Cubby helps create a calming environment that promotes self regulation and minimizes meltdowns.
Innovative Design. Safer Sleep.
Cubby's advanced features make it the top choice for safety-conscious parents, but its thoughtfully crafted design is what will capture your kiddo's heart.
Sensory + Monitoring Features
App enabled, camera + mic, circadian light, sound machine, motion detection, safety alerts, loved by families. trusted by doctors..
I have gotten more sleep in the last 3 weeks than I have in 3 years!
She has also been falling asleep more easily since being in her new bed! We are so blessed and thankful. The Cubby Bed team answered all questions quickly and efficiently.
The very first night in his Cubby we set the circadian light for 5 minutes and watched the monitor. He fell asleep less than 2 minutes after the light turned off. I only heard him once during the night and that was him adjusting to a new sleeping position. Never could I have imagined he could get a night's rest THAT GOOD.
I have witnessed the transformative power of sensory environments in enhancing well-being and I will always recommend Cubby to my patients for its profound sensory design, durability, and safety. I’m truly impressed with the thoughtful creation of the sensory aspects to create such a calm and safe sleep environment.
Perfect bed for our extremely active three-year-old who figured out how to get out of cribs, tumble around and roll sleeping tents, and flip out of other tents advertised to keep kids safe. None did. But the Cubby bed keeps him safe and gives us peace of mind.
I was starting to get used to the fact that we would be sleep deprived for the rest of our lives. My son would wake all hours of the night waking my girls, my husband, and myself constantly.
He slept through the night…no joke…every night for 2.5 weeks after getting our Cubby! This is a miracle!
Our four-year-old daughter is very inquisitive and loves to explore the house at night when she wakes up. Because of the Cubby Bed she is able to sleep better throughout the night and we can rest knowing that she is safe. This has been a blessing to our family.
This bed literally means safety, wellness, and peace of mind for myself and my daughter. I no longer have to worry about her safety at night. I can sleep in my own bed alone again and I will be alerted through the app thanks to the motion sensors and camera.
Prior to this bed, I barely slept. Now, I can look through the camera and make sure he is ok, put on relaxing music, dim the light, and check the temp all from the comfort of my phone. Our Cubby is a miracle for our family.

Helping Your Baby Reach Greater Wonders
The Safety Sleeper: A Versatile and Safe Special Needs Bed Solution
As the parent of a special needs child, your life is unique. No two special needs families are the same, even though we often refer to “special needs” as if it can encompass all of our children’s interests, hardships, circumstances, idiosyncrasies and medical needs.
However, there is one thing so many of us struggle with: Sleep.
Your child’s sleep problems may not be the same as mine, but more often than not, kids with special needs have individual and distinct issues that prevent them from sleeping soundly and safely.
Does any of this apply to you?
- My child gets up and roams around at night
- My child has seizures and needs to be safely monitored and enclosed
- My child seeks sensory input and pulls apart their bedding
- My child has low tone and can get stuck between the mattress and bed frame
- My child has pica and chews on the bedding and bed frame
- My child is incontinent and often needs clean bedding
- My child can be aggressive and needs a safe space where they can calm down
- My child sometimes engages in fecal smearing and their bedding needs to be sanitized
- My child cannot sleep safely in hotel rooms or when visiting family
How many of these points had you nodding along in agreement? For the record, I can say yes to at least four of them myself.
Finding the right bed has been a long journey for us. As your child grows and their needs change, so should their sleep arrangement. We’re in the process now of purchasing a Safety Sleeper because it can solve ALL of the above issues and continue to grow with us as our needs evolve.
What is the Safety Sleeper?
The Safety Sleeper is a customizable, fully enclosed special needs bed that can be used with a memory foam waterproof mattress or inflatable air mattress (both included) making it appropriate for home or travel use.
The zipper enclosure is not accessible from inside the bed, making it ideal for kids who wander and need to be kept safe in one spot. The mattress is also fully protected by a coverlet that allows for no gaps between the mattress and frame, making it impossible to get access to the mattress or become entrapped.
The bed enclosure and mattress are designed to fit snugly into any bed frame, can be strapped to sit atop another mattress or can be placed on the floor, making it ideal for travel . The entire unit (including the air mattress) breaks down and fits into a wheeled suitcase that is less than 50 pounds and is even free to travel by air as a medical device!
The strong material is not chewable and easy to clean. Also, everything on the bed can be stripped and thrown in the washing machine, from the coverlet to the enclosure. You can even add mesh material if you need to be able to see through the enclosure with a video monitor.
The Safety Sleeper comes in three different models, depending on your needs, and the company is always open to discussing unique requests. The beds can be constructed to allow for more access for kids with medical needs, medical tubing and wires or who require lift compatibility. Of course, this also means that the bed is expensive, but there are multiple ways to fund your Safety Sleeper , including working through insurance .
The best thing about these beds is the versatility! Whatever your child’s sleep needs may be, the Safety Sleeper has a solution!

Provo police: Couple ‘chained’ 8-year-old autistic daughter to bed
Family acquaintance defends character of parents, by ryan aston - for the daily herald | mar 8, 2024.
Stock photo
A married couple was arrested and charged with felony abuse or neglect of a child with a disability for allegedly chaining their autistic daughter to her bed.
Benjamin Sorensen, 45, and Emily Sorensen, 40, were arrested Tuesday evening by an officer from the Provo Police Department and booked into the Utah County Jail, according to a police report.
Court documents show an order for their conditional release.
The Sorensens had been visited that afternoon by case workers from the Division of Child and Family Services, who observed that the couple’s 8-year-old daughter was “chained” to the top bunk of a bunk bed, per the arrest documents. They subsequently contacted authorities.
Upon arrival on the scene, an officer was invited into the Sorensens’ home, at which point they also observed the restrained child. According to the report, the child was chained with a padlock at the ankle. It was further noted that the officer observed impressions on the child’s skin “from the tightness of the chain.”
The officer made note in the arrest document of having been “advised by the case workers that there was already a (Child Protective Services) report” for a previous incident of the child being chained, and that the Sorensens had signed agreements to discontinue the practice.
After initially pushing back on the officer’s request to unchain the child, Benjamin Sorensen removed a key from his pocket and unlocked the padlock, according to the report.
Having agreed to speak with the officer without counsel present, he reportedly indicated that the child had been restrained nightly in this manner — between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. — for the previous three months.
According to the report, he also told the officer that his child is sometimes restrained when he and his wife are out and that their 13-year-old daughter is given a key to the padlock.
An indictment against the Sorensens explained the parents’ justification for restraining their daughter, which they said is because she “gets into things” and isn’t safe.
Court documents indicated the presence of five total children in the home. Per the police report, DCFS obtained warrants to take the children into custody.
Jeremy Friedbaum, who attends the same church as the Sorensens, believes that the couple is being mischaracterized by reporting of the incident.
“Ben and Emily Sorensen are active and beloved members of our ward. … We really love them,” he said. “They dedicate their lives to taking care of these children.”
According to Friedbaum, at least four of the five children have special needs.
The couple is due back in court April 2.

Safety Bed for Autism: The Safety Sleeper®
For children with autism, sleep isn't always peaceful; it takes a while for them to fall asleep, and once they do, they may wake up several times during the night. As a result, their loved ones spend many sleepless nights worrying. We know our founder, Abram's mother Rose, experienced this along with countless families in our community. In addition, some children with autism may not fully comprehend household dangers, so they'll have a tendency to wander or even leave the house. With The Safety Sleeper®, you will combat the dangers of night wandering caused by Autism-related sleep disturbances, giving you and your loved one a worry-free night’s rest.
Why The Safety Sleeper® Is a Must-Have for People with Autism
Prevent night-wandering.
Creating a safe sleeping environment is crucial for your child, and that's precisely what The Safety Sleeper® is designed for! Ensuring their bed provides a sense of calm and security, it discourages night-wandering , meaning they won't be tempted to wander at night.
Unlike other safety beds on the market, The Safety Sleeper® uses medical grade fabric and padding to reduce physical harm to your loved one. If your loved one begins exhibiting rambunctious behaviors, like punching or kicking, the enclosed padding will protect them from self-harm. Our safety beds for autism put your fears to rest.
Promote Sleep
Our medical enclosed bed is specifically designed for children with autism and prevents them from standing up or jumping around while sleeping, as it is solely intended for sleeping and not playing. With The Safety Sleeper®, your child has a better quality of sleep and improved functioning during the day.
Parent-Approved
The Safety Sleeper® not only gives you peace of mind that your loved one is safe but is also portable, allowing you to live your life. As a parent or guardian, it offers a sense of freedom and comfort that you won't find with other beds. With our safety bed for autism, you can relax and feel at ease, knowing that your loved one is protected.
What are the Dangers Associated with Elopement?
According to a 2012 study in Pediatrics, almost 50% of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) have a tendency to wander or bolt from safe settings. Elopement behavior in children with ASD increases the risk of injury or death and burdens families. More than half of families report they have never received advice or guidance about elopement from a professional. If that includes you, reach out to our dedicated team of production and Customer Care specialists . They will help with understanding how a fully enclosed bed system like The Safety Sleeper® can eliminate the dangers associated with wandering, and answer all of your questions, offer words of encouragement, and provide guidance as you navigate how to best protect your child.
You may feel overwhelmed at contacting your insurance about your Safety Sleeper®, but we’re here for you every step of the way.
What can you do to protect your child.
- Bring your child to your local police station, where you’ll have the chance to fill out a packet and have their photo taken; this helps with awareness in case of elopement.
- Introduce your child to your neighbors and include them in activities both around your community and at school. Having them get to know people in the neighborhood will be helpful in case of elopement.
- Begin by exploring safety bed options for your child. Our blog, How to Choose Among Safety Bed Options , will help you gain a better understanding of your family's exact needs.
- Download The National Autism Association’s Big Red Safety Box® - a free-of-charge safety toolkit for autism families in need of wandering-prevention tools.
- Download and begin using your free Be REDy Booklet by the National Autism Association. This free, downloadable toolkit contains extensive resources to help caregivers prevent and respond to wandering incidents. Also available in Spanish.
- Download the Caregiver Checklist to help implement wandering prevention strategies in your home.

How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score, we add up all the review scores and divide that total by the number of review scores we received. We only use a weighted review system for properties in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains) – the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the review score calculation. Guests can also give separate subscores in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently – there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

It starts with a booking.

Followed by a trip
When guests stay at the property, they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff is, and more.
And finally, a review
After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.
