Killer Mike’s new solo album MICHAEL will be released on June 16 via Loma Vista. The record will introduce the world to the totality of Michael Render, a lifelong rap fiend whose consciousness is seeped in the sounds of the community that raised him–multiple eras of southern rap flows, Sunday church service, and barbershop discourse. The album is his most autobiographical and independent album to date.
So far, the rapper has shared three singles from MICHAEL – the El-P-produced “Don’t Let The Devil,” “Run,” and “Talk’n That S__t.” Before “Run” was released, the song appeared in a Killer Mike-starring nationally televised Cadillac campaign, “Black Future” for the Escalade V Series, which debuted in June 2022.

On June 16, Killer Mike will officially unveil his long-awaited MICHAEL album. The project is said to feature appearances from the likes of Lil Wayne, André 3000, 6LACK , and Dave Chappelle. Along with the release date announcement, fans also received the first single, “Don’t Let The Devil,” a collaboration with El-P, Thank You Good Sir, No I.D., and Little Shalimar.
Today (May 1), the Georgia-born emcee revealed he will be hitting the road this summer for his “The High and Holy Tour.” The 19-date run marks his first major solo outing since touring in support of his 2012 album, R.A.P Music . “The High and Holy Tour” kicks off in July 10 in Birmingham and will makes its way to major cities like Nashville, Chicago, and Los Angeles before wrapping up on Aug. 5 in New Orleans.
“My life truly is a testimony for what happens when you show up and keep believing something is calling you to do better for yourself,” the rapper said during a listening session of his at SXSW earlier this year. “I don’t know what’s after this life, but I will treasure this night for the rest of my life.”
The aforementioned R.A.P. Music LP featured appearances from Bun B , Trouble, Scar, Emily Panic, and more across 12 total tracks. Outside of his own releases, Killer Mike could be heard dishing out guest verses on tracks like Big Boi’s “Thom Pettie,” Snoh Aalegra’s “Bad Things (Remix),” Freddie Gibbs’ “Palmolive,” and more.

Born, Michael Render and hailing from Atlanta Georgia is an artist widely known as Killer Mike, who has built up a reputation as a hip-hop artist, with an impressive top 10, debut album under his belt.
Killer Mike’s career started to take off when he crossed paths with the producers, The Beat Bullies and Outkast’s Big Boi, through whom, he landed a feature on their song “Snappin’ & Trappin’”, from the album ‘Stankonia’. It put his name firmly on the map and he built a career around it. He also featured on “Poppin’ Tags” by Jay-Z.
With a couple of recognizable accolades to his name, Killer Mike decided to record his debut album entitled “Monster” on March 11th 2003. It was released through the prestigious Columbia Records and peaked at number 10 on the Billboard 200, and number 4 on the Billboard R&B charts. The second single from the album, “A.D.I.D.A.S”, made it to number 60 on theBillboard 200, and number 22 in the UK Singles Chart, building Killer Mike’s international following. Despite receiving moderate critical acclaim, Killer Mike’s, sophomore album “I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind”, release on November 21st 2006, didn’t chart, however, “I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind II” released on July 8th 2008, managed to make the charts climbing to number 9 on the Rap Charts. His following record, “Underground Atlanta”, released on August 31st 2009, fortunately maintained a similar chart reputation to its predecessor, despite not making it into the Billboard 200. “PLE3GE” saw a deserved return to the chart, peaking at number 115 on the chart, with his career only growing further, with “R.A.P. Music” making it to number 82 in the Billboard 200 and number 8 in the Rap Chart. Complex dubbed the album the 32nd best from 2012, and it was number 20 on Rolling Stone’s top 50 albums of 2012.
Live reviews
I'm not being overdramatic when I say watching Killer Mike was one of the best concerts I've ever been to in my life.
Killer Mike is a big guy but he puts more energy into his shows than just about anyone out there. Unlike some rappers, he doesn't phone in any part of his performance. His music is loud, energetic music that really gets the crowd going and this sort of thing translates great to a live show.
One thing that I was a little surprised at when I saw Killer Mike was how his show was almost like a motivational speaker in between songs. He gives these uplifting speeches that really make you connect with him better and it all just makes Killer Mike come off as a really likeable guy. You wouldn't expect a guy with "killer" as part of his name to be like that.
In conclusion, if you have the chance to see Killer Mike and are on the fence about it at all, you should do it in a heartbeat. I don't see how you could be disappointed. Even if you only know him from his Outkast songs you should still check him out when he comes to your town as either a solo act or as part of Run the Jewels.

Killer Mike’s ‘Down By Law Tour’ UK and Europe dates are:
AUGUST 19 – Paradiso, Amsterdam, Netherlands 22 – National Stadium, Dublin, Ireland 23 – O2 Academy, Glasgow, UK 26 – O2 Forum, Kentish Town, London, UK 27 – Albert Hall, Manchester, UK 29 – Bataclan, Paris, France 30 – Carlswerk Victoria, Cologne, Germany
Speaking to NME about the release , the artist said the record “was an opportunity for people to know fully who I am”.
He explained: “I realised this is 20 years in the game and people have met the persona of Michael – they’ve met Killer Mike, who was named in a rap battle at 16 and is the product of a nine-year-old’s daydream of being an MC… They’ve known me as one half of one of the greatest rap groups ever, Run the Jewels, but they hadn’t met Michael.
“With Covid happening and with me getting incredibly sick for two weeks before they even named it Covid and seeing people leave too soon, I thought: ‘Man, what a shame it’d be for me to die and people not get introduced to me. So while I’m here, let me give opportunity for people to know fully who I am.’”
The artist made headlines last month when he was arrested at the 2024 Grammys .
The Los Angeles police department later said Mike had been taken into custody in relation to a physical altercation inside the event venue and booked on a charge of misdemeanour battery. After the event, the rapper said that he “will be cleared of all wrongdoing”.
During a recent appearance on The View , Mike spoke about the chain of events , saying: “All of my heroes have been in handcuffs – Malcolm, Martin, Mandela, Medgar. I walked out with the same dignity and respect that I walked in with, and I would implore people to just take that from it.”
He did not go onto share details of the alleged skirmish, but he did later say that he had been “overzealous” when celebrating his wins backstage.

It comes at a busy time for the Run The Jewels rapper, who appeared on Apple Music 1 last month and revealed that MICHAEL is the first album in a trilogy, “The first album we got to kinda take the nine-year-old to where I’ve grown into as an adult, but I wanna cut deeper. There’s deeper levels to go, you know. We already plotting out what the next one’s gonna be, me and Cuz Lightyear were in the studio with Mike Will the next night. And we working.
“I just wanna work and produce works of art that’s gonna live long after I’m gone. So I can’t do that celebrating this too long. The celebration is fun, but after this, when I get back to Atlanta, I’ll be working.”
Killer Mike was recently in the news after winning three Grammys for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance.
