Money can’t buy you love, but it CAN buy you international plane tickets. So…Love shmove!

Let’s get real for a sec. Travel ain’t free and it certainly ain’t (always) cheap. If you want to see the world—I mean really see it—you’re gonna have to spend some $$$. In a perfect world, international airfare wouldn’t drive us to Google “how much will my kidney sell for?” And that’s WITH all the amazing flight deal hacks !

Us, once we see the cost of our dream program abroad.

So, how are we, the not-Beyonce’s of the world, supposed to afford to study, intern, volunteer, or teach abroad? How do we go from being trifling good-for-nothing type of brothers to a baller?

Travel. Scholarships. Grants. Fellowships.

That’s right, now you can pay your bills and now we DEFINITELY can chill. None of this maxing out cards and acting dumb when the bill comes. Nah-uh. We’re not playing Bey like that. You can apply for scholarships to travel abroad—no joke.

Don’t believe me? Watch the video and read the transcript below. Our travel experts lay out exactly how you can use travel grants, fellowships, and scholarships to make ALLLLLL your adventures come to life.

Video transcript

The only thing more stressful than packing four months of junk into a suitcase is applying for travel scholarships. Deadlines, eligibility factors, essays—trying to impress someone enough in 500 words or less so that they will literally help fund your dreams is a daunting experience.

DON’T WORRY. WE GOT YOU.

Let’s chat SCHOLARSHIPS, y’all! That’s right, you can get FREE MONEY to study, volunteer, intern, get your TEFL certificate, etc.

One more time: Free. Money.

We’re here to tell you about how GoAbroad can help you find travel scholarships to make all your travel dreams come true. So if you have one, wait, I promise it’ll come true! That’s why we put this how-to video together to help you find the right student travel scholarships, get your application game up to snuff, and watch that free money come rollin’ on in.

What kinds of travel fellowships, scholarships, & grants are there?

There’s academic scholarships to travel abroad , which is great if you love report cards—for you smarties out there!

Athletic scholarships for travel are a slam dunk! Now you don’t have to be a pro, but if you’re really good and play a sport in college this might be the right scholarship for you.

Is your ethnicity or gender under-represented in travel? Demographic scholarships to travel abroad are for you.

Destination based student travel scholarships —different countries have different scholarships for international students. [So be sure to check those out]

Find a scholarship based on your field of study. [AKA— major-specific travel scholarships for college students. ]

Do you receive the Pell Grant or other financial aid? Then, apply for need-based travel scholarships .

OR, your alma mater could hook you up with university-specific scholarships to travel abroad . And to help undergraduate students afford to take on unpaid or underpaid summer internships, study abroad programs, or service trips abroad, or even summer research. There’s just heaps of options! I could go on and on and on all day.

Stop doodling and dreaming, and start doing! Seriously, those applications won’t finish themselves.

Where can I find travel scholarships for college students?

We’re glad you asked! We’ve got a handy dandy little thing over at GoAbroad called a “ Scholarships Directory .” This is your go-to for all things travel scholarships! Again: Go. Abroad. Scholarships directory. Filter your search by experience to find great opportunities across the web, all in one place.

PRO TIP: For those of you still in school, if you haven’t popped by your international programs or financial aid offices, you better make an appointment! It’s right there, it’s easy to use, they’ll be there with you throughout the whole process and you’ll be on your way to your next adventure in no time.

How do I apply for travel grants, fellowships, & scholarships without wasting my time?

Another great question, class! Very nice! My mother’s always told me that if you’re not nervous about a job interview, then you probably don’t really care about the job. I think the same thing stands true for a lot of other things as well. [**Like applying for scholarships to travel abroad.]

Here are a few insider tips so that you don’t waste your time, and, you’re ultimately getting the most bang for your buck! (Buck for your bang???—Whatever, here’s how to kick ASS at scholarship apps.)

Get organized! Put everything in one place—Google drive, a spreadsheet, or an *actual* folder with printed materials. [Whatever your style is, just make sure you have everything together and easy to find.]

DUE. DATES. DO MATTER. They do, do, do, okay? So mark all your due dates and create reminders for them one or two weeks out. You don’t want to be scrambling to get everything together last minute. Trust me, it’s not enjoyable.

Ask for letters of recommendation. Now this could be something from your past boss or your teacher. Some scholarships will require letters of recommendation. Start this process early to give recommenders plenty of time to craft a meaningful letter for you. [Plus, if one falls through, you’ll want time to queue up a backup!]

Next stop: Adventure abroad!

Craft a KILLER application essay. Yes, you have to write. This is like, 90% of the application, right? You’ll need to check the specifics of each prompt. Some might be looking for a personal narrative, some might want you to answer a very specific question or speak to a current event or major world issue. In order to get the dough you gotta put in the time.

  • Understand your goals — ask yourself why this experience is important, what will you bring to the table, and what do you expect to take away from the experience.
  • Outline your essay —but like, seriously. Even if it starts only as “Intro, body, and conclusion,” at least you need to know where you’re headed so you don’t end up submitting a two-page ramble about nothing.
  • Then you want to edit, edit, edit.
  • Edit again, edit again, and edit AGAIN. There’s going to be no typos for you. You want to look professional and you want to look smart.
  • Send your draft to someone you trust to give you feedback and edit it, again. Like your mom, or your English teacher.
  • ONE LAST TIME. Review submissions requirements so you know you’re following all the directions and submitting your essay in the correct format.

Submit all of your materials. (Early, you pro!) and await your fate! Good luck! Now, waiting for your acceptance letters can be anxiety inducing. So, check with your scholarship offices about when you can expect to hear a decision by, and keep yourself as busy as you can while you’re waiting.

Are travel fellowships worth all the fuss?

PFFFT. Is it worth it? Are overpriced avocados low-key the worst? Is Beyonce an angel we don’t deserve? Could your brow game be even stronger? YAS. Of course travel scholarships are worth it.

They make meaningful travel that much more affordable by helping you cover the pesky costs of things like: round trip flights, housing, FOOOOOD, your new backpack. That stuff adds up quick. It’s a really great resource for students to take advantage of because it really opens up a whole world of opportunities.

You know, that way you can save your hard-earned cash for fun stuff! Like weekend trips with new friends! Or that visit to the Van Gogh museum! You might even fall in love with a country and decide to move there permanently. Hey! That’s how I ended up here in Namibia. Apply to travel scholarships for college students so you can get out there and make all this fun, and life-changing stuff happen.

Next...next steps to scoring free money for travel

Ri-ri knows you if you want that $$$, you better werk.

Listen, we were all pretty clear about what you’ve got to do in order to get that sweet, sweet cash money, but we’ve got some more resources for you either way.

31 Travel Scholarships, Fellowships, and Grants to Fund Your Next Trip Abroad

DO YOU HAVE A worthwhile project or field of study that involves traveling? If so, consider having your travels funded through a grant, fellowship, or travel scholarship.

Begin by contemplating where you want to go and potential projects you could build around those destinations. (Or vice versa.) Always wondered how sustainable agriculture works in Guam? How about local conservation practices in Central America? Once you have a clear vision of a travel / research project, begin looking for funding possibilities that give you the most freedom to pursue your goals.

When applying, take advantage of the resources and support systems you have. Your school, present or past, will have an adviser who can help you navigate the application process.

Writing grant proposals can take a lot of time, but good advice can help focus your efforts. Your school or area may even offer their own scholarship opportunities–talk to your department or your study abroad office.

Finally, even if funding from your school or other org close to home isn’t an option, you’ll find lots of other opportunities out there to fund your travel / project.

If you’re planning for a study abroad adventure, chances are you’re starting to get organized and assess what needs to be done ahead of your travels. And one of the most important steps: Exploring your study abroad scholarship and grant options .

Let’s dive in as we discuss two of the best CIEE travel grants for students like yourself and learn more about how you can make your study abroad dream a reality!

GAIN Travel Grant

CIEE’s GAIN Travel Grant is part of our need-based scholarship offerings based on students’ Estimated Family Contribution (EFC)* from their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at their enrolled institution.

This travel grant helps students with their travel costs to and from their study abroad or internship program destination ( up to $1,500 for semester and quarter programs , and up to $500 for summer and single block programs ).

Any student with an EFC below 10,000 is guaranteed to receive this grant, while those over 10,000, will still be considered post-deadline. Important to note: The deadline for this grant is October 15 for spring programs and April 1 for summer and fall programs.

The steps to apply for the GAIN Travel Grant are super simple:

  • Step 1: Students upload their FAFSA Student Aid Report
  • Step 2: Submit a CIEE Scholarships and Grants application by October for spring programs/April 1 for summer and fall programs

This is an incredible opportunity for students to receive some extra assistance with their travel costs!

Trailblazer Grant

Also part of our travel grants is the Trailblazer Grant, which is considered in our third category of scholarship offerings, deemed “other,” based on specific study abroad programs. This particular grant is awarded to students who travel on a new 2024 spring , summer , or fall study abroad program with CIEE.

CIEE offers many qualifying spring, summer, and fall programs for this specific travel grant that span several countries including:

  • Greater China

Make sure to check out each of the specific study abroad programs and cities on our Trailblazer Grant page .

Students may receive up to $1,500 in the form of a flight voucher for their eligible CIEE program and, like our other scholarship and grant options, the steps to applying are straightforward. Once you’ve decided on your new 2024 spring, summer, or fall program, all you’ll need to do is the following:

  • Step 1: Fill out the form to receive details about your flight voucher
  • Step 2: Select one of our qualifying programs
  • Step 3: Start your CIEE application

The Trailblazer Grant is a simple way to gain some extra assistance with your study abroad travels!

Travel Grant FAQs

While the application process for our travel grants and travel scholarships is relatively straightforward, we’re sure you have some questions. And we don’t blame you! It can seem like a complicated process and it’s all brand-new information.

We’ve compiled some of our most frequently asked questions about our travel grants and answered them!

What is a travel grant?

Starting with the very basics, a grant is a non-refundable endowment given by an individual, organization, or government department for a specific purpose linked to public benefit. Travel grants – in the case of studying abroad – are awarded to students from a non-profit organization, (that’s us: CIEE), to assist students in their international education. And the public benefit is robust – creating global citizens who will make the world a better place (that’s you)!

It’s important to note that travel grants aren’t just awarded to students. For example, researchers can apply for travel grants to expand their studies, and many other instances.

Do scholarships cover travel expenses?

Yes! Some of our travel scholarships cover travel expenses, but some are specific to program fees. For example, while the GAIN Travel Grant helps cover travel costs, the Gilman Go Global Grant helps cover semester program fees. Take a close look at each of our offerings on our scholarships and grants page to best understand what type of aid covers specific aspects of your study abroad program and travels.

How do I ask for travel funding?

As the question implies, simply asking for travel funding is perfectly acceptable!

We always have CIEE staff available to help point you in the right direction. As we’ve mentioned, exploring our scholarships and grants page is a great place to start, as well as consulting with your on-campus study abroad office; they might have some additional travel grants and scholarships related to your specific institution. Your academic advisor might even be able to provide some helpful resources.

What’s important to note is that there are a lot of different places and people to look to for help with travel funding, and CIEE is another wonderful resource to support you and help make your study abroad program affordable and accessible.

How to apply for a travel grant?

As we’ve mentioned, applying for a travel grant with CIEE is simple! On your CIEE application, make sure to fill out the scholarship and grants portion. And if you have any questions, we’re happy to help!

Studying abroad is possible with the many different travel grants and scholarships available – check them out today!

Now that you know our two travel grant offers for studying abroad, as well as answers to commonly asked grants questions, we encourage you to check out our 200+ study abroad program offerings and find one that best suits your interests!

*Note: EFC (Expected Family Contribution) is being replaced by SAI (Student Aid Index) for the 2024-2025 FAFSA cycle. Due to unexpected FAFSA delays during the transition, CIEE will accept the 2023-2024 FAFSA (EFC) or the 2024-2025 FAFSA (SAI) for Fall 2024. For students who provide the 2023-2024 FAFSA (EFC), we will continue to guarantee GAIN Travel Grants to those with EFCs of 10,000 or less. For students who provide the 2024-2025 FAFSA (SAI), we will guarantee GAIN Travel Grants to Pell Eligible students. Applications must received by the April 1st deadline for the guarantee. Students with high need should still apply even if they do not meet the criteria noted above.

International Travel Grants for Students

The Dean Rusk Student Travel Grant Application for Summer 2024 i s now LIVE!  Be sure to review the application checklist and schedule an appointmen t with a Dean Rusk staff member to get started. Apply by February 1, 2024.

The Dean Rusk International Studies Program awards grants to Davidson students and faculty members for service, research, internships, study, and experiential learning abroad.

Grants are awarded twice each year–once in the fall, for projects during winter break, and once in the spring, for summer projects. Applications are reviewed by the Dean Rusk International Studies Program staff and by the faculty International Education Committee.

The goals of the student-grant program are to facilitate student interaction with diverse cultures, languages, environments, standards of living, and political climates and to encourage independent student research. To achieve this, the International Education Committee has shown a strong preference for long-term independent projects that have a high degree of cultural interaction.   Dean Rusk funds are not, with very few exceptions, to be used to pay for external program fees. Students seeking to apply for Dean Rusk grants that include such fees are strongly encouraged to speak with the Dean Rusk Program Director before doing so.

Graduate Student Travel Grant

The Graduate Student Travel Grants are established to support graduate students engaged in independent scholarly research, scientific inquiry, inventive technology, and artistic/creative activity. The grants support graduate students to travel in-person to meetings or events sponsored by professional organizations for the purpose of sharing the results of their research, exhibiting or performing creative works, or otherwise disseminating the results of their scholarly activity. These grants do not cover conference attendance for other purposes (e.g. as a non-presenting attendee or workshop participant).

WMU graduate students may receive a maximum of two Research Grants, or two Travel Grant, or one of each grant type at these degree levels: master’s, specialist. Doctoral students may receive a maximum of three Research Grants or Travel Grants, or a combination of both, up to three total. Because these are competitive grants, students are eligible to receive up to the maximum allowed in their degree level, but these are not guaranteed awards for each student. Note: the typing of theses, dissertations, and project paper, as well as the purchase of computers or supplies and equipment commonly provided by departments or by other existing grants or funds do not qualify as legitimate budget expenses under a Graduate Student Travel Grant.

These websites help students find college scholarships and get free application advice

Applying to college and figuring out how to pay for it can be tough. these websites provide a plethora of free resources for high school students..

thumbnail

It can be stressful to go through the college application process and figure out how to finance that education , whether you're a high school senior applying or a parent who's supporting the process.

Even the thought of looking for scholarships or understanding how much you can earn from work-study can be daunting. It also doesn't help that all the news about the cost of college is depressing, with the total national student loan debt load at $1.388 trillion by the end of 2023, according to Experian — and that's after factoring in various loan forgiveness programs .

The College Board found that the average cost of in-state tuition and fees at a public university was $11,260 per year in 2023. Most students, though, aren't paying the full amount to go to college: The College Board also found that public university students, on average, were spending $2,730 per year on tuition and fees thanks to grant aid.

Financing your college education can be made easier if you know where to seek scholarships and how to apply for aid from the federal government.

Other ways to save, bottom line, compare offers to find the best student loan.

$100 million in scholarship funds go unawarded and over $2 billion in student grants go unclaimed each year, according to SoFi . A common misconception is that scholarships are only available for those with exceptional grades or abilities.

"There are lots of different scholarships out there and lots of different types of scholarships," says Jefferson Pestronk , executive director of the Modern States Education Alliance , a philanthropy focused on college accessibility and affordability, and a former director of special initiatives in the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Innovation and Improvement.

As a result, there are many opportunities for students to save on education, regardless of their grade point average or their standardized testing score. However, it's a double-edged sword.

"You've got to put in the legwork to find the ones that match who you are," Pestronk says.

CNBC Select has rounded up six scholarship search services that could help you save on school. While these websites and apps are useful, many of the scholarships listed are competitive, so students should also seek out local scholarships, fill out their FAFSA, appeal their pre-existing financial aid package and look into federal student loans.

Going Merry

Going Merry , now owned by student loan lender Earnest , was first created by Raymond Murthi and Charlie Maynard. Ray saw a gap in the market when helping his girlfriend apply for scholarships for her master's program. Charlie faced similar issues during his undergraduate and master's programs. Together, they were inspired to create an online service that not only aggregates scholarships but also allows users to apply for them directly through the website.

Rather than fill out multiple scholarship forms, high school students can set up a profile by entering some basic information about themselves. Once they've established a profile, they can apply for multiple scholarships through Going Merry. Users can alter the info for each application and may be required to answer different questions depending on the application.

Going Merry will use the information in your profile to recommend scholarships. Users can also use the search function to filter scholarships by categories like number of recipients, the deadline and competitiveness.

Fastweb (Financial Aid Search Through the Web) says that it was the first scholarship search website . Founded in 1995 by Canadian businessman and entrepreneur Larry Organ, it has over 1.5 million scholarship opportunities listed. Its team of researchers decides which scholarship opportunities are posted and makes sure that none are scams. None of the scholarship applications have fees and none require you to enter personal information.

Students can set up a profile, and Fastweb will recommend scholarships based on the information provided. There's also a database of scholarships organized by student type, whether you're Black, bilingual, a veteran, etc.

Whenever you apply for a scholarship via FastWeb, you'll be redirected to the specific scholarship website where you can apply. Unlike Going Merry, you'll have to go through the hassle of entering the same information multiple times to apply for different scholarships.

Appily (formerly Cappex) is a website that matches students up with potential scholarships and also helps them discover and learn about different colleges.

Appily, like Fastweb and Going Merry, recommends colleges for students to apply to based on their profile. It also has a comprehensive database of colleges with information about the average net price of a college, acceptance rate, application deadlines and post-grad statistics to help you choose which college is a good fit.

The website makes a point to educate students about the college process. It has quizzes that help students understand what college majors they might be interested in and explainer articles about specific majors.

For example, the article about social work majors details what type of coursework you might take in college and info on entry-level salaries.

The scholarship search function allows students to search by different factors like ethnicity, first-generation status and the reward amount.

The Fair Opportunity Project was founded in 2016, by Harvard students Luke Heine and Cole Scanlon. They started the organization to help high school students of all socioeconomic backgrounds gain access to college application resources.

The Fair Opportunity Project works a little differently than the other sites, as it doesn't match students to scholarships. Instead, it offers a comprehensive 129-page guide , available in multiple languages, for high school students that includes information about letters of recommendation, how to compile a college list and examples of college essays that worked.

The Fair Opportunity Project also offers a mentorship program free to students from underserved and underrepresented communities in the United States. Mentors are volunteers who are either current college students or recent college graduates. Students can meet with an advisor for about an hour at a time to get help with college applications, the financial aid process, writing and editing essays and completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) .

Mos is set up like a dating app, but for scholarships.

Students can download the app for free and create a profile by taking short quizzes that ask questions about things like desired majors, GPAs, interests and background. The app then matches students with scholarships that align with their profiles and students can swipe right to save their favorites.

The app provides a summary for each scholarship, including how long the application should take, as well as a brief list of requirements, such as whether it requires an essay. What Mos doesn't do is automatically apply for scholarships on your behalf — it's just a matching tool designed to make finding scholarships easier.

According to its website, Mos' database has over $160 billion in financial aid , some of which is exclusive to the app. Students interested in more personalized support can opt for Mos Premium membership ($9.99 per month or $49.99 per year) to get access to a financial aid advisor who can help with things like filling out scholarship applications, reviewing aid offers and drafting tuition negotiation letters.

Scholly , now owned by student loan lender Sallie Mae , is another free mobile app that matches students with scholarships based on their interests, background and accomplishments. Founder Christopher Gray won $1.3 million in college scholarships and realized how time-consuming the scholarship hunt could be, so he started Scholly to make the process easier.

Students have used the platform to earn over $100 million in scholarships, according to its website. The platform has also provided access to exclusive scholarships from major companies like Amazon and Google.

Users share information about their interests and qualifications, and Scholly provides them with a tailored list of relevant scholarships to consider. Thousands of scholarships are added to its database every month so even long-time users can find new scholarships easily.

Deferment and forbearance options available

Between high tuition costs, housing, food and supplies, a degree's sticker price may seem scary. Pestronk recommends finding someone who has been through the college application and financial aid process before to help you better understand your options and plan ahead.

Students often forget they don't necessarily have to be at an expensive institution for four years to get a bachelor's degree. Students can get college credit through approved classes or college-level examination programs, which can allow students to start their college careers even a year ahead of schedule.

"That 25% is going to make the difference for a lot of students who otherwise can't afford it," Pestronk says.

He also highlights College Promise , a non-profit organization that provides "last dollar scholarships" to students who already qualify for financial aid and grants. College Promise programs, which are available in certain geographic areas across the country, then cover the remainder of the student's out-of-pocket costs to allow that student to attend college without cost.

Pestronk recommends that students use tools that estimate how much attending a certain college will cost them and how that translates into loan debt. If you're looking for a private student loan , CNBC Select named College Ave as a top low-interest student loan lender thanks to its competitive interest rates, as well as no application, origination or prepayment fees. Eligible borrowers also receive hardship protections like deferment, forbearance and grace period options.

College and graduate school scholarships and grants for women.

college travel funding

Paying for college and other advanced degrees is challenging for many students. This is why tapping into the world of scholarships and grants can be so worthwhile. For the most part, scholarships and grants provide money that doesn’t need to be paid back, making them a particularly attractive form of financial aid.

There are many scholarships and grants available to support different kinds of students – including women pursuing advanced degrees.

Keep reading for more information about what scholarships and grants are, how to apply for them, and a sampling of scholarships and grants that are available, some of which are specifically for women.

What’s the difference between scholarships and grants?

Before you begin your search for scholarships and grants, it’s important to understand the differences between the two. Scholarships and grants are terms that are often used interchangeably. This is because both of these financial aid funds don’t need to be paid back in most cases.

The main differences between grants and scholarships are where the funds come from, the eligibility criteria for them, and the application processes.

Grants are typically provided by the federal government, state governments, nonprofits, and schools. Students may become eligible for some of the best-known grants – like the Pell Grant offered by the federal government – by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA ® ) .

Scholarships are offered by a range of institutions, but also individuals, companies, community organizations, and other entities. Some scholarships require students to file the FAFSA ® to be eligible, some require separate applications in addition to the FAFSA ® , and some don’t require the FAFSA ® at all.

In many cases, grants are given based on financial need, whereas scholarships are given for a range of reasons, including merit-based achievements, extracurricular activities, fields of study, financial need, and more.

How to apply for scholarships and grants

The first recommended step to be eligible for grants and scholarships is to file the FAFSA ® . This is how eligible students may access financial aid like the Pell Grant (a need-based grant for undergraduate students), among other grants and scholarships.

Scholarships and grants can have their own applications outside of or in addition to the FAFSA ® , so it’s important to gather information on the scholarship or grant you’re interested in, which may be able to be found on the respective website or by reaching out to the organization or institution offering the grant or scholarship for more information on it.

After you’ve gathered information on the eligibility requirements for a scholarship or grant and you’ve decided to apply for one, your next step is to complete the scholarship or grant’s application if they have one. Some applications may require you to write essays or to record video responses to prompts. Some applications may require that you get letters of recommendation, too. Letters of recommendation might be written by teachers, people in your community, employers, or others, depending on the requirements set by the application.

Be sure to read all applications you complete thoroughly to understand the requirements and to fill them out fully before the respective deadlines.

Don’t be afraid to apply for multiple scholarships and grants to increase your chances of receiving this financial aid. There’s no limit to the number of scholarships and grants that you can apply for.

College and graduate school grants for all

Many of the biggest grants for college and graduate school are made available by the federal government, and they are available to both men and women. To be eligible for all federal grants, you must first file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA ® ). Some of these grants include the following.

The Pell Grant

Exclusively for undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need, the Pell Grant is one of the most well-known federal grant opportunities . For the 2024-25 academic year, the maximum award an eligible student can receive is $7,395.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

This grant is distributed by individual educational institutions and provides supplemental aid to students who demonstrate exceptional financial need beyond the Pell Grant. Awards usually range between $100 to $4,000 per year.

TEACH Grant

The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant provides grants of up to $4,000 a year to students pursuing teaching careers. Students apply for the TEACH Grant before or during their undergraduate or graduate program and have to be enrolled in a TEACH Grant-eligible program. If your application is approved, your program will receive the funds and use them toward your tuition.

Most importantly, to receive a TEACH Grant, you must agree to complete a four-year service obligation teaching full-time in a high-need field at an institution serving low-income students within eight years after you graduate. If you don’t meet the TEACH Grant’s requirements, the grant converts into a Direct Unsubsidized Loan that must be repaid, and interest is charged from the date the grant was disbursed.

Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grants

This grant may be awarded to students who don’t qualify for a Pell Grant based on the information supplied on the FAFSA ® but who meet the remaining Pell Grant eligibility requirements. They must also have lost a parent or guardian to military service following the events of 9/11 in Iraq or Afghanistan and were under 24 at the time of that loss or enrolled in college at least part-time. The award amount is generally the same as the Pell Grant for the academic year. Of note, unlike the Pell Grant, the award amounts are currently reduced by 5.7% due to the Budget Control Act of 2011.

Final thoughts

There are many scholarship and grant opportunities, some for women specifically, to help when it comes to financing an education. Do your research on what’s available and what you may be eligible for, and make note of deadlines so you can apply for the opportunities on time.

One other thing to keep in mind is that many scholarships and grants expect students to file the FAFSA ® to be eligible for the opportunity. It’s often advisable to file the FAFSA ® as early as possible since some aid is awarded on a first come, first served basis.

Ukraine Scholarships 2024-2025

Photo of admin

Studying in Ukraine is becoming popular due to its quality of education, low tuition fees, and living costs. Enrolling in a program in Ukraine may be a perfect choice for many international students as the expenses are minimal compared to studying in cities in Western Europe.

With around 75,000 international students from roughly 150 countries around the globe, the most significant percentage of the international student body comes from India, along with Turkey, China, and Israel in the top 10.

Most international students pursue a degree in medicine, making Ukraine a highly-rated country for becoming a certified and internationally acknowledged medical practitioner. Most universities do not require prospective students to submit IELTS or TOEFL certification, and some even provide programs in international languages, such as English or French.

Getting a globally recognized international degree while exploring culturally diverse post-Soviet cities, churches, and the welcoming countryside is a great reason to get a Ukraine scholarship.

Living Costs in Ukraine for International Students

International students can live comfortably in Ukraine, as it is one of the most affordable European destinations for moving in to live and study. An annual budget ranging from $1,500 to 2500 can provide a comfortable living.

Excluding tuition fees and accommodation, average monthly expenses can range from $70 to 150, depending on the student’s lifestyle. For example, while staying in a one-bedroom apartment in Kyiv’s downtown can cost around $250 a month, accommodation outside the city center would cost half of it. A budget option is a stay in a shared room at a student dorm, which would amount to as little as $70.

Monthly food expenses can be minimal in a student cafeteria. While an occasional meal in a restaurant can cost around $5, it still does not break the budget of approximately $100 a month. Internet, textbook fees, and transportation cards would add up to an extra $50.

Can international students work in Ukraine?

While it may be legal to work in Ukraine with a student visa, getting a highly paid job is difficult. Unless a student has highly sought-for skills, it might be challenging to make around 400$ a month for a 40-hour workweek while studying.

Top Universities in Country:

According to QS World University Rankings of 2024, V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University is the top-rated Ukrainian university, ranked 477 globally. Located in the second-largest city – Kharkiv, this university gave the world three Nobel Laureates in sciences.

The second-rated is the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, famous for the widest variety of research fields in the country.

Kharkiv houses the third best-ranked Ukrainian university, National Technical University, also known as Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute, which has the highest reputation for research and education.

The fourth top-rated university is the National Technical University of Ukraine – “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute,” a leading institution for innovations.

Best Scholarships in Ukraine:

The UIEC Scholarship is a government-funded state scholarship in Ukraine. The UIEC is a top-class scholarship as it can fully cover the student’s tuition. That said, it is a highly competitive program with a limited and exclusive number of openings. Also, before applying for it, the applicant should first check if the home country offers a student exchange agreement with Ukraine.

There are two main types of students who can receive the UIEC scholarship award – gifted students and students from developing countries. In both cases, the home government must fully support and recommend either a talented student or a hard-working student who cannot afford to study abroad.

This rewarding experience comes with a flavor – this Ukraine scholarship includes learning about Ukrainian culture and tradition so that the prospective student would get in-depth knowledge of the country of stay.

2. Boren Awards

Students interested in social sciences, humanities, and liberal arts are also welcome to apply.

3. Education Future International Scholarship

The Education Future International Scholarship is an Indian government program that enables students from all over the world to study in any country of their choice, except for India. That being said, one of the main requirements is to be an Indian passport holder. Another requirement is proof of lower financial income to receive the grant.

This Ukraine scholarship covers half of the tuition fees, and the grantee would be required to return the other 50% of the scholarship received in the form of a loan. The EFIS fund offers scholarships from $13,500 to 67,000 (two to ten Indian lakhs).

As Ukraine is an affordable country for living and studying, many Indian students interested in MMBS would grab this opportunity to receive their dream degree in medical sciences.

How to visit Kiev in 4 days

By Joan Torres 10 Comments Last updated on December 28, 2023

travel to Kiev

The concept and perceptions of Kiev are a bit strange.

People who haven’t visited Kiev perceive it as a distant Eastern European city with close ties to Russia, a lot of apparent corruption and frequent protests going on.

The thing is that – as Bradt travel writer Michael Palin once said  – few stories in English romanticize Kiev and, for the last few years, with all the violent demonstrations and the ongoing war against Russia , many people from the West are even questioning the city’s safety and potential appeal.

Nevertheless, despite all these negative views, your perception of the capital changes radically as soon as you step into the city, because what you find is an extremely vibrant, energetic and beautiful capital with so much going on.

Kiev is, in fact, one of my favorite cities in the world, but I only discovered that upon my arrival, because Kiev is a city that, unexpectedly, tends to wow all its visitors.

There is just so much to do here, from visiting Baroque-style buildings to a large WWII Heritage, loads of Soviet things to see, a great bar scene and, basically, something going on in almost every corner.

Traveling to Kiev won’t disappoint you.

I spent two weeks in the city and this guide contains everything you need to know to visit Kiev , including transportation tips, the best places to stay and, of course, the best things to do in Kiev in a 4-day itinerary, including off the beaten track stuff.

In area, it is almost as big as Berlin and definitely bigger than Madrid or Paris, so it might easily be the 3rd or 4th largest city in Europe.

Despite its size, however, it only has 3 metro lines.

It also has an extensive tram and city bus system but, when you have to make a connection, it just takes forever to reach some places.

Visit Kiev on a guided tour CLICK HERE TO SEE ALL AVAILABLE TOURS IN KIEV

Moreover, many things to do in Kiev, as well as bars and restaurants, are scattered all around the city, so you can’t just leave where you are staying and expect to find everything along the way.

This means that visiting Kiev requires a bit of preparation and planning ahead, so that is why, in the itinerary section of this post, I thought it would be helpful to split all the places to visit in Kiev into area and day by day.

Kiev or Kyiv? The first day I posted something about Kiev on my Instagram Stories , I got a message from a young Ukrainian lady who was kind of upset because I spelled it Kiev instead of Kyiv. The fact is that Kyiv is the Ukrainian way of writing it and Kiev is the Russian transliteration, so given the current (and past) relationship between both countries, Ukrainians are a bit sensitive regarding this topic and, in any case, their spelling is the correct one, as the city was named after one of the three city’s founders, Kyi . As for me, in the article I am using Kiev because this is the term English-speaking people search for and, by any means, I don’t want to get political about it. In private, however, I will always spell it Kyiv.

How to move around Kiev

Metro – As I said above, Kiev has two metro lines and one ticket costs as little as 8UAH, which is the equivalent of 0.30€. Something that surprised me about Kiev’s metro is that it is always very busy, no matter the time of the day.

Trams and city buses – Slower option but both tram and bus can take you literally everywhere. Google Maps can easily tell you which bus or tram number you should take when planning your route.

Taxi – It is easier if you download a taxi app and Bolt seems to be the most popular one.

Best places to stay in Kiev

Wherever you stay, I strongly recommend you stay close to a metro station and, if possible, near the center.

Otherwise, getting back home every day can be a time-consuming experience.

Where to stay in Podil area

Podil is the fashionable neighborhood where you can find the old pre-Soviet architecture. It is attached to downtown, is very well-connected and here you will find a wide array of bars, restaurants, and cafés.

Backpacker Hostel – Dream Hostel Kiev – Top backpacking hostel in the city, with a great traveling atmosphere and great location. A really good place.

Budget Apartment – Danchenko’s Apartment – In Kiev, booking an apartment is a popular thing to do.

A good hotel – Bursa Hotel – A nicely decorated hotel with a trendy style in the heart of Podil.

Where to stay in Pecherski (downtown)

This is the area around Independence Square and where you can find some of the most famous landmarks such as Saint Sophia Cathedral.

Backpacker Hostel – Friends Forever – A great hostel at the heart of downtown.

Mid-range Hotel – Ukraine Hotel – Surprisingly, the famous hotel that overlooks Independence Square isn’t expensive at all.

Things to do in Kiev in 4 days

These are, in my opinion, the unmissable places of any Kiev itinerary.

Map of what to see in Kiev in 4 days

Each pin color refers to a different day of your Kiev itinerary

Day 1 – Things to do in Kiev around Pecherski

This is basically downtown and the first place you need to visit in Kiev is Independence Square, the most central square and from where you can do a loop while stopping by a couple of landmarks.

Independence Square

Or Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Ukrainian is one of the most beautiful and impressive squares I have ever visited in Europe , and one of the most symbolic as well, as Maidan has witnessed quite a few particularly violent and important revolutions, the last one being the Euromaidan , a series of demonstrations that lasted for several months back in 2014, when many people were murdered by the police.

You may remember these events because it was all over the news.

Today, at least during my visit, there is a permanent outdoor exhibition with photos and memorials from the protests.

As I said, I suggest you come here first but this is also one of the best places in Kiev to see the sunset.

Maidan Nezalezhnosti is definitely, one of the best things to see in Kiev.

Saint Sophia Cathedral

This gorgeous cathedral was the first place in Ukraine to be declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. As in many places around Ukraine , you need to purchase a separate ticket for each place within the complex, including general entrance, getting inside the cathedral, going up the bell tour, visiting museums, etc.

I think the general entrance cost me around 65UAH (2.40€) – which was already enough for me – but if you want to visit everything, you may need to spend nearly 10€.

Food tip – Between Saint Sophia and Golden Gate you will find the Milk Bar , a Ukrainian café specializing in fancy dairy products and traditional pastries. Everything they serve is amazing, seriously, and I recommend you order Ukrainian Syrniki , which are some sort of cottage cheese pancakes with sour cream and honey. Delicious.

Kiev itinerary

Golden Gate

This place is advertised everywhere as one of the best things to do in Kiev but, in my opinion, it’s pretty boring.

Basically, these are the last remains from what used to be Kiev before the Mongolian invasion in the 13th century. What I liked, however, is that there was always a street musician playing in front of the gates.

National Opera

A Viennese style building constructed in 1901. You can’t get inside unless you purchase tickets and you can check all the events on this link .

St. Volodymyr’s Cathedral

One of the most important Orthodox churches in Ukraine is the Little Prince-themed Volodymyr Cathedral, completed in 1896.

St. Volodymyr's Cathedral Kiev

Bessarabsky Market

This is one of the busiest markets in Kiev, and a cool place to take a break because inside there is a craft beer place and a pretty authentic Vietnamese food stall run by actual Vietnamese.

Bessarabsky Market Kiev

Day 2 – What to do in Kiev around Shevchenkivskyi

The area around Shevchenkivskyi and Pechersk Lavra is my most favorite place to visit in Kiev, as it contains a large variety of very different sights to check out.

Hydro Park (Island)

Nobody comes here but I seriously recommend you stop by.

Hydro Park is the island located in the Dnipro River right in front of the Lavra, and one of the top places to go in Kiev.

On the shores that overlook the Lavra, there is a restaurant serving beer and Khachapuri Megruli , and I swear it was the best Khachapuri I ever had outside of Georgia, and you can trust my judgment because I lived in Georgia for 7 months .

We were sitting under the sun, with a beer, an excellent khachapuri, the best views of the Lavra and there wasn’t anybody else around!

what to see in Kiev

Arsenalna metro station

According to the locals and Wikipedia , Arsenalna is the deepest metro station in the world (105m) but, according to other sources like World Atlas , there is an even deeper one in Pyongyang, North Korea (110m).

In any case, unless you travel to North Korea, Arsenalna is the deepest metro station you will ever see. To get out, you need to stand on the two escalators for nearly 4 minutes (I timed it).  By the way, this is the closest metro station to the Lavra.

Salute Hotel

The coolest Soviet thing to see in this part of Kiev is an old hotel with an extravagant cylindrical shape. It must be a pretty awesome hotel to stay for a few days, and it is not very expensive.

soviet architecture in Kiev

Holodomor Memorial

Holodomor, better known in the West as the Great Famine , was a famine that took place in the 30s when several million Ukrainians starved to death.

This unfortunate event, however, wasn’t a coincidence but it was a real genocide organized by Joseph Stalin himself in an attempt to eliminate Ukrainian nationalism.

There is so much to say about it and I recommend you read the full story here .

One of the most sobering, yet interesting, things to see in Kiev is visiting the Holodomor Memorial, which is also a museum where you can read several absolutely crazy stories from survivors of the Great Famine. A must-see.

Food tip – Before Salute Hotel, there is a traditional Ukrainian restaurant named Varenichnaya Katyusha that serves all sorts of local food and is always packed with Kievans. They have all types of Ukrainian dishes but their specialty is varenyky , which are the local dumplings.

Holodomor Memorial Kiev

Pechersk Lavra

The top tourist attraction in Kiev, Pechersk Lavra, is a massive Christian Complex and the headquarters for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Composed of several churches and cathedrals with white walls and shiny green and gold rooftops, Kiev Lavra is gorgeous, and spiritual. Most buildings you see here were built between the 11th and 18th centuries.

The general entry ticket costs 80UAH and it allows you to climb the bell tower, as well as visiting the cave. I think this is more than enough but, if you are interested in visiting the museums and entering other churches, you will have to purchase separate tickets for each.

places to visit in Kiev

Pechersky Park

This was something I wasn’t expecting.

On my way to the Great Patriotic Museum, I bumped into a military exhibition.

Well, not one, but a few so if you are into military tanks, planes, and helicopters, Pechersky park has several outdoor exhibitions containing all types of military arsenal. Pretty cool.

Some of the weaponry belongs to WWII and Soviet times but there are a couple of tanks (partially destroyed) that have been used during the ongoing war against Russia and each one has a plaque that tells the story of the tank and the soldiers that were riding in it. Some of the stories were pretty sad.

travel guide Kiev

Great Patriotic War Museum and Motherland Monument

Soviets refer to World War II as the Great Patriotic War because it was a real conflict and struggle to protect their motherland, the Soviet Union, and the massive titanium statue that overlooks Kiev, wearing a sword and a shield with the hammer and sickle, represents precisely that.

If you can only visit one museum in Kiev, it should be this one.

Would you like to visit the museum with a professional guide? CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE

Day 3 – Places to visit in Kiev around Podil

Podil area is the most European part of town.

Zhytniy Soviet Market

The best way to start your day is to check out this local market located in a Modernist Soviet building . It was built in 1982 and the interior is characterized by its peculiar roof.

Interesting to see in this market are all the salo stalls. I have never seen so many together. Salo is like slices of pork fat, very salty, and Ukrainians either have it as a snack or with borsch, the local beetroot soup. I found it pretty disgusting but for Ukrainians, it’s like a delicacy. Anyways, Zhytniy Market has tens of food stalls and the ladies will invite you to taste it.

things to see in Kiev

Chernobyl Museum

Extremely disappointing.

I don’t recommend you visit this museum because there is nothing to see, not even to read, and if you want to know about the nuclear disaster just book a tour to the exclusion zone . CLICK HERE TO BOOK A TOUR TO CHERNOBYL

Kontraktova Square and around

Podil’s center and where you find a lot of bars and restaurants.

Beer Tip – In Kontraktova Square, there is a beer store called Hop Hey that sells several types of craft draft beer to take away, a concept which I haven’t seen anywhere else. I think they have several shops across the city but, if you want to skip the overpriced beer of Kontraktova, Hop Hey is a great alternative (drinking in the street is allowed in Kiev).

Podil, Kiev

St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery

The place where this pyramid of bright domes is built dates from the 11th century but it was demolished under Stalin’s command in 1937 and rebuilt afterwards shortly after independence.

This is one of the most important religious places to visit in Kiev.

By the way, this monastery and the next places from the list are located in the upper part of Podil and to get there, you can get the funicular located right next to Poshtova Ploshcha metro station.

best things to do in Kiev

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

I like Ukraine because today, religious places get mixed and camouflaged among Soviet stuff, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is a clear example because this is an impressive concrete Soviet building placed right next to an important Christian site, St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery.

Saint Andrew’s Church

This Baroque-style church is one of the most emblematic things to do in Kiev, especially because from there, you get breathtaking views of Podil’s district. Check this great photo I took with my drone.

things to do in Kiev Ukraine

Kiev’s Old Town

Saint Andrew’s Church is the beginning of Kiev’s Old Town, a set of narrows alleys full of art galleries and painters that reminded me more of Paris than an Eastern European city.

Day 4 – Off the beaten track things to do in Kiev

If you are into quirky stuff, on your last day you may want to add the following places in your Kiev itinerary.

Tank Factory

Don’t get excited, not yet.

Around 20km from Kiev’s downtown, there is a functional tank factory but, as you may imagine, visits are not allowed.

The factory, however, has a tank graveyard which you may find if you are lucky because the industrial complex is huge. I personally walked all around the area and couldn’t find but I did find the tank road, which was a 500m muddy path full of tank marks that lead directly to a factory backdoor.

Doing what I did was illegal so be aware of that and, if you want to try your luck, this is the location: 50.420848, 30.702709. There is a metro stop (Chernovyi Khutir) 2 or 3km away.

college travel funding

Kiev Crematorium

A great example of Soviet Modernism, Kiev Crematorium is one of the most unique Soviet buildings in Ukraine. As you may imagine, it is located in the middle of a cemetery, a pretty big one.

When we visited it, there were two funerals and it was a bit awkward, so we left pretty quickly.

If you like weird stuff, don’t forget to check the 7 most offbeat things to visit in Belarus

Underground Kiev

To be very honest, I didn’t take this tour but one of the coolest things to do in Kiev is visiting its underground tunnel system and checking out a nuclear bunker from the Cold War.

Kiev Circus and Obelisk Hero City

Not that offbeat because it is not far from downtown, but if you are interested in Soviet stuff, you can check out the Soviet Circus and the Obelisk Hero City, which commemorates the defense of the city during WWII and which has a Gold Star on its top, a symbol of heroism in the Soviet Union.

Soviet Crematorium Kiev

Best day trips from Kiev

The capital of Ukraine is also an excellent base for doing a few cool day trips.

Chernobyl Exclusion Zone

You already know about Chernobyl , so I won’t go into details, but the exclusion zone is 150km north of Kiev and, if you want to visit it, you must go on a tour (you can’t visit it independently).

Strategic Missile Museum

Seriously, this was one of the best places I visited in the whole Ukraine, an old Soviet nuclear missile launch facility today turned into an awesome museum where, besides checking out all the military nuclear arsenal, you can also get into one of the silos and the underground control room. Really worth the trip and my full review is on its way.

144km northeast of Kiev you find Chernihiv, a UNESCO World Heritage city and one of the most beautiful in Ukraine, containing beautiful churches and old architecture.

Despite being so close to Kiev, not many travelers decide to take this day trip but I personally think it is an unmissable attraction to visit from Kiev.

For more day trips, you can read this post from Kathmandu and Beyond .

Hard to take anything you say seriously after stating in the very beginning that Kyiv has only two metro lines.. haha

You are right, it was a small mistake. It has 3, not 2. After Kiev, I flew to Minsk, which only has 2 metro stations, that’s why the confusion. In any case, it doesn’t change anything. The city is too big for just having 3 metro stations.

I was just wondering. If you have any guided tours.? Any of these places you go?

Thank you for such a deep and wide view of Kyiv. After reading this article, I’m inspired to explore some new places of this vibrant city you’ve mentioned, that I didn’t know about, despite being a Ukrainian.

Thanks Iryna! It was a pleasure meeting you in Lviv 🙂

Thanks for the helpful article (and your blog, generally)! Regarding the Strategic Missile Museum, how did you get down here? Is there public transit, and any memory of how much it would cost? Thanks.

Hey! It was around 15USD per person, more or less. I went there from Kharkiv, doing several train/bus/hitchhiking combinations. It took me 2 days!

Ohh! Thank you so much for these warm words and a review of Kyiv city! As a tour guide in Kyiv, I am happy to read pleasant words, not only critique..Kyiv can definitely impress those who come for the first time and almost all my guests always want to come back, and explore more of it!

This is such a great, helpful article! Kyiv is such a special city that I loved, and what’s happening in Ukraine right now is horrific and I’m praying it’s over imminently. The people are warm and friendly and I cannot wait to visit this beautiful city and people again one day.

I can’t believe how an update on 13th September 2023 can fail to mention the war! Which was what I was interested in. An earlier review on TripAdvisor mentioned how crowded buses were and the difficulties finding a seat on long haul routes such as to Warsaw. A much more useful review would contain practical information instead of just being another puff piece. So 5 out of 10 for highlighting places to visit.

Congress Passes Funding for Assistant Secretary for Travel and Tourism

I t’s the journalism equivalent of a Friday news dump. The United States Senate approved a package of six appropriations bills , including legislation to avoid a government shutdown and create funding for an Assistant Secretary for Travel and Tourism.

The bill's overwhelming passage took place on Friday just as a deadline loomed.

The bills now go to President Joe Biden's desk for approval. Together, they are more than 1,000 pages. This is a bipartisan negotiation.

It was also overwhelmingly passed by the House of Representatives earlier in the week.

Biden Expected to Sign Bill

Biden was expected to sign the bills into law today.

"Because obligations of federal funds are incurred and tracked on a daily basis, and the President will sign the bill (Saturday), agencies will not shut down and may continue their normal operations," the White House said in a statement.

There are still six more appropriations bills to be considered, although they do not involve travel.

U.S. Travel Association President and CEO Geoff Freeman was pleased with the outcome on Friday night.

“Funding this critical position is a step in ensuring the long-term global competitiveness of the United States. While other countries are laser-focused on growing their share of global travel, the U.S. has been stuck in neutral -- in part due to a lack of a coordinated, whole-of-government approach to increasing travel,” he said in a statement.

“The Assistant Secretary will play a valuable role in coordinating across the government to help innovate travel facilitation and address persistent challenges that stand in the way of growth. This position will also be integral as the U.S. prepares to host significant international events over the next decade -- including the World Cup -- and compete for a greater share of the global travel market. U.S. Travel thanks congressional leaders for funding this key government position. We also urge the Biden administration to immediately fill the role and prioritize the travel economy to benefit American workers and all regions across the United States.”

News Kyiv City Ballet to Perform at OCCC

Kyiv city ballet to perform at occc, occc is the only oklahoma stop on u.s. tour.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (June 28, 2022) — Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) will host the Kyiv City Ballet this fall in the troupe’s only stop in the state. The two shows on Oct. 9 are part of the Kyiv City Ballet’s inaugural tour of the United States.

“We are honored to welcome the world-renowned Kyiv City Ballet to OCCC on their historic U.S. tour,” said OCCC President Dr. Mautra Staley Jones. “Our Visual and Performing Arts Center consistently attracts high caliber talent, and the Kyiv City Ballet is no exception. We are honored and privileged to have the ballet here for Oklahomans to experience and enjoy.”

The day before Ukraine was invaded in February, the Kyiv City Ballet unknowingly took one of the last flights out of Kyiv. The company flew to Paris to begin a long-planned tour and have not returned home.

“We are honored to share the beauty of ballet with U.S. audiences, through Ukranian artists,” said Ivan Kozlov, Kyiv City Ballet artistic director. “Touring the States for the first time with a range of ballets makes an important global statement. It demonstrates the resilience of the Ukrainian people.”

The U.S. tour will feature a full-length Swan Lake, excerpts from Les Sylphides and Carmen,  and several works by Ukrainian choreographers: Thoughts , a contemporary ballet, choreographed by Vladyslav Dobshynskyi; Tribute to Peace , a neo-classical work, choreographed by Kyiv City Ballet’s Artistic Director, Ivan Kozlov; and Men of Kyiv , a Ukranian folk dance, choreographed by Pavlo Virsky. The two programs at OCCC will include selected works from that repertoire.

Two of Ukraine’s prima ballerinas, Krystina Kadashevych and Oksana Bondarenko, will perform with the company on their U.S. tour. The company’s principal dancer is Vsevolod Maevskiy, a former soloist of the Mariinsky Ballet and Kozlov’s former student.

The Kyiv City Ballet will perform at OCCC’s Visual and Performing Arts Center on Oct. 9 at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. The performances are part of OCCC’s 2022-2023 Performing Arts Series. Season tickets for the series go on sale to the general public on July 5. Single tickets for the Kyiv City Ballet go on sale on August 1. For more information, go to tickets.occc.edu or call the OCCC Box Office at 405.682.7579.

With more than 60 majors to choose from and more than 40 student-led clubs and organizations, Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) offers an affordable, accredited college education with associate degrees, certifications, non-credit classes and leadership opportunities to more than 17,000 students annually.
