free visit visas at United Arab Emirates airports or other points of entry. They last for 30 days. That means you don’t need to get a visa in advance of arriving in Dubai.
  • If you are a citizen of a Gulf Cooperation Council country, you don’t need a visa at all and could also qualify for a visa for domestic help. GCC countries are countries along the Arabian peninsula. These countries include: Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
  • If you are from a country not on that list of 33 and aren't from a GCC country, you may still get a day tourist visa, depending on the country you are from, but it needs to be sponsored by a local entity, like a hotel or a tour operator, and you should get the visa before entering Dubai. Check with your embassy before traveling to Dubai because the list of countries not requiring a pre-visa or sponsor can change.

Step 2 Determine the type of visa you need if you don’t qualify for the free visit visa.

  • Valid sponsors include hotel and tourist companies, airlines and airline handlers, organizations based in the United Arab Emirates, and some individuals who already live there.
  • You will need to choose the type of visa. Possibilities include a tourist visa that is valid for 30 days, a service visa valid for 14 days or a visit visa, which is valid for 30 days and can be extended for another 30.
  • Airlines and airline handlers can qualify for a 96-hour transit visa.

Obtaining a Visa if you are a U.S. Citizen

Step 1 Get a 30-day visa as an American citizen.

  • Your passport must be valid for more than six months, so make sure it's not about to expire. As noted, you do not need to obtain a visa prior to entry to the UAE if you will be staying in Dubai for less than one month. Proceed directly to customs check, and you will be instructed on how to get your visa. You will need your U.S. passport.
  • This includes U.S citizens who have visas or entry stamps from other countries in their passports. You will need a confirmed round trip airline ticket and an original passport signed by the bearer that should not expire within six months of the time you expect to arrive in Dubai.
  • The visas are available when you arrive at the airport. If you are going to stay longer than one month, you could just ask for an extension from the immigration office in the UAE.

Step 2 Obtain a diplomatic or official visa.

  • You need the original passport signed by the bearer, and it should not expire within 6 months of your arrival.
  • You will need a copy of the passport and application, two original passport-sized photos, and an original letter from the U.S. Department you are representing that lists your position, purpose of your visit, name and phone number of your contact person in UAE and a confirmation of your sponsor.

Getting a Visa for More Frequent Entry or Longer Trips

Step 1 Figure out if you need a multiple-entry visa.

  • You must enter the UAE first on a visit visa. Obtain the multiple-entry visa while in the country. The visa will be stamped in your passport.
  • Citizens of the United States and all EU member states qualify for free visit visas at United Arab Emirates airports or other points of entry.
  • U.S. citizens can apply to the UAE embassy in the United States to obtain one to 10-year multiple entry visas. This requires a sponsor. The visa is free. Tourists and business people using this visa should not stay longer than six months for each visit. German citizens can apply to the UAE embassy in Germany but only qualify for 1 to 2 year multiple entry visas. They don’t need a sponsor. They can’t stay longer than three months per year and must pay a visa fee.

Step 2 Obtain a transit visa.

  • You must present passport and travel documents. If you are from Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Niger, or Yemen, you don’t qualify for a transit visa.
  • Airlines often arrange these transit visas for their passengers.

Step 3 Obtain a student visa.

  • You will need to submit a clear passport copy of the sponsor, a copy of the establishment card, copy of the trade license, and travel insurance. There are fees associated with student visas
  • You will also need to provide a clear personal photo of the sponsored person and authorized signatures.

Step 4 Obtain a medical treatment visa.

Introduction

Welcome to the bustling and dynamic city of Dubai, a gem in the United Arab Emirates. Known for its futuristic skyline, luxurious lifestyle, and captivating tourist attractions, Dubai welcomes millions of visitors each year. If you’re planning a trip to this city of wonders, one of the first steps is to apply for a Dubai tourist visa. Whether you’re visiting for leisure or business purposes, obtaining the correct visa is essential.

A Dubai tourist visa allows visitors to explore the city’s numerous landmarks, indulge in the vibrant culture, and experience the world-class shopping and entertainment options. The United Arab Emirates offers different types of tourist visas, depending on the duration and purpose of your visit. It’s important to determine the correct visa category to ensure a smooth application process.

In this article, we will guide you through the step-by-step process of applying for a Dubai tourist visa. From gathering the required documents to submitting your application and tracking its progress, we’ll provide you with all the necessary information to make your visa application experience hassle-free.

But before we dive into the application process, remember to check the latest visa regulations and requirements as they may vary depending on your nationality. It’s always a good idea to consult with the embassy or consulate of the United Arab Emirates in your home country to obtain accurate and up-to-date information.

Now let’s get started with the first step in applying for a Dubai tourist visa, determining the type of visa that suits your travel needs.

Step 1: Determine the type of Dubai tourist visa you need

Before applying for a Dubai tourist visa, it’s important to determine the specific type of visa that is suitable for your travel plans. The United Arab Emirates offers various visa categories depending on the purpose and duration of your visit. Here are some of the common types of tourist visas:

  • 30-Day Tourist Visa: This visa is ideal for short-term tourists who plan to stay in Dubai for up to 30 days. It can be extended for an additional 30 days if needed.
  • 90-Day Tourist Visa: If you plan to have a longer stay in Dubai, the 90-day tourist visa is a suitable option. It allows you to explore the city for up to 90 days with the possibility of extension.
  • Multiple Entry Visa: If you’re a frequent traveler to Dubai or plan to visit neighboring countries while in the UAE, a multiple entry visa may be the best choice. This visa allows you to enter and exit the country multiple times within a specified period.
  • Transit Visa: If you have a layover in Dubai and plan to stay for a short duration, typically between 8 and 96 hours, you may be eligible for a transit visa. This allows you to explore the city during your layover.

When deciding which visa type to apply for, consider the duration of your stay, your travel plans, and the purpose of your visit. It’s important to choose the right visa category to avoid any complications during the application process.

Additionally, you should also check whether you are eligible for visa-on-arrival, which allows citizens of certain countries to obtain a visa upon arrival in the UAE. This can be a convenient option for travelers who are eligible as it eliminates the need for advance visa application.

Once you have determined the appropriate visa type, you can proceed with gathering the required documents for your Dubai tourist visa application. Let’s move on to step two.

Step 2: Gather the required documents

Now that you have determined the type of Dubai tourist visa you need, it’s time to gather the necessary documents to support your application. The required documents may vary depending on the visa category and your personal circumstances. However, there are some common documents that are typically required for a Dubai tourist visa application:

  • Passport: Ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months from the date of entry into the UAE. It should also have at least one blank page for the visa stamp.
  • Photographs: Most visa applications require recent passport-sized photographs with specific dimensions. Check the requirements for the correct size and specifications.
  • Completed Application Form: Fill out the online visa application form accurately and provide all the necessary details. Make sure to double-check the information before submitting.
  • Flight Tickets: Provide a copy of your confirmed round-trip flight tickets or itinerary showing your travel dates.
  • Proof of Accommodation: Include a hotel reservation confirmation or an invitation letter from your host in Dubai if you are staying with friends or family.
  • Financial Documents: Demonstrate your financial capability to support your stay in Dubai. This can be in the form of bank statements, salary slips, or sponsorship letters.
  • Travel Insurance: It is recommended to have travel insurance that covers medical expenses and emergencies during your stay in Dubai.

Please note that additional documents may be required depending on your specific circumstances. For example, if you are traveling with minors, you may need to provide their birth certificates and consent letters from parents or legal guardians. Similarly, if you’re visiting Dubai for business purposes, you might need to submit additional documents such as a letter from your employer or an invitation letter from a UAE-based company.

Step 3: Choose the right application method

After gathering all the necessary documents, it’s time to choose the most convenient and suitable method to submit your Dubai tourist visa application. There are primarily two ways to apply for a visa: through a travel agency or directly through the official government channels. Here are the options:

  • Travel Agency: If you prefer a hassle-free visa application process, you can choose to apply through a reputable travel agency. They will handle the entire process on your behalf and guide you through the necessary steps. This can be a convenient option for those who want professional assistance and have limited time or resources to handle the application themselves. However, keep in mind that there may be additional service fees associated with using a travel agency.
  • Direct Application: If you prefer to handle the visa application process independently, you can apply directly through the official government channels. The United Arab Emirates government provides an online portal where you can submit your visa application and all relevant documents. This method allows you to have more control over the application process and avoid any additional fees charged by travel agencies.

When choosing the application method, consider factors such as time, convenience, cost, and your confidence in handling the process on your own. Both options are valid, so choose the one that aligns with your preferences and circumstances.

Step 4: Complete the online application form

Now that you have chosen the application method, it’s time to complete the online application form for your Dubai tourist visa. If you have decided to apply directly through the official government channels, follow these steps:

  • Visit the official website of the United Arab Emirates government’s visa application portal.
  • Create an account or log in if you already have one.
  • Select the type of visa you are applying for (e.g., tourist visa) and provide the required information.
  • Fill out the application form accurately, ensuring that all details match the information provided in your supporting documents.
  • Upload the necessary documents as per the specifications mentioned on the website. Ensure that the scanned copies are clear and legible.
  • Review the application form and the uploaded documents to make sure everything is in order.
  • Submit the application form along with any applicable fees.

If you have chosen to apply through a travel agency, they will guide you through the process and handle the online application on your behalf. They will require you to provide the necessary information and documents so they can complete the form on your behalf.

During the online application process, be mindful of any specific requirements or instructions provided on the website. Double-check all the information before submitting to avoid any mistakes that could potentially delay the processing of your visa application.

Step 5: Pay the visa fees

After completing the online application form, the next step is to pay the visa fees for your Dubai tourist visa. The fees for the visa will vary depending on the type and duration of your visa, as well as your nationality. Here’s how you can pay the visa fees:

  • Online Payment: If you applied through the official government channels, you can make the payment online using a credit or debit card. Follow the instructions provided on the website to complete the payment securely.
  • Travel Agency Payment: If you opted to apply through a travel agency, they will usually handle the payment for you. Make sure to discuss the details of the payment process with the travel agency and confirm whether they will charge any additional service fees.

It’s important to note that the visa fees are non-refundable, even if your application is rejected. Therefore, ensure that you meet all the eligibility requirements and have provided accurate information before making the payment.

Once the payment is made successfully, you will receive a confirmation of your payment. Keep this confirmation safe as you may need it to track the progress of your visa application.

Step 6: Submit your application

After completing the online application form and paying the visa fees, the next step is to submit your Dubai tourist visa application. The submission process may vary depending on whether you applied directly through the official government channels or through a travel agency. Here’s what you need to do:

If you applied directly through the official government channels:

  • Print a copy of your completed application form and keep it for your records.
  • Prepare a folder or envelope to keep all your supporting documents organized.
  • Include a copy of your payment confirmation in the folder or envelope.
  • Ensure that all your documents are in order and meet the specified requirements.
  • Visit the nearest UAE embassy or consulate in your country to submit your application.
  • Present your application form, supporting documents, and payment confirmation to the respective authorities.
  • Follow any additional instructions given by the embassy or consulate, such as providing your biometric data, if required.
  • Keep the receipt provided by the embassy or consulate as proof of submission.

If you applied through a travel agency:

  • Provide all the required documents to the travel agency as instructed.
  • Ensure that the travel agency has submitted your application and all supporting documents on your behalf.
  • Keep a copy of your application form and payment confirmation for your records.
  • Follow up with the travel agency to confirm the submission of your visa application.
  • Inquire about any additional steps or information required from your end.

It’s important to note that the submission process must be completed within the specified time frame. Failure to submit your application within the given time may result in delays or rejection of your visa application.

With your visa application submitted, it’s time to proceed to the next step: tracking the progress of your visa application.

Step 7: Track the progress of your visa application

Once you have submitted your Dubai tourist visa application, it’s important to stay informed about its progress. Tracking the status of your visa application allows you to know when your visa will be processed and if any additional information or actions are required. Here’s how you can track the progress of your visa application:

  • Online Tracking System: If you applied through the official government channels, you can use the online tracking system provided on the visa application portal. Log in to your account and enter the necessary details to access the status of your application.
  • Travel Agency Assistance: If you applied through a travel agency, they should provide you with updates on the progress of your visa application. Contact them to inquire about the current status and any updates regarding your application.
  • Embassy or Consulate Inquiries: If you submitted your application directly at a UAE embassy or consulate, you can contact them to inquire about the status of your visa application. They should be able to provide you with the necessary information and updates.

It’s important to note that the processing time for visa applications can vary depending on various factors such as the type of visa, the volume of applications, and the current policies. Be patient and allow sufficient time for the application to be processed.

If any additional information or documentation is required for your visa application, you will be notified through the tracking system or by the relevant authorities. Make sure to promptly provide the requested information to avoid delays in processing your application.

Once your visa application is approved, you can proceed to the final step: receiving your Dubai tourist visa.

Step 8: Receive your Dubai tourist visa

Congratulations! If your Dubai tourist visa application has been approved, you are now ready to receive your visa. Here’s what you need to know about receiving your Dubai tourist visa:

  • Notification: You will be notified through the same method you used to track the progress of your application. This could be through an email, SMS, or an update on the online tracking system. Keep an eye on your notifications to ensure you don’t miss any important communication regarding your visa.
  • If you applied through the official government channels, you may be able to download and print your visa directly from the visa application portal. Check the instructions provided on the portal to see if this option is available to you.
  • If you applied through a travel agency, they will typically handle the collection of your visa on your behalf. They will either send you a copy of the visa through email or arrange for you to collect it from their office.
  • If you submitted your application directly at a UAE embassy or consulate, they will provide you with instructions on how and when to collect your visa.
  • Validity and Conditions: Once you receive your Dubai tourist visa, check the validity dates and any specific conditions associated with your visa. Ensure that the visa covers the intended duration of your stay and that you comply with any restrictions or requirements specified on the visa.

It’s important to keep a copy of your Dubai tourist visa with you at all times during your trip to Dubai. You may be required to present it to immigration officials upon arrival in the UAE, so ensure it is easily accessible.

Explained: Dubai's 5-Year Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa For Indians

In 2023, Dubai witnessed a remarkable 25% surge in overnight visitors from India.

Dubai has introduced a game-changer for Indian tourists with a newly launched five-year multiple-entry visa. Aimed at strengthening ties between India and the UAE, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has announced this initiative in response to the increasing influx of Indian visitors.

Dubai's 5-Year Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa: What does it mean?

In 2023, Dubai witnessed a remarkable 25% surge in overnight visitors from India, solidifying its position as the leading source market. The five-year visa is strategically implemented to deepen economic collaborations, stimulate tourism, and fortify business relationships.

Dubai's 5-Year Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa: How does it work?

This new visa lets tourists enter the UAE multiple times on their sponsorship. They can stay for 90 days initially, extendable once, totalling a maximum of 180 days within a year.

It is designed to suit various travel needs, facilitating easy connections for business or leisure purposes.

DET highlighted that with this initiative, tourists can benefit from multiple entries and exits, enhancing operational flexibility for business engagements, leisure travel, and seamless connectivity.

Bader Ali Habib, Regional Head of Proximity Markets at Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, emphasised the significant role of India in Dubai's tourism sector, contributing to record-breaking performance in inbound visitation in 2023, reported Economic Times.

He stated that India remains a key market for Dubai, playing an essential role in achieving the goals of the D33 Agenda and reinforcing Dubai's position as a hub for business, investment, and tourism.

Application Process:

To obtain the visa, applicants must meet certain criteria, including a bank balance of 4,000 USD, valid health insurance for the UAE, a round-trip ticket, and proof of stay in the UAE (hotel or residential address).

The application requires essential documents such as a coloured photo, passport copy, medical insurance, bank statement, tour program, and an onward journey ticket.

Issuing the Visa:

The process of issuing the visa involves either utilising digital channels (GDRFA website/smart application) or visiting a Customer Happiness Centre. Both methods involve filling the application, paying the necessary fees, and ensuring all conditions and documents are in order.

The visa adheres to specific terms and conditions, including possessing a valid passport or travel document, a return ticket, valid medical insurance in the UAE, and a bank statement showing a balance of 4,000 USD.

Dubai's 5-year multiple-entry tourist visa for Indians is a significant step towards fostering stronger bonds between the two nations and providing Indian tourists with an extended and flexible travel option to Dubai.

  • Criminal or misconduct records in the UAE
  • Handwritten passport
  • Incomplete requirements
  • Unclear photo

3. What to do after my Dubai visa application is rejected?

Some applicants ask their sponsor to visit the concerned authorities to inquire about this. You may choose to do the same.

4. Is Dubai travel insurance required?

Travel insurance is not listed as a requirement on Dubai’s official tourism board. [4] However, it’s best to stay on the safe side. Protect yourself financially from any unexpected mishaps and buy a UAE-recognized policy with enough inclusions.

Dubai introduces 5-year multiple-entry tourist visa for Indians

D ubai has rolled out a five-year multiple-entry visa to boost travel between India and the Gulf nation, news agency PTI reported, citing the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET).

Last year, 2.46 million Indians visited Dubai, a 25 per cent rise from the pre-Covid-19 pandemic era. This figure has made India the number one source market with an exceptional 34 per cent year-on-year growth, according to the latest DET data on February 22.

In the year-ago period, the city hosted 1.84 million tourists from India, while in 2019, it welcomed 1.97 million visitors, it added.

Eligible Indian nationals can now enjoy the convenience of multiple entries into Dubai for five years, with each stay allowed up to 90 days. This visa can be extended once for a similar period, ensuring that the total stay does not exceed 180 days within a year.

The visa-issuance process is notably efficient, with applications being processed within two to five working days upon receiving and accepting the service request.

To qualify for the visa, applicants must meet specific requirements, including possessing a bank balance of $4,000 or its equivalent in foreign currencies during the last six months and having valid health insurance coverage applicable in the UAE.

Through this initiative, tourists can leverage multiple entries and exits, providing operational flexibility for business engagements, leisure travel, and seamless connectivity, DET said, PTI reported.

"Dubai introduced a five-year multiple-entry visa to further bolster travel between India and Dubai, to foster sustained economic collaborations and encourage tourism and business ties," the DET said.

"As a key market for Dubai, India will continue to play an integral role in enabling us to achieve the goals of the D33 Agenda, further reinforcing Dubai's position as a hub for business, investment and tourism," said Bader Ali Habib, Regional Head of Proximity Markets at Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, said.

"Our inbound visitation from India in 2023 was outstanding, contributing to a record-breaking performance by our tourism sector," he added.

Habib said the move will not only allow Indian tourists to visit Dubai but also provide a platform for enhanced economic collaboration.

"With exceptional flight connectivity and our ongoing commitment to the Indian market, we are confident that our upcoming initiatives will further amplify awareness about Dubai's diverse offerings, multicultural setting, and abundance of hotels and attractions, continuing to make it the top travel choice for Indian tourists," he said.
