About Slightly Stoopid

Since 1994, Slightly Stoopid has continued to be a musical brotherhood. Founded by Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald, two musicians determined to succeed on their own terms, the pair of long-time childhood friends, has created a multi-genre fusion of rock, reggae, and blues with hip-hop, funk, American folk, metal, and punk. They remain unwavering in their principles of independence, honoring their diversity of influences and mentors, and furthering their inherited legacy of the Southern California sound. Slightly Stoopid has built a sweeping legacy for itself, continuously expanding in diversity and repertoire. Warriors of the road, their touring has grown exponentially both domestically and internationally with sold-out headlining dates across the world, and festival appearances at famed events such as Coachella, Lollapalooza, New Orleans Jazz Fest, ACL, Outside Lands, and Cali Vibes amongst countless others.

Thirty years into the journey, the prolific collective has much to celebrate; the band founded their own record label, Stoopid Records, garnering the platinum single “Closer To The Sun,”, and gold singles “2am” and “Collie Man,” and over one million physical catalog sales. They have worked with an array of collaborators and guest artists including Snoop Dogg, Bob Weir, Stephen Marley, Cypress Hill, G-Love, Barrington Levy, Chali2na, Karl Denson (Rolling Stones), Don Carlos (Black Uhuru) & Rashawn Ross (Dave Matthews Band).   The entrepreneurial spirited band also created and continue to curate their annual sold-out Closer to the Sun destination music festival in Mexico (2024 will mark its 10th year), and have launched a line of unique, high-quality cannabis products under the guise of ‘Stoopid Strains’, along with their “Tangie Summer Haze” lager, a beer collaboration with Buzz Rock Breweries in Southern California, Website | Instagram | Twitter | YouTube | Facebook

About Dirty Heads

Since 2001, Dirty Heads have mixed hip-hop, reggae, and rock to create a unique sound that fully embodies their Southern California roots and resonates with audiences around the globe.

Dirty Heads are currently out-streaming some of the biggest alternative acts in the U.S., with

over 1.31 MILLION digital track sales and 2.7 BILLION on-demand streams since 2018. Dirty Heads also have over 2.4 million unique monthly listeners on Spotify.

The band’s global appeal reached new heights in 2021, when their hit “Vacation” (originally released in 2017) garnered over six billion views and streams across social media via the ubiquitous #VacationTransition challenge that originated organically with users on TikTok.

The group formed when punk rocker Dustin Bushnell (aka Duddy B) asked his friend, rapper Jared Watson (aka Dirty J), to collaborate on a project that would focus on positive vibes and infectious grooves. Watson added singing to his vocal skills, and later with percussionist Jon Olazabal, drummer Matt Ochoa, and bassist Dave Foral, Dirty Heads began building an immense audience.

In 2008, Dirty Heads released their acclaimed album Any Port in a Storm, with a deluxe edition following in 2010. The deluxe version featured the track “Lay Me Down” with special guest Rome Ramirez of Sublime with Rome. The song reached number one on Billboard’s Alternative Songs in May 2010, and nine weeks later it established a record as the song with the longest stint atop the chart for an independently released title.

They followed up two years later with Cabin by the Sea and later recorded an acoustic version of the title track. This, in turn, led to an entire acoustic album in 2013 called Home: Phantoms of Summer. Dirty Heads’ next album, Sound of Change, would prove to be a breakthrough for the now-veteran band, debuting at number eight on the Billboard Top 200 while topping the Independent and Alternative Albums charts upon its May 2014 release.

Building on their renewed success, Dirty Heads enlisted a bevy of industry hitmakers to work on their self-titled 2016 follow-up, which — thanks to its mainstream appeal — again charted high on the Billboard Top 200. The following year saw the band drop its sixth studio album, Swim Team, featuring the singles “Vacation,” in its original form, and “Staloney.”

Inspired by current events and the fan interpretations of their music in the #VacationTransition challenge, the band went into the studio to work on new music. In 2021 Dirty Heads released The Best Of Dirty Heads compilation, which included a new collaboration with Travis Barker and Aimee Interrupter of The Interrupters. The band also released their highly anticipated 8th studio album Midnight Control in August 2022 which featured 10 all-new songs including their take on Joe Walsh’s 1978 hit “Life’s Been Good.”

In 2023 Dirty Heads released the digital deluxe version of their album Midnight Control, featuring 23 tracks including acoustic versions of hit songs “Rescue Me,” “Life’s Been Good,” and “Island Glow,” Lo-Fi versions of 3 album tracks, 3 unreleased songs and more in addition to all 10 tracks from the original album. Featured artists include Monsieur Periné, Ivy Miller (Ivuss) and Alex Vince.

This summer, Dirty Heads performed their Top 5 hits “Life’s Been Good” and “Rescue Me” on the Today Show. Before the performance, Hosts Hoda & Jenna presented the band with a RIAA platinum plaque for their hit “Vacation,” acknowledging sales of more than 1 million digital downloads since its release BY BETTER NOISE MUSIC. The band’s take on Eagles founding member Joe Walsh’s classic “Life’s Been Good” has been streamed over 17 million times since its release and climbed to the Top 5 on the Mediabase Alternative chart. Dirty Heads also completed 37 dates on their Island Glow Summer Tour with Lupe Fiasco, Yelawolf, G. Love & Special Sauce, Tropidelic and Bikini Trill.

PGA Tour's 2024 Puerto Rico Open: Full field and top players explored

T he 2024 Puerto Rico Open is set to tee off at the Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico on Thursday, March 7. The four-day event, the 11th tournament of the 2024 PGA Tour schedule, will feature a 128-player field. Notably, the event will take place parallel to the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Unlike the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Puerto Rico Open doesn't have a stacked field. However, the PGA Tour event features some big-name regulars from the circuit. The event field will be headlined by the likes of Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Joel Dahmen, Rasmus Hojgaard, Kevin Kisner, and Robert MacIntyre, among others.

Owing to its non-elevated nature and its placing on the circuit's schedule, the event will not feature any top 50-ranked player on its field. Instead, the Puerto Rico Open will see several lower-ranked PGA Tour and DP World Tour regulars compete for the $4 million prize purse.

Matti Schmid reflects on Kentucky ties ahead of Barbasol Championship

Matti Schmid says his college days in Kentucky proved invaluable on his road to the professional ranks as he returns to familiar ground for this week’s Barbasol Championship .

Matti Schmid-1400442506

The German spent four years at the University of Louisville from 2017 to 2021, before he turned professional last summer at the age of 23 after he won the Silver Medal as the low amateur in The Open Championship at Royal St George’s.

Schmid comes into his first appearance as a professional in the United States at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville on the back of two recent outings in his home country on the DP World Tour with fond memories of his time over the Atlantic.

“I had a great time here at college ‑ as a Louisville Cardinal,” Schmid said at his pre-tournament interview.

“I think it helped my golf game tremendously. I wasn't that good before. I would say I don't think I would have made it straightaway on Tour, a high level on Tour, but college really has prepared me and has given me the opportunity to improve.”

Schmid won the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award for 2021 as he secured his DP World Tour card for this season in just seven appearances, and he is delighted with the progress he has made over the last 12 months.

“I'm obviously very proud of myself that I was capable of doing that,” said the 24-year-old, whose best performance so far this season came at the Steyn City Championship in South Africa where he finished tied third.

“I have to say I was very thankful for the DP World Tour who have given me starts as an amateur and I think that just has prepared me a bit better.

“Once I turned pro, I know how things worked and I wasn't as nervous. That helped, helped a lot to achieve those things.”

Matti Schmid-1331450689

The field in Kentucky, and for next week’s Barracuda Championship in California, contains 50 DP World Tour members who have been provided with an opportunity to play thanks to the strategic alliance with the PGA TOUR.

It's another opportunity to shine. I'm glad we have so many of those on Tour.

Last week, the Tours announced an expansion of that alliance to a 13-year operational joint venture partnership which will bring even greater benefits for both memberships.

With DP World Tour Ranking points on offer this week and the opportunity for the winner to secure the final spot into next week’s The Open at St Andrews, Schmid is determined to give his best on a course he has played at before.

“It's another opportunity to shine. I'm glad we have so many of those on Tour,” he added.

“I know the conditions, let’s see if the game's there this week.”

Olaf Scholz’s message last week was clear: Berlin would not deliver Taurus cruise missiles to Kyiv because German soldiers would have to be sent to Ukraine to programme them. And that meant Germany would be dragged into war with Russia.

The German chancellor’s argument has now been blown apart — by his own military. A conversation between German air force officers that was intercepted and leaked by Russian media late last week revealed Ukrainian soldiers could operate the Taurus missiles without German “boots on the ground”, as long as they were adequately trained.

“The leak is official confirmation that the chancellor wasn’t telling the truth,” said Norbert Röttgen, an MP for the opposition Christian Democrats and member of the Bundestag’s foreign affairs committee. “It massively damages his credibility.”

Scholz’s allies have rallied to his defence. Rolf Mützenich, head of the chancellor’s Social Democrat (SPD) parliamentary group, told ARD TV on Sunday that the business of sending Tauruses to Ukraine was always “a political and legal grey zone which I myself wouldn’t want to set foot in”. “For that reason, [Scholz’s] decision is politically and legally reasonable,” he said.

Even before the leak, doubts were being expressed in western capitals about Scholz’s approach . Officials in London and Paris expressed dismay last week after he revealed publicly that British and French troops were on the ground in Ukraine helping to operate Storm Shadow and Scalp missiles — a situation he would not permit with the Tauruses.

But the eavesdropping affair has caused much more damage, triggering massive concern about the safety of German government communications as wars rage in Europe and the Middle East. Germany was “caught with its pants down, again”, lamented the mass circulation Bild Zeitung on Monday. “It’s as if [Russia’s leader Vladimir] Putin dropped a cluster bomb over Berlin,” said the Frankfurter Allgemeine.

The leak reignited a long-running debate that Scholz thought he had drawn a line under for good, and amounted to a massive propaganda coup for Moscow, which said it proved the “collective west” had designs to attack Russia.

A Taurus air-launched cruise missile attached to a fighter jet

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the call made it “more than obvious” that Germany’s military was “discussing substantive and specific plans to strike Russian territory” — an idea dismissed by Berlin as “absurd, infamous Russian propaganda”.

It was in May 2023 that the Ukrainian authorities first asked for Taurus cruise missiles, one of the most modern weapons systems in the Bundeswehr’s arsenal. With a range of up to 500km they can be used against “high-value targets” such as bunkers or command posts and can penetrate several walls of reinforced concrete.

But in October, Scholz turned down the Ukrainian request. For many this was typical: he had long refused to supply Kyiv with German Leopard tanks, fearing Russian retaliation. But in January last year he finally bowed to intense domestic and international pressure and reversed course.

For months Scholz declined to explain his position on Tauruses. But last week he finally broke his silence, saying German soldiers would have to be stationed in Ukraine to programme the missiles. Berlin would then become directly involved in the war, an outcome he has consistently sought to avoid.

“German soldiers must not be connected at any point with the targets that this system reaches,” he said.

Fellow SPD politicians say Scholz’s caution has huge support among German voters, and the Russian leak has not changed that.

“People here like the way he cautiously weighs up the pros and cons of supplying different weapons systems,” said Nils Schmid, the SPD’s foreign policy spokesperson. “Like Scholz, they don’t want Germany to become a party to this war.”

Schmid added Germans also agreed with the chancellor about the risks of supplying Ukraine with “so impactful a weapon”. “You just don’t know how they would deploy it in an emergency situation,” he said.

But Scholz’s position on Taurus has raised hackles inside his own governing coalition. Worried about Ukraine’s recent setbacks on the battlefield and the US Congress’ failure to approve more military aid for Kyiv, liberal and Green MPs have urged a rethink on a missile that has the potential to significantly boost Ukraine’s military capabilities.

Late last month the three parties in Scholz’s coalition passed a resolution requesting the delivery of “long-range weapons systems” to Kyiv that could strike “far in the rear of the Russian aggressor”. Taurus was not named, but it was clearly implied.

It was also the main subject of the intercepted Luftwaffe call. The officers involved, who included Luftwaffe chief Ingo Gerhartz, were heard to say the missiles could be used by Ukraine to attack the bridge linking mainland Russia to the Crimean peninsula, among other targets. The men also said Ukrainian troops could be trained in Germany to use the missiles. But they stressed that Scholz’s government had still not given the green light for the missiles to be delivered to Kyiv.

Some in Scholz’s SPD think that could one day change. “The leak doesn’t reduce Scholz’s room for manoeuvre — he can still come to a different decision on Tauruses in the future,” Schmid said.

But others said Russia’s aim was to make sure Scholz would never be able to execute a U-turn on the missiles. “Russia has succeeded in creating the perfect political dilemma in Germany,” said Christian Mölling, a defence analyst with the German Council on Foreign Relations. “It will now be all the more difficult for Scholz to re-evaluate the situation and change his mind on the Tauruses after all.”

Johann Wadephul, the Christian Democrats’ spokesperson on foreign and defence affairs, said Putin’s aim was to “entangle Scholz in a web of hints and contorted explanations” to such an extent that it would be impossible for him to opt to supply the Tauruses in the future.

“Scholz has hunkered down in his refusal to send the missiles,” Wadephul said. “He doesn’t seem to understand that by doing that he’s become the best piece on Putin’s chessboard.”

Devils' Akira Schmid: Needed in relief again Sunday

Schmid stopped all nine shots he faced after replacing Nico Daws midway through the second period of Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Kings.

The 23-year-old netminder has been needed in relief in two straight games, as Daws continues to implode. Schmid has allowed three goals on 44 shots over three appearances since returning to the NHL roster in late February. If the Devils don't trade for a goalie at the deadline, he could get another look in the No. 1 role, at least until Vitek Vanecek (lower body) returns from injured reserve.

Absolutely incredible!! Khalid was only my second concert ever and it has inspired me to see as many as I can. It felt like every song was played at 250% and it sounded incredible. The band was phenomenal and I could really feel the music. The crowd was happy and everyone was having a good time. I'd see him again if I could.

Literally the best thing I have ever seen. The whole band sounded so tight, the light show was insane and they really played to the audience. Two full sets of material plus an encore was probably more than any of us expected. They played so many songs that I wanted to hear, even some really old material which was so unexpected. The whole audience was buzzing with energy and love for a band that are so good, but really don't tour enough. I'd waited 10 years for a chance to see them and now that I have, I'd have waited another 10 if I knew it was going to be that perfect. It was a privilege to be in that room and witness something so beautiful.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard

I saw these guys at the Subterranean in Chicago-- what an insane show. They electrified the crowd with non stop moshing, shoving, and stage diving, it was absolute madness. By the end of the gig I was utterly soaked with other peoples beer (theres always someone with a sloshing cup in a pit; why? just drink it!) and dripping with sweat. this show was epic, if you ever have the opportunity to see these guys you have to seize it-- they put on one hell of a show.

Moses Sumney

Moses was amazing. Very enigmatic but still approachable, and he had a lot of fun with the crowd. The performance was incredible, his voice is truly something to behold. I've listened to "Worth It" a million times but still got chills when he hit the high note. Would highly recommend seeing Moses live, especially before he gets really famous and expensive to see.

Tyler, The Creator

I have been a fan of Tyler for a long time, as well as the whole group of OFWGKTA, and seeing him live was something I had on my bucket list. I went in with high expectations for his show, already knowing of how much energy and enthusiasm he puts into his live performances. What I got at The Forum went above and beyond anything I could have hoped for. The crowd was amazing, knowing every song and shouting and yelling along with unrivaled amounts of energy. Tyler was just as, or even more, energetic and knew how to work the crowd perfectly by interaction, be it between moments talking about random things or talking about his music and singing. I was blown away by the fact that at least twice he called to stop the song just to start it again because he loved how into it the crowd was and wanted to see it again. Of course we, the crowd, loved it and drained our lungs out with every lyric. I've seen the Arctic Monkeys, Sleigh Bells, Banks, Pendulum, Wolf Alice and others and can honestly say Tyler was the best overall. Everyone exited the venue with shirts soaked in sweat and with cracking voices, with grins on their face from having experienced something they'd never forget. If you like Tyler, or by extension OFWGKTA, you have to see him live if you get the opportunity, you can never anticipate how godly his live performances will be. I will definitely be waiting for his next visit to see him again.

Our dream and our drive was always to bring Songkick members closer than ever before to the sounds they love, and the people who create them. Simply put, we pride ourselves on being your direct link to the greatest music artists on the planet.

Who are they, exactly? Well, according to our members, that changes almost by the hour...so let's talk about how Songkick keeps you in the loop.

Best live artists

A quick glance at our Most Popular Artists chart might tell you a few key things about the sorts of music fans we vibe with. For starters, it shows just how varied our members' tastes are. Pop, rock, dance, hip-hop, indie/alt and R&B all feature heavily, alongside a whole bunch of underground genres and rising scenes.

Maroon 5, Beyoncé, The Midnight, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Taylor Swift, Calvin Harris, Imagine Dragons, Justin Bieber - and that's barely looking outside the top 20.

After all, if the weekly race for a spot on our most popular charts tells us anything, it's that the whole concept of 'best live bands' is a tricky one to pin down. Everybody's looking for a completely different type of experience, every night of the year.

That's another thing we love about our users: you're incredible at keeping us on our toes. In return, we’ve made it our mission to help keep you on yours.
