The next time you are looking for San Diego Winery Tours we have a clear cut suggestion you may have not considered before… Baja Winery Tours in the Valle de Guadalupe in Baja California Mexico. Yes, people often looking for wine tasting tours or winery tours in San Diego don’t realize how close they are to one of the hippest, un-and-coming regions anywhere when it comes to wine. Those who are in the “The know” are already aware of the wine adventures border tours can bring.

In this case we are recommending Crossing South “The Experience” a tour crafted after the popular PBS travel show with the same name. We have to say that there are many baja border tours but this is one you will want to take instead. They have “cookie cutter” packages but they tell you and encourage you to either customize your tour based on what you’ve seen on the TV show or just tell them a little of what you’d like to experience and trust they will create the perfect itinerary for you. This includes wild foodie tours, because if you’ve seen the show you’ll realize that although the Valle de Guadalupe is an amazing region on its own, Baja has a lot more to offer.

So winery tours? Yes, but if you’d like to add incredible food to that order then these guys have you covered. Now many of the wineries they will take you too have some of the best food you will ever taste on premises. A great example of this, is one of one of the wineries where they took us: La Villa del Valle. Listen if we had spent our entire day on the premises of this delightful B&B/world class restaurant/winery it would have been worth the trip. But that’s just it, private day trips in to Baja with tour like Crossing South The Experience don’t have to be wine tasting tours only.

A day trip to Mexico from San Diego can include a stop at the famous Puerto Nuevo Baja California where you can have some of that deliciously famous Puerto Nuevo lobster (Makes Red Lobster food seem like a Big Mac). There are also accommodations you can consider if you want to make more than a day trip. If you loved the lobster so much you want to have another go at it you could stay at Puerto Nuevo hotel which would be a convenient strategical location if you wanted to choose between the Wine Valley, Rosarito, Ensenada or Tijuana. The Valle de Guadalupe has some nice hotels as well in some of the wineries and restaurants like next to Fuego, which is a cool complex with chic accommodations and the El Cielo Winery which just completed full hotel and condo resort. The caveat here is these places are a bit overpriced for our taste, you can easily drop $300-$600 a night at some of these sites, so ouch.

If you are going to travel to Mexico and you want to extend your stay, your number one option should be to stay at a hotel in Tijuana, YES in Tijuana. They have really high quality accommodations with excellent customer service and clean rooms. Almost any tour of the premier tour operators will pick you up at the border or at your Tijuana hotel and subsequently drop you off on the same location.

In the case of Crossing South The Experience , they will pick you up anywhere in San Diego county, drive you across and drive you back (There is more to it, you need to bring documentation and when you cross back to the U.S there is a protocol but they will explain it to you). When we were looking for wine tour San Diego, I have to say pictures of Baja Mexico had not crossed my mind as an option. We love wine, and if we are not looking for a San Diego wine store we are looking for a wine tasting tour. But now, thanks to the boys at Crossing South The Experience (Thank you) we want to experience Baja wine more and more. We want a San Diego Mexico tour! A San Diego Puerto Nuevo lobster tour! All we want now are private day trips to Baja and our choice is Crossing South The Experience… not a bad way to spend a day from 9am-6pm.

Adventure in tecate, valle de guadalupe, wine tasting private tour.

This tour has it all!! Great for kids and the whole family! Let us take you on a great adventure to the country side of Tecate.

We'll drive for 1 hour among the mountains of Baja, east of Valle de Guadalupe and take you to an amazing private ranch "Rancho Tecate". Once there, a number of different outdoor adventures await you! Try zip lining across the lake, do some hiking and mountain biking, swim or row in a canoe. Full SPA service also available if you just want to disconnect yourself from the world. Get a massage, a facial or hot stone treatment while drinking wine and eating cheese. Lunch is served outdoors so you can enjoy an equestrian show  by the Andalusian and Arabian horses. Lunch includes juice cuts of steak and pork on the grill, lots of organic vegetables and amazing desserts. After the outdoor activities and lunch, we will let you try the best craft beer in the region and do some tequila and mezcal tastings. The whole experience can be done in a day but if you want to take it slow, ask about our “Rancho Tecate” overnight stay package.

This is an all inclusive, all day private tour that begins from San Diego. Minimum of six guests for the tour to run. Kids welcome!!!

Tour Itinerary:

Pick up from San Diego (location to be determined by customer).

Cross the border into Mexico via Tecate/Campo east of San Diego.

Visit the town of Tecate (main plaza, downtown and cerveceria Tecate).

Arrival at "Rancho Tecate" for a full tour of the facilities.

Start outdoor adventures. Your chance to try zip lining, horseback riding, canoe rowing, biking, hiking or whatever makes you tick!!

Lunch outdoors (on the grill with organic vegetables) while enjoying an equestrian show.

Time to do some tastings of mezcal and tequila from Jalisco and craft beer from the region.

Head back home.

Drop off at your location in San Diego.

Enjoy an unforgettable all day, all inclusive wine tasting private tour to Valle de Guadalupe. You will be picked up at your location of preference and driven south across the border without having to get out of the transport. Once in Mexico, you will enjoy an easy one hour drive along the Pacific Scenic route towards Ensenada. During whale season you can actually spot a few whales along the way! Sufficient restroom stops if necessary. Once in Ensenada, we’ll go east for ten more minutes into wine country! By 11am you will be enjoying delicious reserve wine from Valle de Guadalupe! You will visit three boutique wineries with wine tastings included, get a tour of the winemaking process and enjoy a delicious BajaMed, five course, lunch at Finca Altozano by famous chef Javier Plascencia. This is a private tour aboard a luxury 6-14 passenger van with air conditioning and reclining seats. Only the people from your party will come along in your transport. No strangers! Plenty of legroom and free bottles of drinking water will be provided to each passenger! You are also welcome to bring your own drinks too (no large ice boxes). Tour Itinerary:

Depart from San Diego (from your address) en route to Ensenada via the Pacific Scenic highway. 10:30 am

Quick five minute stop at "El Mirador" so you can use the restroom, stretch your legs, enjoy the view of Ensenada Bay, take pictures and buy Mexican candy. 11:00 am

Visit to winery #1 for wine tastings and a tour of the wine making process. 12:30 pm

Visit to winery #2 for more delicious wine and complimentary cheese platter for everyone. 2:00 pm

Lunch at Finca Altozano (five course set menu composed of delicious BajaMed recipes by chef Javier Plascencia). 3:30 pm

Visit to third and final winery for more top of the line wine and relaxation. 5:00 pm

Leave the valley and head back to U.S. 7:30 pm

Drop off in San Diego. End of tour.

Enjoy a private all-inclusive wine tasting tour (9 am to 7:30 pm) to Valle de Guadalupe. In the morning, you’ll be picked up at your location of preference and driven south across the border in a private luxury van . The air-conditioned van seats 6-14 passengers with reclining seats and plenty of legroom. For those who prefer privacy, the only people you need to communicate with is your party and tour guide.

Once in Mexico, you will enjoy an easy one hour drive along the Pacific Scenic Route towards Ensenada. Stop over at El Mirador for a view of the bay. During whale season, you may spot a few whales in the water.  Baja whale watching is a favorite activity and, if needed, we can stop for a closer view or bathroom break. Once in beautiful Ensenada, we’ll go east for ten more minutes into the Baja wine country. By 11 am, you’ll be enjoying delicious reserve wine from Valle de Guadalupe!

The private wine tour includes visit to three boutique wineries with complimentary wine tastings. In between enjoying wine, you explore the winemaking process through a guided wine tour.  We will also stop for lunch at the highly-reviewed Finca Altozano. Chef Javier Plascencia will prepare a four-course set menu of organic BajaMed dishes.

Notes : Complimentary bottles of drinking water will be provided for each passenger. You’re welcome to bring your own drinks too, but no large ice coolers please. Passport required. Kids welcome in private tours but must be 18+ to try the wine.

To be picked up at your location, your address must be south of Mission Valley.

Wineries will be picked by the tour operator one week prior to the date of your tour.

One of the most important and fast-growing wine-making areas in the country is located in northern Mexico. The best wine tour is in Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California. The region has been developed for just over 100 years, and it has become an exceptional tourist attraction.

Only 20 km away from Ensenada, the weather in this region is warm Mediterranean, with temperatures from 33°C in August and September to -5°C in January and February, ideal to cultivate grapevines.

With its Italo-Californian architectural design, well-tended gardens surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, the experience begins from the moment you arrive at El Cielo Resort in Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California. A day at El Cielo Resort and the wine route

Come to El Cielo Resort and live a Tuscan-like experience. Start by having breakfast at our restaurant called Polaris. Then, see Harris’s hawks and what they do in our vineyards along the wine route. Later, our expert sommeliers will teach you about the grapevines and how they are harvested, while you taste our Blancs Calypso wine.

After that, enjoy a tour of our underground wine cellar, where you can taste the wine directly from the barrels. Continue with a self-guided tour around the vineyard in a golf cart. At lunchtime, enjoy a 4-course meal paired with our wines at the terrace of our Latitud 32 restaurant. Finally, take part in a wine tasting with chocolate at our exclusive Wine Club Lounge.

This tour is a wagon ride around the vineyards, where the guide explains the process of the grapevines during the year, the history of Valle de Guadalupe and El Cielo winery, one of the best vineyards in Mexico, while you enjoy tasting 3 different wines. An experience for families, friends or couples.

Saturdays and Sundays 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Golf cart rental

Take a golf cart tour of the vineyards owned by El Cielo Resort in Valle de Guadalupe with your family or friends and admire the landscapes, our orchard, olives and vines. Rent is for 30 minutes. Valid ID and deposit required, the driver must be an adult.

Wine cellar

Enjoy a tour of our vineyards while the guide explains the process that the vines go through during the year, the history of Valle de Guadalupe and El Cielo winery with a tasting of 3 different wines. After that, there is a tasting in the underground wine cellar, where a certified sommelier will guide you through the fermentation tank and barrel areas. Finally, you will taste 5 different El Cielo wines.

BIKE TOUR VALLE DE GUADALUPE

Combine your passion for wine and outdoor activities with a bike adventure in Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California. The rental is for 30 minutes at no additional cost for our guests.

Build your own wine

Assemble your own wine with El Cielo wines and with the help of our expert sommeliers and fermentation team after touring our vineyards and wine cellar, tasting some of our wines during the tour.

Wine tastings

Experience tasting one of the wines of the Champagne winery with the most awards this century. This experience involves a guided tasting of 3 Champagne wines Piper-Heidsieck (Cuvée Brut, Rosé Sauvage and Cuvée sublime) with 4 oz of each wine. Duration: 45 min
