Flawless Agent and Tour

Jan 23, 2024 - From the beginning to the end the organisation’s of this tour was flawless, Omer who organised it for us was exceptional and i can’t thank him enough, communication was prompt and easy while at home and during the tour. We wanted to add a few extra tours, add and remove days in places and this was not a problem. I’m not sure if it’s just the way Omer organised it or if it was just as it was but for some reason we felt we got priority and the royal treatment all they way during our trip. we went with the upgraded delux rooms which was not much more than the standard and the rooms and hotels we got were absolutely amazing - I like fancy and usually book all my own rooms and hotels but i was amazed and found myself saying i couldn’t have booked better myself. The small tour groups we were put on were very well organised and all a fantastic experience with great guides. we meet other people along the way that had booked with different tour companies that we’re very stressed and tired and had to miss day trips including their balloon flight (the major highlight of Turkey) due to sleep deprivation as their agent didn’t book reasonable travelling times to the next tours and destinations. We were pleased our experience was very different to theirs and our tour was planned without rushing around to get to the next location on a wink of sleep, making our journey very stress free and enjoyable. My heart goes out to Omer for organising such a wonderful trip for us, he did everything, we did not have to do a thing but enjoy the holiday, Turkey was amazing, the local people are very friendly and welcoming we felt valued to them in their country we also felt safe at all times. PS You can’t go to Turkey with out doing the ballon flight in Cappadocia, it was incredible and then go up to the viewing deck the next morning at sunrise it’s worth both the early morning wake up trust me ( and i’m not an early morning person at all lol ) Omer was able to get cheaper deluxe ballon flights than we could get ourselves it was worth letting him book everything for us and made it so much easier. Thank you Omer we couldn’t have done it with out you Many thanks Melanie & Anet - Perth, Australia

Cappadocia Tour

Cappadocia Tour

DAY 1: After breakfast at our hotel, we set out for Cappadocia. Cappadocia consists of three parts, namely Başhisar, Ortahisar and Uçhisar. Uçhisar Castle is the highest area among them. Uçhisar Castle: It is the biggest fairy chimney of Cappadocia. You can reach the summit by stairs from inside and outside the castle. It contains carved tombs, jars and a large cistern. The view is worth seeing. You can watch Cappadocia, which is covered with vast fairy chimneys, from a bird's eye view. After our Uçhisar castle tour, we set out for Güvercinlik Valley. Güvercinlik Valley: It got its name from the pigeon nests carved into the rocks. The people of the region have benefited from their manure and eggs by feeding pigeons for years. Afterwards, we pass to a point where we can watch the Göreme Valley panoramically and take a coffee break. Then we go to the onyx stone workshop to watch the construction phase of the onyx stone used in jewelry and ornaments. Here you can buy jewelry and ornaments. Then we go to our restaurant for lunch. Our fisrt stop after Lunch is Pasabag Valley. Paşabağ Valley: The valley that hosts the most beautifully preserved fairy chimneys of the region. In addition to the giant fairy chimneys, there is a chapel built in the name of St. Simon in the valley. After completing our valley tour, we set out for Göreme Open Air Museum. Göreme Open Air Museum: This is considered to be the place where the monastic education system was started. In this area, there are rock churches, chapels, dining halls and sitting areas. The Bible and Jesus Christ are depicted on the frescoes in the churches. On our tour of the museum, we see the Monastery of Girls and Boys, the Church of St. Basileus, the Yılanlı Church, the Dark Church, the Çarıklı Church and the Tokalı Church. This place takes place in the UNESCO World Heritage List. After visiting the open air museum, we set out for our hotel. Our guests can attend the Turkish Night Dinner if they wish. Accommodation is in Cappadocia.

DAY 2: After breakfast at our hotel, we set out for Derinkuyu Underground City.

Derinkuyu Underground City: It can accommodate a large number of people and meet their needs. Unlike other underground cities, our underground city tour includes the missionary school, the confessional, the baptismal pool and the well. The place, which consists of interconnected rooms, is connected by narrow tunnels that only one person can pass through. After completing our Derinkuyu tour, we set out for Narlıgöl. Narlıgöl: It is stated that it is good for various diseases because it is very rich in calcium, sodium and bicarbonate. It is thought that the healing water, which is suitable for the treatment of rheumatic and skin diseases, especially psoriasis, is also good for blood circulation, heart, vein, blood pressure and neurological diseases. In addition, the use of appropriate doses also offers heliotherapy. It creates a romantic heart-shaped look where you get low water level. After visiting the crater lake that is one of nature's best gifts to us, we go to our restaurant for lunch. After lunch, a green walk awaits us. We set off for the Ihlara Valley. Ihlara Valley: This is the world's largest canyon in which people live. The valley, which forms a whole with both history and nature, contains the Melendiz Stream. We take a long and fascinating walk from the riverside to the area where the churches and chapels are located. During the walk, you come across impressive rock carvings. After our valley tour, we settle in our hotel. Accommodation is in Nevşehir. DAY 3:

We leave our hotel in the morning and set off for the airport.

  • 916gm 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Incredible Place. Superbly Organized. Looking forward to returning. Everything about this visit was perfect, and the careful planning from Selene Travel was very appreciated. Visiting Catalhuyuk and seeing all of the work at this site was incredible; that can be an overused word, but in this case it fits. Since being designated a UNESCO site, there is a new visitor's center, and the work that has gone into this is worldclass. You will be amazed at the layout and information. Top notch. The best part, though, was the thoughtful guidance from Mete Bey and Fatma Hn. Informed, knowledgeable and just great people. You will be so glad you connected with Selene Travel. • Compass19356192512 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Amazing place In this write-up, I will not talk about the historical aspects of this Kilistra ancient site. You can read about this on the internet. I will try here to shed light on a few areas that might be important to prospect visitors. 1. This place is about a 50-minute drive southwest from Konya. The road is paved. It consists of a good highway until you take the Kilistra Exit (14.5 Kms before reaching the destination) where it becomes a 2-way rural road, still well paved but unlit at night. You will also find that you’re the only one on this road, hardly encountering another moving vehicle even in broad daylight on a working day. Please use a car having good conditions with a good spare tire and tire changing kit. It will be very difficult if you face a car breakdown on this road where traffic is scarce, particularly if you don’t speak Turkish. Have a working GSM phone anyway and leave before dark. 2. Follow the Google Maps instructions and drive slower as you get closer if you want to reach the destination without difficulty. It took me a long time to reach it because there are no pertinent road signs and the last 200 meters consist of a narrow road (a right-turn exit) that can be hardly noticed. I went by it several times, noticed it, but thought it is a private road for livestock or agricultural equipment. 3. This particular type of settlement (i.e. ancient habitats carved in rocky wall-shaped formations) can be seen at other nearby locations as well. You can see them when you look around or climb on top of the rocky walls using the existing old staircase. I visited only this spot named “Kilistra Tarihi Yer” (it is the same site appearing in a nearby Maps pin called "Ancient City of Lystra") but if you have time you may wish to visit a couple more. I can see that there is a “Kilistra Katır İni” on the map, not far from here. 4. If you are fond of historical places like me, you will love this one. Thinking about how life was in those dug holes and experiencing the feeling is intriguing. I went up the stairs and visited each room. Among the carved rooms you will find a very small church, perhaps 3 x 3 meters, with a tiny burial chamber annexed to it. The place resembles Cappadocia but on a smaller scale. 5. It is sad that the place is not getting attention from the tourism authorities. It is unguarded, thus open to vandalism and defacement. I could notice the remains of barbecue fires, food leftovers, etc. In my view, visiting this historical place is not to be missed if you happen to be in Türkiye. Read more Written December 30, 2023
  • 150anahitaa 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles That's Awesome! After a last-minute decision on Sunday, I scheduled the tour for my parents for the next day. As soon as I booked the tour, Mete Horzum gave me a call to give me instructions. Since my parents were in Ankara, we couldn't buy train or bus tickets online to travel to Konya because of the language barrier. I got updates on my parents from the guy who took care of everything for us. He did a great job and my parents were satisfied. I very much appreciate his excellent service! We highly recommend you take this tour! Read more Written December 4, 2023

It was organised very well, due to this tour we could get most of konya sufism details just in one day. Hussain was extremely helpful and kind. He explained everything in detail and made us comfortable during the whole trip. The driver and owner of this tour was amazing as well. Was easy to contact them and pickup and drop was on time from airport. Everyone should visit the tombs of Mevlana and Shams Tabirizi atleast once to experience the peace and blessings. • dynasdao 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Highlight of Turkey! Highly recommend! My partner and I did this private Rumi tour in July 2023. Our tour guide was Hussain. We absolutely loved the whole day and highly recommend this tour and our tour guide. Hussain is extremely knowledgeable about the history of Konya, Rumi, and Sufism. We visited the important Rumi landmarks in the area and Hussain was also able to customize the day based on our interests. We are huge fans of the book "40 Rules of Love" which explores the journey of Shams of Tabriz & Rumi... so it was incredible to witness the real life version of it all. Given our keen interest in Sufism, Hussain also introduced us to a local Sufi master and we had the joy of having a long conversation with this teacher and ask him questions to our hearts content. For any spiritual practicioner or mystic, this was priceless. The places that are picked in the tour are brilliant, the restaurants are awesome, the tour guide is amazing and so is the driver, Issa! It was an incredibly satisfying day. We are so grateful to have met Hussain and learned more about the history of the area from him. Overall it was an 11/10 experience for us. This tour was THE highlight of our entire Turkey trip (because we're such huge Sufi fans). We intend to come back to Konya after this experience! Thanks for creating an amazing day for us to deeply exprience, Rumi, Shams, Mysticism, Sufism & unconditional divine love. Read more Written November 29, 2023

Mete, the main person of contact, is really awesome and really goes the extra mile when giving tours. Especially since last time we couldnt get to everything in first tour of Konya due to time. As stated before, highly recommend using Selene Travel. Not only you gain appreciation for history of Konya and Cappadocia but future trip recommendations. • Arif S 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Highly recommend if you want to learn about Mevlana Rumi and Konya Mete Horzum and Selene Travel do an excellent job and I highly recommend scheduling a tour with them if you plan to visit the blessed city of Konya. We did the “Highlights of Konya” tour. Because we have small children and due to unforeseen travel issues, we had to make last minute adjustments to our tour, but Mete and his team were extremely accommodating. We also made special requests as needed to accommodate our schedule. Selene Travel tour guides have a long history with the city of Konya and have an incredible amount of knowledge of Mevlana Rumi. If you gave an interest in learning about Mevlana Rumi and the history of Konya, Selene Travel will not disappoint. Also, some tips for tourists who are also visiting Istanbul during your travels to Türkiye — I would recommend shopping in Konya instead. Konya has some incredible shops run by local artisans. Also, general shopping for clothing, gifts, etc. is much better priced in Konya. Selene Travel can provide some recommendations if needed. Read more Written September 18, 2023

Our guide Fatma provided information about this particular Sufi order that even I as a student of Sufism did not know. It was a wonderful tour to get a first-hand experience about the life of Mevlana. In addition, the tour company arranged for us to see an authentic Sema ceremony. This was the highlight of the tour for me. Thank you SELENE travel. Read more Written September 3, 2023

Mete and Fatima planned the trip perfectly and tailored to our family needs. Lunch was lovely and again Mete/ Fatima were very hospitable and accommodating in selecting a lunch venue. The mosque was commissioned by and named for, Sultan Selim II (1566-74) in the Ottoman style.
